injured guard at the station yesterday morning. The guy shot was found about a
block away. Metro says a passengerpressed an emergency alarm, causing the train
to stop short of the station.LAPD Detective Megan Aguilar says the guy was
confronted by contract security guards in anotherpart of the station where he was pepper
(03:55):

(04:59):
morning to ABC's Peter Harlumbus. Peter, Tuesday was a day a lot of
people were waiting for Stormy Daniels tookthe stand, and since we can't hear
or see what's going on, weneed you to be our eyes and ears
on what it was like when theporn actress and the former president came face
to face yesterday. Yeah, itwas a stunning moment yesterday when they called
(05:21):
her saying the people call Stormy Danielsthe witness stand. It was stunning.
Though the testimony itself wasn't necessarily anynew details about the alleged sexual encounter,
it was remarkable to see Stormy Danielsand Donald Trump in the same room,
sitting just feet from each other, which is the first time they've seen each
other face to face in over adecade, and Daniels spared no details explaining
(05:45):
the alleged sexual encounter for the jury, providing graphic details of how she was
invited up to Trump Sweden two thousandand six, that they had a long
discussion. They had discussed the ideaof her possibly being on the Apprentice.
When she exited the the bathroom ofthis suite, you found Trump in the
bedroom where just his boxers and hisT shirt. Daniels gave graphic details of
(06:08):
the sexual encounter, saying that shedoesn't remember a portion of it. She
said she blacked out for a portionof it, though she wasn't on drugs
or drinking alcohol. She said sheremembered staring at the ceiling. She noted
that the foreign president didn't wear acondom. These were all details that the
defense lawyers, by the afternoon simplysaid had gone too far. The judge
admitted there were things that were betterleft unsaid during Daniels's testimony, though he
(06:30):
denied defense's requests for a mistrialey yesterday, but the entire context of it was
just remarkable. Donald Trump sat there. He often asked his lawyers to make
objections. At one point he wasaudibly cursing an earshot of the jury and
shaking his head. The judge hadto ask his lawyers to settle their client
down. But it was long.It was a kind of historic day yesterday
(06:54):
in court for Donald Trump. Andtell us about the feeling in the court.
Was it uncomfortable? Were the jurors, were they intrigued by it,
were they squirming because they didn't wantto hear it, or what was that
feeling like? I think at timesit was a bit uncomfortable. I think
Daniels speaks very quickly. She haspart of a kind of she speaks quickly
(07:16):
and in a gossipy way at timeswhere she provides a little too much information
to some questions that led to thejudge kind of cutting her off at times
and getting visibly frustrated. The judgeat one point said that Miss Daniels is
difficult to control. But when itcame to the actual allegations in the story
from Daniels, she was credible andthe jury appeared to be locked in.
(07:39):
Though it's hard for the moments whereshe's describing this. There was about a
ten minute back and forth during thedisrect examination where it was largely yes to
no questions about the sexual encounter.Given how graphic that details got, it
was kind of stunning and a bituncomfortable in the courtroom at least, you
know, looking across the gallery andat the jury. There was certainly a
(08:03):
lot of remarkable information to take inover a very short period of time,
Okay, And all the information thatpeople the jurors were taking in, none
of it was illegal. Yeah,it's a great point, and that's what
defense lawyers highlighted after the morning, after the course of lunch break, they
reminded the judge that this is acase of about falsifying business records and story.
(08:28):
Daniel's testimony has nothing to do withthat. The sexual encounter is only
relevant to the case because it's thething that Donald Trump attempted to cover up.
They went as far as saying thishas nothing to do with this case,
but Machan pushed back slightly. Hisreasoning here is that this is exactly
the story that Donald Trump tried tohide from voters ahead of the twenty sixteen
(08:48):
election. What the jury just heardin graphic detail is the story that Donald
Trump paid one hundred and thirty thousanddollars to cover up from voters out of
the twenty sixteen elections. So ina way, according to Michon, that
is what the testimony remarkably relevant tothe jury in this case, so they
could understand the full context of whatwas being hidden from voters. Though he
did admit the judge that there werethings better left un said based on that
(09:13):
morning testimony that got a little tooexplicit at times for his liking, okay.
And then what was what was herreaction to Donald Trump? Because we
heard that once the defense started crossexamining her, her demeanor changed and she
got combative and it really came outthat she does not like him at all.
(09:35):
Obviously, Yeah, you know,on direct examination, she was,
you know, pretty even handed. She perhaps answered questions a bit too fully,
but by the time cross examination camearound, it was combative and Daniels
was a very defensive witness on thestand. Trump's lawyers came out swinging the
first questions. They asked, wheredo you hate Donald Trump? She said
(09:58):
she does. Do you want tosee Donald Trump locked up in prison?
She said? She wants Donald Trumpto be held accountable. Daniels was honest.
I mean, the animosity there isnotable. It is clearly there,
and she didn't hide that from thejurors. It's unclear if that animosity discredits
her it anyway. We'll have tosee. But there were times in which
(10:20):
that cross that in which she losther cool during that cross examination, raising
her voice, getting very combative andtrying to defend her actions which she argued
were fully justified given the context ofDonald Trump's conduct. So the tone definitely
shifted. We'll see how it goeswhen it ticks up on Thursday morning.
I expect we'll have a lengthy crossexamination come Thursday. Okay, so she's
(10:43):
back on the stand again. Andhere's a question. It's a legal question,
so I don't even know if youcan answer it. But she signed
that NDA. They give her theone hundred and thirty thousand dollars, and
then I saw a letter that shedenies any involvement or any affair of any
kind with Trump. Like in sevendifferent instances or five different instances, did
(11:03):
she get into more trouble by comingon the stand and then saying yes,
we did have an affair after shesigned something saying we didn't and was paid
money to basically make it go away. That's a great question. So the
NBA that she signed with Donald Trumpin twenty sixteen penalized her one million dollars
for each breach of the contract. It got to the point in which the
(11:24):
functionally the contract was null envoid, where Cohen and Trump decided not to enforce
it. But what Daniels will haveto do on Thursday is kind of explain
a bit better to the jury whyshe for years denied the allegations and then
changed course from twenty sixteen. Nowshe told the jury she was scared,
(11:46):
she was threatened in twenty eleven. That's why she didn't want to come forward
with the allegations. But defense boysare likely to highlight the fact that in
twenty eleven and in twenty sixteen sheissued multiple denials. Now, some of
those denials were written by Trump's lawyersexcuse me, by her former lawyer without
her consent that she didn't agree with. But if you're a juror in this
(12:07):
case and you don't think Daniels isa particularly credible witness, seeing these repeated
statements of denial, is going tocreate some doubt in the way that Daniels
will have to explain when pushed bydefense attorneys. I assume we'll hear a
bit more about that come Thursday, okay, and I know you're going to
be in the courtroom watching it foras Peter our Olumbus. Thank you so
(12:28):
much for the information, and we'relooking forward to the next time we get
to talk to you. Thanks somuch for having me applied with my pleasure.
All right, take care, let'sget back to some of the stories
coming out of the KFI twenty fourhour news room. Disneyland has been given
the final ok to expand. TheAnaheim City Council has given final approval to
the Disneyland Forward project. This residentis all for it. It's an amazing
(12:50):
thing for our community as residents andmy daughter's generation. We'll get to see
it all unfold. The expansion ishappening on the existing footprint of park.
Disney's also buying a couple of streetsfrom the city of Anaheim. One of
the streets will be turned into awalkway, apparently between the park and what
is now the Toy Story parking Lot. Anaheim City spokesperson Michael Lister says the
(13:11):
nearly two billion dollar project is goingto take a while. This is a
really a multi year and multi decadeplan. We will see development play out
over years and decades. The expansionwill bring new shops, restaurants, and
attractions based on Disney movies Avatar,Tangled, Toy Stories, Utopia, and
Frozen. A fourteen year old girl'sbeen arrested in connection with a murder in
(13:33):
South LA. She's accused of shootinga twenty year old woman in March who
was walking near seventieth and Figaroa. The woman was hit in the neck and
head. Investigators say security video helpthem find the car the teen is believed
to have been driving at the timeof the shooting. LA may expand its
city staff to go after employers engagedin wage theft. The only City Council's
(13:54):
Personnel Committee approved a report on howthe city handles wage theft when employers don't
pay workers all they're rightfully owed. The lowest wage workers in LA were reported
to lose more than twelve percent oftheir annual income. City Inspector John Reemer
told the committee yesterday expanding the staffdedicated to this work could help what the
strike team will do is it willenable us to protect those good businesses as
(14:15):
we root out the bad businesses.Since opening in twenty sixteen, the city's
Office of Wage Standards has recovered nearlynine hundred thousand dollars for more than thirty
seven hundred workers. Michael Monks KFInews USC students will become graduates at several
locations on campus as ceremonies are heldtoday through Saturday. There will be no
main stage graduation. It was canceledbecause of security concerns. There will be
(14:37):
a Trojan Family graduate celebration at theColiseum tomorrow night. Governor Newsom's office says
more than three million fentanyl pills havebeen seized in California since the beginning of
the year. Yesterday was National FentanylAwareness Day. Newsom says the Golden State
is continuing to tackle the issue headon, and added that efforts are getting
(14:58):
this poison off far streets and outof our communities. The owners of Marilyn
Monroe's former home in Brentwood have suedthe City of la to try to keep
the city from designating the home asan historic landmark. The owners want to
tear down the house and expand theircurrent home which is adjacent to the property.
At six o five, It's handleon the news another day, another
attack at a metro station. Thisone turn deadly for the attacker. Let's
(15:22):
say good morning to the host ofRich on Tech. KTLA's tech reporter Rich
DeMuro. Good morning, Rich,Hey, good morning you Amy got a
lot of apples falling from the tree. Yeah. New iPads. This was
an event that Apple pre recorded, just kind of wanted to get this out
before WWDC, which is their bigevent next month. But we saw some
(15:43):
new iPads. iPad Air now comesin two sizes. They've got a larger
thirteen inch model that now starts atfive hundred and ninety nine dollars. They
also moved the camera on the iPadAir so it's in landscape mode, which
makes life a lot easier for videochatting. It used to be kind of
on the side and it was reallyawkward. Two new colors there too,
blue and purple. The iPad Prowas the big news. They've got two
(16:07):
new models there. It comes withApple's latest chip, which is the M
four. They're really doing some interestingthings with their chips. They are super
fast and very efficient, so thischip is fifty percent faster than before but
actually uses less energy, which ispretty incredible. And these chips on their
computers have just gotten really really good. Very expensive though. These new iPad
(16:30):
pros start at nine hund ninety ninedollars and then they the bigger model is
twelve ninety nine for the base model, which you know, when you add
the keyboard and you try to makethis thing like a laptop, it gets
more expensive than a laptop. AndI think that's the crux of Apple's situation
here. These iPads are amazing, but people buy them for content consumption,
(16:52):
not content creation necessarily. Gotcha. And with the M four chip, you
said it's super fast, less energy, So does that just mean that the
battery lasts longer. Yeah, Ithink you can do more powerful things without
worrying about the battery. I mean, for instance, I have the latest
MacBook Pro and I'm not kidding.I never ever think about charging this ever.
It's not even I don't carry arounda charging cable because I know I
(17:15):
can charge it at the end ofthe day or once every three days.
It's just not an issue. Andthat's kind of what's happening with you know,
with their chips on their iPads. The phone not so much because we're
using the phone a lot. Theyhaven't gotten quite there yet, but you
know, still one more thing tomention though. They did have a new
Apple pencil. It's it's got kindof a squeeze functionality, so it can
(17:36):
do more stuff a squeezze functionality.Yeah, you can squeeze it and bring
up things on the screen. Likethat's just one thing you haven't had before.
So that's been added. And thenthey did drop the price on their
tenth generation iPad. I would arguethat this is probably the most popular iPad
because it's the cheapest. So nowit's three hundred and fifty dollars, but
don't be fool this was launched intwenty twenty two. It's still fast,
(18:00):
it's still capable, but don't paythree forty nine for it, because that's
the price that was selling for overthe holidays. So I expect that price
to now drop to either two fortynine or three hundred dollars, which will
be a really nice price for aniPad. Okay, so one thing about
the iPad that I got, Ijust got one a couple of years ago.
It might be that one you weretalking about, but it doesn't have
very much storage. Yeah, andsee that's another issue I have with this.
(18:23):
So Apple, the base storage onthese things is like basically one hundred
and twenty eight gigabytes. I've gotto check on the on the tenth generation
iPad, the cheap one I'm talkingabout, it's even less. And the
problem is, as soon as youget some apps on there, in a
couple of movies, you're filled up. Yeah, I can't put anything else
on it. So realistically, addanother one hundred dollars to the price of
any of these if you want storagethat you can actually use. And I've
(18:45):
long had a problem with Apple withhow they they play games with the storage
price. They make these prices reallycheap sounding, but realistically you got to
pay another hundred bucks to actually getthe right price. Okay, And Apple
wasn't the only one who had abig reveal. Google also unveiled a new
phone. Yeah, so Google Pixeleight A. This is again I'm telling
(19:07):
you, Amy, all these companieshave events like coming up, and so
they're all getting like the stuff theydon't want out of the way. So
Google has an event next week wherethey're gonna have a lot of headlines,
and so they're just getting this outof the way, which is the Pixel
eight. A great phone, greatbudget phone. People look forward to it
every year. It's the phone Itrust my mom with every year. Five
hundred dollars for this device. Gota great camera, it's got great features,
(19:30):
it's a workhorse. It will lastseven years with updates, which is
just incredible. But you know,it's not the most exciting device. It's
just a great device at a greatprice. That just is funny because it
reminds me. We were out outand about beach doing a segment yesterday and
I said, well, we canjust use my phone to record it,
(19:52):
and Dana goes, well, youknow, we I think that, you
know, we want the high quality. And I go, well, do
you have the fifteen Max bro,She's like, we were comparing phones.
I was so embarrassed after we hadthe notion that is always what happens.
Everyone does that any party anything, you know, it's like, oh,
I've got the best phone, letme use this one for it. Of
course, that's that's typical, okay. And before we let you go TikTok
(20:15):
not taking in order to sell orbe banned lying down. No, they
are suing the US government over theFirst Amendment, saying, look, this
is the first time the government hasever enacted a law that names a single
speech platform to a nationwide ban.And they say, you know, obviously
they've got all the arguments lined up. People make a business out of this,
(20:36):
how can you do this? Solook, the reality here is that
over the next year you're just goingto see a lot of back and forth
between the US government and TikTok intrying to figure out this ban. China
does not want to give up thesecret sauce to this app. That's the
main problem. So if they sellit to a US company, they're only
going to sell a portion of it, and it's not going to be that
good. The thing that makes TikTokso sticky is going to be left behind.
(21:02):
And so that's the problem here,Okay, And we will be watching
that And you can watch and listento Rich Demiro Saturdays from eleven to two.
It's Rich on Tech right here onKFI. And I said you can
watch it because you also have yournew podcast, ey streamy thing. What

parents are pushing for police to comeback to La School District. Campuses spoke
(21:45):
to board members expressing deep concern aboutstudent protection and safety. One mother spoke
through an interpreter, saying she hasthree kids in the district and worries every
day. I am concern about thefight student fight, how they are being
hurt and they get to the pointof even losing their life. High school
students also addressed the board yesterday inopposition, saying campus police have historically been
(22:08):
useless and done more harm than good. The district says it will consider all
input. Chris Adler kf I Newsthe US has paused a shipment of bombs
to Israel over concerns Israel was goingahead with its ground operation in Rafa in
southern Gaza. The US has beenadvising Israel against the ground operation. The
(22:29):
shipment last week was supposed to consistof eighteen hundred to two thousand pound bombs
and seventeen hundred five hundred pound bombs. Tired of paying so much for concert

(24:03):

And so he fans caught horn likeKNO was saying, but he prefers
it horn like h O R En. And here's why I'm going to
(24:25):
go ding ding ding and agree withyou. And and because Ann's met him,
Oh oh, actually so, buthe's British. I don't have a
British accent, so he probably saysit British like, Oh my god,
Wow, do you want me tocall him? You want me get him
on the horn? Oh my god? Would you please? Wouldn't that be
(24:45):
imagine? KFI? Yes? Pleasescoop, yeah, get the scoop.
Okay, horn all right, ornhorn? Got it? Okay. Here's
what we're following in the KFI twentyfour hour newsroom. A coalition of housing
and mental health advocates and others haveturned in more than four hundred and ten
thousand signatures to get a measure onthe November ballot that would replace Measure H
a one quarter percent tax, witha one half percent tax. The estimated
(25:11):
one point two billion dollars a yearthat would bring in would go to building
more affordable housing, increasing access tomental health and drug abuse treatment, and
to make sure the programs actually deliverresults. Donald Trump's hush money trials in
recess after some salacious testimony from pornstar Stormy Daniels. Trump's defense asked for
and was denied a mistrial because ofthe testimony, but they did good.
(25:34):
The judge did agree that there arethings that would have better left unsaid.
Daniels is expected back on the witnessstand tomorrow. They're not in court today.
The Las Vegas Raiders maybe coming backto Southern California, at least temporarily.
Discussions are underway to have the Silverand Black Hole part of its training
camp at the Jack Hammett Sports Complexin Costa Mesa. Money from a one
(25:57):
year lease would be used to upgradethe sports complex at six so fives handle
on the news, Disneyland Forward isofficially moving forward yay at five point fifty
we'll get the buzz on the bees, where they're dying and where they're thriving.
We're gonna check in with ABC's JimRyan. Aamie's on it, Damie's
(26:18):
on it. Aamie's on it,Damie's on it. What am I on?
I'm on the stream and there isso much to watch? How do
you know what to watch? Well, you get recommendations from friends, so
hopefully I can recommend something that youmight like to watch. And uh,
this week I actually watched a cup, watched a bunch of stuff. I
(26:41):
think I've spent a little too muchtime on the couch. But that's a
whole other issue. So there wasa show that Anne was saying, Amy,
you gotta watch it as producer Anna, and it was called It's called
Baby Reindeer on Netflix. And thenJason Nathanson said, this thing is catching
fire, and I'm like, Igot to see what it's all about.
(27:03):
And Kno's already shaking his head. You didn't like it, did you?
It's not at all? Did youwatch the whole thing? I couldn't go
past episode two. Oh it's fascinating. Okay, So here's the gist of
it. The show wasn't heavily marketed, like they didn't promote it, but
then it just caught on and nowit's like the top trending show on Netflix.
So there's this woman. She meetsa guy in a bar. I
(27:26):
know, it sounds like a setupto a joke, it's not. So
this woman quickly fixates on him andstarts stalking him. And one of the
scariest things about this is that itis based on the real experiences of Richard
Gadd. Richard Gadd stars in theshow. He plays Donnie Dunn, who
is a Scottish comedian and not veryfunny. His stalker is Martha Scott and
(27:48):
she is played brilliantly by Jessica Gunning. Now, if you're a fan of
the show Outlaws on Amazon Prime, you'll know her as the community payback pro
Graham Supervisor, who I think actuallyis like the comic relief on the show
and is. She's just stellar inthat show. But she is very creepy
in this show. And it's notonly the story of Martha stalking Richard,
(28:14):
but also kind of the dark andarguably demented life of Richard Gadd. Now,
the real guy says that what yousee is in exactly his experience,
and that he had to change somethings for legal and artistic reasons, but
the gist of the story is actuallytrue. And she goes on this I
don't know, this stalking adventure, and it just, I think, just
(28:38):
grips you right from the start. You wonder what she's going to do next,
you wonder what he's going to donext. And I was just continually
shocked by what he did and whatshe did and who's the aggressor and who's
the victim and how do they playboth roles. It's dark, it's disturbing.
It takes a look into inside theminds of two people whose lives and
(29:03):
experiences have shaped their behaviors and theiractions. It's seven episodes, Cono you
can get through five more. It'sa really good binge because at the end
of an episode you got to knowwhat's going to happen next. There's lots
of surprises, lots of twists andturns. It's a really weird show,
but it's really good. It's calledBaby Reindeer on Netflix, and I'm calling
it a love story. It's sickand demented, but it's a love story.
(29:26):
Here's a different love story, theidea of You. It's the new
one with Anne Hathaway, where sheplays an older woman who gets involved with
a younger guy, and I say, good ONNYA. I heard Shannon talking
about this and how she hated herselffor loving it as much as she did.
So this film is right up myalley. It's a very well acted
(29:47):
romantic comedy starring as I mentioned,Anne Anne Hathaway as Selyne Marshawn. She's
an art gallery director in Silver Lake, mild stomping Grounds. She's divorced,
she's about to I turned forty, and she ends up having to take her
kid at the last second to gosee Coachella, and through a you know,
(30:07):
meet cute kind of thing that wouldnever happen, she runs into the
guy who is in a boy bandand then they immediately kind of have this
little connection and hit it off andthey start this relationship. And that's not
giving anything away because if you watchthe trailers you know this. But it's
(30:29):
really it's interesting, and like Isaid, it's really well acted. I
kept thinking that as I was watchingit, going they're doing a good job.
And this it's a romantic comedy, but there's some serious stuff, and
I think it's charming. I thinkit's sweet. It's a little bit funny
at times, it's uncomfortable at times, and there's a lot of conflict because
of the age difference. And theother thing that I liked about it is
the music from the boy band isThe boy Band is August Moon. It's
(30:53):
kind of legit, Like I don'tknow that it's gonna hit the charts or
anything, but I thought the musicwas good and it was enjoyable. It's
solid, it's catchy, so it'sa fun ride. It's a fun love
story, and you know, loveis complicated and you don't know how it's
going to end, which is agood thing. But it's called The Idea
of You. It's on Prime video. It's just it's a movie, so
it's just, you know, acouple hours. And I really enjoyed it.
(31:15):
So there you have it, twodifferent ways to look at love.
With Amy's on it, it's timefor us to move on and tell you
that the Dodgers are taking on theMarlins. Ooh, and it's a day

students will become graduates at several locationsaround campus as graduation ceremonies get underway underway.
They're being held today through Saturday. There will be no main stage graduation.
It was canceled because of security concerns, and it is not known.
(32:00):
A valedictorian, Osna Tobassum, whosespeech was canceled because of security concerns,
will be at an event at thecoliseum tomorrow night. A two year old
boy and his four year old sisterhave died after being swept away in a
creek in San Bernardino County. Ithappened yesterday afternoon in the Thurman Flats picnic
area just west of Mountain Home Village, AUTH already say because of limited cell
(32:23):
service in the area, it tookthe children's mother about an hour to get
through to nine to one one.The owners of Marilyn Monroe's former home in
Brentwood have sued the city of Lato try to keep the city from designating
the home as an historic landmark. The owners want to tear it down and
then expand their current home, whichis adjacent to the property. We're just
(32:44):
minutes away from handle. On thenews this morning, one of Trump's trials
has been put on hold. Whichone and when are we gonna be seeing
it move forward? Unknown? Rightnow, let's say good morning to ABC's
Jim Ryan. So, Jim,what's the buzz about the bees. Well,
it's not drown on, but theyare coming back. You know,
(33:05):
we've been hearing for decades about howbee population has been in such dire trouble
and that without honey bees and otherpollinators, we're going to be in serious
trouble. Well, that part's kindof true. If we don't have pollinators,
then plants don't grow, and that'sone thing, okay, no vegetables,
But it also means that there's nothingfor cattle to eat, or goats
or anything else that we might eat. So there is that problem. And
(33:28):
yeah, it's not a perfect situation, but the bees are coming back,
at least according to the National AgricultureStatistics Service, which says that we've seen
a dramatic increase since two thousand andseven. This was the first time after
the bee die offs began in twothousand and six. The live stock and
yeah, bees are considered livestock. They are, yeah, because you raise
(33:52):
them, as you know, forwhat they can do for us. But
they've increased by thirty one percent. We've got something like three point eight million
bee colonies or domestic bee colonies inthe country right now. That's a lot
of bee colonies, and I hearmost of them are close to where you
are. A lot of them area whole lot of them. And it's
(34:14):
partly legislated because the state legislature herein Texas has decided to give tax breaks
to people who keep bees on theirproperty. And we've got a huge agriculture
industry here anyway, with cattle andwith cotton and everything else. But so
let's say you raise cattle and you'vegot a small ranch of I don't know,
a couple hundred head, you useup your pasture. You have to
(34:36):
move those cattle to a different location. What happens to that fallow ground there
that isn't growing anything, Well,it starts to come back and wild flowers
come in. But if you putbees on that property. If you put
a bee hive out there or startraising bees on there, then it comes
back faster, and it comes backhealthier, provides more diversity of food for
the cattle to eat. So that'swhy the taxes legislature is wont to give
(34:59):
or is willing to of, youknow, tax breaks. So yeah,
the the biggest increase has come inNorth text right here in the Dallas wart
Worth, which traditionally wasn't a bighoney area, but now it's exploding around
here. So and it's just becausethey're offering the incentives and stuff. Because
I was wondering, like, whatwhat's Texas doing right that other states are
(35:20):
doing wrong? Well, yeah,I mean it's in said it's tax breaks.
It's it's incentives to people who normallywouldn't be keeping bees to go ahead
and keep bees. Boy, thatsounded like a tongue twister, but I
know that's what's going on, andso you know, and and it was
kind of a hard sell among thebee Keepers Association to get the legislature to
go along with something like this, but but yeah, it's gone ahead and
(35:44):
offered this kind of incentive. Soif there's nothing else we can do.
I mean, science is still lookingfor the reasons for the collapse of bee
colonies. We really don't know whatwas behind that. Was a climate,
was it pesticides, was it otheryou know, bees coming in and nudging
out the honey bees. We don'tknow that yet. But something seems to
be going right because we do havethis large increase in the number of beehives
(36:06):
around the country. One confusing partof this to me is that while we
do see bee populations going up,there's recent research showing that the honey yields
are still decreasing and have been sincethe nineteen ninety so more bees, but
less honey. Is there any otherway to pollinate flowers? Absolutely? Yeah,
I mean you can fake it,well, yes, okay, there
(36:30):
are other pollinators that birds are pollinators, right. Any animal that goes and
messes around with a flower and thengoes and messes around with a different flower,
even walks past it. A cattleare pollinators because you know, the
poliny as they walk through a fieldand they brush against flowers, and they
keep on walking and grazing, theybrush against other flowers. Well, the
pollenates then transferred to that other flower. Then there you go. So lots
(36:53):
of creatures are pollinators, but beeswe need some of the most efficient.
Yeah, if you need a lessonin b's go watch the B Movie with
Jerry Seinfeld. It's actually very good. Ah yeah you yeah, Okay,
Jim Ryan, thank you so muchfor it. Seamy see you. Let's
get back to some of the storiescoming out of the KFI twenty four hour
(37:13):
