Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, it's Neil Savedra. You're listening to KFI EM six
forty the four Report on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
Hey everybody, it's The four Report, all Things Food, beverage
and beyond. I am your well fed host, Neil Savedra.
How do you do? Thanks for hanging out today. We
only have thirty minutes more together today or so just
under that because you've got the Chargers coming aboard. You

(00:23):
got Matt money Smith calling the game here on KFI
and the pregame, and then you've got our very own
Shannon Farrin, so go know where. That does pre empt
Michael Monks and of course Tiffany as well, so you'll
be enjoying the game and then next week things should
be back to normal. All right. So, hey, I really

(00:46):
liked Warren. You know, I remember about eight years ago
because The four Report's been on since, gosh for fifteen years.
I think now. I remember eight years ago when they
started Black Restaurant Week here in life Los Angeles, and
I just think that we're incredibly lucky to have. You know,

(01:09):
I've traveled a lot of places in this world, and
you know, you go to Thailand, there's basically two foods,
Italian and Tayphood. It's funny we called it Titalian. There
was actually a restaurant where the menu had a front
side that was tay food, and then when you flipped

(01:31):
it and reversed the menu, it was Italian food. And
there is a lot of there are a lot of
places where they are not as diversified culturally as we
are here in Southern California, and so to be able
to have the flavors of different cultures is always, I think,

(01:53):
a point of pride. And you know, for those of
us who like to adventure via food rather than I
don't know, climbing or a rock wall or something, it
we're very lucky that way. So in whether it's Orange
County in San Diego or here in Los Angeles proper,
or any of those things, take a day trip. Check

(02:14):
these things out and find out more about Black Restaurant
Week at Black Restaurantweeks plural dot com and then click
on the Los Angeles one. It's a great, great lineup
and a great way to explore foods. All right. Reminding
you again to join me on social media for the

(02:34):
Fork Report. You can find me at Fork reporter at
Fork Reporter food goofy stuff means dealing with food. I
curate it myself. It's a little old me. And then
my creative outlet, which is Savco Industries so SAA v
COO Industries on Instagram as well. And if you work

(02:57):
with your hands, or you're you know, an artist, a photographer,
work in the film industries, props, you're a make or
whatever it is, I'd love to follow you back so
you can join me there Savco Industries SAA v COO
Industries on Instagram as well. That's my newer one, and

(03:17):
put stuff that I'm doing, working on here at the house,
or product projects I'm doing and things like that. It's
a lot of fun for me, all right. So I
love chutros, I do, I do, I do? And Jack
in the Box is dropping. I know it's early. Uh
it's you know, we're in August and we're already starting

(03:38):
to hear about the fall stuff. But they're dropping their
pumpkin spice mini churos early if you are one of
their app users. So if you want, you know, pumpkin
spice this and pumpkin spice that, and you are okay
with it in August. The folks at food Beasts pass
this information along. It can be a nice place for

(04:01):
you to go enjoy yourself. So if you are an
app user and you enjoy these types of things, they
got these mini childres and I think that's a nice
balance because automatically Pumpkins spice has cinnamon in it. It
has cinnamon in it, it has clove in it, it
has these really lovely spices in it that are going

(04:22):
to go well with the light. Or actually it's sort
of dense pastry with the cinnamon sugar on the outside,
and you know, it's tasty and fun. So their five
piece order starts at a buck fifty nine. That's pretty inexpensive.
You can enjoy them a great snack. There no word

(04:45):
on how long they're going to be around, So if
you want to get in this, it's probably best to
do it. Get that app now, there's a lot of
that stuff with those apps. Or fast food restaurants. I
got to tell you. If you like fast food, and
I do. I enjoy fast food, and you like a
particular place, get on it. They all have great deals,

(05:06):
whether it's free five fries with purchase or things like that,
or in this case for Jack in the Box, the
pre access or whatever discounts and things like that. In
this case for those Pumpkin Spice Mini tuttos, get on
it because you will find that they tip you off
to all kinds of deals. They want you in their ecosystem.

(05:32):
Is the reality of it, and they're willing to pay
you for it. So to be in their ecosystem, you
get on those apps and they hook you up. I
was surprised at some of the things, some of the
discounts you can get on those apps. So if you've
got a favorite joint that you like to check out
all the time, or you go to you've you should

(05:53):
go ahead and get yourself on the app. In this case,
you're going to get heads up for specials. You're going
to get heads up when things are coming your way.
Sometimes it's the only way you can access certain things
like that, So get on that as well. Stick around.
We have one more segment to go again. We're going
to sign off a little early at the bottom of

(06:13):
this hour because we'll hand everything over to the pregame
with Matt money Smith for the Chargers and our very
own Shannon Farrin of course during the game, so go nowhere.
You've been listening to the Fork Report, you can always
hear us live on KFI AM six forty two to
five pm on Saturday and anytime on demand on the

(06:36):
iHeartRadio app. Just a few minutes, we have left about
sack six minutes to be exact, as we sign off
early today for the Chargers pre game and the Chargers
game coming up here on KFI, including our buddy Matt
money Smith from AM five seventy we're going to be
calling the game, and our very own Shannon Farren it's
going to be on the sidelines during the game as well,

(06:57):
So go know where. I've heard a lot of things
in the fifteen years or so i've been doing the
Foek Report about food and contamination problems and recalls and
things like that. I have never in my recollection had
to come on the air and tell you the US

(07:18):
Food and Drug Administration Administration issued a safety alert after
federal officials detected caesium one thirty seven in shipping containers
to four US ports. So this is shrimp, righted shrimp

(07:38):
sold at Walmart under great value and all these things.
What you ask is caesium one thirty seven? It is
radioactive contamination. Yeah, you know, three eyes glowing, the dark skin,
that type of thing. So it's their raw shrimp. The

(07:59):
great value is the one that is sold. I've purchased
these before. The great value it says raw shrimp, peeled vein,
tail off, that type of thing and others as well.
So keep that in mind. They are being taken off
the shelf. It depends where you live. Alabama, Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia,

(08:27):
and Washington State are some of the places. Some of
the brands are sandbar Arctic shores. Best yet of course
Great American and First Street. First Street, I believe is
a smart and final So just be aware of this,
that they are pulling these off the shelf. I don't

(08:49):
know how that how you get a radioactive isotope, you know,
a byproduct of nuclear reactions on food like that or
in food or in the container or whatever it is.
But that is a strange and a first for me,
that is damn sure. I don't remember ever having anything

(09:14):
like that. That is something to be looking out for
as well. I wanted to tell you Marongo, if you
haven't been out to Marongo in a while. We couldn't
even get a room there. It's been it's packed so often.
Really you want to spend time there, and you should
call ahead man make plans ahead of time, because they've

(09:34):
got that great pool there, they got the cavanas, they
have the lazy river, and there's only a handful of
places if that, that have a lazy river in southern
California to begin with. So that's pretty cool unto itself,
but when you're dealing with Marongo, a lot of people

(09:55):
forget just how amazing their food is. So we stayed,
my wife, my boy and me stayed out in the desert.
We've really been enjoying the desert. You've got Indio, you've
got palm springs, Indian wells. All these places really beautiful
and you can find deals, you know, just keep looking around.
You can find deals on places to stay. And we

(10:16):
couldn't get in on Marongo, but we wanted Morongo food.
So on the way back, we're like, all right, let's
make a pit stop at Marongo. Not only is it
a great place to you know, fill up your gas
tank because it's inexpensive there, but they're pink coffee. If
you've pink coffee is their pastry place, and their coffee

(10:38):
place right there, and their pastries are spectacular. They're absolutely amazing.
And you know, the food there is killer. You can
get take out pizza, all kinds of cool, great things there.
So I'm just a little reminder if you're out in
that area, or maybe you go out there to the

(11:00):
Caabazon outlets or something like that, pop in for some food.
It just it really is great what they're doing there,
Absolutely fantastic. Okay, another reminder, I'd love for you to
join me on social media I or remind you of
things that we're doing as well as some fun stuff
there at Fork Reporter at fork Reporter on Instagram. And
then my newest one is just the stuff I like

(11:22):
to do off the air, fixing stuff around the house,
replica prop making, fabricating stuff. I like making all kinds
of things and you know art, painting, drawing, illustrations, whatever.
And if you're into that kind of thing even just
looking at it, or you like to do it yourself,

(11:44):
follow me there at Savco Industries Savco Industries on Instagram.
All right, stick around, there is the game coming up.
