It happens to all of us! You're ready to wind down and you grab your phone and start scrolling only to realize it's been an hour!

Sisanie shared on-air some people are turning to the “One Sec” app to help prevent them from doom-scrolling. It forces a quick pause before opening addictive apps like Instagram and TikTok. Literally just a few seconds to breathe, so you don’t fall straight into the scroll.

It breaks that reflex of opening your phone without thinking because half the time, after the pause, you apparently didn’t even want to open Instagram anymore.

The app also shows you how many times you’ve stopped yourself and how much screen time you’ve saved, which can be motivating.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Doom scrolling. There's an app to help you stop doom scrolling. Now.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Technically, doom scrolling.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Is when you just go down the whole like and
you just never come back, and it can be an hour.

Speaker 4 (00:13):
Maybe even more.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
For some people of just scrolling and scrolling and scrolling
on TikTok Instagram.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
It's amazing how we just get sucked into it.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
You get sucked into your own algorithm, whether it's dog
videos or thrift halls, get ready with me, like all
that stuff, and you just for me. It's like DIY
house stuff. Yeah, and so you just get stuck into it.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
So there's an app to help you stop now.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
It's called the one sec App.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
I haven't tried this app, and I'm more I read
about it, I'm like, man, maybe I should. You do
have to pay for it, I think it's like twenty
bucks for the year, so it's not completely like that expensive,
but it forces you to take a quick pause before
opening up those addictive apps. So literally it's just a
few seconds, and it tells you to breathe so you
don't fall straight into the scroll. Because I feel like

(01:00):
for some of us, you pick up your phone to
text a friend back or to just see your text messages,
and then you went into something, Yeah, you get into
your doom scrolling and you don't even mean to do that.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
All you want to do is just text somebody back.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
So it breaks that reflex of opening up your phone
without thinking.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Half the time after the pause.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
You apparently didn't even want to open Instagram anymore at all.
Plus it shows you how many times you've stopped yourself
and how much screen time that you've saved, which can
be a little motivating.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
So that's the one sec app.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
All right, the one sec sec app.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
If you want to check it out, you are on
air with Ryan Seacrest.
