Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to another episode. Oh I tell you what.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
So, imagine my surprise when I'm scrolling through Facebook and
I see a post from Wright County Watch Minnesota's Facebook page,
and I think to myself, huh, somebody who is riding
a horse in downtown Buffalo. I wonder if I know
that person. And I open it up and I realize
it's my brother and it's you. Then I started reading
the comments and what the heck happened?
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Oh? Well, uh, so's he actually has this super awesome,
big Kalamino ranch horse that just does anything everything. And
it's had kind of an idea like let's go down
to the lake in the park and take a few
you know, pictures and some video and and just show
like just how great he is. I mean, this horse
(00:45):
will go anywhere anywhere you point. Ahm, He's going to
do it and not be phased. He's not phased by traffic, nothing.
And he got some really actually beautiful shots at the
sun setting over Buffalo Lake and and just kind of
solder on downtown and it was beautiful out and we
ran into lots of people and people walking their dogs
and stuff, so it was actually really cool. And then
we're all done, and when we were ready to, you know,
(01:08):
just have him jump in the trailer and go home.
And you know, I pulled his bridle off, had the
reins around his neck and was going to put his
halter on, and there's a nice green grass there, and
he put his head down to eat some grass, and
then like my hand slipped and then I was like, oh,
you know, like I scared him. So he kind of
ran away a little bit and ate some grass, and
(01:28):
Shane went chasing after him, and then he just decided
to go on a frolic around the town of Buffalo
and people. Shane went after him on foot, and I
jumped in the truck pulling the trailer, and I'm just
going down road. Shane's cutting cross country through backyards and
stuff and this course is just having the time of
his life. And both of us immediately were like, Highway
(01:50):
fifty five. We got to get to him before he
gets the Highway fifty five. And as I'm driving down
the road, people would like just point what direction I
should go in, And then I saw some people running
and then I saw a car turn around and heading
and decided to follow that truck because he turned on
his flashers right away, and I'm like, oh, he must
be following the horse because I never saw him. And
(02:11):
I yielded Shane to call nine one one, and the
police department was awesome, you know, they were on it
and stayed on the phone with him and and they're
like getting multiple reports of a horse, you know, frolicking
around Buffalo. And then someone said he's heading west on
the train track. So Shane told me to go down
Highway fifty five and just park the truck and trailer
(02:32):
and watch for him. And then there were police cars
blocking the roads and then I saw somebody put their
lights on but no sign run. I'm like, he sees
the horse and he doesn't want to spook the horse.
So I follow the police car and come up to
the roundabout at Holiday and there's a guy and I
have so many questions now because he was awesome.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Did you know what holiday right now? They got a
three dollar meal deal something here?
Speaker 3 (02:56):
How I was too puzzled to even think about it.
But I'm definitely stopping in there because one of the
ladies that worked there posted, you know, somebody came in
and said, hey, did you see the horse out in
the roundabout? And so she posted on Facebook too, and
so I responded to her and I'm like, hey, I
need to stop in and just let you know, remember
that horse. Yeah, that was me that I was the problem. Mom.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
How did you end up? How did you guys end
up actually like getting a hold of him and catching him.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
So he was just kind of so the guy who
caught him, who's this awesome guy from mano Cello and
his wife does a moxie. That's all I know, Okay,
But he was standing there in shorts and he had
either a pair of jeans or a jean jacket, but
it looked like a pair of jeans around his neck.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Did he take his pants off to lassue this horse
with gens?
Speaker 3 (03:43):
That's what I want to know. Like, he was so great,
he stayed with us, he helped us try to load him.
But what he said was, he said he was just
strolling up whatever that road is next to the holiday.
He was just strolling up the road headed for the roundabout,
and he was I think, walking across the street at
the time, and he has horses, and some girl tried
to reach out of a car window and grab the horse,
(04:04):
and the horse kind of jumped away. He's like, hey, hey,
don't do that. And then at some point in time,
either a pair of jeans or a jean jacket appeared,
because I don't even know what it was. So when
I pulled up, he was standing there. Shane was there too.
Shane had had run, you know, was following the horse
on foot, so Shane was already there, and the horse
was just calmly standing in the center of the roundabout.
(04:26):
There's like six police cars, there's people standing on the
sidewalk watching, and he was just like, yeah, this is cool. Off.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
I saw somebody comment and say that he ran through
people's backyards and was tearing up grass.
Speaker 3 (04:39):
Oh my god, you know. And and I don't want.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
The horse or the guy without the pants probably probably.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Probably everyone because people were all in, you know, and
and the horse was just unbothered. He was just grabbing
grass and just out, you know, having the time of
his life, you know. And we're all, you know, worried
about him. So anyway, so pants guy or whatever he was,
you know, I want him to call in because he
was so awesome. He stayed at us, and I'm sure
(05:07):
he had other things to do.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
No, no, no, I think this guy was just standing
around ready to take his pants off the less a.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Horse dance off dance off, pants off.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Horse in therapy.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
Oh, he was. He's totally cool, you know, he was.
He was, you know, he was pretty sweaty, you know,
because he had a good workout and stuff.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
But a little bit about without the pants or the
horse again, that's what we're talking about, both of them.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Okay, so we he was, but he was a little
bit excited, you know, and sometimes and then there's kind
of a crowd and we were trying to get him
in the trailer. He pulled into Perkins and we were
trying to load him up, and he's like, no, I'm
not getting in the trailer. I'd like to stay here this.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Wait, hold on again, Who's who's excited? The horse of
the guy without the pants.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
The guy without the pants was very calm. He was good.
The horse was just a little bit but you know,
he had gone for a run and everything, and there's
a lot of people around and so so he just
wasn't getting in the trailer. At the time. He loads fine,
and I was just like, you know, already embarrassed because
all of this was my doing. And I was like
I looked at you, and I said, you're riding that
(06:15):
horse home, and he saddled them up and he headed home,
and then about yeah, he rode him home from Buffalo.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
This long ride home, ah, it's.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Like three miles. We were probably about a mile from
home and on a side road and it was hitch
dark at that point because we went for sunset photos,
so it's really dark and seeing. You know, he's mad
at me. So he's riding along and he doesn't want
me following him too close, and I told him I
wasn't not going to follow him because he's on a horse.
He has no reflective gear on, no lights, nothing, And
(06:48):
so I'm driving behind him about two blocks behind him
with the flashers on and the headlights on, and he's
up there just you know, ticked off at me, and
then on I don't know, dag Avenue a little bit
past your land. I was like, let's try again, and
he just hopped on the trailer. So he rode the
last mile home and I got a text from Bob
(07:14):
at some point and he's like, everything okay, because he
knew we were going to take sunset pictures, but it
was dark out and we weren't back yet, and my
text back was like, everything's fine. I just left it
at that because I was like, I know he'll find
out eventually, but it's better for home safe before he
finds out.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
I think the best part of the story is the
part you left out. You drove the horse home in
the trailer and you made Shane walk the rest of
the way.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
No, that one mile drive was silent, was very silent.
And then he's like, why are you on your phone?
You know, I don't want you telling your friends about this,
And I'm like, I didn't say anything to anyone, but
my friends are showing or sending me this post of
you riding a horse around downtown.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Yeah, no, it's on the radio, right.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
I just I just really wanted on the record that
I did, in fact keep my mouth shut. I didn't
even tell Bob. I just said everything's fine. And I'm like,
you know, we have some good friends that are like,
right Monty Sheriffs and on the police department. I'm like,
there's no keeping this a secret.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
I know. Yeah, well, you weren't quiet because you've been
on our podcast for the last nine minutes.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
Mary, You're welcome. You know, let's see what today brings.
That's literally I opened my eyes in the morning and
I'm just like, so, what's going to happen today?
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Let's do so with the turtle today.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Oh, we saw a huge turtle on the way there
when we're still happy and I'm looking at it and
I'm like I should move it from the middle of
the road and sayings like it's a snapping turtle. It's
going to bite your hand off. It was huge. And
then he goes there's a guy there. There's a guy.
And I'm like, I don't see a guy. He's like,
there's a guy watching across the road. I'm like, okay, fine, yeah,
(09:03):
I did not help the turtle.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
You are you missed your calling? You should be on
the radio. I mean your daughter does fine. But you know,
if there's a day coming up where she's out, trust me,
I could just give you the mic and go home.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Thank you, okay, talcu later. Happy birthday, Sam, We love you.
Speaker 2 (09:19):

no room for it.
