Instagram we actually had a fan page that did everything
for us.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Yeah, I liked that person.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Who was that I don't know, but they were so
lovely and I felt like a celeb because I had
asked them to run the page.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
No, no, we love you live. We love you live.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
I couldn't help, But wonder asked me anything, you ask
any questions?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
All right? What are we doing today?

Speaker 4 (01:36):
All right? Later on in the episode, we have a
refresher on pimple patches and how to use them the
correct way, which I can actually, unfortunately say, over the
last twenty four hours, I have some actual experience.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
You turned up at my house with them on your face?
Did you forget?

Speaker 1 (01:49):
No? I just rock you rock out with the zip
patch on.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
But first, we've got a question about face puffiness from Olivia.
Olivia has asked, Hi, kellyen Lee, is there a way
for me to reduce the puffiness of my face before Christmas?
I don't want to spend any money on treatments, and
with the end of you grind at work, I just
have no time. Is there something simple I can do
to help with this? I hated the photos of myself
from Christmas last year, and I really want to just

(02:14):
feel pretty thank you. Oh, I'm so sorry that you
hated the photos of yourself though.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
That's sad.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Look, Olivia, we've got nine days, so we're not miracle work.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
I am.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
I can fix you in nine minutes, nine seconds.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Okay, you go first, then, well as a puffy faced queen.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Me too, you know.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Actually yeah, yeah, both of us love salts, enjoy a
little afternoon tipple.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Maybe a little bit too much.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Yeah, all my advice is boring.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
All of the things are to like, you know, we
can relate because we both get very puffy. So my
instant hacks are get some ice, just like literally get
some ice cubes out of the fridge. If you don't
have one of those little you know, you can actually
buy little little molds and such. If you don't have
something like that, literally just grab some ice cubes, hold

(03:04):
them in like tissues so your fingers don't fraze, and
then just run it all over your face.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Trust me, you will watch your face just go.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
That is so true and gets so snatched.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Because it like it freezes all your capillaries and everything.
Everything sucking.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah, Like, say you've twisted your ankle, you put ice
on it to get the selling down exactly. Can I
just say I have the exact same point, but yeah,
wrap them in like a thin teatowl or a tissue,
because you don't want to get that ice burn if
it's really quite cold, and put on your face.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Do you feel like if you're running over quickly. It
doesn't do that.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Though, Yeah, Or just hold them in your hand to
the melt a tiny bit, true, yes, or sometimes well
I've done it, like three times. I get a bowl
of cold water and put some ice and it stick
my head in it.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
Yes, but that's effort shocking that it will shock your
face into snatchings though, or like a face massage will
also work one days, either with a tool.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Or just your fingers what God gave you, you just.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
What God gave. Just do little like stick your fingers
in the freezer. Yeah, it's true.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
It's so the effectiveness of massage just to remove all
of that puffiness and actually does work absolutely.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Moving on to the boring stuff.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Well, I was gonna say the same thing, like in
that moment, you could use a guasher, you could keep
it in the freezer. A couple of weeks ago I
talked about my favorite frozen balls off Amazon Anything but
like just jump on YouTube or google like at home
lymphatic drainage massage and just do that with something cold.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
It works so well, so works. It's one of those
things that you'll try this. Take her before and after,
and you'll be like, oh, my god, it actually works.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
My god.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
When I was away, my girlfriend's like a makeupartist, but
she's all like a bit woo wom and she's like,
can let me do She did this ten minute, very firm.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
We took it before and after and I was like, oh,
it's insane.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Look I think to yoga.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Literally, a lot of makeup artists actually do do that
with oil first to prep the s and it stimulates
blood flow.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, okay, so you've got nine days sleep on a
higher or firmer pillow if you're not, because it pulls
in your face when you're when you're lying down, particularly
if you eat a lot of salt, like I do,
so less salt unfortunately, less booze. But we drink in
moderation anyway.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
We do.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
What I have done in the past is just cut alcohol,
which is very boring. But the difference in my face
when I don't drink, which you know, I'm not going
to do that all the time boring, but I find
for me personally that makes a huge diffence.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
I remember when you were going through some medical stuff
and you I was like, Kelly, what have you done
your face?

Speaker 4 (05:23):
And You're like, I have stop trying, just stop drinking,
and mys like did you get your lips done?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
And I went no, I just had a big night.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Yeah, So less salt, obviously a lot of hydration. I
am drinking collagen, but also like hydration like electrolyte drinks
at the mind.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
So good with your liquids.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Well, because I don't like taking vitamins and stuff, so
I just put them in the water.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
So good. Yeah, facial message.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
And this is going to sound quite superficial, but you've
said you didn't like the photos. Can I say, just
practice a few like poses like don't pout and pose.
But I know my side, I know how I feel better.
I was never gonna smile front on in a photo. Yeah,
I would always be doing my little sod.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Yeah and tho, sometimes you're having great time at Christmas
with your family, you don't want to like bust out
like in a Vogue shoot.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
But just knowing, like you know, lift your chin a
little bit. It just like you know, I take terrible
photos and then I take decent photos literally like by
the twist of my head exactly. Yes, hey, Olivia, have
the best time. Merry Christmas and we hope that help.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
And also remember you're there to have fun.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
The photos don't need to see the light of the day,
and if they do, all that they show.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Is the last that's having a great time.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
Correct coming up after the break, why you could be
making your pimples worse?

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Dot dot dot.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
So Lisa has asked, Hey, ladies, I love listening to
you both on Mondays. I have two questions for you.
Oh yeah, I forgot she's snuck into. What's the deal
with pimple patches?

Speaker 3 (06:52):
How do they work? And how are you meant to
use them?

Speaker 2 (06:55):
I have only had success with them drawing extra muck
out after I have already popped.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
The pimple shocked monkey face emoji.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
If you put it on before popping, it seems to
make the pimple hard and it never comes to a
real head. Second question, do you have any reckos for
a brown cubulomascara? I love lounge face lash, but want
to try something brown. Thank you for all your tips
and tricks. Okay, Joky, let's letter have two It's Christmas.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
It is Christmas. Yeah, funny story.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
I read this and I had two big pimples on
my chin brewing.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
You can see them just tear. Didn't do a great job, Well,
I picked them, didn't. I it's not going who's not
going to?

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Firstly, is it a bad thing that the pimple never
comes to a real head, Yeah, because they do do that,
like it stops it if you put it on, it
just ends up shrinking and then sort of just disappearing.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Yes, So I don't know why that's bad.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Well, I think it's.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Expectation, Like people want to just wake up in that
whole area is flat and normal and no color at like,
you know, it's just great skin. And I think it
comes down to expectations.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Yeah, I personally would much rather like if I have
a pimple brewing, If I put a pimple patch on
and then I wake up in the morning and it
hasn't come to a head and.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
It's just like quite hard.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Yeah that means but it's not hurting anymore or anything.
That means it's going to start healing. So you conceal,
you can conceal. It's so much easier than these types
of pimples that you've opened up and squeezed the gunk
out of and they're just then impossible. So I personally
don't think that that's a bad thing. I think you're

(08:27):
not dealing with like a crusty, scabby something. It's not
going to scar then because you haven't picked at it,
and it's just a lot easier to cover.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
So I don't think that that's a bad thing.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
I think that maybe brands are putting out an expectation
that it will help it vanish in for a minute,
but it will not. It's still it just quickens it.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Exactly well my recommendation. I'm pretty lucky now that I'm older.
It's not my primary skin concern, but I have had
a few lately, and I've had the best luck with
micro Dart pimple patches.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
Oh I love those ones.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yes, so good.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
So instead of just being sort of a clisticker with
ingredients on it, they have like think of when you
get like Derma rolling teeny teeny tiny needles, but they're
made of plastic. So you put it on the pimple
and then you press quite hard and it kind of
not stings. No, it doesn't sting, and it's sort of
pieces of skin but not like a needle. But they're
like micro micro darts that like deliver the ingredients into

(09:25):
the poor in the area.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
And generally they've got things like salicilicas salacilica.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
I said, they'll often have tea tree, maybe some sicker
for healing as well.

Speaker 3 (09:33):
So I've got three that I love.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Skin Control, which you can get at Cold Skin Control
micro Dart pimple patch you get nine for thirteen dollars
that says it's for early stage and blind pimples.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
I don't think I've tried it on a blind pimple.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
I've tried it on something that was really close to
brewing that I desperately wanted to squeeze and then thought
better of it. The Bye Bye Blemish micro needling blemish
patches are great. You get those at Chemist to Wear House,
same shtick, and then there's some on Amazon. I lie,
I haven't tried these, but they've got really good reviews.
There's some by me micropin spot patch, and that is

(10:07):
for also like dark spots as well, pigmentation and healing.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
And all that jazz.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
So try the ones with the little spikes and when
you push it, like press it quite hard.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
I really like the t pH ones, just the regular one.
Oh yeah therese aren't micro dart. No, they're not micro dart,
but just like a regular pimple patch. And they're the
ones that I put on my pimples yesterday and they
was so big and gross, and I.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Did squeeze them.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
I did squeeze them, and then I put the pimple
patches on over like once they'd sort of stopped being gross.
I also like the ones you get now on a
bigger sheet that you're depending on. Yes, Like my niece
is you know of that age, and she's like I
kind of you know, a million dots and she's got
a cluster on a gin you can.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Put a big patch on rather than just like heaps
of ones.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
But when I woke up this morning, all of the
extra gunk had sort of been So when you can
just can film it and send it to me next time,
Oh yeah, there needs to be an Instagram account of
like they're probably oh big old.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Sick o love.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
I will send it to you next time, don't you worry.
And they're not sore anymore, and they're not like.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Gross like they just when I saw you're like sitting
doing your work, You're like I can feel and.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
It's got a heartbeat. It's that bloody annoying.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Yeah, it's all about expectation. But I also think the
earlier you can put it on, the better. And if
you're at home or you don't care what you look like,
don't save it for just overnight, like Kel said, wack
it on during the day.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Who cares?

Speaker 2 (11:34):
And because it's Christmas. Your second answer, I have a
few few. I love a tubular mascara.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
I agree a lounge face slash is one of my
very very favorites.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
Wonder why they don't do a by Brown might be coming?

Speaker 4 (11:45):
Never No.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Three I love.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
I'm not saying I've tried these in the brown, but
I love the formula in the black. So therefore the
Mechamax Whiplash tubing miscar it's twenty six dollars and it
comes in brown as well as black. The Revlon all
In tubing muscara comes in brown, full price twenty six dollars.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
And then the kind of.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Pretty much cult status the Natio Extreme Volume mascara, that
also comes in brown in his six seen ninety five
full price.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
So good.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
It's three pretty good cheapis do you go? Maybe I
could do brown on my lower lash line.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
I never to bother bothered. Maybe I can cover on
me old grades.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
I'm like, what are you just looking for something? You
look fantastic with black?

Speaker 3 (12:23):
I was looking just for some reason to use that,
all right.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Okay, So coming up after the break, we've got our
hacks and I've got an anti stink hack.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Oh good, I need it? Oh good?

Speaker 1 (12:42):
What you makeup? Hacks?

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Lee?

Speaker 1 (12:46):
What do you You bought some show and sheell for me?

Speaker 3 (12:48):
I did?

Speaker 2 (12:49):
I want to know about your stinkiness. But first let
me tell you this is unrelated, but it just gave
me flashback when you were little. Did you like get
your mum shampoo and like mix it up in the
bottom of the shower, or like get flowers and crush
them and try and course make my.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Own products of course that vassoline.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
With eyes shadow yes, or lipstick like your mum's favorite lipstick.
So anyway, I like to have like a little bit
of my makeup in my bag.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Half the time I forget.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
But anyway, I just over the last weekend sorted out
my life and I may congratulation, thank you.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
And by that I mean my handbags. And I made
myself a little makeup kit. So do you want to see?

Speaker 1 (13:23):
Oh please?

Speaker 3 (13:24):
So Minis.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
Oh my god, this is the cutest thing I've ever
seen in my lid.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Minneso is one of those sort of Japanese two dollar shops.
There's also Diso like can go anywhere, and they always
have little mini travel like decantery things. So this set,
I was like, right, what I like about it is
comes in the hard case in case anything feels because
these are liquids or creams, and I had.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
Them it looks like a little sewing kit for people
playing along at home.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
Yes, so see this. That's my favorite foundation decanted in there.
So if I need to touch up my foundation, here
I go. I know, And I could have had these
floating a little makeup bag, but I like that they're
all together.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
And well, otherwise you'll lose them all.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
Little bit of Charlotte Tilbrey water cream because sometimes you
know how we talked about brand a bit of moisturizer
on our face too, like dry refresh.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Well, I've just been sick in summer, of course, So
now my nose is all crusty.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Then I have.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Got my favorite Kmart highlighter that I've decant, Oh my goodness.
Then I've got the Meca Cosmetica spa flip barm that
I love, but it comes in a big glass pot
and I don't want to put that in all my bags.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
And then some blush because I wear blush.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Now, how are you that that is the cutest thing?

Speaker 3 (14:33):
That just makes me feel so happy?

Speaker 4 (14:35):
And then putting that together would have cost you under
ten dollars.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Yeah, well, I mean I had all the products at home,
a lot of them. Packaging oh yeah, that was like
six bucks. And then I just like literally scooped out
a bit of the products and then I've got it.
It's in a bigger makeup bag, but with like a
spool and a brow pencil and like my blotting papers.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Oh my god, so cute to sell them.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
It's like a sewing kit, but for young people.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Yeah, it's fine, all right? Helped me be having a
sewing kit?

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Nothing, I have one.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
I'm quite good at darning, I'll have you know.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Are you?

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Oh darn tell me, I'm stinky.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
Help me, okay, so a couple of weeks of gosh,
it was probably two months or so. Now I went
and purchased, you know how like Priceline have those great
things every year where it's like, spend this much on
you get a giant full of goodies. Anyway, I was like.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Oh my god, this is so exciting when it did
it all.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
And then I was doing it unboxing and listen, I
posted my real reaction. I was a little bit disappointed
of the amount of witch hazel was it because I
personally don't use witch hazel? So I was like, well, okay,
this is unnecessary. And someone commented from memory it was
a lovely last called Brook. So shout out Brook if
you're listening. Sorry if it wasn't Brook. She was like, caw,

(15:44):
use the witch hazel on your pits? Is it like
a detox?

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (15:47):
You know how, like I've said to do it with
you know, glycolics or that sort of thing before. She
was like, put this on, like just swipe a little
bit under your arm pits before you put dirt or not.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
And she said, I never smell.

Speaker 4 (15:59):
And you how sometimes you can get extra stink if
you've got a bit of fake tan.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
On absolutely, or you wear a synthetic top yeap.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
I tried it when I had fake tan on it.
I did not see me.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
Oh you didn't do it right after shake.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Oh god, please do not do it after shaving.

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Okay, okay, please do not.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
Do it anyway. So I was like, oh, that is genius.
What a cheap way to keep your underarms really shi feet? Yeah,
I don't get stinky feet personally.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
Well I don't think I do. I don't know that
too far away.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
I get very stinky pits me too. Also, just like
the product build up, so it's.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
Like clarifying shampoo for your underarm.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
It is, which is it's the same concept as the
glycolical whatnot that I've suggested before. But if you do
have a random thing of witch Hazel at home.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Well I'm going to come borrow somebody.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Else put it under your pits.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
I love it.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
