Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to KFI AM six forty on demand kf.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I AM six forty live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
I'm Tiffany Hobbes and this is Saturday with Tiffany from
five to seven tonight. What an absolutely gorgeous day in
southern California. Thank you for joining me. As we transition
into the evening, I know once it hits about four
(00:25):
o'clock the day goes away and it's practically nighttime. So
thanks again for spending this next couple of hours with me.
I appreciate it as I always do, and we have
a very packed show again. Eighty degrees today, I think
in La eighty degrees out here in Burbank in December.
(00:47):
I'm somewhat bragging because how lucky are we that we're
not freezing our butts off like so many other people
around the country. As we get out there and we
do our Christmas shopping big weekend for Chris Smith's shopping,
you probably notice that there's a lot more traffic on
the road.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
I definitely did coming in.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
It seems like the traffic is at all hours of
the day.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Did you get all your shopping done?
Speaker 3 (01:11):
No, absolutely not. Are you kidding.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Well, Amazon has definitely come in clutch lifea life saver.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
So my packages are en route.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
Let me say that my shopping is not done because
it hasn't arrived yet, but they're in route and I
plan to do more of that today and tomorrow and whatnot.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
But what about you?
Speaker 5 (01:30):
Uh, there is a narrow pathway in my hallway as
of right now because of all the packages that are
coming to my house.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
I love how we're just giving all of the would
be robbers the ammunition to just come and knock off
our houses.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
You know, well, I give them security code later, there.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
You go, they might have been I think Amazon actually
does that right. They have that garage service where you
can use them.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
Which which I do not use because I don't need
no stranger popping in my garage like that.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Can you imagine?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Absolutely not So if you're like myself, if you're like
Andrew Caravella and you're still out there doing your Christmas shopping,
or let's say you're out there seeing the Christmas lights
with the family or your date or whatever it might be,
by yourself. If you're like me and you like to
roll by yourself sometimes to things, whatever you do tonight.
(02:19):
Whatever you do tomorrow, you need to get out to
a Smarten final or a Wendy's to donate your money
because the fourteenth annual KFI Pastathon is still going on
until tomorrow night. You have until tomorrow night to donate
(02:42):
online at kfiam six forty dot com backslash Pastathon. You
have until tomorrow night to go into a Smarten finals
and share whatever you can right.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
There at the register.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
And you have until tomorrow night to go into your
Wendy's and donate whatever you want. But if you donate
five dollars or more, they will give something to you
at Wendy's and that will come in the form of
a coupon book with all sorts of free goodies in there.
To help Katerina's Club, Bruno Serrato and KFI pushed ourselves
(03:19):
over the limit from last year, over the tally from
last year. We are so very close to that number,
and with your generosity it continues to happen year after year.
Now into this fourteenth year. Let me tell you I
was at postathon and I met so many generous listeners
(03:39):
who not only were there for pastathon and for the
kids who live in hotels and motels and for that
job development and housing assistance that Katerina's Club has in place.
But they were also there as fans of KFI and
all of our hosts, and even some who were there
who recognized me and didn't think that I was just
(04:01):
some you know, some straggler there. They actually knew who
I was and came up and complimented the show. So
thank you so much for your kind words, for your gratitude,
and continue it. The pastathon ends tomorrow night. You have
time again. If you can't get out physically, you can
donate right there kfiam six forty dot com backslash Pastathon,
(04:25):
or at your local Wendy's and or if you want
to hit both of them up smart and final. Here
are some totals as of yesterday, Friday morning, So these
numbers have already gone up, so just hear this and
know that there's still more that's not yet counted. They
have collected those who are there doing this arduous work
(04:47):
to weigh all of this pasta eighty seven thousand pounds
of pasta and sauce eighty seven thousand pounds.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
That is a lot.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
And Bruno Serrato is going to make magic with that
for these kids who live in hotels and motels around
southern California. In addition to all of that pasta and sauce,
let me tell you how much money has come in
because of your generosity.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
So far, we are over one million.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Sixty two thousand, two hundred eighty four dollars. Did you
hear that you have given over over more than one million,
sixty two thousand, two hundred and eighty four dollars toward
Bruno Serrato and Katerina's Club and kfi's efforts for this
(05:43):
annual pastathon. Again, get out there, give, give, Give, it
all goes.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
To Katerina's Club.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
One hundred percent of it will help impact the lives
of these kids.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
And we have a lot more show to talk about.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
But instead of giving you more of that, I'm going
to tease you and tell you come back because I
have a lot more updates for you about stories around
the Southland and internationally, including what's going on with that
Norms restaurant right over there in West Hollywood. Will it
become a raising Canes? I'll let you know. Sadly, there's
(06:20):
a story about a diver in the Port of Long Beach.
I have some updates about what's going on in that story.
And I'm certain you heard about the CEO who was
assassinated on Wednesday from United Healthcare. Well, the story just
keeps unfolding, and I have some more news for that.
We have a special guest, James Christian and studio at
six point thirty to talk about his beautiful organization, Teach one,
(06:43):
Reach one and if we're if we can't get him
in studio, we'll get him on the phone, actually, but
he'll be with us, and we have a lot more
show in between times. Stay here, come back right after
this KFI AM six forty Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
I'm Tiffany Hobbs. This is Saturday with Tiffany until seven o'clock.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
You're listening to KFI AM six forty on demand kf I.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
AM six forty Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app on
Tiffany Hobbs, and this is Saturday with Tiffany. I'm here
with you until seven o'clock. In the last segment, I
was telling you that this first half of the show
will deal with a lot of updates. There have been
stories I've talked about their stories that are certainly in
(07:28):
the news. They span local and internationally. But one of
the stories that is most affecting us right here in
the Southland in Los Angeles, has to deal with a
beloved institution, a restaurant that people have been going to
for over sixty years. And while there are numerous locations
(07:52):
for this restaurant around southern California, this location on Los
Sienaga between Bevere and Sunset Boulevard happens to be the
most famous. Some might call it infamous, but definitely popular
location of all of the restaurants. And what restaurant am
(08:12):
I talking about?
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Norms? What's going on with Norms?
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Well, last week I told you Norms was under an
imminent threat to be replaced with a Raising Canes fry
chicken restaurant. Now you like my, you like my, You
might like Raising Canes and that's fine, But regardless, seeing
an institution something that's been in that same location for many,
(08:38):
many years jarred the community. There were petitions, there were
online conversations at nauseum about this location and what could
potentially happen if a Raising Canes was put in its place.
And it just so happens that the parent company for
Raising Canes owns the land that this Norm's sits on.
(09:01):
So when the lease for NORMS was expected to be
up in twenty twenty seven, Canes was going to take
over and they were going to replace that existing NORMS
location with new insignia that says Raising Canes and Norms.
As we knew, it was going to go by the wayside. Well,
there was a meeting that was supposed to happen, a
(09:23):
Cultural Heritage Commission meeting this previous Thursday. That meeting ended
up not happening, and here's why. Raising Canes announced on
Wednesday that it will no longer present its case to
take over the NORMS at four seventy North Los Sienega Boulevard.
(09:47):
Did you hear that they presented their case to say
that they would no longer work to replace NORMS with
the Raising Canes.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
They said that they were not even going.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
To appear at this Cultural Heritage Commission meeting on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Again.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
This location nineteen fifty seven is when it was built,
saw a lot of people arguing about its historical and
cultural significance, and after news broke that Raising Caines was
considering taking it over, the public went wild. Raising, Caines
said in a brief letter after hearing and reading all
(10:27):
of these statements, quote, we have heard the community's concerns
and we are in discussions with Norms about the future
of the site.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
I think we know what really happened here.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
What happened.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
I think last week you really got the ball rolling
here with your segment.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
I think you're right because I was the only person
in LA radio talk and I know this for effect
talking about this story, Andrew, so you're not wrong.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
Yeah, I mean, and I was there for it too.
I feel like we should get a reward of some kind.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
I think we should.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Do you want raising kines because you said you liked that.
I said, okay, okay.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
I remember what you said.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
I remember what side of the fence you were on,
Andrew Caravella, Okay, I didn't find them. I'm like an
elephant over here. And again, we talked about it last week.
No one else was talking about this, and after Saturday
it seems that the conversation really saw an uptick. A
lot of people express their discontent. Now here's a caveat,
(11:32):
and this worries me a bit. Raising Canes has not
said how it will proceed with that property, or whether
it will even continue to lease it to Norms. That
opens up a lot of ambiguity. What that means is
we don't know what's going to happen once the lease
(11:56):
runs out. Right now, Raising Kines is saying they're not
going to move on replacing Norms with the Raising Canes.
But right there in that statement, they don't know what
they're going to do or if they're even going to
continue to offer a lease two Norms. So once that
lease runs out, who knows what might happen. Raising Canes
(12:18):
might just pull out all together, They may sell the land.
We can surmise and hypothesize, but I think that this
is a short term win, and I think that this
gives a lot of credence and validation to the voices
of those of you who were listening in southern California
around the country on iHeartRadio, who are aware of this
(12:41):
institution of Norms and or have seen places you love
erased and you wanted to step in and say no.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
I will not have it. You will not do this.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
You will not continue to essentially pave over our memories
and our heritage and our historical aspects in the city
of Los Angeles with corporatization.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
I think you were heard.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I applaud you for sharing and lending your voice to
this cause, and I urge you to continue staying involved
in your local news, because that's the way that you'll
allow change and help change to actually happen. When we
come back, i'll tell you a bit about what's going
on over at LAX. You might have gone out of town,
(13:29):
and guess what you might have unintentionally brought back a
gift that keeps on giving. Now, when I say that
there are lots of possibilities of what that gift could be,
I will clear up exactly which gift I'm talking about
and why you really don't want this one either. I'm
also going to give you again some updates about this
Los Angeles firefighter who went diving recreationally at the Port
(13:53):
of Long Beach on Wednesday, and sadly he is still missing,
but I have some details therein and then.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
We're going to get into what's going on with Waimo.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
There's another Weai Moo update all this local news before
we get to some really big stories around halfway through
this entire hour, but we'll get to it shortly. KF
I AM six forty Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.

You're listening to KFI AM six forty on demand KFI AM.

Six forty Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Tiffany Hobbs here with you.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
It's Saturdays with Tiffany five to seven o'clock and we
are rolling.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
We are going. We have a lot to cover.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
I'm giving you some updates about stories that are happening
locally because.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
In a little while I'm going to get into.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Arguably the biggest story in the country, the United CEO,
United Healthcare CEO, who was assassinated this previous Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
Lots of details therein.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
And some other angles that I will take, some other
ideas that I have that you might not have considered
or heard considered as of yet. But in coming back locally,
right here at home, Lax of course, saw its biggest
year ever. It's always the biggest year ever every year.
(15:20):
It's more and more travelers on the holidays, breaking records
like crazy.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
Well that's not the story.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
The story, unfortunately has to do with what travelers, not
all but some brought back with them from their Thanksgiving vacation.
Not talking about leftovers, have to throw those out anyway,
probably per tsa not talking about people, even I'm talking
about something more biological, something really undesirable. And I'm sure
(15:53):
your wheels are turning. But let's let this clip explain
exactly what happened when travel passed through LAX this past
Thanksgiving weekend.
Speaker 6 (16:04):
A huge health scare for travelers at LAX. They may
have been exposed to a highly contagious disease during last
week's Thanksgiving rush. Health officials say that a traveler infected
with measles was in the Bradley International Terminal the day
before Thanksgiving.
Speaker 7 (16:20):
The pastor arrived on a Qatar Airways flight KTLA Fight's
Omar lewis reporting now from LAX.
Speaker 8 (16:26):
This exposure happened during one of the busiest travel weeks
of the year. Into La County Public Health officials confirming
this measles case involved a traveler passing through Terminal BE
the International Terminal on the day before Thanksgiving, potentially infecting
other passengers on the same flight or people who were
in the International terminal that afternoon. In a statement, the
(16:48):
Los Angeles County Department of Public Health says the measles
case involved a quote non resident traveler who passed through
LAX on November twenty seventh. Officials say the person arrived
on Cuttome Airways fight QR zero seven three nine at
Terminal B and was in the airport between twelve thirty
pm and six pm that day. This exposure comes as
(17:09):
LAX saw record holiday travel, putting hundreds, if not thousands,
of passengers at risk. According to the Department of Public Health,
measles is highly contagious, spreading through the air and on surfaces,
especially among those not vaccinated. Local health officials, along with
the CDC, they're now working to contact passengers who may
have been exposed. They say symptoms can develop seven to
(17:32):
twenty one days after exposure and include high fever, running nose, cough, red.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Eyes, and a rash.
Speaker 8 (17:38):
Doctors are now stressing the importance of vaccination.
Speaker 9 (17:41):
If you are someone who has not received the vaccines
or is too young to get the vaccine, that puts
you at higher risk.
Speaker 10 (17:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (17:49):
Like I mentioned, musles is so incredibly infectious that if
you walk into a room and there's ten unemunized people,
nine of them would get infected.
Speaker 8 (17:57):
The statement from The La County Department of Public Health
went on to note that the MMR vaccine is ninety
seven percent effective with two doses, and with measles cases
more than doubling nationwide this year, officials are urging anyone
who may have been exposed to review vaccination records and
speak to a doctor. We spoke to a traveler here
at LAX today who says news of this measles case
(18:18):
at the airport is exactly why she tries to take
precautions to protect herself, especially while traveling.
Speaker 9 (18:25):
Very important, and you protecting your sound, and you protecting
the community, and you know every people around you.
Speaker 8 (18:35):
And official say, if you were at the international terminal
during that time or on that same flight, you should
monitor your health closely right now, and if any symptoms
do develop, contact your doctor.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Great, just great.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Right you left, you went to go see grandma, you
went to go see your family, whatever the case.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
You get a few days off of work, you're really
looking forward to it.
Speaker 2 (19:00):
And now you come home and you're infected with measles.
Because this is the archaic ages, Apparently these are unprecedented
times as we are living in and continue to live in.
Everything seems to be unprecedented. Measles is back, not that
it ever actually fully went away, but it certainly wasn't
(19:22):
as present or prevalent as this story is saying it is.
And did you hear how easily spread it is? They said,
it spreads just in the air, so it's airborne. Oh great,
you're on a plane where that air is recycled and
circulating around the plane. Good luck to you. And here
(19:43):
are the dates they told you to look out for.
Pay attention to this because if you left around November
twenty seventh on or let's say, on November twenty seventh,
that was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Kayla, you were out
of town.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Did you leave on Wednesday? No, November twenty seventh.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
I left on Tuesday, Oh, November twenty sixth okay, and
I drove, Okay, and you drove.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Yeah, I'm a so different. You're okay. But how many
people do you know actually left that Wednesday?
Speaker 4 (20:11):
A few people?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
A few, a few people.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
And they're saying if you were in Terminal B, which
is a large terminal, anywhere between twelve thirty pm and
six pm on Wednesday, November twenty seventh, you could have
been exposed. Could have been exposed. And here's the thing.
You wouldn't even fully know if you were exposed, because
(20:36):
symptoms for measles don't develop for a week to three
weeks after the initial exposure.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
I did some quick math. We are right in the middle.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
It's day ten since November twenty seventh, so if you're
looking at seven to twenty one days after exposure, you
are right in the middle. If you were at lax
in terminal B, symptoms include again high fever, so you're going, oh,
I'm not feeling so well. It's a little hot in here.
If you have a high fever, if you have a
(21:08):
runny nose, a cough, red eyes or done undone a rash,
which I think is the last symptom to present itself,
you need to get yourself to the doctor. Do not
go out tonight and donate anywhere. Donate online to pastathon.
Do not go to a smartin finals tonight. If you
were exposed, Do not go to a Wendy's. You donate online,
(21:31):
You stay your butt right there at home. You get
yourself to a doctor asap, because this is serious.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
And here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
We have a new Department of Health Services. I believe
I don't know his exact title, but he is the
new Svengali of health services in our country, Robert F.
Kennedy Junior, And he himself has said quite a few
inflammatory things about vaccines, and we can argue what he
believes or what he doesn't, but there are quite a
(22:00):
few people who latched on to some of the more
inflammatory statements about vaccines. And as the story just said,
the numbers of vaccinations are going down in the United States.
And it's not only the newest COVID vaccine, No, it
has to do with the MMR rubella vaccine as well
(22:21):
that covers measles. So there are a lot of people
out there walking around, possibly unvaccinated and in great risk
of contracting this unfortunate.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Disease.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Great, what a wonderful Thanksgiving. Now you're home with your
family and you've infected your family with measles right at
the holidays.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Horrible. Do not go out.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
You donate online to the postathon k if I am
six forty dot com backslash postathon. That's where you're giving
your money and then you're gonna get yourself to a
doctor asap.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
When we come back, I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
The really sad and unfordate update about this LA Fire
Department recreational diver who went missing in the Port of
Long Beach last Wednesday. There are some new deats that
I want to share with you. And then do you
use those autonomous taxis, the ones where you look over
(23:18):
and no one's driving those funny looking little white cars
with the spinning things everywhere, Well, if you thought it
was gonna go or they were going to go by
the wayside, you will be very upset because those cars
are here to stay. They have been approved. They are
LA's and Southern California's newest taxi service available to you.
(23:41):
Should you want to do that, I don't know if
I want to take that risk. We'll talk about it
when we come back. KFI AM six forty Live everywhere
on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Tiffany Hobbs here with you.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
You're listening to KFI AM six forty on demand KFI AM.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Six forty Live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app Tiffy Hobbs
here with you till seven. Okay, we have some local
updates about stories that are affecting us right here at home,
and this next story is especially upsetting. And my thoughts
and my prayers definitely go out to the people affected
(24:18):
by this story.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
Before we get.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Into the story, however, we have a couple of talkbacks
from some listeners who are weighing in about what I
was previously talking about in terms of measles at LAX.
One listener is admonishing me, and I understand why, but
I'm here to say, you don't know how people travel,
you don't know where they're going, so you know, think
(24:43):
about that also.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
But I do love when you weigh in.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
I appreciate when you're listening and when you are engaging
with me, and please you do not always have to
agree with me, but please continue to listen.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
RAU, what can we plan?
Speaker 10 (24:56):
You have to point out that this actually the measles
is actually a vaccine, whereas COVID was never a vaccine.
They keep calling it that. A vaccine is when you
get the disease. If you've already got the vaccine, you
don't get the disease. If you've had the vaccine, you
never get the disease. Again, that's a vaccine. COVID is not,
but this one is, and you should point that out.
(25:18):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
I think he did a pretty good job of pointing
it out right. I'm not fully sure I follow completely
the parallels that were being made.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
But again, I thank you for listening.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
I absolutely do, and I hope you weren't at terminal
B All right, let's do it.
Speaker 11 (25:36):
But Tiffany, pay attention.
Speaker 9 (25:38):
Yes, ma'am, they said it was a Tom Bradley terminal.
That is the International terminal at lax Okay.
Speaker 7 (25:45):
I doubt if you were getting away for just a
couple of days to see Grandma.
Speaker 9 (25:49):
If you were at the International terminal.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
You don't know where, people, I'm not trying to scare people.
This isn't fear mongering. You don't International terminal could also
be right over there to Canada, right over there to Mexico.
People only have a few days. They could be going
away for a couple of days.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Okay, you don't know.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
I mean that's what I would like to do, be
able to kind of hop skip and jump around wherever
I like over the course of a long weekend. So
but thank you for listening. I appreciate it. I think
we have one more Raoul.
Speaker 12 (26:18):
Hey, Tiffany, I just wanted to tell you that you
should quit your date day job because you're awesome.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Oh, thank you.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Check is in the mail. Thank you so much for that. No, honestly,
I appreciate you listening. Again, I do not expect everyone
to agree with me, but I do want you to
listen because I do want you to engage with these
conversations and use that talk back button right there on
the iHeartRadio app to share what you're thinking, whether again,
(26:49):
you're in agreement with me or you are vehemently opposed
to what I'm saying. Let us hear what you have
to say. And I think it's thirty seconds or less, Kayla,
thirty seconds or so.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
Yep, that's it. There you go, There you go, and
you might get on air. You never know.
Speaker 2 (27:02):
Don't curse. That's a much higher likelihood that you'll be
on air. Don't curse. Okay, all right. Next story, very
sad story, very tragic story out of Long Beach, the
Port of Long Beach. There's a firefighter, twenty seven year
old young man who loves to excuse me. Twenty nine
year year old young man named Connor Lee's who dives recreationally.
(27:28):
You know these people, you see them, They're very brave.
They'll dive off of anything, whether it's a diving board
or something else, but they love diving. They do this
for fun. They're skilled swimmers, they know what they're doing.
And this Connor Lee's, twenty nine years old, is also
an LA City firefighter, an off duty firefighter at the time,
(27:51):
but a firefighter. Nevertheless, bravery is a core tenant of
what this young man is about. So that he is
involved in such a tragic situation has a lot of
people perplexed, including me, as to what possibly happened. Raoul.
We have some audio about this story because the LAFD
(28:14):
dot org actually Lafiredepartment dot org has released quite a
bit of information and updates about this story. And before
we get to the audio, I just want to point
out that Connor Lee's has been a part of the
fire station number ninety four in the Baldwin Hills Krinshaw community.
(28:36):
You might have seen him on the fire truck driving by.
He might have been someone who stopped into your local
coffee shop or restaurant, and he, unfortunately is now missing
in this really tragic situation.
Speaker 12 (28:49):
Brus are searching for a missing diver at the Port
of Long Beach. The man has been identified as twenty
eight year old Los Angeles Fire Department a Fire Department
firefighter who was off duty.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
He went missing. He was going digging with his friends.
Speaker 12 (29:01):
Live witnesses of Porter of Sin Garcia is live in
Long Beach with the latest developments.
Speaker 7 (29:06):
This drama began to vote last night about ten o'clock.
Let me stip out of the way here you can
see that these search boats are still out there looking
for the veteran firefighter, and the LA City Fire and
Long Beach Fire are still calling this a search and
rescue mission. There were four guys on a boat last
night that went out near the port of Long Beach.
(29:27):
Three free divers went into the water, but only two resurface.
The missing diver is a six year veteran of the
Los Angeles City Fire Department. Search and rescue teams from
Long Beach, LA Seal Beach, and the US Coast Guards
search for the missing firefighter all night and today. The
area where the search is going on right now is
closed to all boats, but it's not that are not
(29:48):
involved in the search. We've learned that the missing diver
comes from a firefighting family. Friends and family were here
waiting to hear updates on the search all day Earlier
this afternoon, La City Fire Chief Christin Crowley talked about
how painful it is for the entire firefighting family waiting
for news of their missing firefighter. Here's what she had
(30:09):
to say.
Speaker 13 (30:11):
We've been actively engaged with his immediate family, friends, colleagues.
It's a very well supported and loved family around the region.
So with that, we've been side by side with them,
offering support, love, we're giving them real time information for
their loved one as well.
Speaker 11 (30:27):
This is hitting the fire family very hard. We've been
working throughout the night with our partners from Long Beach
and numerous other agencies, so we do have our peer
support has been notified, so our peer supporters out there.
We have some clinicians out there, we have therapy dogs.
We're out there. We're supporting our firefighters, We're supporting the family,
and this is hitting the entire fire community very hard.
Speaker 7 (30:52):
During this entire search, there could be as many as
twenty four divers looking for them missing diver. Again, we're
told they went are diving last time, which is diving
without any scoopiger and again La City Fire and Long
Beach Fire are still calling and let's say search and
rescue operation.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Unfortunately, as of yesterday, Friday, four pm, all search efforts
and recovery efforts had in fact or have in fact
been called off.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
It is now.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Presumed that Firefighter Connor Lee's twenty nine is presumed at
or lost at C and he is lost at C.
What a horrific story, Absolutely horrific. And again there's no
absolutely no good time for this. But you think about
the holidays, and this happens just weeks before Christmas, right
(31:46):
after the family likely gathered. What a horrific story. So
our our thoughts and our prayers are definitely with Firefighter
Lee's family. It's just there are no other words for
if anything else should happen. I'll definitely let you know
when we come back and tell you a little bit
about what's going on with Waimo, the autonomous robotaxi now
(32:09):
officially a taxi service in LA.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
Will you be riding in it?
Speaker 2 (32:13):
And I'll give you some information about why I think
you shouldn't, but it's totally up to you. And then
we're gonna dig really deeply into this United Healthcare CEO shooting.
I'll give you some facts, things we know, things that
we are finding out along the way, and some ideas
