Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to KFI AM six forty on demand. It's
strange when you turn on the news today, or you
turn on talk radio, you turn on daytime television, Heaven
forbid by the way you turn on daytime television. It

(00:20):
seems all you hear is people blaming one another one another,
different political parties, different races, different cultures, even you know,
different faiths, different countries, different sexes, different economic classes, all
blaming one another. Now, is it really possible, if you

(00:48):
search your heart of hearts, is it really possible that's
always the other group or the other person's fault. From
the very beginning of time, man looked for an excuse
as not to be responsible for his own actions, his

(01:10):
own words, his own doings. From the very beginning, Adam
blamed Eve, and if you listen, in a roundabout way,
even blamed God for his own sin. Adam blamed everyone
but himself for his actions. In the garden, Genesis three

(01:32):
twelve says the man said, the woman you put here
with me, she gave me some fruit from the tree,
and I ate it right out of his mouth. The
first thing he says when caught doing something he was
told not to, is the woman you put here with me.

(01:56):
That's a twofer, that's a two fur, that's like a
child nailing. Not only the fact that it was the woman,
Oh it was you know, she gave well, hold on
a second before you get ahead of yourself. This is
what this is really how it happened. This is how

(02:16):
it went down. See, I was minding my own business
and noon and noon, just hanging out, enjoying everything. And
then uh and then yeah, then I went to sleep.
I remember going to sleep. I woke up with a
little like a little sore on my side and like
a rib was gone, and there was this girl. She
was here. Yeah, I think you put her here. And

(02:39):
then all of a sudden she's making me eat things
I don't want to eat. Kind of sounds like an
episode of Cops or something. The guy comes to the
comes to the front door with the you know, the
little white, a framed T shirt that's grossly described as
a wife beater T shirt, and then you know, in

(02:59):
the beer in his hand that's blurred out because they
don't want to give, you know, any promotion to the
beer company. And he's like, well, let's he first. Yeah,
she walked into my fist yeah, that was it. And
then and that's what it is. It's like an episode
of Cops, except God's the cop and he shows up
at the door and and Adam's going, well, uh, I

(03:23):
didn't really, I didn't really eat from the fruit and knowledge.
That's not what happened. But it's not just him, although
men may have perfected it over the years. Eve blamed
the serpent for her sin Genesis three. Then the Lord
God said to the woman, what is this you have done?

(03:46):
The woman said, uh, the serpent deceived me and I
ate it. You see, like like this ever growing chain
of blame. I didn't do it, they did it. I
didn't do it. It's truly like children. No one wants
to stand there and take on the responsibility of their

(04:11):
own actions. And this happens throughout scripture and it happens
throughout everyday life. Conscious pilot, he didn't want to take
responsibility for his part in my own arrest and the
impending crucifixion. Now he blames a mass of people and

(04:39):
almost puts it on me, like, hey, you can get
out of this. All you gotta do is renounce this
whole King of the Jews thing and renounce this whole
son of God thing, and we're done with this. Conscious
Pilot didn't want anything to do with it, but he
blamed it on the townspeople getting riotous. What did he do?

(04:59):
You know the story? He washed his hands of it
all Matthew twenty seven, twenty four. When Pilot saw that
he was accomplishing nothing but rather that a riot was starting,
he took water and washed his hands in front of
the crowd, saying, I am innocent of this man's blood.
See to that yourselves. Now, this is a man who

(05:26):
earlier had stated to me that you know, don't you
know why I can have you crucified. But now as
the crowd gets riotous, as the crowd gets loud, then
he goes, oh wait, you know, I really I can't stop.
I don't even know what's going on. I'm just gonna

(05:47):
wash my hands of it. How how many times do
you do this? How many times do you blame someone else,
point to someone else? How many times do you, like
like Adam an Eve, say oh well it wasn't me.
I didn't do it. There was circumstances, the devil made

(06:08):
me do it, the serpent seduced me, or like ponscious pilot.
You look around and you want to blame it on circumstances. Well,
this has just got it way out of control, and
there's nothing I can do about it, not even owning
up the fact that you placed yourself in that circumstance

(06:28):
somewhere to begin with, just as Pilot did. And Pilot
wanted to just wash his hands. And that's that kind
of attitude that you get sometimes when you just want
to hide the situation or make yourself kind of innocent

(06:51):
by a secondary action. When his case, it's washing of
the hands in your case, while it could be doing
something completely different. I'm innocent of this man's blood. No, no,
you weren't Pilot, and nor was anyone else that was around.

(07:12):
It's interesting how the desire is to look everywhere but
your own self. You've heard all the fun sayings. That's
the one really wonderful thing about church. A bunch of
bumper sticker sayings get thrown around.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
You have.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Remember, if you're pointing, make the little pointing finger with
you know, with your your pointer finger, and it looks
like a little fake gun symbol. The old saying that
if you point at someone, there's three fingers pointing back
at you, kind of a fun way to remind you
that when you point blame a lot of times you

(07:57):
are responsible as well, if not more responsible than who
you're blaming. And you need to look inward to find
out your part in whatever you're going through and your experiences,
and if you start there, and it's not just to
pick on you, and it certainly isn't just to beat
you over the head with something. It's so that you

(08:17):
understand that the benefits if you play a part in
the pain and the trials and the circumstance, then you
will play a part in the recovery. And until you
realize that you have a part in this particular play
in your life, then it won't get anywhere. And it's

(08:38):
throughout scripture, oh goodness, throughout scripture. There's blame on everything,
but you have to know where the true situation lies
and what part you play in it. There was an
old friend of the of the Jesus Show, a wonderful

(08:59):
and incredibly brilliant man, still is, by the way, an
incredibly brilliant man. But a certain experience pointed out to
me by way of illustration, how people don't always look
towards the simple reason or their part in that circumstance

(09:23):
before they blame others. And I'll explain what that is
in just a second. So the story as we talk
about the blame game and the fact that throughout scripture,
and I'm sure in your life many times it's easier
to blame someone else than to take responsibility yourself. That's

(09:43):
not where I want you. I want you to be
able to take responsibility because that's where true growth comes from.
And there's a good friend of the Jesus Christ show,
a brilliant man who went through shoes all the time,
constantly went through new shoes, and he would put them
on on his porch. And one day went over there,
I asked him why all the shoes on your front porch.

(10:05):
They all look new, and he said, I don't know
what it is with these shoes, but they start to stink,
so I just go out and buy new ones, to
which I replied, did you ever think it was your feet?
He blamed the shoe so much so that he went
he kept going out and buying new shoes, and quite honestly,

(10:29):
the best conclusion was that it was his feet and
not the shoe. I say that because there was a
good laugh to be had, and that is how you
react to many things yourself. You know, I'll just buy
a new shoe. The victimization that people tend to feel,
so there's only to destroy, not to build up. So

(10:50):
oh woe is me, it's this, and it's that. Then
you're a victim of circumstance constantly, and you always will be.
What I'm saying is that you can look at your
life path and see what parts you play in it
and how to do it differently next time. And doing
that work and putting yourself out there is scary but important.

(11:10):
You have to be accountable for your own actions, for
your own words, for your own beliefs. Matthew twelve thirty
seven says, for by your words you will be justified,
and by your words you will be condemned. Instead of
everyone taking their portion of responsibility, becomes easier to pile
it onto the other guy. Galatians six' five, says for

(11:33):
each one will bear his own. Load you must bear
your own, weight your own load in this. World and
there are those of you that will not only blame another,
individual but will look to Blame. God and there's examples
of that in. Scripture but even in the worst trial

(11:55):
of his, Life job fought off not only blaming, others
but even ran from from the idea of Blaming. God
job one two, says through all This job did not,
sin nor did he Blame. God and to get to
that place takes. Work AND i want you to make

(12:15):
it important enough that you don't get into that rut
where you're blaming, everyone where you're the guy in you,
know on The cops television show that's explained to the
cops why everyone else was at fault except. Him so
move yourself forward to that, place and through that awareness
and through the actions that come, afterwards things will get

(12:35):
better because you are taking. Accountability, Richard welcome to The
Jesus Christ.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Show, hi good, Morning.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Hi how CAN i help?

Speaker 3 (12:48):
You, Well i've already been confused on not really which
religion to, choose but all of them seem to have
the same. Message but for some, reason everyone thinks that
they're well better than the, other and they all have the,
answer Including. Christianity to, me that kind of makes it

(13:10):
like where things that religion divides and it only unites
the ones that believe in that certain. Belief but it
almost seems as easy as if, well if we had
just all realize that we're kind of all on the
same basic. Page you, know you know WHAT i.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Mean, okay well we could all. Unite, okay, well uniting
would be, wonderful but under certain. Circumstances now you're saying
that by saying we should all, unite that that's your
point of, view and you get into, now, well that
point of view could now divide if people think that
uniting might cause problems with different, cultures and therefore you'd lose.

(13:51):
Cultures so some people might, say he if we all,
united all you'd be doing what should we unite your
way under your culture or or are we going to
unite under someone else's way under someone else's? Culture so, now,
yet now you're pretty and peaceful. Sounding concept of uniting
has become divisive in, nature.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Completely. UNDERSTANDABLE i what What i've noticed, also, though is
that in the, past in, history when religions are trying
to teach other, LANGUAGES i guess you, know you know
how there are some languages that don't have the correct,
words or they say it another way because that that

(14:35):
particular language doesn't can't explain it in a certain.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Way, sure there are languages that have that lack words
That english language that The english language, does and vice
versa and things like.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
That. Yeah, so and you think of all the thousands
of years that this has been going on in the
different types of. Translations by the time it gets back
to you or into your, language it may be completely.
Different and when we change the entire, meaning.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
That's the whole telephone concept of playing the game, telephone
and then it gets mixed. Up the problem is that
the way it was translated and the way that the
scribes wrote down new copies really doesn't leave any room
for that kind of. Concept it just. Doesn't and there's
we still have all the originals to look back, on
or a good portion of, THEM i should say that

(15:23):
to look back. On with The New testament, alone you're
looking at twenty five thousand part and whole. Manuscripts that's
a lot to work. WITH i, mean that's not really
some one guy said, this but about your, earlier you earlier, Notion.
Richard every truth claim is exclusionary by, definition every truth.

(15:44):
Claim if you say something is black and only, black
it can't be white in the same. Sense in the same.
Way at the same, time law of contradiction non. Contradiction
so truth by its nature excludes. People it just. Does
and and so you can't say because there's a bunch
of different religions that they're all, wrong that they're you,

(16:07):
know that they're all. Wrong they could all be, wrong
but it's not necessarily just because there's a lot of.
Them one of them could be, right and you have
to look at.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Them they all, Believe, Okay so that's the hard.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Part But, richard there's ten ten students sitting in a math.
Class they all have the same question two plus two.
Equals one person has the answer four and everyone else
has different. Numbers who's right.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
The four for?

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Sure? Exactly so it doesn't matter that there was other
answers out, there and they're all. Numbers they're all, numbers
and they're all numbers that there are, used and all
of them are viable. Possibilities but there's only one right.
Answer so all that means is you need to get
off your tail and do your homework and find out
which ones adhere to truth and. Why, now they can

(16:58):
have similar, messages but it does doesn't. Matter someone can
have a similar phone number to you and be one digit.
Off richard and not get. You there's a lot of
things that look. Similar there's. Counterfeit dollar bills look similar
as a matter of, fact don't even make them counterfeit euro,
money money across the globe looks similar To american. Money

(17:21):
it's a certain, shape it's got the president or a
picture of a president or an important. Person it has
monetary values up in the. Corners but it doesn't mean
that It's american money or that you could use it
in The United. States so there's more to it than just.
Similarities it's NOT i think the question shouldn't be, look

(17:43):
they have all these. SIMILARITIES i think the question should
be what are the dissimilar things about those belief systems
and why and how do they pertain to.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
You? Oh, Well christianity is the only one that teaches
to turn the other, cheek AND i think that's the
best one and the only way to.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Go, Well i'll take. You there's more to it than.
That there's more to it than. That, well, no it's
okay for you to. Judge you judge people every. Day
if you told someone they looked nice or that they
did a good, job you're judging. Them judgment is. Okay
it's what you don't want to do is make yourself
better than someone else and judge, them like down at.
Them but there's a lot of Things, richard when it

(18:22):
comes to belief systems and understanding. Them and one of
the really key things to note, is in addition to
as you, say turn the other, Cheek christianity is the
only belief system that doesn't make man the. Hero in
every other belief, system you, can with a certain amount
of effort or, whatever achieve some sort of christ consciousness

(18:44):
or raise yourself to the. Level and that's kind of
a very human. Notion whereas in scripture it's About, god
not about. Man it's about man understanding there's A god
and that man should yield towards That god and towards
That god's. Way, well whereas every other belief system is
more about you than it is About god and what

(19:07):
you can do or what you should, do and how
you should do, it and how this is going to
make you the best person, ever and then that way
you'll be better than all the other. People and that's
not the, way although Some christians tend to act that,
way that's not how it's set. Up it's not how
it's set up at, all and it's a really interesting.
Book the way it's written is not the way a

(19:29):
man would write this type of. Book men and women
are always looking for excuses to not adhere to, rules to.
Rebel they wouldn't write a book that's the very definition
of being in, line being focused on that which is
good and right and. True it's just not what they would.
Do there's many wonderful things in scripture that sets it

(19:50):
apart or makes it different from those, things AND i
hope that you find those things as. Well there's a
lot of a lot of the same kind of questions
THAT i hear over and over, again and they're not.
Bad it's okay to you should have. Questions you should
question all. Things as scripture, says hold fast to that

(20:11):
which is, true a reoccurring theme on this. PROGRAM i
wish people would use that when they don't understand the
program actually, Anyways testing things and looking to find out
if it's. True just because there's a lot of people
that believe different, things and they're good people and they

(20:32):
may have good things about their belief system doesn't make it.
Right what makes it right is if it adheres to.
Truth so you have to look at all of them
and find out not what they're similar, in but where
the differences. Lie and you'll find that in those, differences
you'll start to see really what sets beliefs apart from one,
another and where certain beliefs will. Shine there's a lot

(20:56):
of wonderful things said and a lot of wonderful, BELIEFS
sms doesn't make them. True so you got to have
you have to have something that that backs that up
in a different. Way and it's not just well it
feels good or, gosh i'd really like everybody to get,
along that'd be. Great but even doing, that getting along

(21:17):
by whose, standards and you could be, back you, know
in a whole other. Problem anytime you stand for, something
you will have. Enemies there will be people that are
upset or. Frustrated so in order to really get, along
you'd have to. Agree people that like to hit other

(21:37):
people a, face you'd have to agree to let, them
and that's not going to. Stand so there's more to
it than just, saying, GOSH i wish everyone got, along
OR i wish there was one belief. System, well there's
a lot of different belief systems out, There but it
doesn't mean automatically that they're all wrong because there's so
many anymore than there would with the math. Analogy that

(21:58):
a lot of people came up with a different as
answer doesn't mean there isn't a right. Answer and on this,
SHOW i hate to show our cards and our, bias
but really we're kind of leaning On. Christianity, Barbara welcome

(22:19):
to The Jesus Christ.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Show, oh, great good. Morning, yes my Question jesus concerns my.
Family i'm a believer that my son and his wife
are not. Okay, unfortunately my daughter in law has experienced
some very tragic things that have happened in her. Life

(22:47):
three years, ago her mother committed suicide through an, overdose
and last week it came back her step dad committed.
Suicide and it really threw through me for a loop
BECAUSE i wasn't aware of all of this. MESS i
was of the, mother BUT i didn't you.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Know and it's there ongoing ongoing drug problems with the.
Mother she.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Over she used over the misuse the over the counter
drugs or some sort of prescription. Drugs, yes she had minimal,
illness that's all the roof to. It she had mental,
illness BUT i didn't know this lady, okay and neither
DID i know their. STEPFATHER i. Understand my question to,

(23:37):
you is this when someone is already, uh not a.
BELIEVER i think she's been, exposed okay to, religion BUT
i don't think she looks at it. Favorably And i'm
there to support BECAUSE i want my grandson. THIS i,

(23:59):
mean all of this new. Activity it affects. Everybody And
i'm wondering if more things like, this more incidents like
this where you've got people working in your own family
who are doing things evil to, you or they have

(24:22):
done things that are not in the will Of, god
doesn't that Push i'm afraid it's going to push her,
away push them away further from turning to To.

Speaker 1 (24:35):
Christ, well sure, THAT i, mean that's a, possibility but
really it's it's a one. On it's not it's not
such a subtle dance that every little thing is going
to sway. It really it's about the power Of god
and That god loves her and wants to know her
and knocks on her heart every single. Day it's not

(24:58):
are things going to happen in life to move people
closer or further away From? God, yes happens all the.
Time but there's more to it than. That there are
people still have a yearning and an. Understanding and if
people are intellectually honest with the way this world seems to,
work and you, know from the evidence that is in
the very creation around, them then they'll come to that.

(25:21):
Conclusion they may use excuses to push it off as
long as they can and to fight, it but just
because they don't come simply and don't come right, now
doesn't mean that they won't come. Eventually but, sometimes like
a scared, cat the more you run after, it the
more it runs. Away AND i think the best thing

(25:43):
to do is to always be that, Example. Barbara always
be that, example that pillar who lives by scripture but
isn't just trying to cram it down someone's, throat but
lives by. It and when someone's, scared to allow them
to come to. You and that's not, about you, know
refusing to talk about the scriptures or about The gospel

(26:06):
or anything like. That i'm saying that there's a time
and a, place and even the best, meal if served
served up poorly or shoved down someone's, throat will be vomited.
Up so really it's about doing what you're doing and
being an example and trusting that there are going to
Be christians in people's lives that are good examples and

(26:28):
bad examples and. People but really it's about someone who
doesn't want to, believe will use any, excuse whether it's
the you, know oh This CHRISTIAN i, knew you, know
uh scammed me out of you, know ten, dollars or
this ONE i heard him, cussing or this ONE i heard.
That they're just looking for. Excuses at that, point the,

(26:51):
best the best thing for you to do is just
not be one of those. Excuses.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Exactly thank, You you're very very. Welcome give me.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Hope oh there is most certainly hope. There and trust,
me there is a difference between somebody who adamantly Rejects
god and someone who's in a state of brokenness or
pain or. Sadness there is a, difference and you'd be
surprised How god works through these. Things. BARBARA i know
it's very, ugly AND i know it's very, sad but

(27:22):
your daughter in law is a human being made By
god That god loves more than you ever, could more
than any other human ever, could and he's knocking on
her heart every. Day and there will be people that
you know may sway her in different directions because of their.
Attitude and you have to be careful as, believers not

(27:43):
to you, know put a horrible foot, forward but to
always give people you know insight Into christianity and the
healthiest and best. Way But god's still dealing with, her
and trust, Me men do some really stupid things to
and that have caused people and led them astray over

(28:07):
and over. Again but even their stupidity can't out shine
the glory Of. God so you have to trust in those.
