Speaker 1 (00:00):
Get ready.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
The sarcasm was about to fly out of both ends
on this one. In this episode of I Tell You What, Hello, Hello,
Hey Brad.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
How are you?

Speaker 3 (00:10):
How do you know it's Brad I eversider.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
It was great question.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
I recognize your hat? Cool dude? Are you a? I
don't know the deal? Like, are you hungover? By chance?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I might be okay, because was it like wasn't this
your week, like one of your best weeks of your life?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Might be? Yeah, I mean I can't even believe what
happened last night. I mean also the storybook way they
won this thing exact what I imagine what you're.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Talking about, right, No, actually I was thinking something completely different,
but go ahead.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
It's crazy. I mean, the idea that all of these
pictures that we have would be heard and they would
scrape together this rotation. And then the one guy who
was like hurt all last year and he really never
found it in the regular season and then comes in
and pitches Walker Bullery. He just becomes this machine in

(01:17):
the postseason and and finds it just in time for
us to go all the way and saves the game.
And then there's Freddy Freeman and the his story is
going to be a movie. It's just insane how much
he went through this year to then become like this robot.
This postseason is crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Did you cry? Well it did?

Speaker 2 (01:42):
You?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Really? Good for you? That's cool.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
I know a lot of these guys, and it's just
like it's really neat. I mean, they're they're they're really uh,
they're good guys too, Like this is not a team
full of jerks. We beat them in the first round.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
I don't know anybody like that like that important, which doesn't.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Surprise you, I'm sure, Well, no it doesn't, dude.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
I love the Star Spangled better.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
I was talking about the one last night, not yours,
but anyway, Oh right, but in your rendition, could you
let the guitar solo go a little longer next time?
I'm kind of a guitar guy and I was kind
of hoping for a little.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
More of that almost I thought about it, but I
could see the Jets coming.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Oh oh, so you time that thing?

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
We time it is somebody in your ear, like do
they tell you, like, hey, dude, can you step on
it a little bit here?

Speaker 1 (02:35):
The Jets are going, No, they.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Time you, but there's no that's what's interesting about our
star spang or national anthem, which you know ours is
a tough one. And then there's one like Okay Canada
that you know literally like Barney the Dinosaur.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Well, dude, want to just do that one?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
I should? I should do that one next time as
Barney the Dinosaur.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
You're freaking Brad Paisley. You could do what the heck
you on here? You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (03:01):
I don't believe that for a second.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
But oh and on that note, by the way, because
you are bread pleaser, like if the World Series had
stretched to Saturday night if it did, would you would
you be blown off our event here in Minneapolis?

Speaker 1 (03:15):
You be honest?

Speaker 3 (03:16):
No, I I it's funny because this was discussed. We
think like we we actually look at everything for that
we've loved. It's funny just to show you how we think.
It's like ever since kind of getting involved with the
Dodgers and and becoming good friends with them and having
some crazy experiences and uh, I sang I sang the

(03:39):
anthimate for World Series since then. One of them was
during COVID though, which doesn't count because I literally sang
it from Tennessee for the World series in Texas because
you know, you had to pre tape it. But every year,

(03:59):
especially this year, with the way that the off season
went and some of the things that happened, I had
a big party at the bar during the winter meetings
here with Dave Robertson and Andrew Friedman and a bunch
of the front office, and they were like, you know,
we're going all the way, and I'm like, well, what
are the dates of that? And we literally did look

(04:21):
at the dates of that, and we're like, oh, yeah, well,
let's make sure because actually last year I had dates.
I had like an entire Vegas weekend at the win
on what would have been like games I guess six
and one and two of the World Series, which is
probably when they would ask me to sing last year.

(04:43):
And I was like and after a while it was
pretty clear we weren't going anyway. But this year we
made sure when we were booking things that we were
sort of thought about it. But when this came out
to get to play up there and do this, my
manager said, hey, I just want to give your heads up.
This would be Game seven. But there's also a caveat

(05:05):
this year that they might move the they might move
the World Series up if all the teams are finished
by the nineteenth of Octember. It was really complicated, and
I just said, just let's just do the gig. I said,
they're not going all the way to game but most
World Series don't go to game seven. But sure enough,
you know when it was five nothing yesterday, it was
on my mind.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
You are listening if you're just tuning in to the
first world problems of Brad pays.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
No doubt about it. Well, that's that's the thing too.
It's like you you have to remember, you got to
you gotta do your job. You can't you know, well,
who has the luxury of deciding they want to do
their job? Well, you can go late because of the
World Series.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Did you just go a little late, or you could
do it early, do it at noon, you don't do
the game, do the concert at noon or whatever you're bread.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
By the way, you don't want to be doing a
concert on Game seven of the World Series either, Like
sometimes you really need to think about like douse, that'd
be like somebody going, you know, well the super Bowl
that night, but we're gonna try and sell some tickets.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
There is some truth to that.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
So your new song. It feels like a part two
from Than the Tires, and it's been called a sequel.
So I was wondering, are there any other older songs
you have that maybe you would do another sequel or
a prequel?

Speaker 1 (06:21):
Are you talking about Truck Still Works?

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Yeah, that's a sequel to Whiskey Lullaby.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
King on Bread?

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Do you have a sequel to Whiskey Lullaby?

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Coming out? They're Dead, Sam, that's.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
The funniest thing I've ever heard. They're dead.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Oh, thank you? My part it was her part.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
I'm funny. Sometimes it could be good.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
But like, I'm going to miss her. You know, maybe
he didn't catch any fish and he came home to nobody.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Okay, we'll let him get back to the question the sequel.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
I'm going to miss her as well. That was dumb.
We have life, which is following up Ticks.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
I oh my god, I can't wait.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
Okay, but like on that note my head, because I
actually am a really big fan of Mud on the Tires.
So when I did hear Truck Still Works for the
first time, and then I realized what it was because
I didn't know what I was listening to.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Go ahead, No, you did not. I was in Greg's
office when he played it go ahead, No, I thought.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
It was really cool. How you like it? Obviously, you know,
remind you of mud on the tires, but it's not
like you straight up put it right in your face.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
I don't know, I just liked it.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
What kind of uh? I am kind of curious what
other music people can't expect on the new album. I know,
like Kaya kind of demolished the question.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Said, no, he's got life coming after.

Speaker 5 (07:49):
Tics other than licee and know all that your.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Job is very hard because you have to woman's playing
all morning. But no, I I appreciate that. I kind of.
I was like, when we did this song, it wasn't
necessarily it didn't start out as that, but it did
become the kind of thing where when you have done

(08:15):
so many different topics throughout the course of albums and
years of recording, it starts to be like, well, no, no, no, no,
we can't do that. We did that already, that was
what you call it, and so you look at it
and think, in this case, it was so much fun
and it felt so creative to take this song that

(08:35):
these guys had started that was, you know, doing its
best to not be mudd on the tires and sort
of sort of be like, well, you know this idea
of eventually that truck gets put up on blocks in
the you know, in the barn, and can you recapture
the magic of that both metaphorically and literally, you know,

(09:01):
in the sense that you get the thing running again.
And and if we had a blast, and the trick
with writing it, honestly was how much do you reference
the old and still make this a brand new song?
And we were really careful to make sure that it
wasn't just it wasn't just me winking the whole time.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
That's right. I thought it was really well done.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Well.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
Plus, I mean he's sampling his own song, which I
mean everything. There's a million reasons what he just explained
for that. And he's the only one to not like
sample Toto Africa, which I'm expecting one of the you
didn't hear it?

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Is it in there? Dude?

Speaker 2 (09:37):
When I get a hold of it, it will be so
this uh this Saturday night, dude. Thank you very much
for doing what you're doing. This is really cool. Minneapolis
Hard Institute Foundation. All the proceeds are going to benefit
that a lot of lives are going to be saved
as a result of your awesome work here this this
Saturday night.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
What what are you bringing? Like?

Speaker 2 (09:55):
Is this gonna be mostly bangers and stuff like the
Brad Bangers that we love from back.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
In the day.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
We're going to do a tribute to Paparatti. Oh it's
an opera night.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
That is that is unexpected, but I like it good.
After asking that question, I deserve that answer.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Now it'll be it'll be what you want. It'll be
all the songs you want here. And I mean, I
don't know you guys, tell me what you want. I'll
do that. I don't care if you want me to
play you know kat.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Okay, Well, we're your hosts of the night, like Corey
Kent brings us on, right and then oh no, what
what him? And then we bring you on. So it's
kind of it's beautiful. So you just let us know
what you need. We're like your handlers. We're going to
handle everything.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
We got. We got this done, so.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
I don't like calling you my handler by any means.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Oh dude, you know what, it's really funny about this.
We were giving away tickets this week speaking of that, and.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
We were calling it.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
What were we calling when Brad's It was Brad's private box,
Bread's box. Yeah, we Brad's private box.

Speaker 1 (11:06):
And I'm going seriously, that's where we gave away.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
We're giving away private box seats to your show. It's like,
can you guys in promotions figure out how to word
that any worse people?

Speaker 3 (11:16):
I've got that and that's in the fireproof safe in
the basement.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
Oh okay, little private Well, we'll leave it there.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
It's gonna be a lot of fun though. I really
love it up there. And and it's probably pretty good weather.
It's Timmy.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
You're right, it's snowing today, so I don't know is
it really what it really is?

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Yes, you all are not.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Well, we didn't do it.

Speaker 5 (11:41):
The weirdest The weirdest thing is it was like seventy
degrees yesterday and now it's snowing today.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Well, actually, that would be fun to fun to see
some snow here in the middle of summer.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Pretty much, bring bring Huck and Jasper. You know you
guys go slid have a little fun with that. Yeah,
it'd be a good time. Sounds like real quick before
we let you go, And I know, you know, you're
probably in pain by about not. I don't blame you either,
by the way, but do you have a favorite memory
of Minnesota outside of this interview, Like, do you have
a Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Let me think about it, Okay. I mean I remember
playing the new the Arena there in the Twin Cities.
Uh yeah, and in the summer when it was kind
of niceness weather, and they actually got me the local
car dealership there dropped the Corvette off to drive for
the day, like a like a and and so me

(12:35):
and my road manager got in that and just drove
around those areas in a in a sports car. It
was so much fun. It was. It was just because
we had a relationship with like Chevy doing this thing
on the tour and every now and then they dropped
car off to drive around. And man, what a great city.
I'm telling you, you guys have such a cool place

(12:55):
to live. You really do. It's really, really, really cool.
Actually in the winter it is.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
It's a Saturday.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
Oh, we don't have a corvette for you, but we
get we have a sleigh, so we'll be ready.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yeah, yeah, some put some chains on it. We'll drive
it around.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Well, thank you for your time, Brad. We're looking forward
to Saturday night. We're I mean, we are your hosts
that night kind of and you know, looking forward to
a night of Brad's bangers.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Well, I can't wait. We're gonna have a great time.
I'll play all the songs you want to hear in
a bunch you don't, all right, yeah, and everyone will
go home overlease satisfy.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
I love that. Thank you very much, dude. Thanks for
your time, and we'll see you in just a few bud.
