Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Gary and Shannon and you're listening to kf
I AM six forty, the Gary and Shannon Show on
demand on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Yeah, the rapture is upon us.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
According to TikTokers, there is a prediction floating around that Tuesday,
that was yesterday, that Jesus Christ would return to Earth
and take true believers to heaven. But there was some
belief that the time element is fungible there.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
Huh, right, obviously is fungible yeah, today, but maybe not
today in the sense that you think about like Matthew
twenty four, about that day or hour, No one knows,
not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but
only the Father.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
But today, well, I'm trying to figure out where the
discrepancy came from. The worshippers on TikTok are convinced that
the end of days will take place between September twenty
third and September twenty four. The worshippers on TikTok, Yeah,
they're on there, Oh, I know, yes. The courtesy of
(01:21):
the dates September twenty third and twenty fourth are of
South African pastor Joshua mcluckleya who claimed in a YouTube
video earlier this year that Jesus told him that is
when the world is ending.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
No, that's not how it works.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
It's a corner of TikTok where users are posting videos
of themselves discussing preparing for the end of the world.
Christians on TikTok staunchly believe chaos will erupt when they're
swept up in the clouds with Jesus leaving the earth.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Obviously, it's a great honor.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
One woman on Rapture Talk said, I feel like it's
time for me to step away from TikTok. I feel
like my story is over. I've been so blessed by this.
The Lord has done so much. I'm so grateful to
have been his vessel.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
I'm about to go. Here's a problem with the rapture.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
We can talk about a little bit later too, But
here's a problem with the rapture. If the rapture happens
and you don't see anybody leaving, you hang around bad people.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
The pastor from South Africa has said that Jesus said
to him on the twenty third and the twenty fourth
of September twenty twenty five, I will come to take
my church He went on to say, the world is
gearing up toward the World Cup, right, but by June
they think the World Cup will happen. But after the
rapture of September twenty twenty five, the chaos that would
(02:39):
be in the world, the destruction, the devastation that will
be in the world, there will be no World Cup
twenty twenty six. If you ever wondered how much soccer
ie football is taking over the world, it's now dictating
the rapture.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
It sounds like it sounds like it.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
There was a oh wait, real quick, yes, just before
in case it happens before we get to it later on.
A woman named Christina on TikTok is urging you to
unlock your phone and remove your pastcode with the intention
of being more bold about your faith and spreading news
of the rapture. Unlock your phone out of download videos
(03:17):
that you think would explain God's worth, because when you're
taken up into the clouds.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
But Jesus, you'll have left of me is my phone?
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Yeah, And so when they look like, what did Gary
leave behind? Is there anything? What they'll do is they'll
see your unlocked phone. They'll see the videos of the
word of God.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Show me where you spend your time, and show me
where you spend your money, and they'll tell you a
lot about a person. A big deal this morning is
that there was a shooting at an ice facility in Dallas,
Texas this morning. They did not give a whole lot
of details about what happened, but wanted to clue you
(03:53):
in on some of it. Dallas Police Department Chief Daniel
Como today.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
At broughtly six for a received assist the office call.
We responded to the call, got to the scene, and
we later learned that we had four individuals that were shot,
two of them deceased.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Including the shooter.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
DPD was quickly was able to locate the shooter who
was the ceased.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Okay, now there was a problem with this news conference today.
For one thing, it was pushed back by about an
hour before it actually started. At some point they said
they were waiting for the mayor to show up, may
Eric Johnson.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
But is that any think, Eric Adams. No, that's New York.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
But in this instance there are still confusing numbers. They
had said that there were two people down, two people dead,
one of them was the shooter. Then they were saying
that three detainees were shot at this Immigration and Customs
Enforcement field office.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
So there was some confusion.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
We're two detainees killed and the shooter. Anyway, it appears
two people died, one of them being the shooter, one
a detainee, and two other people shot in a van.
Now the other details about somebody from an elevated position,
maybe in a sort of a makeshift sniper's nest, et cetera.
(05:20):
The FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Joe Rothrock said,
once again this new trend of people writing things on
their shell casings.
Speaker 6 (05:30):
Early evidence that we've seen from rounds that were found
near the suspected shooter contain messages that are anti ice
in nature. Again, this is just the most recent example
of this type of attack. This will be a whole
of government response. There will be no resource not utilized
(05:53):
to bring all those individuals who are responsible, to bring
them to justice and to hold them accountable.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Now, the image that came out of the FBI, specifically
FBI Director Cash Betel posted this on x It is
what appears to be five unused rifle bullets shells, and
on one of them it says the words anti ice.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
There's no other messages that was the at least on
the one that you could see. I don't know if
they're mate, I mean, depending on they could be on
the other side and the thing was just laying on
the ground. But that's the way it appears right now.
But they're not getting into the specifics of who the
shooter might have been, what specifically they were targeting, where
(06:41):
they were standing when they were shooting, standing, laying whatever.
This apparently is right next to a major freeway in Dallas,
so the I thirty five East I think it is
was jammed up and is still jammed up with law
enforcement vehicles.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Trump has been vocal about how Russia and Putin have
left him, let him down, excuse me, And now with
the false semester back in, it seems like the mean
girls are back at each other's throats. Trump says that
any country with any sort of military could have beat
Ukraine in a week.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Russia's pissed off about that.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Trump also doesn't care about the First Amendment or any
sort of theater that that this Kimmel's suspension or sidelining
had anything to do with his administration. I mean, he
went so far to see to say overnight about ABC.
(07:41):
I think we're going to test ABC out on this.
Let's see how we do. Like he's not backpedaling, not
hearing the message.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
He is not hearing the messaging. We'll get into all
of it coming up.
Speaker 7 (07:53):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty foon.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Action going on today is you know, about two million
people in southern China had to be evacuated as Typhoon
Ragaza has been making its way into one of the
world's most densely populated coastal areas, already flooded a bunch
of places in Taiwan. Typhoon Ragasa a few days ago
was considered the strongest storm on Earth so far this year.
(08:23):
Brought Hong Kong and southern China to a standstill. Today
it's barreled through the remote islands and the Philippines and
some mountainous regions of Taiwan. Sports wise, Yankees and Mariners
clinch playoff spots last night.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
I think both of them actually had comeback wins to do,
so I'm going to the Yankee game on Saturday. Good
for the Mariners, by the way, I know.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
What a great story it's a fun team to watch,
especially with cal Raley big Dumper, and Angels lost to
the Royals.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Last night, Dodgers lost to the Diamondbacks five to four.
That was an awful showing. Buy.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
I mean, if you're a Dodger fan and you feel
awful about the bullpen, that means that the Dodger's going
to be in the playoffs for about four minutes at least.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
You're not a Giants fan.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Okay, Well that was an awful way to hobble into
a season where you will not see the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Just an awful game. Last night.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
There was a point where they were tied for first
not that long ago, I know, I mean it was
now for I know, it's awful, And there.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Was a moment, I mean there was a moment my phone.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Blowing up with all the Giants fans chat rooms about
people like we're half.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
A game behind the match tied with the match technically
because they had the tiebreaker.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
But still there was just there was and like honestly,
Dodgers fans wanted the Giants low key to win because
it would be better to face the Giants and the Mets.
I mean, it's a real ding dong there but still
but yeah, awful, awful because the Giants do that, and
I know this, they give you hope.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
I do at some point, I know, but it feels.
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Like more so because the Giants is like, count us out,
don't count us out, count us out, don't count us out.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
You know, like that emotional roller coaster.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Think of the just the roller coaster with the Raphael
Devers trade where they get him from the Red Sox
and we're like, we finally finally have a hitter who
just did nothing for weeks and weeks and weeks and
then finally he starts hitting again. I oh, raffi Evers
and he can play first okay.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
And then Kershot decides to retire, and the umpires like,
I hate Devers.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Let's screw up all of that bats. We will keep
an eye on that story.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Out of Dallas, the director of the IE of Ice
says three people were shot at that Dallas ice facility.
The shooter is dead shot himself. Todd Lyons confirmed the
shooting today. Homeland Security spokesperson said no agents were injured.
Detainees apparently inside a van were the ones that were shot.
(10:47):
One of them was killed and maybe two others were injured.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
If there was a memo that went out to America
that said lower the temperature on rhetoric, it did not
make its way to the White House. Jimmy Kimmel makes
an emotional return, says, you know, to something to the
effect of, I did not need to make light out
of a young man's death. I would never murder. I
would never do that. He did seem genuine, you know,
(11:12):
at tears or near tears during the whole deal.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
You want to hear part of that.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Sure, it was important to me as a human, and
that is you understand that it was never my intention
to make light of the murder of a young man.
Speaker 7 (11:26):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
I don't think there's anything's running about it, Nor was
it my intention to blame any specific group for the
actions of what it was obviously a deeply disturbed individual.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
That was really the opposite of the.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
Point I was trying to make. For those who think
I did point a finger, I get why you're upset.
If the situation was reversed, there was a good chance
I'd have felt the same way.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
I want to say this just quickly about it. I
agree with it.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
I mean, I understand what he's saying he didn't need
to make fun of the day of Charlie Kirk. He
had actually posted on social media some very poignant, sorrowful
things before that show aired last Monday. But he's has
this pattern in this habit of consistently going after Trump
(12:16):
to the point where it clouded his what was supposed
to be a monologue, humorous monologue. He took the murder
as a stepping point, a stepping off point to make
fun of the way Donald Trump was grieving the loss
of a friend or acquaintance or whatever, and that was
(12:38):
that was the distasteful part about it, and that's why
people got pissed off.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Yes, perfectly put.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
There are people saying that it was Trump's insistence on
the FCC and the FCC that put pressure on ABC
to yank Kimmel because Trump doesn't like him, because he's
been vocal against him. Then there's the other school of
thought that ABC didn't like one of their people too soon,
too much, going after a young family when they are grieving,
(13:10):
essentially politicizing that murder, which is already politicized. But that
being said, President Trump kind of doubled down on that
as much as everyone was arguing this has nothing because
we do keep free speech so sacred in this country.
As everyone's arguing, this has nothing to do with free speech.
This was ABC not liking what one of its employees did.
(13:33):
It wasn't the government's insistence. Trump is ruining that whole
argument because he has now come out and said I'm
going to sue ABC over Kimmel's return to the air.
He insists that ABC should have let Kimmel rot. He
taunted the network with more legal action.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
He said, he is.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Yet another arm of the DNC into the best of
my knowledge, that would be a major illegal campaign contribution.
I think we're going to test ABC out on this.
Let's see how we do. They're going to argue in
court that ABC is funding the Democratic Party through keeping
Jimmy Kimmel on the air.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
That is a bar bridge. That is a bridge way
over yonder.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI

Speaker 3 (14:23):

I don't think there's anything funny.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
About it, nor was it my intention to blame any

That is a bar bridge. That is a bridge way

We'll talk about it when we come back.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
Also, speaking of talk shows, Gavin Newsom made an appearance
on Colbert last night and completely blew through. These guys
are doubling down on getting involved in politics and it's
just distasteful. It's not what it's not why people watch
the late night shows.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
And if you missed it, Trump did say that Russia
should have won this war in a week with Ukraine,
that any good military would have. Essentially, Russia has hit
back just since the show began, So we'll get to
that as well.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Gary Shannon will continue.
Speaker 7 (21:19):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Gary and Shannon I Am six forty live everywhere on
the iHeartRadio app. Well, the President going after Russia, he
did hint it maybe pivoting towards China with his words.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
What.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Yes, you know you got to play off the people
against each other. You know, you got to play off
all of the powers that be and Russian China to
the big ones. And if Russia won't play with you,
maybe you nudge nudge China. See what they're up to.
I'll tell you about that coming up next.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Jeez, you guys, wait to make me feel so great
in the morning, I turn on your channel to be
happy and enjoy myself as you. But no, that's by
the end of the days. Okay, I a little bit more upbeat. Well,
it wasn't us.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
We just wanted you to be ready in case you
look up and you see all these people being sucked
into the clouds that on TikTok they say the rapture
was yesterday or today. Obviously didn't pan out yesterday, so
now we're looking at today.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
And I have a question about it.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Yes, sure, is it? Is it synchronous?
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Is it? Is it spontaneous all around the world like
same time?
Speaker 1 (22:36):
I'm sorry, are you trying to put logic on the rapture?
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Well? I think that what you're looking for is faith. Yeah,
I'm just curious. Are we going to get any I
don't think that's for you to worry about.
Speaker 8 (22:50):
Okay, Hey, Gary, just wanted to comment on your statement
about why people watch the late night shows their political
stance and whatever. Is exactly why I watched the late
night shows. I watch all of them specifically for their
political commentary and their comedy.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
I don't watch them for any other reason.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
So yeah, well, I think he hit on something, and
that's exactly right. In twenty twenty five, that's what people
go to those shows for. The late night we grew
up with. That's not what we went there for. It's
two separate products. Now it's at the same time, but
two separate products. And what it is is it's a
byproduct of the popularity of the Daily Show, which was
(23:39):
really the bridge. You had Jimmy Carson, you had Jay Leno,
you had Letterman, Johnny Carson, Leto, you know, you had
all those guys right who kind of stayed away from
that stuff. And then you had Comedy Central and you
had The Daily Show with John Stewart and it was
wildly successful and he was very funny, and he was
very political and he was very left and that took
(24:00):
on a huge chunk of the late night audience and
people saw that, and so that's what this iteration is
of Late Night, which it's a smash up of those two.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Worlds, which is why I don't like mixing my peanut
butter and my child. You don't some people, because it's
not Politicians should not be held up as celebrities, and
they that's not something that they, I would hope want
to achieve, is that celebrity status. Politicians should be known
(24:34):
for their service, not for their tweets and.
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Character and character, and now it's become the antithesis.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
And it's just that frustrating thing it has turned into.
I don't know why I was thinking about this the
other day, but I ran for what do you call it,
asb vice president of my high school when I was whatever,
a junior senior.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
So did I all the title?
Speaker 1 (24:57):
None of the responsibilities will come from completely, yes, one thousand.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
That was my favorite role unless President Chris Johnson was
not available for a meeting, and he was always there.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
But that was it, and I did a speech.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
All I did for my speech was Bill Cosby's dentist routine.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
That was it. That didn't age very well.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
But that was it. That's what politics, that's what we
thought it was. That's what it has turned into right now.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
There's actually never mind that was going to be a
bridge too far of a joke.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
It was going to be about drugging women. I will
say this. It was not going to be good.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Kimmel last night was defiant, argued that he was still
I got sold everywhere.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
I told you that I didn't realize I did. Sorry,
thank you. You looked at me like I was. I know,
I know, I know. It was defiant. He said he
was defending free speech.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
All of the other late night talk show hosts talked
about him and saying we're in solidarity, et cetera. Uh,
he had moments that I don't know. I don't know
Jimmy Kimmel based on what I've seen him. I hate
that he uses politics as the place to constantly go back,
(26:16):
constantly goes to that well for jokes. It's tiresome to me.
Same reason I don't like it when Saturday Night Live
does it. It's just there's so many millions of other
things you could make fun of. We all know that
politics suck, regardless of creative.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
It's not as creative as it used to be. That's true,
he did last night.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
Give a nice tribute to to Erica Kirk who forgave
her husband's murderer in front of ninety thousand people in
person and in front of one hundred million people on
television that watch that thing. And that was a nice
That was a nice moment.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
So it's wrong with your face? What happened? I hate loafers,
you know what? I was thinking that exact thing. I
just I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
I looked up at one of the morning shows and
they're doing this whole best Footwear for the Season segment
and it's women's.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
Loafers one hundred and thirty bucks for loafers.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
One hundred and thirty dollars to wear shoes that make
you look like antim Like, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (27:22):
All right? Trump? Going after Russia?
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Would it kill you to put on a pair of heels? Maybe,
says the person wearing birkins.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
I was just gonna say. Gary and Shannon will continue.
Speaker 7 (27:34):
You're listening to Gary and Shannon on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Here about the assistant teacher in South Carolina that's been
arrested because he sprayed the school with fart spray. To
the tune of more than fifty grand and damages.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Damages.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Yeah, how does it? Well, I'll explain later on. We're
out of time, right now.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
Let's do the quick. I have a Zelenski cutout.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Actually, one of the things that happened while President Trump
was at the UN General Assembly is he was answering
questions about Russia and Ukraine. He said Ukraine could have
easily been taken over by a country with any military right,
but also said, this is an important one.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
Which is a right book to Russia right there, just
an absolute insult to their military, an.
Speaker 3 (28:22):
Absolute few to them, calling them a paper tiger.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
By the way, write a paper tiger.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
And that's important because that was the term that China
used about Trump ten years ago, oh, eleven years ago.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
He remembers those things, he does, and.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
It could be a nod summer saying to him maybe
pivoting towards China and negotiating with them over his relationship
with Putin.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Trump did say, among other things, that NATO should shoot
down Russian jets if they invade NATO airspace. He also
said that it wouldn't be very hard for European countries
to get together and beat Russia all the way back
and give Ukraine its original borders again. Zelensky was on
(29:07):
with Brett Beherr last night.
Speaker 9 (29:08):
President Trump understands that we need more pressure on him
than not enough pressure from the Europe.
Speaker 7 (29:15):
They are our.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Partners, but it's not enough.
Speaker 9 (29:17):
We need pressure on directly on putting on the energy network,
on their financing system, on banking system and the center.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
We spoke with details about it.
Speaker 9 (29:28):
And we count on sanctions from the United States site.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Russia came back with a statement. The way that Politico,
the European version of Politico wrote it up today was
Moscow gave Donald Trump a zoology lesson Wednesday, insisting that
Russia is a bear and not a paper tiger on
the geopolitical stage.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Yeah, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov said the local radio today,
Russia is in no way a tiger. Russia is more
compared with a bear. There are no paper bears, real bear,
nothing paper about Listen, Russia and Trump leave the flowery
language to China and North Korea. When you all start
(30:16):
talking about paper tigers and bears in s it sounds ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
You sound crazy. You're not mao, okay, these sounds crazy. Exactly.
This all goes to.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Whether or not President Trump has kind of changed his
posture on the war between Russia and Ukraine because Putin
has completely taken advantage of him. I mean, it's it's
obvious that that Trump has finally started to see some
of the ridicule that he's been receiving for the way
(30:49):
that Putin handled this whole thing. Putin got and this
is a major gift. Putin got a meeting on American
soil with an American president with all the hop and
circumstance that comes with that, and did absolutely nothing afterwards,
despite what we heard was going to happen and hoped
perhaps was going to happen, none of it. So Trump
(31:12):
finally is starting to kind of wake up and see, oh,
he took advantage of me. Now I need to change
my tune a little bit if that means saying we
could easily take back all of Ukraine, or like you said,
going to China and saying hello, my friend, hurt people, hurt.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
People, And Putin took a swing at Trump in doing nothing,
and Trump is pissed off, and like you said, he
doesn't forget these things.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
And this was a recent issue.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
So Trump is going to be stepping on the gas
in terms of aggression towards Putin, and this is always
going to do it well.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
If you miss any part of his show, make sure
you go back and check out the podcast. You can
always download the episodes, you can subscribe and it'll show
up right after the show as a matter of fact.
And then on the weekends we also do the Gas
Weekend Fix, which is an episode of the podcast that
does not air during the week because someone has a
body mouth and the FCC would not like that.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Gary, I've been trying to work with Gary on that.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
