Speaker 1 (00:01):
I love what you're talking about. Like you've seen some
diys go wrong, and you've seen some diys go right,
and you were saying, like lean in to experts and
like get good information. So I would love for you
to give us just like a quick since you have
this amazing book, Create your Dream Home on a Budget.
It's amazing, Like I said, everyone who is wanting to

(00:21):
create their dream home on a budget. This is literally
your bible. You need this. So what are just some
quick easy like how two steps? Like if you're going
to list off just a few and you do all this,
the book is this. So if you're going to give
us a preview of how to create your dream home
on a budget, what would be some of the top

(00:42):
tips that you that are just essential? So first off,
figure out what you love. Now, if you're creating a
space to sell it or something you know that's different,
you can look at the trends and all that. But
if you're just creating something you love for yourself, what
do you love? What do you what are you to
peace and joy? And it makes you feel like a
space is truly home. So lean into that and look

(01:04):
for ways to create that. And it may just be
as simple as functionality, like having a home and a
place for every single item and allowing your space to
feel uncluttered and not chaotic. That may be as simple
as that. Or if you want to create maybe a
tile your bathroom or put some new flooring down and

(01:26):
something like that, then figure out, you know, one, what's
our budget, what can we afford here? Is this something
that we need to bring in a professional? Like, is
this so far out of our realm our comfort level
that we need to hire a professional because you know,
there's some things that they are worth bringing them in on.
And then for everything else, just jump in and figure
it out. Like I promise, it's it's doable. Everything is

(01:50):
figured outable. Everything. So if you want to put in
some tile, a backslash is a great place to start
because it's a very simple project and you know, pretty
straight live a whole lot of cuts you have to make,
So that would be a great place to start. If
you're doing tile flooring. LVP is a really easy flooring
to put down that's very durable. There's so many ways

(02:11):
that you can jump into projects without you know, building
an entire house. What is something that someone might be
super overwhelmed with to start, like start this project. They're like, oh,
I'm just it's too big for me. Like where where?
So you're saying like backsplash, Like start with a backsplash,
like start with things. What feels overwhelming, but it's actually
not when it comes to doing house. I mean, I

(02:34):
think tire work. Tire work feels very overwhelming, but it's
really not. It's a very simple process, but it can
feel it takes time, you know, because you gotta put it,
let it dry, and go back and grout it white
patrick grout and the cuts. You know, it can feel overwhelming,
but it's not once you get into it. But I
think with any project that you're going to do it,
it's more important to spend more time researching than it

(02:57):
is to actually do the project. So it's better too.
Like Daniel felled the trees on our property, which is
just a technical word for cut down the trees on
our property, so we end never cleared land before he
asked that he had never done that in his entire life.
He went on YouTube. I don't even know how many
hours that boy spent watching videos on how to cut

(03:17):
a tree down, and once he felt confident and once
he felt like he understood, he went out and he
bought all the proper equipment, like the safety protection stuff
to make sure he was protected, and then he went
out and put what he had learned into practice. So
instead of just jumping into it and running out there
with a chainsaw, taking the time to really research and
know what you're getting into is so so important. And

(03:41):
along the way you might figure out like, hey, this
is too much for me, or you know, I may
need to ask my friend that's a contractor, or my
other friend huts wallpaper in or whatever. You know, I
might need more resources here. But taking the time to
be properly prepared will save you so much heartache afterward
and headache
