Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, Hello, this can only be Linda Davis. How are you, Linda?
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Good? Hey there, it's great to hear your voice.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
It's good talking to you, Linda. It's Chris Mitchell and
with me is Laurie and we do the morning show
here on Q one O two. And we're very excited
that you are coming to Valley Bible Church for the
big concert on Saturday, December sixth.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
And this is a.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Christmas concert you've been doing for a couple of years.
Isn't that right?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
It is, and we look forward to it each and
every time.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
They take up.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
I mean, they work so hard to let folks know
about this show. We do. My husband Lane, my friend
Bill White, we actually call our show Evening in the
realm when we go out and perform, and when we
come to the Winchester, Virginia area, it's always the reunion.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
I love that so much. The first time that we talked,
Linda was a million years ago. It was nineteen ninety three.
You won't remember it at all. I remember it because
you guys were just catching fire with your duet with
with Ree, but you'd already had some hits, but this,
this really made you pow. And I got a chance
(01:14):
to talk to you. It was one of those satellite
interviews where you would sit in a studio and every
ten minutes you'd switch to a different radio station around
the country and talk to I'm it must have been
the most exhausting thing. But what I remember is, because
I did a lot of those, is that some artists
were just kind of tired of doing it, and you
could always tell. But my gosh, you were so professional
(01:34):
and so fun to talk to. And I actually sang
part of does He Love You?
Speaker 1 (01:40):
With you?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
And it was as awful as it sounds like it
would have been too. But I still think about that
day and how fun that was. You sounded great, but boy,
I sounded awful and it was just it was a
fun time, and I thought, what a great person. I
walked away from that interview. I already really was a fan,
but after I got to talk to you, you were
(02:03):
just so delightful, and I'm I'm so glad that you're
still touring and still doing fun things like that. So
what what do you do during the year, Like, what
are your favorite things to do that this year that
we've just passed? What were some of your accomplishments this year.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Well, well you know what. Hey, Laurie. By the way,
were you even born back in ninety three?
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yes, final, I was fairly fairly Lindy.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
Chris, that's so funny. I'll ask your question in the second.
But aren't we blessed? We both are still doing what
we love to do.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Yes, Linda, we truly are blessed is the right word.
And I think about that every single day. And I
also think about the fact that I never won the
lottery in all these years.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
I might be doing some difference. I don't know. Somebody
work right, right exactly.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Speaking of blessings you asked about this past year, I
would have to say, first on the list is our
brand new grand baby. Hillary has four little girls that
we are we are just like our heart explodes when
we talk about our grandchildren, and our oldest is twelve.
(03:22):
There are a set of identical twin girls in the
middle and they're going to be eight in January. And
then our brand new little granddaughter, her name is Sela.
So that would have to be first on the list.
Amazing blessing.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Wow. Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Then if you want to get into some professional things
we have had. We get to do shows all across
the country. We went out to Montana in July. I
don't know if you've ever been to Montana's Chris Laurie,
but you should do yourself a favor and go. The
people out there love country music, so getting the thing
for those folks. Every time I get invited to get
(04:02):
on the Grand Ole Oprey stage and sing and perform
is like Christmas. So that and so much more encapsulates
this past year for me. And coming back to valid
that Bible church to sing for our show, face love
and laughter is always something we look forward to, and
it being near the holidays this makes it even sweeter.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Do you do any Christmas songs on the show?
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, we are. And to let you know,
there is the Shnando Valley Christmas Ensemble, which is a
combination of talented singers from your area. They're all gathering
together to open the show for us. Melody Howard is
putting it all together, and we're featuring Joey Wilson. You
(04:50):
probably know Joey. He was with the Promised Land Quartette.
So they are singing a lot of Christmas songs to
get the spirit moving for the holidays. And then when
laying Bill and I get on stage, we'll do a
few Christmas songs, but we're mostly going to do the
songs that we've recorded and written and the hits, and
(05:11):
then you know a few songs that you might not
have heard before, so we just rounded out. But there
will definitely Christmas bells.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Ring if you've just joined us.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Linda Davis is our special guest on the Q one
O two Hotline. She is talking about this concert she
and her friends will be putting on at Valley Bible
Church Saturday, December sixth at six pm on Double Church
Road there in steven City. All the information about getting tickets,
all of that is at Chris and lurishow dot com.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Linda, I am so excited. Let me tell you something.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
When Lady A first appeared and I saw Hillary Scott,
I thought, Hillary Scott, Hillary Scott, how do I know
that name? And then I realized you gave your gift,
your incredible voice, to your daughter, and it gave me
goose bumps the first time I heard her, and I
just thought, I am so delighted that this is continuing,
(06:05):
This is amazing. You must without doubt. I know you're
proud of all of your children, but you must be
very happy to be able to look at her career
and go, wow, she had a great career too. She's
still having a great career, right, isn't that something?
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yes? Yes, you know, if you've not already heard Lang
sing Hillary's Daddy, you will that night of November. I'm sorry,
December the sixth. But I mean, I guess she gets
it from both sides, because both Lang and I moved
to Nashville to pursue our dreams of being in music,
(06:40):
and we had Hillary, and we noticed she had a
beautiful voice. Early on. She would hold her part. Laurie
and Lange and I would grab harmonies around her and
she'd stay right through to melody, you know. So it
was always fun in the vehicle driving to and fro.
She was on. She was on the best many many
(07:03):
miles with Lange and I when we tour with Garth
and George and with Revent. And yet she never really
showed a lot of interest in the business side. The
older she got until about sixteen. And we have a
second daughter. Her name is Riley. She's fourteen years younger
(07:25):
than Hillary. Okay, I'll let you catch up and think
about that way. Riley Jean has a beautiful voice too.
But at sixteen, Hillary and Riley was too. We did
a production at Aubrey Land Hotel, a Lynda Davis Christmas Show.
(07:50):
We did it actually three years in a row.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
And that's when the bug really bit Hillary because what
she noticed firsthand was what a beautiful experience it is
with an audience that is enjoying the show, that give
and take. What it feels like to be a part
of a production with a wonderful group of musicians, a band,
(08:15):
and crew members who are just all working hand in
glove to put out a good show for the audience.
And she fell in love with the whole thing. And
that is when she decided, this is what I want
to do. And from there she took it on seriously.
She started writing songs. Victoria Shaw, you may recognize that saw.
(08:39):
You had a lot of hits. One that everybody would
might remember is called the River. Garth Brooks made a
huge hit with the River and many many more. But
this took Hillary under her wing and took her alled
up and down music row and song sessions with the
(09:02):
best and the who's who of Nashville. And that's when
she started really creating what we call a little buzz
for herself amongst the industry. And so, you know, as
much credit as we would love to take, and maybe
the DNA we can take a little bit, but as
far as the ambition and the work ethic, it's Hillary
(09:25):
and her her, and then she meets Dave and Charles
h and man, those boys are hard workers. They are
hungry for it, and they still are after all these years,
which is getting close to twenty years for lady.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
I can't even believe that.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Wow, I know, I know, that's when you know time
and the measurement of time came out run it can
we no, ma'am. Oh, But we are very proud of her.
We're proud of Dave and Charles and what they've created,
the three of them together, which I think was just
magic from the get go. And they we are so
thankful and humble for the opportunities that they've been given
(10:04):
and how loyal their fans are to them and me
and Laying as well as Dave and Charles's parents. We
couldn't be more proud of our kids and the success
they've had. But yet their feet are on the grounds,
very stable and sturdy and that's and their hearts are
still for Jesus and their families. So it's just it's
(10:29):
just beautiful, you know, And you get kind of during
the holidays, you really start assessing and reassessing everything that's important.
And that's it, the heart, health and trends.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
You're right. You couldn't be more more right. You really
couldn't be Linda. I am just so glad to have
you come to our valley, our beautiful valley. We really
can't wait for this show again. Saturday, December sixth, six pm,
Valley Bible Urge on Double Church Road in Stephens City.
And I just want to recap by saying, it's so
good to see good things happen to good people who
(11:07):
are working so hard for it, right, and oh, that's
in your career.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Can I tell you something, Lorie Chris, there's no way
that we could do a show of this magnitude without
sponsors and without help. And I know there's a long
list of thank you that if I could rattle them off,
it's not taken a little while, but maybe you could
put that up on your website. All of the sponsors
who are making this possible, and particularly William and Ronda
(11:34):
de Haven and Tammy Fowler, who are the boots on
the ground. Yeah, you are Valley making this happen.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
They really really are.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
I always when we're at a county fair or something
and we're talking about a show, we're about in to
the show, I always I always say, you know, listen,
here are your sponsors. Nothing happens without sponsors. They make
things happen. And I'm glad that you underlined that because
it's really try and I think sometimes people don't don't
think about that. They see then the logo, they hear
the name, but they don't realize what's happened, what they've
(12:06):
contributed to make the evening's event happen. So I'm glad
you brought that up.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Well, gosh, Linda, to make it really fun those yeah,
the folks aren't in the pews, the folks in the chairs.
They make the night happen too. So having an audience
who's excited to be there, that is everything. So for
those that have bought tickets already, thank you. We're going
(12:32):
to have fun. For those who are on the sense
about it, they want to get your ticket because there
aren't limited seats. We've been to this church before and
it's beautiful. It's just a cozy, intimate kind of a feeling.
But don't wait too long or you'll have waited too.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
Long, right, Linda, I can't thank you enough for being
part of our show this morning. Linda Davis a consummate
professional and incredible talent and just a delight to be around.
You're going to have the best time. Valley Bible Church
on Double Church Road in Stephens City, Saturday, December sixth,
six pm. Find out all about how to get tickets
at Chris andlrishow dot com. Linda, thanks again for joining us.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
You be tuning up because I'm gonna need to do
it partner that night.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
Oh no, I feel that I'm coming down with something.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Have a great day. Thank you so much for spreading
the words.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
You too, Linda, take care of the fight out Bye.
