(00:31):
downtown Los Angeles to stop vandalism and looting. She declared
it an emergency, with the curfew due to run from
eight pm Tuesday until six am Wednesday local time. It
will take place in a two point five square kilometer
section of the city's downtown area, focusing on where protests
have raged since Friday. Residents, the homeless, media, and public

(00:53):
safety and emergency officials will be exempt. Mayor Bas said
the city has reached a tipping point after twenty three
businesses were looted, and added that law enforcement will arrest
individuals found breaking curfew. Earlier, on Tuesday, National Guard troops
began protecting immigration agents as they made arrests in Los Angeles,
an expansion of their duties that had been limited to

(01:15):
protecting federal property. U S Immigration and Customs Enforcement said
in a statement, that the troops were providing security at
federal facilities and protecting federal officers who are out on
daily enforcement operations. The change moves troops closer to engaging
in law enforcement actions like deportations, as President Donald Trump
has promised as part of his administration's immigration crackdown. California

(01:40):
Governor Gavin Newsom has asked a federal court to block
the Trump administration from using the National Guard and Marines
to assist with immigration raids, saying it will only heighten
tentions and promote civil unrest. Newsom filed the emergency request
after Trump ordered a deployment of roughly four thousand National
Guard troops and seven hundred marines to la following protests

Investigators have not confirmed if the item sees have any
relevance to the long running case. Early reports suggest that
the fragments were animal bones, but testing is required to

(02:44):
confirm their origin. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Braunschweig, Germany,
is leading the ongoing process of searching for new leads
that could potentially tie Madeleine's disappearance with their prime suspect,
who is a German native. Forty eight year old Christian Bruckner,
is currently serving a prison sentence in Germany for the
rape of a seventy two year old woman. He has

(03:04):
never been charged in the McCann case and denies any

with authorization from the Portuguese Public Prosecutor's office. Austrians have

(03:26):

The attack is the deadliest in the country's recent history.
The twenty one year old gunman, who has not yet
been named, was a former student at the secondary school
and took his own life on the premises shortly after
the rampage. Residents of the city turned their main square

(03:49):
into a sea of candles, standing together in solidarity. Three
days of mourning have been declared in Austria, with a
minute silence to be held later today. The school in question,
located in the northwest of the city, will remain closed
until further notice. The Austrian Chancellor, Christian Stocker, called it
a dark day in the history of the country. He
said that school should represent a safe place and that

(04:11):
this had been violated. Early reports from Austria's APA news
agency suggest that seven of the people killed were pupils,
with their whole lives ahead of them. Police said the
gunman's motive is still under investigation. The final Jetstar Asia
flight will take off on July thirty first, with five
hundred Singapore based workers to lose their jobs as Quantus

(04:31):
Group announces the closure of the airline. In a statement
to the ASX, Quantus Group attributed the closure of Jetstar
Asia to greater competition, rising supplier costs and high airport fees.
The airline is on track to post a thirty five
million dollar loss by the end of the financial year.
Quantus Group Chief executive Vanessa Hudson said it was a
very tough day for staff. They added that Jetstar Asia

(04:55):
employees are entitled to redundancy benefits and some may be
re employed within the Quantis Group where possible. Passengers with
bookings for canceled flights will be entitled to refunds or
moved on to other flights. There are no changes to
any flights connecting Australian airs to destinations in Asia or

of fellow pro Palestinian activists from sailing into Gaza, the

France on Tuesday, with Tumberg due to travel on to
Sweden from there. Three other people who had been aboard
the charity vessel also agreed to immediate repatriation. Israel has
imposed an one hundred year entry ban on all twelve
individuals involved in the incident. Speaking in the arrival section
of Paris's Charles to Call airport after the deportation, the

(05:58):
Swedish activists said she and her team had broken no
laws and called for the immediate release of activists still
in Israel. She said she was very clear in her
testimony that they were kidnapped on international waters and brought
against the her own will, into Israel. She also laughed
off criticism from US President Donald Trump, who had described
her as an angry person. She said the world needs
a lot more young angry women, especially with everything going

(06:20):
on right now. That's your evening news headlines. On tomorrow's
episode of The Quickie, we deep dive into a revolutionary
