with the crash and Diamond Bar.It's going to be a mess for folks
that are making their way westbound alongthe sixty. Although getting word from CHP
right now that E lanes have beencleared of, but sixty west at Grand

the sixty towards UCR. Okay,if find this guy helps, good to
there faster. I'm Nick paul O'KINI. Okay, let's say good morning now
(06:12):
too. I believe it's ABC's KarenTraverse. Good morning, Karen. Yes,
hi there, So we are deepin the UN General Assembly meetings.
I just did a story about Zelenskiaddressing the UN General's Assembly, and of
course President Biden made his address tothe group yesterday. Tell us about it.
Yeah, you know, they hada kind of spiller message at these
(06:35):
certain things that President Zelenski was echoing. The President had said earlier in the
day, one thing before we getto the Ukraine part of it. The
President, you know, again toughwords with China, but saying that the
US wants to manage competition responsibly withChina so it doesn't tip into comflict.
But again that message from the Gtwenty summit earlier this month, talking about
(06:58):
China and developed countries and trying togive them better lending options for their infrastructure
and climate change projects. But onUkraine, very very harsh words for Russia,
the President saying that Russia believes theworld will grow weary and allow it
to brutalize Ukraine without consequence. Hesaid, if we allow Ukraine to be
carved up, is the independence ofany nation secure? He says, no.
(07:21):
Essentially, if it happens there andRussia is allowed to succeed, then
what is next? Which country isthe next one to be overtaken by Russia?
And Zelinsky has had a similar messagethat you know, if it's happening
here, it could happen to anybody. It could be turned on you,
and that's why the global community needsto continue to stand with Ukraine and offer
(07:44):
support. I think that they've gota point there, you know. I
mean, it's yeah, and theway that Putin's acting, he's just not
backing down at all and doubling downand making deals with the devil, and
so it's kind of scary. Sowhat did Biden maybe not talk about?
You know, it was a verywide ranging speed, So I think they
(08:07):
hit on everything that the administration hadteased ahead of time, preview ahead of
time, kind of went through alaundry list of all the partnerships that the
United States has entered into in thelast two and a half years under his
presidency. You know, big scenefor the White House going into this was
again reminding allies partners that under hispresidency, Joe Biden will say that America
(08:28):
is taking a leadership role on theworld stage. China still signal that shift
from the Trump administration, where thethe Trump administration got out of international agreements
and shifted away from some of thetraditional alliances. They say they're doing things
differently. Whether that means they're solvingthe problems that they say they're solving,
you know, remains to be seen. But it's certainly a big scene for
(08:52):
the President when he travels overseas andwhen he speaks of a world leader gathering
like the UN. Okay, now, today, President Biden has another meeting.
It's not in front of a biggroup. It's a one on one
with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Net andYahoo. But that's happening in New York
and not at the White House.Correct, Yes, it is happening in
(09:13):
New York on the sidelines of theUN General Assembly. Some critics are saying
it's a snub, you know,by not offering Net Yahoo the Oval Office
photo op and the meeting at theWhite House and all the customary droppings that
come with that. The President hadmet with the Israeli president earlier in the
summer. But you know, Bidenhas been critical of Net and Yahoo and
(09:33):
his government and calling it the mostextreme he's seen in Israel in his time
in politics. So it's not surprisingperhaps that he's not doing the White House
meeting. But they are still havingthis conversation this morning, Okay, and
then and then President Biden's heading backto the White House where he is going
to meet with Zelenski tomorrow. Correct, and that's tomorrow. Yeah, Zelenski
(09:54):
will be at the White House tomorrowand then up on Capitol Hill for meetings.
Not clear yet what that looks likeup on Capitol Hill. Kevin McCarthy,
the House Speaker, had indicated hemight not be meeting with him one
on one, It might be inmore of a group setting, but they
will. He will be up thereto lobby lawmakers from the House and Senate,
Republican and Democrats for funding for Ukraine. All right, Karen Travis,
(10:16):
thank you so much forgiving us thescoop on the un Have a great day.
Let's get back to some of thestories coming out of the KFI twenty
four hour newsroom. Striking writers andHollywood studios are going back to the bargaining
table. They're set to meet todayto try to end the strike that started
in May, so it's been likefour and a half months. The Writer's
Guild of America reached out last weekand asked for the meeting. Members of
(10:39):
Black Lives Matter LA are calling onelected official officials to terminate LAPD chief Michael
Moore. The group's leaders are accusingthe police Department of scandal, corruption and
of having murderous tendencies. Co founderof Black Lives Matter La, Molina Abdullah
says seventeen people have been killed atthe hands of LAPD this year and worries
about her her own son safety asa young black male. Now that my
(11:01):
son is five foot eight and hasbrought in shoulders in a deepened voice,
I become anxious about him coming homefrom middle school. The group packed the
LA Police Commission yesterday, demanding thatmeetings be made more accessible to the community.
LAPD was not immediately available for comment. Chris Adler KFI News, the
assistant chief of the LAPD's been placedon paid administrative leave pending the outcome of
(11:24):
a criminal investigation. On September seventh, a female employee with the department filed
a report with the Ontario Police Departmentclaiming al Lebrata was tracking her using an
air tag. Chief Moore told thePolice Commission yesterday he takes those allegations seriously.
We will continue to cooperate with theoutside agency as they continue their investigation
(11:46):
as well. As conductor internal investigation, The woman claims Lebrata placed the tracking
device in her personal belongings. Lebratadenies that allegation. Vanessa Bryant has joined
the fight to save an iconic downtowna mural of her late husband, Kobe
and their daughter Gianna. She saysshe'll do whatever she can to help.
The owner of Hardcore Fitness was givenuntil the end of this month to remove
(12:09):
the mural or pay her landlord tohave it painted over. I know I
may get on trouble for raising myvoice, but I'm gonna start for what
I believe. The mural went upshortly after Kobe and Gianna were killed in
that helicopter crash. The landlord wantsto put advertising on the wall. A
dispute between families at a courthouse inLancasters led to a shooting at a nearby
(12:30):
gas station and then a fight ata hospital. Eli Kinna Sheriff's department says
three deputies were hurt in the meleeyesterday. It's not clear if anyone was
arrested. The FDA has rejected thefirst needle free alternative to EpiPens. The
agency says more research is needed onthe drug called Nephi, which is an
ef nasal spray. The drug maker, AARs Pharmaceuticals says it's surprised by last
(12:54):
night's action and plans to appeal theFDA's request for additional data. An investigation
is underway following the death of aNew England Patriots fan. Witnesses say the
man was involved in a physical altercationSunday at the home game before he fell
over unconscious. Officials haven't said whetherthe death was related to the fight.
Results of an autopsy have not yetbeen released. The man's wife's as her
(13:18):
husband was a lifelong Pats fan andhad been a season ticket holder for thirty
years. A San Diego based sunglasscompany is making national headlines and making a
lot of money because of Colorado's headfootball coach d On Sanders. They have
a partnership now between the sunglass companyand the team. The college football season
(13:39):
has been insane for us so far, especially after we decided to partner with
Coach Prime and the Colorado Buffaloes astheir preferred sunglass partner. Sanders, known
as Coach Prime, has been wearinga special version of Blenders sunglasses. Terry
Snyder with Blenders based in San Diego, says the company has received a huge
boost in sales the last few weeksbecause of it. Right now, let's
(14:03):
say good morning to the host ofRich on Tech right here on KFI,
Rich Demiro, Hey, good morning, Amy. Nobody's ever introduced me like
that. I like that sounds nice. Really, Yeah, you deserve a
great introduction. I love it.Okay, I'm gonna require it. Next
week. You're gonna go. God, that sucked, okay, Rich.
(14:24):
iOS seventeen is out. That meansthere's new goodies. Tell us about what
they got. Yeah. So Appledropped a whole bunch of software updates,
and if you own more than oneApple product, you might have spent some
time this week updating them. Ifyou haven't done it already, I'd recommend
you don't have to wait. Imean, some people don't like change.
There are some changes, but thereare a lot of them are under the
(14:45):
hood, so you'll notice them slowlybut surely. But let me tell you
about a couple of them. iOSseventeen. Number one thing you're going to
notice is this new feature called contactPoster. So when you call someone,
you show up on their iPhone ina big picture with your name, and
you can customize what this looks liketo other people on their iPhone. So
(15:05):
the first thing you want to dois go into your contacts and just edit
your contact card. And you mightwant to update your photo because if you
have an old picture in there foryourself, like my wife called me and
it was all like just you know, really weird looking because it was just
like so old school, like thepicture was tiny and now it's on this
big screen. So use a newpicture. Oh, I just looked at
(15:26):
mine. I have a picture fromthe Galapagos that was like five years ago.
Yeah, so you may want toupdate that because when you call someone
else's phone now, that picture willbe shown and it may be really tiny
or it'll just be stretched out ontheir screen, so it'll look really weird.
Okay. So this also goes intoanother feature called name drop. Now
you can take two iPhones, holdthem next to each other or you know,
(15:46):
front or top to top, andyou can exchange phone numbers with someone.
And this is really really handy becauseyou know, it's kind of like
a business card, except you don'tneed that anymore. You know what that
is, That's what you used todo with a black Berry. Yeah,
yeah, Bump, remember that waswhat it was. There was like an
app called Bump as well. Soyeah, I remember thinking this is the
(16:07):
coolest thing ever. And then Blackberrieswent out of existence. Yeah, everything
old is new again, you know. Yeah. I like that one.
That's cool. Another handy feature iscalled check in. This is really good
if you're let's say you're leaving abar and your friend says, hey,
text me when you get home, and you forget to text them, of
course, and they're like, allright, well, I guess I'll figure
out what happened in the morning. And so this this will actually you check
in before you leave. You say, okay, I want to text my
(16:30):
friend when I leave, and itwill automatically follow your journey, and when
you get home, it'll text yourfriends say, uh, they got there
safely. If that doesn't happen,it will initiate a whole set of things
where it can show where you areon a map. It will you know.
It's just it's a really nice safetyfeature. Oh okay, I like
that one. And this is thenew I Is this an auto update?
(16:51):
Uh no, it'll you'll see itin your settings if you go in your
software update in settings, it'll sayother options at the bottom. Upgrade to
iOS seventeen. Because Apple has madeit so that you don't necessarily have to
update to the latest, they willstill give you security updates even if you
don't do the new the new majorupdates. Oh okay, oh look it's
it's available. Upgrade just one more, Let's do two more features. FaceTime
(17:18):
reactions. You can like do likea thumbs up and FaceTime and it'll send
like a thumbs up bubble. Oryou can do a piece sign. It'll
do balloons. Two piece signs willdo confetti. There's also a new standby
mode, so if you turn yourphone when it's charging on its side,
it'll have like a photo display ora calendar whatever you want on there.
And then finally, when you wantto crop a photo, now you can
(17:38):
just zoom in on it and you'llsee a little crop button in the upper
right hand corner. You can nowtap that to crop the photo. It's
a feature I know that Samsung hashad for years, and so you know,
just give a little shout out tothem. But now it's on the
iPhone. Apples catching up. Okay, that's cool. Those look like fun
and things that I can actually useYes, I think so. So Google
(18:03):
has a version of chat GPT thatcan help make your life easier when it
comes to searching for stuff. Huh. Yeah. So the big thing about
chat GBT is that it's not connectedto the Internet and so when you ask
it stuff, it may not knowthe you know, the right answer,
that's if it's current. So Googlethere there's their AI is called bard b
A R D. So if youwant to try it out, go to
(18:25):
Bard dot Google dot com and yeah, you can search all the stuff that
you would do on chat GBT,but it also is connected to the Internet,
so you can say like who wonthe game last night or whatever.
But the new feature they have isit can actually go into your Gmail and
use that as a source, notjust your Gmail but also your documents stored
on Google Drive. So what doesthat mean. Well, you can analyze
(18:47):
your Gmail so you can say thingslike, hey, Bard, you know,
give me the updates that I needto know about my kids school this
week, like what's happening or what'sthe name of the school play? Or
you know, what did my bosswhat my favorite Amy? I said,
Hey, can you analyze all theemails between me and my wife and give
me the sentiment of our discussions, and it totally went through every email and
(19:08):
exactly explained our relationship. I thoughtthat was really wild. And what did
it say? That things are goodor needing? It said that things are
good so we should stay together, which I thought was good. Thank you
AI. But I sent the wholething to my wife. I'm not kidding.
It was like five paragraphs of analysisfrom like you know, day one,
and I said, overall, thesentiment of emails is overwhelmingly positive and
(19:30):
loving. You clearly cared deeply abouteach other, and your emails reflect that.
How cute is that? I know? So now I gotta do it
my boss and see, like whatI don't know if I'm ready for that
one. Just don't share with yourboss what it finds out. Yeah,
exactly. Okay. Amazon has anew version of just walk about for clothes.
Yeah, this is just walk out. So have you okay? So
(19:52):
have you been to one of thoseAmazon stores where you just walk out or
no? Like, no, wehaven't. Okay, so you're aware of
it, right, yes? Okay? So they have that in their grocery
stores in the LA area. There'sa bunch of them. We're basically you
just pick stuff off the shelves andyou walk out. And that's using cameras,
machine learning, artificial intelligence, allthis stuff to figure out that you
picked up a soup, which soupyou picked up, and you know you
(20:15):
didn't put it back on the shelf, and you walked out of the store
with it and they charge you afterwards. Okay, so that does not really
work for clothing because you know, people try on clothes, you know,
those things need to be in abox, they need to have a label.
And so they basically came up withnew RFID technology. RFID is a
radio frequency tag, so they puta special tag on clothing and now you
(20:36):
can just walk out with the clothesyou want after trying them on. They
tried this out up in Seattle attwo different arenas. They said, of
course people buy more, people useit, they love it, and it's
just frictionless so you don't really haveto think about checking out at a cashier.
You just walk out. Okay,so that's going to be really interesting
when someone tries to smash and grabwell, Amy, I know, isn't
(20:56):
it sad that we live in laand this is how we think because now
it's just like, oh, smashinggrabs are cool because we'll just charge you
for that. It's going to reducethe store shrinkage, right, Oh my
gosh, I mean it's so wild. I mean, in retail, shrinkage
is everything. I mean, I'veworked in retail, and of course,
you know, people walk out withstuff all the time. Now, let's
be honest with this. You haveto have a card on file. Obviously
(21:18):
it can't just you know, butI mean, it's just it's kind of
interesting. Yeah. Okay, Sobefore we go, I have to share
a tech thing that you probably alreadyknow, but it's something that somebody somebody
sent to me and I just gotsuch a kick out of it. So
if you go to Google and searchdog, okay, and then you'll see
a picture of a dog and alittle paw comes up in the upper upper
(21:44):
left hand corner. I see it, oh, right hand corner. Right,
Oh, mine's on the left.Weird time. Okay, Well,
anyway, touch the touch the paw, yeah, and it goes. And
you can do it with cat too. So if you search cat and then
you love it, you hit thepaw and then a cat doog comes up
and goes marrow. Oh now myentire cursor. Anywhere I tap as it,
(22:06):
it puts a paw print. Ohit's not just when you so the
first time I guess is to activateit. Now I've Paul prints all over
my screen. This is really funny, and you've actually taught me something.
So Amy, I know there's alot of Easter eggs on Google. You
can actually my son loves finding thesethings. I don't think he's found this
one. I love this. Okay, good so, and it's great for
pet owners. Yes it is.I swear. I've shared it with everybody
(22:27):
and we just laugh and laugh becauseit's ridiculous. But okay, next stop
it. Oh and then it cleansit off. Oh my gosh, that's
funny. Little muddy paw prints aliveyour screen. Thank you so much.
Rich Jamiro the KTLA's tech reporter andalso a host of Rich on Tech right
here on KFI. You can listento him Saturdays from eleven am to two
(22:48):
pm with all the tech stuff youneed to know, and you can also
follow Rich on Instagram at rich onTech. His website is rich on Tech
dot TV. Thanks again, Rich, talk to you next week. Have
a great day. All right, right now, it's time for the biz
buzz z. Jane, Are yousinging? I am. I just think
(23:23):
Eric Losardo made that little ditty andit just cracks me up every time I
hear. Good morning, Amy King, Good morning, and welcome our CNBC
special correspondent, Jane. Well,so, Jane, we got lots to
talk about today, and we're goingto start out with the Fed and interest
rates. Are they going up again? Well? Probably not. The FED
(23:45):
is meeting today and they could raiserates that they could also cut them,
but most people think they're going tokeep them where they are right now.
The important thing is we want tohear what Sherman Powell has to say afterwards
in a news conference about the futureand whether you know rates could go up
again or is inflation coming down enoughto stop him from raising rates? And
for the Fed, even though inflationis still above the fed's goal of two
(24:07):
percent right now, inflation is runningabout three point seven percent. The problem
is we know we're seeing a lotof inflation and gas prices back up over
six dollars a gallon in southern California. Oil is over ninety dollars a barrel
as the Saudiast cut production. Andeven though we talked about this last time,
gas prices, energy prices are leftout of the monthly inflation numbers because
(24:27):
they move up and down too much. Well, the cost of gas goes
into the prices of a lot ofthings which are in that monthly data,
because say the washing machine you buyis more expensive because transforming it costs more.
So if oil prices stay high, and we've seen that effect continue into
the price of a lot of things, aflation will go back up and the
(24:48):
FED may probably start to raise ratesagain to cool down the economy. Great
in Gas prices in southern California areup again today, up another four cents
for La County to six o sevena gallon. It's it's still below the
record we had in October last year, where you know, with six forty
(25:10):
nine I think was the average, but you know, we were seeing it
over seven dollars from places. Butit's it, you know, That's the
one thing I think California's in particularnotice more than anything else, is what
happens with gas. You can goup, like you said, four cents,
and we're like, oh, youknow which in a gallon of gas
four cents ten gallons you know whatever. You're talking like a buck overall more
(25:33):
if you have twenty gat whatever.Well, but it's also fifty cents a
gallon more than it was a weekago. So I mean it's shooting up
fast. Well, yes, yesit is. And it's going to cost
you about the price of a lattemore to fill up your tank, which
is, if you put in thatperspective, it's not that big a deal.
But for some reason, we justgo bananas when we see it go
(25:56):
up. It's like, oh mygod. Okay, well, companies,
let's talk about going green. There'sa lot of companies talking about it,
but are they walking the walk? No? Heky next subject. There's this
whole thing in the Wall Street Journalthat and there's a big climate conference in
(26:21):
the UN this week, and GovernorNewsom is going to sign this bill which
will make large companies report their greenhousegas emissues. All these companies are big,
Oh, we're gonna be green,We're gonna be carbon neutral, mining
companies, airlines, oil companies. They're finding out, oh wait, we're
not going to meet those goals intime and amy one reason they said they
thought they could do it is they'regoing to buy these carbon offsets or carbon
(26:42):
credits. You know, I usethis much carbon, so I'm going to
buy a credit from somebody who doesn'tuse as much. Well, that markets
turned out to be murky and abunch of bologny, and so now all
these companies are like hum, maybewe can't depend on that to be neutral,
which I think it's fake way tobe neutral anyhow, Right, Okay,
(27:03):
so Instacart, it's a good dayto have instacart stock. Well,
it was yesterday. We'll see whathappens you years instacart, I never have
I use it. It was hugeduring the pandemic, and then when people
started going to the store restaurants again, it went down. So it hasn't
been a very good market for IPOson the stock market this year. But
(27:27):
Instacart went public yesterday. It startedat thirty dollars, shot up to forty
two, ended the day down atthirty four. So still up. I'll
see what happens to it the restof the week. It's down a little
pre market, but it's still aboveits IPO price. And this really is
a test over whether more companies wantto go public again. It's just investors
(27:48):
haven't been willing to go nuts overthese new companies because interest rates her up
and you know, the higher inflation. So it's one to watch it.
It had a very good Day's gonnawait and see what happens. I guess
what. Birkenstock is going public soons, So there you go. Wekes.
I used to when I lived inOregon. It was the thing. And
I just saw Birkenstocks in Nordstrom theother day. They've gone totally mainstream.
(28:15):
They have they thank women of coursefor their success, and yeah, they're
going to be going public too.So I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know what the growth isfor Birkenstocks, except I do not
like wearing heels anymore since the pandemic. I haven't either. I totally wear
flats, tennis shoes, flip flops. I'm done with heels, all right.

Jane Wells, thank you so muchfor your time this morning, and
hopefully we will check in with youagain very soon. But you can find
out the latest from Jane any oldtime on substack at Jane Wells dot substack
dot com. Thanks Jane. ByLet's get back to some of the stories
coming out of the KFI twenty fourhour News Froom. Governor Newsom is set
to address the United Nations Climate AmbitionSummit in New York. The summit was
(29:00):
created to accelerate action by governments, business finance, local authorities, and civil
society. Organizers say it's an issueof equity and climate justice that requires immediate
attention. News brought to you bySempersolaris dot com. Danny Masterson's wife has
filed for divorce following the actor's thirtyyear prison sentence for rape. ABC's Jason
Nathanson says ju Phillips cited irreconcilable differencesin court documents filed Monday. She's asking
(29:26):
for custody of their nine year olddaughter and spousal support, and she wants
to drop Masterson as her legal lastname. Shelsa says she'll allow him to
have visitation rights. The couple gotmarried in twenty eleven. They had a
daughter in twenty fourteen. Phillips stoodby Masterson during the rapecase and wrote a
letter to the judge in support ofher husband's character before he was sentenced.
Her attorney says her daughter remains herpriority. LA police say there's no evidence
(29:51):
to suggest the deaths of two modelsin downtown La are related. The women
were found dead in their apartments lastweek, within a couple of days of
each other. They lived about threemiles apart. One of the deaths has
been listed as a homicide. Theestimated jackpot for the next Megamillions lottery drawing
is up to two hundred five million. One tickets sold in Kentucky matched five
numbers last night, but was missingthe mega number. That ticket is worth
(30:12):
a million dollars. The next drawingis Friday, and the Powerball jackpot is
worth more than a half billion dollars. For tonight's drawing, there hasn't been
a jackpot winner since July win.Someone in California won that Whopper one point
zero eight billion. Tonight's drawing isworth an estimated six hundred seventy eight million
(30:32):
dollars. Right now, let's saygood morning to ABC's Jim Ryan. Good
morning, Jim. So the Marinesfound they're missing multimillion dollars jet but there
are a lot of questions about it. Yeah, and we may or may
not get many answers the military.I mean, you're dealing with a state
of the art weapons system that crashesin the woods. Is it likely we're
(30:53):
going to learn a lot of details. Probably not if it were a commercial
or a civilian aircraft, maybe, but not in this case. But suffice
it to say that the plane hasbeen found, or what's left of it.
I've seen an aerial image of thewooded area in South Carolina where it
went down, and there's just notmuch left to that plane, some broken
trees and stuff scattered around. Itappears to have simply disintegrated when it crashed.
(31:15):
How fast do those things fly?Very fast? I mean they can
go, you know, hit thespeed of sound. And it covered that
seventy miles or so from the pointthe pilot ejected until it crashed. It
covered that in about six minutes time. So it was hall and when it
headed up that after the pilot wentout. Okay, so here's my question,
(31:37):
which you just said. We're probablynot going to get answers too.
But the military is saying that thepilot before he ejected, put the autopilot
on. So why did it crashsix minutes later? Why didn't it just
keep going? Yeah? Well,at the same time, you know that
that means that the pilot had timeto think about that to saying, you
know, I'm gonna go ahead andset the autopilot here, turned that thing
(32:00):
on. It's kind of okay, our conditioning is off, okay, and
then fire the ejector this. Youknow, you think about an injection in
the constituation because it means that theplane is about to crash and unless that
pilot ejects, he or she isgoing to be killed in the crash.
So that makes more sense. Yeah, So you would think that's the situation
(32:21):
that you wouldn't have much time todo anything like like set the autopilot.
But that's what this pilot did.The only thing the Marine Corps has characterized
this as is as a is amishap in terms of the ejection of the
pilot. Why the pilot ejected amishap. They wouldn't say it was a
mechanical malfunction. They won't say itwas something else, just that it was
(32:43):
a mishap that forced the pilot toeject. Pilot walks down under a parachute
into a residential neighborhood and Charleston treatedat a hospital and released now and undoubtedly
will sit down with investigators today. As the debris gathered up there in South
Carolina. Here's another question, then, why didn't the wingman stay with the
jet? Why didn't You're the secondperson who's mentioned wingman. I haven't seen
(33:07):
anything about a wingman who was flyingalongside this one. So they go up
on their own. I thought theyalways had more than one going with them.
No, no, Nosari, theycan they you know, but it's
possible, and I simply haven't seenit. But I've seen nothing about a
second aircraft involved here, okay,And they f thirty five is a stealth
jet. So and they were saying, oh, well, we couldn't find
(33:29):
it. So, but does thathave to do with the stealth or because
for whatever reason, the transponder wasn'tworking both, you know both and the
altitude too. But you're right, the transponder wasn't set the pilot either,
you know, it was either itwas either turned off or had malfunctioned,
maybe didn't have electricity or something. But it's the transponder that communicates with radar
(33:50):
systems so that the radar screens lightup when this plane is is there within
range. But the plane was maybeflying at a thousand feet when the pilot
ejected, so it might not havegone much above that by the time it
crashed, which would have put itbelow most radar sets, and also the
transponder issues, so I think thatkind of explains why it was lost.
(34:12):
Yeah, for a fly over athousand feets, pretty cool for this instance,
not so great. Okay, oneO, one other question I'm curious
about. So the Marines grounded everybodyfor like two days, so they're gonna
start flying again today technically, right. I tried to back that up,
and that appears to be correct thattoday is the day they'd get back in
the air. This is the thirdincident involving the Marines here in the last
(34:37):
in the last month May twenty four, or rather, I'm sorry, August
twenty fourth, a Marine Corps Feighteen hornet crashed at San Diego. Pilot
was killed, and then shortly afterthat a Marine Corps osprey crashed and three
people were killed. So you knowthey've had some issues there. So the
Marines say, let's let's pause thisfor a couple of days and take a
(34:58):
look. I would think maybe itwould warrant a little more than a couple
of days. That's just my thought. Well, it worked fast and so
all right, Well, luckily thepilot's okay in this one, so that's
good. And the plane came downin an unpopulated area, so nobody was
hurt on the ground. That's evenbetter, all right, Jim Ryan,
thank you so much for your timethis morning. Thanks. Let's get back
(35:19):
to some of the stories coming outof the KFI twenty four hour newsroom.
A jury in Riverside has convicted anex con of fatally shooting his aunt and
seriously wounding an acquaintance during a disputeda family banquet. The jury took a
day to deliberate yesterday. The shootinghappened in twenty eighteen at an Elks lodge.
Abraham Bonilla was found guilty of attemptedmurder, being a felon in possession
(35:42):
of a firearm, and other crimes. He'll be sentenced in December. Black
Lives Matter LA says it wants LAPDchief More fired. The group's co founder,
Molina Abdullah says the department is corruptand murderous. We know that there
have been LAPD officers who were convictedof raping police cadets, and this is
all under Michael Moore's watch. SoMichael Moore must go the buck. Stops
(36:06):
with him. The group packed theLA Police Commission meeting yesterday, demanding future
meetings we moved to days and timesthat are more accessible to the public.
The LAPD has not responded to kifi'srequest for comment. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahoo and President Bidener said to meetin New York today. It'll be their
first meeting since Netnyaho took office asleader of his country's far right government late
(36:28):
last year. A few research pollssays most Americans are not confident in the
country's political system. Only four percentthink it's working extremely or very well.
Nearly two thirds have little or noconfidence in politics. The poll also shows
a favorable view of government is atan all time low. Close to sixty
percent say the federal government doesn't domuch for the people. Hey, if
(36:53):
you're looking for a little side hustlefor the season, maybe you want to
make a little extra money for theholidays. Amazon is adding sixteen thousand workers
to which warehouses in southern California atahead of the holidays. It's part of
a seasonal seasonal push to fill twohundred and fifty thousand jobs across the US.
(37:13):
The average starting pay for new employeesis twenty dollars and fifty cents an
hour, but in some areas basewages could be as high as twenty eight
bucks. Kind of cool, right, Oh, and when you're talking about
seasonal spending, we're being more cautiouswith our spending. US consumers are cutting
back on spending. You know, prices are high and going higher, and
(37:36):
gas prices six h seven a gallonin La County. But a new report
says the vast majority of adults havereduced spending over the past six months and
planned to continue cutting back as wehead into the holidays. So that could
be interesting for retailers who really relyon the holiday season to get in or
get out of the red for theyear. This is KFI and kost HD
