Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listing to a Mama Mia podcast. Mummamea acknowledges the
traditional owners of land and waters that this podcast is
recorded on Hi. I'm Nicole Madigan from Mummamea's twice daily
news podcast, The Quickie with Your Headlines. For Tuesday, June three,
Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip opened fire as people

(00:33):
headed toward an AID distribution site a kilometer away, killing
at least three people and wounding dozens. According to health officials.
The shooting occurred early on Monday at the same location
where witnesses say Israeli forces fired a day earlier on
crowds of people heading toward the AID Hub in southern
Gaza run by the Israeli and US backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.

(00:57):
The Israeli military says it fired warning shots on Monday
towards several suspects who advanced toward the troops and posed
a threat to them around a kilometer away from the
AID distribution site at a time when it was closed.
The army denies it was preventing people from reaching the site.
The Israeli military says Hamas is doing everything in its

(01:17):
power to undermine food distribution in the Gaza strip. The
United Nations and major aid groups have rejected the Foundation's
new system for aid distribution, saying it violates humanitarian principles.
In a separate incident on Monday, an Israeli strike on
a residential building in northern Gaza reportedly killed fourteen people.

(01:38):
Millions of low paid workers are set to receive a
three point five percent pay rise. The decision delivered on
Tuesday was in line with the federal government's call for
a sustainable pay increase above inflation that would not see
workers going backwards as prices grow. Fair Work Commission President
Adam Hatcher says the decision will help make up for

(01:59):
a decline in living standards for employees in the past
three years. In previous years, the Commission was discouraged from
awarding a pay increase that would see low paid workers
catch up with rising costs because of its concerns that
it would cause inflation to become more entrenched. In its
submission to the Commission's review, the Australian Council of Trade

(02:19):
Unions called for a four point five percent increase, arguing
the industrial umpire must deliver a pay bump substantially higher
than the inflation rate to address years of workers falling
back in real terms, but employer groups warned businesses were
struggling to get by and a pay rise of that scale,
on top of a legislated increase to mandatory superannuation contributions

(02:43):
coming into effect, would force many to lay off staff
or shut their doors. The decision follows an increase of
three point seventy five percent handed out in twenty twenty four.
With the new pay rates kicking in from July one.
Women experiencing financial abuse feel abandoned and let down through
the child support program as Labour is urged to change

(03:04):
laws to make it easier to enforce rules on perpetrators.
A report released by the the Commonwealth Ombardsmen found not
enough was being done to identify and stop financial abuse
through Child Support Services. Australia's actions were found to be
unfair or unreasonable in responding to widespread manipulation and weaponization
of financial payments. The agency lacks policies, strategies and training

(03:29):
to be able to proactively identify, monitor and respond to
cases of abuse, the report found. The Ombardsman recommends the
federal government introduced legislation to address limitations that impede services
Australia Enforcement information sharing and a requirement of abuse survivors
to disclose sensitive details with their former partner should also

(03:50):
be restrained. In a survey of more than five hundred
separated mothers, four in five say their former partner has
used the program to commit financial abuse. As of December
last year, there was one point nine billion dollars in
child support collect debt, with more than one hundred and
fifty thousand parents owing child support. A former personal assistant

(04:12):
who accuses Sean Diddy Combs of rape has testified that
she continued sending him loving messages for years after her
job ended in twenty seventeen because she was brainwashed. The woman,
testifying under the pseudonym Mia, pushed back at defense lawyer
Brian Steele's suggestions that she fabricated her claims to cash

(04:33):
in on the me Too money grub against Combs. Mia
was on the witness stand on Monday for her third
and final day at Combe's federal sex trafficking and racketeering
trial in Manhattan, which is in its fourth week of testimony.
The fifty five year old has pleaded not guilty. His
lawyers concede he could be violent, but he denies using

(04:54):
threats or his music industry clout to commit abuse. As
Steel aggressively questioned Meir about the messages, the witness responded
that she was brainwashed and that she developed confusion in
trusting her instincts. Mia Alleges Comb forcibly kissed her and
molested her at his fortieth birthday party and raped her

(05:15):
months later in a guest room at his Los Angeles home.
She testified last week that the assaults were random, sporadic,
and so oddly spaced out that she didn't think they
would happen again. That's your evening news headlines on tomorrow's
episode of The Quickie, the ancient personality test that has
all of Hollywood talking. Listen to The Quickie wherever you
