"I wouldn't be in this position that I'm sitting in today without my family." NBA champion Giannis Antetokounmpo discusses his genuine love for his family and starting the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation to help others achieve their dreams, and gives his best attempt at smack-talking others in the NBA. And in After the Cut, Skip Bayless's misrepresentation of Giannis's "roast" of Kevin Durant reminds Hasan of everything he hates about the media.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Comedy Central.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
My guests tonight. He's an NBA Champion, Defensive Player of
the Year in two time league MVP, but you may
know him as the Greek Freak. Please give it up
for you're honest. Onto the.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Thank you man, it's nice.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Look at that. What is this?

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Is this coffee?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
It was a little bit, a little bit of coffee
or water something like that. How you doing, man, Thanks
for coming to New York.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Thank you, Thank you for having me.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Now I should be calling you head coach. You coached
me and.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
The yeah, I'm the coach. Yeah yeah, well you had
like zero points. Yeah, but your defense, your energy was great,
like you, We had a great teammate.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
That's what people tell me all the time. But that
didn't really translate to online props. I got roasted bad. Look.
I just think in the future we got to divide
it up. We got pro athletes over here and then
civilians because we got DK Metcalf's sledge Hammon on people.
That's my guy. I mean, he's great, but I'm a
thirty seven year old Indian man and we're all with

(01:21):
each other. Listen, man, how's the new feeling? I got
to ask you that feels good.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Feels good?

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Okay, okay, so you're gonna recover.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
We're good. I feel no pain. I'm good man.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
So yeah, look, we're here. We're here in New York
because we're obviously here to talk about an amazing foundation
that you have, and one of the things you are
so proud to share with the world is how much
you love your family. I don't know if you know
this about Yiannis, but I kind of find it annoying

(01:53):
at times. You're always like, my name is Yannis. I
love my family. I love my brothers, and then my
family gets mad at me and they're like, why don't
you talk about us this way? And I'm like, he's
hiding something. That's That's what a person with the secret does.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be in this position
that I've seen.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Today without my family, you know, without the sacrifices that
without the sacrifice that my parents made every single day
to provide for us, to put us in a position
to have an opportunity to go out there and accomplish
that dreams that goes in life. You know, I wouldn't
be here without them, you know, obviously it's been six

(02:33):
years now, twenty seventeen, six years that my dad has
passed away, and it's in honor of him. And as
I've said in the past, and I've said a lot
of times, like he had no money, he was poor.
He came from Nigeria to have a better life, and
we were his legacy, you know. And I could feel

(02:53):
like growing up like he was the richest person in
the neighborhood because he always felt it.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Rich because he had us, you know.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
And so you know, we decided, we decided as family
to come together and you know, build this foundation to
basically just do what people did for us, you know,
just pull our hand out there and give them up
to be great in whatever they decide to do and
kind of help them be that step for them to

(03:22):
go out there and come to their dreams the same
way I did.

Speaker 5 (03:25):
You know.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
It's a beautiful thing, man. It's the Charles Charles Onto
the Kumpo Family Foundation. And what's so cool about it
is you're focusing on three different places, Milwaukee, Nigeria, and Greece,
which is such an integral part of your identity now
as a child of immigrants here an immigrant, is it
weird being here in America and then being around people

(03:48):
who don't love their family. You know what I mean
when people are like, my mom is toxic, Like is
that weird?

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
You know you know what I mean. Like when you
see mom sell on your phone, you pick it up, right,
I have to, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Choice.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
But people think we're crazy. I'm like, there's no way
this is going four rings? Are you crazy? You have
to pick it up?

Speaker 6 (04:09):
Yeah, that's what Yes, you say, you're thirty seven, I'm
thirty Always.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
The last time your mom whooped your ass like thirty five.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Yeah, I mean, so we'll see emotionally with my ass
this morning. She's like, oh, you're not gonna call me
before your first day at the Daily Show. I'm like, Mom,
I'm busy.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
No.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
She supplexes me emotionally all the time. But I gotta
I gotta take it.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Me too, But I'm going to pick up the phone,
you know.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
But at the end of the day, like as a
you know, it's some not a relationship are the best,
you know, but then you just got to make it work.
But for me, it's easy. With my brothers, we we
slept in the same bed, you know, like I was,
I had this feet on my face, you know I
had these.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
So no, you guys don't know that, like when you
go back to the motherland sometimes you got to do
had the toe toe Yeah, you like it's like reverse
Lego logs here.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
So we're very close. We tried to protect one another
as much as we came. We tried to advise one another.
And that's how my dad raised us. No, my dad,
let's just see and my mom also my mom and dad.
You know, if one don't need nobody is if like
he not mean because I'm the third one, but like

(05:26):
Finansa's in backstage, like he had the most pressure of
all of us because like my dad was on him,
like protect your brothers, like look after your brothers, you know,
make sure your brothers get to school, make sure your
brothers did be Like we were raised to be together.
So that's why our family has been this way. But
you know there's a lot of times that you know,

(05:47):
sometimes it gets gets crazy, but you just have patient.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
You have five brothers. Brother, that's nuts. And I was
roasting you the other.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Day and my brother got in your face.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
I know, I know because I was talent we were
playing horseback and forth, and I can't beat him physically, obviously,
but I was like, I got to defeat him mentally.
So we're playing horse and in the middle of the game,
you're shooting a free throw and I'm like, what's it
like being the middle child? That means you're the least

(06:15):
loved by your mom. And I did my research. I'm like,
you know who your mom loves the most, Alex, and
you were like clank. I'm like, let's go. It's crazy.
That's true. It's crazy. See, this is what people love
about you, Yannis. You love your family, You have humility.
I'm talking smack to your face and you're like, it's cool.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Then.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
I don't know if you've seen this about Giannis. There
is the groundbreaking tweet you had in twenty fourteen and
you talk about your love of sweets. You love American sweets.
Let's talk about the smoothie. Oh yes, yes, you go.
I just taste for the first time a smoothie. God
bless America.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
All right.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
I was, so, it's crazy, and since then you may
have not seen this, but like I think it was
a recent press conference. You're like, I didn't know you
could dunk, Oreos and milk. This is crazy, like, so
you're just enjoying all of these American sugary sweets. But
I wanted to to open up your world a little bit,

(07:22):
and I wanted to introduce you to more sweets, because
there's nothing more American than diabetes in early onset obesities.
So you obviously talk about Skittles. Skittles is your candy
of choice this year. I saw that on IG Obviously
you love smoothies. We've talked about the dunking the Oreo situation.

(07:45):
Have you had these? This is a fruit roll up.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
No, I'll be give tomorrow. Man, come on, let's go.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
We gotta do it right here on TV. I need
your take, y'a honest, we've seen you play. We need
the Yanni's taste, hash the bib a bike. No, no,
there's a rapper, this's wrapper. There's the wrapper, the rapper,
the rabbit.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
Let's go, let's go.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Here we go thoughts, Hey, this is good. Yeah yeah,
let me let me get the odd one man. Right
here we go the later Yeah, all right, all right? Hello.

(08:41):
Growing up as a Muslim, I could not have these,
but I brought them for you. This is a hostess snowball,
and I've always wanted to eat one of these, but
they have pork gelatine in them, and so I brought
them here for you so you could eat the devil's candy.

(09:05):
Tell me what you think. I'm just gonna live vicariously
through you. No, no, so I'm not missing on anything. Okay, no, yeah,

(09:25):
you know what year they made that? Well, year nineteen
eighty one. These things can survive the zombie apocalypse.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
This, this was good. This is good to be honest
with you.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
This is Let me ask you a question. What's your
what's your serial of choice.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Or the cinnamon toast.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
You as a as an NBA vet, that's kind of
a rookie choice, be honest. Have you had's pot?

Speaker 7 (09:54):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (09:57):
The time is now? Yes, this right now?

Speaker 1 (10:01):
We need some milk, we need the ball.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
No, I just want, I just want straight up if
you do you like Reese's pieces? Do you like Reese's
peanut butter.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Cho Let's tarcolate it one? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Of course?

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (10:10):
What else would I be referring to? Go for it?
Let me see go for it? Please, just straight up thoughts.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
It's good?

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Do you now imagine this with milk? Do you rank it?
Do you rank it up there with your top two?

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Okay, all right, keep it. If you keep that, you
keep that, all right. That's all you. That's all you, bro.
I told you. I told you, if you come to
the show, I'll hook you up. You didn't think it
was going to be like this. Look, I got to
do something for the culture. I'm hosting the show, and

(10:56):
I can't just be giving you these American products. I
gotta blow your brain up. I didn't say that, right.
I didn't say that, right, I gotta blow your I
didn't say that. I did say I didn't say that right.
I didn't say that. What if I gotten nervous and
be like, I gotta blow your back out? I was,
I gotta blow your mind right now, Yannis? This right here,

(11:21):
you know what I mean. I didn't think of that.
This right here is a personal delicacy on behalf of
all of South Asia. This right here, Yannis, is what
we call a glob Joman.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
And what.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Do you like donuts?

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Now, imagine who doing donuts? Everybody loves jumats. Now, imagine
if you took a donut hole and you were like,
go harder in the paint. Let's take that donut hole
and doubts it in syrup that my friend's a glove Joman.

Speaker 5 (11:59):
Here you go.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
You made these.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
I didn't make this. This is from it. I'm not
gonna lie. I cant lie.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Here.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Here we go. Let me see man.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah, this is a historical moment.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
Yeah. I like this.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
Let's do we do?

Speaker 4 (12:23):
You do?

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Your mind made it?

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Yeah? Keep going. You can get both, you can have both.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
You wanna have all three.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
I didn't do anything to grab this is this is
an MJ with the pizza in the last dance. This
is all. This is actually from love. I want you
to succeed. Let's go, man. Is that probably the best
tasting thing that you had to out.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Of all of them? It's very rich. I like that.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
It's a lot. It's a lot. And if you've noticed,
if you've seen Indian men in their forties, fifties and
sixties and they're kind of shaped like, it's because of
stuff like that. I got one last thing to talk
to you about. Can we clear this real quick? Can
you do this for me? We're gonna clear this real quick.
One of the things I love about you, man, and

(13:12):
the reason why I wanted to bring you on the
show to plug the foundation is your humility. You know,
you are obviously one of the biggest superstars in the world,
but you're kind, you're empathetic, you're humble in a league
where that's not incentivized. But I gotta be honest with you.

(13:35):
You were in a press conference recently, yes, and they
asked you. You're a two time MVP, and they asked you,
who's the best player in the league. And this is
what you said, Let's play the tech.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Do I believe I'm the best pit in the world. No,
the best plait in the world is Steph Gedty. It's
to the next player.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
I hate that.

Speaker 8 (13:54):
I hate that you look, you got this immigrant dad,
green card, visa energy, but you're a citizen, bro.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
You deserve to be here, all right? And this who
will be a nice to everybody else in the league? Yannis,
they're going head hunting for you. You think those guys
want to be nice to you?

Speaker 1 (14:21):
I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
No, So you got to talk that talk right here
right now in New York City. Now, I know talking
trash isn't your strength. That's my strength.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
So you do it.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
So I wrote you some trash talk right here to
some of the top players in the league. And I
want you to go to camera three right now, talk
that mother talk. Let's go, let's go head hunt and Yanna. Okay,
there we go. Listen, Luca.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Yeah, though you're rhyming with Carti and you have on
your team, I'm coming for you, guys.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Oh, I can't see. I can't see the people what
they want. Yanna, Let's do this. Let's do this. I'll
do it. I'll be your shit talk translator. Let's do this.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Get it on me.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Let's go. Yeah, what's up, Luca? Even though you're running
with Kyrie, the scouting report is out on you. You
got sausage arms and cankles. My man. For a dude
from Slovenia, you sure look like a dude from Alabama.

(15:43):
And you're gonna get this work in the postseason. That's
what you gotta say. All right, all right, fine, fine, fine,
he likes Luca, he respects his game. Well a joking,
we gotta talk about Joker. I wrote some stuff about
Joker right here here you go. This is Giannis given
Jokick that trashed off.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Joker.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
How are you gonna make it through the finals where
you look like you can barely make it through a
burger king drive through.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
This is what we want. This is America. Yes, keep going.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Yo, kids, I love your game.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
No, it's like this go back prompter. Hey, yo, kick joker.
How are you gonna make it through the finals when
you look like you can barely make it through a
burger king drive through? You shouldn't be on the court.
You should be checking id's outside of a hookah bar.
You gotta say it like that. All right, Let's keep going.
Let's keep giving these people this work. Kevin Durant, let's go.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
You keep joining super teams to win the NBA title.
How about how about we work out together sometimes so
I can teach you how to carry your own team.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
You know what I'm saying? Like, I like that one.
It was like a little simpler KD.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Where's the cat? Where's the Kadi? One of the best
scored in Twitter? Play this game.

Speaker 6 (17:22):
I respect your day. You know you lead by example
for fifteen years.

Speaker 7 (17:28):
So you hate this this gro I hate this entertain me.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
I respect your game.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
I come on, all right, do the lebron one. We're
gonna get out of here, but make this one count Lebron.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
I love your game, man, what is this?

Speaker 1 (17:56):
I love your game.

Speaker 4 (17:57):
You're the king for the reason Goat just broke the
old time mom scoring the record. She's doing what you're doing. Man,
he's a blue print. You're a blueprint man.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
All right, all right, listen, listen man, everybody we talked
about in the NBA, please don't come kill me, Yannes.
This is what we love most about you. Man, in
all seriousness, thank you so much for the work that
you're doing in the league. You're setting such a great
image for kids around the world. I'm so honored that

(18:36):
I've gotten a chance to get to know you, and
I can't wait to see all the amazing working intern do.
For the Charles Onto, the Koumpo, friendly tidy for my brother.
Thank you so much.

Speaker 9 (18:45):
Than thank you so much, yo, everybody.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
It's weird because I haven't kind of hosted a show
like this. I haven't been back for for quite a
few years, and and being in the media is a
very strange thing because we'll work on jokes, right and
then you know, I'll look down the barrel and I'll
say them and then they just get piped out to
the world and sometimes you get you get, you get

(19:20):
pulled into some drama. So it's on my only my
second day here, and I wake up this morning and
Skip Bayless's put me on Undisputed.

Speaker 4 (19:36):
You keep joining super teams to win the NBA time,
how about how about we work out together sometimes so
I can teach you how to cunt of your own team.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Wow, it's supposed to be cute. It's supposed to be
te he funny, it's supposed to be key key key funny.
And it's just not to me either because it's unfair
to Yvan Durant, right, and he is the thinnest Skins
superstar I've ever closely observed, so he is not going
to be pleased, and I'm waiting for him to fire
back via to nor.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
It's like day one. I brought out, you know, NBA
All Star jianis Anto to Compo. I brought him out
on the show. He was our first guest for my week,
and I brought him on actually to plug his amazing
foundation that's in honor of his father, the Charles Antotokumpo
Family Foundation, And one of the things I was talking about.
I don't know if anyone here is a fan of Yannis.

(20:32):
But he's this really beautiful human being. He's one of
the best basketball players in the world, but he has
this like immigrant dad, green card energy, you know what
I mean. He has a super Max contract, but he's
just like, are these subway napkins? Can I take these?
Like it's that juxtaposition that I love about him. And

(20:54):
he's got so much humility and grace. And there was
this clip that we played on the show where even
though he's a two time MVP, they asked him in interviews, hey,
do you think you're the best basketball player in the world.
He's the former MVP, and he's like, nah, Steph Curry
is And I show him that clip and I'm like,
cut that out. Stop it. You're an American citizen. Stop

(21:16):
walking around with his green card energy. I want unbridled arrogance,
Like you need to improve your ability at talking shit.
And you know how like Obama on Key and Peel
had the Obama anger translator. I was like, I need
to be your talk shit translator. So he's just so

(21:40):
humble he can't do it. So we load up shit
talk and the prompters and I go, look, I know
comedy's not your go to this camera right here, read it,
you know. And he's just like, hey, Lebron, you know.
And he's doing his old bit, Hey Lebron, you know.
And then he couldn't even get through, and he's like,
I'm sorry, Lebron. I love you, Lebron, Lebron like Lebron,
I love you, I love you, I love my family,
I love my mother. Like he could not do it.

(22:02):
He could not talk shit for two second. He's a
better Muslim than me. He's not even Muslim, you know
what I mean. And one of the lines, one of
the lines he said was inadvertently he got through this
line that I wrote for him, and he's like, KD,
let's work out together so I can finally teach you
to be strong enough to carry your own team. Oh no, no,

(22:25):
why did I say that? No, it was so adorable, KD.

Speaker 5 (22:28):
No.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
I love you, kd D.

Speaker 6 (22:31):
One of the best scored in twitter game. I respect
your day. You know, if you lead by example for fifty.

Speaker 7 (22:39):
Years, so you would hate this, hate this, I hate this.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Entertain me. I respect your game. But then skip Bayless
this morning just ripped out that little clip of Janni's
going to camera and being like, KD you need to
get stronger so you can and getting a theme on
your back. And then Skip's dumbasses like see that is
so mean to Kevin Durant because we all know he

(23:08):
has thin skin. I'm like, wait a second, Skip, are
you trying to big up Kevin Durant by talking shit
about Kevin Durant. We should be nicer to Kevin Durant
because he's clearly a pansy who can't handle it, Like
what are you saying? And that's the thing. I'm only
on day two of you know, doing this guest hosting thing.

(23:29):
And that's the vexing thing I hate about being a
part of the media. It's this fu click bait Instagram reels,
TikTok media grift of like oh if I just snip
out the right amount, Oh baby, I can ride the wave,
Like while you're on the train to work, I can
get you mad, like, oh I can oh feed that algorithm?

(23:51):
Lord algo right. And the shitty part is is Skip
is perpetuating the very same reason professional athletes don't go
on any of these shows, you know what I mean.
They've created a dynamic where you gotta go full Darth Maul.
In order to be a former athlete that does media,

(24:13):
you gotta go full Draymond Green, Kendrick Perkins two camera.
I'll be like, I'll kick you in the nuts, and
the producers are like, yeah, more, do more of that
or be a normal person.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
Right.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
That's why all the athletes are like, you know, I'm
just gonna just keep doing my thing and just completely
ignore you guys. I don't know what to do. You know,
do you guys know who Skip by Liss is. If
you don't know who Skip Byless is, He's an old
white man named Skip Bayless. But I think if Skip

(24:48):
really cares about the athletes and the sport, then I
think if he's gonna benefit off the grift, then I
think you should make a donation to the Charles unto
the Kompole Family Foundation. You got you gotta cleanse those pockets, baby,

(25:14):
And if you want to learn more about the Charles
under the Koompole Family Foundation, I suggest you also donate
money to that as well. It's an amazing organization. I'm
so proud of Jannis and Thanasis and yeah, shout out
to them. So thank you guys so much. Explore more
