(00:00):
All right, and this is goingto be a very very abbreviated segment,
but I've already no Devin based onthe time we have right now, I
am going to get Devin Perkins on. He is the marketing and community engagement
guy with DCF Guns. Devin, first of all, thanks for coming in.
You were supposed to have like thiswhole segment to talk about important stuff,
and then bo Nix has to havea press conference. But you're an
(00:22):
Oregon guy, you should be happyabout them. It was okay, that's
my guy. Well, well, let's get to what we can get to
today and then we'll have you backin to kind of continue this once more
stuff works through its way through thelegislature. And I want to start with
gun laws that have already passed theHouse and Senate. This particular, I'm
hang on, I'm getting the notesthat your cohort there provided me quite nicely.
(00:45):
Thank you. I'm going to askall my guests to do my work
for me. We've got a coupleof bills that have already passed the House
in the Senate, and one ofthem is the Safe Storage and Vehicles Bill
that is waiting for either a signatureor waiting to drift into law without a
signature of the government. And youknow our governor says he's a libertarian,
but he's a liar. Yeah,for sure, he's a liar. So
(01:07):
what does safe storage and vehicles mean? What are we looking at here?
If you are going to go tothe range to shoot and then go back
home, what do you now haveto do? If this is it will
become law, he's not going tobe to it. Essentially, Well,
do you want us to talk aboutthe little like fine line with the UH
with him not having to sign itbecause he doesn't have to sign it for
it to actually go in back right, it just goes in after ten days.
(01:30):
So it doesn't mean saying I won'tsign it. That doesn't mean anything.
Well, he could veto it,that would be the right thing to
do, but he will not doit. Yeah, we already know this.
Help us? So this Safe Storagein Vehicles Bill prohibits knowingly leaving a
firearm in an unattended vehicle unless thefirearm is stored in a locked, hard
sided container that is not left inplane view, or that is in the
(01:51):
locked trunk of the vehicle. Unsafestorage of a firearm in a vehicle is
a civil infraction punishable by a maximumfive hundred dollars fine. What what do
people need to know about this?Uh? Get what you need before you
actually take your trip to the range, because essentially, if anything happens in
between your trip from home to therange, you are now basically susceptible to
(02:14):
being fine because of this new law. Now and unless, like it said,
unless you have a locked case, which not too many people are going
to be using lockcases just going fromthe range home possibly starting at the gas
station. It's just another way totrip every day, gun owners up.
It's not really going to do anythingto reduce crime, violence anything. Like.
Here's what I see now though,is if someone does have a firearm
(02:36):
that gets stolen out of their car, they're just not going to report it.
Yeah, because why would you reportit knowing you're going to pay a
five hundred dollar fine, because they'regoing to assume even if it was locked
in your trunk or whatever, they'regoing to assume that it was improperly stored.
Yep. And another part of thatis that they actually shot down a
bill that would have made theft ofa firearm punishable by multiple years in jail.
Don't even get me started on thefact that we are not increasing any
(02:59):
punish for people to illegally own orillegally use a gun. That was all
just shit. No, we're notdoing that. Oh why go after the
criminals? Why would that be athing? We did all right, and
now we are liable whether if yourgun is using a crime, you are
now liable to be charged as well. So okay, in my opinion,
it seems like they're just manufacturing crimefor they're trying to make This is what
(03:23):
they're trying to do, a straightup. They're trying to make gun ownership
so miserable to do legally that peoplewill just go and it's not worth it.
This is exactly what they've done inNew York State. In New York
State, it takes it is likefifty fresh layers of hell to just own
a gun, and oh, youwant to go to the range. In
practice, that's fifty more fresh layersof hell. That's what they're trying to
(03:43):
do in Colorado, which will donothing to stop criminals from using guns,
nothing at all. Okay, wegot to hang on, We got to
take a break here. We're goingto come back. Devin Perkins from DCF
is with me right now. We'regoing to go through two more bills super
fast, so stick around. That'scoming up next. We've got Rob Dawson
who is downtown where the idiots areprotesting on the Aurora campus and now they're
going to block traffic. What's happeningRob? All right? Well, now
(04:08):
here's a little bit of a curveball here of what they're going on.
It doesn't seem as many protesters aregoing towards the Denver County Jail like they
said they were going to be shopbecause now they slit up into two groups.
I was under the impression that mostpeople would leave the Tipoli Quad.
It looks like a huge group ofthem now have gone back to the Tivoli
(04:29):
Quad. So it may not beas many involved in that, but there's
been about three hundred I would estimateon the lawn and it at times has
gotten quite tense tilled, especially whenthe protesters charged towards police. I was
trying to figure out when they didthat it was either at random or it
(04:51):
was in conjunction with police that havebeen slowly but surely arresting some of the
people who have been sitting down ina circle with their arms block. Those
are the ones that police seemed toget first, and every time they would
seem to arrest a person, therewould be a charge to try and block
them from getting to the Denver sheriffus. So why are they marching to
(05:13):
the jail because that's where they belong, Well, so they want to.
They have called it jail support.I believe there might be another word in
there, but they said people needour support in the jail right now,
so we're going to go over themto provide jail support. All right.
I hope they joined them there soon. And what did the police do when
(05:35):
they protesters charged them? They?I mean they were battling. It was
almost like watching tug of war.You know, there was also changing.
First of all, they were ina circle at one point, and then
police seemed to change their positioning, and anytime they changed positioning, that seemed
to start a run protesters where theywould try to follow them. At one
(06:00):
point there was a conquer that wasthree quarters surrounded, but they did not
disturb that. But now everyone seemsto be going back to the civili quad
and we'll say, if the tensioncomes back up again, So here's what
I'm hearing. Avoid the Aurora campusarea downtown because traffic is going to be
all screwed up, basically because thereare police blocking the entrances into the area
(06:25):
campus. Yes, I just seethat, all right, Rob Dawson,
don't get yourself heard out there. All right, thanks Sandy. All right,
that is our man on the scene, Rob Dawson. Now I've got
about four minutes left. Okay,Devin, Devin, you've been so patient.
I appreciate it. Let's talk aboutthe stuff that is still pending.
Because the concealed carry permit changes, those have already been passed, they have
(06:46):
not been signed yet. They aremaking getting your conceal carry permit a lot
more cumbersome, a lot more difficult. There's now a live fire requirement.
And the funny thing is is I'vegone through conceal carry permit training in three
different states, so I can tellyou the worse it is. The worst
it is in Kentucky. They makeyou read all of the statutes out loud
in the class. It takes liketwo and a half hours. Oh yeah,
(07:09):
and it's just design to make peoplehate it. But what can we
stop, if anything, We've gotthe guns and AMO tax. Where is
that right now? They're trying tobasically create a poll tax for AMO,
right, yeah, they are.It actually got slightly lowered from eleven percent
to nine percent. Oh wow, yeah, okay, yeah, but they're
still essentially's trying to price us allout of guns and AMMO. Yep,
(07:33):
firearms state dealer permit. What arethey trying to do with that? Again?
It's the state wanting their cut likeit's literally just a new a new
eight license. Let me get thefee, right yep? Of course,
one point five million dollars Yeah, one point five million dollars went to the
Bureau of Investigations for Colorado. Whatyep? Oh my god, oh my
(07:57):
god, Harry. The consider carrylaw, that's that's probably the one that's
most prevalent right now because especially what'sgoing on with these college camps, because
there actually is college campus carry inColorado, well, there won't be soon
if sensitive spaces passed, right right. That's why we are urging all of
the college students to come get theirconcealed carry permits now because one climate too,
(08:20):
because of the laws that are tryingto get changed. And let's be
clear, if you get your concealedcarry permit. Now you will be grandfather.
Yes, you will first go aroundand that's cud. But when you
do have to renew, you willhave to go through the whole stringers process,
right, which eight hour class?Yeah? Yeah, the test call.
All right, all right, Okay, we don't have time to go
through much more of this. WhatI would recommend is, if you have
(08:41):
any questions, just go down toDCF Guns and through the end of April,
so pretty much through this weekend, they're doing a buy to training classes,
get to training classes free special. So I mean, I keep saying,
don't wait on this, don't wait, but I'm not kidding. I
got accused of scare mongering. I'mlike, isn't it only scare mongering if
if I'm lying, But if I'mtelling the truth about what they're trying to
(09:03):
do and how difficult everything is aboutto become and how expensive everything is about
to become, that's not fear mongering. That's just telling people what's going on.
Right, Okay, Devin, We'regoing to have you back in at
the end of session to you talkabout the stuff that did pass what didn't
pass, because obviously the second halfof my show of this hour doesn't usually
go this way, but I appreciateyou guys making time in coming in and
(09:24):
again go to DCF Guns for allyour help. We will be back on
Monday with a full show. Havea great weekend everybody. I'm gonna go
use my weed torch and I'll havevideo on my Facebook page. Don't laugh,
it's awesome. We'll be back then
