(00:00):
Yes, hello, all right, let's get right into it. So Bill
Burr is coming to the Valley ArizonaFinancial Theater four shows the twenty fifth through
the twenty eighth. You know himfrom movies, you know him from TV.
Bill Burr. Hello, it's suchan honor to talk to you.
Hey, nice to talk to youtoo. How are you good? And
I'm going to the show on thetwenty seventh. And you know, I

(00:23):
have to ask with comedy these days, I feel like the the better experience
is when the phones are locked up. Is that going to be a part
of your show? Ah? Yeah, Unfortunately, you don't like you don't
like that. Well, I don'tlike the fact that you know it.
You know, it makes it's justthe longer lines for people. But you

(00:46):
have to do it because people filmyour stuff, they post it and then
some of them do you know theCNN Fox News thing where they make the
edit make it look like, youknow, they take it out of context,
is what they do, and that'sunfair to your art. Let's be
real, all right, thank you, mom, You're welcome. I am
here to defend you, defend yourhonor on the line. That's Priscilla on

(01:11):
the line. I feel like Iwas at a parent teachers You're like,
whoa, who's over the microphone?Mom? All of a sudden shined in,
so you leave my son alone verymuch. Listen. You know what
I get it though, because whatyou do on stage is an art and
you have the right to have thatshared and released in whatever which way that

(01:32):
you desire. And I am herefor I mean, yeah, it's longer
lines for people, but at theend of the day, we get to
see an entertaining show, so I'mokay with it. Yeah, well,
yeah, you get to see thereal show as opposed to me thinking like
god, how are they going totake that out of context? But I
do have to say I would draw, I would I wouldn't quite say what
I do as an art form.I'm just I'm kind of an idiot,

(01:53):
just you know, people know what. That's the thing like this one of
the things I've made my ignorance worksfor me. Is one of the good
things I'll kind of be in.Not the brightest guy is people definitely know
you're just joking around, or atleast that you're harmless. Well, obviously
you're going to be here for threedays, four shows, Arizona Financial Theater.
Do you have any plans when you'rehere in Phoenix, because we'd love

(02:15):
to be your ambassadors on what youcan do while you're not outperforming. What
am I gonna do? I'm actuallythis is my exciting life. I will
be on a zoom call working ona script I'll be doing while I'm out
here. Well kind of scrapped, yeah, snuff porn figure you know.
Oh perfect. I can't wait tosee the storyline. It's no, I'm

(02:38):
doing a you know. We meand Bentsha wrote Old Dads that crushed on
Netflix and with no promotion, bythe way, during the strike, So
I was very proud of that.So now we are onto the next idea
that we have and as we're tryingto close the deal we are we're just
writing the script, so we areahead of the game, which is great

(03:00):
because I watched Old Dads. Itwas hilarious and I actually just became a
dad, and I know you becamea dad later in life. What is
the one piece of advice that youcould give to someone, whether it's negative
or positive, about being a dadIn twenty twenty four, don't listen to
other parents unless they're saying something positive. I don't know what it is with

(03:23):
parents. They always predict that, you know, your kid is somehow going
to be behaving the way their kidis behaving, which evidently isn't good.
And they never seen the process thatmaybe they need to be, you know,
putting up more boundaries with their ownkid. But they're always just going
like, you know, how oldis your kid? You tell them like,
oh, yeah, I remember thatage. That's pretty crazy. I'm

(03:43):
like, no, I'm actually enjoyingit. And they always go, well,
wait till he gets to be mykids dage. Yeah, buggle up,
and it's just like, well, maybe you suck at it. How
old are your kids? Let's seeseven and four? Oh, you're in
the thick of it. I justread a headline too, because I was,
you know, snooping ya and itsaid that you traded in football for

(04:05):
Bluie. So is that the bigshow in your household right now? It's
actually ACDC. When they were inParis, one of the left shows they
did with Bond Scott my son isobsessed with Angus young four year old and
he has a little guitar and heputs a hat on and he jumps around
and he's got it in him.Man's amazing him. My daughter is more

(04:29):
of a kid ninja warrior. Mybig problems Like when you say I'm in
the thick of it, it's likethey don't have a driver's license, so
like this is this is an easyage. No, it really is when
they get older and they can driveaway when they're upset with you. Yeah,
I would think that that's really Like, I have a lot of empathy
for parents with teenage kids, especiallynow the phone, the fence and all

(04:54):
the creepers and predators and just allof this stuff out there. You know
what, I'll say, it's thatmore stuff than navigate. Yeah, But
I think if, like you said, if you're a good parent, then
all that's noise. Because I havean eighteen year old girl. And I
say this jokingly all the time, like when parents are you know, giving
a hard time for having a youngerkid, I'm like, listen, I'd
rather have four three year olds thanone teenage girl because it is just a

(05:16):
nightmare because they're so tough. Butyou know, if you wrangle in a
man, you do the good job. All that noise on the internet and
the phones, they'll they'll eventually figureit out. And you know, I'm
sure you're doing all that too.I also, I don't know about four
three year olds. That's pretty that'spretty interesting. No, no, you
don't know. I mean, haveyou had experience of living with a teenage

(05:39):
girl. They are vicious and theywill break you. But you'll have a
better experience than me, because Idon't want to be one of those parents
that I'll be like, wait tillshe's a teenager. Yeah, No,
I don't you know. I mean, I I just I'm not going to
take a person. Yeah, I'lljust look at it like, Okay,
they're in that weird spot between beinga kid in a and they want to

(06:00):
be an adult, but they yeah, sometimes feeling like a kid and they're
all confused and now they're lashing outat me. It's like, I don't
think they really feel that about me. Yeah, no, I know in
their twenties they'll be like, yeah, hey, got a little nuts there
for a second. They you know, I'm sure I did when I was
a teenager too. One hundred. So you also have Unfrosted coming out,

(06:23):
which is directed by Jerry Seinfeld andyou it's about the invention of the pop
Target comes out May third on Netflix, and Jerry did an interview yesterday.
I don't know if you saw,but he said he's making a movie,
but he thinks movies are dead, which I vehemently disagree with. What would
you say to that, Well,it's it's what happened was the streaming service.

(06:47):
And it used to be you paidten bucks to see a movie.
Now you pay ten bucks, youget all the movie, all the TV
and all the documentaries and stuff.Like the people that started these networks,
they devalued what the artists did whilethey kept all the money is kind of
what That's why it's it's kind ofyeah, we're in like a we're like

(07:10):
in a tech nerd Robert barn EraAnd one of the terms I really can't
stand is tech broke. Like they'retrying to put like what's going on.
They always try to make it fratboy adjacent because you know, people for
whatever reason don't like guys that canthrow footballs and you know, aren't afraid
to hit on hot chicks. Youknow, a lot of it is nerd
resentment. But then they try tomake like every frat boys like that.

(07:34):
So now it's like the nerds aredoing something. But the nerds, their
public persona is that there's these harmlesspeople and if everyone was like them,
there's some of the worst people onthe planet. Like a frat boy can
ruin one person's life, a nerdcan take down a country infrastructure. Kind

(07:56):
of what has happened, that's kindof what has happened to our INDUSTR three
is a handful of nerds took allthe marvels for themselves. I mean it
was always, you know, acutthroat business, but there was enough for
people to eat, you know. But like some of these streaming service their
goal is they want to put everybodyout of business, which is just a
bizarre Like when I started doing standup comedy, I wanted to become a

(08:20):
great comedian. I didn't want tomake sure no one else could ever do
stand up after I became a comedian. It's just like I don't understand like
that that that mindset is concerning. But I think I think it's good.
Look, I'm a big believer thatif you make something that's good, people
people will watch it. Now,how you actually get paid to do that,

(08:43):
now, I have no idea.Yeah, I think that that's what
I think that that's what he meant. But that's classic Jerry to be putting
out a movie while trashing Yeah,I mean it is an interesting time,
you know, with the strike lastyear and the AI stuff and it I
wouldn't say interesting. I wouldn't sayinteresting, and we shouldn't be using those

(09:05):
words. It's a ridiculous level ofgreed. Yeah, that is going on,
not just in this industry, butall industries. Like I'm going around
the country and I'm meeting people thatare working forty hours a week and they
can't make their bills. It's likeyou have a job, you're working full
time, and you still can't makeyour bills. There's something wrong with that.
Like the top is taken too much, but top is that they're faithless

(09:28):
people. So then people end up, you know, getting mad at people
at homeless encampments. You're gonna getmad at the victims of greed and war.
You know a lot of those peopleliving under the bridge, you know,
are veterans. You know, Iwas, you know, I was
trying to do a bit. Itwas just too sad, just thinking,
like the whole trajectory of a militarycareer, It's like you're out there you're

(09:50):
getting introduced on like the you know, halftime at a football game, getting
a standing ovation, and then yougo to war and like eighteen months later,
you're living under a bridge and thesame person that cheered, he was
screaming you to get a job andget out of their neighborhood. It's it's
it's one. I mean, you'reright, it's sad, but also the
truth. I mean, my dadwas a veteran and when he passed away,

(10:11):
all of the services that he waspromised being a veteran, he was
treated like he was an inconvenience inhospice. And I'm just like, really,
like, is this what we're doingto the people that serve for our
country? Oh? They always do, and then they put the guilt of
it on you about supporting the troopsand what it really means is supporting where

(10:31):
they're sending the troops for their ownselfish needs. And then they you know,
they build everybody. This whole countryis a bunch of evildoers. It's
like, isn't it mostly just peoplelike me wondering what their leaders are doing?
Yes, you know what I'm herefor it. I appreciate the rant,
honestly, well, Bill, Ican. I kept my emotions in

(10:52):
check. Oh no, yeah, absolutely, Bill. It was great to
talk to you. I can't waitto see the show on Saturday. Arizona
