Opelaikah High School football alongside legendary coach Spence McCracken, Mac
McCracken and Jason Lee. Here's the voice of the Bulldogs,

Welcome to Bulldogs Stadium here in Opalaika, where the lights
of Brye the Stake, Sir High I have Big seven
A Region two playoff race heating up and tonight at
the Opehakah Bulldogs come in five and one overall, two
and one in Region play hosting the Dothan Wolves, who
bringing a three and two overall record one and two
in region play. It's a pivotal showdown that could shape
the postseason picture.

Tonight.

Hello everybody, I'm Van Riggs, alasside Hall of Fame coach
Spence mccrackett Mac mccracke, and'll be running our sidelines and
Jason Lee with your halftime report tonight and helping us
engineer and spot our broadcast tonight. This matchup two teams
explosive ground games. Opalaika Anders riding a three game winning streak,
including that nail binding twenty four to twenty two win
last week over Pike Road. Bulldog's averaging nearly one hundred

and ninety rushing yards per game, led by senior running
back CJ. Johnson Jordan Waits defense, anchored by veterans like
Brayden Howard, Tremaine Thomas, Caden Harris, continues also to make
some timely stop Just a really good group, ben but
don't break a lot of times for this defense. Then
on the other side, Dothan looking to bounce back after
back to back losses to Central and Carver Montgomery. But

despite the setbacks, the Wolves boasting one of them dynamic
rushing attacks in the state they're averaging just under three
hundred and forty yards per game on the ground. Running
back aj Alexander a name to watch. He's capable of
breaking off big plays and big runs at any time.
These two teams met last October. Obalaika dominated that windown
in doth in twenty eight to seven, and that was

the Bulldog's first victory over the Dothan High Wolves and
just the third all time meeting between those two programs.

football coach Brian Moore, presented by South State Bank. Now
with coach, here's Van Riggs.

Another game inside the Friendly Cone finds a Bulldog stadium coach.

Hard to believe.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Just two more regular season games here inside Opalaka Stadium tonight.
What a great atmosphere last week, good win. Let's talk
a little bit about the Pike Road victory last week. Yeah,
it was it was a good win. You know, it
was a hard fault win.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
They were really good team and you know, we had
to battle our way a lot of ups and downs
in the game. You know, first drive was great, best
drive of the year for us, but then we give
up to in a row that were not good at
two point conversion. That was unacceptable to give up, and
you know we just lost contain and then had a
battle back though, you know, got it closer at halftime
I think twenty two to seventeen than they did not

score in the second half.

Speaker 6 (03:37):
I thought that was huge.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
And then we finished with the football in a four
minute scenario where we had to drive from our all one,
So again defense settled in. Coach Massie and his group
did a great job. Then coach Jackkins and his group,
you know, put together a great finishing drive to get
us to win.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Yeah, in the second half, you had to lean on
that run game brought with Cooper in of course, as
Kobe got banged up and then you really just ground
and pound, ran right at them, and that's that thing
that says a lot about a.

Speaker 6 (04:00):
Team, no doubt.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
And we'll have to hit some of those throws though,
you know we if he goes this week or Kobe,
I'm not really sure, but you know, wid'll have to
make some of the throws. You know, he was not
as sharp as he had been in the three previous games,
but he did what he needed to do as a
field general. You know, one thing about Wit is he's
incredibly mature and he's going to be an exceptional player.
So again we're excited to continue to see his growth.

But our run game, you know, with cj with with
with Jordan Waits, with Blake obviously back with I thought
was crucial and made a difference in the game.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
And coach, when you when you look at your defense, boy,
they had their hands full with some really good athletes,
several different things to de end a traditional pro style
or you know, quarterback back throwing the ball down the
field and then a wildcad that really was tough in
the second half.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Some wrinkles we had not seen, you know, and I thought,
you know, coach Shuk and his group did a really
good job of adding some things and probably holding some stuff.
They have not run and have been repping. But the
outlaw kid getting the direction now was a major issue.
We settled in and were better. You know, we got
the goal line stand with them and ended up getting.

A turn over there.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
But again, those first two drives were really tough to stop.
But the CU's a good player. You know, he's a sophomore,
but he played as a freshman last year. He made
some throws and he's got some elite athletes around him.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Coach, you talk about the offense trying to get the
ball downfield more, what do you want to see from
your receivers and your quarterbacks as we continue moving through
the season.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
Well, I mean they're special. I mean the three receivers,
you know, and then we've got depth there too. We've
seen Cam Railey and Jakarie Walton and some of those guys.
But you know, Bennett and Jalen and of course Andrea
Van have had great years.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
We didn't get it to Bennett enough.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
We tried on a big third down and missed him
the other day, but he blocked his tail off, and
you know, those guys are really good high school players
and so in college players, and we're gonna have to
get the ball to them.

Speaker 6 (05:46):
And you know, if it is with that goes or
however that shakes out through the week.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
But you know we're going to have to do a
great job of getting the ball down the field and
throwing it over people's head to get those safeties out
of the box.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
I know it was a really long field goal and
a short one miss by rees, but talk about special
teams just in general. I thought punting was good, the
coverage was good, and all around effort, you know, special
teams wise, Yeah, you know, we gave up.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
The kickoff return. That was really frustrating. You know, we
it was a clear blindside block on that. You know,
you can't do that anymore. In the days when we played,
you know, you could kind of peel back on people,
but those days are over due to the safety of players,
and so, you know.

Speaker 6 (06:18):
I thought Special teams was pretty good overall.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
You know, we the operation continues to get better, the
coverage has been good all year, Reeese continues to kick
the ball.

Speaker 6 (06:26):
It's pretty good.

Speaker 7 (06:27):
Win.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
The other night, so they had a couple of returnable balls.
One those document inside the twenty that was really good
to see. But you're right, punting was good. We got
some protection things to continue to clean up. But I
thought that our guys did a really good job. We
had another big return with CJ that we had to hold.
We've got to clean that up. But overall, it's good
night for special teams.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Yeah, coaching all three games, it's been close. There's been
multiple turnovers. I know it's a case again on Friday night.

Speaker 6 (06:51):
It is you know, it's a it's a snap thing.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
You know, it's a changing of quarterback thing because it's
a you know, throwing the ball the other team just
you know, getting impatient, you know, and sort of force
and throws, you know, trying to make plays.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
I have been pleased with ball security lately though.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
As far as our running backs, they have since the
Benjamin Russell game, have been really good. It's good to
see Blake take care of it, you know, his first
day back. And so again there's some bright spots, but
you can't continue to have turnovers to win these region
games down the stretch.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
We'll continue with our visit with coach Brian Moore for
this time out. Give let's know, like a Bulldog football
here on the kicker. All right, Welcome back to Bulldog Stadium.
Visit with head coach Brian Moore as we get ready
for a big region game tonight against Oathan. A good
preview coach for some of the talent and playmakers you'll see,
you know, down the stretch last week against Pikero. But
this Doathan team, boy, they bring in a whole different
set of challenges with the way they run this offense.

(07:38):
And coach watching it on film, I just don't know
I've ever seen anything quite like it. The way the
center snaps that you never know who's getting the football.
Could it be the quarterback slash running back or could
it be the running back.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
It is a unique just quite a heel to climb
to prepare for it.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
It is a unique deal. And you know, coach Kennedy
does a great job. You know, he's he's a really
really good foot ball coach both sides.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Really.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
You know, he's had experience being deepens coordinator enterprise and
coming over and running the single wing stuff at Dothan.
You know, he's got talented players and put them in
good spots.

Speaker 6 (08:10):
Last year was totally new for me.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
You know.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
That's my job now is to help prepare our scouts
to play against our starting defense, to give them a look.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
And it is the most challenging week.

Speaker 5 (08:20):
Our kids do a great job of trying to learn
the scheme, but to prepare for something like this in
a week is a tall task.

Speaker 6 (08:27):
But again, I think we've had a good week and
we'll be ready to go.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
They seem like a Team two coach that if you
don't wrap up, they can make you pay well.

Speaker 6 (08:34):
Number One, the running back is an elite player.

Speaker 5 (08:36):
I mean, he's the best running back we've seen this year,
which is crazy to say, because we've seen some Power
five guys and we've got some of our own, you know,
and so he's our ours are on that level with one,
and he's a good player, you know. But the quarterbacks
a three year starter, I mean, you know, they do
a good job with their scheme. They're blocking backs, a big,
heavy kid. It's a returning starter, you know. And they
got a big receiver that moved in from somewhere in Florida,

and so he.

Speaker 6 (08:59):
Makes a difference as well.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
And then you know, of course defensively, they do a
good job with their pressures.

Speaker 6 (09:04):
Last year, we.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
Struggled early in that game, we kind of broke loose
with a reverse to Jamari. That kind of opened the
game up a little bit for us and sort of
we could exhale and you know, start to settle into
the game.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
But we're gonna have to play really well. Man. This
is a good team.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
A team that scored sixty nine points at Enterprise did
not plant scored ten of ten on their possessions, which
I've never ever seen in my life before. So you know,
they do a good job there, and we'll have to
play really well. How to play our best game in.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
The games they lost at Central and at Carver, what
was it you saw that you can take away that
the other teams had success against them.

Speaker 6 (09:36):
With you better get out to a lead. I mean,
that's what happened in both those games. Both those games, you.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
Know, it's twenty one to nothing before you could blink
from a kickoff return to Carver to you know, the
Coleman kid throwing the ball over everybody's head, you know,
which he does quite well at Central, So you know.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
That's the deal.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
You know, if the game is close and they can
continue to think kind of methodically, you know, keep the
ball like our smithstation game a little bit, you know,
and sort of play keep away from you. And they're
you know, going forward on fourth and one and converting
and their conversion rates really high.

Speaker 6 (10:04):
Man, it makes it tough.

Speaker 5 (10:05):
But when you jump out to a lead and you
have some explosive plays early in the game, it really
turns the tide.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
And that's what happened last year at Dothan.

Speaker 5 (10:12):
You know, we we finally made it twenty one to seven,
had a two score lead and then twenty eight to seven,
and it changed the complexity of that game and kind
of took them out.

Speaker 6 (10:20):
Of their rhythm.

Speaker 5 (10:20):
So you need to start fast and you know, put
some points up early.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Coach, I know, we talked about being healthy and getting
healthy last week, but some more guys got banged up,
I know, some more game time decisions tonight and offensive
line some some guys getting banged up there too.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
Yeah, you know, Darius has been kind of struggling all week,
but you know, I expect him to go. I mean,
he's a he's a warrior, he wants to play, and
you know, he played through a broken finger last year and.

Speaker 6 (10:43):
So you know, he's our best man.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
I mean, he's our guy out there, and of course
we've had some really you know, improved guys with Julian
Pritchett and Eric Mason, those guys that really come along
as seniors. You know, our center Corbyn Fears now in
his seventh game, so you're starting to get some some
some experience with these guys.

Speaker 6 (10:59):
And then Jeremy coming back into the mix.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
So Isaiah hig Will stepped up for him and will
continue to start, but it'll be nice to have jeered
Me back back around. So we are getting healthier, getting
some guys back like Norman Matthews. You know it really
only played a series last week against Pike Road, so
getting closer to healthy and that's huge for the stretch run.

We got twenty eight seniors to their twenty one, so
we've got a little advantage there.

Let me tell you about this game tonight. This is
gonna be a knock them out and whoever can score
the most against the other one.

Speaker 8 (12:15):
I feel like our defense, this is a defense, our
defense against their offense.

Speaker 7 (12:20):
Fan their offense is very, very good, and.

Speaker 8 (12:24):
Like an old country coach told me one time, they
run the funky Notre Dame box, and what that means
is stay at home if you're on defense, and eventually
the ball will come around there to you. Number one
is the guy we have to stop from running the ball.

And give and we can't give up the big plays.

Speaker 8 (12:45):
Okay, this's gonna be an interesting game our defense. We
got to stop their offensive game and get our offense
the ball. We're gonna try to run the ball tonight
as much as we can against them. They're a lot
better offensively than they are defensively. Okay, what you do

once you remember that special teams, I think we can
win special teams. Their kicking game is decent. Our kicking
game when it's on is really really good.

I'd like to see us try.

To get a part return back tonight and maybe a

they're gonna start five seniors.
