When you want more Roadrunners, We'vegot more road Runners. This is the
two Soon Roadrunners Insider Podcast, andwe're not fighting. They were having a
discussion with the voice of the Roadrunners, Adrian Demmy. What advice do you
have for me? Drink a lotof water. It's pretty odd and your
new best friend my best friend,Jonathan Schaeffer. The guys are already talking,

(00:21):
so let's join them right here onyour two Son Roadrunners Insider Podcast.
Two soun Roadrunners Insider Podcast. Hey, what's up, folks? Adrian Teddy
with you alongside Jonathan Schaeffer. Wegreet you from our press box at two
Son Arena for yet another over reactionspecial. Bakersfield series is over. The
home team still is not what agame. The three to two number we

(00:45):
had last week is just out thewindow. Made this game three to two.
I was happy with this game forthe Roadrunners. I'm not losing any
sleep. I think it's a greatseries. I'm glad we played Bakersfield right
now versus last week when the Condorswere down several skaters injured, depleted,
and struggling. I think games overforty eight and forty nine. This is

(01:07):
a team that has playoff experience. They've got good goaltending, they're good defensively,
they're hard in front of the net. The hard stuff that you need
to do to win the playoffs. You got to do to beat Bakersfield,
and that's what we've got right now. In a third period where Roadrunners got
a season high twenty shots on goaland allowed just three shots on goal,

(01:27):
I thought the message came across whatthe Roadrunners want to do. So most
shots in a period and then secondfewest shots against, and it's a motivated
group. It's a frustrated group becausethey wanted to win. But Johnny,
as we talked about three weeks agowhen we beat Conchill Valley to go in

(01:48):
first place, we talked about thebroadcast tonight, It's not about the scoreboard
at the end of the night,It's about did we get one percent better
every day? Did we take advantageof every shift, did we do our
jobs? Did we follow the gameplan. If we do that, the
scoreboard will take care of itself. So just like when we want to Coachella
Valley, we lose tonight, we'reyou know, not not thrilled, but

(02:09):
our process ultimately followed and we've gotwhat we want to do to get one
percent better every day. And we'regoing into Bakersfield on Wednesday, and the
road teams are now six and zeroin this series between the Roadrunners and Condors,
who have now played four straight onegoal games. Roadrunners have played nine
of their last ten games decided bya goal. If this isn't playoff hockey,

(02:30):
Johnny, we're pretty close to it. Yeah, And I think the
when when I heard you talk toCurtis Douglas for Roadrunners post gay, I
just the way he was talking aboutI think he was he was happy,
you know, at least that theywere able to make that great push at
the Ennum Shots, happy about theprocess, happy about what we did,

(02:51):
not the mentality of well, ifwe do that next time, we're going
to be great, right, becausewe only did it. We did it.
First period, we were good.Third period, second period was was
tough. But Curtis was talking aboutthe one percent better of what we did
to get better during the course ofthe game, which is I was talking,
Which is what I was talking about. We were down three nothing going
to the third. Yeah, andAge, I know we lost, but
that's gotta be one of the bestperiods of the season for Tucson. Again,

(03:15):
twenty to three on the shots issomething you don't see a lot.
I remember when we once had twentyfive to four on the shots against Iowa
when we played them last year atthe TCC. So really good period for
the two Soon at the end, there's always fight in this team. And
I say it every Roadrunners post gameand we lose games like this, the
team just always shows fight out there. And they didn't give up there down
three to nothing after forty minutes toplay. Talk to Zach Startini, there's

(03:37):
always something to salvage at least whenyou have a full period of left period
left, no matter what the scoreis. And the Roadrunners just took advantage
of you know, maybe Bakersfield Dotthey were comfortable. They were comfortable.
We were not comfortable still, youknow, and we were just able to
claw back and you know, onceagain for the second straight and I just
couldn't get that last shot on netto create that last scoring opportunity, to

(03:59):
create that last go oh. Butyeah, you'll you'll take it. Losing
two one go games something we're notused to, not used to losing these
three two matchups. But yeah, again there's always positivities no matter how a
game goes, and the positivities thisweek is the two games in a row
we were close. You know, maybe you gotta have you can't have those
stretches where you let Bakersfield just kindof get away with a couple of opportunities,

(04:23):
because you know, throughout this series, or at least these two first
two games, we saw that thegame was close, but then Bakersfield notched
two goals in a short span oftime, and then the deficit got a
little too big. So uh,I know, we just said, like
you know, we're not gonna lookahead, and we got fixed in.
These things were good, but definitelythings to look at when you play them,
at least on Wednesday. We can'tlet Bakersfield get into those greasy spots.

(04:44):
We can't let them have these stretches. We can't dominate for you know,
the first twenty minutes of the game. Let Bakersfield have these five minutes
where they're gonna score two goals andthen try to claw back for the rest
of the game. It's just notgonna work, especially against a team like
Bakersfield who not only has a reallygood defense of boxing guys out, they
have really two good goaltenders, becauseJack Campbell's been playing good for them lately
too, So as you said, good that we're playing them three straight games.

(05:08):
Definitely a team we can be facingin the playoffs, and we'll take
these and move on. And Istill think you look at us twenty nine
seventeen to two and one, we'restill a young team. We're still a
growing team. I'd say Bakersfield ismore of an experienced team. They are
a team with some high priced guys, you know. Bill Armstrong was quoted

(05:31):
at gophn x dot com earlier thisweek talking about Steve Potman and saying Roadrunners
aren't Hershey, the Roadrunners don't havethe skill of Hershey, who's got a
forty nine to zero to three record. We're a blue collar group. We
scratch, we claw, We playa blue collar type of game, and

(05:51):
that's what we are. And Ithink, if you ask anybody, I
think we've overachieved at this point inthe season. And I think this series
had some bad luck in it.Josh Stone hit a pipe in the first
period last night. If we scorefirst, our record when we score first
this year Johnny is twenty four toone oh one hit a pipe on the

(06:13):
first shift of the game. Okay, tonight, some bad luck involved.
We hit two pipes? We did? We hit three pipes? Did we
the third three pipes? Yeah,we had three pipes. We had one
of the first one. I hitthe last one or I think that was
tipped, but still hit the pipe. Yeah, the hit the pipe.
The goal that was disallowed that wentin should have counted in our opinion.

(06:34):
Looking at it after the game, the coaches felt that Bakersfield knocked the net
off, which wouldn't have impacted whetherthe puck was going in or not.
They knocked it off, goal shouldhave counted. It's not a reviewable situation
because you can only review whether thepuck crossed the line, not whether somebody
knocked it off. So some badluck for the roadwinners this weekend. I
would say, going up against theteam in the Condors who are playoff tested,

(07:00):
arguably the two best goaltenders in thedivision, a veteran group who plays
a good, sound, defensive game, and you found a way to get
two games to three to two, which you know, both nights heartbreak.
I thought we had golden opportunities totie the game. I thought both games
Friday and Saturday, we had thechances we wanted, they just didn't go

(07:23):
in. Yeah, and again, hockey is just such a weird sport,
you know, you can, Pete, I thought we've outplayed Bakersfield at least
in these two games, if youknow, overall, you know, maybe
slightly outplayed them. But I mentionedin Roadrunners post game, wellwed twenty one
shots two nights in a row.We lost both games. You know,
Hockey's just a weird sport. Ithought Maddie played phenomenal despite not facing a

(07:45):
lot of shots. You know, the goals that were scored by Bakersfield again
were just really greasy, weird goals, you know, especially last night,
or at least on Friday night. The first goal Bakersfield scored was that tight
angle Maddy couldn't get to the postin time. One was tipped. And
then that broken play, the powerplay, and then tonight just this is
just same situations. You know. The first goal of the game, well
Maddy kind of just scooted the puckaway instead of covering it caused a turnover.

(08:09):
Bakersfield scores two minutes into the game. A couple of other ones where
I think one of them was arebound off of Maddie and the guy was
just right, they're able to scoreit. So yeah, Bakersfield was a
good defensive team and they just tookadvantage of what they were given in the
situations. And that I thought Maddyplayed phenomenal again despite not facing a lot
of shots. So just just oneof those tough series where you think we

(08:31):
should have won those games and wedidn't, just because sometimes the puck luck
just doesn't go your way. Andyeah, lots of post hits this weekend.
Rodrique had a good game, butthe crossbars were definitely on his side
tonight. Yeah, so some badluck there for Tucson and and that being
said, lost two games three totwo. Heartbreaking that they both came in
regulation. But Johnny, you talkabout controlling the game, controlling the series.

(08:54):
Roadunners last night out shot Bakersfield thirtyto twenty one, drew five to
eight power play out shot him twentyto ten in the final two periods.
Tonight, Road Nunners out shoot Bakersfieldthirty five to twenty one, draw four
to the seven power plays, outshot him twenty to three in the third
period, dominating third period, Olivierrod Rieg had to be really really good.

(09:16):
Got some help, but I thinkall all good to this point.
For the Roadrunners. We had agreat day hockey day in southern Arizona.
It started off with the University ofArizona taking on the Coyotes alumni. University
Arizona took a one nothing lead,Oh my gosh, going down the stretch
late, then Shane Doan took overeight two ended up being the final.

(09:37):
Johnny and I caught up with Shane. We'll hear that conversation coming up in
just a few minutes. And thenthe Roadrunners taking on the Condors and those
throwback jerseys. Over twenty five thousanddollars raised for Roadrunners community efforts in that
postgame jersey auction. One of thenumbers I heard Cameron Hebick two grand for
his for his jersey postgames. Sothat's that's what we uh, it's what

(10:03):
we have. You you allowed,uh what forty two shots the whole weekend.
Gosh, and you talk about theway that they've they've scored the goals
that the greasy goals that that wewere kind of on the verge of did
a lot better tonight than I thoughtOn Friday with the emphasis of getting the
puck puck out in front and slamminghome. So that's what it is.

(10:26):
Just the second time this year theRoadhuwners have lost two games on a weekend
in a row. Both have cometo the Bakers Shoelcondors. Now we're gonna
go to their rink. The roadteams are six and oh here in this
season series. Yeah, that's insane. How about how about the stat I
gave on the broadcast earlier this weekend, Nine of the ten teams in the

(10:48):
Pacific Division have a winning record onthe road. Who do you think does
have a winning record on the road? Have nine of the ten teams have
a winning record? Nine of theten teams have a winning record on the
road, San Jose, it's theteam that doesn't. Well, Now that
stat is aged poorly because Henderson justgot shut out and back to back games
in Colorado. So now there's eightof the ten teams. Okay, yeah,

(11:11):
so Henderson and San Jose. Yeah, you're right. It wasn't hard.
It wasn't hard. Was It's nota hard choice? Wasn't it wasn't
hard? So but but uh yeah, good test. I like the test
for Tucson. I think we're stillgrowing as a group. I think we're
still young. Uh and I think, uh, you know, it was
a good test. And as Isaid, I'm glad we played Bakersfield this

(11:31):
weekend versus last weekend when they weredepleted, because this is just thus uh
priming and getting ready for the playoffs. And if everything's gonna be easy and
if we're just gonna push through everythingwithout adversity, that's not how we're getting
our one percent better every day truly. Yeah, And Adrian I was saying
on a Roadrunners post game, uhSaturday night, just you know, sometimes

(11:52):
you play a team that just hasa maybe a better strategy against you know,
the Roadrunners have being San Diego inall of their games. They have
a winning record in the season againstCoachella Valley. They split the series against
Colorado just those two games played. They split the series against Calgary, tied
in the series against Abbotsford. Butthen Bakersfield's the team that has is up

(12:13):
forward to two on the season series. Of course, the next game coming
on Wednesday. But sometimes teams thatare just lower in the standings than you
just can have a good game planno matter a match up a match up
I think would be a better wayto state that. Yeah, it's and
no matter how good you are, sometimes they just you just have those teams
that give you Fritz more than others. And you know, so far,

(12:33):
bakers Field has just been that teamfor Tucson. Again, no team has
won in this home series. Soif Tucson's able to win on Wednesdays,
maybe that's just the way things havebeen going. We're winning, We're winning
on Wednesday, all right, Johnny, Johnny, are you are you ready
to look at the hockey gods havinga sense of humor? Do you remember
last week when we had that thatrough and tumble series with Ontario, And

(12:54):
I'm like, this feels like aplayoff series And they would have been our
playoff matchup if the series ended lastweek. Yes, series that we'd open
with if the playoffs ended tonight.Bakersfield. Yeah, I saw that too.
Yeah, I saw that. Versussix, three versus six winning percentage.
Yeah, And it's just gonna changemore and more. I mean,
we only have a few months ofthe season left, but uh, Calgary's

(13:18):
starting to kind of play a littlebit better than what they've been used to,
Like, you know, As Isaid, we've seen the teams kind
of teeter totter throughout the year.Colorado's playing really good hockey as a recently
they've kind of merged out of nowhere. And Calgary split the series against Manitoba
Abbotsford six and four in their lastten games. So it is Bakersfield and
Ontario least gone to win in theirlast two games, that overtime win against

(13:41):
Coachella Valley, uh, and thenbeating San Diego three to two Saturday nights.
So uh, it's just gonna keepchanging. And again, the Roadrunners
have been able to stand top withinthe three top three spots of the Pacific
Division for a while just because ofthe consistency. And uh, sure the
stretch has been the best right now, but team goes through a stretch like

(14:01):
this, and the Roadrunners are stillkeeping games close and they're still fighting.
Let's hear from the guys we heardfrom postgame. Let's hear from Steve Pottman.
As always, we lead off withthis question from Roadrunners rider from the
Arizona Daily Star, James Kelly,So serious, Well, you know what

(14:22):
I thought. Honestly, our guys, if you look at our first period
in our in our third period. You know, that's the truest version and
form of ourselves. We competed hard, we finished checks, we were on
the right side of pucks. Ithought we were very successful, and we
played our brand of hockey. Unfortunately, in the second period in both games,
we just fell fell away from ourstructure, fell away from our intent

(14:43):
to win battles and commitment to winningbattles, and you know, all of
a sudden, we just kind oflose our focus. Our brain just kind
of doesn't equate second periods from us. We're out of structure, we're out
of detail, we're out of compete, and it ends up, you know,
hurting us, and we're it's inthe back of our next But you

(15:05):
know, if you look at thefirst and third periods, I mean those
were good in both games. It'salways the go to. It's always the
go to. It gets the bestanswer that you could ever ever wish for.
Yeah, what are your thoughts ofthe game. It's it's just it
it's straight to the point. Yeah. And you know, sometimes the reporters
can ask a question that they rambleon a little bit and then now it's

(15:26):
like, well, what are youasking me? Nope, not for James.
Just what's what's the question. What'sthe question? Nope, what are
your thoughts on the game? Straightto the point. And Steve always has
the best answers for him. Sothe Roadrunners following three to two, Road
Team six, and oh, let'shear from Steven camp Or on that road
Team record. It's crazy, right, I haven't seen that a while,

(15:48):
but uh yeah, I mean, you know, we got a good test
going on for us. We gotto go in there. We gotta play
well, regroup a little bit hereand be ready for Wednesday when we go
there. And uh, you know, we got a solid three games that
you know, we gotta get back, get back on track here. So
the road Team now six, andoh they're hot. You know who else

(16:11):
was hot this weekend? Five coliachonic, three special teams goals, one shorthanded,
two on the power play. Likeit's kind of a running joke in
the locker room. And you've beenhere for practices, Flavek. The practice
ends at noon, right, practicegoes eleven and noon, and then we
stay on the ice and we workindividually on stuff. Coaches stay on the

(16:32):
ice, work with guys, youknow, individually and then you know,
everybody's usually off by twelve thirty five. Colia Chonic usually is on the ice
probably about two hours a day tilltill one. He's out there that the
equipment manager's coming out like, hurryup, the performance coach is coming out,
hurry, I'm taking your monitor anyway. So uh, but it's because

(16:56):
he's working. He loves to work, he loves the game, and he's
brilliant. Yeah, he really is. And it's really nice to have him
back here with us. And we'veseen it throughout the season, Adrianial,
all the injuries we've had and themoment guys come back, they're just they're
right to it. You know.Ben McCartney has two assistance coming back from

(17:17):
his injury. Akaratu his first pointtonight since coming back from injury on Friday's
game against Bakersfield and now Coole ETonic. You know, it took a
few games, but now all ofa sudden, he has three goals in
his last two games, all onspecial teams. And I said, tuck
to Stephen, excuse me, talkedto camp Karate about it before Friday's game.
Just we've had so much depth onthis team. It's allowed our guys

(17:38):
to come back to one hundred percent. And with that being said, they
come out and they just they contributeright away. And sometimes you think,
well, well, this guy's beenout for you know, fifteen plus games.
It's gonna take him a couple ofgames to get back to it.
Not for us, because again we'vejust been able to give the guys the
rest they need, give the training, get the training they need to come
back and to come back like they'venever left. Yeah, so we get

(18:02):
Coy Chronic back from that injury andthree goals this weekend for him. Great
job. Let's hear from Rodaners captainStephen Camper on Vlad. We're glad about
Glad. Holy Kali. Here isStephen Camper. Yeah, Lad's playing good

(18:22):
obviously, you know what three goalstwo games. Uh, you know,
it's he's doing well, you know, I mean, it's just he chows
to his work ethic and and thepreparation he does every day and how hard
he works. You know, it'suh, it's great to see him get
rewarded for for his efforts and youknow, we're we're lucky to have him
back here. I think you know, he was a guy that we were
missing for a little bit. Soit's good to see him playing. It's
good to see him playing well, getting back to himself, so you know,

(18:45):
hopefully he keeps it going. It'sbeen like LinkedIn less for about a
year. I like playing with ladI mean, you know, it's one
of those things, you know,John Slaney and I talk about a lot.
You know, it's a I like, I enjoy playing with him,
but you know, it's it's it'snice to have both of us kind of
on different pairings, but when weneed to we can play together, and
you know, it's nice we havea you know, between him and I,

(19:07):
we have a good relationship. Andyou know, Coley and I,
we we do a lot of stuffbefore practices together and just kind of talk
and see the game and see howeach other, you know, view the
game or talk on the bench. So I said, it's it's great to
have him back. It's great toyou know, play with them. It's
great to be his teammate. Yeah, and the road Runners blue line,
you know, with everyone getting healthy, it's really starting to look depthful,

(19:32):
you know, full again, becauseI remember there's that one point of the
season where we had laying more withus, and Peter Delbertory Montagnaan and you
BOOTI were playing every game and theyall did a fantastic job for us,
you know, still helping us wingames. But you know, now we
have guys like Steven Camphor back. You know, you can really notice he's
really comfortable out there playing again,of Vlad coming back playing phenomenal. Victor

(19:52):
Soderstrom is on a two game ofhistory. So really starting to see that
blue line, Uh, get getstacked again, and it's it's good for
Tucson. Let's hear from Blad theguy himself talking about those three goals.
We caught up with him after thegame. We were pushing all the game
through, tried our best, especiallyknowing that we'll lost yesterday. So I

(20:18):
think we should be sharper and theend of the attacks and use our opportunities
to score even more. But justdidn't happen today. Yeah, just the
way he was able to score thosegoals. I mean, I thought the
biggest one was that shorthanded. Youknow, we were down to to nothing
in that game on Friday, andyou know you think like, oh maybe

(20:41):
we got to kill just kill thisoff and go into the period down two
to nothing, but not for theroad Runners that you know, phenomenal job
by Pagansky to get to Leonard.I realized he had a two on one
and rushed right up the ice andCoolie's a really fast skater for defense.
When you know, he was ableto keep up with Leonard, and Leonard's
probably arguably that fastest guy on theteam. So for Coli to keep up

(21:02):
with Leonard on that two and oneand to have that beautiful one timer was
huge, and also gained the powerplay goal in the third period on Friday,
and then another power play goal tonight, So good for Coli. Just
happy to have him back. Andyeah, he's just such a hard worker
on the team, very business firstkind of guy. He's he's very very
intelligent. You heard him talking thereabout the scoring. Listen to this black

(21:25):
Kak right here on this Baker's Fieldseries right now, it looks like the
simulation of the playoffs. And ofcourse we're not choosing opponents, and we're
prepared for all of them and weknow what to do it just we've got
to be more focused and rise oureffort and will to do it right thanks

(21:55):
and win. Yeah, it's funny. Sometimes you see these kinds of playoff
series and you just noticed like, well, the home team hasn't won any
game and in this season series,or I will say a playoff series,
and then you go into the gameseven and you think, well, the
way team in this one's gonna winthe series just because no team has won

(22:15):
the home game. And that's whatit feels like with Bakersfield. So we've
got more Bakersfield. That's it's justinsane, Johnny. We play a knock
him out, throw them down seriesagainst Ontario. They'd be our opponent if
the playoffs ended last weekend. Thisweekend, it's it's a Bakersfield. So
that's what we got from our postgame sound from the locker room. Steve

(22:38):
Potman, Stephen Camper, flag CoyaChaunik, Johnny, You and I were
really really excited about what we wereable to do. At the intermission of
the alumni game, we were ableto catch up with Captain Coyote Shane Down.
It was so cool to meet him. It's so cool meeting such such

(22:59):
a like that, and Josh's dad, Josh's dad, and to be just
to talk to him about Don andyou know just how excited he is that
his son is now part of thenext wave of the future of the Arizona
Coyotes. And man, he hasnot lost a step at all. He
still has though. He still definitelyhas it. Even Josh said he still

(23:19):
has it. I had our firstintermission tonight, Nay. It was so
fun to watch him and yeah, the Alumni team was down one to nothing
and the game was really slow atfirst, and then before you know it,
we were down there watching him rightnext to it and it's beautiful passing
from Shane, and yeah, hestill got it. Let's hear from Shane

(23:41):
Doan right here. So what youall been waiting for here, We made
your way about twenty five minutes sinceme and Johnny with Shane Doan right here.
Shane, welcome to Tucson, whereyou might be more known as Josh's
dad down here in southern Arizona.Great to have you played in the alumni
game. Yeah, it's fun,obviously, it's a unique, cool situation.

(24:02):
I got to drive to the gamewith him, My wife and I
we rode with him on his wayinto the game. That's something I never
ever thought I get to do,so that was pretty special. One thing
I got to ask, I noticedyour number nineteen, and then Josh is
ninety one? Was that always theplan when he was growing up playing hockey?
I know he wore nineteen and thenhe wore nine, and I think
he likes twenty three too as acouple other numbers, but ninety one is

(24:25):
what he settled on at ASU andI thought that that was a pretty cool
number for him and he likes it. When I was coming into the league,
no one would have dare wear ahigh number like that. But now
the game's changed, everyone's wearing highnumbers. He played for Steve Pop and
growing up at the ice end,and now Steve's his first pro coach,
and you know, we love himand it just the way he comes to

(24:48):
the rink with the energy. Didyou ever have a coach like that?
And how special was it for Joshbeing with Steve as a pro after playing
with him growing up? Yeah, you know what, that's pretty unique.
That's something that I'm and you can'treally even write the write a book about
that, like that's something you kindof it's in the scripts and kind of
works out and it's great. Obviouslywe've known Steve a really long time,
and it's something that's pretty special thatthe relationship that they have. Josh has

(25:11):
confidence in in in him and hehas confidence in Josh, so that always
helps. Uh, I can't believeit worked out that way. And Uh,
pretty cool, pretty unique opportunity. And now you've been in the league
for quite some time and the Coyotesare going through their rebuild right now and
lots of young prospects to look forwardto. How exciting is it to see
that Josh is going to be apart of that one day. That's that's

(25:32):
so cool. As a young guy, you just want a chance to play,
You want to prove yourself, youwant to get opportunities. And Uh,
obviously obviously with the Coyotes and theirfarm system, I know it well.
And they got a great group ofyoung guys coming up. Uh,
they got some great players in withthe Coyotes, and it's it's going to
be a lot of fun to seehow how they mature and grow as a
group, because Uh, it's prettyexciting for them as an organization to see

(25:55):
what they have coming. Final question, You've been at the TCC a lot.
Did you in any preseason action herefor the Coyotes. Yeah, I
think I played we played one gameagain. I think it was La played
an exhibition game here which was whichwas a lot of fun. Obviously,
this is the state of Arizona ishuge for for hockey to keep growing.
We got to keep it growing.I'm I'm a big fan of of of

(26:17):
the hockey here. I think obviouslysome of the players that are that made
it to the league and the playersthat are trying to get into the league,
it's it's voting well for us.We just got to keep it going
and keep growing. And I thinkTucson has a great opportunity to grow here
if they can get some hockey programsgoing down here the way that they've started
and keep them. Bilber, weappreciate it. Thanks so much for your
time and good luck the rest ofthe evening. And it's got two points

(26:40):
here for you guys, two pointsfor the Red Rudders, a couple more
goals for John. There we go. That would be nice. That all
works well for me, Okay, all right, such a nice guy too.
Such a nice guy does are?The Dons are awesome just they love
hockey, they work hard, andthey're they're just always a treat to talk
to. They're fun, they're easygoing, like a ball, go to

(27:00):
hockey, you know, just justuh, they're people you'd like to live
next door to. Can you imagineliving next door to the donest neighbors?
Like the front the front yard wouldbe immaculate, shade and mow your at
your side on on on their sideof the house. And you know Josh
should be there helping you take yourgroceries into the house and stuff. The

(27:23):
barbecues would be the best, thebarbiebecue. Barbecue definitely have We want to
go to that. They definitely havefun. So it's our pleasure to talk
with Shane down Hope you enjoyed thathere on the podcast. Johnny, speaking
of skill, how about the Roadrunnerspower play and they score power play goal

(27:47):
in their sixth straight game against Bakershield. They help Baker'shield out a power play
goal for the first time in sixgames, so that's a plus. But
Roadrunners power play is UH five forthe last nineteen that's uh over twenty five
percent in the last seven games.Their role and they got two really steady
units that could put the pucket thenet, and they almost did it once

(28:11):
more each of the last two nightsand if so, they would have gotten
the standings point each of the lasttwo nights. Yeah, especially again,
big reason why the power play hasbeen great latelies because you have Stephen Campfer
who's back. He's been contributing tothe power players of recently. He has
I think he has three of thoseassists. I believe so. And of
course, you know Coolie Tonic hadtwo power play goals this past weekend,

(28:33):
and you know Victor Soderstrom helping outtoo. And the defense is important,
especially in the power play. Youknow, you have those guys back there
setting things up. You have guysback there keeping the pucking when you know
it gets loose for a moment. So I think the big reason why the
power play is up kicked right now, it's just from the defense. And
the power play has really been upkicking. Let's say, since about the
month of the month of January Maylate December January. The power play has

(28:56):
just been really consistently good. Youknow, we had the beginning of the
season where you know, just wasn'tthe best, you know, were it
was still a work in progress.Did the power play unit like every power
play unit is, and uh,it's just been consistently good since then.
And you know that's that's the thingyou really want to get good at and
get settled down when you go intothe playoffs, because you know, if
you have a power play, agood power play into the postseason, it's

(29:18):
going to help you in that longrun. Yeah, and the Roadrunners uh
looking to to make a long run. People are talking, people are talking
about the Roadrunners. We mentioned PhDX Sports listen to podcast that they did
today. Steve Peters, Creig Morgan, Lea Merrill did it, did a
podcast on the Roadrunners and and youknow the run that that they can potentially

(29:42):
make and how big it is forthe prospects to be playing meaningful games right
now and their coach Steve Potman, and some some just great quotes from Bill
Armstrong, the Caddy's general manager,on on Steve, and I retweeted this

(30:02):
article by by Craig Morgan, theCoyotes authority in the in the Phoenix Media
and the headline from his article isPride of the Old Pueblo. Tucson coach
Steve Potman deserves attention for Roadrunners successes. And you know the quote that struck

(30:25):
with me, Bill Armstrong Coyotes,GM. Listen to this man. Steve
hasn't had teams that are like theHershey teams where they're just stacked with skill.
He's had grinding teams, so he'shad to grind his way into the
playoffs. But that group does nottake no for an answer. They just
freaking work and he's done a greatjob down there. Yeah, that's that's

(30:49):
no doubt at all, you know, one hundred percent agree with that because
what this team has been able toaccomplish this year. You know, we
had the guys who have been herefor years, then we had the the
guys who have played pro hockey fora good amount of time coming from Europe,
and then of course we have ourprospects. We had we had a
new goalie, you know, MatthewVolalta, who's had a great season,

(31:11):
but he wasn't really supposed to bethe starter initially, you know, with
the Ivan Proswatov getting claimed. Soyou know, that's also the thing you
have to do as a coach. You have to make sure that Matthew Volalta
is ready. And uh, yeah, this group has just been able to
contribute so much. But yeah, you always you always look at the head
coach first, and yeah, Iagree with you on that. Hershey's stacked.
We know they're stacked, but uh, we found we find our own

(31:33):
ways to win. And yeah,we our own ways to win is to
grind for the puck and we're hard. We're here to develop. That's it.
It's it's developing players to win StanleyCups. That's what we're doing here.
That's it. It's that's that's it. That's that's all we care about.
We care about us, So goPhD x dot com the article on
uh. Steve Potman also retweeted itat azy Adrian Jenny if you want to

(31:56):
find it there. Craig Wrights, why is it pop getting more national attention
when it comes to up and comingcoaches? Is it time that his name
joined the list of potential hires forthe next level? And Bill Armstrong says,
you don't hear his name, butI think you will. I think
in the inner circles there's some talk. Look, Jay Verity got his opportunity
to move forward now and assistant coachwith the Detroit Red Wings Mike Van Ryan,

(32:19):
the road Owners coach in seventeen eighteen. He got his opportunity so I
think it will come for Steve. He's still young. Here's Connor Garland,
one of the players that has reallygone out of his way to say how
much Steve helped him develop as aplayer, as a person, mentally and

(32:44):
on the ice. Here here's ConnorGarland on Steve. Of course he can
said former Coyote and current Vancouver ConnorGarland, who spent two and a half
seasons in Tucson with Potman. Inever had him as a head coach,
but I thought he was an eliteour play coach that knew how to expose
each team we played and had differentbreakouts that he could implement for each team

(33:07):
we faced. He was also wayahead of his time dealing with younger players
and their sensitive personalities might include it, and knew how to get the best
out of them for the day andin the future. I know countless guys
that would give him lots of creditfor their AHL and NHL success. And
we heard the same thing from MichaelBunting. It was here for five years

(33:30):
and is now everybody in the NHLknow. So he is everybody in the
NHL once Michael Bunting on their team. So a great article I liked it
from go phn x dot com.One more one more quote here from Cattie's
coach, h Andre Turney. Fabulous, said Kitty's coach Andre Churney, when

(33:52):
asked to evaluate the work that Potvinand his staff have done in Tucson.
I think he's done a really goodjob with the tools he's provided. Batzi's
a really good guy, and theplayers like him. The reality when you
look at their team and our teamis we have two different teams. He
has a team with more grind, more physicality. We have a lot more
talent up front. I cannot saythat we sit or call every week talking
about systems because we're busy. Wetalk about colls, we sure documents.

(34:14):
I think it's important that he's teachingthose players how we want to play.
So what he's saying is we're moreskilled than Tucson, and Tucson's playing the
same system and winning games. AndBlad said that after the game, he's
like, that's why it's so easywhen we go up because we play the
same systems. We're doing the samething. And Popman quick to credit his

(34:36):
staff and his players for the success. He says, I really do believe
it's because of the humans that wehave in the room. They want to
learn, they want to get better. They're all people that are all trying
to prove something. There may havebeen some missed opportunities with other cultures or
other teams, so they're hungry, they're determined, and with the twenty five
games left in the regular season, the road winners have a chance to secure

(34:57):
home ice advantage at least for thefirst round of the playoffs, not longer.
Popman said, that's the immediate goal. He says, we want to
be able to play in front ofour fans. When we made the playoffs
in that COVID year, there wereno fans allowed. Last season, we
weren't able to play in front ofour fans because the first three games are
on the road. They deserve it. The people that support us, care
for us, show up every night. It inspires us to play well and
be better. And that's a greatarticle. I really liked it. Craig

(35:23):
does outstanding work. He's an allyof Hockey in the Desert and did a
great job with UH with Steve. He also did a podcast with Josh Jone
this week too that you can hearon go PHN x dot com and the
podcast with Steve, Leah and CraigMan. A home playoff game would be

(35:47):
the white out? Would they wouldwe do a wide out? I saw
the last time we do white outshere we Oh, man, that would
be just so electric, so electric, it would can't wait, it just
can't wait for Adrian. Yeah. And Steve, you know is he's he's
he's elite and he's he's just afantastic coach person. Like you can't,

(36:15):
uh, you just can't not wantto go give the guy two hundred percent
because you know he's given it toyou. Speaking of which, last last
road trip, we talked about allright, we're coming home. We're gonna
home for four games. We don'twant to be comfortable. We want to
enjoy it. We want to behome, and uh, we wanted everybody
all in. And you were goingto tell Steve that you weren't comfortable.

(36:38):
And I said last week that Ithink Johnny's just too uncomfortable being uncomfortable to
tell you Steve that he's not comfortable. Did you did you eventually tell Steve?
I did? Did you yell atSteve I'm not comfortable? I didn't
yell it? Saw him walking offthe ice, and he just asked me,
is everything good? And I said, well, Steve, I'm not
comfortable. And it was like Itold him, I've been mean to tell

(37:00):
you that. He points right backat me and then he started walking around
the corner. So it was hardfor me to hear him because I was
waiting for another player to come off. But if from what I can make
up, I think it was alongthe lines of just it's all about being
uncomfortable or not comfortable in the moments, and we've been in the moments throughout
the whole season. So uh,of course Steve always does he has always

(37:22):
has a good thing to say,and uh, yeah, I got to
tell him I'm not comfortable and we'renot gonna be comfortable. We're not comfortable,
comfortable until the final whistle of theseason. Yeah, it's it's comfortable
life. It's good life. We'renot comfortable though, Oh no doubt.
Hockey of the Desert best thing ever. It's warm here, but we're not
comfortable. We're not comfortable. Wecome in on our flip flops, well
we don't. We come in oursuits and ties. I took my tie

(37:43):
off. You're still wearing your tie, I am. I don't know why
I haven't. I couldn't stand anotherside. I was over here at two
o'clock today to help our good friendAaron Patterson from k GOT nine talk to
the the alums. So, uh, lots of lots of great people.
There's the one. I games arefun. Those guys uh fun enjoyed coming
out. It was. It wasa great day to great crowds. Taylor

(38:06):
Swift night and then the hockey dayhere in uh southern Arizona. Hey,
speaking of good people, we talkabout our practice day and and you know
we bump into folks from time totime. When Maddie came back from the
valley on Thursday, but Wyatt waswith him, his twin brother Wyatt.
We loved why he was back intown. When was the last time I

(38:29):
didn't see him? Today he wasgoing to try and move his flight from
today to tomorrow. Didn't make Hedidn't make I didn't see him. No,
I saw Maddie. Yeah, hecouldn't do it. But he's coming
back for the playoffs. He's comingback from coming back for the playoffs.
Did you hear uh? Did youhear Wyatt? I think he said that
he surprised Maddie by washing his carwhen they came back on Thursday. I

(38:50):
did not hear that. Yeah,I think, I think, yeah,
so that's not a good surprise, the hard to wash your car. They
drove back from the valley together,Maddie came in and I think Wyatt took
his ticket car and got the car. So, yeah, it's so awesome
that he got to come out.He came that last Monday to come watch
Matthew Vilalta in this fill start.I made it out to the moment.
We're there too. I was there. It was so awesome to see Maddie,

(39:12):
you know. And uh, hewent against the best of the best
when he gets the oilers, youknow, he had to face Connor mcdanielvid
Leon Drysuttle, and regardless of thescore, I thought he played a phenomenal
game. And we talked to himand he just said he was he was
happy for the experience and he learnedso much from up there. And you
know, sometimes it only takes youknow a week to just be up there
with with the big league guys tolearn so much. And again I thought

(39:32):
Maddy played really good, you know, coming back from the Coyotes, so
he probably learned so much. Heprobably learned from you know. Of course
he was probably still working with CharlieMcTavish while he was up there. But
yeah, Corey Schwab, goaltending coach, goltending genius, goaltending magician two up
there for the Coyotes. Yeah, there you are. And just it was
great for him, and uh,we're happy to have him back. But

(39:54):
we'll see if Steevie gets another opportunity. Yeah, he sure will next time.
I mean, you know, CarrelMalca, Connor Ingram, the one
of two guys. But Connor gothurt seven and days out, Maddie went
up and uh did a great job. How about Maddie six games in nine
nights. I said to Steve, like, gosh, how how stoked is

(40:15):
he right now? This is hissixth game that he's dressed for nine nights,
four with the Coyotes and two withthe Roadrunners. And how about it?
Five of those six games right herein the desert, the deserts desert's
goaltender. That's a good that's anickname. We got to stick with it.
I think I think it's a nickname. We can start calling him he
has the sowaro pads, his helmethas the uh the an, the Looney

(40:37):
Tunes animation of the Roadrunner and theCoyote. I mean, he's literally the
Desert's gold tend Desert's golden starting.He's really that's got a stick. I'm
gonna start, We're gonna start callinghim that. Yeah, that's what he
is. What he is, Maddia. We love Maddie. I love Maddie.
Oh so glad that he came here. I never I never met him
when he was with the Ontario Ray, never never saw the guy. I

(41:00):
would have had no idea who hewas probably when to recognized him, and
boy were we ever missing out?Yeah, guy who made forty eight saves
a night against us for four straightyears. Didn't know who he was?
Yeah, I mean I had somebackground knowledge of him because of my aunts
who's a huge Ontario Rain fan,so she gave me the whole spiel on

(41:23):
who Maddy Volota is. And yeah, might have had games against the San
Jose Barracuda where you know, weknow who he was, but we just
didn't know the kind of guy heis. And the guy behind the mask.
Yeah, it's always the guy behindthe masks. And that's what's fun
about working in this industry. Youknow, for us, we could make
all these connections, and then wemake these connections with players too, And
you know, we've seen Maddie playagainst us, and now we're seeing him

(41:45):
play for us. And you know, I spent two seasons when Montagna and
Rbucci and San Jose. I spentmy very first season in working in pros
with John Leonard. I think JohnLennon was probably my first ever pro interview.
You said that, I think hewas so And now we're here in
two So just love the just lovehow the connections work, and just how
you you you've worked for a team, the players on the team, you

(42:07):
have a great year with them, they might leave, you might leave,
and then you combine and and seeeach other again in the new team.
And that's just fun how it works. Road Runners Off will be in Bakersfield
Wednesday, another game with the Connors, trying to make the road team six.
And oh, we'll be in Hendersonnext weekend, so Johnny, I
guess that means another bus stop specialafter the game on Saturday night. Oh

(42:27):
yeah, for sure. And we'reeither overreacting at home or at the bus
stop. Yeah, you know Henderson, last time we faced them was that
that split series. I think we'vesplit them both into two game series.
Is at least uh got the threepoints against overtime, so you know,
definitely a team you'd like to geta sweep against. So you can kind

(42:47):
of game some ground on ground onthat season series. And yeah, I
think the big game of the seriesis definitely that Bakersfield matchup. Yeah,
the guys are gonna want to getget some something back again. Yeah,
you talk about bumping into guys. We've got two former guys on Bakersfield and
Camdeneen and Lane Peterson. I wantedto see I didn't see him. I
didn't see him after the game, but I wanted to tell Cam Deaneen because

(43:08):
he got called for roughing. Yeah, heard you talking about that. Cam
got called for roughing. I've knownCam since. Is he not a kind
of guy who does that stuff? Is he not not a fighter dude on
this show? So he got calledfor roughing Josh doone at he just kind
of pushed him. Yeah, twentyseven seconds of the third period. I
wanted I wanted to see Cam.Maybe I'll tell him in Bakersfield. I'll

(43:28):
find him in Bakersfield. I'm gonnatake the mic up to him. I'm
gonna say, Cam, I didn'tknow you you started roughing people? When
when did this begin? He'd probablylove that. I can't give you a
good I can't. I can't waitto tell him. He's like, no,
Adrian, I know, I didn'tdo anything. I didn't do anything.
That's what they all say. Ididn't do anything. I didn't do
anything. Lane Peterson didn't see himthis weekend either, But now we're going

(43:52):
to Henderson. Two of our favoritesthere too, and Dyson Man and Adam
Kracknell who Adams unfortunately hurt so wewon't see him on the ice. But
excited to see Teresa and the girlsand Dyson and Brittany and their two kids,
and Johnny. This is going tobe our last road trip really that

(44:15):
that we're not going to have youon one of them. I know in
March, oh gosh, I haveto look at the schedule again. But
no, in March going on thatone off against the Coachell Valley Firebirds and
then going with you guys for theOntario and San Jose series in March.
So Yeah, it'll be nice beinghere in Tucson. But again, always

(44:37):
love going on those road trips. The team is six and one for six
and one when I'm with them.So what do you want to come on
this trip? Do you want tocome? Is that an option? Well,
you could put you in the backof the equipment truck. There you
have the trucks driving the whole weakget I'll take it. I'll make a
tight squeeze in there. Yeah,I'll make a tight squeeze. So Bakersfield
Henderson. I like Henderson's Arena, except the view point. We get the

(45:00):
viewpoint we get. That is whatit is. We're We're we're living the
dream. We anything. Any adversityyou faces a broadcaster in uh pro hockey
is better than the best days somewhereelse. Yeah, I guess that's it.
That's a good point. But yeah, excited go on these road trips.
Road trips are always really fun anduh sometimes I've noticed Dan dream like
you know when we when we losea couple of games at home like this,

(45:22):
you know, with the one comingagainst Ontario and then two on Bakersfield,
it's always the road trips that kindof get us back on track,
and you never know, we cango through and on this road trip like
we've done the last and come backhome we start winning some more games.
Yeah, and we've got Calgary andHenderson coming up on the next home stand.
We've got eight home games coming upduring the month of March. So
it's gonna be fun. That's gonnaben gonna be and that I'll be with

(45:44):
you guys on the two road trips. It gonna be busy. So you
want to do. Off the topof Adrian's head, here's what we have.
So bakershild Wednesday, Henderson next Friday, Saturday. Then we're into March.
Calgary Tuesday, the fifth, Wednesday, the sixth, Cochilla Valley standalone
Saturday night on the ninth, backto play Henderson on the twelfth, the
thirteenth, Tuesday, Wednesday at home, six thirty working School at face offs

(46:06):
Saturday and Sunday, the sixteenth andseventeenth against Texas, the twentieth against Ontario,
twenty third and twenty fourth at SanJose, twenty ninth and thirtieth versus
San Diego. That's what we got. That's off the top of my head.
I think I think you hit it. I did. I'm pretty sure
I know I did. Yeah, because you did, because I'm freaking going
down the stretch here, Johnny. It's playoff time. Is we're jocking for

(46:29):
playoff position? Oh? Yeah, yeah, it's it's tough in this late
stage of the season because, yeah, we guys still get through it,
but I think everyone's just juiced forthe playoffs, not getting through it.
Every every game, every day isa day to prepare and get better.
Yeah, we're not just trying toget through it. There's no grind.
Every day is a day to toget better, ready to get better,

(46:52):
Ready to get better every day,Johnny, So you were kind of wanted
to do more of a easy Sundaypodcast versus an overreaction podcast after the game
because you're going out tonight? Areyou still going out? Where you think?
So? Where are you going? And one's at the hut right now?
Where can we find you? I'mgoing to I'm going at the huts.

(47:13):
Just depends if everyone else is stillthere. Act just got it.
Yeah, just got checkt from JustinLittle, one of our sales representatives,
that he's in line right now atthe hut. So how bad does it
suck? You go? Out andyou have to wait the freaking line to
get the bar to go in.You can't even move because it's so freaking

(47:34):
packed. Last like that sucks, and you have to flag down the girl
to get you a drink. Youget your drink. People are paying in
India, there's no chairs, there'sno way to relax. But you got
in and you're out, and itsucks. And that's all you've thought about
all week. And you finally getthere and you're in line for hours,

(47:54):
and then you're finally in the place. It's packed, it's full, you
can't hear anything. You finally flagthe girl down to bring you a drink,
and what's next. I'm asking him? How bad is it? Right
now? That's that's gonna be myterm. And if it's too long,
then yeah, we'll see, bro, because I don't feel like waiting in

(48:15):
a long line. It sucks, man, it does suck. It sucks,
especially on the night like Saturday night. Everybody's out, everybody's everybody's out
Friday night. Sometimes Friday nights aremore busy because people are so people want
to get out once they're done withSometimes Saturdays the more. Let me ask
you this, bro, Okay, how is like, like, how much

(48:40):
better does this sound what I'm gonnapresent to you? Okay, okay,
all right, So you get yourboys, You go to the freaking grocery
store, you buy a case ofbeer, You go to somebody's apartment,
You turn on some music, youturn on the TV, and you just
chill. Oh I do that?Versus versus is paying eight bucks for a

(49:01):
well drink. I don't even knowwhat they cost these days. After after
waiting in line and then you haveto I know, after waiting in line
for hours, you get in,you can't move because it's so packed.
You flag down some girl who wantsnothing to do with you because she knows

(49:22):
that you're gonna get some fruity drink. You're not gonna tip, and and
you're gonna be a nerd tip andyou're gonna be a nerd. You get
the drink. It sucks. Youcan't hear your bros like, why wouldn't
you just buy a case of beer, go to somebody's house, turn on
some music, turn on the TV, and just chill. Now, I

(49:42):
do agree with you. That issomething I do a lot nowadays. I
don't mind just going to a placeand yeah, just getting a case and
and and chilling. Like I don'tmind at all. But sometimes it's nice
to go out and what dance thedance floor. I love dancing. I
love dan I am a dancer.Ever see me at a dancing setter setting,
I am going to be dancing,I know. And it's it's just

(50:05):
fun to to be out with everybody. So I like both. I don't
like. I think bars suck.I just if I'm gonna go, some
sucks which one and the service thepeople are rude and then you have to
deal with the bouncer is going tohave an attitude. I just don't.
And it's not my thing thing,yeah it's not. It's no, it's
not everyone's thing. Again, Idon't. I hardly. I used to
obviously be in college, went tobars and clubs almost every weekend. Nowadays

(50:31):
I'm more of an adult now I'mnot in college anymore. I only do
it once. Everyone, Like I'msaying, like, if you could bro
walk in vip entrance, sit inthe booth, get your drinks, chill,
listen to music, fine, whateverwhatever it takes, but that's costs

(50:51):
a lot money. But the ratrace of waiting in line. Then you
have to flag down the girl withan attitude to bring you a drink after
you've dealt with the pissy bouncer.I just I don't have freaking fun.
I'm getting my car and I'm drivingback to Sabino Canyon. After this,

(51:12):
I'm a fall asleep to Sports Center, eating granola out of the bag and
drinking my thirteenth diet coke of theday. You're going skiing tomorrow, Let
ski ski tomorrow. Ski tomorrow.I'm gonna be getting this podcast ready for
you folks to listen to the momentI wake up. That's the first thing
I'm doing. I'm going skiing todayMount today, technically Mount Lemon, Ski

(51:34):
Valley of Texting my buddy Nick,I will be there. I am stoked,
probably the last day of skiing inArizona for me, because we uh,
we had the road on Tuesday andwe're we're gone for gone for a
week, going back to going backto California. I really hope you enjoy
it. I really hope you enjoyyour ski day, and I'll enjoy my
lazy Sunday. You're lazy Sunday playingvideo games. Oh dude, I've been

(51:57):
playing this new game. It's it'sso addicting. It is so addicting.
It's bad. It's really bad.I don't play video games like that much
anymore, but this new one cameout and I've just been grinding it with
my buddies back at home in Riverside, and it's all right. It's our
way to connect online and still catchup from time to time. So yeah,
I'll probably be doing that once I'mdone getting this podcast out for the

(52:20):
folks. Yep. So we'll seeBakersfield back there. They took a bus
to Phoenix tonight. They're flying outin the morning. We will fly out
Tuesday afternoon directly into bakers Field.Thank you, Jake Wagman, Thank you,
thank you, thank you, thankyou for flying us directly into bakers

(52:42):
Field so we don't have to freakingland at Lax and sit in LA traffic
for four hours and then two hoursto Bakersfields. Gosh, that sucks.
We're gonna land on a direct flightfrom Arizona to Bakersfield. We're gonna leave
it like five forty five. We'regonna gain an hour. We're gonna be

(53:06):
there by six fifteen. Our busis gonna be out front. We're going
to get in it and be atthe hotel in ten minutes. Yeah,
and obviously the less so that's betterfor the team. Better. Bakersfield's not
an easy place to get but ifyou can get a direct flight, direct
flight to Bakersfield. Never heard ofthose ones. Oh yeah, I've flown
it in there a couple times directly. Yeah. Never never. Well,

(53:30):
I guess for me, I've nevergone direct direct, I've flown into Bakersfield.
I've never been in a spot whereI've been able to get their direct
So thank you Jake for changing therest of our flights in a Baker's Field
this year from Phoenix to Bakersfield sowe can go direct, so we're not

(53:51):
sitting in freaking La rush hour traffic. And again, Johnny, it's pro
hockey. Any adversity, anything weface is better than anything ninety nine point
nine percent of the world is dealingwith. But thank you Jake forgetting us
a direct flight into Baker's Field.Shout to Jake. We appreciate always,

(54:12):
always taking appreciated, always taking careof us. We appreciate it. So
we'll playing Bakersfield Wednesday night. Anotherthing we started doing, Johnny when we
play Wednesday, Friday Saturday on theroad, we got to get someplace for
a Friday. We don't leave afterthe game anymore. On a Wednesday night.
We stay at the hotel in thetown, wake up, have a

(54:34):
workout, a breakfast, and anice leisurely drive right versus driving all night
from Bakersfield, Vegas five hours inthe middle of the night. We're gonna
have a nice leisurely drive on Thursday, after good night's sleep, get there
for dinner, and uh, don'thave to drive all night. The fun
one was Bakersfield overtime win and thenbusting to San Diego. Yeah, the

(55:00):
game the next day, that wasThat was fun. Yeah, it was
fun. I've never experienced on theback to back. Yeah. Yeah,
you got to do it on theback on the back to back it if
it's not a back to back too, not have to rush out of town,
go back to the hotel. That'sanother thing we've started doing this year
is not rush out of town ona Wednesday night if we're not playing until
Friday, come back to the hotel, get a good night's sleep, wake

(55:23):
up, have a nice leisurely Thursdaydrive out. Yeah, nothing bad about
that. At all, not goingto skate anyway. So that's we got.
Uh, we got Johnny. Ithink that's uh, that's the trip
we'll be in in Henderson Friday Saturday. Can't wait to see the krack Knowls,
the Mayos and uh look to tokeep going. I don't know,

(55:45):
man. Uh Henderson got shut outback to back games like Colorado this weekend.
We don't like it when teams losea couple before us. I never
liked that. Let's take a lookat this week in the HL because we're
now in third place by points. We have a game in hand on Colorado
coming up on Sunday. We've gotnothing in the division on Monday, nothing

(56:08):
Tuesday, San Diego, Texas,Colorado with Avatur in San Jose, Ontario.
Went all Pacific Division games on Tuesday. Wednesday, San Diego, Texas
to cent Bakers Shield, Colorado withAvatur San Jose a Coachella Valley, good
grief? Could Cochilla Valley's schedule?Just I know, why do they play
all that anymore? San Jose?Could n They've been playing first, they've

(56:30):
been playing San Jose and these oneoffs. Yeah, they haven't even played
a series again. So Henderson afterbeing shut out and back to back games
this weekend on the Ranch doesn't playagain until Friday Saturday. So great,
great, great there they're they're gonnabe gonna be just freaking awesome. I
think that's happened a lot this seasonwhere we're going into Bakersfield bakers Will last

(56:52):
weekend bro totally depleted, like theyhad guys hurt. They they were struggling
like they It was wasn't wasn't agreat spot that they were in. But
that's the ebbs and flows of seventwo game season. I'm glad that we
saw them when we u when wedid, when they were back back with
their game. They've got good goaltending, they're a good defensive team. It
is a great pre playoff matchup forus to go play, measure ourselves and

(57:16):
get better. Yeah, if ifyou're giving us Ontario or Bakersfield for potential
three game series, because you knowit's the first round, which which if
we stay crazy, if we stayin the top four, which we're gonna
right, all three games will behere at this game ex versus all three
being Inachella Valley like last year.Yeah, and of course anything can still

(57:37):
happened. We can still get thattop spot. Yeah, division, we're
still very much in that. Wehave we have a game in hand on
Kachella, Yeah, playing twice, and if we get that, then we
get to watch all these teams battleit out, and then that'll be kind
of that'll be kind of fun towatch too. But we'll just have to
see where we're at. Regardless.Uh, we're ready for the playoffs and
uh, whoever is whoever we're upagainst, bring it on. Twenty three

(57:57):
games left on the regular season, twenty three, Yeah, and I was
forty nine. Yes, yes,I might have said twenty twenty three,
twenty two or twenty three somewhere inthere. It's getting late. It's eleven.
Look at the standings, eleven fiftyeight on Saturday night. How about
us? Twenty three? Okay, twenty twenty three, howk about us?
We're wrapping up the podcast before midnight, kind of we've still got some stuff

(58:21):
to cover. A conversion going onhere at the TC, another one,
another conversion. Do you know what'scoming up next? No clue in Circus
l A, Circus l A.Next week, Circus La, Oh,
Circus circus La, Circus l Ait's spelled it's spelled c I R Q
d U s O e I L, But I just call it circus Ola,

(58:43):
like, okay, circus c IR c U s l A circus
la. So what what is thisour next weekend? Third? But is
this our third or third conversion conversionspecial? Fourth conversion special? Yeah?
When we when we're home doing thepodcast here. Yeah, I'm sure they
just love us. I'm sure theylove me screaming. Why would you go
to a bar, you fool ona Saturday night? Who wouldn't go to

(59:06):
a bar on a Saturday night?I mean it's the time to go out
right now, I mean it's alreadymidnight, but so people there are people
who wait till this time to goout. Did Justin text you back on
how long it is to get intothe hut? Right? So Zoe text
me that there's still at the hut? Justin has not texted me back yet.
So last time I went on aSaturday night was it was not that

(59:27):
busy. It was didn't take thatlong to get in. So I'll be
safe. I'll party just drive withtheir park somewhere uh Toeldo Linas and we'll
see Sal's looking, we'll see it'slooking. How about the Milwaukee Admirals,
by the way, Oh my gosh, that is just what's uh nineteen tonight
nineteen straight wind second second longest inAHL history now and they are nine away

(59:50):
from the all time AHL record.Whilch, You say, like, oh,
that's still a lot of games, but they were on nineteen in a
row. Do you think playing theCentral Division is going to hurt him when
they the conference finals? Not toget ahead of ourselves, not to get
ahead of ourselves, of course, but because you look at the Central Division
and uh, they've gotten better.Grand Rapids has gotten hot. They're Grand

(01:00:12):
Rapids is unbeaten in fourteen in regulation? When did that happen? I know,
we don't see be as it maylike make sense. We're always focused
on a Pacific Division, of course, but sometimes it just kind of knows,
like whoa, when when did thisteam get good? It happened the
same thing happened with Milwaukee. Beforethis win streak, they were second place
in the division. Texas was first, and I think Grand Rapids was third.

(01:00:35):
And then of course Texas has justsorry but just not has played good
lately. You know, they're they'reowing three to three, five one one
in the last ten. They've beenlosing a lot before that, and they're
twenty four to twenty three and two. Gren Rapids of course was playing great,
but yeah, Milwaukee was kind ofa little bit far behind it.
They got a bit of a slowstart. They were like five hundred halfway
through. Yeah, and they justnineteen straight. Is just crazy to think

(01:01:00):
that's how long of a how howmany weeks worth of games is that they
haven't I don't think they've lost intwenty twenty four, Yes, that is
probably for sure. Correct, Let'sfind out the last time Milwaukee lost the
game. I don't think they've lost. I would not be shocked twenty twenty
four, because how many games havewe played since twenty twenty four? I
mean, I don't think we've nowplayed nineteen games since twenty Now you getting

(01:01:22):
carried away, all right? LastMilwaukee loss? Oh here it is.
They lost four to three to rockfor January twenty fourth. Oh wait,
no, no, no, no, no, bro, what are you
doing? They lost four to threeto Rockford on New Year's Eve. They
haven't lost in twenty twenty f whichwhat am I looking at? Oh?

(01:01:43):
Sorry, I was looking at theone you had highlighted. Yeah, their
last loss New Year's Eve. Fourto three to Hartford, I'm sorry,
four three to Milwaukee. I'm sorry, four to three to Rockford, four
to three to Rockford. I'm tryingto read that New Year's Eve. I'm
tired. You're you're your head islike bobbing in, trying to look trying
to read it. We're trying toread either of us are being successful.

(01:02:06):
That's uh. I think that mightbe it, Johnny, I thought I
had one more thing. In regardsto the road trip. We thank Jake
for flying us straight into Baker's field. Oh gosh, I love you,
Jake. You're unbelievable. You're thebest travel guy ever. Brady never threw
us. Brady never flew us intoBaker's field. Jake does. That's what

(01:02:27):
we're basing this on. Plus Jakeis that's amazing. Shout out to Jake,
Jake, and shout out to Bradycalling all the successful offside challenges up
with the Seattle cracket. Everything's justgreat. Everything's great. Everything's great here
