Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to KFI AM six forty on demand.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Always good to talk to you. It is super duper,
super duper. It is super soggy, super super soggy, and
more rain coming too, baby, Wow, have look, this is
this is legit rain. And then I see these stories

(00:30):
about like trees falling over, massive oak trees falling over
and crashing into people's cars, and I think that sucks.
We're just not used to it. We're kind of spoiled,
aren't we. But if you talk to if you've got family,
if you're from the Midwest, you got family in the Midwest,
you got friends in the Midwest, they go, okay, yeah,
you got like you got like some rain and a
tree fell over. That's what happens. But uh, just we're

(00:53):
not really we're not really accustomed to that, aren't we.
Here's a NBCL like giving a bit of a recap
of what we saw so far.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
A joint oak tree came crashing down onto a park
car on Meadowbrook Road near Allan Avenue in Altadena Saturday,
where the saturated ground could no longer anchor this massive tree.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
We just heard an unnatural noise, like just a big bang.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Jim dramatic who's visiting Altadena for work, was shocked when
he realized the tree had fallen on top of his
rental car.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Oh the rental car. I wonder if he had insurance.
I never buy the insurance. Oh, Jim, I hope you
had the.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Insurance, or at least you put it on a card
that offers you insurance. You know, travel cards do that too.
And I walked down. I was like, oh my god,
I come believe it. I come believe it. Oh my God.
Not my car got smashed by a tree because it
wasn't raining that hard here at that time. It wasn't

(01:51):
raining that hard, So God knows what caused, you know,
this giant, one hundred and fifty year old oak tree
to fall down. I'm gonna take a stab here, and
I'm gonna say gravity.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
In South Pasadena, the heavy rain caused sinkholes along edge
would drive and then.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
I couldn't drive for and I couldn't drive backwards.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
And so I got out of the car and realized
that I was the rear of my car was in
a big sinkhole, and my wheels were six inches below
the level of the street.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Uh, all right, that's bad, but look again, we're a
little pampered, aren't we. Caleb. When you you were your
New Jersey or East Coast girl, right when you learned
to drive, did you did you drive in New Jersey? Yeah?
I drove in New Jersey. Okay, So you had to
deal with the snow, right, yes? Yeah? Did you ever
get stuck in the snow and have to rock your
way out of it? Yeah? Yeah I did. I mean,

(02:42):
it's just what you do, right. I feel like here, Look,
I get when the roads are slick because our roads
are just not engineered for heavy rain. So I kind
of understand that a little more when you spin out.
I've spun out on roads that are engineered for rain,
so I mean I have a little more. But I
mean when you're when your car is stuck in a hole, like,
there's way to get out of that right now? I
wasn't there, so maybe maybe it's not that bad. But

(03:04):
I've seen potholes bigger than six inches deep, right, six
inches It is a big pothole. But the idea that well,
that's it. I guess the car's totaled. Man, maybe not.
So I was stuck in Malibu.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
The persistent rain meant fewer visitors to the Palisades Burnscar area.
The intersection of Los Florists Canyon Road and PCH is
an area prone to flooding and mudslides. Duke's Restaurant is
located at the base of the canyon and is still
closed after a mudslide caused significant damage in February.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Yeah, we covered that. Did you see them? You remember
the mudslides from earlier this year at Duke's. The mud
was coming in, kind of washing the door out, mud
all over. It was like inches deep throughout the entire place. Man, man,
just double whammy for them.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Businesses along PCH say it was surprisingly quiet during the storm.
Officials are warning people to stay alert because the is
heavily saturated, so we could still trigger mud slides and
debris flow, even uproot trees like we saw right here tonight.
And they're telling people also, we are expecting even more
rain in the coming days.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
That's the part that's gonna stink. Look tree uprooted here.
A little bit of flooding there, that's not so bad.
More rain on top of this with obviously the burn
scars and the mudslides.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
All right, don't get comfortable right now. Even though the
rain has slowed down just a bit, We've still seen
a steady amount of rain throughout the day. It's been
pretty consistent, even though it seems a little bit lighter
than what we saw during early.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
All right, So you get the point, rain, wet, mud slides.
We get that. I do think there's a bit of
an overreaction, though, I do, and I think that has
to do with just sort of our our experience, right,
our experience is different than what it is elsewhere. For instance,
people in Miami are laughing at us right now because
they have to deal with hurricanes. We didn't have a hurricane.

(04:57):
We had some rain come down, right, I think it's fair.
But also Miami doesn't have burn scars and then don't
have mud slides like we do. So to each their own.
The idea of the rain, and what wigs me out though,
is that every time it rains, how many people on
the road lose their freaking minds and some people just

(05:18):
and maybe you're one of them. Maybe you're just terrified
of actually being on the road when it gets wet,
And I understand if you are. Again, lack of experience
leads to that. In fact, if you are terrified. You
admit it. I have more respect for you than somebody
that is scared and then decides they're gonna go drive
it anyway, because I'm not afraid. I'll be honest with
yourself before you kill somebody. Okay, I was I was scrolling,

(05:42):
you know how you do in the bathroom. So I'm
sitting there waiting for something exciting to happen, and I'm
scrolling on my Instagram and I ran across this comedian
in Christina Kuzmik. I believe that's how you say your name.
It's a really funny. Listen to this. You just talking
about the rain. Breaking news.

Speaker 6 (05:59):
We have an emergency here in Los Angeles. There is
actual liquid falling from the sky.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
The experts tell us it.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Is called rain.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
That's r A I N that she spelled it out
chef's kiss.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
Now, if you are not covered, you are guaranteed to
be hit by this liquid.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
It will hit you right in the head.

Speaker 6 (06:22):
It is destroying blowouts left and right, So please run
for cover, ladies.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
The way that she deadpans that I mean, you know,
in character, and then just moves right on.

Speaker 6 (06:33):
Fantastic as you can see next to me on this car.
There are some droplets. I am trying to keep a
safe distance. It's a little intimidating. I'm not gonna lie
to be so close to it. There are also puddles
on the ground.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
If you step in.

Speaker 6 (06:44):
That, your fliplops will get wet. If we can get
a close up right here on my umbrella, you can
see what rain looks like. It is freezing out here.
The temperatures have dropped below seventy degrees. I'm wearing six
pairs of underwear and my butt.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Is still cold. Yeah, that's crazy.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
Now there are these devices. I'm holding one. They're called umbrellas.
They must have been imported from Seattle or London or somewhere.
But basically it is a stick with this magical shield
over it that creates a barrier between that liquid and
your face.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
So the magical it's the adjective in it. It's the
the stick with a magical shield.

Speaker 6 (07:28):
Please get one. Otherwise, get to a building with the
roof and mark yourself safe on Facebook so that your
family does know that you are.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Okay, okay, all right, all right, come on, that's pretty good.
That's clever. I appreciated that one. So anyway, there is
supposed to be some more that comes down. So yeah,
no fundsies there. We'll hit that talk back in a
little bit here, talkback question today, what do you think
is in the Epstein files? We'll talk a little bit
about Epstein coming up here. But I continue to have

(07:58):
this this question of if Trump is in the files
and it's so damning, why didn't the Democrats use it
when they were running for reelection? And if there's something
in there that's so damning to the Democrats, why isn't
Trump using that? I mean, look, the the Epstein arrest

(08:20):
happened during his first term. He didn't use it, and
Biden had time to investigate, they didn't use anything. And
now but but they're still trying to block everything going on.
So anyway, what do you think is in the Epstein files?
We'll talk more about it coming up on the show.
But I'm curious about what what your thoughts are.

Speaker 7 (08:35):
Yeah, Chris Merrill, Oh weren't preempted by the Chargers again
playing this morning? Yeah, thank goodness, and they want I
get to listen to Chris Merrill, go man, go thanks.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
But I appreciate that they did win, right, I'm not
being a boob on this I'm pretty sure they won.
But no, no, no, no, it's look, I am a fan.
The problem is is that when I'm watching football to
pay attention to the players because I'm a fantasy football geek,
and Cayley gives me NonStop grief about that. But you no,

(09:07):
I'm yeah, it's all about It's all about the players
and how they do. And I had to watch that
trash game from was it Madrid they were playing in
this morning. I think that was a mess. I was
a mess. I'm a huge fan of that either. It's
not that I'm not a big fan of the of
the overseas games. I actually I'm fine with that. That's great.

(09:30):
I actually like having an early game. That's good. What
I'm not a fan of is that the teams that
go over there tend to be just garbage. So not
a big fan of Oh no, I'm sorry, Oh god,
kill is this right? The Chargers got blown out? Oh?
I didn't see anything on that game. Then apparently they
got blown out. I didn't watch, no, I had red
Zone on. I wasn't even watching any in particular game.

(09:51):
I don't the toilet. Oh my gosh, you're exactly right. Oh, boy,
do I feel foolish? You know, the Chargers got blown
out by the Jags thirty five to six. Okay, well,
my bad on that. My apologies, gang, I wasn't paying
attention to it. Okay, So still to come here, federal indictments,
secret injury info, and investigators are demanding cell phones from

(10:14):
inside the lakers own building. The latest twist and sports
gambling is hitting right next to the biggest name in
LA basketball since Kobe. It's next. I'm Chris Merril.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
You're listening to KFI AM six forty on demand.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Chris Merril, KFI AM six forty more stimulating talk on
demand anytime in the iHeartRadio app. We'll get to this
this bombshell around the betting scandal that continues to erupt
all over the NBA in a moment. However, I did
ask the question of the talkback. If you're listening on
the iHeartRadio app, just go ahead and hit that talkback button.
If you're not listening on the app, check it out.

(10:52):
Hit the talkback button. And the question that I what
do you think is in the Epstein files? Because if
it's about Trump, the Democrats didn't release it, so why
didn't they and if it's about the Democrats, Trump isn't
releasing it, so why didn't they?

Speaker 7 (11:08):
The Epstein files have not been released because this nonpartisan.
That means the possible sex with young girls reaches all
across the aisles. It can be Democrats, it can Republicans,
can be anybody. So therefore it's not released because everybody
is on that list.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Yeah, I would call that bipartisan. Actually, let's call it
bipartisan pedophilia, or as Megan Kelly says, it's not pedophilia,
it's hebophilia. She had really detailed and that don't call
the people on the Epstein list pedophiles because the people
were they were adolescents. They got It's been a bizarre week.

(11:52):
It's been a weird week. Yeah, been o. All right,
So what do you think is in the Epstein files?
What is it that is so big that we're don't
look here? The DOJ said there's nothing to see here,
and now we're opening another investigation after the DJ said
there was nothing there, which of course none of us believed.
But the investigation is to focus specifically on the Democrats

(12:12):
in the file. I don't have any idea what to
make of it. We'll get We'll get more of your
thoughts on that. Again, if you're on the iHeart Radio,
I pit that talk back let us know. The Lakers
are being dragged into this NBA gambling scandal. So there
were arrests of a couple of other players, Terry Rozier
and then the head coach of Portland, Chauncey Billups, who

(12:33):
was a former player himself. They got arrested for fixing
poker games. Basically, now it sounds like there's a probe
that is going right at the Lakers from.

Speaker 8 (12:44):
Katla Fong the teams, the NBA is asked to provide
documents and other property as part of its investigation into
illegal sports gambling. That's according to a report from the Atlantic,
which names the Lakers assistant trainer and executive administrator as
those who are cooperating involuntarily handing over their cell phones.
Last month, the FBI announced two gambling scandals involving more

(13:06):
than thirty current and former NBA players.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Okay, and then it cuts off. So yeah, the I
think the moral of this story is and the idea
is there were their trainers, were their players that were
leaking information or were they're being paid for inside information
like injuries and things like that. Okay, and the Atlanta
excuse me, Athletic did a deep dive into this too,

(13:29):
and they kind of laid out some of you heard
Eileen talking about two with their news that to Damon Jones,
who you may recognize you to wear a Lakers' uniform
kind of an unofficial team assistant. Now he's accused of
selling this intel on two Laker stars and selling that
intel to gamblers. So now there's ten Laker employees that

(13:52):
they say are going to be searched. Lebron is not
one of them. He's not been charged. Fed say that
Damon Jones learned injury info from a team trainer before
two major games. And then other teams tied to the
federal charges, including the Orlando Magic Portland Trail Blazers. Those
are allegations of tanking intel injury leaks. And then this

(14:14):
poker game fraud that I mentioned earlier, which I think
it's somewhat inevitable. There's a lot of money on the line,
and sports betting is everywhere, and we try to outlaw
it because freedom, but I think it goes without saying that.
Anytime you're talking about gambling. You're gonna have someon savory
characters are going to try to game the system. You can,

(14:35):
try to win, try to take money anyway they can,
because it's not about you. Have to understand the mentality
is not about the competition. The mentality is how do
I win, how do I get more, what does it
take to get more? And how do I best someone else? Haha,
it's not about the competition. I'm smarter than you because
I figured out how to beat you. And then it

(14:59):
becomes shady as all gay out, a little mafio so
esque Mafish, Mafisch Mafish, sticking with mafiash, lawmakers, lawbreakers, times
there ought to be a law. That's next Chris Merril.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
You're listening to KFI AM six forty on demand.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Every week we do the lawmakers, the lawbreakers, and the
times that there ought to be a law. All right,
let's start with smash and grab that didn't smash nor grab,
but did end up with a little bit of gunplay.
This is one where you're going to root on the victim, but.

Speaker 9 (15:42):
First catch a look at this surveillance video captured this
wild moment when a jewelry store owner opened fire on
a group of thieves and Madera near Fresno. This happened
on Thursday, when the mask men broke into the store,
only to be met by the gun wielding owner, who
was ready to protect his business. Those thieves ran away
with about one hundred seventy thousand dollars in jewelry. Police
were able to recover the getaway car, but not the

(16:05):
thieves yet yet.

Speaker 10 (16:08):
It was very scary.

Speaker 9 (16:09):
We heard just a loud noise and I told the managers, like,
I think those are gunshots, Pulmary.

Speaker 11 (16:18):
Investigation shows that they kind of were in the area
for a little while, kind of we would say, in
our field, casing the business.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
This was definitely meticulous.

Speaker 9 (16:32):
Investigation is still ongoing tonight. Police say the group of
men in the video are young adults.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
What it was a bizarre detail to added the end,
Police say, the men in the video are young adults,
very descriptive. Well, that narrows it down. Good news. Sounds
like we've got males over the age of eighteen and
what is a young adult under the age of thirty?
So good you got the suspect lists narrowed down to

(16:59):
about eight million people. Good job, got to start somewhere,
gotta start somewhere. We'll get right to it. Meanwhile, there
is corruption in Sacramento. I know, I'm as shocked as
you are, Absolutely stunned from KTLA. This deal with the

(17:19):
newsome aide continues to go on. The former chief of
staff is Dana Williamson. She's indicted now in twenty three
felony counts. The accusations are that she snagged two hundred
twenty five thousand dollars from a campaign coffer that was
supposed to be for Javier Bisera, who's now ranking for governor.

(17:44):
The thinking is here that Williams was conspiring with ex
beasera Aids as well. So you've got everybody seems to
know where this money is and then they all just
went You think they'll even notice it? Well, this might
come as a shock to you, but if you have
a quarter million dollars go missing, somebody's going to notice that.

(18:04):
I've watched enough TV to know that people know when
their money goes missing, especially when it's that much. You
might have gotten away with snagging you know, a couple grand,
but I would even then, I think you anything over
about five hundred dollars. I think beyond petty cash. They're
going to notice that it's missing.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
We heard the term, especially when President Trump was running
for president the first time, drain the swamp. And that's
something that I've heard from insiders here in Sacramento. This
is very swampy. It's the political class up here, you know,
doing nefarious things essentially and really not.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
Being held accountable for it, and.

Speaker 5 (18:40):
Then something like this happens again. Governor Newsom not named
in this, just the fact that his former top eight
is and political had some reporting too earlier this week
that said that as soon as the governor found out
about this, Dania Williamson was no longer his chief of
staff again. Javier besserah running for governor in a field
that is wide open right now, and really the indictment

(19:02):
has painted him as the victim in this. I mean,
these are people that he trusted that we're stealing from
him allegedly, and so he said this was something that
was hard to learn about, but also said that he
has been in full cooperation with the.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
Department of Justice. Yeah, full cooperation. He's also confirmed that
he is listed in that investigation in the indictment. He's
public official one said that the accusations are from a
trusted advisor, and that they are a gut punch blah
blah blah. So basically they say, Bessera is the victim.
Doesn't really matter when it comes to politics. If your
name is attached to anything criminal, people are going to

(19:39):
look at it like you're somehow involved. Even if you're not,
you're somehow involved, Or if you're not involved, then you're
somehow a goober for allowing it to happen right in
the same way, And I think this goes back to, Honestly,
I think this goes back to being a parent. Honestly,
I want you to think about our guttural instincts here

(20:01):
right what drives us, and that is we got to
protect our kids, and if anything happens to our kids,
we blame ourselves. My gosh, I should have been there.
What could I have done differently? How could something have
happened to my child? And we blame ourselves, and likewise
we sort of project that mentality onto public officials. Wait
a minute, you've been entrusted with money. Now, in this case,

(20:23):
it was campaign funds, it wasn't tax dollars that were stole.
In a I don't believe. I think it's all these
campaign funds, which were basically put into a dormant account
for Basra to be able to use in the future.
But what we do is we say, if that were me,
and it were something important to me, I would blame
myself if anything happened to it. I would blame myself.

(20:45):
If if my daughter started dating a guy who ended
up being abusive, I would blame myself for not sussing
it out sooner. Of course, I would be sympathetic, and
I would want to do everything I could to comfort
my daughter. And if I'm being honest, I would want
some sort of vengeance on the person. I would want that.
I'd like to think that I would instead turn to
the wheels of justice because I'm a logical person and

(21:07):
ultimately I'm a coward, But I would I would. I
would want bad things to happen to that person, but
I would blame myself. How did I not see this?
I would feel hurt. When we see this happen to
an elected official, we say, how could you let that happen?
In the same way that we'd blame ourselves if it
were something important to us, we look at the other
person and we go, how could you let that happen? Right?

(21:29):
We can sort of project how we might react to
something affecting being very important in our own lives. And
then finally, let's do this, let's go to let's go
to Oakland. Might surprise you to find out that there's
a massive chop shop running in Oakland. Right, multi agency
task force raiding a property in East Oakland. Why this

(21:50):
dude was running in what they called an unregistered auto
repair shop that was actually a chop shop, operating open
openly for months despite repeating complaints and prior warnings. If
it's an unregistered auto repair shop, one of the odds
that it's not a chop shop. Right. I understand a

(22:13):
shade tree mechanic. But if you're at the point where
you're like, uh, you're opening a shop and you have
employees and you're not registering, that's shady. That's shady. I
was surprised to find this though, as I was reading
a story about this chop shop and how many cars
get stolen and just a ton of cars get stolen
all over the place in California, but actually recover something

(22:34):
like eighty five percent of the cars that get stolen
in the state get recovered. That surprised me. I figured that, Mike,
if my car's not there when I come out of
the store, or if I come out of my apartment
and my car's not where I left it, I assume
it's been stolen. I hope it got towed. That's kind
of my that's that's the order that I react. I go, oh,

(22:55):
my gosh, somebody stole my car. Maybe it got towed.
And then I start going, what did I do wrong
that could have gotten me towed? All because I'm just
hoping I got towed. I'm gonna get my car back right.
But if it's not, and then I realize that my
car has been stolen, I basically assume that by the
time the police take the report, it's already in Mexico.

(23:20):
I just assume all cars end up in Mexico for chopping.
But you know, obviously they're not. They're happening. Chop shops
are happening here too. But come to find out, what
they do more often than not is that they they
take your car, they scrub the VIN number off of
it in all the different VIN locations, and there's a
bunch of them on your car. And then they resell

(23:41):
it on Facebook marketplace. Basically, dang, why didn't I think
of that? I am working way too hard on an
honest day's work, way too hard. That's garbage. I got
to be better at thinking like a criminal. I gotta
I gotta really start stepping up my game. All right.

(24:06):
That's that's it for that. I did want to get
to this one more time. What do you think is
in the Epstein Files. We'll talk about the latest, the
latest on the mutiny going on within the the MAGA
con fines coming up in here in a Juste Canittler
go ahead and translate.

Speaker 4 (24:27):
We're gonna cover what's going on in the Epstein files
in just a few minutes.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
That what you were saying. She speaks fluent merrill. That's
why I love her to death. Yeah, we will talk
about this coming up after five o'clock. But I want
to know what you think is in the Epstein files.
If you're on the iHeart Radio, I've hit that talkback
button and let us know, and we'll continue to get
your thoughts throughout the show as well. I do have
a few here that a few of you have called
and left your your thoughts. You'll hear those in just

(24:51):
a few moments want to hear more as well. It's
Chris Merril.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
You're listening to KFI A M six forty on demand.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Coming up here after five o'clock. There's a mutiny going
on within the MAGA. We'll talk about this in just
a bit. The question we asked, what do you think
is in the Epstein files? If you're on the iHeartRadio app,
hit that talk back button, I let us know. Look,
nobody seems to want to reveal anything about what's in
the files, So what do you think is in there?
Let's just irresponsibly speculate.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
Great show, Chris.

Speaker 12 (25:22):
I think the Epstein files the Democrats of the Republicans
are doing back alley deals, like the Republicans are saying,
we won't release that Bidy likes clown porn if you
don't release that.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Trump was mister Bill and.

Speaker 12 (25:34):
Saturday Night Live, and he has a lot of pornographic
videos on him.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
Photo mister Bill, is he listening from inside a clothes dryer?
Is that what? Honestly, I think he'd be a really
good time at a party. I'm not gonna lie. See
that's a cool guy. I gots a really good material
you guys meet me in the laundry room. This is
gonna be amazing great, all right, excellent.

Speaker 13 (26:04):
Folks are saying, I truly believe this is a rich
and powerful uh the the people of either anonymity or
the power to cover up it has nothing to do
with politics. That's my two cents.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
Yeah, well, I think you. I think that's as plausible
as any explanation that there's just rich and powerful probably
telling the politicians. That's a great point, very good, which
I guess enough money is worth it, or enough enough
if something is worth it.

Speaker 10 (26:35):
Hey, Chris love the show Man? Seriously, you always put
on such a good entertaining show.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Do you hear that?

Speaker 13 (26:39):
Kayla?

Speaker 2 (26:40):
That's no, he's here. Let me play it again for you,
let me, I'm let me turn it up for you.

Speaker 10 (26:45):
Hey, Chris loved the show Man? Seriously, you always thought
such a good entertaining show. I wish we were I
wish you were on more often, rather your dad or something.
Do you say this guy do you know him?

Speaker 13 (26:57):
No?

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Oh? No, all right, I definitely don't know him at all. Well,
I I definitely have no idea who that is anyway,
what's in the Epstein files? Here's what's in the Epstein files.

Speaker 11 (27:12):
A lot of politicians, a lot of judges, a lot
of powerful people, a lot of CEOs, a lot of
people that make a lot of money that run this country.
That's what's in there, and that's why they're never coming
out and there will never be just as served.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Yeah, I'm afraid you might be right too. Yeah, that
makes a lot of sense to you. But what is
there a certain threshold? Do you make a certain amount
of money that like, Okay, who I just made a
hundred million dollars last year. You know, I never thought
about it before, but I think I'd like to have
sex with children I ever make a hundred million dollars.

(27:48):
I'll let you know how the mindset works. Well what
that is? Yeah, because I don't, you know. And then
I didn't really realize that that was the thing, but
did he? And it showed us that you make enough
money and all of a sudden, you just, oh, bring
me the baby oil.

Speaker 14 (28:02):
In the eighth graders, are we still talking about dape
steampez command men?

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Give it a break?

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Gee? God, is that a voice ging gong with you?

Speaker 13 (28:14):
No?

Speaker 2 (28:14):
I hang on, let me take a look at this.
Uh trying to see where this is. That's weird. It
comes from a comes from a two to oh two
area code. Mm hmm, do you know what two o
two area code is? Look at it up being that
for me real quick. That voice did sound familiar. It's

(28:37):
Washington d c oh no kidding.

Speaker 14 (28:39):
Yeah, here's what are we still talking about? Dape steam
pez command men, give it a break.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Gees yeah, ging gong with you. That's weird, creative, that's weird.
That would come in from DC. Bizarre. I will tell
you about the split because now there are a number
of republics when it comes to Sepstein file stuff that
are kind of weighing their options, and neither one of

(29:05):
them is very good. That's coming up here in just
a few moments. In the meantime, California is being sued
over your vote. So the DOJ has we knew that
they were going to investigate, and now they are in
fact suing California over the passage of Prop fifty. We
passed it, We voted for it. As a state. You
may not have voted for it, but as a state,

(29:26):
we voted for it. So why are we being sued?
Perhaps the rioting was on the wall for this to happen.

Speaker 15 (29:31):
The Justice Department today is suing to block the new
congressional district maps outlined into Prop fifty and just approved
last week by voters.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
From maybec seven. But why would they sue? I mean,
we voted for it.

Speaker 15 (29:41):
This now sets the stage for a high stakes legal
and political fight between the Trump administration and the Governor Newson.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
But we voted for it. What's unconstitutional about us voting
to change the law that we recently voted to put
in place in the first place. I mean, look, sometimes
you can have propositions that do pass that are on
constitutional and they're later weighed and they're found to be unconstitutional.
What is it about this one that would raise that flag?

Speaker 9 (30:07):
You?

Speaker 15 (30:07):
If the complaint fails and Prop fifty stands, it gives
Democrats a chance to win five congressional seats now held
by Republicans in next year's midterm elections. Attorney General Pambondi
calls it a brazen power ground that mocks the democratic process.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Okay, but that's not illegal, and not that it shouldn't be,
but it's not illegal, uh, as evidence by Exhibit A Texas.
Of course.

Speaker 15 (30:36):
Prop fifty was in response to a similar Republican led
effort in Texas, which was supported by President Trump.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Yeah, and ours was voted on by the people, not
by the legislators.

Speaker 15 (30:44):
It's worth noting the Justice Department has not taken such
action to challenge what happened in Texas. Governor knws spokesperson
releasing this brief statement to ABC News. Quote, these losers
lost at the battle box, and soon they will also
lose in court.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
End quote. Huh, sounds like he's mocking somebody with a
two two area code too.

Speaker 15 (31:05):
All of this unfolding before us as Newsome has emerged
as a likely presidential contender in twenty twenty eight.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
So what is it that they argue is unconstitutional? What
they argue is unconstitutional, And I think they're gonna have
trouble proving this because the Supreme Court justices that President
Trump had installed when he was president basically have found
this to be not a concern in other states. But
they're going to say that by jerrymandering the maps, which

(31:34):
California is admittedly doing in response to Texas, they're doing
so in a manner that is, quote, manipulating district lines
in the name of bolstering the voting power of Hispanic Californians,
and the Justice Department will say because of their race.
So the Justice Department in California wants for race to
be a consideration when it comes to drawing the Yeah,

(31:58):
the congressional stretching map. However, North Carolina they would prefer.
Not so North Carolina, Wisconsin, other states. They go to
court and they say, wait a minute. The Republican legislatures
have jerrymandered this in order to diminish the vote of minorities,
and the courts went in the past, the courts said, yeah,

(32:21):
you can't do that. Current courts are more along the
lines of well, we don't see race. So if that's
the case in those other Republican states, those red states,
then the Justice Department is going to be walking up
very tight rope between saying California bad, but North Carolina
good and Texas good. All right, you think your party

(32:43):
leader has everybody locked down, but what if the rebel
forces are inside his own camp. The Epstein file war
is blowing open cracks and the MAGA coalition that's next.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
