Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Gary and Shannon and you're listening to KFI
AM six forty, the Gary and Shannon Show on demand
on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
We'll be talking with SHECHV Bruno a little bit later
in this hour, not only about his TV time last night,
but all about Katerina's Club in the ways that it's
kind of innovated over the course of the last twenty
years since its inception.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Bruno is such a superstar, you know what I mean.
He's got that quality about him, like where he just
walks into a room and he's got that presence of
just superstar. And this is before CNN named him Superstar,
International Superstar.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
I think.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
CNN he was nominated to be one of the Heroes
of the Year.

Speaker 5 (00:42):
He was one of the Heroes of the Year.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
But even before that, he's one of those people that
you meet and he just has this aura about him,
this presence of superstar. And then you know what he
does in his private life when no one's looking. He's
feeding hungry children.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
He did something for our family one time we came here.
We came to the restaurant, my wife and daughter and
son and my son's girlfriend and my son and his
girlfriend at the time had the same birth date, and
we were here on that day for the birthday, and
he provided just this absolute spectacular knockout dinner for us

(01:20):
before we then went to Disneyland and threw everything up.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
But it was beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
It was such a nice and heartfelt and he was
so friendly and friendly to everybody in the family.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
And he treats everyone like family because that's how he
was raised.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
You know, you have a good.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Upbringing where everyone's family, and yeah, it shows. It shows
his mother raised him correctly.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
We did too, eh, you know, there's some shortcomings that
we all know about.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
But if you.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Want to help out, by the way, the first place
to go is to kfi am six forty dot com
slash pastathon. It's got information about all of the different
ways that you can help out Katerina's Club. The most
important one today, of course, is that you could come
on out here to the Anaheim White House restaurant. Drive
right through, pasta and sauce. Donations will be accepted. The cash,

(02:10):
the check donations will be accepted. We have a giving
kiosk here where you can donate right there in front
of everybody and they can all see you buy your
sheep or whatever it is that you'd like to do.
All of these things are available through the website KFI
AM six forty dot com.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Slash pasta thon you wish part think go ahead, Oh
it's going to do this.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Oh a drum roll, I love a drug drum roll
because we have our oh my goshlock total our last
one a reminder DN from Teacher Creative Materials announce that
ten thousand dollars matching donation. We matched it within thirty minutes. Wow,
within thirty minutes we were able to match that ten

(02:52):
thousand dollars. So a huge thank you to them for
making that much money go that much farther.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
So our twelve.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
O'clock totals jumped up from just under one hundred and
ninety thousand and the eleven o'clock hour, we are now
at two hundred and eleven thousand, six hundred and fifty
one dollars. Wow, two eleven So that's about a twenty
thousand dollars increase, which is pretty amazing.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
Happen. Did Jerry Lewis come out here on the stage.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
And get this?

Speaker 5 (03:20):
Is he still with us?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
No?

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Oh, he's still with what.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
It's not that far away. Twenty seventeen is when we
lost him. That's not that far away.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
That's eight years ago. What's eight years between friends?

Speaker 2 (03:34):
And then we went from twenty eight thousand pounds of
pasta end sauce last hour from twenty eight thousand up
to forty seven thousand, five hundred and sixty five pounds
of pasta end sauce.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Did Jerry Lewis have a song that that was.

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Sung I'll never walk alone, Walk Alone? Is that what
it was?

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Yeah, that's cool.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
We should have a pasta so thon song.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Don't you think we'll take recommendations for what you could
put it together?

Speaker 5 (04:03):
You're in theater, what is it?

Speaker 4 (04:04):
I don't I'm not I'm not a songwriter here.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
You could be.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I'm more of a.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Well you could sing it thematic poet.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
If we get somebody to put together the song, would
you sing it?

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (04:19):
John's doing unimaginable things.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Okay, three o'clock hour, So the least you could do.

Speaker 5 (04:24):
Is sing us a song for the postathon.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
I do think it's important we want a song. It's
important to realize you want a song. One of the.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Oh I thought he thought he I thought he started it.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
I thought he did too. I think he may have.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
One of the best ways that you can help out
is also the auction items that are available on the
website KFI AM six forty dot com, uh dot com
slash Postathon. We are auctioning off the Dodger game. This
is an opportunity to go watch a Dodgers game with
Shannon and I and assorted other people who might company.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Or not sorted other people.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
You never know who's going to beat a game like that,
but we have the last several years when we've done that,
it's been an absolute blast.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
We are a pretty good time.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
I don't like to brag we're a good time, but
we can be a pretty good time.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
So you can go on and make those make the
bids on those auction items among other things. There's another
one is to host an hour with John Cobol.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I don't think they're going to want to do that
after they see what John does and at three o'clock out.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
I think they're really gonna want to.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
That's the important thing. And Deva, I want you to
expand on this a little bit just in terms of
how how do you generate money off of what John
is about to do within the next.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Couple of hours.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
How does that make money for the children?

Speaker 6 (05:42):
I think that the people that are here, you guys,
should have your credit cards or your cash handy, because
we're going to be collecting money before John makes a
fool out of himself. And you know, John is going
to need you know, he's going to need some encouragement.
And the whole reason that we dress him up like
an idiot is to raise money for kids.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
John's like a stripper who's a little shy.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
Yes, you know, we gotta give her some some skin
of the gas exactly. You know what I mean, right,
and that's money to Did I go too far? I
may have gone too far.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
I want to see where this goes.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
He's a reluctant stripper. You gotta make it worth his
while to do what he's gonna do. Anyway, it's embarrassing
and the sort of the hint that I got a
few days ago, what John is going to be wearing
today is something none of us will ever forget. It
will be emblazoned on our brains till the day we
take our last breath.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
I can nearly guarantee that.

Speaker 6 (06:41):
Yeah, I think that Michelle and I outdid ourselves to.

Speaker 7 (06:44):
Share we did.

Speaker 5 (06:45):
I don't know what you're gonna do next year. I
have a year to think about it.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Fortunately, Well, he'll be single because his wife will have
left him.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
That's true.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
His kids won't be coming around today.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
The sixteenth Annual pasta fun you'll be auction off a
wife a night with.

Speaker 5 (07:03):
Maybe we find him a wife next year. I like
it all right, I like it a lot.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
We'll see how that goes. That it's gonna go great.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
That's gonna be.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
When you see Deborah, please warn me, Okay, so I
can hide.

Speaker 5 (07:17):
His wife so long the other we have.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Security, Okay, security, we'll point her out.

Speaker 5 (07:22):
Really does the wife know?

Speaker 6 (07:24):
No, it's a surprise for her too.

Speaker 7 (07:26):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (07:27):
She's really going to be a minute last. She's gonna
be real pissed this year.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Why do I know what's gonna happen with John? And
she doesn't.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
But I didn't tell you. You didn't, I didn't, And
I know who told you.

Speaker 6 (07:39):
I have a feeling a sneaky suspicion.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Yeah, but she has the ability to because she's the queen,
so she can.

Speaker 4 (07:46):
Yeah, you can do that.

Speaker 6 (07:47):
I mean, maybe she did tell THEAH number one that
I don't. I don't think so, because we'd like to
surprise that.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
That's coming up up here today.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
She has no idea what's gonna happen, idea if John
shows up without his wife.

Speaker 5 (08:01):
She knew what was gone.

Speaker 6 (08:02):
She's been listening and maybe she turned the car around.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
Yeah, it's also very going to be that. Good, guys,
very possible.

Speaker 8 (08:10):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
A M six forty.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
We have a special KFI guest here, Yeah, Andy Reesemeyer
from KTLA but also from KFI.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Yes, as joined us. I have to turn the mica off.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, this is this is This is the difference between
the TV and the radio.

Speaker 7 (08:28):
Where where's your where's your your your sparkling water cart?

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Sorry, where's that? I was looking for that earlier.

Speaker 7 (08:34):
I usually get that with the live fresh cut, live water.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Kidding.

Speaker 7 (08:39):
I was listening and I thought that you probably wanted
to talk to some more third graders, so I decided
to come up and show up and hang out with
you guys.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
You first slumping out with us.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
We were mistakenly invited to KTLA last night and we
didn't know I forgot that they had miked us, and
I started saying all these things, and he was like, were.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
You what were you talking about? Were you saying stuff? Well,
like bad things?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
No, But I mean if you were the target of
those things that we were said, you probably would think
they were bad.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
Talking about Michael Woman's wrapping.

Speaker 7 (09:08):
Ability, Micah so good, they are awesome.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
You know, he is sneakily good at that.

Speaker 7 (09:15):
He's an incredible you know, he's a break dancer. Also,
this is not a joke, Like he can actually break dance,
and he can do rappers delight, like with his eyes closed.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
It's incredible.

Speaker 7 (09:22):
He does it with his eyes closed, not from a
memory perspective.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
But just to get into the vibe at this wedding.

Speaker 7 (09:28):
I was not invite because if you know.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Rappers to light, it's kind of a rule you have to.

Speaker 7 (09:34):
That's a great question.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
I'll ask him next time. I don't.

Speaker 7 (09:36):
I don't do that show anymore. But you guys look
so great on the seven PM. I was like, look
at those movie stars.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Truly, but I'll take the lie.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
You'll take a lot with it.

Speaker 7 (09:47):
No, it's hard, that's it's that's an unforgiving set, you know.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
It's a beautiful set.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
That's a gymnasium. It's crazy he walked into that room.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
It is a Jimney. It is surprised.

Speaker 7 (09:57):
And then they have us back up against the wall
in front of the min I didn't design it.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Nobody asked me. It's fine. I'm not upset about it.

Speaker 5 (10:03):
Well, Andy, we love that you're on KFI.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
And I was listening to you last night on my
way home, and it's just it's you're so you just
feel like we just met for the first time. But
I feel like I knew you right away. So your
first show and KFI then I listened to I was like,
he fits in perfect.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
Thank you. That is so sweet.

Speaker 7 (10:18):
I've been listening to KFI since I moved to LA
fifteen years ago, so I was a big Conway fan.
I tolerate you guys as well, now right, I love
I love listen to you guys, have listened to since
when before the show.

Speaker 5 (10:29):
Even yeah, I didn't listen to us.

Speaker 7 (10:31):
You don't know on the podcast. You can find it
on KFI featured segments.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Really stuff?

Speaker 7 (10:37):
Did you move from I moved from Indiana originally?

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Who's your we got who's in the house.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
Yeah, yeah, that's about right.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Yeah, yeah, there we go.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
I love your.

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Movie, thank you.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
You know, we're really proud of that.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
That's about the only love it when the drunk guy
stops getting drunk and comes back and coaches and then
the kid comes back, and it's the whole thing.

Speaker 7 (10:58):
It's you know, we we really are are very proud
of that one cultural moment. Don't ask about the Delphi murders,
don't ask about anything else that happened in Indiana.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Is that? Is that a common Halloween costume? Music guys
dressed up as no Delphi murder.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Yeah, the cast from Hoosiers, Like was seven year old
you dressed up as Astra guy, you know, not the coach.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
That would be funny too, A little straw hat.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
That's a good one. That's a good one, you know.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
And and and Halloween's a big deal.

Speaker 7 (11:26):
In Indiana, you know, as you could probably imagine the
Midwest of corn Corn like Burbank has nothing on Indianapolis
in terms of specifically, Magnolia Park has nothing on the
entirety of Indianapolis.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
Indianapolis, by the way, great city, yeah, great food city, beautiful, georgeous,
The people are incredible.

Speaker 5 (11:44):
This stadium's outstanding. Yes, yes, let's.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
See go Colts. We got Colts fans in it. Well,
you got a lot of new Colts fans, that's for sure.

Speaker 7 (11:51):
I mean, yeah, right, I mean I'm a Chargers fan,
as you know. Yes, And we were talking Go Balts.
We were talking about this last night, you know, And
I was surprised that there is not as much love
for the Chargers outside of my own house.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
Oh, there's a lot of love.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
In fact, I've seen the evolution of Sofi Stadium, an
incredible fan base that has grown. I was just talking
to this gentleman who said that he's got friends that
have become Chargers fans in the past, you know, six seven,
eight years. See, and I've heard the Rams they've got
seasoned ticket holders because they turn around and sell them
to Niner fans and make a bunch of money. The

(12:27):
Chargers have the real fans.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
That's an interesting take on that.

Speaker 5 (12:31):
It's a true take. It's science. I mean, it's data
and not science.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
But I've read data that says they just have more
season ticket holders because the Rams make more money. The
Rams fans make more money turning those things around.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
But that doesn't.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Okay, explain what you saw on Sunday afternoon with the
Raiders fans that were there as well. I mean I
didn't get to see the stands, you know what.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
For the first time, and I am no lie here
for the first time that.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
The Raiders have come to SOFI.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
And it may be because the Raiders are having a
dismal season and there's no hope on the horizon and
they're officially out of the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
After that loss.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
But for the first time, there were more Chargers fans
than I saw Raiders fans.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
That is the first time.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
It was crazy and we were all talking about it.
You know, it was wild.

Speaker 4 (13:13):
It's exciting, I think, I think.

Speaker 7 (13:15):
And also, if you're a Chargers fan, you're a die
hard and you're still a Charger fan.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
You've been a charge fan forever.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Yes, we just got to get our boy healthy.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
They traveled to the Chargers fans, they traveled this year
like crazy.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
So yeah, he'll be fine. He's played with a broken
hand for two years.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Unreal.

Speaker 7 (13:29):
That's, by the way, the amount of knowledge I have
about football.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
So we have to stop the cover.

Speaker 7 (13:33):
So I know she didn't say his name justin Herbert.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
Oh okay, you just you just all right? Would you
get it right?

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Get right?

Speaker 7 (13:41):
Quarterback ten?

Speaker 4 (13:45):
We love him.

Speaker 5 (13:46):
Andy, You're fine.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Thanks, guys.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
You can hear Andy of course on Sunday afternoons when
there's no Chargers game, that's two to four on Sundays.
You've been helping us.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Out in the evenings as well, So yes, thank you.
I'm so appreciative.

Speaker 7 (13:57):
And and we try to have people call in all the
time on the on the show on from seven to
ten and tell your stories. And I love talking to
people and putting people on the air.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
Well, glad you made it out to see what al thing?
Great job everybody.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
This is so cool.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
I've listened about the postanthon for fifteen years and now
I get to see it in real life and I
get to be here and see all you and it's
it's just the coolest thing ever.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Well Glaud Orange County. Glad you're you're on our team.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
Yeah yeah, go tag, go Teed.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
Go Ted any reason number ten hilarious.

Speaker 8 (14:49):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
A couple of things to note.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Number one, our auction items are open until ten o'clock tonight,
and you go to KFI AM six forty dot com
slash pastathon to find out the information. Our auction item
happens to be going to a Dodgers game with the
two of us and again assorted other people.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
But it will be at the suite at.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Dodgers Stadium for a game to be announced in the
in the summertime. There's also an exclusive dinner for eight
here at the Anaheim White House Restaurant courtesy of Chef Bruno.
Outside right outside, right in front of that pasta table back,
there is that ummer ev all wheel drive super bike

(15:36):
that's out there courtesy of our friends at Thorson that
is up for auction.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
You have Magic Castle Pass.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
You have a iPods, a bunch of different technology.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
John Cobelt is here and he's start of filing around,
but like, I don't see his wife with him, so
I think maybe she found out.

Speaker 5 (15:51):
What he's going to do. And there's a little bit
of a problem. What happened?

Speaker 7 (15:55):
What happened?

Speaker 6 (15:56):
I'm not really going to talk about it.

Speaker 5 (15:59):
Oh yeah, did we ruin a marriage?

Speaker 6 (16:02):
We may have did it?

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Rip?

Speaker 5 (16:03):
Oh no, she lied you? Finally did she leave you?

Speaker 8 (16:09):
John?

Speaker 5 (16:09):
We've been talking about the surprise. We don't know what
it is. I mean, we kind of have it. You
don't know what it is either.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Yeah, oh boy, three o'clock.

Speaker 6 (16:22):
Hours, three fifteen, three fifteen is when John Cobelt is
going to make a fool of himself and we're going
to have so much fun.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
I'm telling you, this is the best year Bruno ever.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Have you seen what's going to happen. You might get
shut down by the health department.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
I got security. God On told off before we change him.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
Ladies and gentlemen, we would not be here if not
for Chef Bruno. You would not be here if not
for Chef Bruno. Chef Bruno would not be here if
it wasn't for Mamma Katerina in.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Terms, it'll be here if it was five ye five
is a club. Let's mentioned the.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Number one thing we've told you year after year.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
It's an honor for us to be part of this
because of the work that we know that you put
into this. We all thank producer executive producer Michelle.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
For teaming for teaming up.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
With you fifteen years ago to get this thing off
the ground and to do this pastathon thing. And it's
become just a raging success because of your heart, I mean, because.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Of what it is that you put into this.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
And we talk every year and I love hearing the
story every year about how it didn't start this large,
this international. It started very small with Mama Katerina seeing
that there was a hungry child and saying, son, Bruno,
you need to feed the hungry kids. And I love
hearing this story. If you could tell it again to
us how this all began.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
It all began, maybe could of miles from the White
House right here at the Boys Girls Club. Mamat lunch
with me. After lunch, she'd say, hey, Son, you wanted
to do something, but I could not take her to shopping.
She's not a shopping. Mom, I said, what I'm going
to do? I said, oh, you know what, Let's go
to Boys Girls Club. She loves children and now because

(18:06):
of my mom. But my mom, you give her a
kid whenever cry, she would put on their legs to
cabal or that's what she would say. And she loves children.
She has seven on her own. And I'm the curious
one of these, even if the brothers and sisters don't
believe it. But when we are there, it was the

(18:26):
dally O kid. He potato chips, something normal. And the
Boys Girls Club director came to me ANAHEIMI said, you know, Bruno,
that most probably is on dinner tonight. And my first
question said why because we have a lot of under
private children, low incomes children, kids who live in a
motel in the garage. A lot of people can't afford

(18:49):
the dinner for their children when they come home tonight,
or they have a vending machine. It's like what translated
to My mom was next to me because she don't
understand English, I barely understand you're still but she looked
at me, she said, are you serious? My son said yeah.
I said, well, why don't you feed in pasta? And

(19:12):
I look at her and said, yeah, we came back
the same hour. We came back here, we cook some
pasta for the kids of the boys, girls lub and
maybe tonight, and that we haven't started one cent. It's
been twenty years ago.

Speaker 5 (19:27):
I was just gonna ask you what that was eighteen.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
I still remember two thousand, two thousand and five.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
Two thousand and five.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Wow. And now the number one thing is because I
don't count, but my girls need to count for I count.
In purpose, we are an average of five thousand meals
every day. We are in a fury city in Orange County,
in Kulous Few in La County, which is long beach

(19:56):
area San Bernardino County, and we are in one out
in four elocation. Let me think about one out the
four location. And you see the van outside, say pasta
Bruno Caterina's Club deliver it. And this year, like four
five months ago, we celebrate the eleven million meal. So

(20:19):
and the number is usually can't even thinking about that,
just say I know those now because the girl give
it to me. But it is a lot of them.
You know.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
We'll talk with Chef Bruno here more because I want
to know more about the infrastructure I mean, there's there's
some things that go into it, but also just the
idea of you have many stories of seeing some of
the kids that you helped even ten fifteen years ago
that now come back to you as adults, fully successful
starting their own families. They're successful, a lot of them

(20:50):
in the restaurant business themselves.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Those are great stories to hear as well.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
I want to thank also everybody at the Hilton Anaheim.
They hosted a bunch of our pastathon crew last night
so that they could get here early this morning and
help set everything up. Hilton Anaheim newly renovated, by the way,
their new guest rooms are just absolutely sparkling. This rooftop
pool that they have brand new restaurants and lounges. Again
at the Hilton Anaheim the ideal staycation spot. If you're

(21:17):
headed to the Disneyland resort, you want to go to
the Anaheim Convention Center, whatever it is. Book your getaway
at Hilton Anaheim Hotel dot com.

Speaker 8 (21:25):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
The party has begun.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
It has started.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
It is all about raising money for all of the
thousands of kids twenty five thousand a week at least
that chef Bruno is now feeding through this effort which
began so small at the Boys and Girls Club just
down the road, when Mama Katerina said, why is there
one child hungry?

Speaker 5 (21:51):
On your watch? Bruno? And that began what has you know?

Speaker 1 (21:55):
You were just telling me off the air about your
grandfather in World War two shepherd, a sheep farmer and
would feed troops with the sheep's.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
I mean, anybody down because there was the bomber. You know,
we're in Verlana, very close to Germany, but between Germany
and American all the time we're bombing. I mean, people
have no job, no food or money. And then we
come to my grandparents' house. Please no, no, grandfather Giovanni
his name, Can we get a little bit of milk

(22:25):
a little bit of cheese for my family? A grandfather
always say yes. I mean I know that my DNA
has come from that side of the family, InCred But
today I buy the sheep donation because if you buy
a sheep donation, they give a sheep to a family.
They can sell the wool to make to buy for food,

(22:47):
and that's my DNA.

Speaker 5 (22:48):
We bought a sheep too.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
I'm sorry we did we bought a sheep.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
I didn't realize that we were talking earlier. Obviously, the
way that they started with Mama Katerina and the impulse
was just based on one child, and you were able
to deliver a pasta to the boys and Girls club
down the street.

Speaker 4 (23:09):
How do you expand I mean, and I mean the
physical aspect of you. You can't produce that many meals
from this kitchen. Obviously, you have a restaurant to run.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
How do you expand it to the point where you
can give thousands of meals per night?

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Number one things I had to do is close the
kitchen on the daytime. I closed the restaurant for lunch,
but no way I could do both. Opened forty at
five pm. Then my crew for Katerina's Club start at
six a m. By two pm, every is of italt
because the four full time driver for them, and they
go to this location and by two afternoon the nighttime

(23:47):
CLO's coming and they start to get ready for dinner.
That was my option. Children open for lunch and I
closed lunch to keep every teeth for Katerinas club on
lunch time, and I expa to people. When I do
so many meals, the average meal is like eighty gram
but if I put a chicken on top of it
or extra budge, but there can be two meals in

(24:09):
one plate. That I mean, it's also easier for us.
But it keep increase. We have a lot of more
requests now for me to serve more meals and more location.
And I was telling early this morning, I have to
always wait for the donation of K five because the
first six seven months of the year we don't make money.
I mean we don't. We have to survive with what

(24:29):
we make last year. But let's say K five, those
are as much. I have to cut the budget off.
That's why. And I keep saying, sixty fifty two percent
of the budget come from K five. Now we have
eight boys gooves club location right now is waiting for
me to say yes. I will decide, and two weeks

(24:51):
from now, when we see how much we raise it,
we can say yes. I mean, a there's a lot
of work, but we start with one kid. Yeah, I mean,
we got so much used to we don't even I'm
not there to count it. As like to the girls
in the office, I do one who count and say
do you have enemies we serve you don't? Mine said that.
Many say yeah, that it's a it's a voutine and

(25:13):
they do only think about you know, it's a levelute.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Have you seen the need increase just with grocery prices
alone that we've all noticed that have just been it
feels like inflated for five six years now.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
It's really hard.

Speaker 1 (25:26):
To make your money go the distance at the grocery store.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
Have you have you noticed.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
That big time? Even my own chef last week I said, Chevuno,
we need to increase the price of the feed. Mi.
I can't believe a much you cost now just on
my side of the rest business, right, but for the children. Besides,
it's location, they ask you. But last week, ten days
I receive a call from a mobile park area is

(25:53):
one hundred fifty home, says chef, you know we are
in need of food and I don't receive that mini
calls from all the locations that won't call me. And
there was a week before tens chemist is any way
we can get turkey? I say, yes, we get turkey,
and this year we had that time to get a

(26:13):
lot of turkey. I'm not sure if it's too many
people in Turkey. But Eddie, my chef, was able to
get some. I got one other fifty turkey for one
other fifty family, and we went at nighttime from seventy
or ten door to door to delivery. But when you
do that, besides, I give the turkey's food, but the face,

(26:34):
the smile and the eyes of the people, thank you,
thank you. I'm going to tell not the story happened
the same week, like last week. A lady came to
the restaurant. I say, hi, are you Bruno say yes,
can I get some food? And usually they get food
at the club to all the locations, but come to

(26:54):
the rest ask me for some food. That doesn't happen daily.
I mean it happened once and whatever that was there,
I said, where you come from when you come to
us for food? I say, whatsay? Some lady told me
if I'm hungry, I can come to see you. So okay,
say it's for you alone. I said, no, I have
four children. I think she says she live in a car.
If it's not in the character the motelbum so says

(27:17):
stay here. One second. I got in the kitchen, we
prepare food and give the food to her. I said,
thank you, thank you so much. I said, well, why
are you live in a card the motels? I don't
have the first last month deposit to move out. I
give the office number, say, came to office tase, if
you qualify, we maybe can help you. Two minutes after
she live, a young guy came like fourteen thirteen years old.

(27:41):
He said, I say, I'm the sound of that lady.
They usually give a pastor. I said, I said, can
I do something for you? I was concerned? Why you
came back said we don't have any silver ware to
eat the pasta that I had a knife in my heart.
He came back to ask for silverware to eat a party,
the one that is out lacer that ss s tay here.

(28:04):
I give him and I give it extra stuff, extra
dessert and everything. But when you see that, it's no easy.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Well, and when I.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
Heard that story that you told on handle show, I
thought you said cigarettes, and I wondered why he asked
you for cigarettes?

Speaker 4 (28:21):
Close to you you can read the lips now, thank.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
You don't there for cigarettes?

Speaker 5 (28:30):
Why cigarettes?

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Funny?

Speaker 2 (28:33):
That is great fun, but that perfectly exemplifies Chef Bruno's
heart and where he's coming from and why this is
so special to us and to everybody at KFI. I
want to do a quick shout out before we say
goodbye to Chef Bruno. Ohanna Brew in Alhambra, one of
our pasta sauce drop off locations. Ohanna Brew collected one

(28:53):
thousand and fifty two pounds of sauce.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
Just by themselves.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
That's incredible.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
So a big thank you to o'hanna Brew in Alhambra.
You can check him out online ohannabrew dot com. And

Speaker 3 (29:15):
If you can.

Speaker 2 (29:16):

Speaker 4 (29:19):
He absolutely no.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Thank you, yes, thank you, thank you, thank you all right.

Speaker 2 (29:27):

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
