Speaker 1 (01:03):
Here's the voice of the Bulldogs fan rigs.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Oh Welcome in Bulldog fans, coming to you from Smith's Station,
Alabama for another exciting Friday Night under the Lions as
the Opelika Bulldogs have made the short trip up to
eighty east here to Smith's Station and another pivotal Class
seven dy Region two matchup, and Tonight's game marks another
chapter what has been a lopsided but passionate rivalry. Opelik
has dominated the series in recent years. They've won four
(01:30):
straight meetings against the Panthers, including last year's fifty to
nothing shutout at Bulldogs Stadium, and over those four games,
the Bulldogs have outscored the Panthers by combined one seventy
four to twenty eight. Coach Prior Wars Bulldogs enters Tonight's
game with a three and one record, looking to start
fast again this week after last night's dominating went over
jag fifty nine to twenty and at quarterback and junior
(01:52):
Kolby Key will return tonight after missing the last two weeks.
He got off to a fast start this season. He
threw for one hundred and fifty nine yards and a
pair of touchdowns in the opener against Benjamin Russell and
helped rally the Bulldogs to a big winning overtime against
Callaway in Week two. He'll be supported though by a
deep backfield that's led by a couple of big seniors C. J.
Johnson and Jordan Waits. Now on the other side of
(02:13):
the sidelines, a new air for the Smith's Station Panthers
under first year coach Blair Harrison, who took over in
June following a turbulent offseason. Coach Harrison known for turning
around struggling programs, and he's already begun reshaping the Panthers culture.
Smith's Station opened the season with a twenty four to
nothing road win over Shaw and that snapped a twelve
game losing streak and went back to twenty twenty three.
(02:35):
Panther's hungry for respect and redemption. Tonight, they'll try to
get a big win against the Bulldogs here for only
the third time in school history. Bugle up, Bulldog fans.
Kickoff coming up on the way tip of the hour
here from Smith's Station, Alabama. On the way next, we'll
have a pregame visit with head coach Brian Moore. That's
on the way next. As we continue with the pregame
show presented by Frederick Dean Funerholm here on the Kicker.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Now it's time for a pregame visit with Opelanka Ahead
football coach Brian Moore, presented by South State Bank.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Now with coach, here's Van Riggs coach.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
We don't say this a whole lot. The only grass
surface you're gonna be playing on this season a little
different preparing for grass now. So used to turf every
week for sure.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
You know, we spend a lot of time in the
summer on the old practice field. That's kind of our deal,
you know, and kind of documented that that's what we do.
We go over there and run the hill and some
of the old school things traditionally that we used to do.
And so you know that's been good is that we've
practiced on that. The kickers will spend more time over
there this week than anybody else. You know, they're really
the ones far as footing and stuff that we've got
to be concerned with. We had some playdates and things
(03:37):
this summer, like down at Foley it was all grass,
and so we've been on that a little bit. But
it is you're right, man, it's a different world now.
As far as you know, everybody's on turf and the
footing is always almost perfect, you know, on that, but
playing on grass is different.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
We'll have to settle into that early.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
You do have to cut a little bit differently as
far as especially if he gets wet. You know, if
the dudes on the ground and it's a little bit wet,
you know, that can be a factor. So we'll have
to take that into consideration.
Speaker 5 (04:04):
The field looks low.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
I mean I obviously haven't been there in person, but
watching the guys always look at how high the grass
is on the cleats, you know, and when they're playing,
just to see is it a slow surface or not.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
And it looks fast. This year I think with.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Coach Rose was about a level five on hot tops.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
You know, it's right there on the shoelaces, so the
slows some people down, you know, people do that stuff
and so but yeah, it looks like it's a lower surface.
And you know, our kids have played there though, you know,
over the years, you know, we go over there. We
went over there last year, I believe anyway, with our
middle school, so a lot of our guys have played there,
and so anyway, so we're excited to go there. And
again it's it's a. You know, we haven't had a
(04:40):
long drive yet this year. That's really nice to be
thirty minutes down the road and play. So everything kind
of stays the same on Friday. But you know, Smith
is better. I mean, they're they're doing a good job there.
I know that the scores hadn't looked as good, you know,
especially the Carver score, but they have some backs that
can really run it and and they're you know, kind
of slowing the game down and kind of winding that clock,
(05:01):
you know, and you know you're gonna have fewer possessions,
so you got to do a good job of getting
off the field defensively and you know what.
Speaker 5 (05:07):
To play well.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
We'll continue our visit with coach Brian more if this
time adds. We get ready for Ropelike it and Smith's
Station right here on the Kicker, continuing our pregame visit
with head coach Brian. We're getting ready for Ropelike in
Smith's Station tonight, Coach Smith Station, You coach Coach Harrison
comes in. What have you seen from him? And what
have you seen from this Smith's Station Panther team.
Speaker 5 (05:28):
Yeah, I've enjoyed talking to him.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
I really haven't met him in person, but gotten to
talk to him several times on the phone, and you
know about different opponents. You know, now when you get
into thick up region play, you start sharing film kind
of all over the place, and so all the head
coaches are kind of talking to each other about what
they think about the opponent.
Speaker 5 (05:42):
So it's funny, you know, it's it's it's kind of
a different world in that way.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
But it's been good to talk to him, and I
think he gets it.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
You know, he does a good He knows what Smith is.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
You know, he knows what they need, just like coach
Rose did you know about you know, how do we take.
Speaker 5 (05:57):
These kids and win in this difficult region?
Speaker 4 (06:00):
And well there's a recipe for that, and he's he's
well on his way. So uh, well, it's played well
and take another step forward. I am excited to see
the scheme because down the road, we'll play more guys
that you know, are going to line up kind of
this way, not exactly the same, like Gothan and some
of them. So it's it's a totally different ball.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
Game than Jag.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
You know, Jag was five wide every snap, empty quarterback
runs and everybody's going to be playing within about ten
yards of space, right, and it's.
Speaker 5 (06:27):
Going to be packed in shoe to shoe.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
And you know it's good for us because we haven't
had a team come at us like that yet to
run trap and belly and you know, buck sweep and
stuff like that, so we have to be prepared for that.
It's a different deal man, and you better fit it right, okay,
or they'll.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
Make explosive plays.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
As coach Brian Moore, as we get ready for tonight's
matchup against the Smithstation Panthers Dogs on the road, we'll
have more of a Panthers stadium right after this time out.
You're listening, nople like a bulldog football here on the kicker.
Speaker 6 (07:01):
Thank you.
Speaker 7 (07:02):
He's remained standing for the presentation of colors by the
Smith Station High School Marine Corps JROTC, with the command
of Cadet Captain Zachary Smith.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Back here at Smith Station High School as we get
ready for tonight's matchup between Opelikah and Smith Station National
Anthem and the colors of the country being presented here tonight,
we'll continue with our pregame show after this time out.
Our pregame show presented to you by Frederick Dean Funeral Hallman,
you're listening to Opa like a Bulldog football here on
the Kicker.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
You are listening to Obelikah High School Football here on
ninety seven point seven Kicker FM. And now it's time
for Coach Spence mccrackens Keith the game presented by Glenn Smith,
Chevrolet GMC and Obeli Got Get ready to smile.
Speaker 8 (07:54):
Man, Here we go, Here we go Smith's station versus
Opal I could have.
Speaker 6 (08:00):
We're gonna go down the stats and just tell you
what the keys are of the game again.
Speaker 8 (08:05):
First of all, we got to possess the ball more
than they do. The more plays you have, the more
chances you have to win the game. We need to
rush the ball more than they do. Around two hundred
yards would be fine. We have to pass the ball
at least and complete at least six and ten throws
with no turnovers, complete third down conversions, third and fourth
(08:30):
down conversions at a higher rate than them, have more
first downs than they have. We need to have more
big plays than they have, and we don't need to
turn the ball over. Points scored thirty five would be nice,
somewhere around that range. And we want to see which
team can get the least penalties and that'll be who
(08:51):
probably wins the game. And then the kicking game, if
you can just remember, we don't need to make any horrible.
Speaker 6 (08:58):
Mistakes of the kicking game.
Speaker 8 (09:01):
Pump the ball well, kick the ball off well, return
the ball well, et cetera, et cetera. Now a couple
of more things I wanted to remind all of you.
I know you do this every week, but do it again.
First five minutes of the game, last five minutes of
a half, verse five of the third quarter, and last
(09:21):
five of.
Speaker 9 (09:22):
The game very important, crucial times. We need to make
sure that we play our best football then and this
whole game will be decided in six or seven plays.
We'll be determined the winner and we want to get
more place than it. We don't want to have any
mistakes by our quarterback, and we need to remember this.
(09:43):
Folks watching the game, you always pressure a good quarterback
and defend against an average quarterback. So we'll see how
good this guy is tonight, and we'll see Kobe Key
back in action tonight. Finally, do your job, play hard,
smart and tough, and hopefully we'll go back to Opelaka
(10:05):
with a win.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
All right, thanks so much. There's coach Spence McCracken. Keys
to the game. I was always presented by our friends
at Glen Smith, Chevy GMC and Opal like off ex
of sixty two, off of I eighty five. Get ready
to smile, Opelikah and Smith's Station getting ready to kick
things off here in just over eight minutes here at
Panthers Stadium, TC, Britain Field. First time the Panthers have
been back here in a couple of years, and really
(10:27):
the first meeting in a while here at Panthers Stadium
was just a few years ago as they took a
break when Opelikah went into the six A class stadium
six A and Smith Station jumped up the seven A classifications.
These two teams rarely met, so really was a series
that got renewed here within just in the past couple
of years. Opelikah and Smith Station coming up on the way.
(10:48):
We'll take a time out and come back with more
here from Panthers Stadium. After this time out, you're listening
to Opelaca Bulldog football here on the Kicker. Welcome back
here as we continue getting you ready for tonight's matchup
between the Opalka Bulldogs and the Smith Station Panthers. Van
(11:09):
Riggs alongside coach Spence McCracken and coach the Bulldogs coming
off of a good field, good win against the jag
Jaguars last night fifty nine to twenty. We saw a
sophomore quarterback Wit Cooper really come on for the Bulldogs
last week. He was eight and nine one hundred and
thirty yards and he had three touchdowns there all in
the first half and just look really electric. Grially gave
(11:30):
the offense a big spark. Fuller Young passed the ball
pretty good last week as well, so it was excited
to see those guys step up. It'll be interesting to
see after a couple of weeks out. How does kolbe
Key looked as as he's rusty tonight. You know it's
gonna be a you know, an electric atmosphere. Despite Smith's
Station's non success on the football field and their lack
(11:50):
of success so far this season, their stands are packed,
the visiting stands are packed, and this is going to
be an electric atmosphere at the start of this ball game.
Speaker 8 (11:58):
I agree with you, Van, and uh We'll see how
Kobe bounced back from the injury he had over a
two week period and uh, but with Cooper was really
good last week. Yeah, and uh uh fielled in nicely.
Uh And also mister Young did a great job. I thought,
(12:21):
uh with the offense fuller and uh we had some
good runs. And I'm gonna tell you something, man, we
need to run the ball tonight. We need to run
the ball tonight with our running backs as a well.
And you know what I just looked.
Speaker 6 (12:38):
Uh, I didn't.
Speaker 8 (12:40):
See Hammer dressed out, and I don't know whether he's
gonna play or not.
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Yeah, he went through warm ups tonight, Coach. I think
it was just kind of a I think it was
one of those things where you know they uh you know,
would would rather not play him if they didn't have
to tonight. That ankle still bothered him a little bit.
And uh may need him next week in a home
game against Pike, but you're really going to need him
in a couple of weeks against Othan when they come
in in the next big region game. So if the
(13:06):
Hammer doesn't need to go tonight, I think it'd be
better just to let him continue healing up. Matt m
Kracking's down on the field as we get ready for
tonight's game. And Mac, you were in the i say
locker room area where the team was dressing out and
what was the message to the team there from coach Moore?
Speaker 10 (13:21):
Yeah, man, he just basically told the boys, let's get
a little bit better this evening. He wants to see
a four quarter game instead of you know, just you know,
first quarter, third quart, everything like that. He's really encouraging
the boys to put it all together in one whole
full football game here because you know, as you know,
you got to get better at eating every week, and
you know we send to be getting there, but he
wants to put us over the home tonight.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
All right, we're waiting the coin toss. The captains are
being hurried onto the field here by the referees as
they were a little late coming out here as we
get ready for tonight's matchup between Opulaika and the Smith's
Station Panthers. And we'll get your captains for the Bulldogs
for tonight's game and Opelaika captains or see here, we've
(14:08):
got Trey Stone, Cam Raley, Isaiah Howell to Res, Thomas,
Caleb Smith, and Robert Supplevita captain's for tonight's game. It'll
be Cam Raley going out there along with Isaiah Howell,
Trey Stone shaking hands and to rest Thomas. And we'll
(14:31):
have Mac McCracken there with a white hat. O.
Speaker 11 (14:38):
Mister Rowling, your umpire, mister Broder, your referee. Your captain's
chosen by your coaches. Remember, your number one responsibility is
to make sure you keep your teammates in check and
keep them on the field. We understand our job. If
I asked for a captain to step forward to make
a penalty determination, any of you can step forward if
the penalty is in your favor. Okay, White, you are
(14:58):
a visitor. You get to call the coin toss. You'll
call it before I toss it. If I drop it,
we'll retoss it. Alabama High School is heads.
Speaker 6 (15:05):
That is tails. What is your callers? He calls what tailers?
He calls heads? It's heads, all right, all right?
Speaker 2 (15:25):
So Opelika wins the toss, it will defer to the
second half, so we will see no Opelikah is going
to receive the football. So Opelikah will get the football first.
Here when we come back, there's your coin toss. Tonight
present about rentals outdoors locally owned hunting, Fishing, archery and
outdoor store take care all your outdoor sporting needs Rentals
Outdoors off Geneva Street in Opalaikah.
Speaker 1 (15:47):
Mac.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Did I see that right? Did ope? Like a win
the toss and want the football?
Speaker 6 (15:51):
Yeah, we did where we want the toss heads and
we'll will receive you.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Okay, all right, I did see that correctly then, So
there you go. Coach Moore wants to see this offence
right off the back and we'll see it when we
come back. Your listen ople like a bulldog football Here
on ninety seven point seven Kicker FM, W and.
Speaker 12 (16:06):
KKR Auburn Opalika is Lee County's Best Country. Ninety seven
point seven Kicker FM and iHeart Country Station.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Lights dimming here at Panthers Stadium as the Smiths Station.
Panthers had their intro video on their new jumbo tron
this season. To our left and getting ready to come
out to the marching band and the hyped atmosphere here
inside TC britain Field Panthers Stadium and time now for
our game. Conditions brought you by First Baptist Church, Opelikah,
Proud to support Opelaka Schools if you can't make it
(16:42):
to church. Listen the entire worship service every Sunday eleven
am right here on the kicker, eighty eight degrees. Has
been a hot one here in Smith's Station this afternoon.
By the sun was bacon on the visiting bleachers as
we were setting up, and the visiting fans from Opelaika
felt like home with all that sunshine here on this
side of the stadium, just like it is at Bulldog Stadium.
But the sun has set beyond the trees and the clouds,
(17:05):
and nightfall has fallen here in Smith's Station right now
eighty eight and should be very comfortable weather here during
this one. By the time this game's over, it'll be
down into the mid to upper seventies. But right now
eighty eight as we awake tonight's kickoff. Mac McCracken, what's
the field down there on the sidelines.
Speaker 6 (17:27):
They're fired up man.
Speaker 10 (17:28):
After the little intro video right there by the Smith
Station panthers, I believe the boys from not Over.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
Ready to go baby. All right, that's Mac McCracken. He'll
be bringing us our four seasons. Federal Credit Union Sideline
reports all night tonight Smith Station. Last week they went
to Montgomery, fell to Carver Montgomery forty seven and nothing.
They lost the week prior to in their backyard brawl
against Central Phoenix City fifty six to twenty and the
previous week a non region game here at home. There
are only other home game of the season that was
(17:56):
against Valley they lost thirty seven to twenty one, So
this is just their second home game of the season.
But they did start the season all snapping that twelve
game losing streak to Shaw twenty four to noth that
a big shutout went over in Columbus, So we'll see
Opa like you're getting the football first. Dogs coming off
that win against the jag Jaguars last week fifty nine
to twenty Opelika three and one on the season, one
(18:16):
and one in region play, Panthers have it teed up
and just about ready to kick this one. All Panthers
and all black, tonight black tops, black pants, white numbers,
black helmets, the traditional smith's station, interlocking SS on each
side of the helmet, and the Bulldogs come in all wide,
a squib kick that will roll out of bounds of
the thirty yard lines. The Bulldogs will have good field position.
(18:40):
Don't see Opelika come out on the grass surface very
often with the white pants. But hey, Opelika, moving too,
Nike next year. Time to go ahead and scuff these
under armour bridges up a little bit. So we'll see
which unit comes out here for Opelaiko. And we'll see
(19:01):
Colby t come out to start at quarterback here, his
return to the lineup after missing the past couple of weeks.
Jordan Waits will be the starting tailback. Line of scrimmage
will be the thirty five yard line here for o Palaikah.
Speaker 8 (19:12):
Isaiah Howell gets the first start at left guard again
this week, replacing Dillard, and he had a good game
last week.
Speaker 6 (19:20):
Let's keep an eye on number fifty one, all right, So.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
We have a good field position Panther's defense out on
the field, Obolaikah. We'll go right to left from there
on thirty five yard line the line of scrimmage here.
On first down, Key gets the snap and the hand
off this to Waits. Good hold across the forty Waights
continues to push the pile. He'll have the forty two
yard line for a good run. There By Jordan Waits
a seven yard run and it'll be a second down
(19:44):
and three coming up here four of the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6 (19:46):
That's what we're talking about.
Speaker 8 (19:48):
Good running game on first down, that was right behind Fears,
Whitlow and Eric Mason just underway.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
First play from scrimmage there for the Bulldogs. A seven
yard pickup. Weights will stay in the ball game to
the left of Kolby Kee on a second down and
seven play for the Bulldogs. Wipe out either side. Now
they'll bring a man in motion. They'll give it to
Washington here on the speeds. Week tries to cut it
up and that was well defended by Smith's station. Trevine
Key comes up, makes the stop, provide a two to
(20:17):
three yard loss. Actually, yeah, they'll get him back to
the forty one. Just a loss of one and it'll
be third and four.
Speaker 8 (20:22):
Sparks and Howell need to block a little bit better
on that. Now we couldn't get to the edge. Then
big third down right here Van.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Third and four for the Panthers are for the Bulldogs.
Trying to keep this drive going here.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
C J.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
Johnson checks of the ballgame for Opalaika, and they got
the Panthers to jump. That'll be a Lambert transfer in storage.
First down for the Bulldogs and a good hard count
there by the Bulldogs.
Speaker 8 (20:46):
That's ten yard penalties and penalties now on Smith's tars zero.
Good job, nice call by the old plack of coaching staff. C. J.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Johnson stays in there at tail back. Bulldogs will get
a first down as the of scrimmage. Now across the
forty five up to the forty six yard line. Key
again brings a man in motion right to left. It's Van.
Now Van comes back, gets the handoff, trying to go right,
try to turn it upfield, and again that was well
defended by the Panthers, and he has slung down by
Eli Tatum for a loss on the play. A really
(21:17):
good stop in the backfield for Tatum there for Smith's station,
and they tried to get Van on a misdirection, brought
him in motion left, tried to get him back right
and that was well defended by this junior Eli Tatum,
the cornerback there not biting on that one. A really
good job coach McCracken by him wrapping up too.
Speaker 6 (21:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (21:35):
That's that's the two places we've had negative yards on
the edge.
Speaker 6 (21:39):
Run it or to run it right up the tubes.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Lost four yards. It'll be second and fourteen play action.
Colby Key wants to throw, He's sacked to the backfield
and that was a big time sack by the Panthers.
That was Michael Finner. I believe on the sack there
for Smith's station. As he comes in there and makes
an eye, I see it.
Speaker 8 (22:00):
Here's your third first third down conversion of the game.
It's gonna be third down and a.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
Ton got Michael Botter in there with that big negative play.
Gonna be third down and a long Dogs when they're
on thirty eight yard line here. This is gonna be
close to third and seventeen or so here for the
Bulldogs from their own thirty eight yard line. Colby rolls
here nearside, trying to look down field. Nobody open. Colby
(22:26):
steps up in the pocket, throws and it is caught
at around the forty two yard line. That's gonna be
enough for a first down. Cam Raley just his second catch.
Remember last week, coach, his first reception was an eight
yard touchdown, and he gets enough for the Lambert transfer
in storage first down. Looks like they marked it down
to the forty see you that's the forty see where
(22:49):
they mark it down? Looks like the forty four yard line.
It's gonna be an eighteen yard pickup and a Lambert
transfer in storage first down. Good job, good job, Koby
did a good job. Keep it and his eyes downfield.
Jordan waits checks of the ball game. Now for the
Bulldogs at the Smith station forty four, Colby drops Back's
got time, steps up in the pocket, try to dump
it off. He gets Cam Rayley at around the thirty
(23:11):
nine yard line, so on a little scramble play picked
up close to five yards. You could see Colby a
little timid maybe to run it after being out a
couple of weeks. But it was a five yard pickup.
It'll set up a second down and right at six
yards to go here for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
Good job, keep the change moving. As another penalty on.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Them, Yeah, it's going to be a penalty against miss station.
Good Maybe their marching band drew them off there. They
are lined up now, the marching band to the right
and the new added bleachers here at Smith Station, and
a really good crowd on the home side at Smith's
Station they have packed it out and good visiting crowd
here for Opal like as well.
Speaker 6 (23:52):
That's another first day out, yeh.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
That five yard penalty was just enough for a first
down line of scrimmage. Now the thirty fours Smiths station.
Ople I like a moving from right to left, frustrating
defensive possession here for the Smith's station Panthers, Jordan waits,
they take it to him. Colby play action. Kobe's gonna
keep it and get near sidelines, and Colby's inside the
thirty around the twenty eight yard line, close to six
(24:14):
yards eight oh seven to play. Here in the first quarter,
we're scoreless.
Speaker 5 (24:19):
C J.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Johnson checks in the ball game.
Speaker 6 (24:21):
Good job, good job.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Nice drive Dogs at the twenty eight of Smith's station.
Wide out either side to the right of Colby Key
will be CJ. Johnson. Bulldogs will bring the blockers in
motion tight end and the full back Key gets the snap,
hands it to Johnson. Johnson running nearside, Johnson inside the twenty,
inside the fifteen, Johnson inside the ten. He's finally brought
(24:45):
down around the five yard line, and that was a
touchdown saving stop by Hunter. Well, but CJ's got the
Bulldogs set up first in goal inside the five. Lambert
transferring storage first down, nice run twenty four our yard
pick up there by c J. Johnson. I guess you
(25:07):
could say may get a twenty two yard pickup. Jordan
Waits now in the ball again, given CJ. You breather.
Two hide outs to the left side for the Bulldogs.
Seven thirty three clock running, and there's a stopitch in play,
white hat holding things up for the moment here twenty
(25:28):
seven the play clock running now down to twenty five.
Speaker 8 (25:31):
I think Waits is gonna get this one.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Two white outs to the left side here for the
Bulldogs at the five yard line. First and goal from
the five for the Bulldogs, Waits gets the hand off
of the back field slipped inside the five. Waits trying
to lunge a head towards the end zone. You're gonna
be stopped short right at the one, maybe the two
yard line. So Waits got close to three yards.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
We're burning a lot of clock too.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Sure are six point fifty two almost a six minute
drive here for the Panthers. Now fullback is CJ. Johnson
and Jordan Waits will be the tailback, all right? Is
that Nelson? It's going to be Johnson who gets it
inside the two and he's in the end zone with
(26:19):
the touchdown.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
C J.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Johnson carries it in. That was actually Jalen Nelson who
was a tailback on that one. But they give it
to CJ. Johnson for the Bulldog touchdown. That is CJ's
fourth touchdown is a Bulldog and he gives the Opelak
of Bulldogs the six nothing lead with six thirty four
remaining here in this first quarter.
Speaker 6 (26:36):
That's a great drive.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Here was open the game, especially after that third and
what was around a third and sixteen to convert that
ten plays third and seventeen, I think it was opal
like I had to convert on that one. So here's
Reese Beasley for the point after. He's nine for thirteen
on the season. But it's been good of late. Those
struggles were early with Cooper for the hold and there's
(26:59):
a flag on the play. Extra point was good. But
I believe there's gonna be an off sides against Smiths station.
They blew it before the snap. It's the only problem.
So I believe Opelike is gonna have to rekick off
sides against Smith's station. Know they will decline it, but
(27:21):
they're gonna have to rekick six point thirty four left
in the first quarter. They blew that whistle. Coach I
think just a little too quick on that one. I
guess there was contact.
Speaker 6 (27:31):
I'll tell you what. Yeah, that was mighty fast.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
SAJ Johnson with a two yard touchdown puts the Bulldogs
up six nothing. Here was six thirty four opening drive
of the game. Is almost chewed up half the first
quarter here for opel like a Reache Beasley for the
extra point once again, good snap hold is down and
the kick is right through the upright. So the Bulldogs leading.
It's seven nothing here at Panthers Stadium. That's score and
(27:59):
drive Opal like a power services hometown people working for you.
All the light at opaliapower dot com and make sure
and keep the light on for everybody at Opelaika Here
tonight you're listening to Bulldog football Dogs leading the pant
There's seven nothing here on the kicker almost a six
(28:24):
minute drive for the Opaka Bulldogs is OPAL like a
marches down the field and it was C. J. Johnson
capping it off with a nice two yard run inside
the five and the Bulldogs lead it seven to nothing
over Smith's station. Six thirty four to go here in
the first quarter.
Speaker 8 (28:37):
Julian Pritchett, God Isaiah Howell, Corbin fears.
Speaker 6 (28:41):
Daris Whitlow and Eric Mason up front on.
Speaker 2 (28:43):
That drive panther marching man making the noise to our
ride and the end zone and there's a good end
over end kick it we'll sail into the end zone.
And one interesting thing Coach about this game, this is
not like your days of coaching, but this is the
only grass field Bulldogs will play on all year.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
That yeah, you told me that at the Dutch lunch,
and I'd forgotten.
Speaker 2 (29:03):
That kind of interesting, you know. And I will say
that this is not the typical Smith's Station turf from
back in the day where it was on level five.
This is a very short turf fear, and they've done
a really good job with the grass to play and surface,
and I think they leveled it out. I was talking
to their athletic director and principal before the game, coach
Adam Johnson. I still call him coach. He's the principal
(29:26):
now here at smith Station and and they've done a
good job getting this place looking good and adding get
ready some editions.
Speaker 6 (29:33):
Get ready for these three plays.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
From the twenty yard line. It will be a handoff
here inside, good tackle there by Leland Bell on the
Panthers first play from scrimmage, but a pretty good pickup,
nice chunk of yards across the twenty five up to
the twenty six yard line. There'll be a six yard
pickup there by. The Panthers second and four coming up.
Quarterback is Cohen Thomas. He's a junior, six foot, one
(29:58):
hundred and sixty five pounder. He'll a lot of handed
off in this wing tea. Look here, pull.
Speaker 8 (30:03):
Those cards, those ends, have to crash them down and
turn that thing back inside.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
Now they'll come back in line them wing backs and
they move good, call coach McCracken. Yeah, they lay line
those two wing backs up in the backfield almost like
a kind of a wishbone look. And then they go
in motion and line up in the old traditional wing
back set.
Speaker 6 (30:23):
And according to.
Speaker 8 (30:24):
Brian now they only run five plays and they're all
winged tea things.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
You remember winged tea.
Speaker 11 (30:29):
I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
He was a rapper, wasn't he.
Speaker 8 (30:33):
Wingslea belly powered traut and sweet and uh speed sweet.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
After the five yard penalty, second down and nine, Now
for the Panthers clock running here in the first quarter,
op like a leading seven nothing, five point fifty to play.
Thomas will go under center. Both those wing backs will
move up on the line of scrimmage. Now they bring
a man in motion counterplay here to Trevine Key who
gets the corner and he races out of bounds across
the thirty and they'll give him looks like around the
(31:01):
thirty two yard line. Get to be close to a
first down, Well they they're all mark him short though
there's a gain of eight, So marked him down at
the twenty nine yard lines where he got out. So
this will be a third down of one coming up
here for this wing t offense.
Speaker 6 (31:20):
This would be a belly or a power This is.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Kind of right up their alley, coach. Third down and
one something they can handle.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
Here.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
Thomas the quarterback will go under center. Five point fifty
five thirty nine. The clock is stopped at a third
and one. Thomas little inside give right at the thirty
one yard line will be enough for a first down.
Good job defensively, Trey Stone comes in there, rushing in
from the linebacker spot. Also Carson Riddle, big number ninety
(31:51):
nine on the defensive line.
Speaker 6 (31:52):
This is what we get.
Speaker 8 (31:53):
We don't want him to get these drives going, now, Van,
that's that's exactly what we did against the Mmers.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
So that's their first first down.
Speaker 2 (32:02):
Picked up two yards was enough for the first down.
So the Panthers will move the chains the I'll have
it from there on thirty one yard line. You know,
on their first possession against Central, they marched it right
down the field and scored. Here's a counter back to
the right side and a good tackle there by Terres
Thomas by the Again, the Panthers continues to move the
piles though, and they're going to give it up to
the thirty five yard line for a four yard pickup.
(32:24):
Initially was stopped for just a couple Jeremiah Old Jeremiah
Owen's number twenty four. That's a ninth grader. Coach Moore
was really impressed with this week, talking about him on
the carry there for the Panthers. He gets it up
to the thirty five yard line, setting up a second
down and six Now for Smith's station. As we go
under four forty four, forty five rather and the clock
(32:49):
running here in the first quarter, up like a leading
seven to nothing, the Dogs marks they're opening possession down
the field and scored. And this is the Panthers first
crack at it here on I fence. They've got a
second down in six. It's Tom Goes under center, gets
the stamp, quick inside handoff, really quick handoff to Brayln
Crowell tray Stone on the stop. There a couple of
(33:12):
yards up to the thirty seven yard line. It'll set
up a third and four for the Panthers. Four thirteen,
the clock running here in the first quarter.
Speaker 6 (33:22):
All right, here we go.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Isaiah Gray lined up to the defensive end, Carson Riddle,
Money Thomas, and over on the far right side. That's
Aiden Feeling quick inside hand, oh, quick outside give this
time is to Key gets the sidelines. We'll have enough
of the first down. He was forced out of bounds
(33:45):
by Jay Battle to Res Thomas, but it will be
enough for a smith'station Panther first down. They give him
the forty one yard line, so that's a four yard
pickup and just enough for the first down. It'll move
the chains and keep the clock running. This is what
the Panthers want to do. Shorten this ball game up.
Speaker 6 (34:03):
Man. You know, Josh Davis is not playing tonight.
Speaker 8 (34:05):
I don't know why Brian didn't mention him, and so
he's been replaced by Carson Riddle, and I just saw
he's a big boy too. Now, Jay Holloway, check out
of the ball game.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
He was in there on that series first and ten
Panthers from there on forty one yard line, moving from
left to right, quick give here near side to Owen's again,
and this time Owens is going to be brought down
around the thirty nine yard line. Didn't get musch racestone
on the tackle there, and I think they may get
a hold or a face mask actually on the Bulldogs,
(34:38):
as coach mentioned, it's going to be a face mask.
It'll be a fifteen yard penalty. Unfortunately against Opalaika, they're
on the tackle. I thought he had the shoulder pads.
I didn't think it was the face mask.
Speaker 6 (34:47):
I did too.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
He is conversing with the white hat. I didn't think
it was a face mask. But they're gonna wave it off.
I think that was a good call.
Speaker 6 (34:58):
That's great. Bad call by me.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
Yeah, I think it looked like a face mask, but
it wasn't a face mask because one of those he
got turned around kind of odd, but he had his
shoulder pads when he pulled him down. Just a good tackle,
loss of one back to the forty. It'll be a
second down and eleven play now for the Panthers, and
these negative plays not what they want. That's one thing Carver.
Last week they got a lot of negative plays against
(35:20):
miss station tackles in the backfield, those speed sweeps to
the edge, Coach, they got them for losses of four
and five yards. Right, Thomas goes under center, they'll bring
a man in motion. They'll give it to Key trying
to get the speed. Sweet nice job. Good in pursuit
by Norman Matthews and company there, not able to turn
it up field gets back to the line of scribbage. Actually,
and that's it. So it'll be a third and eleven
(35:42):
coming up here for the Panthers. Good job defensively there.
Can't let them get outside. One thing Coach Moore talked
about all week long was right, not letting them get out.
Speaker 6 (35:52):
This is their third third down conversion play. They're two
for two.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
Well, a lot of guys both lay. Elijah stonebreaker checks
in the ball game. He is a tight end.
Speaker 8 (36:06):
So far, so good against the wing t We just
we need to stop them right here.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
Fan, Yeah, gotta watch maybe the pass here. They may
try to sneak one in Thomas will go under center.
It'll be a third and eleven and if they get
close they may go for it here too, could be
two runs coming up. Thomas checks the sidelines. They'll let
the plate clock wind down to seven, down to six,
maybe getting ready to call a time out here. I
think coach Harrison is going to burn a time out.
(36:32):
He comes in and calls a time out. One fifty
six remaining here in the first quarter of play, stepping
uping Bulldogs with the lead. We're back after this time out.
We'll check down on the sidelines with Mac mccrack and
we come back here on the kicker head down on
(36:52):
the field where a four seasons Federal Credit Union sideliner
or b MAG was the message in the huddle there.
Speaker 10 (36:57):
Well, you know they're just to stop them rut here
Van and you know you you mentioned a minute ago,
you know, doing the one moment they liked that little
boot pass with that wheel route coming out the back.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
That.
Speaker 10 (37:06):
Yeah, so we this might be a dial up moment
right here where they were going to run that one.
Speaker 6 (37:10):
Yep, there's that. There's a halfback over there on that side.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Too, All right, Matt McCracken with the four seasons Federal
Credit Union sideline report. Panthers will have it for their
on forty yard line. This will be a third down
and eleven as Thomas is under center play action, No,
he'll hand it off and at backfield. What a nice
stop by the Bulldogs Trey Stone and Carson Riddle and
also Isaiah Gray in the backfield. Not fooled on that one.
(37:35):
No gain on the play, actually maybe a loss. I
think they're gonna market at the line of scrimmage at
Ford progress, So it'll be a fourth down and eleven
and the punting team coming out in here for Smith Stacia.
Speaker 8 (37:49):
That was huge right there, Van, that was a great
play by the left side of our front at terres.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Thomas hunter Welle will be the punter and he boots
it here to the near side. Andre Van comes over
and he'll watch it take a few rolls down to
the twenty five yard line, and that's where Opallaika Well
start first and ten on this drive here for the Bulldogs,
Opal like a marched it right down the field on
(38:17):
their first possession of the game and going seventy five
yards and it was C. J. Johnson capping that one
off with a short run inside the five to get
the Bulldogs the seven nothing. The lead almost chewed up
half the quarter and the Panthers almost took off the
remaining part of that with that drive. They had there
(38:40):
just one ten remaining here in the first quarter, and
the Bulldogs will start from their own twenty five yard line.
First and ten for kolbe Key and the offense wide
out either side here for the opal likea Bulldogs kee
brings Andre Van in motion from left to right. Key
gets the snap, The handoff goes to c J. Johnson.
(39:00):
CJ's tripped up at the line of scrimmage, gets up
for a couple around the twenty seven yard line, or
they'll mark him actually at the twenty eight. It looks
like about the twenty seven. Michael Bonner the big fella
in there for Smith's station again, sixty two, two hundred
and seventy five pounds senior. He's the biggest guy up
front for him on that defensive line. Second down and
(39:25):
seven play for the Bulldogs. Key gets the snamp, hand
off in the backfield goes to CJ. Johnson and CJ.
Carey's close to the first down marker. They're going to
mark him down at the thirty four yard line. That's
a seven yard pickup for Big C. J. Johnson before
Braden Will makes the stop. It'll be third and one
for the Bulldogs right at the thirty five yard line.
(39:46):
Bulldogs will waste no time getting out of the shot
gun and Kobe with a hard count almost gotten the
Panthers to jump in. There comes the flag. Hey you
go here, you go one. Martinez right in for the Panthers.
Jump now, that'll be a Lambert transfer in storage. First down.
Bulldogs will head on up to the forty yard line.
(40:07):
Cam Railey getting a lot of snaps for the Bulldogs
this week, and we'll see Keelan Banks some of these
younger whiteouts getting more opportunities here. It'll be a four
wide look here to either side for kolbe Key on
first and ten from his own forty yard line. Key
gets the snap passing situation here, Key throws and it's underthrown.
Old most intercepted, tried to get into Andre Van and
(40:29):
it falls incomplete. It was almost intercepted by Davian Lamb,
but that one was well underthrown there by Colby Key
and coach that maybe some of that Russ we were
talking about after being out a couple of weeks.
Speaker 6 (40:40):
Yeah, they shouldn't have thrown that ball.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
And he was on his back foot when he let
that one go and just didn't get enough on that
one second and ten Dogs from there on forty yard
line and a white out either side. Now for the Bulldogs,
we'll see if Opalaka goes back to the ground game
here Colby out of the shotgun, it will be a
handoff here near side. CJ. Johnson. Nice cut CJ forty five.
I CJ nearly broke it in a touchdown saving stop
(41:03):
maybe there by the Panthers braid and whale gets him
down at the forty nine yard line. Good run there
for nine yards by c. J. Johnson. And that is
the end of the first quarter. So at the end
of one the Bulldogs lead at seven to nothing and
Opelaka with a third and one when we start quarter
number two after this time out, you're listening to Bulldog
football here on the kicker back here a Panthers stadium.
(41:32):
As we get ready for the second quarter. O Polaka
with a seven to nothing lead, Bulldogs with the football
for just the second time here tonight, and I believe
we still have a heat time out on the field
here is well, we don't. That was just an opportunity
for the coaching staff to huddle up. It'll be a
third and one for Polaka Dogs when they're on forty
(41:52):
nine yard line right near midfield here, and Jordan Waite'
will be the tailback for the Bulldogs and Colby Key
out of the shot and gun white out either side
and dogs of there on a forty nine yard line
here to start the second quarter. Panthers really loading the
box here on third and one, hand off this to
Waits trying to run far side of the field, and
(42:12):
Waits got enough for the first down as he carries
it down to the forty nine yard line. Broke the tackle,
stayed up on his feet, and they're gonna give him
the sidelines and they're gonna give him the forty yard line.
Great run there by Jordan Waits, everybody, including myself, but
about giving up on that one instead of two he
gets eleven yards of laborate transfer and storage first down. Awesome,
great job not giving up, boy, Jordan. Putting so much
(42:35):
weight room work in the off season, it pays off
on those broken tackles. Yat yards play action. Here's kolbe
Key looking deep down field a pass and it is
a comeback and did he catch it? They say, yes, sir,
it is holed in and caught by Is that ce
J's No, that's Jalen Washington. Washington comes down with a
snag at the five yard line. Pass a little underthrown,
(42:59):
but it was haulted and caught it. The thirty five
yard pickup down to the five and labor transferring storage
first down. There was two defenders there. I thought they
may have a better play on it, but Washington did
a good job coming back for it, and the Bulldogs
set up first and goal at the five.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
C J.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
Johnson, the tail back now for Opalaikah in an I
formation with Waits lined up at the fullback, went hand
off to Johnson inside the five. Johnson stood up at
the two lunges ahead to the one, and he's going
to be down at the one, so got to be first,
second down and goal from the one yard line. Braden
(43:34):
Well on the stop there for Smith's station. Coach. I
don't know how in the world Jalen Washington caught that ball.
Speaker 6 (43:41):
I don't either.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
A mighty fine catch. Second and goal here from the
two yard line or right at the one. They'll give
it to the fullback which is Jordan Waits, and Ways
is in there for the Bulldog touchdown touchdown opalaykah ten
forty to go here in the first half and of
passing big path conversion there from Colby Key to Jalen
(44:03):
Washton thirty five yard strike sets up that touchdown and
Jordan Waits with his third rushing touchdown of the season.
Speaker 6 (44:10):
That's a great drive by ole Plaa.
Speaker 8 (44:12):
They went seventy five yards beautiful twice twice they did
that too, bab yep.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
Thirteen nothing now and ten forty to play here in
the first half, and there's Rehyes Beasley for the extra point.
Holder is wit Cooper good snap good a hole kicking
up and it is good. Fourteen nothing opal like over
Smith's station. That scoring drive power by OPLAKA Power Services
(44:39):
hometown people working for you online at opelikahpower dot com.
You're listening to Bulldog football dogs lead at fourteen nothing
here on the kicker. Well, welcome you back to Smith's
station where it's all Bulldogs so far fourteen nothing ople
like a leading with ten forty to play here in
the second quarter. End over end kick by Rhese Beasley
(45:02):
sales into the end zone almost out of the back
of the end zone, and it will be a touchback
for the bullet for Opelike on the kicking team there
in Smith's station's offense will come back out. They're able
to move the football, but they saw down on a
couple negative plays near midfield and were forced to punt
it away Opelike on their first two possessions against scoring touchdowns,
(45:23):
big thirty five yard pass from Colby Key the Jayalen
Washington on a thirty five yard strike setting up that
last score. First drive of the game, though it was run, run,
run down the field little chunks at a time, almost
a six minute drive, and Cohen Thomas and the Panthers
back out first and ten from their on twenty yard line.
Speaker 8 (45:43):
DJ Thomas, Tris Thomas, Junior, Mony Thomas.
Speaker 6 (45:48):
And jv In Holloway play it in there on defense.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
Upfront under center is Thomas, and here is a quick
hand off to the right side. Not much there, maybe
a couple yards there on the quick handoff, and that
was number twenty four. Jeremiah Owens the freshman again on
the handoff and just a yard on that one, So
(46:12):
just to picked up one and it'll be second down
to nine for the Panthers from their on twenty one
yard line.
Speaker 8 (46:18):
Carson Riddle is one of the other defensive linemen Kaden
Harris and Trey stone the linebackers Breton Howard, Jamail Griffin,
the corners Norman Matthews, a strong safety, Exavier Thomason, the
head Tonius Peters.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
The safeties Thomas under center as play action, wanted to
throw it down field, got somebody wide open and ad
just overshot him at midfield. That was intended for number
thirteen stone Breaker. That's right in. Good job and he
was open, but fortunately that one sailed over his head.
That was one thing coach Moore talked about all week.
(46:52):
Can't get lulled to sleep and then get hit with
the pass play. Fortunately that one over the head of
stone Breaker. It's third down and nine for the Panther
from their own twenty one yard line.
Speaker 6 (47:01):
That's the first pass man oh for one.
Speaker 2 (47:08):
Panthers taking their time as the quarterback.
Speaker 6 (47:12):
This is not a good down for a wing tee teem.
I mean really, it really is.
Speaker 8 (47:17):
Really At third and eleven, you have to They're gonna
have they're gonna do something different here.
Speaker 6 (47:22):
Might look for that little swing route up the sidelines.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
Thomas will go under center again, wing back either side
play action, gonna throw it again, steps up in the pocket,
he's in trouble and just throws it away. Good pressure
there by the Bulldog defense terres Thomas in his face
and that was a good play there. Defensively, it'll be
fourth down and nine and a punning time for the
Panthers of their own twenty one yard line. Bulldog set
(47:47):
up should get a good field position as Andre Van
return man for the Bulldogs, will be hovering around midfield.
It will wait this kick and we'll see Hunter Welld
who will punt it from inside the ten yard line
awaiting to snap.
Speaker 8 (48:03):
Yeah, he's he's at only thirty yards deep. This boy,
he kicks it, but it always goes straight.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
This is what bulldogers may try to go after. One
here just about got it. And that was almost Xavier
Thomas blocking another punt. Punter went down on the ground.
Speaker 5 (48:21):
Flag on that.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
But there's a flag. I think maybe a push out
of bounds on one of the teams.
Speaker 8 (48:30):
That's gonna be uh calling it. I think on us
it's our ball because the ball was punted.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
We'll see what the white hat says. It's gonna go
in Stopalaiko we boy Xavier Thomas close to blocking another punt.
He's had two block punts, two block field goals, two
fumble recovery. It's an interception for a touchdown, and ten
tackles on the season. He's been mister defense has.
Speaker 6 (48:59):
Look at this.
Speaker 2 (49:04):
Gold Eggs will have it near midfield after that penalty.
It'll be at the Smiths station forty nine yard line.
Speaker 6 (49:09):
Would we do push somebody?
Speaker 2 (49:11):
I think so.
Speaker 5 (49:13):
Well.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
We'll see Wit Cooper come in the ballgame.
Speaker 8 (49:14):
Coach.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
He's going to get an opportunity at quarterback here. So
Cooper will go out of the shotgun. There'll be two
whiteouts either side. Tail back is Jordan Waits. They'll bring
a couple of blockers from the left side over to
the right side and now white out in motion and
(49:35):
looks like it's going to be a throwback. They got
a guy wide open, Andre Van. He's got inside the twenty,
inside the ten to five touchdown. Jalen Washington to Andre Van.
Jalen Washington when a touchdown pass. That'll probably be the
first of his career and a nice trick place knocking
wit Cooper. They handed it to Jalen Washington and a
(49:56):
forty nine yard touchdown. There's a flag down at midfield.
Oh oh goodness, and let's see what the white hat says.
Everybody coming back now on this one. It's going to
be a hold against Opalaika. My goodness, what a backbreaker
on that one.
Speaker 8 (50:11):
Call that flag man till how long good did he
wait to call that flag?
Speaker 2 (50:16):
Well, I think we all went to the right and
I guess it was thrown during it. There'll be a
ten yard penalty backing the Bulldogs up. Wit Cooper will
stay in the ballgame. Well, that'll erase a forty nine
yard touchdown and Jalen Washington's going to come on my
one pass of my career and coming back for holding.
(50:37):
Nine thirty four remaining here in the first half. Ope
like a leading fourteen nothing. Whit Cooper in the ball
game at quarterback last week eight to nine, one hundred
and thirty yards, three touchdowns, pretty good statistics in his
first start. Certainly saw a little bit of russ from
Kobe Key.
Speaker 6 (50:51):
Well you gotta.
Speaker 2 (50:51):
Imagine too, he's probably a little winded too. Coming back
from sickness after a couple of weeks. It'll be a
handoff left side. This is Jalen Nelson on his first
carry up the ball game and Jalen carries up close
to the thirty eight yard line, ending up.
Speaker 6 (51:10):
To do here you're tackle fighting.
Speaker 5 (51:14):
The second down.
Speaker 8 (51:18):
Oh, we gotta get back control of this game now,
Dogs and they're on thirty eight yard line.
Speaker 2 (51:25):
It will be second down in a mile coming up
here for the Bulldogs. Went Cooper drops back, nice strike
throw complete at the forty four, turning the sidelines down
field inside the forty inside the thirty and out of
the twenty five yard line was andre Van. A strike
from went Cooper and the pass was completed the forty
(51:46):
five and then after that, andre Van did the work
all the way down to the twenty five yard line
for a thirty seven yard throw and catch, an elaborate
transfer and storage first down to the twenty five Assmiths
station first and ten Opelaika Cooper out of the shot
gun with white out. Two white outs to the right.
(52:06):
Here's Nelson Nelson breaking tackles inside the twenty and Jalen
Nelson falling across the pile down to the nineteen yard
line for six yards. Good run there by Jalen Nelson.
We had a chance to talk to him a bunch
this week and he is itching to get into the
end zone. Maybe he can break one here. Second out
(52:27):
in three fourteen nothing Opelaika. Darius Whitblow having to come
out of the ballgame for Opelakah the big fellow. And
now wit Cooper's got two white outs to the right,
single receiver to the left side. Cooper play action, pressure
in his face, throws a nice ball in the back
of the end zone and is holding it is called touchdown.
Bulloffs Andre. Then another strike from wit Cooper his fourth
(52:48):
touchdown and in the back of the end zone. Andre
then comes down with it touchdown. Opelaika, What to throw
Coach mccrackett, Yes, sir, well, you couldn't place a ball
any better than that. And the defense coming in on
wit Cooper. He stood in the pocket and made a
nice heck of a throw and Opal like is up
twenty to nothing. Here's the point after a tempt from
(53:11):
Reese Beasley and Cooper will stay in and hold and
Reese Beasley for the point after seven fifty three left.
Here in the first half. Good stamp placed down and
the kick is up and it is good Dogs on top,
twenty one to nothing. That's scoring drive and power by
(53:33):
Opal like a power services hometown people working for you,
all light at oplelikapower dot com. We're back after this
time out. You're listening to bulldog football. Here on the kicker,
Bulldog's back. Well on the score and call them again.
(53:53):
There twenty one nothing, seven fifty three remaining. A nineteen
yard throwing catch from Witt Cooper as he hooks up
with Andre Van, Cooper's fourth touchdown of the season. And
he's got pretty good statistics right now and it's limited
work so far this season.
Speaker 6 (54:13):
Time of possession is twenty one for the Dogs and.
Speaker 2 (54:16):
Twelve thirty seven yard completion to Van, and then he
followed it up with a nineteen yard touchdown throw to Van.
Pretty good coach two for two with those stats. Here
is Reese Beasley to kick things off from left to right,
end over end kick and it sells into the back
(54:36):
of the end zone. Another touchback, seven to fifty three remaining,
Bulldogs with a twenty one to nothing lead, and here
comes Smiths Station's offense. They had a little success on
their first drive, and that is kind of to be expected,
Coach McCracken. It's a little unique, even as much as
you've worked on it at practice, you know, Coach Moore
is only so good at a scout team quarterback. And yes, sir,
(54:57):
you know after gets settled in, really had some negative plays.
Defense really stood up and have been really good. The
past couple of offensive series. Smith's station has had very
little to celebrate.
Speaker 8 (55:09):
We don't want to give them anything here now we
have twenty one to nothing, no big plays right now,
they do not have a big play, a run over
ten or a pass over fifteen.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
So here's the Panthers Cohen Thomas under center, Mickel would
and we'll see what they decided to go with here,
trying to go here near signs, hold penalty the tailback
and go flag.
Speaker 6 (55:35):
For Brian more furious.
Speaker 2 (55:37):
I think they missed that one. Trevine King on the
carry and he was able to get out shine and
break containment up to the twenty six yard line. There'll
be a six yard pickup, second out and four geez
under seven thirty clock running here in the first half,
twenty one nothing.
Speaker 6 (55:55):
Opelaika with the lead, go back to the field. I
bet you.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
Panthers from their own twenty six yard line, Thomas is
gonna drop back, wants to throw throws out towards the
flats keys, got it, turns it up field across the
twenty five out of bounds around the thirty yard line.
Gotta be close to a first down. Antonius Peters on
the stop for Opalaika marked him down to the twenty
nine yard line, So pick up a just three yards,
(56:30):
so it'll be third down and one coming up here
for the Panthers. Tried to catch up with like a
napping settle for a little short throw in the flats.
Clock stopped as the receiver went out of bounds. Seven
oh two remaining here in the first half. Third down
and one for the Panthers for their own twenty nine
(56:51):
yard line and quick hand off to the right side.
This will be enough for the first down up to
the thirty two yard line. And that was Luke Sexton
on the run there for the bull for the Panthers.
Elijah Odin on the stop for the Bulldogs. Three yard
pick up enough for a first down that will move
the chains for the Panthers. They'll have the line of
(57:12):
scrimmage their thirty three yard line. Termaine Thomas checks out
of the ball game for the Bulldogs getting a breather.
Saw the Keydrick Burks before the game on the sidelines.
He had successful surgery on that arm. It's not in
a cast, but in a sling, and then he's just
gonna have to wait his time, let that arm heal.
(57:34):
We wish him the best. First and ten for the
thirty three trying to go pass again downfield, tipped a
nice play by there by Opelika number twenty three, Braden Howard.
He's been playing really good cornerback and he came in
and knocked that one away. It was intended for Davian
Leonard of Smith's station. Incomplete good job. Blacael Stitte was
six twenty one left here in the second quarter, second
(57:56):
ten Opelaika with a twenty one nothing lead over Smith's
and a second and ten coming up with the Panthers
from their own thirty three yard line. Panthers when Thomas
under center again and a quick handoff nearly broke. It
was Luke Sexton on the handoff.
Speaker 6 (58:16):
That's the belly play.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
Yeah, sexteen close to the forty yard line, stopped at
the thirty nine yard line. That'll be six yards. They
will be third down and four coming up. Braden Howard
on the stop there for Opeliken. We see Tremaine Thomas
after a quick breather check it in the ball game,
Isaiah Gray will come out.
Speaker 8 (58:33):
Yeah, those ends have got to squeeze down when that
guard when that tight end box down at guard pools,
we didn't get it.
Speaker 2 (58:40):
Then, Yeah, big down here for the Bulldog defense.
Speaker 8 (58:42):
A third and four.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
Panthers from there on a thirty nine yard line, quick
inside give again to Sexton, this time stood up there
by the defense, tray Stone and Tremaine Thomas and the
whole gang over there to put up a brick wall.
If tray Stone comes up celebrates.
Speaker 6 (59:00):
He's gonna go for this. I would imagine.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
Kate and Harris also there. Linebacker's really crashing down and
it's gonna be a fourth down and one, and Smith's
station showing that they're gonna go forward. Here the coach
Harrison comes over, talks to his quarterback Cohen Thomas. Got
a watch for a hard count here too. Come on
(59:22):
day line of scrimmage the forty two yard line Panthers
from there on forty two five oh two clock running
Bulldog's leading twenty one nothing, trying to get a fourth
down stop under center's Thomas quick inside hand off. He's
stood up, he's going backwards. No, he broke it outside,
popped it down the sidelines. My goodness, Trevine Key.
Speaker 6 (59:45):
On the run.
Speaker 2 (59:46):
He was stood up, kept his feet moving and was
somehow spun out of there down the sidelines. He'll get
a first down. They're gonna mark him down. It looks
like at the forty nine yard line, a right at
a ten yard pickup and a first down. Boy, the
Bulldogs had him stood up, just didn't wrap him up,
(01:00:07):
bring him down, and Trevin Keith of junior five ten,
one hundred and sixty five pounds are able to bounce
it outside and pick up the Smiths Station first down
down to the forty nine yard line of Opala like
a first intense Smiths station. Dogs leading twenty one nothing
here with four to forty seven remaining here in the
second quarter, Thomas undersoner one wing back, this time to
(01:00:30):
the left, quick hand off, no play action, want to
throw in in the middle of the field. Caught at
the thirty nine yard line. That is Davian Leonard and
Davian Lamb Rayden Howard on the stop first down as
they got it down to the thirty seven yard line
for a twelve yard pickup in a Smith's station. First down,
(01:00:55):
four point thirty two clock running here in this second quarter.
Good pass here by Thomas that was in a lot
of traffic too, and was able to find Davy and
Lamb number eight. Lamb is a two way player playing
defense and offense. He's lined to begin wide to the
(01:01:16):
right side. Thomas under center play action, wants to throw
again again one of the wide receivers wide open. This
is actually the tailback Trevine Key, who's got it near
the thirty yard line for around seven yards. Good throwing
cats here like Cohen Thomas. Panthers going through the air
here after so much concentration on that run game.
Speaker 8 (01:01:38):
Yeah, well, we gotta do better holding up these tight
ends and wing backs and get pressure on this quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:01:45):
We'll be secking down in three coming up here for
the Panthers. Now they're where they want to run the
football down at the open, like a thirty yard line.
Four four to go here the first half spec station.
We'll get the football to start the second half, so
a score here will be big. Thomas under center. They
will give it off this time right side, and there
(01:02:06):
is a flag down from the side judge, and I
believe Opalaka sign lines of plodding. Maybe maybe I hold
against the Panthers. We'll see, we'll wait the signal from
the white hat. It is a hold no personal foul
(01:02:32):
block below the waist. That's a big one there. Fifteen
yard or Mack McCracken, I know the sidelines are really
working down there.
Speaker 6 (01:02:38):
Yeah, they are right there. Coach Ward is living on
that shop block right there.
Speaker 10 (01:02:42):
Cut our guy, but you know, defensively we're holding strong here.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
Back McCracken with a four seasons Federal Credit Union sideline
report as we come to you, also from the North
Pedic Clinic Broadcast booth, East Alabama's go to center for
orthopedic care. After that penalty backs things back to the
forty yard line. So this will be a second down
and around fourteen coming up for the Panthers. They'll go
(01:03:07):
under center. Thomas play action again, wants to throw here
near sides, got a man open. It is caught by
Owens and he's forced out of bounds. After picking up
the first down inside the twenty five down around the
twenty four yard line. Jay Battle forces him out of bounds,
but a good throw and a good catch picks up
close to sixteen yards and it'll be enough for a
(01:03:29):
first down. Panthers moving the chains through the air here
on this drive. They've been really good at that play
action pass. Clok's out with three twenty one remaining as
they move the chains for the first down and the
score here, like we mentioned, could be huge as miss station.
We'll try to get the football back and.
Speaker 8 (01:03:44):
Yeah, they've tied us up on a time of possession
twenty plays apiece.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
Thomas goes under center, defense shifts over quick stamp and
the hand off trying to go outside is Owens, the freshman,
and he did a good job turning down the sidelines
on that far side of the field near the Smiths
Station sideline, and he's gonna pick up five six yards
again seven yards time out at Opelika, gonna take a
(01:04:17):
time out, try to settle the troops here, try to
find a way to slow down this Smith's Station offense
on this drive. We'll take a time out as well.
Two fifty to go here in this second quarter, twenty
one nothing Opalaka, but the Panthers threatening we come back here.
Listen to bulldog football here on the kicker out of
(01:04:39):
the timeout, second down and three here four the Smith's
Station Panthers down close to the fifteen yard line and
a quick inside hand of it again staying on his
feet was number twenty seven Luke Sexton. Somehow kept churning
those legs. He's gonna get a first down at around
the twelve yard line and set up a fir down
(01:05:00):
in ten for the Panthers. Nose of the football right
at the eleven yard line. So a good pick up
there by Luke Sixton. He is a junior. Not many
seniors this pan Smith Station Panther team for coach Blair
Harrison in the storm tank next year. Yeah you're us right, coach.
Twelve seniors and a very small bunch on the sidelines too.
(01:05:21):
They probably don't have over forty kids over there under
center's Thomas hand off. Back here near side inside the
ten yard line, racing down close to around the six
yard line was the tailpack.
Speaker 5 (01:05:40):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
They do it really tough, and I don't think this
is too much different on offense than what they were
doing last year. So it wasn't kind of like reinventing
the wheel going to the wing tea. I think that's
the eight yard line they're on, I think so.
Speaker 6 (01:05:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
Very hard to see these yard lines here, but they're
inside the tea. Down at around the eight. As coach mentioned,
here will be us around a second down and eight
for the Panthers, quick hand off to Sexton. This time
he has stood up there and a big pile downs
in the mile yardland trying to see who came with
(01:06:17):
tray Stone there and company on the stop there for
the Bulldogs. Down to one twelve remaining five yard line yep,
and this will be a third and five right at
the five yard line. Panthers could get a first down
at around the three yard line or right at the
(01:06:43):
goal line at the five yard line. Here's Sex and
again he's cut down, no gain on the play. There's
tray Stone to meet him, and it will be fourth
down and coach Blair Harrison comes in and burns a
quick time out here with forty six seconds left, and
it'll be fourth down coming up here for the Panthers.
A trail twenty one to nothing. We'll see what they
decide to do after this time out. You're listening to
(01:07:03):
bulldog football.
Speaker 8 (01:07:04):
Here.
Speaker 2 (01:07:04):
I'm the kicker. Fourth down coming up here for the
Smiths stationed Panthers at the five yard line, and Mac
set us up here. What we're looking at it's hard
to see for us.
Speaker 6 (01:07:22):
Yeah, they just uh you got about we'll see.
Speaker 10 (01:07:24):
We're at the five yard line, van, so you know,
and they get a first down at the game four.
So you know, they were just coaches. We're just telling them,
you know, make sure what's that fullback? Leak it out
there in the flats, Dad on that boat.
Speaker 8 (01:07:36):
That's what I think they're gonna They gonna throw that
belly pass.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
That's a fourth down and fourth then right now, yes, correct, correct?
Speaker 6 (01:07:43):
What's that fullback? Is what the key and on? All right?
Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
Inside the five yard line, right at the five yard line,
it'll be fourth down and four big fourth down here
for the Panthers, and the play is blown dead. I
believe they got a false start. Look, Matt mccracking that
what you said.
Speaker 6 (01:08:00):
I don't know. I think that's on us.
Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Oh no, all right, we'll wait. The white hat here
it is off sides against Oplaiko. Goodness, they might run it. Now,
roll the big key here. I don't believe it was
enough for a first down. It's still gonna be fourth
(01:08:25):
and fourth down, and one of the nose of the
football is at the one yard line, is it not.
The white hat comes over. Coach Moore is halfway out
in the field. They want some clarification. I think the
spot of the football here is too close to the
goal line. It was a half the distance. So yeah,
they moved it. Yeah, so they moved it back. It
is fourth down, Mac. We're looking at about fourth and
(01:08:46):
one here, yeah, yes, correig Man, all right, fourth and
one and down at around the two yard line for
Smith's station. Forty five seconds left. Panthers trying to get
on the board for the first time tonight. They trailed
twenty one nothing and just forty five seconds left, fourth
down and one very tough to de fnd this run
offense here for Smiths station under center's Thomas. Boy, somebody moved.
Speaker 8 (01:09:10):
There's no flag and they're bottled up.
Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
I don't think he got it. Dogs say they stopped him,
and they're saying first down.
Speaker 5 (01:09:21):
Boy.
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
Coach Moore out with his hands thrown in the air.
Speaker 6 (01:09:27):
It's a football.
Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
I hope Alika coming up with the football. I hope
Alika saying they've got the ball. There's been no signal
here by the officials. They're marking first down. They're just
marking it down at the one. It's gonna be first
in gold for the Panthers. Very bizarre. Coach More, I
think may burn a time out here. He's about halfway
(01:09:54):
out on the field. A white hat comes over. I
mean he's gonna talk to the side judge. Hey, now
we've got an official time out. Now he's calling off.
Now they're gonna measure for the first time. Okay, Mac
will be Look at that here, matg you think we're close?
Speaker 6 (01:10:19):
Is short short? Good? A short? All right?
Speaker 2 (01:10:23):
Well, Mat mc craken says, short, he's right on it.
He's about as close as you can get.
Speaker 8 (01:10:27):
All right.
Speaker 6 (01:10:27):
If you miss this with Macimon'll get you on the
way home.
Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
We're gonna we're gonna leave him at the Lee County
Flea market. M and Deale Wolf short short dog stopped
him first down, Okolaika with thirty six seconds. There you go,
thirty six seconds left here in the second quarter. Coach
(01:10:54):
Blair Harrison, he's on the field now, irate, but the
Bulldogs get the stop they needed there, and that is
a very frustrating turn of events there for Smith Station.
They had a really good drive there going mixing the
pass with the run, and now wit Cooper brings the
troops out. Gotta be careful with the football here with
(01:11:16):
just thirty six seconds left and you are from your
own two yard line here, so don't want to make
a mistake here, just thirty six seconds remaining, Opelikah, we'll
go under center here with Cooper checks the sidelines, Dogs
leading twenty one. Nothing big stop there at the two yards.
That fourth down play came up empty for the Smith's Station. Panthers.
(01:11:38):
Quick inside hand off here, Opelikah. Nice run by Jordan
Waits up to the ten yard line. Waits gets eight
yards and Smith's Station quickly comes in and burns a
time out. It looks like, you know, they have not
stopped the clock. I heard a whistle. Opelikah. Will try
to run in another play here. Looks like under twenty
(01:12:00):
seconds they don't have to take a snap if they
don't want to. Down to fifteen. Down to fourteen, Cooper
out of the shotguy. They will run another play. Cooper
wants to throw here near sight. Andre Van's got it
and he's out of bounds. With five seconds left, he
picks up a Lambert transfer in storage, first down up
to the twenty yard line, so a quick ten yard
(01:12:23):
pickup there. Now I'll check that they warked it down
at the seventeen.
Speaker 6 (01:12:30):
It looks like.
Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Still enough for a first down just five seconds to go, though,
hopell like I see it if they maybe can bust
one here. Smiths station playing pretty tight here. Cooper gets
the snap, hands the ball off left side, and a
good run there by Jalen Nelson as he carries it
up close to the first down marker. But that will
be the end of the first half of play with
Opal like E leading Smith's Station twenty one to nothing.
(01:12:57):
Mac McCracken coming up with a visit with coach Brian
Moore as heads into the locker room. Jason Lee coming
up with our halftime report. Crapville leading Hoover big tonight.
That would be a big win for Pratbell as the Lions.
We'll have more of those scores from around the area.
I don't want to steal Jason's thunder too much, but
(01:13:21):
down on the field, Mack McCracken getting ready to talk
to coach Brian Moore. Matt, you can take it away.
Speaker 6 (01:13:25):
Thanks a lot.
Speaker 10 (01:13:26):
Coach wore huge stuff right there before having you talked
all week about Hey, guys, don't get complacent with your
eyes against this misdirection offense, your thought it's on the first.
Speaker 6 (01:13:33):
Half, it was just okay.
Speaker 4 (01:13:35):
I mean, you know, biggest thing offensively we get, we
get shoving behind the play, so we take a sixty
five yard touchdown off the board.
Speaker 6 (01:13:42):
We can't do those kinds of things.
Speaker 5 (01:13:43):
We're not clean.
Speaker 4 (01:13:44):
I thought last week in the first half we were
cleaner than this. It's not been super clean. And then
look if you don't if you don't win first down
right there, they're gonna be in second four, second three.
That's a tough deal man. And so we got to
do a better job of tackling. I don't think our
front has shown up. I mean, tray Stoles made a
bunch of plays. The back again has done pretty good
job at tackling. But we got to show up up
front and win some of those one on ones.
Speaker 6 (01:14:04):
Okay, offensively, we had a couple of big plays.
Speaker 10 (01:14:06):
You know, you want to turn it around and say, hey, guys,
let's do it all four quarters.
Speaker 6 (01:14:09):
What do we gotta address offensively?
Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
Well, man, I think maybe we've scored on all three possessions,
but that's how this game is gone. It's been slow,
you know, and they're you know, taking the air out
of it, but we're doing the same thing. We're having
to run the ball a good bit. It's not been
super clean up front, but again we have had some explosives.
We've got to have more in a second half. Let's
go turn to your dogs. Thanks Matt, all.
Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
Right, thanks so much. Mac mack on the field with
coach Brian Moore. Twenty one nothing here at the half.
We come back Jason Lee alongside with coach Spence mccracky
that we run down some of the area scores and
we'll continue with more here from t C britton Field,
Panther Stadium. After this time out. You're listening to Bulldog
football here on the kicker. Welcome back here to Panther Stadium,
(01:14:55):
t C britton Field. As we get ready for the
second half. I'm being rigged alongside coach. It's McCracken. Mac
McCracken roaming our sidelines. Jason Lee with a great halftime
report there and glad to be back with you here,
Mac McCracken. What was the message there in the locker room?
Speaker 10 (01:15:10):
Hey guys, you know they just had all the coaches
just put up and basically have a lot more time
with themselves, and then they addressed and addressed the team.
But you know when coach Moore just kept pushing, you know,
was just getting better kind of like you said at
the end of the half right there and then where
over coach massive defensive coordinators just talking about just getting faster.
We gotta be faster, faster, faster, and they really want
(01:15:30):
to get on that first down to you know, coach
Wore was just heaping on that first down. We got
to be better on first down, first down, first down.
So let's see if they heard the message.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
Boys, all right, Matt McCracken with a four seasons Federal
credit eating sideline report. Bulldogs won the toss. They elected
to get the football to start the game, so it
be Smith's station, which we'll get the football to start
the second half. A big stop by Opalaika there on
that fourth down and one at the two yard line
to really wrap up the first half. Got a four
and we'll sail into the end zone. Other could kick
(01:15:59):
off by Reese Beasley. He's perfect tonight, an extra and
kicking it into the end zone. Coach touchbacks every time.
Speaker 8 (01:16:06):
Boy, he's doing well, he really is. He made a
lot of improvement. Hey, when they have to start from
the twenty, that's great.
Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
So here comes Smith's Station's offense. Now, this wing tea
caused a little bit of trouble for the Smith's Station defense,
especially there in that last drive as the Panthers are
able to march it all the way down drive stalled
out there on the fourth and one at the two
yard line. And the Panthers will start first and ten
from their on twenty yard line. They trail twenty one
nothing as we get ready to open up the second half.
(01:16:36):
Here twelve minutes on the clock here in the third quarter,
and it will be Thomas going under center. Both wing
backs come up, and it will be a counter here
left side and slipping a tackle breaking one, breaking two
in a good run there by Trevin Key. He's going
to be close to a first down and they'll have
the first down up to the thirty five yard line.
(01:16:56):
He picks up fifteen yards on that run, first, Cody
Jackson on the stop there for the Bulldogs, coach Brian
Moore said he wanted to see more from his guys
up front.
Speaker 8 (01:17:09):
We'll see there was a big play right there. Fifteen
yard game. Yeah, right off the bat on first down
under center goes Thomas, got two wing backs, brings a
man in motion and hand all far side of the field,
(01:17:30):
gets the sidelines, able to turn it up and gonna
be close to another first down. That's up to the
forty four yard line or up to the forty five.
It'll be a first down. Trevon can not quite a
first down. They marked him own actually at the forty
one yard line. So seven yard pickups second down and
three for the Panthers. Just underway in the second half
(01:17:51):
eleven eighteen to play Panthers from their on.
Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
Forty one yard line, They'll line one wide receiver wide
to the right, loop Maguire out here all alone under
center is Thomas. He'll just bring back the one wing
back this time and a quick hand off left side,
cut down right at the line of scrimmage. Popped up
state on his feet though, and able to get up
close to the forty five yard line for four yards
he was hung up for about a yard pickup, but
(01:18:18):
able to keep his legs moving and not drop that
knee on the ground. Good tough running by Luke's sexton
number twenty seven there for the Panthers. Panthers from their
own forty four yard line, it will be very close
to the first down, third down and one, as it's
(01:18:39):
marked right now, and I think Coach Harrison wanting a
measurement here, and I believe he's going to get a measurement.
Will very close to the first down. Defense will have
to move back as we're going to have a measurement
here with ten fifty one remaining here in the third quarter.
(01:19:00):
Coming to you from the Orthopedic Clinic Broadcast Booth, East
Telabama's go to center for orthopedic care two locations eighteen
hundred Lake Side Circle in Auburn and eighteen Medical Arts
Center one twenty one North twentieth Street in OPELAANKA. They're
going to stretch the chain out all the way over
(01:19:21):
on the far side of the field here. I think
they're a little short. Yeah, looks like they are a
yard almost Yeah. Total fee third down and inches coming
up here for the Panthers. Bout a half of half
a yard short. You'd imagine four down territory anyway here
for Smiths station at this point of ballgame here trailing
(01:19:43):
three scores, twenty one to nothing, and with their offense,
that's a lot to get back here, three scores down
as they liked.
Speaker 8 (01:19:52):
To and yeah, you know they've only completed two of
three passes.
Speaker 6 (01:19:57):
So and then that was in that second quarter.
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
Yeah, all on one drive too. Panthers Rother on forty
four yard line. It'll be third down and one coming
up with ten to fifty one to go in the
third quarter again up, but like a leading twenty one
to nothing.
Speaker 6 (01:20:12):
They gonna run the belly here. I would imagine.
Speaker 2 (01:20:18):
White hat checks the sidelines waiting for the chains to
get correctly set here before we can resume play. Clock
starts back at the Panthers will go under center again,
the quarterback Thomas with two backs actually yeah, two backs
of the backfield now with the one wing back set
hand off far side of the field, Key gets the
forty five yard line. That'll be enough for the first
(01:20:39):
Dom just needed a yard. I think they'll give them
maybe the forty six yard line after the forward progress
money Thomas on the stop for the Bulldogs, and he
will give him the forty six. So he picks up
two yards and a panther first down.
Speaker 6 (01:20:55):
That's four first downs. Ain't gonna cut it, guys.
Speaker 2 (01:21:00):
Ten twenty two. Clark starts back running here in the
third quarter.
Speaker 6 (01:21:04):
Brian Moore is exactly right. We have not stopped him
on first down yet.
Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
And they're really not trying to run outside a whole lot.
It's been up in the middle, trying to go in
between the tackles. They'll go with a farce that time
they went outside and a good pick up there by
trevine Key turning the corner. It gets across the fifty,
he'll be down around the forty eight yard line of
Opalaiko killing us. That'll be close to six yards is
killing us on the edge. Tradon Howard comes up and
(01:21:31):
makes the stop. Well, the Bulldogs certainly will have to.
Speaker 8 (01:21:37):
You know, you know what, Terres Thomas, one of the Thomases,
is not playing. Yeah, I hadn't seen him in there either.
Terres are uh who are therez is playing? Terrez is
playing okay, and Tremaine.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Is playing as well. Both those Thomases are in. So
second down in four play coming up here for the Panthers,
and it'll be a handoff here trying to get near side,
and then I stopped that time at the line of
scrimmage getting Jeremiah Owens. The freshman down was Norman Matthews.
I stopped there by Norman Matthews. Isaiah Gray also number fifteen.
(01:22:14):
There so no gain on that play. It'll be third
down and four, big down here for the defense, Money
Thomas Gray, Terres Thomas at number ninety nine, Carson Riddle
the big guys up front, and Norman Matthews look like
he'll be sneaking up on the line of scrimmage here
as well.
Speaker 6 (01:22:32):
They're probably gonna go back outside.
Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
Left Tray Stone Elijah Oden the linebackers here for the Bulldogs.
Third down and four at the forty seven of Opalaika.
Here's a quick hand off inside slipping, breaking tackles with
a first down. Run is number twenty seven, Luke sixt
in the junior. He's got a first down, able to
break tackles and carry it down close to the thirty
(01:22:55):
six yard line. That play is good for eleven years
and that's a Panther first down. Jacody Jackson was there
on the stop for the Bulldogs.
Speaker 6 (01:23:05):
That's four first downs.
Speaker 2 (01:23:07):
Panthers marching it down the field. Coach more or I'm
telling you frustrated on the sidelines, trying to find a
way to slow these guys down. Coaching. A couple of weeks,
it'll be Dothan coming in. It'll be a very similar offense. Certainly,
good to see it before you play Dothan. Here, two
(01:23:30):
wing back set again, they'll bring a man in motion.
They'll give it to Key. Good stop there that time
by the Bulldog defense, and that was Isaiah Gray bringing
it down for a tackle for loss as he hemmed
up Trevon Key. No gain on the play. They'll say
it'll be second down and ten line of scrimmage again,
we'll stay the thirty six yard line of Opalaika. Clark
(01:23:53):
has stopped at the moment.
Speaker 6 (01:23:54):
Here. What is this a penalty.
Speaker 2 (01:23:59):
Personal well mask? Oh my goodness, a face mask against Opelaika.
That's going to be a fifteen yard or what a
back breaker after the big negative play and that's going
to be a fifteen yard penalty. It'll move the football
all the way down to the twenty one yard line
of Opelaiko. So face mask on the tackle there on
(01:24:19):
Key and it'll be a fifteen yard penalty. Now Smiths
station will slow things down as the clock starts back,
So seven point forty and the clock continues to run.
This is what they want to do. They keep the
football away from the offense as much as they can.
And just before you can blink yes, about halfway through
the third quarter here they got so seven to twenty five.
The clock continues to run opal like a leading twenty
(01:24:41):
one to nothing Panthers marching their way down the field.
Quick inside handoff and a nice stop there bringing down
Luke Sexton on the play was the Bulldogs. That's number
ninety five Jay Holloway on the stop there for the Bulldogs.
Good John J. Holloway coming in there. He wrapped him
up right away and didn't let him get away.
Speaker 6 (01:25:00):
That's how yard minus U one. Y'all back to the
twenty two.
Speaker 2 (01:25:04):
It'll be second down and eleven coming up for the
Panthers as we wind under seven minutes to play here
in the third quarter. Already the way this game's going,
Coach Overla like, I may not get the football on offense,
but maybe two more times yep. Six forty three clock
continues to run as Thomas goes under center of the
(01:25:25):
quarterback for the Panthers. Now they'll bring the two wing
backs up, bring a man in motion play action they
want to throw and they'll dump it off and it
is incomplete at the fifteen yard line. He underthrew his
intended wide receiver that was number two Trevine Key Jay
Battle was in good coverage for the Bulldogs. That stops
the clock. With six twenty nine to go in the
(01:25:45):
third quarter. It'll be third and eleven.
Speaker 6 (01:25:47):
That's the first pass the second half.
Speaker 2 (01:25:52):
So this is a big down here for the Bulldog defense.
Speaker 6 (01:25:55):
This is their tenth play.
Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
This is not where the Panthers want to be in
a third and eleven and they're at the opal like
a twenty two yard line. Panther's moving from left to
right and opel like a leading twenty one to nothing.
Flak's topped here. The third quarter was six twenty nine
to play. Cohen, I'll go with Thomas brother under center.
(01:26:20):
Single back set is Luke Sexton. They'll fake it. Wants
to throw back. Now they throw deep towards the end zone,
laying out for it and called for the Panther touchdown
as the freshman Jeremiah Owens. He laid out, made a
nice snag in the end zone and that one was
putting right where he needed to Cohen Thomas for the
Smith's Station touchdown. I thought he overthrew him. But a
(01:26:42):
nice layout there by the ninth grader, Jeremiah Owens. That
is going to be a good player. He's been really
good tonight. That was a freshman coach more really praise
watching film and comes through with a big snag in
the end zone. Moment not too big for him. And
here's Ethan Monka for the extra point. The hold will
be number one Cohen Thomas and this is about to
(01:27:03):
be a two possession game. With six twenty four left
in the third quarter, snap good place and the extra
point up and good almost blocked by you know who,
Xavier or Thomas, but just got through there and it's
up and good twenty one seven. Smith's Station makes it
a fourteen point game with six twenty four left in
the third and you're listening to Bulldog football right here
(01:27:24):
on the kicker back here at Panther Stadium in Smith's Station.
Twenty one to six, Mac, I do guess he missed
the extra point I missed that one.
Speaker 6 (01:27:40):
Yeah he did.
Speaker 10 (01:27:41):
But uh, they finally ran that wheel ride out in
the back that we've been talking about on the first
half right there and called us. So yeah, sidelight, ain't happy.
Players ain't happy. That was you know, they never stopped
him first down. I was thinking down that just kept
running right at us and got us right there. So
we just got to respond offensively.
Speaker 4 (01:27:58):
Here.
Speaker 6 (01:27:58):
See if we make some docipal Steve Pensylvan to get.
Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
Stuck all right, there's a low line drive kick, it
will bounce up and we'll be fielded by the Bulldogs.
This is CJ. CJ across the forty five CJ cross midfield.
CJ makes a man miss this fam move and stays
on his feet at the thirty five thirty. CJ's inside
the twenty five, twenty, CJ cutting the fifteen inside the
ten and CJ's all the way down of the six
(01:28:21):
yard line. Want a return by CJ. Johnson. That's just
what the doctor ordered. Big time return by c J. Johnson. Hey,
he's got the Bulldogs set up inside to ten where
they marked him down and it looks like the at
the seven yard line. Want a return by CJ. Johnson
(01:28:45):
and he almost took it in. CJ. Pink and Colby
Kee will check in the ballgame. I haven't seen CJ.
Pink get a carry yet. Colby Kee'll be out of
the shotgun at seven yard line. They'll bring a man
in motion. Andre Van goes left to right, handed to
Pink pouncing outside. Pink at the five and CJ steed
(01:29:08):
on his feet. CJ's down close to the goal line
and CJ is down right at the one yard line.
Good run there by CJP boy. He is inches away
and the clock continues to wind. Now five point fifty
one remaining here in the third quarter, twenty one six
our score and as that point after at tenth by
Smith's station after the touchdown was no good key back
(01:29:33):
in the ball game after missing the last couple of
drives of the first half. He'll be out of the
shotgun formation in. CJ. Pink in the ball game again
at the tailback position from the one yard line, hand
off goes to CJ. He's in the end zone. But
the Bulldog touchdown CJ. Pink there is his first touchdown
of the season. CJ has been coming back rehabbing a
(01:29:54):
knee injury from the off season, and good to see
him getting the end zone.
Speaker 8 (01:29:58):
Ah, that's the wait, I come right back man. Great,
great kickoff return man.
Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
Here is Reese Beasley for the extra point. How frustrating
coach McCracken. Is that for coach Blair Harrison?
Speaker 6 (01:30:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:30:13):
He makes it a fifteen point game, and then you
give up a huge kickoff return.
Speaker 8 (01:30:17):
Right, and he takes seven and a half minutes for
that drive, and we take about fourteen seconds for that.
Speaker 6 (01:30:24):
Run back defense.
Speaker 2 (01:30:25):
Better hydrate, they're coming back out on the field. Good
snap and the extra point kick by Reese Beasley is
up and good scoring drive. Power by OPAL like a
power services hometown people working for you online at ople
likeapower dot com. Good run by Sea Jay Johnson on
the kickoff return to set up his first name pal, CJ.
Pink for the touchdown. Five twenty three left in the third,
(01:30:47):
twenty eight six Bulldogs. We're back after this here on
the kicker.
Speaker 8 (01:30:58):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:30:59):
Joinson on the next blowsive kick off re turn inside
the ten yard line to set up CJ. Pink on
a couple big runs and the Bulldogs tack on another
score to answer the Smith's station score and it's twenty
eight to six. Now with five twenty three left here
in the third quarter, reach Beasley has it teed up.
Bulldogs will kick from right to left. Now the defense
has to find a way to slow down this Smith's
(01:31:20):
Station offence, which has been able to get a lot
of yards but not a lot of points to show
for it finding the end zone one time tonight, short
kick and it's gonna be off sides on Opalaika. They
had a far side of the field way ahead of
that one. Bulldogs trying to get Smith's Station napping on
(01:31:41):
the kickoff return and off sides there. So that'll back
the Bulldogs up five yards and have to rekick. Not
a bad idea, especially what the leg Reese Beasley has.
Even back up five yards, you can still put a
(01:32:02):
pretty good boot into this one.
Speaker 8 (01:32:05):
I'm just old fashioned fan. I want to send and
just kick it back out about.
Speaker 2 (01:32:09):
Down to kick it in ways.
Speaker 6 (01:32:11):
Kick five at in the zone, three in the zone.
Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
Excuse me, now, coach, if they kicked that one and
Smith's Station bibled and we picked it up, you would
have said, now, I would have done that too.
Speaker 6 (01:32:21):
Yeah, Probaso got the old coaching me.
Speaker 2 (01:32:25):
Yeah, all right, back it up five yards and Beasley
has it teed up and we'll kick it again here
five point twenty three left in the third quarter, Smith's
station trails opelaika. Here twenty eight to six, Panthers set
to get the football back, oplaika. It looks like they'll
(01:32:52):
put a regular boot into this one. We'll see Reese
taking his time and total leather.
Speaker 6 (01:32:57):
Boy, that's what that's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
An explosion into that one about five yards deep in
the end zone after moving it back five yards and
Jamie Firks giving him a big applause, and Marshall Meers
the kicking coach, waiting for him to give him a
big fist pump.
Speaker 6 (01:33:16):
Go back to normal living boys, go back to do
what you do best. Twenty eight to six.
Speaker 2 (01:33:24):
Well, if five twenty three left in the ballgame, Smith's
station back with the football, and they're gonna have to
pick the pace up maybe a little bit here to
try to get back in this one.
Speaker 5 (01:33:34):
Van.
Speaker 8 (01:33:35):
I'm gonna tell you now, I really really would like
to see this defense come up big down here, get us.
Speaker 6 (01:33:41):
The ball back.
Speaker 2 (01:33:42):
Well, you'd love a big hit in the fumble here.
Speaker 6 (01:33:44):
Yeah, I mean they've running the edge on us running
that little speech sweep.
Speaker 2 (01:33:51):
So far, no turnovers in the game. That's right on
either side. Been a clean ball game. Thomas undersoner from
his own twenty yard line hand all goes to Key
and he's wrapped up in the backfield, stopped at the
line of scrim as they say. May have squeaked up
and picked a yard up to the twenty one yard line,
but not much there for Trevine Key second out of
(01:34:11):
nine coming up for the Panthers from there on twenty one.
Good stop by Money. Thomas the reverend preaching on Sundays
and tackling on Fridays. That's his game right there, Coach McCracken,
is that what he?
Speaker 6 (01:34:25):
Yes, sir?
Speaker 2 (01:34:26):
What Money is a is a pretty usual speaker at
his congregation another congregations around town.
Speaker 6 (01:34:33):
Oh gosh, I got an answer for that. I'll tell
you after the game.
Speaker 2 (01:34:37):
Four forty four remaining here in the third quarter, clock
is running Thomas under centers. He brings the two wingbacks
now one in motion from right to left. Looks like
they want to set up a throw and it is
tip picked off by the Bulldogs inside the thirty twenty
inside the ten five and tight ropes the sidelines.
Speaker 5 (01:34:55):
Is he in.
Speaker 2 (01:34:57):
Chack Cody Jackson, they'll say he's down at the one. No,
we got one white hat saying touchdown. It is a touchdown,
Jacoty Jackson touchdown Bulldogs. They marked one official marked him
out of the one white hat says touchdown. That was
tipped in the hands of one bulldog right into Jakody
(01:35:20):
Jackson's bread basket and he takes it down the sidelines
for the touchdown. That is just what the Bulldogs needed.
Thirty four to six. Here's a point after a timpt
from Reese Beasley and Wit Cooper will hold and that
is two quick scores to answer that Smith's station. Touchdown
by Opelaika good snap down and the kick is up
(01:35:44):
and the kick is good. Reese Beasley puts up the
extra point thirty five six O Polako with four twenty
five to go in the third quarter, Score and drive
powered by Opelaca Power Services, Hometown people working for you.
Pick six jack Cody Jackson for the bulldogsty five six
and you're listening opul like a Bulldog football. Here on
the kicker Jacobi Jackson with around a forty yard pick
(01:36:14):
six for the Bulldogs and Opulaika tax on another score
here thirty five six with four to twenty five to
go in the third quarter. Smiths station made this a
fifteen point game. But Bulldogs have answer with a big
kickoff return for a score and then a pick six
to stretch the lead out. Now thirty five to six.
Speaker 8 (01:36:33):
Right when you said that about no turnovers? There, what comes, right, coach?
Speaker 5 (01:36:37):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
Don't we don't think I wouldn't know. He went out
of bounds at the five yard line. The return for
the Panthers tried to tight rope the sidelines. Boy a
cardinal sin as it was probably going out. Eli Tatum
picked it up and he stepped on the right at
the five yard line. And he's going to be backed up.
And now this Panther offense will be forced to start
for their own five yard line. And yeah, man might
(01:37:00):
no turnovers and that let's say this defense for the Bulldogs,
that defensive line needs to make mince meat of this
offensive line here for Smith's Station, coach McCracken, Amen, not
even sure what that means, but we'll see what happens here.
Back mccrack and check the box. Okay, all right? Four
(01:37:22):
twenty two left in the third thirty five to six,
our score, Bulldogs leading by twenty nine. Here with four
twenty two to go with the third quarter, let's get
another turnover, coach, can we dial another one up here?
Speaker 6 (01:37:35):
That'd be good.
Speaker 2 (01:37:36):
Panthers backed up on their own five yard line as
Thomas goes under center, quick inside, give good defense there,
only picked up maybe a yard up to the six,
maybe the seven yard line. Two with the most thomass
off for a short game.
Speaker 6 (01:37:52):
Second were down that run game, say.
Speaker 2 (01:37:56):
Yep, second down to eight coming up, so two yard pickup.
Speaker 8 (01:38:04):
You can tell, you can tell the demeanor of their team. Now,
Maliki Grant on the stop for the Bulldogs last time there,
check it in the ball again, getting some reps here,
second down to eight, Panthers showing pass here, Thomas breaks
the tackles, stays on his feet, chunks one way down field,
(01:38:27):
and he's got a man call inside the forty and
he's pushed out of ounds and around the thirty five
yard line. I think one of the Bulldog defenders thought
it was underthrown and kind of stopped.
Speaker 6 (01:38:38):
Now we lost contain over there on that side, but.
Speaker 2 (01:38:41):
It was hauled in a call by trevn reed a
Trevan key and they mark it down to the thirty
seven yard line, twenty six yards and a first down.
Speaker 6 (01:38:58):
Yeah, we gave up. We lost.
Speaker 8 (01:39:00):
Tain't over on that side. Let him throw the ball
down the field. Get your composure back, guys, let's go.
Speaker 2 (01:39:08):
I said. Fifty two yard completion there, first down at
the thirty seven of Opelaika. Hand off right side and
that freshman again breaking some tackles, but a good stop
there by Elijah Odin for the Bulldogs. Good tackle down
at the thirty three yard line, four yard pickup, second
(01:39:30):
down and six coming up here for the Panthers. Two
fifty o'clock a running here in the third quarter. Ople
like a leading thirty five to six here at Panthers Stadium.
Speaker 6 (01:39:42):
The Smith's Station not in any big hurry, are they No,
they're not.
Speaker 2 (01:39:48):
Next week nine Region week for seven A Region two. Opelaika,
we'll have Pike Road coming into town. Smith Station travels
to stan Hope Elmore quick hand off the key, trying
to bounce said far side of the field.
Speaker 5 (01:40:02):
Hold it.
Speaker 2 (01:40:02):
Good pursuit by Opalaika. That was Jamel Griffin on the stop.
Jamel forced him out of bounds at the twenty eight
yard line around five yards on the pick up, it'll
be third down and two coming up for the Panthers.
Here were two seventeen to go. Clock stopped as he
went out of bounds, and the clock starts back running
(01:40:28):
here two eleven, two ten, and we're getting close to
the fourth quarter. Panthers, like coach McCracken just said, they're
in no hurry. Walking up to the line of scrimmage,
Thomas will go under center and now we'll bring one
wing back to the left up on the line of scrimmage,
(01:40:49):
gets the snamp and it's a veer plate quarterback keeper
and he slides down to the twenty five yard line.
And it depends on where he started that slot, but
I think they're going to give him the first down.
First down, Yeah, to the twenty six. Just picked up
two yards. Yeah, it could be tricky when you slide, coach,
(01:41:11):
it's kind of where you start the slide, where you
mark down at. Sometimes you get a little bit more.
But yep, that was close, but didn't get enough for
the first down on the option play there by the
quarterback first and ten at the Bulldog twenty six yard line.
Panthers again bring a man in motion. Quick give there
and a nice spin move by trevine Key as he
(01:41:32):
gets inside the twenty five down to the twenty four
yard line. A couple of yards there before Xavier Thomas
put a pretty big pop on trevine Key. Say he
picked up three yards, so it'll be second down and
seven as they give him the twenty three yard line
under a minute to play here in the third quarter,
(01:41:53):
Opal like a leading thirty five to six opel like
and Smith's station here at Panthers Stadium tonight, Thomas under
center for the Panthers. Here's a pitch play, a sweep
far south of the field. A nice tackle by Elijah Odin. Boy,
that played great play.
Speaker 6 (01:42:12):
I don't think he made a yard on that.
Speaker 8 (01:42:14):
Luke sext and the carrier for Smith's station, that's no
gain on the play.
Speaker 2 (01:42:19):
Third down.
Speaker 6 (01:42:19):
You know they gonna go for the oh is it
third down? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:42:22):
Third and seven, Okay, under twenty I think they'll take
it to the fourth quarter, Coach, they are in no hurry.
Seventeen down to sixteen as a quarterback trits back out
of the field and they will not get another play
off here. They'll take it to the fourth quarter and
try to score in the opposite end zone. Down to four,
(01:42:42):
down to three, and they're in no hurry. And we
head to the fourth quarter with opal like a leading
thirty five to six here at Panthers Stadium. Good and
we'll come back with a fourth and final quarter after
this all bulldogs here at Panthers Stadium. You're listen nople
like a bulldog football here on ninety seven pointy seven
kicker FM. Get ready for the fourth quarter, thirty five
(01:43:08):
six Opolaka with a lead. That's Paul's ten seconds for
Station I Edification.
Speaker 12 (01:43:13):
W KKR, Auburn Opelaika is Lee County's best Country ninety
seven point seven kicker FM, and iheard country station.
Speaker 2 (01:43:23):
Van Riggs, coach Bence McCracken, Mac McCracken, and Jason Lee
with you here on ninety seven point seven kicker NFM.
You're haul for Opoli like a bulldog football to had
you're with us as the Dogs are leading thirty five
to six as we get ready to start the fourth quarter,
Bulldog's trying to keep the Panthers out of the end zone,
trying to get this drive stalled out in to be
a third and seven to start in the fourth quarter.
(01:43:45):
Panthers have been very slow. Here's the football is at
the twenty three yard line of Oplaika Man.
Speaker 6 (01:43:54):
That kickoff return turned everything around. It sure to the
whole game.
Speaker 2 (01:44:00):
We saw that happen several years ago up Prattbar, remember
that when that kickoff kind of changed the whole season. Yeah,
Thomas under center, They'll bring a man in motion. It's
going to be a pass play. Thomas drops back and
it is hauled in and called, boy, what a grab
by trevaon Key as he snags it at around the
fifteen yard line, and that will be enough for a
(01:44:22):
Panther first down. That was a really well thrown ball
there by Cohen. Thomas. I didn't think he had any
chance of getting Key the football, and Key laid out
for it and made the snag down to the fifteen
yard line for an eight yard pickup in a first down.
Thirty five six. We're just underway here in the fourth quarters,
(01:44:42):
Panthers trying to get down and get a score, say,
trailed thirty five to six. Thomas quick hand off to
sext and he's wrapped up. Schwartzs hiccup two maybe three yards.
Good job by the defense of Opelika. There just a
(01:45:05):
two yard pickup down to the thirteen yard line. Carson Riddle,
Money Thomas, Tremaine Thomas in the ballgame for the Bulldogs
(01:45:26):
up front along with Terres Thomas at the thirteen yard
line of Opalaika and hand I'm trying to get outside
is the trouble and he's wrapped up by Norman Matthews
for a big loss back around the twenty yard line.
I mean, that's going to be a loss that close
to seven yards. Great, that's the kind of negative play
(01:45:48):
the Bulldogs have been searching for, and that really puts
smithsation in am buying. Now with a negative play here,
it'll be third and long coming up for the Panthers.
See what coach Harrison decides to dial up here on
third and long around third and seventeen coming up here
(01:46:12):
for the Panthers. And I believe he may take a
time out here fall Well, he's waiting on the play clock.
It hadn't even started yet. Opeli Like offense has only
had two plays this entire second half.
Speaker 6 (01:46:30):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 2 (01:46:31):
How they scored time out taken by coach Harrison with
nine forty six to play here in this fourth quarter
and ball game here thirty five six are scoring nine
forty six to play. We're back after this year. Let's
dope like a bulldog football here on the kicker. Well,
(01:46:55):
let's get down on the field. Get a four seasons
Federal Credit Union sideline report. Matt McCracken. What you got
down on the.
Speaker 6 (01:47:00):
Thanks man, Yeah, I was just the hold on.
Speaker 10 (01:47:02):
You can tell these these dogs do not want to
give up this touchdown or any points and go in
the coaching staff. They're really good up on there, and
they're just trying to think of you know, passes coming
here within these two of them just just trying to
lose their eyes. So yeah, they're trying to just get
that you know, get that goose egg right here. As
far as this, uh, this quarter, we got to get
pressure on this quarterback back and I let.
Speaker 2 (01:47:23):
Him get outside of contained third down and seventeen quarterback
out of the shotgun. He'll throw towards the end zone
and it is incomplete in between two defenders trying to
get it to Jervin Key, Italy. Fourth down and looks
like coaches going to send in the field goal team
here try to get some points and get some positives
on the board here.
Speaker 6 (01:47:46):
Well, it's gonna be a pretty long one. Yeah, we'll
forty forty three.
Speaker 2 (01:47:49):
Ethan Monka is the kicker for the Panthers. Line of
scrimmage is thirty thirty thirty seven. Yeah, right at the
twenty yard line here, Yeah, thirty seven yard are from
the left. Hash watch Xavier Thomas, coach, He's blocked two
of these things already. See if he can get a
hold of one here, high snap and it is blocked. Yes, sir,
(01:48:11):
he got a piece of it. Xavier Thomas got in
there and got a piece of it, and it is
no good and you don't kick on twenty six, No, sir,
Xavier Thomas does his job, gets a piece of it.
Didn't completely block it, but he certainly affected the trajectory
of that one.
Speaker 6 (01:48:28):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:48:29):
And it went low and wide to the left.
Speaker 6 (01:48:31):
You don't kick on twenty six, no, sir.
Speaker 5 (01:48:34):
I like that.
Speaker 6 (01:48:35):
I'm gonna get somebody that don't like it to make
a sign.
Speaker 2 (01:48:38):
Well, I think I know a T shirt maker Rainer
Meadows and Victory Designs. We may him get a T
shirt for that one.
Speaker 5 (01:48:44):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:48:45):
Yeah, Max, what do you think we getting on we
get Xavier Thomas T shirt.
Speaker 6 (01:48:50):
Yeah, don't get your kicks on twenty six. There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
That's it right there, mag perfect Bulldogs out of the shotgun.
Kobe Key back in the ball game. Man, he pulls
it and he wants to run it. He gets the
far side of the field and he gets out of
bounds at around the thirty five yard line, and that'll
be enough for a first down. So a good pickup
(01:49:14):
of fifteen yards on the quarterback run there by Key.
You don't see him run it very much, but it
got around fifteen yards line of scrimmage the thirty five
yard line for the Bulldogs first and ten and the
snap hand off, this is Jalen Nelson. Nelson picks up
(01:49:37):
around four yards to the thirty four yard line. Big
pile up there on that one nine sixteen o clock
continues to run Jalen Nelson, big back back there and
he runs a lot bigger than his size, that's for sure.
(01:50:02):
He lines up to the right of Colby Key here
on a second down in seven play coming up for
the Bulldogs, two white outs to the right side play action,
Key throws under through his intended receiver Andre Van Went
sliding down Ford it around the forty five yard line
and pass had what he wanted there, just an underthrown ball.
(01:50:26):
Eight forty seven o'clock is stopped.
Speaker 6 (01:50:31):
CJ.
Speaker 2 (01:50:31):
Pink will check in the ball game. Now looks like
probably gonna get some breathers to the big backs. Jordan, wait,
c J. Johnson, your starters, and CJ. Pink will check
at the ball game. Third down and seven after that
incomplete pass.
Speaker 6 (01:50:46):
See if we can get this first down right here.
Speaker 2 (01:50:48):
Van, Now, I think Opelika maybe taking a time out. No,
it'll be smithstation that will take a time out. With
eight forty seven to play here in the ballgame, thirty
five six, Opelaka with the lead, and we're back after
this out. You're listening to Bulldog football here on the
kicker back here to Panther Stadium. Bulldogs facing a third
(01:51:15):
down and seven. Quarterback kolbe Key will work out of
the shotgun. Bulldog's trying to get a first down here.
To keep this drive going, Key drives backs gotten pressured.
I'm gonna roll here near shy boy. He had one
receiver open and he's gonna scramble towards the first down
marker at around the forty three yard line. He didn't
see cam Railey had him open across the middle of
(01:51:37):
the field, and Bulldog is gonna bring in a heavy
set package, going to go for it here on a
fourth and looks like two. So Kobe scrambles around and
gets close to the first down marker. He needs two yards, yeah,
from the forty four yard line. He'll need to get
(01:51:58):
across the forty five up to around the forty s
for the first down. CJ. Pink the tailback. This is
gonna be a tough fourth down conversion here, fourth and two.
Keying in on the run. They're gonna throw here near
side Andres caught it. And that was a good throw
by Key as he hooks up with andre Van at
midfield down to the forty nine yard line, and then
(01:52:21):
it picks up eight yards and a first down. So
much better throw there and a good catch by andre
Van breaking the tackle picking up a few yards after
the catch. Eight twenty to go here in the ball game,
thirty five six open like a with the lead Key
out of the shot gun tail back to the right.
(01:52:44):
Is CJ Pink play action again. They'll throw here near side.
Andre Van has it at the first down marker at
the thirty nine yard line for the first down, ten
yards and a Lambert transfer in storage first down. Good
to see Coleby get some rhythm now after a couple
of complete passes.
Speaker 6 (01:53:03):
Hope well thrown balls both of those, yep.
Speaker 2 (01:53:09):
Maybe setting something up. Couple coach to the outside. Maybe
a pump and go coming here. Let's see Colby play action.
Throws to Vans, got it at the forty yard line.
Nice move. He's got some moves, Yeah, he certainly does.
Actually that was a keeling Banks on the reception there
for the Bulldogs. My apologies, mister Banks. Down to the
(01:53:32):
thirty five yard line. That picks up four yards second
down and six for the Bulldogs at the Smith station.
Thirty five seven twenty two clock continues to run key
out of the shotgun. Hard count and they got Smith's station.
That's going to be an off sides against the Panthers
and that will be a five yard penalty moving it
down to the thirty yard line. That'll set up a
(01:53:55):
second down and three thirty five six our score. And
a big shout out to coach Kenny Prescott. He had
apt under the water and Coach Prescott glad to hear
you're doing well and hopefully listening tonight and love you, Kenny.
We kept it maybe a little easier for you tonight.
(01:54:16):
Here's a throw here near side. It is Calt This
is Andre Van and he's forced out of bounds at
the twenty three yard line. That is enough for a
Lambert transferring storage first down, picks up seven yards and
that'll move the change six fifty two. Remaining here in
the ballgame, Clark continues to run here thirty five six
Opalaika with the lead white out on either side. Tail
(01:54:40):
back is CJ.
Speaker 5 (01:54:41):
Pink.
Speaker 2 (01:54:46):
Keith gets the snaw. There's some movement by the offensive
line to be a false start now that will back
the Bulldogs back five yards. One of those pulling tackles
or guards got a head start there for by Opalaiko,
so that'll back up over like a five yards back
(01:55:09):
to the twenty eight yard line. Still remains first down,
so first in fifteen for the Bulldogs. Six seventeen. The
clock continues to run here in the fourth quarter, Key
out of the shotgun gives the ball to Pink Pink
inside the twenty five and Pink down to the twenty
yard line. Good run of eight yards thereby CJ. Pink.
Speaker 6 (01:55:30):
He's got good explosion, man.
Speaker 8 (01:55:32):
Yeah, really good to see him too.
Speaker 2 (01:55:34):
We talked to him this week and yeah, he's coming
off of a knee injury in those could be tough
to come back from. But he's redding a really good job.
Speaker 6 (01:55:42):
He's gonna get Not a real big guy, is it, Joe,
He's not.
Speaker 2 (01:55:50):
Tristan Glaze checks of the ball game now for Opalaika.
But there's gonna be another tonally on the Bulldogs. Looks
like one of those tackles for the Bulldog's got an
early jump. Jalen Nelson checks the ball game. That was
(01:56:18):
actually Caleb Smith who was in the ballgame. Now Nelson
checks back in I formation. Koby Key will give it
to Nelson. Twenty five broke a tackle down close to
the twenty two yard line.
Speaker 8 (01:56:33):
Good run there by Jalen Nelson. And now some pushing
and shoving there at the end of the play.
Speaker 6 (01:56:44):
Yep, little extracurricular down.
Speaker 2 (01:56:47):
There around five yards there by Jalen Nelson. It'll set
up a third and ten coming up for the Bulldogs.
It's a rope a like it decides to go here
on this one with four fifty three to play thirty
five to six. Well in control. Oh, here the ball game, Nelson,
the tail back to the left of Colby Key. It'll
be a third and ten and a timeout called by
(01:57:10):
Smith station. So they want to think this one over here,
four forty two to go in a third and ten
coming up for the Bulldogs at the Smith station twenty
three yard line. We'll take a time out, time out
on the field here your listen. Nope, like a Bulldog
football here on the kicker out of the timeout for
(01:57:34):
forty two to play here in the ballgame. Up like
a leading thirty five to six over the Smith's station. Panthers,
Dogs though, trying to keep the drive going. Here it's
a third down and ten at the twenty three if
Smith's station, Colby Key will be the quarterback, and again
the Bulldogs will bring in Caleb Smith, junior running back
(01:57:56):
five eight, one hundred and forty five pounder. Check it
in the ballgame at the twenty three of Smith's station.
Key out of the shotgun. On third down play action,
Key steps up in the pocket backside pressure, gonna tuck
it and run it inside the fifteen and slips down
to the ten down around the nine yard line. That'll
(01:58:17):
be enough for a Lambert transfer in storage first down.
They'll mark him down at the nine yards, so Keith
scrambles and picks up fourteen yards at a first down.
Could fourteen yards scramble for the Lambert transfer in storage
(01:58:37):
first down and Caleb Smith again stays in the ballgame
as the tailback here for the Bulldogs. Jordan Waits is
the full back and they'll give it to Smith and
he has picked up body slam. That should be a penalty,
but no flag. Smith was picked up and souplexed on
(01:59:02):
that one.
Speaker 6 (01:59:03):
He did win him wrestling moves on him.
Speaker 2 (01:59:05):
I thought that was a penalty. I didn't think you
could slam anybody down. But it rolls and goes thirty
three thirty seven clock. Continuing to run, Smith stays the
tail back to the left of Kolbe key Man with
a seven yard line of Smith's station play action, Kobe
(01:59:28):
Keyth pulls it at the five. Nice cut. He's in
the end zone with a Bulldog touchdown. Colby key from
seven yards out for the Bulldog touchdown and Opelaika adds
to their lead forty one up to six with a
point after attempt coming here from Rhese Beasley. Koby a
(01:59:51):
shifty runner there. You could tell he was surveying the field,
making the most of the ground there, and he did
a nice cut at the five and he went on
touched into the end zone. Here's wit Cooper to hold
and the extra point is up and it is good
(02:00:13):
and it's forty two to six, and they keep the
clock running here. They never stopped it.
Speaker 8 (02:00:21):
This station.
Speaker 4 (02:00:22):
Six.
Speaker 2 (02:00:24):
Forty two to six should be the score. And they
gave Opal like an extra point, but after the extra point,
they gave Opal like a seven on the touchdown, then
a point on the extra point. But it is forty
two to six, two thirteen. The clock continues to run
and you're listening open like a bulldog football. We're back
after this. Here on the kickerrow, the clock continues to whine.
(02:00:53):
It is not stopped. In just a minute twenty nine left?
Is Reese actually cloud Keyo kicks that one down at
the five yard line. But I believe we're gonna get
a off sides against the kicking team.
Speaker 8 (02:01:05):
Here looks like a penalty will go against Opalaika and
back them up five yards.
Speaker 2 (02:01:08):
They have stopped the clock. Now with one twenty five
left forty two six Opelaika with the lead over Smith's
Station is one twenty five left for might of next week, Bulldog,
we'll return home for a nine reging game against the
Pike Road Patriots, a really good test with a really
good six A program coming in, one that's going to
be inside the top five, probably after their big win
(02:01:28):
over Percy Julian last night. They blew out the Percy's
forty two nothing I think, coach, and they'll be coming
in with a. They're ranked ahead of Benjamin russelling six A.
So I'll tell you it's a gonna be a big
test next week for Opelike at home. Need a big
crowd for that one end over end kick sales at
(02:01:49):
the five yard line will be returnable for the Panthers
across the fifteen to twenty twenty five and had brought
down shy of the thirty yard line was Eli Tatum
for the Panthers. And we're under a minute. I'll know
if Smith Station will get a run of play here.
They will continue to run this clock and they are
ready to get ready for Stan Hope Elmore. The Panthers
are yep Opalaikah fans on their feet getting ready to
(02:02:12):
pick up the chair backs and make the happy drive
west on two to eighty towards Opalaika. Short trip over here,
not a bad road trip at all, and very impressed
still with coach Blair Harrison. You know overall he's one
twenty nine and eighty four and at Brookstone he had
a one oh four to fifty five record, private school
over in Georgia, and he knows how to win. And
(02:02:36):
his team made it close there right at the start
of the second half, and Coach it was Opelikah with
some explosive plays.
Speaker 6 (02:02:46):
A kickoff return, I'm telling you that was the.
Speaker 2 (02:02:48):
Game changer there, no doubt about it. And a pick
six really turned things around, a big kickoff returning to
pick six, and after that Opelika had just rolled and
stretched the lead and Smith's station had no answer. Two
to six. The final score hits Zeros here at Panther
Stadium and coach Harrison and coach Brian Moore meet at midfield, handshakes,
(02:03:09):
good relationship with them as coach Moore has just gotten
to know him, but really impressed with him and he's
gonna do some good things. It's a young team too,
it's Smiths Station. Coach you mentioned on twelve seniors. They
stayed with this offense, they could turn into a doth
in here in this region and give some folks some
really some fits. Forty two to six though the final score.
We'll be back after this the postgame shows on the
way and we'll visit with coach Brian Moore after this.
(02:03:31):
Here on the kicker, welcome back here to Panthers Stadium.
I Van Riggs alongside Coach Spence mccrack.
Speaker 6 (02:03:51):
Check one.
Speaker 2 (02:03:51):
There we go, Now we're back, There we go, had
a malfunction. There we are back and again the final
score here Plaka winning forty two to six over the
Smith's Station Panther is a good win here tonight as
Opelika will regroup and get ready for a good Pike
Ro team coming in next week to Bulldog Stadium, and
then it's back to region game, another home game for
the Bulldogs. Good two game stretch here home against Pike
(02:04:13):
Road and then the following week against Otham. Before the
Opelaka Bulldogs, we'll go on the road for two toughies
at Enterprise at Central and then finish the season at
home against Carver Montgomery. But in really good position here.
It's a great schedule this year, just four road game,
six home games. Couldn't couldn't put that one together any
better as a Jag of course, made the trip back
to back years to Opalaikah, Mac your final thoughts there
(02:04:34):
on the field before you visit with coach More.
Speaker 10 (02:04:37):
Yeah, first of all, that's a w It's a region
game right there, So that's very good. Hey, And you know,
hats off to the defense. Is you know, growing up
with that wing t offense is very diversive. It's hard
to defend. And you know, I want to give up
six right there out of a whole football game. Is
pretty impressive. Offensively, we made bigger plays you know, this
(02:04:58):
game than we have you know during this season. And
then our special teams came up big and let me
sit if I can grab coach here in a minute, Yeah,
I think he's gonna be heading to him.
Speaker 2 (02:05:06):
Let me say it, all right, you go ahead and
grab coach And yeah, I think so too. And you know,
Smith's station made it tight there. You know, it got
to be a twenty one to six ball game early
in the start of the second half, and then two
big explosive plays, the big kickoff return by c J.
Johnson and then a heck of an interception by Opelika
Max down there at the field right now with coach
Brian Moore, Mack, take.
Speaker 10 (02:05:25):
It away, thanks a lot, coach, more, congratulations on the victory.
Speaker 6 (02:05:28):
Big region win.
Speaker 10 (02:05:30):
And you know, we come out in the second half,
and I know you addressed him, Hey, let's get faster.
Speaker 6 (02:05:33):
We got to stop first down.
Speaker 10 (02:05:35):
You know, that's a horrid offensive stop wing t very diversive,
you know, misdirection.
Speaker 6 (02:05:41):
Hey, you only gave up six. But what I think
was a big, big play.
Speaker 10 (02:05:45):
Me and Dad and Van talked about you know, you
get the kick return by CJ.
Speaker 6 (02:05:50):
Special teams turns around.
Speaker 10 (02:05:51):
Then you get the pick sick by Jackson, and I
think that just turned the whole ball game around.
Speaker 6 (02:05:56):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (02:05:56):
You know, it was tough in the second half because
we only had I don't know.
Speaker 6 (02:06:00):
Like two plays forever.
Speaker 4 (02:06:02):
You know, midway through the fourth quarter, we'd only run
two offensive snaps because we had scored so quickly off
the kickoff return and then obviously the pick six. As
good as CG. Cody do that that was a big
play for him. I thought we tackled better in the
second half, but still not great. We're gonna have to
fit those things better. First down does matter. It's got
to be second to eight, not second three, that matters completely.
Speaker 6 (02:06:20):
But we got to do a better job.
Speaker 2 (02:06:22):
There on first down.
Speaker 4 (02:06:23):
So but again, you know, it's good to see us,
you know, play a team like that, very differently, not
played anyone like that this year, and so we'll learn
from that stuff.
Speaker 10 (02:06:31):
All right, Coach, before I get you up in Pompinson Van,
I know, you know, as a coach, you're so locked
in and you know you hardly ever pay attention to
what's car on. Did you ever turn around to look
at your opalaka and with the what they brought tonight?
Speaker 4 (02:06:42):
Man, you know, I can't describe the community support this
year to people that hadn't seen it from Ben Russell
to come into Auburn, you know, to to go in
too Callaway and really having more people than them at
Callaway and then to see us pack out this stadium
in a night where people would think we win big,
you know, and and kind of take the night off.
I just it's so it's such a you know, it's
so great to be in this community. And I appreciate him.
(02:07:03):
Our kids feel him there. They appreciate the sport. Look, parents,
they may not tell you, but they they're they're thankful
you're here. And and uh, we're just thankful to have
a community sports our team like this.
Speaker 2 (02:07:13):
Let me get you upstairs, all right, Coach Brian Moore
getting the headsets on. Coach, congratulations on the wind. Talk
about your quarterbacks. I know Kobe came back tonight, little
rust early, but he finished up really good. But in
the middle there you had Witt Cooper came in and well,
he had a couple of good.
Speaker 4 (02:07:28):
Passes, continues to Wit really continues to do a great job,
and uh, you know, I'm proud of the way that
he's come in and played freely. You know, I think
all those things that you're seeing, those touchdowns are RPOs,
you know, and he's making the decision as a tenth
grader to throw those balls down the field and uh,
he's putting them on the money.
Speaker 6 (02:07:47):
He's so really proud of that, you know. And obviously
it was really good to see Kobe back.
Speaker 4 (02:07:51):
You know, you could tell he wasn't himself quite yet
as far as his his strength and just uh, you know,
he was fatigued early with a couple of the runs,
but I thought he settled in a second half, really
played well too.
Speaker 2 (02:08:02):
Yeah, and it's got to be big to have with
playing the way he is because you've got two options there.
You know, you're a big hit away from you know,
and who knows who's playing right.
Speaker 4 (02:08:10):
Absolutely, I mean we built Debth and then Fuller too,
you know, Fuller, you know, we'd hope we'd get him
in this game today as well, you know, because really
there's not a huge difference between Fuller and Wed. I
mean those guys have been up and down. It's really
based on their week of practice who gets to go.
So again, we feel good about that room. Like I said,
good to have Colby back. You know, I thought we
were more effective running the football, especially at times early
(02:08:32):
in the ball game. So again good to see. You know,
it could be frustrating the limited snaps we're probably didn't
get very many, so again we'll have to go and
look and and hopefully continue to clean things up next week.
Speaker 5 (02:08:44):
C J.
Speaker 2 (02:08:44):
Pink gets his first touchdown of the season. It's been
a journey for him, hadn't it.
Speaker 6 (02:08:48):
Yeah, it has.
Speaker 4 (02:08:48):
I mean, yeah, I'm really proud of CJ. And you know,
he's had the injuries, and you know, just what a
what a story of resilience, you know, with the amount
of injuries that CJ's sustained over the years, and for
a young person to go through rehab again, you know,
he goes to spring ball and you know, and messes
up as mcl again and.
Speaker 1 (02:09:05):
You know, goes through the rehab, the grueling rehab.
Speaker 4 (02:09:07):
And comes back and you know, actually, Van he scored
once last week and then got his second this week.
So really excited for CJ. Those guys were at our
luncheon yesterday. Coach Landers does a great job with them
and ended up, you know, really trying to even reward
Caleb Smith there at the end and trying to get
him in the end zone when Kobe pulled that ball.
Speaker 6 (02:09:25):
So you know, great, great room.
Speaker 4 (02:09:27):
Really proud of them and thankful they're healthy right now.
Speaker 8 (02:09:30):
Bryan More, Yes, sir, I want to tell you something, Son,
You keep preaching big plays to these kids.
Speaker 6 (02:09:37):
Cause big plays.
Speaker 8 (02:09:39):
You had thirteen of them last week to three for
your opponent tonight. You had in the second half, you
didn't have many, but the two that you had drained
them kick off returning the pick.
Speaker 6 (02:09:54):
Hey, just keep getting big plays.
Speaker 8 (02:09:57):
These A lot of these high school kids don't know
how to unless they're real well coached, and y'all are
real well coach, God bless you.
Speaker 6 (02:10:04):
Man, coach. I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (02:10:06):
Yeah, those were huge plays, you know, I thought we
made some big ones. Good to see a little double
pass too early in the game right there to I
think it was Jay wash de Andre so uh, good
to see hey he got called back. But uh, you know,
those are things we're putting on film, like you're saying, coach,
and people are having.
Speaker 2 (02:10:20):
Their rop I think we got you there, there, here,
we are.
Speaker 6 (02:10:22):
We're back man.
Speaker 8 (02:10:25):
Hey, coach, we'll end on that one. Congratulations there. You
know we got the power going.
Speaker 2 (02:10:29):
Out on us up here?
Speaker 4 (02:10:30):
Is that like one of those deals where they start
the music when you've talked too long?
Speaker 2 (02:10:33):
You know, hey, if you want an Emmy, coach, congratulations
and there's the wrap up music. We'll see you, Nick
Han done. Hey, But I tell you what, Pike Road
win on this. That's gonna be a challenge next week.
Good football team coming in. We need a big crowd
for that one.
Speaker 6 (02:10:45):
Absolutely. Yeah. I mean this is a loaded box.
Speaker 4 (02:10:47):
I mean, when you know you're talking about their two
defensive ends, their interior people, and their linebackers. You're talking
about multiple power four kids there, so it'll be a
challenge about to play better for sure.
Speaker 2 (02:10:56):
All Right, thanks so much, coach, appreciate the visit. Thanks man,
Coach Brian Moore there. Post game again. Our final score
here tonight the Smith Station Panthers followed Opalika Bulldogs went
at forty two to six. We'll wrap things up after
this time out. You're listening to Bulldog football here on
