Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Gary and Shannon and you're listening to KFI
AM six forty, the Gary and Shannon Show on demand
on the iHeartRadio app. Shannon's out today, planned vacation. It's
not a reaction to last night's chargers when at sofar
over the Vikings, just the planned vacation.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
She'll be back on Monday.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
It's Friday, so we have a bunch of stuff that
we're going to be going through, including entertainment report with
Heather Brooker is coming up a little bit later. The
new poll that came out regarding Prop fifty is not
good news if you wanted to see that thing die
a slow death. Looks like it's headed for victory, and
we've already seen some record numbers of ballots being returned,

(00:43):
so we'll we'll talk about that coming up a little
bit later. Also, I don't know if you have one
of those wellness apps, whatever it is, a workout app,
maybe it's counting your steps or something like that. There
is a new study that suggests that those apps that
you're using to try to look and feel better might
actually make you a look and feel worse because of

(01:07):
the way that they target you and the kinds of
things that they the images, for example, that they show
you all of these ridiculously hot young people doing the
exercises and seeing the results of those exercises while you
and I keep cramming our faces with lemon oreos. A
couple stories who were following Alaska Airlines said its operations

(01:30):
have resumed and had to ground planes for hours yesterday
because of an IT outage. The airline said in a
statement that two hundred and twenty nine flights were canceled
because the outage. More flight disruptions were expected as it
were to reposition aircraft and crews. Alaska said it's working
on getting travelers affected by the disruption to their destinations,

(01:51):
as did passengers check their flight status before headed to
the airport. Hey, somebody who will get give me a
location on Tim Kates so he can come and we
could talk to Dodgers here just a moment, go get him.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
He's in the other studio.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
CBS News Editor in chief Barry Weiss is looking at
Fox News anchor Brett Behar trying to get him to
the helmet. CBS News. She took over a CBS News
shortly after David Allison acquired CBS and has been trying
to go through and reconfigure some of the day to
day operations, some internal names. Nora O'Donnell, Tony Ducopple, I

(02:31):
think it's how you say his name. Still possibilities to
take over CBS Evening News, but has spoken with several
colleagues about bringing in Brett bar into the CBS fold.
So we'll see where that goes. All right, Dodgers, somebody
go get Tim Kates. Seriously, somebody go get Tim Kates.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Is he he left the room?

Speaker 1 (02:52):
The World Series Game one starts tonight just after five o'clock,
when you're going to see first pitch and you can
hear it all on a five seventy k l See
Blake Snow is going to be pitching for the Dodgers tonight.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Trey, Yes, say Tray's Trey. I couldn't say it either,
so I just left it out of my story this night.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
How do you say his name? No, Trey is pitching
for the Blue Jays. Yes, Savage, Yes, yes, sir, yes Savage.
This kid just drafted last year, just made it to
the major leagues the middle of last month, and now
this is his I think his sixth start. The third
one in the postseason. Tim Kates is the voice of

(03:38):
your Los Angeles Dodgers busy last couple of weeks for you.
So Hey, thanks for staying awake.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Anything for you, Gary, So talk First of all, talk
about this Blue Jays pitcher that's coming great, great stuff
for being as young as he is. Yeah, twenty two
years old. The second youngest starting pitcher in a World
Series game Ralph Brank I believe in nineteen forty something
for the Dodgers. So the last time we had a
picture this young, I mean you mentioned it. He was

(04:04):
started the season in a ball dundedon Florida. He was
pitching for the Blue Jays in the minor leagues. He
was a first round pick a year ago, and here
he is a year and a half later, he's pitching
in Game one of the World Series. I don't think
the Blue Jays envisioned this back in September when they
called him up.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
But he's been really good. He made two starts in.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
The ALCS against the Seattle Marris And here's the thing.
He's got really good stuff. But the Dodgers can get
to him.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Gary.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
The Mariners had him on the ropes twice with the
bases loaded, and twice he got groundball double plays to
get out of these jams. The Dodgers are a better
offense than Seattle Mariners, so I don't think they let
him off the hook is easy.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Bobashett I believe is coming back for the Blue Jays.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Is that good news bad news?

Speaker 3 (04:45):
I mean, it's not great news obviously, but they have
to figure out where they're gonna put him. Is he
gonna be the dh because of his lower leg injury,
or is he gonna play short maybe even second, which
is not his natural position. But George Springer is their
designated hitter, so they're gonna have to figure out where
he fits into the puzz here. But that's a huge
advantage for the Blue Jays getting that bat back, because
I mean, he's not flat Guerrero George Springer, but still

(05:07):
he's a third bat now in that lineup.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
That's dangerous.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Uh vlag Guerrero I think is one of the guys
that would scare should scare Dodgers fans, because that guy
can get hot and he hits balls really hard.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
Yeah, he's a guy like five or six home runs
already this postseason. There's a reason they gave him five
hundred million dollars in a new contract because he's in
a portion of the city of Ottawa.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
That's right, that's right.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
He gets, he gets, he gets part of the hockey
team there in Ottawa.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
He's good, he is really good.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
But if the Dodgers can neutralize him just a little bit,
pitch around him, not have him with guys on base
and a threat to hit a three run home run
or driving a bunch of runs, that's a good thing.
Limit the damage as much as possible. He's like an
Aaron Judge a year ago. If Dodger fans, remember you
neutralize him as best as possible, so that way, when
he does make contact, hit the ball really far.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
It's limited. Yeah, let me make somebody else beat you exactly.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Which is the if I remember right, the bottom of
that Toronto Blue Jays lineup hasn't been very successful. They
have not come to perform the way that you would
expect the World Series team to play.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Here's a big storyline, real quick for you.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
The Dodgers bullpen, no Alex Vessia dealing with the family
issues speaking to which do we know what that is?

Speaker 1 (06:17):
I mean, the awful part the connections being made, is
they He and his wife announced that they were pregnant
back in April, and obviously that would be awful if
something happened to the baby.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
You just hope that everybody's okay and they can get
through this situation.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
But he's not going to be with the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
He's been left off the World Series roster and from
what David Vasseur, Dodger insider in Toronto, was saying, there's
no special bereavemental list. He's just not on the roster,
and neither is Tanner Scott Dodger reliever really not on
the postseason roster. And also know Michael Confordo the Dodgers
threw eighteen million dollars at and played left field.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
All season long.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Yeah, he's on the postseas because it's the curse of
having played for the Giants at one point.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yes, there you go.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
So tonight five o'clock is the first pitch. Tomorrow night
is Game two, also in Toronto. They will come back
and Monday night play Game three at Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Yeah, Game three, Tyler Glass. Now Game four, some guy
named shoey Otani's man. He's mediocre. He as the kids say,
mid Mid, I like that. Get good, Riz, there.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Is that right now.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Listen to us two old dads. You guys are six,
all right enough?

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Thanks? Tim? Did we get what?

Speaker 5 (07:29):
How to pronounce the guy's name?

Speaker 4 (07:31):
No?

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Tim, how do you pronounce the pitcher's name? Trey? Trey?
You savage? You seven? Thank We were close enough? Thanks man.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
When we come back this whole NBA gambling ring, there's
something to this that is a little bit confusing and
again got to separate. There's two different cases here that
the FBI announced yesterday. We'll he'll also hear from from
Shaquille O'Neil and his response to all of this. This
Michiga is going on in the National Basketball Association.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI

red button with a white microphone, and you hit that

(08:27):

Speaker 6 (08:51):

million or sweet James dot com.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Bank once again is the word that goes on the website.
Go to KFIAM six forty dot com slash cash and
enter the word bank.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
An hour for now.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
I got another opportunity for you to win a thousand
bucks coming up. So yesterday, humongous story that bo broke
about gambling connected to basketball players, not just in game
but also some home poker games. Two separate cases. The
way that they the way that they laid it out. Yesterday,
dozens of arrests across eleven states in this federal investigation

(09:31):
that involved I should say NBA coach Chauncey Billups. He's
a coach, but he's also a Hall of Fame player
NBA player Terry Rozier. The allegations include things being manipulated
within the game, including Terry Rozier tipping off co conspirators
that he was going to leave a game early and

(09:51):
then collect one hundred thousand dollars for that tip.

Speaker 7 (09:54):
One example occurred on March twenty third, twenty twenty three,
in Charlotte. Terry Rogier, an NBA player now with the
Miami Heat but at the time playing for the Hornets,
allegedly let others close to him know that he planned
to leave the game early with a supposed injury. Using
that information, members of the group placed more than two

(10:15):
hundred thousand dollars in wagers on his under statistics. Rogier
exited the game after just nine minutes, and those bets
paid out, generating tens of thousands of dollars in profit.
The proceeds were later delivered to his home where the
group counted their cash. As the NBA season tips off,

(10:36):
his career is already benched.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
Not forree, so I cut her off again? Forgot to
do that.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Yesterday.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
So here's the deal about that, specifically, is there were
other players and guys close to the league, In fact,
one guy who we've heard was close to Lebron for example,
that would know things about unreported injuries or unreported plan
time off or benching or et cetera, and they would

(11:04):
basically sell that information to betters who would then bet
on the under bet that a certain player was not
going to reach a specific statistic, whatever it was points, rebounds, assists,
that sort of thing, whatever goes on there in basketball.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Now, there is a.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Massive issue when it comes to this because this is
beyond just some guy trying to make money. If you
look specifically at Terry Rose here, this guy was making
or is I guess twenty twenty five twenty six million
dollars this year alone. That's his contract for this year,
twenty six million dollars. So a payout of about one

(11:46):
hundred thousand is arguably less than he would make per game.
So why would they do that? Why would a guy
like this put himself in that position. Shaquille O'Neil last
night the TNT NBA coverage ask that same question.

Speaker 8 (12:04):
No, I'll play some roulette, but never gambled at anybody's house.
Don't know anything about pokers. I don't know what they're
talking about when it comes to the Chauncey thing. But
I know Chauncey, I know Damon very well, played with
Damon's I don't want to sit up here, but I'm
ashamed that that those guys will put their families and
their careers in jeopardy. That there's old saying in the hood.

(12:27):
All money ain't good money. So if you're making nine
million dollars and you're dealing a certain things like how
much how much more do you need? Especially especially if
you know you get caught, you can do jail time,
lose your career.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Lose your career.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
I mean, this guy, if in fact found guilty by
whether it's a court or the NBA, he's done. He's
never going to play in the NBA again. That same show,
by the way, on TNT, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley
got into it as well, and here was one of
the interesting aspects. Kenny Smith was saying again former player
Can Smith. He was saying, you have to realize gambling

(13:04):
is an addiction. So the addiction to gambling is what
makes these guys make these illogical choices. The payoff is
pennies compared to what he makes in a contract, So
why does Terry Rosier do this? And again Kenny Smith
suggests that it has to do with the addiction that
is gambling.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Charles Barkley says he doesn't like that.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
He says, I think because there's people getting speeding tickets,
it doesn't mean everyone in the league speeds. So don't
look at this group of people that started to get
investigated as the entire league. And he said, first of all,
take Chauncey out of the equation. The reason that he
was mad at what Kenny Smith said this being an addiction,
It says he said, it had nothing to do with addiction.

(13:48):
Charles Barkley says, these dudes are stupid, That's all he said.
These dudes are stupid, all right. So that's the one aspect.
The other aspect is big money illegal poker games. I
have a harder time with this one because in all honesty,
kind of feels like a victimless crime. I'll explain that when.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
I come back.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
Gary and Shannon will continue.

Speaker 6 (14:14):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
New York's Attorney General, Letitia James, scheduled for trial in January. Today,
she pleaded not guilty to federal charges that accuse her
of lying on mortgage papers to secure better loan terms.
This case was pushed, of course, by President Trump. She
left the courthouse today smiling. They chanted, we stand with
Tish did a bunch of supporters, and she went a

(14:42):
little old testament when she spoke to them.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
I've heard from just about every jurisdiction in this nation
who have said stand up and be tall, and never
ever cow down or back down.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Or break a bend. So there's no THEA today, No THEA.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
Because I believe that justice.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Will rain down like water.

Speaker 5 (15:06):
There it is, and righteousness like a.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Mighty stream coming up at well.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
In the next segment, I was going to talk about
President Trump and him going after the province of Ottawa
or the city of Ottawa.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
I don't even know that it's Canada.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
But they're commercial that uses Reagan's words about tariffs. We'll
talk about that coming up, but we were discussing the
case that was brought announced. I should say yesterday, these
indictments announced by the FBI on the gambling scheme. We
talked about the NBA portion of it, specifically the potential
not necessarily to fix games, but at least to fix

(15:45):
statistics and joining us to talk more about this. Ryan
Bass with News Nation about these poker games that were
also run and Ryan, we know that the whole setup
was getting some of these bigger fish using their terms
to come into these poker games with a lot of
money for the opportunity to play with guys like Chauncey

(16:07):
Billups or other celebrities that.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
They might be interested in hanging out with.

Speaker 8 (16:13):
Dary.

Speaker 9 (16:13):
I mean, in this indictment, Phillips was referenced as kind
of the face card, if you will, So one of
those big ging pins that would come in and be
used to basically lure folks in with money to play
in these celebrity you know, poker tournaments that were basically
backed by the mafia and then we're cheating. You know,
technology was used. I mean, it was pretty it's pretty
insane to look through. I mean, it's federal indictment basically

(16:35):
reads like a Hollywood script. I feel like it's built
out of something out of like The Ocean's Heist films,
because this is hidden cameras at poker tables that you
know are inside infrom shared with NBA players and prop
bets on that side. What you're specifically referring to here
has everything to do with, you know, utilizing contact lenses
and glasses that of X ray technology or x ray

(16:56):
technology out of the tables. It's pretty insane to see
how they were able to lure and defraud victims that
have millions of dollars in these mob run matches. In fact,
this indictment lists one person specifically, not by name, but
saying they lost one point eight million dollars or at
least were tricked into losing that big amount of cash.
So the federal diatment lays out a pretty strong case here.

(17:16):
Johnson Phillips and his attorney have said that they are innocent.
They're looking forward to fighting this in court. But yeah,
this is this indictment is heavy, heavy stuff.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
The whole world of illegal poker games is nothing new.
I mean those have been around since poker, So the
idea that this part of it is new is it's
not novel, I'll say that. But the idea that the
mob was behind this, and a lot of comments yesterday
came out. A lot of people were saying the Mob

(17:47):
is back. Did the Mob ever go anywhere?

Speaker 9 (17:51):
Honestly on our network area where you've had a couple
of ex Mob members that have joined and they were
basically Mob enforcers as it was over the last seven
twenty four hours or so since the story broke, and
you know, listening to them and talking about you know,
the history of this. I mean, these are two of
the oldest scams in gambling, carry rigged poker games and
sports odds, you know, but now they've been carried out

(18:12):
with modern tech.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
And mod tize.

Speaker 9 (18:13):
So you know, there are four specific crime families that
have been linked here that have MOB ties. So it
does get kind of muddy. You have, you know, many
arraignments that occurred yesterday with a lot of these folks
that are tied to these families. So yes, this isn't new, right,
this is going on for lung time. I think what
is shocking and new about this is one when you
have big time names like a Damon Jones or like

(18:36):
a you know, Chotzy Billups that are linked to this
allegedly and the kind of technology that is used. Right,
these are these are old gambling scams, but you're talking
about new modern technology or modern apps that are now
being able to be used here to scam people out
of money. It's you know what the FBI is accusing.
You know, these these thirty plus folks of doing that
have been indicted here is pretty incredible.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Do you think this push is Congress towards some sort
of regulation, some sort of firewall between major league sports
and those prop betting sites.

Speaker 9 (19:09):
It's hard to tell, right. I mean, once, once the
Supreme Court allowed gambling in twenty eighteen sports betting specifically
to be illegal across the country. I mean that kind
of opened the floodgates, right. I mean, look, two days
ago the NCAA Divisions one, two, and three granted student
athletes and staff the ability to now bet on pro sports.
That was actually allowed just two days ago prior to

(19:30):
this coming out. So you know what Adam Silver, the
NBA Commissioner, has asked for, and he has reached out
to some of the big sports betting books that they've
partner with, is to limit these prop bets. I think
you could see something in terms of legislation coming down,
whether it be from you know, state legislators or you
know I can't imagine at the federal levels since they
basically open it up to allow states to run it here,

(19:52):
but you could see, you know a lot of state
legislatures come in and start to limit you know, these
prop bets, because that is where I think nowadays the
teggarty comes to play. But I will say this, Gary,
you know, before, when when it came to sports betting,
you have to use offshore sites. You have to go,
you know, meet your bookie on you know, in the
back alley somewhere. Now that it's going through you know,
state operated and business operated sports books like draft Kings,

(20:15):
like FanDuel, like ESPN, bet right, these are monitored and
it actually can create much more transparency around who is gambling,
how much they're gambling, and can spot any inconsistencies like
we saw with Terry Rojier in that you know, twenty
twenty three March game. So I don't know if there
will be anything at the federal level, but I do

(20:36):
definitely think with some pressure from the NBA, maybe some
of the other leagues prop betting could be rained in
a little bit.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
Awesome, Ryan, thanks for your time, Thank you, Gary, You
bet Ryan Bass there from News Nation when we come back,
I'm going to ask Fred Rogan to stick around and.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
Chat with us.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Ken you all right, excellent, Gary, and see it's amazing
who you see walking around the hallways. Reminder that next Thursday,
that's less than a week from today, we're going to
be live at Bjay's Restaurant and Brue House in West Covina.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Our shoulder in the door, our foot.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Blocking it from closing, because the last time we tried
to do this, the city pulled our permit or.

Speaker 10 (21:13):
You had one of those Yeah, yeah, yeah, so that
happened does one time too.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
So everything we do from now until Thursday is going
to be dedicated to people at the fine city of
West Covina.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Yes, yeah, it's got to be.

Speaker 6 (21:27):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
President Trump has said that he is.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Stopping all trade talks because of an advertisement that was
posted by a regional government there in Canada, specifically by
I think it's dug Ford, the Premiere of Ottawa, and
it uses Ronald Reagan's words. In fact, an old radio
address from Reagan back in nineteen eighty seven, specifically talking

(22:00):
about tariffs and free trade it is wildly edited. It
doesn't change what Reagan said, but in terms of the
order in which he said these things, it's wildly edited.
We'll talk about it we get into Swamp Watch coming up,
and about the President's response to it and how Reagan
might have actually looked at Trump's tariffs and free trade policies.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
I don't think he would have been a fan. But
that's neither here nor there.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Fred Rogan, dean of sports here in LA, and of
course you hear him every day on AM five seventy
LA Sports with Rodney Pete on the Rogan and Rodney Show,
tends to walk around aimlessly through the hallways here.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Sometimes when I'm hear we like to grab him and
talk to him.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Well, that's not exactly how it works.

Speaker 10 (22:47):
When I'm here, I just walk around because I'm to
a point in my life where I get lost even
if I know where I'm at. So I somehow amble
into this studio when I'm here to always say hello
to the two.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
And we love it.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Shannon's not here today, but the idea that she was
suspended for a single day is hard to swallow. So
I'm not gonna I'm not going to say that she was.
She was back on Monday, she was teed up and
knocked out. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying she
had a great day last night, or a great night
last night with the Chargers win of course over the Viking.

(23:21):
So maybe it was a pre planned vacation day. Okay,
maybe she got a little too celebratory.

Speaker 4 (23:28):
Oh I get it. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (23:30):
Well, and you know, really, given the season they've had
this year, she didn't have to celebrate much.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
Listen to my argument and tell me if I'm wrong.
This FBI announcement of this gambling situation with the NBA,
and I want to focus on the poker aspect of
it for a second here, because to me, it's the
victim's finger quotes in this crime I have less concern for.

(23:56):
You're talking about big money gamblers who are draw on
to an illegal poker game based on who's going to
be playing with them or recommends it to them or
recommends it to them. Chauncey Billups has been named as
one of the guys that was, you know, sitting at
the table you get to play with Chauncey. Chauncey's gonna
vouch for these guys and then you get taken to

(24:17):
the tune of tens of or a couple hundreds of
thousands of dollars. But you had that money to lose
in the first place. Now, I'm not saying it's great.
It's obviously still illegal, but I have less concern about
that kind of a gambling operation stealing from people, than
I would some player in the NBA, you know, purposely

(24:43):
missing shots, pulling himself out of the game, faking an injury.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Whatever the allegations are.

Speaker 10 (24:47):
So two sides. First, let's go back to the poker games.
I read the story this morning and I really dove
into it. They had X ray machines under the table.
They had some way where you could the dealer look
at the cards, which you couldn't see that.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
Okay, just a quick thing.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
The card shuffler, the Deckmate two specifically has a camera
in it already. You can buy it that way. You
can then hack it so it knows the direct order
of the cards. Even if you cut the cards. The
dealer knows which cards or whoever's dealing. They know who's
got a couple of cards, or you've got the three

(25:25):
that are out there on to start the hand. They
know whose cards anyway, It's amazing, It's amazing.

Speaker 10 (25:31):
I could not believe it when I saw that. I
didn't even know that kind of thing existed, but apparently
it does. And those guys were doing it. And according
to the allegations, Chauncey Billups was inviting them. Hey listen,
I know a game you can get into. And for
the guys he got into the game, according to what
I read, he got paid fifty grand. So every guy
that he put in there, Chauncey got fifty back. Wow, okay,

(25:53):
Chauncy not cool, right?

Speaker 4 (25:55):
Not cool?

Speaker 10 (25:55):
Now he could make the argument, by the way, what
do you want from me? I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
He does have a defense. It maybe thin, but he
does have a defense. Listen, I befriended these guys. They
said they would pay me if, in fact, I could
get guys to play in their games. So I told
big money folks that I know, Hey, these guys have
a game. I didn't know they were cheating. All right,
that's his defense. Now let's go to the other side
of it.

Speaker 10 (26:19):
Terry Rozier who was mentioned, and the point was they
were leaking information out before the game, so then people
would know which way to bet, you know, bet this
guy's going to have a bad game, or bet they're
going to lose tonight. But more often than that, it
was guy's stants.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Right.

Speaker 10 (26:37):
I saw video this morning. I could not believe it.
Of one of the games that was mentioned for Terry Rozier,
he could have been the worst player in the NBA
on that night. I've never seen anything like it. I
started watching him, I thought, oh my god, he's dribbling
and he fell down. He fell down, and I stole
the ball and went down to score. He drives, jumps

(26:58):
in the air, know what he's doing, spends around and
throws it right to the other guy.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
He goes down and scores.

Speaker 10 (27:05):
He took shots that were so awful, so awful that
when you really started to watch this, you thought, my god,
he's trying to miss. He drove in for a layup,
but he kind of either was going to lay it
up or lobb it.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
He threw the ball like thirty five feet in the air.
Is this real?

Speaker 10 (27:26):
But then you read the story and you can see
how the FBI, if they in fact, were investigating this.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
But wait a minute, wait a minute.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
So the question that comes up is why would a
guy like that. Who's making millions of dollars a year
in a contract do something so stupid for what amounts
to you know, a wallet full of money, not a
full contract, even if it's tens of thousands or one
hundred thousand dollars to throw one specific game, or at

(27:57):
least throw his stats in that game. Why does he
do that?

Speaker 10 (28:00):
That's a very good question. I've always tried to figure
that out. So then, and look, we don't know. I'm
just saying, so let's think about it. Why might he
do that? Or he's involved with bad guys and you're
gonna do it, or else, I mean, you do it right,
or this is not gonna be good. Maybe that's the case.
Maybe it has nothing to do with that. Maybe it's

(28:21):
you know, my buddies are gonna wager. I'm gonna hook
my boys up. I'm gonna take care of him tonight,
you know, and cut me, you know, feed meat the end.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
A little bit too.

Speaker 10 (28:30):
But I got you guys tonight because I'm your friend
when you were making Some people don't appreciate what it
is to make that kind of money because to them
it becomes monopoly money. Sure, that's all they know until
you lose that until you don't have that anymore, and
then there is simply gambling in general because now you

(28:52):
can gamble, you can't wager in all of these different places,
and no matter how much you have gary, some people
just find that.

Speaker 8 (29:00):
Well.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Kenny Smith last that on TNT was saying as much.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
He was saying, Listen, there is an addiction that's in
the base of this, which is that gambling addiction. No
matter how much money you have and how much money
you're willing to lose, there's still that that rush of
winning of you know, even if you're cheating, the rush
of winning that comes with picking up on the positive side.

Speaker 10 (29:21):
You know, when you are gambling away that much money,
I mean when you are throwing away a career that
could pay you what seventy million bucks eighty million, And
that's on the light side, because in the NBA, these
guys really get paid. If you're willing to throw that away,
there's something seriously wrong with you, There really is, and
you don't know you've lost it until you've lost it.

(29:44):
All leagues tell guys you can't gamble constantly, yeah, explicitly.
And the thing is in today's well, you know, maybe
you should be allowed to bet on other sports because
everybody does it. How about this. You're not doing it, period, period.
I don't care what sport. I don't care. If we
catch you gambling, you're done. But we live in a
world where well maybe it's not so bad. You know

(30:04):
it's I play basketball. Shouldn't I be able to bet
on football?

Speaker 4 (30:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (30:08):
Until you start betting on basketball too, right, cut it out.
You're making a ton of dough. You don't need to gamble.
Don't gamble while you're playing. It's just too slippery a slope. Yeah,
that's the way it goes. Bred is always what a
wonderful delight. Good Tinia, buddy, Thank you man.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
