(00:22):
Adam Mossley. Here's Reggie Jackson walkingit from right to left. He's
gonna cross the bid courtline with tenseconds left, guarded by the rookie Hayes
Jackson. With six seconds left,Jackson at the top of the key with
four seconds left, crossover step intothe tupper. He buries it. Reggie
Jackson back in Detroit with a bang. Noah Eagle on the call. Reggie
(00:44):
Jackson with the game winner and theClippers come back down eleven in the fourth
quarter with under five minutes left, and Reggie Jackson beats his former team in
the Detroit Pistons with that shot. They win one hundred to ninety eight in
Detroit. It is their seventh straightvictory, longest winning streak in the NBA.
Currently. Welcome into Clippers Talk.I'm at a Moslin to eight seven
(01:07):
seven five two zero eleven fifty eightseven seven, five two zero, eleven
fifty. We're with you over thenext hour here on the Patriot AM eleven
fifty. Coming up on the show, we'll have postgame audio from Reggie Action
Jackson, who was able to closethings out for the Clippers tonight and had
a season nine twenty nine points.Far abought S and Shari will also join
(01:29):
me from SI now and we'll getto all your phone calls and your tweets
as people are going nuts over thisvictory, deservedly so Clipper Nation. This
felt like twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen type of
Clippers comeback stuff, the comeback clipswhen they came back down fifteen seven times
(01:52):
or more a couple of seasons ago, when they had the thirty one point
come back in the playoffs against theGolden State Warriors, when they had a
week where they came back down twentythree times. But this was special because
they were missing all five starters,no Sirgebaka, no Marcus Moore, snow
(02:12):
PG, no Kauai, no PatBev, and they somehow pulled off one
of the most improbable victories of theseason, not just for the Clippers.
For any team out there to comeback down eleven with under five minutes left,
that is unheard of. In fact, they were down let's see here
(02:37):
eleven at the four twenty two markbefore Terrence Man had a four foot layup.
He wasn't done though. He's beena spark all season long, but
he sparked this comeback along with ReggieJackson. Terrence Man who had the huge
throw down with under a minute leftwhen they were down by five, and
(03:00):
then Nicholas Batoum gets the steel onJeremy Grant, who was having a fabulous
game and the Clippers didn't have tosee him on Sunday. He gets it
to tea Man who had the wherewithalto kick it back out to Reggie Jackson
for a three pointer to tie thegame at ninety eight. I'm trying to
find the postgame audio I put togetherhere and I just did Skeleton Crew tonight,
(03:25):
just like with the Clippers. Butwe're gonna try to get it done
anyways. But here is about aminute long highlight package of just how this
went down, starting with the Clippersbeing down five with under a minute left.
Plumbly will see it that inbounding pastforty six point nine left man on
the left wing, down the rightalley all the way to the ramp.
(03:46):
Oh. He slams with the rightlook out. Terrence Man amongst the trees
for a tun of hawks, slameight ninety five clippers within three forty seconds
left. Tennis shoot for Grant.Twenty nine seconds left. Double comes,
Buttom Grant has caught up. Batoomgot the steel Man scoops it up.
He goes all the way to theram Man down the right alley, kick
out Jackson quarter three for the tie. He got it. Reggie Jackson,
(04:11):
big time shot down the stretch, ties it at ninety three. Wayne Ellington,
the shooter is in sidike bay.Another shooter will inbound. Frank Jackson
plumb lad around out the five soBay gets it down on the far sideline
around a couple of strange Frank Jacksonnow booked away by Coffee, nearly taking
away it is. Terrence Man hasit and they call it time out.
Here is Reggie Jackson walking it fromright to left. He's gonna cross the
(04:32):
mid court line with ten seconds left, guarded by the rookie Hayes Jackson.
With six seconds left, Jackson atthe top of the key with four seconds
left, crossover step into the jumper, he buries it. Reggie Jackson back
in Detroit with a bang. Talkabout meeting the moment. Noah Eagle,
with an outstanding gabinder called there withReggie Jackson putting his former team away in
(04:56):
the Detroit Pistons. While we havea second before lose my breath and pass
out on the air, Let's pauseten seconds for station identification. Here on
the Patriot AM eleven fifty, Thisis LA Clippers Basketball AM eleven fifty KiB
Los Angeles, an iHeart radio station. This win was a microcosm of how
(05:19):
this team is played all season long. They're the stay ready Clippers. It's
not just Patrick Patterson. It usedto be his nickname, and he got
the start in this one, scoredzero points, but I still felt like
had some of those hockey assists thatdon't end up in the box score.
But guys have just stepped up overand over again. Next man up.
(05:40):
It's not just a pun Terrence Manwho's been doing that. He had almost
all nine of his points late inthe fourth quarter. It just does those
little hustle plays, those game winningtype of plays. We talked about it
pre game. No. Eagle andI were discussing just how he's able to
(06:00):
make those game winning plays at sucha young age and to not play outside
himself for him to have that stateof mind after Nicholas Batum got the Steel
to kick it back out to ReggieJackson to tie the game with that three
pointer, that's just unbelievable court awarenessthat you don't see from a player.
(06:21):
There's twenty four years of age,he had four years of schooling at Florida's
State and playing there, but it'sstill a player in his second year that
has grown leaps and bounds our youngboys become a man. It's Terrence Man.
But this was just a win thatexemplified what this Clippers team was all
(06:43):
about and has been all season long. People got mad at me because I
said they were different. The detractors. They said, we'll see in the
playoffs, and we will see inthe playoffs that will determine all of this.
But don't tell me this team hasn'tlooked different, that they haven't finally
merged that gritty, hungry Clippers teamfrom a couple of years ago type of
attitude. While having the two onthree connection and some serious superstars and elite
(07:09):
players on this team, and whilebeing a championship contender, it's not easy
to change that mindset to go frombeing the hunters to the hunted. And
the Clippers are trying to get thatnumber two seed right now in the West
while having Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. I want to say they've missed twenty
seven games combined now this season andthey just keep winning. They used to
(07:33):
not be able to win without PatrickBeverley. They found that toughness, they
found that gear, they found thatspirit, that heart and soul that Patrick
Beverley has always provided them. Butthey were almost two reliant on it at
times because they had a losing recordmidway through this season without Patrick Beverly going
(07:59):
back three years, it's a healthysample size. Meanwhile, they're over sixty
games when he's on the court. But they have to find other ways to
win. It can't just be thatone guy that decides it for them.
Kawhi Leonard has talked about this before. No Kawhi in this game. They're
missing their entire starting five. Yeah, you can say that Detroit Pistons are
(08:20):
at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. But they just got Jeremy Grant back,
who's been phenomenal all season. Hehad twenty eight points. But they
were able to clamp down again latein a game and flip that switch,
as they have done three games ina row now. Overall, they did
play wonderful defense, but shots weren'tfalling. The Clippers go seven of twenty
(08:41):
nine from distance. They're taking aimand take trying to take down the greatest
three point shooting team of all timein the Charlotte Hornets. The Clippers are
at forty two percent from three onthe season, and they go seven of
twenty nine. They shoot under fortypercent from the field. They ended up
(09:03):
shooting less free throws than the DetroitPistons, but they ended up taking also
eight more shots thanks to some opportunisticturnovers that they created. Detroit had sixteen
of them. Clippers still only hadthirteen points on turnovers. But remember all
that talk about them not showing upin the clutch in the last five minutes
(09:26):
of a game within five points,Well, they flipped that narrative around completely
in the fourth quarter. Recently, over the last month, I think they're
top five in net rating overall. In the fourth. They're playing great basketball,
and they're doing so while being undermannedand shorthanded, but they just find
(09:46):
ways to win games. Clippers winone hundred to ninety eight on a game
winner from Action Jackson Reggie Jackson againsthis former team. Let's go to Chad
in Korea. Towns start us offtonight, Chad. After that victory by
the Clippers, Hey, Adam, what a win. Thank you for taking
(10:07):
my call. You know, Iwas trying to talk to some of my
fellow Clipper fan friends about this game. But I think a lot of people
were going to watch a five pmgame against the Detroit Pistons where our entire
starting lineup was out. But Iwould say it's their loss because the Clippers
won in dramatic fashion, Lily outof that, that leads me to two
points that I want to make youknow. One is that I've actually enjoyed
(10:30):
watching this team a lot more whenwe're back or against the wall with our
bench unit and when we're under manned, because I think it's showing a lot
more adversity and being able to respondto challenges. I think the Miami game
in Miami comes to mind down eighteenin the first quarter. Then obviously I
had mentioned this on the last call, but you know, the game in
Atlanta, huge moment for us.But tonight it's just another one of those
(10:54):
things that's going to create a playofflike intensity and situations for us. And
you know, I just I keepthinking about the bubble and so many of
those ten situations where the body languagewas terrible and there was no excitement and
no identity as a team, AndI think this is the kind of stuff
that's gonna help. But yeah,I leads to me to my second point,
(11:16):
which is I think I'm gonna buya Terrence Man jersey, and I
think I'm gonna go to the gameon Sunday. I'm in. I'm glad
that the Clippers are investing in someof the talent that we actually drafted and
some of these young guys. Imean, Canard we paid the money to
in the in the off season.I mean, you just got you give
him the extension. I think he'sgot to play. I think some of
these guys need to play, youknow. And I love all these established
(11:37):
beasts and stuff that we signed, but you know, the culture is for
longevity here and we know how NBAfree agency is and you know, I
hope guys like Terrence Man stick aroundbecause we need more of that in the
city. Thank you, Adam, appreciate it. Great phone calls, Yead.
Hopefully we'll see you at the gameon Sunday when they're letting in three
(11:58):
thousand fans. I know Clipper Nationis pumped right now. It's their seventh
straight victory. Yes, team Manall season long just been spectacular. He's
provided some of what Patrick Beverly does, But the Clippers have shown this grit
(12:18):
in this fight all year long. When they're down. It's a character building
type of victory. They're still crystallizingthat identity. But I think it's a
refuse to lose attitude. It's arefuse to lose type theme. Here Clippers
(12:39):
win by two on a Reggie Jacksonjumper to beat his former team in the
Detroit Pistons. More Clipper Stock comingup next. Eight seven seven five two
zero eleven fifty eight seven seven fivetwo zero eleven fifty is the phone number,
John Jeff hold on, We'll getto you. Is this Clipper Stock
with Adams and here on the PatriotAm I had money on my man?
(13:01):
I can never get it up.And every time I come up in the
baulding, everybody had gone up,and they stay the havel and they stay
al and they day to have donI do it? Please? Where eating
it you're going? This is theofficial home of your La Clippers beats and
(13:26):
suppots de dates on the rim andthe home of the Clippers. If Man
is the father of the Sun,is a cent to the earth in the
middle of the universe, then whyis this first coming? Six times?
Red hearse? Don't freestyle much whenI write him like such word? Amost
the fiends controlled by the screens? What does it all mean? All this
now seen human beings screaming? Focusown. The Clippers make it seventh straight.
(13:50):
They win in Detroit in a gamewhere they were down by eleven with
under five minutes left, but theywere a plus thirteen in the last five
five minutes and Reggie Jackson hits agame winner. They win one hundred to
ninety eight over his former team inthe Detroit Pistons. Welcome back into Clippers
Talk. I'm Adam Moslin at eightseven seven five two zero eleven fifty eight
(14:13):
seven seven five two zero eleven fifty. Reggie Jackson he got game all season
long. They got two guys onveteran's minimums I've played so far, Abuffet,
it's unbelievable. Between he and NicholasBatoum, who also came up big
late, had a Batoon block slaysMatombo block tomb but just two of seven
(14:39):
from the field and still makes hugeplays. But a Mere Coffee is somebody
we've talked about sporadically this season, and he has the huge steal to get
the ball back for Reggie to beable to knock down that jumper, and
you just knew he was gonna hitit. But a Mere Coffee made some
big time lutch plays. He hada nice lay up, a spinning layup
(15:05):
in the lane in the fourth quarter. He had a tip in in the
first half. He was a plustwenty one in twenty eight minutes in a
game they won by two. Thatdoesn't happen. This group is doing special
things with different guys making plays, winning plays, and finding ways to get
a win when they really had nobusiness winning this ball game. I'm sure
(15:28):
that's how the Detroit Pistons feel rightnow. I mean, I thought I
was gonna have to talk about theClippers being a twelve cylinder car engine,
a Ferrari when they have everybody availableto be in just you know, a
geometro or something like that without theirstarting five tonight, since they're playing in
the Motor City not the case. You can't ever count this bench out.
(15:50):
Bench players became starters, guys whowere tenth man tenth men on this team.
They stepped up Boogie Cousins tonight. In this game, he had eight
points in fifteen minutes. I thoughtlooked pretty good overall. He missed some
mid range jumpers, but he's movingwell. To me, that's the most
encouraging thing in his game. Rightnow, CEJ and al Hambra, you're
(16:14):
on Clippers talk after they come throughagain late they win one hundred to ninety
eight over the Detroit Piston. CJ, what's up? This is crazy?
I mean, this is absolutely beautiful, man. You know you want to
talk about the waving game, wavinglast and waving hardest action. Jackson said,
okay, you wave me. Letme wave bye bye as I go
(16:37):
to championship contention. They I mean, Reggie Jackson was insane. And you
want to talk about Nick Patun.I kind of think Batun is French for
eat Fresh, because he's going tobe our sub of the game every game.
This guy is insane. I thinkJersey Mikes might want to double down
(16:57):
on this because the Tomb is abad man. But you know, one
thing that I really loved was thatTwin Casey kind of tried to pull the
chair on us, especially in thethird quarter, allowing us to go inside
and try to battle it out withCharren's man, and we persevered. This
(17:21):
is a typical case of tortoise versusthe hair, you know what I mean.
I know you've inclinated that it's aflipping of the switch, but tortoise
versus the hair is the way thatthis team's going down. Man Ninja kicked
the damn rabbit. That's I thinkMichael Agela said, and teenage muting Ninja
(17:42):
turtles and they were washing tortoise versusthe hair. Clippers win while only scoring
one hundred points. This is ateam that averages one fifteen a game.
They shot under It's remarkable that theywere able to keep it close enough.
And since I was talking about NicholasBatoum, I want to reiterate what he
(18:03):
did at the end of that thirdquarter in fact even better, we got
the call from no Eagle Rondo atthe mid core logo calling out the play
with seven seconds left, moving tohis right off a screen to patom top
of the key, pump fake onetriple three ball from straight away. He
got filved and he put it inNick Battoum. When you need a big
play, who are you gonna callBig Daddy Battoum. With a four point
(18:29):
opportunity, the Clippers could have beendown eight headed into the fourth quarter.
That completely changes the complexion of thegame. There's more confidence with Detroit.
Perhaps they go on a bigger runand they're up by twenty and the Clippers
don't have that opportunity to come back. Just down eleven with five minutes left,
they put the game out of reach. That could have happened there,
(18:52):
But Saint Nicholas Batoum been doing itall season long, as so many players
here have. But the mix withthis group Our Last Color, Our Color
Earlier. Chad last segment was talkingabout the joy of watching this team when
they're undermanned, when guys have toat times just play above their heads and
(19:15):
find ways to win ball games withouttheir superstars. But there's a joy.
You can tell on the court. These guys just like each other. They're
having fun out there. They talkabout it all the time, which is
why the last three games they hadover thirty assists in three games straight.
Tonight they win even with just tenassists because they just missed so many open
(19:36):
shots and good looks from the outside. Everything was going against them. They
looked like a team that just ranout of gas and didn't have enough horsepower
in the Motor City to beat theDetroit Pistons. With Jeremy Grant back,
who was great. I should alsomention a Beata Zubats had eighteen and thirteen.
(19:57):
Sixteen of those points came the firsthalf, but he had a big
putback in the fourth quarter and wasphysical, physical, physical, Olivia Newton
John levels of physical. He's somuch more aggressive out there now. He
looks like someone who is just brimmingwith confidence. There were times the last
(20:22):
couple of seasons where he just wasn'tplaying enough out there, and now he
plays thirty two minutes. He's beenawesome starting the last month. Without Sergebaka,
I don't know where they would bewithout him, or without Reggie Jackson
in the starting lineup. Because ofinjuries Vitsa Zubots. As Noah Eagle point
(20:45):
out pregame, it's not just thedunks. He's got the zooal cinder in
him, the hook shots, theskill around the rim. I like to
say he's the long lost Gassaul brother. He has some of that game in
him. You don't always see it, but here and there he's that good.
And he's only twenty four before webreak here John. In Inglewood,
(21:08):
John, you're on Clipper Stock withAdam Oslind after they win a game.
They really look to be finally fallingdown after a six game winning street.
They come back and win by two. In Detroit, John, you're on
Clipper Stock. What's up? Hey, Adam? You know it's Sean and
(21:30):
you know what, I'm gonna turnyou up. My hearing's going. You
need a new screener. I don'tknow, but listen, there were so
many positives that came out of thisgame. And I love these type of
games when you're shorthanded, to seewhat the bench is made of. And
they really proved themselves because, let'sface, the shot wasn't falling so many
(21:53):
times they could the game up andlet me just give you a couple of
positives there there. First of aboy cousin, he proved tonight and other
games. I saw even though shorttime stands and he was on the floor,
that he can be a low post, go two guys, and that
you can actually run the offense rebodywhen the low post, and then the
(22:18):
course of these double teams, hecan pass it out to the shooters.
Other partly of the course of alwaysliked Coffee's game, especially when he's in
there. At the same time TerrenceMann is in the game, because they
seem to this disrupt thing and theymake things happen. And sometimes this energy
or sometimes the steel, or sometimesyou vote, but they make things happen.
(22:41):
And in that fourth quarter when youknow all the ships are down,
they didn't give up. They justshowed in tessimal quarter twos, they showed
the will to win. And thisteam is prepared for the playoffs. This
team is prepared to go all theway. This was a very important win,
by the way, because Brooklyn mongsttonight and the Clippers have a better
(23:03):
record than Brooklyn, and then Friday, when they go in and beat Philadelphia
in Philadelphia, they'll have a betterrecord than anybody in the East. Hope
and fans will be back by thissummer at the game from the playoffs,
and home court advantage will be withthe Clippers because they will point to the
West and that's who's going to happenbecause everybody on the team is more focused
(23:30):
than they've ever been, and everybodythat you bring in just tears it up
and they play together with no eaglesin the flow is Austin is great to
see selfless basketball. They've been doingit all season long. Thank you,
Sean not John in Inglewood, youbrought up a mere coffee there. One
(23:52):
of the things I like about runningthe board maybe anyway thing is that I
have the highlights right in front ofme. And he made. As there
were many big time plays when yousnatch victory from the hands of defeat,
here was a mere coffee making thesteal of the game. As things were
(24:14):
tied up at ninety eight with fifteenseconds left, Wayne Ellington, the shooter
is in sidike Bay. Another shooterwill inbound Frank Jackson plumb lad around out
the five, so Bay gets itdown on the far sideline around a couple
of strange Frank Jackson now booked theway by Coffee nearly take it away.
It is Terrence Man has it andthey call it time out. Coffee doesn't
make that play. Detroit could makea shot there. They could have had
(24:36):
their own game winner. It wascritical, and give credit to coach Lou
for having him in in the rightposition at the right time to make that
play. I just can't believe he'sa plus twenty one in a game they
won by only two. The plusminus category I think it works better in
(24:57):
hockey overall, but there's definitely somethingto it, and I think it does
connect to what a mere coffee meantto this team out there tonight. He
had two steals, but none biggerthan that one right there. He also
had seven boards. And the Clippers, We've been saying it all week,
(25:17):
they're just finding ways to win gameslate now, games they might have not
won earlier in the season, butnow they're fifteen and four post All Star
Break, longest winning streak in theNBA. They flip things around defensively,
they showed that tonight Offensively. We'renever worried when this team is healthy,
(25:38):
but for them to make buckets whenthey needed to, for them to catch
fire and outscore the Pistons by thirteenin the last five minutes. When the
Clippers had scored just nine points inthe first seven minutes of the fourth quarter,
they have eighteen points. They doublethat in just the last five minutes
(26:00):
alone. Impressive, impressive victory. And there's so buddy, guys. It's
the ultimate team type of win.But game ball. Reggie Jackson twenty nine
points, had eleven of those onthe first quarter, didn't score in the
second, and then it looked likein the third quarter was intent on making
(26:22):
sure he got it going again.Had eight more points in the third and
got it going and got them goingto Philadelphia. Feeling good with the way
he played late in the fourth quarter. I got to add up just how
many of his ten points in thefourth ended upcoming in those last five minutes
when they were down eleven. I'mguessing old ten of them did. Can't
(26:45):
be sure about that. Luke Kennardwas also going up against his old team
and got just his second double doublein his career, tied a career high
with ten rebounds. While he didstruggle from the field, I felt like
he was press seeing at times goingup against his former team. That can
happen. He was at least beingaggressive, though still attempt at seventeen shots.
(27:07):
Seventeen points to get seventeen shots,it's not that efficient, but he
knocked down a couple of free throws, hit a shot in the fourth quarter.
It took everyone to make a comebacklike this happen. Eight seven seven
five two zero eleven fifty eight sevenseven five two zero eleven fifty is the
phone number. We will take aquick break here, we'll come back.
(27:33):
We'll have more Clippers talk. I'llhave some postgame audio for you. Looking
for some Reggie Jackson postgame audio.I know he was on Prime Ticket afterwards.
Also, coach Lou spoke with themedia after the Clippers. I'm not
calling it the impossible. Let's notget too crazy. We've seen this team
(27:56):
in the last three years come backdown thirty one against the Golden State Warriors
with Kevin Rant but best win ofthe season under the circumstances. You want
to show your heart, will youwin with all five starters while you're down
double digits late? Clippers win onehundred to ninety eight in Detroit. More
(28:18):
Clipper stock coming up next here onthe Patriot AMLM fifty started rocking to Steve.
I come on, don't you knowhow I knew it? Concluse a
us all, Oh, how yourich yet? But you know I'm broke
ey. So this is the officialhome of your La Clippers. Becha Souppots
(28:41):
Deddes on the rim and the homeof the Clippers catching the damn guitar.
(29:07):
Look, if you had one shot, one opportunity sees everything you ever wanted,
one moment that you captured, justlet slip. Reggie Jackson wouldn't let
(29:27):
it slip. Back in Detroit againsthis former team in Eminem's town, he
hits the jumper and the Clippers winby two over the Detroit Pistons with a
final score of one eight hundred.Excuse me, one hundred to ninety eight.
Everybody us that stop calling those numbers. Eight one hundred ninety eight eight
(29:51):
seven seven five two zero eleven fiftyeight seven seven five two zero eleven fifty
is the phone number coming up here? We have postgame audio. I don't
know who it is yet, butwe do have it mystery audio. I
like this, but first let's goto the mystery caller. But I know
who it is, even though itsays a private number. It's Jeff in
(30:12):
Tarzana. Jeff, what's up hereon Clippers stock after they come back down
eleven with five minutes left? Youever, job abam? They're playing Detroit?
Yeah, and they were missing allfive starters, Jeff Ada. I
know that players get hurst. Iknow there's load management pomovis for years,
(30:32):
But how many of those guys werereally first? I think all of them.
I think either they're hurt. Well, there's a difference between hurt and
injured. You have guys that aremanaging injuries right now that aren't exactly going
away overnight. And that's what PGthirteen has been dealing with with that right
foot. Okay, bos wrong withMarcus Morris tonight? He's still, I'm
(30:59):
guessing, is working through that calfinjury that has had him missing games recently.
Okay, he was out for restpurposes, but he has been banged
up, so I'm using some deductionthere to think, Okay, he's still.
Look, this is a team thatis trying to peek in the playoffs.
Jeff. Okay, well, I'lltell you something. You know they
have as good as shot as anybodyto win the championship. But they can
(31:22):
have the inconsistency of having one guyin and one guy out. They need
all their players to win. Well, Jeff let me of course. Yeah,
that kind of goes for everyone, including the Brooklyn Nets. That's the
deal. The healthiest team often youhave a little bit of luck on your
side and you're able to get throughthe gauntlet in the playoffs. But that
(31:45):
the other night, at say,it's not the best team that's gonna win,
it's gonna be the healthiest team.Oftentimes it is that. But let
me ask you this. Yeah, when guys are healthy, when they are
reinserted into the starting lineup, nomatter how many games they have missed,
they just fit right back in.This team just has that instant chemistry all
(32:07):
over the place. Yeah. Well, here's here's what I'm thinking at them.
We want to push the Lakers asfar back as they can. You
know, I would like to seethe Lakers in fourteenth places. But you
know what, as much as Idon't like them, they are an outstanding
team, especially when Anthony Davis Lebroncomes back, and you know, anything
(32:30):
can happen in a short series. And I just don't want them. Clippers
to just think because now they're aheadof the Lakers, that that means they're
gonna win. You know, Idon't think they're gonna get complacent like that.
What happened last year, Adam wasa tragedy, even though I don't
call that a championship. Playing onlywhat forty games last year or fifty games
(32:54):
they played about seventy was it seventygames? Yeah? Are getting into the
bubble and playing the seeding games, okay, And I just think it's this
time. I heard another guy inanother radio station that was complaining about all
the experts are now thinking that Lakersare not as good as the Clippers,
(33:16):
and I don't want all the expertsto be wrong. Jeff, thank you
for the phone call. We needthat showdown desperately. It would be great
for the city, especially if ithappened in the Western Conference finals. It'd
be amazing. These are the twobest teams in the Western Conference. Denver
(33:40):
was dealt a tough blow losing JamalMurray, and that's devastating, not just
for him, not just for theNuggets, for the league. Also because
he's such a great young player.I hope he can come back and be
the guy he was because last season. In the playoffs, he had multiple
fifty point games in the bubble.Remember, Denver didn't just come back on
(34:00):
the Clippers down three one. Theydid it in the first round against the
Utah Jazz. But I thought aftermaking that move to get Aaron Gordon,
they had closed the gap somewhat againstor with the Clippers and the Lakers when
all three teams are fully healthy.Mind you, the Utah Jazz are in
first place for a reason. Theyhaven't dealt with as many injuries. They
(34:21):
are also very good, very talented, and I think people are downplaying just
how good they are. But Iwould have put Denver as the third best
team in the West, behind theClippers and the Lakers. So it could
be a Lakers Denver first round seriesin that four five matchup. Your Clippers
right now are in the three spotand they could be taken on the Portland
(34:43):
Sheryl Blazers. Not a terrible matchupfor them, considering how well they've been
able to guard Damian Lillard. Ofcourse, be careful what you wish for
still to come up here on theshow on Clipper Stock. We have far
bought essence, Shari, but Ido want to get to this mystery post
game him audio after the Clippers havecan at least say their most dramatic win
(35:04):
of the season. Damn it,it was their best win win at the
season. Missing all five starters, you can say, never a doubt,
Jeff. But come on, theywere down eleven with five minutes left.
Let's see who's up first here withour post game audio. All right,
we'll go over to till mayor Hey, but hey, Tyke and grats on
the wine. You guys are downfive intentionally found sort of intentionally fouled plumbly.
(35:31):
He makes both You know, howdid you guys pull that game off?
I mean just like, yeah,we wanted to file plumbing early just
to give us more possessions. Youknow, No, he's not a great
freeblos shooter, got given credityfly maiding, but they wasn't able to run you
know, time off the clock toget their shots, so we just thought
about following him earlier. You know, he's not a great freebo shooter,
(35:52):
but like I said, give himthe credit. He made him, but
it would allow us to get nomore shots at the basket and just kind
of plan a percentages. So Ijust thought, you know, just that's
fout him early. Let's see whathe does. But also I fought him
early. He give us more possession. Reggie hit the both the game tying
shot and the game winner. Foryou guys, uh, you know when
you're watching on the sideline, doyou do you feel that momentum is there?
(36:14):
You almost feel like you can willit in at that point, like
how is your vision to you knowon the sidelines that play. Yeah,
thought would will it in. Youknow, we didn't make shots all night.
We've been really hard for us tocreate shots, you know, you
know a lot of times on thefloor. So I really have ten assists,
but you know, I just talkeddown to stretch. Our defense really
helped us out. You know,a couple of double teams and fires on
(36:34):
on Grant, you know, theinbounds playing with that the flesh and got
a steal. I got some bigstops and that kind of got an offense
going with out in transition, gotsome easy basket. Reggie made the three
and then tea man you know onthe atl just a quick two, you
know from lout of bounce. Youknow, give us a lot of clock,
a lot of time to play with. So our guys did the great
job of executing down to stretch onboth ends of the floor. Joseph,
(36:57):
you can go ahead, hey Ti, the cameras caught you raising both fists
in the air after the final whistle. How satisfying our nights like this for
you as a coach? I wasvery satisfying. I mean, just more
solow for the guys. You know, we had a lot of guys out
and like I said, these youngguys have been playing great our year.
If those guys who step up andplay the way they did was huge,
(37:20):
you know, and just staying together, you know, never losing confidence,
you know, never bicker, andjust staying with the game plan. Like
I said, I'll just having tothose young guys to be able to come
through. Because all of them madebig plays, you know, Lucannard a
couple of free throws, you know, Reggie the three and the and the
pull up to win the game.Team Man, the quick two and the
steel you know, a mirror deflectionand the steel. So all those guys
(37:42):
contribute to Zoo, you know, the putback, and it was just you
know, a total team win.Like I said, they're just having to
be young guys. They're just don'thingfor us to keep building up up,
Mason England, I just wondered ifyou could take us through that last after
a mirror at the deflection, youguys have possession. What was it?
What was the conversation the huddle. Was it just we're gonna let Reggie walk
(38:04):
it up and he'll decide it forus, or was there a play call?
What was the discussion? Like itwas just really just open one,
just bring it up. I'll takethe ball full court and then you know
at seven seconds two two, whypass? I kind of occupied and Reggie
go one on one in the middleof the floor to get the last shot,
and like I said, he didit. Did it to a team
you know, welcome down, gotto a spot and it made a big
(38:25):
shot lay. You can go ahead. Today was the end of the Markus's
ten days and he came in andcontributed, brought a level of physicality.
Just wanted to know what you sawfrom him today and if you're look forward
to him continue on with this roster, Yeah, we look forward for him
(38:47):
to continue. He was big forus. You know. Just the sufferest
thing is ways in the game ishard to run plays because you know,
he's really hasn't called up yet asfar as on the plays because we haven't
had a lot of practice time,So that kind of stumps us a little
bit. But I guess play justknowing the game is acute. We had
to shoot it to post up.Like I said, a brank physicality is
great bar our team. We justgot to get him up to speed in
(39:10):
the playbook just so we can kindof, you know, call more sets.
You know, when he's in thegame, take two more far back
and go ahead it coach served asBanaskeda for and I know that a lot
of the times. Earlier, IReggie was joking about how his teammates coaching
staff didn't wanted to take out theglasses. But after tonight and seeing him
hit all these clutch shots, He'sreally not gonna be able to take it
(39:31):
off now, is he? Keepmom man rip Hamilton's he got a word
of galls for the rest of hiscareer and to Marry can close this up.
You touched up earlier, but thetennis sist you guys had thirty thirty
one, thirty four and thirty five. I think the last couple of games
(39:52):
shooting was a struggle, but justlike what are your trip be the tennis
sists too, And I guess youknow, I think you guys had six.
I don't do that over there.Well, no, no, because
you guys still find a way towin. You guys are still in the
game despite having a little assists total. I know, I'm saying, because
like if you don't have Paz withtwo guys are gonna go into basketball those
guys getting down here and making plays, It's gonna be tough to really get
(40:13):
you know, really get clean openshots. And you know, like our
guys they trying an all the night, trying to create, but it's tough.
We can switch all of them, you know, one through four,
sometimes switching to one through five, and that's not really be able to take
advantage of it, you know,so that kind of hurt us, not
be able to put two on thebasketball. So that right there's gonna you
know, lower your assist total andthen outside of that not making shots too.
(40:34):
So you know, when you havethose key pieces out, you know,
sometimes you get just find ways towin games. However you can do
it. And like I said,I'm part of our guys, but tonight,
just by the way they kept competing. We didn't make a lot of
shots. Like said, offense wasn'tgreat, it wasn't pretty, but we
just kept fighting, kept clawing, you know, Kevin grinding, and that's
my part of our team. Butchances your question, like you know in
PG and Marcus and and Kawhi areout. You know, it's tough to
(40:58):
generate points a lot of nights. But I said, our effort and Angie
defensively can always be there, andI thought would be the great job of
the people, the nest I havein the basketball. There was the head
coach lu post game after the Clipperscome back down eleven with less than five
minutes left, and yes, ReggieJackson had all ten points or all ten
(41:21):
points that he did have in thefourth quarter. They came during that ridiculous
comeback in the last five minutes andit sounded like we had some some breaking
news there. But head coach Louhe was at least inferring that Boogie Cousins
is going to continue on as aClipper. I'd see that's good news.
(41:45):
I like the way Boogie is movingout there, and they need that third
center, especially right now without Sergebaca. Clippers winning a one hundred ninety eight
in Detroit over the Pistons. Comingup next, while more postgame audio you'll
hear from Reggie Jackson and my friendfarbard Essen. Shari will be here.
(42:07):
You're listening to Clippers talk. I'mout of Oslin and this is the Patriot
AM eleven fifty because South Chicks back. This is the official home of your
(42:29):
La Clippers beat to suppots de nadeson the rim and the home of the
Clippers being on some chicks. Wego zero two one hundred real quick.
Maybe you on a rep to paythe bills and now fit it not even
a little bill. Oh lord knowyourself, No, you're worked. My
ex has been a lot of ammy words? How you so? I
(42:51):
was still so done on Earth talkabout zero to one hundred. The Clippers
were down eleven in the final fiveminutes. They win by a score of
one hundred to ninety eight over theDetroit Pistons. Welcome back into Clippers stock.
I'm Adam Oslin, taking you tillthe top of the hour here on
the Patriot AM eleven fifty eight sevenseven five two zero eleven fifty eight seven
(43:15):
seven five two zero eleven fifty isthe phone number joining the show right now
is the Hot Bod far board.Does anyone else remember those commercials? They
were a little nuts that far thatHot Bod cologne spray that came out of
like a fabreeze can. I'm sorry, but the Clippers were hot late.
(43:37):
They come back, they win.Far About Essen Shari is our guest here
far About. I thought this winshowed their will, their resolve. It's
been there all season long, butalso that ability to execute down the stretch
under dress and those are all championshipteam like traits, and the Clippers did
(43:57):
it tonight with their backups. Yeah, I mean they It was one thing
when they were down eleven. Itwas another thing when they were down five
with like forty seconds last because itwas like they were down five or forty
seconds and I think Detroit had theball todode like, that's not a situation
you win. Really somehow they're goingto seven oh run in the final forty
seconds of the game, and somany times they've been on the opposite and
(44:21):
end of that this season, itfeels very good for that to happen to
the end this time. It hadto feel good for Reggie Jackson to bury
his former team that left him deadand buried and waived him last season and
he was dealing with a back injuryin Detroit. He didn't have the same
explosiveness last year. He was hurtat times. This year he's fully healthy
(44:42):
and along with Nicholas Patum, theyare the best bargains in the game.
But for him to hit that shot, and I won't even call it a
hero shot even though he is one, because he was that hot and it
was an open look for him thathe was able to create for himself.
But he goes for a season hightwenty nine points. What can you say
about what Reggie has meant to thisteam all season long? And a lot
(45:05):
of the fact that that Patrick Beverlyhas only played in forty games. I
mean, it's a crazy season becausethere's so many guys you want to say
are important when there's Zoom stepping upand place the surge, but Toombs stepping
up and Reggie stepping up, it'sjust been a season where every single role
player has played huge, huge, huge roles where you wouldn't be anywhere without
(45:30):
some of these guys, Like ifReggie isn't playing at the level he's playing,
I don't know. There's so manygames the Slippers would have lost.
And you know, granted he canhave moments of you know, going really
well and moments of kind of questionabledecisions. He's been more really well this
season than anything, and I thinkit showed a big difference in last season
when they got him. Think I'mat the trade deadline. The hiatus happens
(45:53):
like three weeks later, and hestays in a hotel for the entire hiatus,
never really gets time to get acclimatedat anything. And now it seems
like you can really see the differencewith him getting acclimated to the team.
Far bod Essenshari is my guest hereon Clippers Talk after Reggie Jackson hits a
game winner over his former team inthe Detroit Pistons and the Clippers win one
(46:14):
hundred to ninety eight. It istheir seventh straight victory. Follow far Boat
at farbot underscore E on Twitter.Farbot is you like to say big batoon
blocks. I like big Daddy battoonblocks. We like Batumbo as well.
(46:35):
I'm going to a place to talkabout Nicholas Batoum and what he's meant to
them defensively. The last couple ofgames he helped kind of ignite that defense
when there wasn't much of any.The Clippers were much better defensively tonight.
But he also has just come upso huge all season long and had the
four point play at the end ofthe third quarter. Without that, I
(46:55):
don't know if they could have abcould have been able to muster up the
energy to come back on a Detroitteam that might have been a little bit
more confident entering that fourth quarter theywere up eight instead of four. Yeah,
I mean, he's it just feelslike everybody's hit the fountain of youth
all of a sudden, all theirveterans. But every every game it feels
(47:21):
like he hits the clutch shot.He somehow just manages to hit the most
like unexpected and the most important shotsof the game. We were like,
oh wow, I guess that happened. And him and Reggie have just been,
you know, stepping it up allyear, and you can tell it's
because of the environment that they're in. Even when you know when Reggie when
he hit that game winner, hesaid it was because of all the confidence
(47:43):
his teammates gave him. That everybodykept telling him the entire time, you're
gonna make the shot, don't worryabout it, And that Tyler drew the
play up for him too, itseems like but Tom has that same level
of confidence from his teammates. Justthe vibes all around are much different this
season. I think last season theywere struggling to figure out how to go
from being the underdog to the overallfavorite and now they've kind of slipped under
(48:06):
the radar again, and it justseems like the vibes and the pressure is
much different. Good vibes, y'all. Terrence Man brings those plus buckets,
plus a love that he always goesand hugs everybody. He hugged to Marcus
Cousin, hug Steve Ballmer. Youjust always see him all super excited hugging
somebody at the end of a bigwin. Hey, that's how tight this
(48:28):
group is. But obviously he hadtwo of the biggest plays late, the
big throwdown, But more impressively tome was the fact that he kicked it
back out to Reggie Jackson to tiethe game with that three pointer after Nicholas
Batoum stole it from Jeremy Grant. But to make a play like that in
just his second year to have thewherewithal and the presence of mine and the
(48:49):
court awareness to know that they neededa three. Reggie is hot, he
can kick it back out for anopen one. Terrence Man has been unbelievable.
But in the fourth quarter he makesso many winning plays tonight obviously no
different. Yes, it's again oneof those stories where somebody else is just
somehow stepped up and well, youcould see his games evolved entirely different during
(49:14):
the course of the season. Therewas a point in the season where if
Terence Mann was in the corner fora three, he was like thirty six
percent or thirty five percent, Likeif you were the opposition, you'd want
him to take it. Now,I think he's in the fifties. It's
not the fifties and the high highforties. So it's his game is entirely
different, and he's playing with amuch different swagger and it attests to everyone
(49:37):
on the team where even you lookedat like like a guy like a mere
coffee, look at him. He'smaking huge plays every single game that he's
in, Like every single guy onthe team, even Patrick Patterson big plays
when he's in a lot of timestoo. Every guy on the team you
could argue deserves a roster spot onany team. Coach Lou called it a
(49:58):
TTW, a total team win.He also and can you confirm this for
me? He seemed to allude tothe fact that Boogie Cousins would be sticking
around longer as his ten days areup. Yeah, he said. They
asked if he was gonna, youknow, continue after ten days, and
he said, we're looking forward tocontinuing with him beyond these ten days.
(50:19):
So he didn't say anything about likeif they're going to sign him or he
was gonna get signed to another tendays. He just made it sound like
they are going to use him pastthese ten days without any specifics. Do
you like his fit his role onthis team especially? I thought he played
pretty well at times in this one. Was a plus zero out there,
but I mean did have a turnover, but had eight points and they need
(50:43):
somebody else like that, even ifjust having that big body, especially come
the playoffs. Yeah, it seemslike he still hasn't I mean, I
think Kay had mentioned it. Hehasn't really gotten that much time to practice,
and you can kind of tell withBoogie like he's just being himself.
And relying on talent, but he'she hasn't really figured out the systems yet.
But he does a good job ofbeing an agitator in the post and
(51:06):
drawing fouls, and he does apretty good job of getting those rebounds.
So I think if he can finetune his game in the way that you
know Reggie or Batum has with thisteam, he could be a good,
you know, solid contribution. Andwe still don't know how long Surge is
going to be out for. Ithink he might be out for at least
another two to three weeks at least, So I mean, bro, he's
(51:28):
gonna get playing time far by.Let's be real here, how many times
did you think the Clippers were outof this game? In your final in
the fourth quarter, like at leastthree times there was a point where they
kept getting steals and then they justwouldn't score on like layup or really close
mid range shots, and then itwas like, hey, eight points or
(51:51):
something, and I was like, all right, it's over. And I
think that I expected it to beover at least three times. But even
even in the final forty seconds, you're you're down five with the other team
having the ball at forty seconds likeit's kind of over. But somehow Reggie
Jackson was a part of a comebackagainst the Clippers in the playoffs and they
were you know, up five up, and don't get me started about those
(52:17):
reps. Yes against the Okay,he fouled CP three on that play he
did in that game. I rememberthat was when I was an intern,
right. I had the text loadedup in my phone on the intern group
check up three two. Oh mygod, this is wild and I never
(52:38):
never got to send that text.I feel like this Clippers team with Reggie
Jackson can have some of that luck. The basketball gods certainly owe them.
Uh they've been due for a whilenow to have a little bit of that
luck on their side as it usuallytakes to win a championship. Sometimes it
is things like that that make allthe difference in the world. He is
(53:00):
far bought Ess and Shari at Farbotunderscore E on Twitter. He covers them
for SI Now. He also worksfor the Bleacher Report. He has broken
news such as, oh, Idon't know James Harden going to the Nets
a month before Adrian Ward Tarowski orShams and his missiles had it. Far
(53:20):
Bought thanks for coming on tonight.I appreciate it, man, thank you.
And I can't stress enough how goodof a win this was. When
your fifth game, seven nights backto back, second night on the road,
shoot under forty percent from the field, shoot under thirty percent from three,
and you somehow got it it out. It's just a great wit.
I thought there was gonna be apunchline there at the end, and you
(53:42):
were going to take credit for itbecause you were coming on Clippers Stock tonight
and you've had that good luck inthe past. Nah. I actually was
expecting, like we're gonna going lotfarbough. We'll talk soon, my friend.
Thanks so much for coming on ClipperStock. Before we get out of
here, let's hear from the midof the hour, Reggie Jackson post game
(54:04):
here you Reggie, congrats on thewin. After the game, you were
talking to Brian Semen and Mike forTello and you called Detroit home. How
much did this city, these fanshelped shape the person that we see before
us tonight? Everything I said leftOklahoma City, young young boy, just
(54:24):
want an opportunity, you know,a chance to prove myself in this league
and to come here, play herefor five and a half seasons. It
was a blessing, honestly was ablessing. Is shaping, you know,
the ups and downs of the league, the tough nights, the joyous times,
learning how to try to be consistent. You know, it shaped me
(54:45):
on and off the course. SoI'm private thankful for my time spent here.
And you know, other than whenwe were playing them playing, you
know, the Pistons die definitely,Mother Texans, you know, the old
guys who are here at the facilitystill with their organization. I wish him
the best. I always wish himthe best forever, and I have a
pistol blover and through my veins, and so I'm forever thankful and forever and
(55:08):
gratitude, you know for with thisorganization and sitting up on thank you thanks.
Would it be Team Reggie? Canyou take you through that sequence from
your perspective when you guys were downninety eight ninety three, Terris gifts this
basket, you get the three tosteal the other steal and doing all of
(55:30):
that without your top weapons out there, with no Kawai, no Paul Josh
Marcus. How'd you guys pull thisoff? Just being a resilient group.
Honestly, it's the team is withours and downs, with our injuries,
that we're just staying throughout the year. With guy's been in all up.
I think, you know, it'sbeen little tops of turvy. It's been
(55:51):
tough four us of times, butI think it's shaking us into who we
are find away, continue to leanon each other as brothers. Final Weight
team hold home despite you know, whatever the situation might be at night,
and to get a win, youknow, without those guys out with pad
out. We wanted to keep ashrink alot. But I'm really proud of
the way our young guys battle, where they continue to fight, the way
(56:14):
they never gave up kind of waysto get stops, kown ways and take
a generate offense. And like Isaid, I'm just proud of this this
group and just happy to be apart of this group. Thanks to me
too. We go to Miriam,Hey, Reggie, congrats man. I
wanted, uh you mentioned resilience,Like how how hard is it though to
(56:35):
sort of kind of keep fighting inthis situation when being so shorthanded and then
just you know, having to besuch an offense and struggle like I mean,
it would be understandable, like ahuman nature at some point for you
guys to go, well, okay, six in a row, that's enough.
Yeah, I think it would beeasy to pop out and ahead and
the rest of the ways. Wreston that shriek that we had. But
I'm just proud of when we repeatedand I know what I'm saying, I
(57:00):
explaying Okahoma City was you started sayingwith a young dumn athletic And I fortunate
enough we have some of our youngguys out there just shawn athleticism, their
competter nature and find the ways toget stops, you know. Like I
said, the whole team was theredoing everything they do. Nicks. Oh,
(57:20):
we'll have more from Reggie coming upin our very next show. But
we're up against it here. AndI did want to let Morris and Long
Beach get on before we get out. Morris, what's up yard Clippers stock
Adam. I just wanted to listenNorth and call the game. This brother
can call a game. If youthink Johnny Moss and Jack Kin got a
(57:43):
going on, this guy can callthe game. I mean, you got
to stop what you're doing. WhenNo Eagle is calling me, I'm not
kidding you. It's not a bitwith Detroit. Who's getting excited about me?
I was excited when jack did hitthat shout out said, oh my
god, this is a big deal. This guy can call the game.
That's all I want to say atthem to you next time. That's why
I wanted to bring you on.He's the future goat for a reason.
(58:04):
Enjoy him. Clipper Nation, yougot another good one. Clippers win again.

They win one hundred to ninety eight. Their next game is in Philadelphia,
