Speaker 1 (00:04):
What's up you guys are listening to the Velvet Edge podcast.
I am here with the breakout star of Mary Cavalary himself,
Jay Cutler. Do you want to say how do the people? Hi? People?
I thought you would for sure say hey, y'all too
too predictable. Yeah. So I'm assuming most people already know this,
but you were a quarterback in the NFL for twelve years, correct,
(00:26):
and you've recently retired, So I kind of want to
know more about what does a day in the life
of Jay Cutler look like? Now? God, you're selling Kristen. Um. Well,
it's been we've it's been almost it's been a year
now officially, I mean, yeah, what meant this January? It's
(00:48):
been a year in a month. Um, so many things
have I guess things have kind of morphed a little bit.
You know. When I first got done, it was just
there's a lot of hanging out. It's a lot of
hanging out, kind of figuring out what I wanted to do.
And now there's still a lot of hanging out. So
it's just a day full of hanging out. Yeah, hanging
(01:10):
out with the kids, taking these kids to school. Um,
I think I probably been working out a little bit
more now, Okay, I like this, playing basketball a couple
of times, three times a week. Okay, where do you
do this? C p A in the morning, six in
the morning with a good group of guys, aggressive six
in the morning. Yeah. Um, been doing a lot more hunting.
(01:33):
Just got back from duck hunting in Arkansas with somebody's Okay,
I have this on as a question later, I mean hunting.
I'm sorry, I guess this is really like killing your
This is myke It's really bad for my podcast. It's
the jacket. Otherwise, it's fine. Can we just use the mic?
(01:55):
Can we just use the mic? Audio? So go back
to your sorry. I wish I remembered I thought Stephen.
I thought Stephen wasn't going to do this. Actually, yes,
I mean, you know what, I might keep this in
and I might tell the people that were actually filming
for Very Cavalry at this moment. I don't know why
you wouldn't. I think that's a great point. So that
(02:16):
was one of the producers interjecting that Jay's beard, it
was a it was a there was a mike issue.
I don't know. I think he just wants to get
on camera. Ant we were talking about hunting, and honestly,
like I wish that I cared more about that topic.
It's not really my area of expertise, but I would
like to know, like what is your favorite kind of hunting?
Because I feel like you're really into this. Yeah, well
(02:38):
I went elk hunting in September, Like that was the
first one I was able to go in September. Is
this what you do in Montana? Okay? This is like
your thing? Um? And that was that was amazing because
you got there during the right and like they're all
doing their thing. But this duck hunting thing, it was
new to me. I've never really done that, and that
(02:58):
is it's real. It rivals out kind of anything from me.
Why tell me more? Um, I can't believe I asked
you that, But tell me tell you more. So you
basically like you're sitting these big blinds on the water
and they're glorified houses. Like there's benches, like they had
a heater in there, they had like a griddle. They're
(03:19):
making breakfast. Who's making breakfast? The guys that had one?
So like there's like eight of you in there, and
there's these holes in top of the blind. This is
like a girl's version of a slumber party. Yeah, kind of.
Do you guys pill a fight? No, we don't, okay,
And so like you can talk, you can hang out
breakfast and then like whenever they start seeing ducks fly
(03:41):
by or something like, you know, you just pop back
up there and you just fire off and start shooting ducks.
So it's different than like deer hunting. Aren't you like
sitting in one of these I'm just sitting in a
tree stand just for two days, just being really quiet.
So a duck you're like going more like a social event. Okay,
are you thinking like is this like a fun time?
(04:02):
I'm sure you could drink, but we didn't have any
alcohol at the point at that day. Well it was
like six in the morning. That would be a little aggressive,
but I'm sure guys hunt in the afternoon might have
a few if you see us, but you are you
do have firearms too, so it's kind of you want
to be safe. Well, so you keep yourself occupied. It
(04:23):
sounds like with some hunting those or hobbies, like has
that been a hard adjustment, because I feel like football
is a pretty intense schedule, right, Yeah, I mean there's
just there's a lot of downtime now and you can
only hunt so much, you can only work out so much,
you can only watch deer cams, Semich, you can only
hang out so much. Um, and you have three kids,
(04:44):
so that keeps you busy, but like yeah, but they
also drive you insane, right, so you need something else. Yeah. Interesting,
So that's kind of where things stand now, finding like
what can I do that's not that taxing, right, not
of where I'm like as busy, busy as Kristen, okay,
(05:04):
but something that can fill a little time. Yeah, because
like no matter what I do, I'm not going to
replace like football, Like that's what you can't I mean
I did that for some six or seven so that's gone.
Like I'm not going to find another passion that's the same. Yeah,
it's not the stage. It is like the transition period. Yeah,
(05:26):
And like it's so interesting because like the football life,
like I was thinking about, like I met you obviously
from your time at Vanderbilt and that like just in
college in general, it's like a full time job having
to play football, right, Like you've had this pressure on
you since that time of your life, which is very
different than the rest of us, Like when I was
(05:49):
in college, I was just worried about like partying and
like going to class sometimes like things like that, what
does that feel like? Um, well, I mean so all
I've really known? Yeah, you know, so like I didn't
really know anything differently, I played football, basketball, and baseball
since I don't know, five, six, seven years old. So
(06:09):
like it's just like this is more of a different
I guess realm in my life than than than the latter. Yeah,
because you just don't you never did anything different, Like
did you feel that pressure though in college at times? Um,
but I don't think it ever was like overwhelming or
yeah what I couldn't deal with? Okay, But like then,
(06:32):
like you, so you go pro and you're young and
you make a lot of money at a young age,
which is also really weird for the rest of us,
Like at that point, do you feel like stresses? What
are you doing? You? She wants to be in on this,
so it's not she's she's poking her head and like,
(06:57):
let me talk. She tested the mic levels with me.
I think just wanted to hold the night. But we'll
go back to the question, like, um, when you were
I mean, so you had all these pressures and stuff.
Then you go to Chicago and it's like that was
like a big I feel like you've got a lot
of negative like like I don't know how to you
handle that. Yeah, Chicago is a different it's kind of
(07:19):
a different animal. You know, there's New York has two teams.
Chicago is a big, huge market as team you know,
and there, and there weren't any teams in l A
at that point, so I felt like Chicago was a
huge market like kind of the whole time I was there.
And uh, you know the fans and the fans are great.
I mean you if you go out in the streets
and talk to the fans like like they get it,
(07:40):
like they understand what's happening. Um, very smart. But I
mean the papers, and I think I hit a time
like whenever kind of news papers are dying a little bit.
Um Internet was kind of taking over, Um, ESPN, Fox
and hews like all those stations were kind of doing
their thing and and people were just aking on. You know,
(08:01):
no one was getting the paper. So I think you
kind of hit that that sweet spot where you know
they have they have to write, you know, whatever they
can write to get things out there and get people
to read it, people's attention. Yeah, I mean some of
it was deserved. Someone wasn't deserved, But that's kind of
how it is. So the fans themselves were actually not
bad to you. It was mostly the press, Yeah, it was. Yeah,
(08:22):
And I think that probably goes for most NFL cities.
I mean, the fans like they're in it, they understand
um and and I think a lot of them are
probably they've watched football a little bit longer than some
of these in general anyway, so they have better feel
for the game. So like when people would say stuff
(08:43):
like I remember reading people being like he's emotionless, like
he doesn't care. Did you care? I mean if I
didn't care, I wouldn't have I would quit, Like I
wouldn't have put in the time and the effort to
what it takes to to do it. Um, what do
you think people were interpreting like just facially oppressions are Yeah,
I mean I know that after like two hasn't ten?
(09:04):
Doesn't let it twelve? Like if we had a Fox game,
like there was basically a camera like dedicated to our
sidelines that were kind of following me and some of
the other guys around like just to see how we
would interact and stuff. So it got to be a
little bit of a thing. But you know, all I
really cared about was playing football and trying to win
football games. So after you left Chicago, like, did you
feel a little beat up just from the press and
(09:25):
stuff or like were you kind of happy to be
retired at that point? No? I don't think it never
really got to that point. Like I was always able
to to separate, you know, the difference in work and
when I left the building, like it was, I didn't
think about it. You know, we had guess we had
all three kids by the time we were done, and um,
you know you walk in the door and that's they
(09:46):
don't care, That's the last thing that on their minds.
So UM, I always felt like I was able to
kind of compartmentalize a lot of it and just keep it,
keep it away. What made you want to go back?
Like when my Amy called, um, I still felt like
he play. Um. I just wanted, you know, I wanted
(10:06):
to be in a different situation. We had a few
teams called like right as soon in March, as soon
as I was let go by Chicago, but they just
jumping into just jumping from one ship to the next ship,
like you didn't didn't really interest me. I kind of
wanted to process some of it, think about it and
decide whether I still wanted to play or not. And
that summer give me a lot of time. And then
(10:28):
when Adam called, you know, I knew him and I
knew a lot of those guys from being in Chicago. Yeah,
so I knew that. You know, at the end of
the day, if we won game in the lost games,
that would it would be a good experience being done
with him. Yeah, okay, so you got okay, you were
going to go to Fox and you like have this
family at home. Did you feel better about that career,
like being able to balance that with like your family
(10:50):
and Kristen and everybody working for Fox. Um, I was,
I mean I took it well. I was kind of
torn on it because it's still it's still sixteen weeks
to travel, is it really? I mean every game is away.
Game didn't realize. So you leave Thursday night or Friday
morning and you're gone until Sunday night or Monday morning,
(11:11):
So you know, it's a four day commitment for sixteen
straight weeks, which didn't really fire me up, um, because
it was more travel than I did playing obviously Monday
through Thursday year off. But I mean it's still it's
still quite a bit. Yeah, And that's why I had
a lot of hesitations after Miami of getting into that because, um,
(11:33):
you know, and during the fall, like I wanted to
l Cohn, I wanted the Deer Hunt, I wanted to
go to Montana. There's a lot of things I wanted
to candom. Was gonna start playing soccer in the fall. Um,
you know, there's just things that I was like, you know,
let's let's just take a year and then see what happens. Yeah, Chris,
and and I'll talk about that sometimes. Like you never
had in August just off training camp, and this is
(11:55):
my first. This is my first August I've ever had.
Just hang out and see what August is. Like. I
kind of liked it, like August, Like I mean honestly
with football, like you kind of missed some of the
best months, like October. It, yeah, I'll get some Tumber October. Um.
So it was it was cool to be here and
like kind of kind of enjoy that Halloween. You know,
(12:17):
you go to the kids on Halloween that Um, Thanksgiving,
Like I've played on Thanksgiving before, you know, traveling on Thanksgiving.
So Christmas, we've played anything on Christmas or traveled on Christmas.
So just being around for those times was was different
but fun fun. Okay, let's talk about relationships stuff, like
(12:38):
how how was it first of all, balancing a relationship,
three kids and I really high pressure job. Um, I
mean I think that's probably for christ and like Kristen
balanced it. I just I just showed up what a
nice life. So like if she wasn't probably is tough
(12:59):
and and and caring as she isn't. I mean I
didn't do anything. Yeah, I would literally because I mean
there's I think there's so much going on in football
and like you're so wound up in the week that
you know, and the kids were young, kids were super
young still, so like she had to take care of them.
She was doing her job. Um. So I mean she's
(13:19):
the one that kept that ship afloat. How is it
different now? Oh it's changed a little bit. Um. You know,
I think I do probably more than like day to
day stuff because she's so busy with her job. Yeah,
you refer to yourself as the nanny and the house
manager now correct? That is that is correct, and I
am both of those things. Tell me about those jobs,
(13:42):
those roles. That's why I need to find another job. Okay,
we're tired of this. Do you feel like being retired
as affected your marriage at all? Like, how has that
affected it? Um? Yeah, I mean just finding a different roles.
I think it's you have made your changes like that,
and I think Kristen has probably had just as much
change as I have totally her job. You meet. So
(14:06):
I think when you combine those two storms, if you will,
at the same time, it's there's definitely um things you
kind of have to wade through and figure out. And
you know, because because it's not easy, man, it's probably
a little bit easier for her because I mean she's
doing exactly what she wants to do. She's excited about
it and and doing and doing and doing very well. Um,
(14:27):
you know, I'm the one that's kind of has to
figure out, you know, what I want to do and
where I want to go next. Do you have any
ideas you want to share right now? Um? I don't know,
like getting back doing the broadcasting thing. I more of
like a half schedule or something. It would be interesting. Um,
getting into maybe I don't know, I don't want to
(14:52):
say coaching or consulting, but like go into some camps,
some training camps or some mini camps and kind of
helping out some of the guys that I know around
in the league. Um, would be fun. We've been kicking around,
doing kicking around an idea of doing like a butcher
shop somewhere in Franklinton. You've been talking about that for
years because you were still talking about that when you
needed a football. Yeah, what would that be? Something really small,
(15:15):
I mean feet or something. Um, and then sourcing like
grass fed beef from somewhere. I mean I would want
to keep it somewhere in Tennessee. If we could a
couple of pigs, some chickens, and like you know, getting
getting hold of animals and whatever we get that week.
You know, when we sell out, we sell out. Its
(15:37):
depending Yeah, like turn of like what we could get. Obviously,
if someone wants to order something, we'll try to we'll
try to source it. But something really small. UM, getting
Mike involved, kind of letting him, you know, if he
wants to smoke some meats or hang some meats. Um,
Mike is who works with Kristen on all her cook
He's amazing. And then eventually maybe Thursday, Friday, Satday something
(16:00):
having like lunch and having him make sandwiches and just
seeing where we can go with it. But um, something small,
just see what happens. Have you thought about being a
matchmaker as a profession, Um, I feel like you might
be really good at that. I think, what are we
good at it? Okay? I like the confidence, there's a
(16:22):
there is a but though, Um, I think some people's
expectations are a little bit skewed. People doing me me.
We haven't went down that road yet, but I think
most people's expectations are a little bit lofty. And I
don't know if I want to be the bearer of
bad news, like every time you're like, hey, listen, like
(16:44):
I don't know if that's in the cards. Maybe we
should just say, like we all can't find somebody with
abbs six ft four has a million dollar job, and
like that those those people that are out there, I mean,
obviously hopefully you can find one, but um, most people
(17:07):
I think are just pretty normal. Also, would like to
clarify that is not the description of what I'm looking for.
What is the description of what you're looking for put
me on the spot. I don't chill. I mean I
always say to you, I just want someone who's like
my partner, right, that kind of meets me have way,
who has their own stuff going on, who is not
threatened by what I have going on. But if he's
(17:27):
like a struggling artist, well, okay, you always throw out
these descriptions that are like amazing, I'm like, where are
these guys like Arlon Artison has no money? Like you
have to you have to, I mean, okay, Like, I
don't think I would not be upset if I made
more money than my partner, So I'm not out for that.
(17:48):
But I also don't want like a freeloader. What if
he's amazing on every other not getting he was like, hey, listen,
like this is my my past action. I love it.
Like if if I have to give this up and
get a breather job, like I'm gonna lose who I am. Okay,
but if he's so amazing, why isn't he selling some
(18:10):
of these pieces of art? Well, he thinks he's amazing, Like,
it doesn't mean the rest of the do I think
he's amazing. It's the question, you support his passion. Let
see if I can be supportive of someone's passion if
it's selling, well, it's like you've got to I do
want like a driven person. Well, he's very driven, like
(18:31):
he's cranking out art work. But if it's the way
you described him, it's terrible, doesn't mean he doesn't love it.
I'm conflicted. Oh my god. On that note, I think
I'm gonna move on to the fan questions. I do.
I do think you should think about the match. Any
thing people don't know about you, that you're very like
perceptive and and who it is. It's a very good
(18:51):
skill set. Um okay. So I asked a bunch of
my followers on Velvet's Edge what they wanted to know
about you, and I got some mixed questions. Question for you,
are what percent of these followers are women? Like a
very high person. I mean for sure probably, I would
maybe even go as far as to day and the
(19:12):
rest are gay? Oh okay, So let's say ninety women
five the other five includes the gays. So we've got
five percent mail Um okay. Well, Chris and will probably
want to hear this, but they said, who runs your instagram?
If Jay has an Instagram. It's hilarious. The question from
(19:34):
the fans is who runs Jay's Instagram? Like it's a mystery?
Was either? But people ask me this. I guess I
don't really talk about it. My hobby. Would you like
us to make the big reveal? Runs it? Why are
you looking at me like that runs it? No one
can hear me a microphone, Christen does. It's so I'm
not happy about it. I'm not happy to get me.
(19:58):
Is this a joint effort by any means that? Like? What?
Sometimes I'll ask him for a caption, like what would
you say in this situation? So your participal collaborative effort? Collaborative?
I like that. Jay. Do you even know how to
log into your Instagram? I don't know the password? Okay,
so we'll get We'll give Casey the credit here. I
(20:19):
couldn't log in if I had to. Yeah, you logged
in one time on my Yeah one vein ran away.
You gave me the phone away, and you wanted to
make a post about it. So she didn't even log
into his own and so she logged and gave me
the phone and I did you post? You knew how
to post? Christian? I mean it please for someone to
(20:41):
help me find Vain and you found him. Thank god
for the social media. Um, this is kind of a
little bit going back to the matchmaking thing. One girl asked,
what are your tips for boss women dating out there?
What do you think about the whole men are intimidate
about strong women? Think? I did not submit this question,
although it sounds from Kelly Love Kelly, Kelly, what do
(21:05):
you think about that? I think you talked to me
about this a lot. Um repeat the question. There's two
parts to this question, what are the tips for boss
women dating out there? And then what do you think
about the whole men are intimidated by strong women thing?
Do you find truth in that? I'm sure I'm sure
some I'm sure some men are. Why do you want
(21:27):
to say something? I'm sure some men are, right. I mean,
I like, I'm just righting the wave, like let's thinking
of it called the money. I'll just kind of hang
out and do what I want to do. Yeah, I
just want to. I mean that's not too much to ask. Um,
but listen, like, if if you're with if you're the
guy that's intimated at what you do, like find a
different guy. Yeah, I agree with that wholeheartedly. That's not
(21:50):
the right question for you know, especially like early on
if they're like if they want if they're trying to
pressure you and do something that you know you don't
want to do professionally and you really like what you do,
and then that's not the right guy. What about just
actually dating there, Like, do you think that men, like
if you are men were attracted to women who kind
of need them and like you know, would be supported
(22:13):
by them versus someone who seemingly can take care of herself.
Because I think there's both. Okay, I think there's both,
and that's that's and that's why it's dating, Like that's
the the guys that want someone that's needy and someone
that's you know, needs them, like that's what they're probably
gonna find, and vice versa the other way. And if
(22:33):
I mean the women out there, like you just find
somebody that appreciates that you work and appreciates that you know,
you're doing what you want to do and you're passionate.
Whatever it is, was that attractive in Kristen to you,
Like she kind of already had her own stuff going on. Yeah,
Kristina was between like she was just thinking She's probably not.
(22:56):
She'll probably deny this, but like at that point, like
she was tired about it, like she was like I
want she was like I want to get out. You know,
she kind of wanted the thing about moving to Chicago,
like I was trying to get her to come to Chicago.
Family there too, Yeah, she has family there. I mean
she was always doing work and doing stuff. But um,
she wasn't the uncommon James version of Kristen that we know,
(23:17):
not at all, not at all. And you know she
got pregnant when she was young. But Kristen and take
everything back, I guess at this point, but like she
was always always extremely driven and like there was no
there was no way like she was going to just
(23:38):
hang at home and take care of the kids and
not explore, you know, things that she wanted to do.
She obviously were attracted to that. Then Yeah, yes, I
mean it was um yeah, I mean she brought a
lot to the table. This one sounds like it was
submitted by Christian Kristen, what do you love most about
your wife? Where to God? It was people want to
(24:01):
know that, people want to know. Um, I think it's
probably is like she can balance both of those worlds
really seamlessly being able to raise three kids, Like I
went to Miami for five months and she still was
(24:22):
able to raise three kids, you know, put together she
had a shoe line then like things were coming with
the jewelry line. Um, I think I got back from
and she was putting together the show. So like she
was able to do all that while you were in Miami.
Just saying just living a life on the beach, you
really did when you were in Miami, Like because during
(24:43):
the week, what did you do? I went to work
and then how many hours a day though Monday Tuesday's
like Monday's Tuesday and off day Monday. There for a
couple of hours Thursday out of five Friday at it
like twelve one o'clock. I got living her best life. Yeah,
but they, I mean they came out a lot. Okay, okay, okay, okay,
(25:06):
this is our fans get a little. They're really into you.
What's your biggest turn on in? It's so weird asking
this kind of stuff. I mean, I think when I
met Kristen like like like just her probably just like
I think anybody like their lying basically if they say
like attraction, like you know, how they look. You're right,
(25:28):
that's it has to be there. Of course, it has
to be there. Can I remember whenever I first met
Kristen it was in uh, we were in it was
after a preseason game. She actually had dark hair at
the time, what like brunette, like my color. Not not quiet,
but it was it wasn't the blonde that you all like.
She had it maybe low lights, but a lot, but
(25:50):
a lot of it was almost it was almost brown.
I'm shocked. I never knew her in those days. Yeah,
and she was thinking about getting out of the l
a like a whole different, whole, different side that you
don't know. But she were obviously physically attracted to her
for sure. She had on either a white shirt and
like blue blue shorts or vice versa. Okay, but yeah,
(26:16):
I mean she was just naturally beautiful, So like that
was the first first attraction. And I think if that's
not there, then yeah, we're probably not going to move forward,
don't you think? With Christens and she has like a
natural confidence, like I think a lot of guys say
that that's really really attractive to Um. Yeah, I think
(26:37):
that's true. Um, here's another question, what did you learn
in that g Q article, tell us, Um, I think
Christmas is already told all. I don't think she gives
specifics of people were asking. I mean, if you feel
like you need to keep that between you two, then
I mean there's some things you got to keep secretive.
So does that go for this next question, which is
(26:59):
I mean, I don't even know if I want anyth
answer to this, but what's your favorite sexual position? Um?
I think we experiment with many different ones. Okay, so
a variety. Yeah? Is that what your're saying? Keep it
keep it? Yeah, I mean that's for so long, like
you have to you have to mix it up a
little bit, don't my ears? Like you're the one that
(27:23):
put all this stuff out there in the first place.
Do you want to come tell us about the g
Q article already staid it on national television. I'm why
are you going at me? So you're very sweet? What
was it? Very innocent? Sweet? Way? What is your favorite position?
I'm not all of a sudden like she's Saint Theresa
(27:49):
now like hodest a company. Now, you guys have been
married for how many years? Though? Going on not no, sorry,
going on six? You do have to keep it a
spicy like shake things up a bit. Yeah, we've I mean,
no one since hasn't ten. Wow. Yeah, it's a variety
that makes a lot of sense to me. Actually. Um okay,
(28:09):
so you have type one diabetes and someone asked, what
is it like living with that as an athlete? Did
it change a lot of stuff for you? Yeah? Definitely,
And I think me and Kristen change even more for me. Um,
because I mean as I got it in gosh doesn't nine. Yeah,
So I was how onld am I now I was
(28:33):
almost twenty six, I think, um, and like I was
just eating, like basically like a young college kid to
be like just eat whatever you want to drink all
the time. Yeah, like just no conscience at all, Like
what you put in your body is gonna affect you.
So once that happened and just carbs and sugar, like
you just start you start thinking more and more about that.
(28:56):
And then when I met Christen in um it doesn't ten. Uh,
you know we really started you know, well at first,
like she was just kind of eating whatever kind of
with me. Kristen, how much weight did you gain? She's
oddly absent, right, what how much weight did you gain?
When we when we first started hanging out, you guys,
(29:17):
eight pounds okay, but on my little frame, that's a lot.
I just ate like ships. I was like, I'm not
gonna be that girl that's like I don't eat this stuff.
And then yeah, he likes me fat though, let's be honest,
he likes me pleasantly pump junk in the trunk. So
it came came to a head where she's like, okay,
(29:38):
like this is not kind of how I eat um.
So then you know, she's started introducing me to you know,
less carm whole foods, like yeah, risk different stuff like that.
And then before we had Camden, we did a lot
more research on you know, food and health and everything
(29:58):
else and gut um, your immune system and like just
how everything kind of comes together. And that's whenever I
think things kind of took off and we went down
the rabbit hole and turned around for you with like
hell yeah, and you know, and now my insolent levels
are you know, I don't take as much insulin insulin,
I feel better, I sleep better. My numbers are been
(30:20):
really good. So is that's how it works with diabetes?
Like you whatever, if your insulin levels are high, that's
you have that pen you carry around like everything. If
you as soon as you eat food, um, you know,
your body starts breaking down carbs and sugar, and insulin
delivers that to your muscles and your brain and stuff
like that. But without insulin in your body, you know
(30:41):
you're just gonna pee all that stuff out. Your body's
gonna start shutting down. So every time I eat, I
pump insulin in and that delivers everything all over my body.
But as soon as you start eating a lot of
carbs for years and years and years, um, you know,
your your body is going to start to come a
(31:01):
little bit immune to the insul and you're putting in.
So you're going to put it in if you like
five years ago, if you put in three units, you
know ten years down the road, like you might have
to put in twelve units to cover up the same
piece of bread. So your body starts to figure it
out like, hey, like this isn't natural. So you want
to kind of keep your insulin levels down, your insolent
(31:22):
usage down as much as possible, and the only way
to do that is to eat less carves and less sugar.
So now that you've changed your diet, you're using way
less insulin. But the problem is, like you know, the
medical field and pharmaceuticals, like they're just they just say, hey,
just put in some in your body and then you'll
be fine. More insulin, more insulin, more insulin. Where that's
(31:44):
that's fine for a short period of time, but eventually
it's gonna catch up to you. Um Okay, what's your
Netflix go to? Mm hmmm mm hmmmm umcision. I know, well,
I mean it changes like I of binge watch what
are you currently binging? Um? God? What it is? Like friends?
(32:04):
And I think it's called like friends from college and
I have nothing about this king. I think it's like
these guys from these group of guys and girls from college,
but now they're out of college and like one of
them is cheating on it's just kind of their lives
in New York maybe or something like that. It's funny,
it's good. Watched Its Creek. I watched like three or
(32:26):
four episodes of it. You couldn't get into it. I
don't know, like I see I watched some of these
shows and then some I get caught up in doing
something else and I forget about it. But I saw
it on my like recently played things and I was like, oh, yeah,
I clicked on it, and yeah, I do need to
get back because I think it was funny. I laugh
out loud, And I feel like you appreciate the same
(32:46):
kind of game, So I think you would like it. Um,
And I feel like at my phone. But there was
a bunch of them recently that I've watched so friends
from college. I think that's what it's called interesting watching
the Ted Bundy thing to now. Oh I heard that's
like very dark, very dark. Um. I didn't know much
(33:06):
about it going into it, but I mean this guy
was the piece of work. Well yeah, I guess all
serial killers are, but yeah, but he was like charismatic
and like charming. Wasn't he kind of attractive? Yeah, he's
a good looking dude. Oh my god. That's scary as
ship a girl out there dating. See, maybe you should
start like a match making p I service. You're gonna
(33:28):
be background checks. But I don't think serial killers like
go one day and so they just kind of snatch
you up on the way to your car. I feel
like you would know, though, like when you meet people,
you have a good radar. Um. Yeah, I mean I
think if you went on a date with Ted Buddy,
I'd be like, hey, I don't think you might want
to see Just don't go anywhere with him. I'm gonna
(33:52):
keep you around. Then. Um, okay, what career would you
have done? A football wouldn't have been an option. This
is kind of what you're having to go through now, right, Yeah,
Like I've I've told some guys like this, like there
was there was never a plan B. Yeah, Like I
never had a plan B. And I told something and
I some of the guys like in college NFL, I like, listen,
(34:14):
if there's a plan B, like plan it is probably
not gonna work out. Do you think that's why you
were successful? Then maybe? I think it's Yeah. I mean
I think there's a lot of things that that lined
up for it, but I think that was part of
the reason. Yeah, I think there was never there was
not another option, had to make it work. It was
gonna work. Yeah, or I didn't think college very seriously,
so like I was all there a football thing. Thank god,
(34:36):
you have a good orm. Um. Okay, do you ever
regret retirement? Then regret it? No? Do I miss it sometimes?
For sure? Like how is football season? Did you watch
a lot of games. I mean Kimmin's obsessed. Yeah, that's right.
So like Saturday and Sunday, like Jackson hates it, Sailor's
in different Kristen watches more than she claims she watches,
(34:57):
probably yeah, but she knows. I mean, I guess after
eight years, like you're gonna have to, You're gonna figure
some stuff out. So she'll watch some stuff with this.
But I mean Cannon's like Saturday and Sunday, he's locked
right here. Yeah, so you're in it for that. Yeah.
So we watched and he he throws the pool back
and forth all day. Yeah. So I mean it was
(35:18):
I mean it wasn't. I enjoyed it. It was fun. Yeah,
it's the right time. Um. So I guess that answer
is like, will you ever come out of retirement? No,
it was you didn't have anything you wanted to tell
us today on the velvet. Okay, Well that's all the
questions I have for you. So I guess people can
tune into if Jay had an Instagram if they want
(35:39):
to keep up with you. Yeah. Oh, also season too
a very cavalaryameless plug March three is that when it starts? Yeah,
are you excited? I mean nervous. I'm not nervous yet.
I think like right before it comes out, I always
starts to over analyze, like, oh, ship, what did I
say to the damage is done? Just done? I know.
(36:01):
Thank god we have an EP in here with us
right now. Hi, are you guys done? Well, we're trying
to wrap up. Did you have anything you wanted to
add to this special podcast? Since you poked your head
in a couple of sounds, I'm good. It's like I
added everything, I mean for Kelly's benefit, Like how did
you know that you were attracted to me? These are
questions come on in there working on my cookbooks, like
(36:25):
podcast real fast. I'm sure that people want to know
this too. How did you know with Jay? I mean,
Kelly's out there in the dating world just trying to
grind it out. Well, it's like that's the whole thing
called chemistrate that you really can't put your finger on,
like you just know. But at the time, I was
really looking for somebody to like sit in the driver's seat,
Like I was sick of being the man in my life,
and so I really wanted like a man who could
(36:46):
take charge. And like you said, overheard you, I was
really wanting out of l A. I was just finishing
up the hills and my life felt very suffocating there. Um,
and so yeah, I really wanted to get out of
l A. Never once said I wanted to stopped working
or anything like that. Definitely said I didn't want to
live in l A. But never like how a shoe line.
(37:07):
And I was like, I was still hosting and doing
a lot of stuff. Yeah, um, just not at the
level you are now, right, or that I was prior
to meeting J right, Ye, did you know the second
you saw him? Are you like, Oh, I knew something
was up. Well, I thought your cousin was like, so
(37:29):
my cousin was obsessed with Jay specifically right bears And Um.
I had told my mom at one point that j
asked me out, and so we were going to a
game and my mom brought it up and my cousin Danny,
was like, he's the man, Like, you're such an idiot.
So we got family passes to meet him after the game,
and I thought like, I was just gonna be cousin
of the year and make my cousin's wife and I
would never speak to Jay ever again. And he walked in.
(37:53):
He was really sweet and he won my mom over,
which I feel like it's drove us to our car
and and Um texted me right after he dropped us off,
and Danny was like, he loves you, and then we
hung out a couple of nights later. Interesting. So when
you know you know it's true what they say, when
(38:13):
you know you know she didn't have dark hair, though
I know I didn't do that a good look for me? Wow,
I mean it wasn't like it wasn't like your color
that I was like trying something new and nobody wasn't
your best look. Okay, I'm glad you're back, blad. I
feel like you switched pretty quickly. Then, Yeah, I think
(38:33):
I happened in a salon pretty fast. Yeah, like try
the whole bolliage thing or whatever, justin molliage. That's the
word you were looking for. I've never heard that word.
You learned something new here today? What does that mean? Like?
I think it was darker and then it got lighter
at the ends. It was actually it was dark and
(38:55):
then it got a little bit lighter. But I have
to tell people that Jay is like but like touching
Christmas hairs, showing me exactly how it was very so
maybe beauties to think about Joe, they're probably not girls. Oh, Barbarshopbara.
I actually actually really could see that. I could too. Actually, yeah,
(39:19):
Jay's Barbaranda his hair so can the people hear me?
I'm worried that I don't know about back and forth? Yeah,
I'm so sorry. People. Please Jay has good hair though
j good. Harry pressed with his hair, so that would
kind of make sense. It's hed crunched. You just recently
had three haircuts, like we should. Truth comes out, Just
(39:42):
be honest. I love when the wife comes in at
the side of my control. It really is right now
the haircut situation. Oh, I see, well we should just
end it there because we don't want to hurt feelings. Okay,
was it for the a show where you filming? No,
let's just end it. She just wants to be done.
(40:05):
Do you like being a reality star? I didn't ask
you that good question. No, you guys know I don't
like being a People don't know though that people don't know.
I mean you this the schedule of filming is not
really your thing, right, that's five star of the show.
Isn't that hard? Then? What what is it? Why would
(40:26):
you want all these people at your house. That's a
you can be honest. Is the trust tree? I'm not
I'm not Actually, I'm not in the trust tree. I'm
not in the trust tree. I'm told nothing. And I
just learned today that we're doing this so true. Yes,
maybe yes, maybe he's so dramatic. I'm not dramatically. This
is the truth. I'm told nothing. I'm not in the
(40:51):
trust tree. Well, I think you're a natural. It was
a big surprise to the world. You're shocked. Yeah, I
was a nerve us to put you on cameras like
this is really let to Chicago. Is like I saw
you in pres press conferences. I mean I was kind
of nervous about that today, like you shut ship down,
you watched press conferences. I just sat a lot of
(41:12):
time watching every week everythingday some stuff like there's no
point in answering it, like let's just get on with it.
What I thought back to my office. No, I must
have asked really good questions because you're very receptive today. Yeah,
(41:33):
I mean it's just so it's a different forum. Yeah,
you're really shot on a podcast, Jay. I think radio
is easy, like radio rights, like reality TV and radio.
I think I think I clarify I did not, Like,
I'm really more forced in this role than anything. Right,
Like the camera just shows up and they're like, hey,
(41:55):
give us some funny stuff and then they leave. Right, Well,
you're good. So there's a lot of pressure, you do
you feel it? You feel it? Okay? Nothing, No, I
really don't. Um, yeah, I'm just kind of like a
sidekick really just Casey's sidekick. Remember that. Huh? Remember that
(42:21):
she's trying to take the man role. Now ever, so
you feel you said everything you want to be about
Very Cavalry. Yeah, I'm pretty clear on that. Okay, Well,
with that said, I think we can we can just
tell the people to tune in on March three for
the new season of Very Cavalry. Also followed Jay on
(42:42):
if had Instagram, how's my how's my instit? You're doing
really well? About to pass me? And how many people
are you? Definitely have over a hundred? Yeah you have,
Like once this was a sensitive Supdart All right, well
she does not want you to pass her. I don't
want you to pass so hundred percent point game one.
(43:02):
I will say. The best post was on Cambo on
that pink Flamingo Floaty jade Jay both. Floaty was epic
if you would put more stuff up and not be
so selfish about your give me content, like I could
only do so much here. This is a team effort.
What IF's I need pictures of you? Though, Like every
(43:23):
time I try to get ature, you're like an influence.
It you want followers or not. I'm content to be
a willing participants to take the pictures halftime, I'm not
even looking. We're all set shots. I just want everyone
s that's not true. He's basically a blogger. I don't
even have the password no. But you're like no, but yeah,
(43:46):
we did the flamingo. That was definitely like that wasn't
you just posing? Like, let's be honest, I mean that
was your posing, But that wasn't just like a candid
Like yeah, for your say, you should said you're an
admit that it was a staged photo. So I think
you should make a goal of like how many posts
(44:08):
you want to get up a week and then know
that like you're gonna have to do some photo shoots.
First of all, I haven't even posted in five or
six days, so it's hard enough out here for me.
If you want your password. Just say the word. We
don't complain. So we're gonna work on some j if
J had an Instagram content. Actually we'll start today and um,
you guys be able to look for podcast. Um Jay,
(44:32):
thanks for doing this. I really appreciate it. Okay, thank
you guys for looking. Okay, by y'all,
