Speaker 1 (00:00):
When you want more road runners, We've got more road runners.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
This is the Tucson Roadrunners Insider Podcast. We are here, Kim, Hi,
I'm good.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
How are you.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
It's fan fest. The fans are here, people are skating.
Dusty's out there as well. There's Dusty right right in
the middle. Dusty's out there skating with the fans. Lane Moore,
Will Gavin are here as well. Have them on the
show and just momentary or in just a moment, but yeah,
it's fan Fest, Kim. Preseason starts this week, Training camp
starts this weekend. Hockey's right around the corner. It's been
(00:37):
a long summer, long summer. It's been a very long summer.
Lay Moore and Will Gavin next up on the show
in this FanFest special. And now for our two very
special guests, Lighton Moore and Will Gavin here with us
at FanFest for this week's special insider podcast. Kim, I'll
let you ask the first question this time late last time.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
You talk to you talked to Johnny and Adrian and
Geng and you talked about golf, like circling back to golf,
and you introduced a golf handicap to these guys. And
that was amazing. I think you said your handicap at
the time was a time had you golfed enough over
the summer?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
But exactly, yeah, is it still?
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Are we still at a time it's gonna be working
on it?
Speaker 5 (01:22):
Just okay, my last couple of rounds worth the greatest.
But before is it was not bad?
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Okay, I'm just curious. I just want to keep up
to date with with everything. What is your what do
the boys call you? What's your hockey nickname?
Speaker 6 (01:37):
I mainly go by my last name more.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Yes, okay, well what's yours? Gas?
Speaker 7 (01:47):
I just always been Gas.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Yeah, you like come up with something like, hey, yeah,
my names will Gavin, but everybody calls me Blue Thunder.
Speaker 8 (01:54):
I wish I got nothing cool like that. It's Gas
since day one, so maybe here, maybe I get a
new one.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
In the academy, did they give you any sort of
like call sign name.
Speaker 8 (02:04):
No, No, I think that's just just in the movies. Yeah,
I didn't get anything yet.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
So actually, some of the guys called me like morse
co code. It's it's a stupid thing. But a couple
of guys just called me that. I think your name longer.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Exactly, it's about path of least resistance with.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
Yeah, that just came out of nowhere, out of left fields,
and that just stuck with me.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
I like morse code, Yeah, I like that.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
For will for you? I mean again, you guys have
had the similar paths and Lane, you got your taste
of a professional hockey last season, even when which a
tattoo and then coming to the ahel But will for you,
you know, you got to practice with the team last year,
coming on the PTO and train with them a bit
and travel with the team as well. But what are
you looking forward to for your first professional season in hockey?
Speaker 7 (02:51):
Yeah, I'm super excited.
Speaker 8 (02:54):
Yeah, obviously got a little taste that, like you were
saying last year, but now I'm excited to finally play
some games and just get a quick it with this level. Obviously,
being an NHL training camp I think helped a lot.
Like late and said, I just kind of see the
pace and what guys do at that level. So I
think I have a pretty good understanding of what it takes.
And now I'm just excited to get some games under
my belt and hopefully contribute to the team.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah, and overall, how are both of your summers I
guess we should have started off with that question. Of course, Lane,
we did talk to you in the middle of the summer,
but and we talked to Will too during the rookie camp.
But yeah, overall, how are your summers? And you know,
what's it like to just be back here?
Speaker 7 (03:30):
It was good.
Speaker 5 (03:30):
Uh, it was good seeing the family for a couple
of months. But at the same time, too long being
away from hockey. I would yeah, but yeah, no, it's
the same thing that every guy does. I think you
work out Monday to Friday or skate a couple of
times a week, but no, I like trying to do
different things as well. My whole family went up to Cammore, Alberta,
just just like a nice thing to do that we
(03:51):
always did. We used to hike, bike, all that type
of stuff, and just good seeing family out there as well.
Speaker 6 (03:57):
So it was nice.
Speaker 8 (03:59):
Yeah, I mean kind of going late and again here
just this home for a few months. Typical hockey guy
in the summer working out and skating. And I love
the golf as well, so I was trying to trying
to get that handicapped down as well.
Speaker 7 (04:11):
Nothing too special for me, you just hanging with family
many more.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Questions you have. Of course, I always have to make
sure I always have to double check.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
And they're really hard hitting too, So I hope you
guys are ready for this because it's like BBC level questions. Okay,
if like like you were making a case in court
for yourself about why your position is the hardest one
out on the ice, because I'm assuming we haven't done
this with the defenseman and a forward before. It's they've
(04:40):
always been both forwards. Okay, so who's got the toughest
job out there.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
That's actually hard?
Speaker 4 (04:49):
I told you BBC and PR level questions.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah, yeah, I guess that's how we do it now.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
Because for defenseman, would you count the goalie as one
of us as well?
Speaker 6 (04:58):
Or just defense? And then forwards? Okay, yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 8 (05:03):
I'll say defense just because like being a forward, I know,
like we're trying to four check so hard and just
kill the D on the four check. So I uh,
I think I feel for the d there because I
guess I know somewhat would have feels like they're trying
to go back to the pocket. I'm trying to go
you know, hit them full full speed. So I think
defense probably harder okay.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
I would I would say defense too. But at the
same time, you got to look at the forwards perspective.
If the defense are doing their job and they're just
moving the puck up whatever, the forwards have to produce,
they have to score goals and that's how you win
the game, right, So if they don't score goals and
the defense just holds back like, there's not much to it, honestly,
So I would say it's a fifty to fifty job
(05:46):
for everyone, honestly, for the ice.
Speaker 6 (05:47):
But if I had to pick, i'd pick defense.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Okay, So nobody's picking goalie.
Speaker 6 (05:53):
No, no, no, we all feel bad.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
I didn't say feel bad just because they because they
sometimes compare the brunt of the winds and the losses.
Oh yeah, and they're in their heads a lot. So okay, wait, I.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
Have keep going, this is awesome.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
Okay, So fifty of men think that in an emergency
situation they could land a commercial aircraft. What do you think?
Speaker 7 (06:18):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
I appreciate that that honestly, because I have met, we
have interviewed people that have said yes on this team,
and it's.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
I remember I said I couldn't when you first asked
me that question too right, I said it was going down. Sorry.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
If you can do that, then jeez, good on you.
I would have no idea.
Speaker 6 (06:40):
I'd hopefully find autopilot.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Go with the autopilot.
Speaker 4 (06:44):
That's it, Okay, guys, tell me the nerdiest thing about you.
Speaker 7 (06:50):
Well, that's tough. I play guitar. I don't know if
that's super nerdy.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Oh that's cool, it's not nerdy.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
I don't know. You got it like you do clussword
puzzles or do you reader? Either of you readers.
Speaker 7 (07:07):
Big pot like podcast I don't know if that's okay.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Wait, what podcasts are you listening to right now?
Speaker 7 (07:12):
I listened.
Speaker 8 (07:12):
I don't know, mainly just like hockey on honestly, a
little bit like politics here and there, and they just
get up to date.
Speaker 7 (07:19):
Because I don't really like watching the news. I'll just
listen to podcasts while I drive.
Speaker 6 (07:22):
But do you like Joe Rogan?
Speaker 2 (07:24):
I do like Joe good I listened to PMT now.
I just part of my take. I just started listening
to them. I like their I like that they released
podcasts after every Sunday night. Part of my take, it's
like a barstool sports podcast. Yeah, they do they do
what Adrian and I do after a game when we're
up late doing the podcast. They do the same thing
Sunday night after all the football games. They literally recap
(07:47):
them all.
Speaker 9 (07:48):
I know.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
So well, if you're a podcast guy, how does it
feel to be a guest?
Speaker 6 (07:51):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (07:52):
On our podcast? Now? I know Adrian got you earlier
this offseason. Now we got you here for fan Fest?
How does it feel to be the guest? Now?
Speaker 8 (07:59):
It's stressful, stressful, you're under the gun, so now it's
it's fun, But I definitely it's it's tough, especially like
the Joe Rogan podcast.
Speaker 7 (08:07):
Like, I don't know how they do it for three hours.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
No, I can't imagine having to do this show three
hours at a time. But we try to keep it
between forty minutes and an hours as best we can.
But yeah, it's good. You got anything else, Kim? You
know you got a lot yet?
Speaker 4 (08:24):
How much time do we have that?
Speaker 7 (08:25):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (08:25):
We're good on time. I mean I asked my boring questions,
my boring pr questions.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Your's like the legit questions. Okay, all right, So favorite
song that you don't want to hear it? Warm ups?
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Oh that's a good one too.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
Yeah, so we'll try and play it depending.
Speaker 7 (08:41):
But just like during warm ups, you're like coming out
for the game.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Well do you guys listen to the music.
Speaker 6 (08:48):
And like, sometimes I gotta look at this.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
I have no idea really like your hype song. You're
one like they're both playing out their phone.
Speaker 6 (08:56):
I kind of like everything.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
There you go. Yeah, Usually when someone asked me, like, hey,
what's their favorite song? Ever, I'm like, I gotta pull
this up. I can't say it off the top of
my head really, But then it sucks because now I'm
looking at a bunch of songs that I love and
I can't make that decision in the moment.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
So I like, I like everything. I'm a country guy.
I'm a big country guy. Actually. I like Edie Am,
I like rap. I like everything.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
But if I had like a good song in my head,
i'd probably pick Purple Rain by don Don Tolliver.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
That's a good one. Yeah, that's not it's not too shabby.
Speaker 5 (09:27):
It's it gets me in the groove, you know, Like
I like the sing in my head and stuff like
that bought my head.
Speaker 6 (09:31):
So that would be fine.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Okay, well you got I don't know.
Speaker 8 (09:36):
I don't really have like if it's just during warm up,
it's like, I don't know, maybe like just something Drake.
Speaker 7 (09:41):
I feel like Drake kind.
Speaker 8 (09:42):
Of gets like the fans going, and I don't know,
I like Drake out there and then I.
Speaker 7 (09:46):
Used to get too pumped, So.
Speaker 8 (09:51):
I don't know, honestly, everything any any Drake like top hits,
I guess like we'll do for me.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
So same with a warm up. So would you say,
like a warm up song is different from like a
locker room song before a game? And if that's if
that's yes, what songs are you gonna recommend for the
locker room before a game this season? Because I don't
know who's gonna run the ox this year. I know
it's it's rotated. I think Dougie mainly does it normally
do It's okay, so it's normally Dougy. So what songs
(10:19):
are you going to pitch the Dougie this year to
potentially play well?
Speaker 5 (10:24):
I don't know if I have a right to ever
pick a song, but if I have the chance, I
normally say something and I get denied, but you know,
at least I try.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Right, Yeah, no, it doesn't hurt to try.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
Again.
Speaker 5 (10:36):
Probably Purple Rain but you can't go wrong with again,
John Sommit or something like that, like do.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
You want to sing a little bit of Purple Rain
for us? Like I don't know, No, I.
Speaker 6 (10:47):
Know the beat, that's all. I don't know lyrics.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
For a lot of Yeah, exact, ready to go, We're
gonna do that.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Well, uh, are you ready to do our drafts? Are
you ready? Or have one more? One more question?
Speaker 4 (11:01):
We'll do our drafts okay, because they have many more
so let me just okay, how long do you think
you'd survive in a zombie apocalypse? Are you going right away?
Or you hanging out?
Speaker 7 (11:13):
I'd like to going to a military school.
Speaker 8 (11:15):
I like to think I could last a little longer
than the average person, But I don't know.
Speaker 7 (11:20):
I think i'd do all right.
Speaker 6 (11:22):
I feel like it depends where you are and who
you were.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Seriously, that's a good point.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
If you have someone like good and like they're out
doorsy and stuff like that, then I feel like you're okay,
like you can find a good hiding spot or no,
but I would need weapons first and stuff.
Speaker 6 (11:36):
I have no.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
Idea a podcast, like, yeah, let's got a plan a writing? Okay,
one more quick question, Johnny since you just moved here
last year, right at this time last year?
Speaker 7 (11:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (11:49):
Around was it the twenty ninth. Yeah, it's like it's
been a year and four days since I started working here.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Okay, So, is there one thing that you've learned in
the last year that you can sure with the voice Tucson,
not like how to survive here?
Speaker 2 (12:04):
Well, Laane's been here for a little bit, so a
bit of the city, but and Will was here for
a bit too. But I don't know, man, this city
is just uh, it's insane sometimes, like you'll just see
the most crazy stuff in the middle of the streets.
But I would say nice, small community. You know, it
has that small town community vibes. And I think that's
what makes our Roadrunner game so great as well, just
(12:27):
because you know, the smaller community, a more tight knick
group it is. So yeah, that's all I'll saying. And
it's a fun college sound. It's nice having U of
A here so which I didn't know U of A
was here until I moved.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Here here, just so you guys, if anybody else, yeah,
I I.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
I had no clue until my friends told me.
Speaker 6 (12:45):
So last year.
Speaker 5 (12:46):
I just told Gather, I think yesterday or today, a
couple of us went to a Wildcats game basketball.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
Awesome.
Speaker 5 (12:57):
I thought like normally half the time you'd be like,
and you're sitting down on your seat. No, I was
standing half the time.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
That's awesome.
Speaker 6 (13:05):
Actually yeah, well oh for sure.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
And plus they were good last year too, and I
think they're pretty good as well this year.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
So we're consistently high lowering.
Speaker 7 (13:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Yeah, it's a good year. Just gotta keep it rolling.
So yeah, yeah, big for football right now. We watched that.
We were watching that game last night, a cold beers
and cheeseburgers. That was a big upset, big upset for
the team.
Speaker 6 (13:29):
Yeah, we were watching the Georgia and Alabama game yesterday.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
That was insane.
Speaker 6 (13:35):
That was the craziest game.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Yes, I when it was when it was thirty to
fifteen and I and I think Georgia had just scored
them like they're gonna come back, and they did, and
then all that craziness happened. You didn't see the game.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
I didn't see it. Thanks for the catch up. They
had no clue.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Yeah, we'll pretty much long story short. At the end,
Georgia scored, took the lead, uh, and then Bama took
it right back after blowing the lead, and then Georgia
tried to tie it up. For no, they try to
take the lead back and they threw a pick and then.
Speaker 6 (14:04):
And my god, that got the winning touchdown and intercepted it.
Or right, it was a seventeen year old.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Wait it was the same player. Yeah, so he's like
Travis Hunter, corner and wide received.
Speaker 6 (14:16):
That's what I was saying. I didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
I didn't know. I knew he was seventeen. I saw
the all this stuff about that, and uh, that's crazy.
I didn't know he also played a corner. I didn't
know he was the one who got the interception. But yeah,
fun day of college football. Speaking of speaking of which,
are we ready to draft? You're ready to get this rolling?
Speaker 7 (14:36):
All right?
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Whihould we do first? Should we do the best movies
or the best what do you guys want to do first?
Speaker 6 (14:44):
I'm down for the sauceage.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Let's get that out right, all right, Let's see, I
guess we do have to go in a specific order. No,
we've never done this with four of us, so we're
gonna see how this goes. But uh, we'll go by
how we're sitting. I guess, so we'll I gotta let
them go first to the guest. You'll go, we'll go
the other one for the next one. Yeah, so well
you'll go first, lane, you'll go second, I'll go third,
(15:09):
and then Kim, you'll go last. So I'll just try
to keep this on a list as much as I can.
So I'm not we're not repeating each other's picks.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
Just to be clear, We're just doing like are we
doing like dipping sauces or like salad or like.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
It's I think it's any sauce you want. I did think,
we know, we don't really specify here a lot. So yeah,
and yeah, if you feel like it's you feel like
it's salad, dressing or dipping sauce. Yeah, just best best sauces,
best sauces you can think of.
Speaker 8 (15:40):
All right, from starting, I guess like Buffalo, just like
I think that's pretty hard to beat, Like Buffalo.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Okay, I had that on my list. I had that
on my list already. Stealing one from.
Speaker 6 (15:49):
Me, I'll go, I'll go the easiest one yet, I'll
go ranch.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Yep, you can you can't go ranches. Ranches number one.
Ranch is always number one Okay, Me'm gonna go with
honey mustard. That's a good one too, honey mustard.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
Okay. So I had ranches my number one, but that's
off the table. So I'm gonna say like a Celanthroe
clanro vinigarette.
Speaker 6 (16:11):
Okay, I like that.
Speaker 7 (16:13):
I'll stick with the wing theme. Barbecue.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
Okay. You know I did not have barbecue on my list.
That's it's actually shocking. Did not think about that one.
Speaker 6 (16:21):
Okay, I'm gonna go, like, what's it called?
Speaker 4 (16:25):
Did you guys not write any of this down?
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Did I put them on their phone?
Speaker 4 (16:30):
I didn't see you looking at it? And I'm like, how.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Is the whole time? I thought it was salad dressing? Okay,
I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (16:37):
Okay, I'm gonna throw one out there. It's kind of
like out of the left field, but I go Chick
fil A sauce. Okay, kind of hit honestly. Okay, that's
a good one. It's a good one.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Oh me. Now I'm gonna go with spicy mayonnaise. You
can put that, you can dip it. I don't know
if I've never never seen peel dip it, but I
put it on like almost everything. Egg salad eggs in general.
Burgers uh so yeah, spicy male.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Okay, someone's kind of similar, but it's not exactly the same.
Garlic Ali.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Yesterday, I cold beers and cheeseburgers, cheeseburger. It was really good.
Speaker 7 (17:19):
You guys got a lot of good ones. The way
why we draft so much?
Speaker 2 (17:23):
So I just draft is fun, like I feel like
catch up.
Speaker 7 (17:27):
Yeah everyone, Uh, I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Go male, it's regular Male's.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Oh that's why do I keep thinking you're after me?
I'm I'm going crazy. I'm gonna go with honey Chipotle. Uh,
specifically Chili's Honey Chipotle. I don't know if you guys
have had that, but pretty pretty good stuff.
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Okay, okay, I am going to pick. I don't know
if you guys have ever had this, but if you've
eaten Chinese food, have you ever had hoist and sauces
like like kind of like soy sauce, but it's a
little bit sweeter, so hoist and sauces.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Yeah, never heard of that, but I'm sure it's good.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
You really need to incorporate that to your like cookies.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Yeah, menu, Uh, just.
Speaker 8 (18:18):
Go another classic just Mayre and Era just like okay, man,
I got to think.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
You guys are picking good ones too, like something I
didn't think of.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
I don't go.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
I don't know if anyone said it yet, but honey barbecue,
honey barbecue.
Speaker 6 (18:36):
I think that's not too shaby.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
No, that's good. Well, there are a lot of sauces
now you think about you kind of can just mix
up anything together. Me next, I'm gonna go with a
thousand island.
Speaker 4 (18:47):
Yeah, I'm not a fan.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
I also had that last night on my burger. I
made a custom burger last night, cold beers and cheeseburger.
So that's why my I had a lot of random
items on it.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
Okay, going back to dress seems because I had put
dressings down and I thought that's only what we were doing.
Olive gourden Italian.
Speaker 6 (19:07):
I had that down too.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Okay, so good, Okay, that's a good one.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
It's yeah, it's next level. And then yeah, I love it.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
We got one more left, yeah, one more left each.
Speaker 7 (19:19):
I don't know if this is really a sauce, but
I feel like everyone puts it on stuff nowadays. Guawk
like that's kind of.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Oh, it is a sauce. It's not a sauce. It's
a dip.
Speaker 2 (19:28):
But that's okay, we'll make it count.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
Oh, I got my last one.
Speaker 6 (19:35):
Okay, what's a hidden one. I'm trying to think.
Speaker 7 (19:39):
It's a mustard, just like.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Straight up honey mustard.
Speaker 7 (19:45):
Or Dejon alfraid.
Speaker 6 (19:47):
All for the sauces money. Actually, I'm just gonna go
Caesar salad like Caesar.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
That works. Oh, last one for me. I'm gonna go
with garlic parmesan sauce.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Okay, wait, I gotta go last.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Yeah, yeah, you gotta go last.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Jimmy Cheery. Huh, Jimmy Cheery. Have you guys ever had
Chimmy chery sauce?
Speaker 6 (20:11):
Now you're throwing on like weird, yeah, weird stuff.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
You are the curves on this one.
Speaker 6 (20:16):
I gotta see a picture. Maybe I see a picture.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
You've had, like flank steak marinated and Chimmy cheery. Yeah,
probably google google it and then marinate a flank steak
in it and come back.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
That sounds pretty good.
Speaker 6 (20:28):
Now we got what we got movies?
Speaker 3 (20:29):
Now?
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Right?
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:30):
All right? Are you ready for our best sports movies?
All ready for that? All right, we'll go back into
this order. So kim you will be going first.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Okay, So miracle, Yes, that's good.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
That's all.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
That's a that's an id pick. Sorry, I'm just gonna
write this all down. Okay, So Kim with Miracle.
Speaker 10 (20:49):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Next for me, I'm gonna go with Moneyball.
Speaker 6 (20:53):
Oh okay, damn, I had that one too.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
I think that was bad.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Also a good pick for and events with the Oakland A's,
but everyone playing the videos with the they were playing.
I heard they were playing Moneyball like the theme of
that at the game when it was over, and I'm like, dude,
why would they do that. That's just the saddest thing ever.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
But yeah, Moneyballayne, I'm gonna get old fashioned Mighty Ducks.
Speaker 6 (21:19):
Okay, I feel like Mighty Lucks one.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Is the best.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
I think it is.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
You have to Okay, just curious.
Speaker 7 (21:30):
Kind of throwback slap shot.
Speaker 4 (21:32):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Yeah, that's a good one. That's a good one.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
Okay. My number two is the Sandlot.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
I had that as my number two. Good one, good one.
Big one is Aaron Dodgery. Good movies, A good one. Gosh,
you guys have taken a lot. Next one for me,
I'm gonna go with the blind Side Blind movie too.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
I know all this stuff happened with it. Saying it's
like not a true story, but like if you just
watched it as a movie, then it's like, Okay, it's
a good movie.
Speaker 6 (22:01):
It's still good.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
It's still good, still good.
Speaker 5 (22:04):
I'm gonna go with Happy Gilmore, Oh good, good golf movie.
Speaker 7 (22:11):
Probably gonna go with I love Talagaga Nights.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
I don't know, I love that.
Speaker 4 (22:20):
Okay, So number three Dodgeball.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Ah Kim, you take my took my next one. Gosh,
I feel like I'm already running out of ideas because
you guys took sobody. I'm gonna go with the Longest
Yard for my next one. Longest Yard Adam Sandler Masterclass.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
I'm gonna go with this movie called Greater. It's a
football movie. It's a true story too.
Speaker 4 (22:46):
Who's in it? I don't know.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
It's about a kid that was trying to become a
razorback and he was told all his life that he
wouldn't make the team, wouldn't make the team, he was
too small, too heavy, and then he ended up working
so hard that he needed a scholarship to be on
the team, and he got a scholarship. It was one
(23:12):
of the best UH defensive box in the game, and
he got drafted.
Speaker 6 (23:18):
To I think Believe Dallas.
Speaker 5 (23:20):
Okay, and then uh, he usually did this thing where
he would meet up with his mom I think every
week to do laundry or something.
Speaker 6 (23:27):
Like that, because he was a good kid. He loved
he loved all that stuff.
Speaker 5 (23:31):
And when he was going back to see his mom,
he got in a car accident.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
It's a sat truth.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Wow, that was a good one. Took us on a journey.
Speaker 8 (23:46):
I'm trying to think. I guess go along with Football
water Boy.
Speaker 6 (23:51):
I like, that's that's a good one.
Speaker 4 (23:54):
Adam Sandler. Things happening a lot of sports movies. Okay,
So I don't know if you guys like motorsports, but
Ford versus Ferrari I love that movie.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Yeah all right, next one for me, I'm gonna go
with All Time Classic Rocky. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
Yeah, I hope this counts as a sport.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
But Karate Kid, Yeah, that works, that works.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
Wait, are you one of those people who thinks that
Ralph Machio is the karate Kid or William Zapka? Have
you heard that?
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (24:31):
Oh, the very first movie I think it was, who
was it with Smith?
Speaker 6 (24:37):
Well, Smith's Little Kid?
Speaker 4 (24:39):
I think, oh, oh, you're talking the remake.
Speaker 6 (24:43):
Yeah, the remake I went to.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
But also the original ones are really good too. I
like those ones as well, but I think they're all good.
Speaker 7 (24:49):
Okay, I've been going another throwback Major League good movie.
Speaker 4 (24:55):
Oh my god, I quote that movie daily. Okay, so
we're on number five.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
This is our last one.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
Yeah, so many good ones. So have you guys ever
received like super throwback? Have you guys ever seen Caddyshack? Yes, yes,
I figured you hadn't because it's a gold movie.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Oh okay, I'm trying to get in the Oh, no,
I have not seen Caddy Shack.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
You gotta watch caddy Shack.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Last one for me. It's it's a movie called Rush.
It's just like kind of racing in.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Austria with the Hamsworth.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Hamsworth's in it. Yeah, it's and like the main it's
like a rivalry. It's not in Austria.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
One of them Formula one, so it's all over the world.
It's a true story.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
Okay, Yeah, like a big rivalry between the two racers.
One of them gets in a crash and burns really badly,
and like people were making fun of him and stuff,
just how he looked. And then the rival racer would
respect him so much, starts standing up for him and stuff.
It's good movie.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
It's a true story.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Is true story. The guy I hadn't seen a while.
It's just one of the ones I thought of.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
Yeah, it's it's a true story. So you guys, if
you haven't seen, it's so good.
Speaker 6 (26:03):
Okay, I'm gonna go with Hustle.
Speaker 5 (26:08):
It's Adam Sandler, he finds a basketball guy one.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
Yeah, yeah, more Newish.
Speaker 6 (26:13):
Yeah, newish, I would say. I think it's like what
twenty three maybe, yeah, Yeah, it's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
I think.
Speaker 7 (26:21):
Probably lash one for me. Uh when Michigan mag Wall
gotta go semi pro. Well, I like that.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
All right, good drafts, guys. I'm glad we uh glad
we got that all together and glad we go in
the right order. And we hadn't done that with four people,
so uh but yeah, well, guys, thanks so much for
coming on again. We look forward to seeing you during
training camp and seeing you during the preseason and getting
ready for the twenty four to twenty five season. You guys,
(26:48):
have got any questions for us before we send you
off to the fans to get some stuff signed.
Speaker 7 (26:54):
I don't really have anything or not. You got anything more.
Speaker 6 (26:57):
You guys excited for the season.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Yeah, we're ready.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
Yeah, yes, longest summer in the world.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Yeah, it was a long summer. But we're ready and
ready to get things rolling. But guys, thanks so much
again for joining us, and uh, welcome, welcome to to soon,
welcome back, and h we'll see you later on.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
Thanks for having us.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
That was great, Kim I.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Had such a good time.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
That was awesome. Well, Gavin and Laane Moore now they
are signing autographs to our very left, so we're gonna
let them do that, and we're gonna banter on a
little bit here and.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Gas And is a cool, cool nickname.
Speaker 2 (27:31):
Yeah, that was a cool nickname. And it's it's funny
because yeah, usually nicknames are to keep things short, like
Jonathan Johnny. Your real name is kim right, not like
Kimmy or something.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
I have a super long last name. So my mom
was very nice.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
And okay, first, yeah, see my name is just long,
like Jonathan Schaeffer, Like it's you can say quick obviously,
but it's it's pretty long. But yeah, usually nicknames are
are just more quick. But then you have lane more
which is quick to say, but then you just say
Morse code takes a tiny bit longer, but it's a
sick nickname.
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Yeah it is really Yeah. Whoever came up with that
for him did a solid.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Yeah, really cool nickname. Kim Big news coming last week.
Dylan Gunther, Oh, yeah, Roadrunner, who was with us last season,
had a very good year with us, got called up
to the Coyotes, had a great season with them as well,
came back to US for the playoffs, had that nice
playoff goal with Utah Hockey Club. Now and he has
(28:25):
secured an eight year extension worth Oh I just had
right here, fifty seven point one million. Gunther is twenty
one years old and he's making that much money. The
contract starts next season, starts off in twenty five, twenty six.
So that's why they call it an extension because it's
the same contract, just you know, more money now. But uh,
(28:47):
eight years, that's yeah, I mean, and that's that's just
a part of a rebuild, you know. And the Utah
Hockey Club's in a really good spot. We're in a
really good spot. And you know, sometimes during a rebuild
you got to realize, like, we want this guy to
be here long term. And that's exactly what they just
did with Dylan Gunther, and we've kind of seen that
(29:08):
same pattern. You know. We we have our young prospects,
they get to some NHL time they like we like
to prefer as bake in the AHL. Dylan Gunther does that,
has a good season with us and now earns the
big cash and he's with the organization long term.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
And I think so preseason game is happening right now,
if it hasn't already finished, and I think he got
the first goal of the night.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
I think he did. Yeah, yeah, from what I heard,
Gunther has a point, Josh Jon has a couple of points.
I don't have the box scoring run from me. It's
just what I find from a fan that was telling
me the score. Yeah, Key Big got a point. So yeah,
all of our boys are looking good in the preseason.
Dylan Wells backing up the Malca, so you know, considering
(29:51):
it's preseason, I think he should get some time in
the net. So yeah, I don't have the box score
run for me. Maybe I should pull that up, but
regardless of that, Yeah, it's preseason right now. Utah had
their rookie training camp a few weeks ago that went
very well. First couple of games in the Utah Sweaters
and Laine Moore and Will Gavin were there. Uh, and
now we have preseason and in Henderson this weekend.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
Kim, I don't I honestly don't know how the guys
do it, because these these weeks leading up to all
of this is just absolute chaos. Like I don't know
how they know where they are at certain points, Like
I would just be so lost going between what la
Utah here, maybe back up to Utah, Like it's just
(30:34):
and it all happened, It all happened so fast.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Yes, it's a lot. From what I heard, I think,
you know, Steve Povin and all of our hockey ops guys,
all the players they're into, you do, They're in Utah
for about three weeks to a month. I mean it
was a yeah, it was pretty long, but uh, you know,
from what I heard, everything went good. And uh, Steve
was actually here at FanFest, so I got to chat
(30:58):
with him a little bit and catch up and we'll
have him on our Happy Hour show this coming Tuesday,
if you're listening, Uh before Tuesday first Happy Hour show,
if Kim and I were gonna have Steve Popvin on
the show, but yeah, it was talk to him and uh,
you know, he said that the off season feels so long,
but once you get to that point where it's right there,
the season's coming up, it happens so quick. And now
(31:20):
we're here and in it's training camp.
Speaker 4 (31:22):
And it's it's interesting too because like I can't wait
for the season to start and like chomping at the bit.
And then by the time we get to February.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Like, yeah, that's just the that's the full grind of it.
But again, like, yeah, you wouldn't want to be anywhere else.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
No, I definitely wouldn't want to be anywhere anywhere else,
but I do like, yeah, I mean like the boys
like just go once. Yeah, once the preseason starts, like
they just go and go and go and go and go.
So yeah, I'm excited. I'm here for it. Let's let's
get this started.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Get this party start. We got a couple of audio clips, Kim.
I don't think I told you we had some audio
clips referring back to Dylan Gunther's big contract. Uh, as
I said, we like to bake our guys in the AHL.
AHL is a developmental league, but you know, we're here
to win of course, but we're also here to get
our guys ready for the big leagues. And Jimba Bill
(32:12):
Armstrong the one giving gun through the big contract on
just you know, getting ready in the AHL go through
there first.
Speaker 9 (32:19):
And when you know, Dylan was down there every night.
You know, the thing about it that we loved about
him is he was driving it. He was driving the play.
He was our best player. Coaches were raving about his work,
at his commitment and whenever he's faced adversity, and I'd
like to take some responsibility for placing that adversity in
his life at times, he has responded greatly. And that's
(32:41):
one of the things that gives us a great confidence
when we sign him to the steal.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
There you go, Bill Armstrong, He's done a fantastic job
of the rebuild, Kim. He's gotten this team ready for success.
And you know, we're at that point now where we
know the road Runners are going to have a good
year and we know Utah is going to have a
good as well. Yeah, you know me, I'm always I'm
always optimistic. I'm always saying I'm always saying things. But
(33:07):
it's just from the talent standpoint, you know, And and again,
we're right next to training camp and we just don't
know who's gonna be here yet because there's just so
much talent. And we listened back to the rookie training
camp and Bill Armstrong was just giving a lot of
names who could be making the team, like Max super
Maverick Lamrou who's been a big talk and again like
(33:30):
he could start here, he can start in Utah, but regardless,
he's six seven, he's a great defenseman and he's imagine
him and Kurz Douglas both on the ice, like we're
gonna have. So it's just players like that where yes,
we don't know where they're going to be, we're gonna
find out very soon. You know, we're getting our training
camp roster eventually. But then Utah still has to, you know,
make their decisions on who they want to send to
(33:51):
us and vice versa, where we have our guys who
they're gonna call up eventually. But that's just how much
death we have right now.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
And I think to one of the key components, and
we saw this a lot last season, was that we
didn't just have the talent, we also had the dynamic,
Like the chemistry the boys had so much chemistry with
each other last season. So I'm really excited to see
how things shake out and and who ends up here
(34:18):
and who ends up there, and and then what that'll
look like. I like that you say that we bake
them down here. Let's call it air frying.
Speaker 2 (34:25):
I love air fryers, speaking of also doing Gunther baking
the Ahl and I guess air friers because something you
buy with all that money. Some big purchases potentially coming
up for Gunther and he was asked that after his
contract extension.
Speaker 6 (34:40):
Do you have any big purchases planned yet?
Speaker 10 (34:43):
No.
Speaker 7 (34:44):
Me and Bill talked about that yesterday.
Speaker 9 (34:50):
No.
Speaker 7 (34:50):
I mean, I'm a fairly simful guy.
Speaker 8 (34:53):
I mean, me and Banner like to go to you know,
Walmart and Costco and see what we can buy around there.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
But so.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
The grocery lists are getting bigger. According to Dylan Gunther
at Walmart.
Speaker 4 (35:06):
Is Dylan one of the ones who didn't pay his
electric bill last season.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
I have no clue was that a thing.
Speaker 4 (35:12):
Yeah, the two of the players, two of the young
players were living together, and it was the electric bill
or the water bill or something that they didn't It
made national news because they they didn't realize they didn't
realize they had to. They didn't know.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
I'm still getting built from my old apartment. I got
billed the other day. I canceled it.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
No, you didn't turn it off. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (35:32):
I canceled it.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
Like you're still getting a bill from there. Yeah, we
need life skills. We need more life skills classes for no,
because I went.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
I literally went to the website and I said, okay,
I want my service to be done on the day
I moved out. And then like days later, I get
a bill which is bigger than the bills I've usually gone.
I don't know. Maybe I haven't looked at it. It's
been a little busy lately, but maybe it's a termination bill.
Let's yeah, I don't know, but yeah, I'm STI getting
(36:02):
billed from them.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
Okay. So for my last place, it was Dylan Dent
Theer and Jack mckpain living together in March. No, I
don't realized that they had to pay a water bill
and turned off.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
Well, I'm hoping that Dylan can start paying the water
bill now with with all that he could by people
to pay the Yeah, you can hire people bills. Yeah, Kim,
what would you do for with with fifty seven million dollars.
I mean, of course Dylan's gonna make that over eight years.
He's not making that at once, right, But just imagine
maybe you're his age, we're both his age, probably, and
(36:32):
then we just get that much money. What are you
doing first? What's your big purchase?
Speaker 4 (36:36):
My first purchase would be like probably a house for myself, Okay,
I like it, and then I would probably figure something
out for the family, right like, yeah, I don't know,
like it would do something for my family. Yeah yeah, maybe,
like maybe like pay for a big family vacation at
the end of the season. Every take everybody, like, let's
all go all we need. Yeah, I spend two weeks
(37:00):
at Lake Cobo. Everybody take two weeks off. Sood that
sounds nice.
Speaker 2 (37:05):
I had my nice vacation. Man, Well, yeah I would.
I would pay my my parents so they could retire,
at least my dad because he still works, so I'd
give him all the money to retire.
Speaker 10 (37:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
They would probably want to just stay in the house
in Riverside because it's pretty big already, so they probably
just stay there. I don't think they would want to
move anywhere. Maybe move to the beach. I don't know,
but uh, I do that. Honestly, I would probably and
again let's just assume I'm not like working or anyth
because obviously I would never want to leave this job.
I love this job. You know, we don't always do
it for the money. But I would probably just go
(37:39):
travel around the world and visit like every baseball stadium,
every football stadium, every hockey venue, NHL HLU. Maybe if
I have the time and still have some money left,
I'll go to Europe and visit some visit some European venues,
maybe see some of those. So I would love to
(38:00):
see just travel. I know that's such a basic question,
but it's like, what else are you gonna do?
Speaker 4 (38:04):
So yeah, solid, Oh and I would probably buy myself
a pretty nice car.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Yeah oh yeah, maybe maybe I already got my new car.
I love that. Uh. Some fans came by who listened
to the podcast and they're like, new car, and I
was like, yeah, I do have a new car. They listening.
Love the support, love the support always, but yeah, Kim,
well yeah, it's fan fest. That's just when you know,
(38:29):
you know, we like to call fan Fast the official
start to official kickoff to the season. Dylan count there's
big contract, he's gonna have a huge year, and we're
just excited. I mean, that's that's all we can say
right now. You know, you talk about the whole off season,
you talk about the moves we made, and you know
it's it's preseason this weekend, then seasons starts, so we'll
(38:50):
be ready.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
You know what, I just realized we didn't give the
guys a bus feed quizz.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
We'll give Steve one one. We'll give Steve on one
on Tuesday. It's okay, you know, it's okay. We had
a nice flow. That's just how it goes. We flow
with it. But we'll give Steve one on Tuesday for
our Happy Hour show live live buzz feed puase, so
find find a good one for him.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
Okay, I'll find to see perfect.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
Well, Kim, do you have anything else? I think it's
a things are good to wrap things up here? Yeah,
let's go all right here we're here at fan Fest.
Preseason starts this weekend and Henderson Happy Hour returns on Tuesday.
Kim and I will be with Steve Potvin. We'll throw
things out with Roadrunners.
Speaker 10 (39:29):
Rock come after one of ours. We're gonna need a
little more friends. We've seen uscape before. We don't have
the story him tonight.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
We're up tonight to go down.
Speaker 10 (39:55):
Trying to run up fun us. Go back to where
you came.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
From, Get on the bus, drop five far away, Hang
up your skates, drop your gloves, put just this away.
Speaker 10 (40:13):
You got beat down tonight. That's the two sad.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Way Road right from road ridder from road right from
road righting from Nest to sad Way
