(00:27):
a victory. The Knicks win oneO six to one hundred over your Los
Angeles Clippers. Welcome into Clippers Talk. I'm Adam Oslin to eight seven seven
five two zero eleven fifty eight sevenseven five two zero eleven fifty is the
phone number or get to me atfollow Adam a on Twitter. Coming up
on the show momentarily we will havepostgame audio from TLU and the players.

(00:52):
I know Nicholas Batoum has already spoke. We'll get to your phone calls.
Also coming up Clippers super fan andanalyst Joey Lynn, a brother from Biola
University at Joey Lynn two ends atthe end with an underscore is where you
follow him out and see all thegreat memes and content. He has his

(01:12):
clips Convo's YouTube channel as well wherehe does some deep dives, some in
depth analysis on this team. He'sfantastic. He's been coming on with me
all season long. But the Clippers, They're come back, came up short
late. Kawhi Leonard finally got itgoing late in that fourth quarter, but
it was too little, too late. He had nine of his twenty nine

(01:34):
points in the fourth had another nine, so eighteen of his points came in
the first quarter and in the fourthquarter. But after starting three of five,
he would just go six for hisnext twenty one. Now, beggars
can't be choosers. We did wantto see him be more aggressive out there
and take more shots. He didthat. He had attempted just twenty seven

(01:55):
shot attempts field goal attempts. Thelast three games he attempted twenty six to
nine alone. He just couldn't getin any sort of consistent rhythm, and
he looked to be frustrated, visiblyfrustrated out there by the lack of calls
he was getting. Although he didgo to the free throw line seven times,
goes seven of seven, four ofnine from distance, hit some big

(02:15):
shots, and got the Clippers twowithin three late I believe, or within
four late after hitting a three pointerwith about ten seconds left, but Clippers
had to Faltaj Gibson and he wouldgo on to hit both and they lose
by six. I actually thought thisgame turned earlier though. This game may

(02:35):
have been lost in the first half, when the Clippers had a nine point
lead after Paul George made a drivinglayup with four forty one left in the
first half, and somehow they foundthemselves down two after those next five minutes
at the half, they simply wentcold. The New York Knicks, we're

(02:59):
doing good things off defensively, andthe Clippers were down two at fifty six
to fifty four at the half. When they had a nine point lead,
it looked like they could have beenup double digits going into the half,
and maybe they could have carried thatmomentum into the second half, where they
still struggled, where at one pointthe New York Knicks were up ten early
in the first quarter the Clippers earlyin the first half of the third quarter.

(03:23):
The Clippers would close that third quarterwell, real well, and it
was Patrick Beverley who I'm sure itwas a site for sore eyes when he
finally got a three pointer to gostruggled last game against the Los Angeles Lakers,
was just one of four or oneof three from the outside in this
game, one of four overall. The only points he had, though,
was that big three pointer at theend of the third quarter. DeMarcus Cousins

(03:46):
also got a bucket late on anice assist from Nicholas Batoum. But the
Clippers felt like it just felt likethey were in an uphill battle today against
a Knicks defense that was swarming andsuffocating and traveled well. And Tibbs this
is what he does. He playsguys heavy minutes, and I guess they

(04:06):
were well conditioned enough for a gamelike this on the road where Reggie Bullock
ended up playing forty six minutes toget to his twenty four points. Former
Clipper back on the day RJ Barretthad eighteen. I think eleven of those
came in the second half he playedforty five minutes, and Derreck Rose had
nineteen points on the first half, finished with twenty five played thirty two minutes

(04:30):
when eleven of seventeen hit a coupleof big three pointers. But I really
felt like Julius Randall, their mainman in the middle, who's having a
spectacular season, who has shown somuch growth in his game from the outside,
where he's shooting forty one percent fromthree on the season. That is
also what the Clippers team averages asa whole. They're doing historic things there.

(04:50):
But Julius Orange, Julius was ableto get six of his fourteen points
in the fourth quarter and keep theClippers at bay whenever they made a run.
He hit a ridiculous step back jumperfrom about eighteen feet out that was
very well contested by PG thirteen.Didn't matter, he sunk it. So

(05:13):
all six of his points in thatfourth quarter, they were big. They
were huge. They kept the Clippersat bay, and even though he was
just seven of nineteen for the game, I believe he was four of fourteen
headed in to that fourth quarter, where he would go three of five.
Finished with fourteen points and fourteen rebounds. Clippers lost the rebounding battle by two
in this game, and they didn'tshoot their usual percentage from the outside.

(05:35):
After starting off at about forty onepercent at seven of eight on seven of
eighteen makes from three in the firsthalf, they finished just twelve of thirty
five, so they would hit justfive three pointers in the second half.
Yes, it's a maker miss league, but I'm gonna give the New York
Knicks a lot of credit. Eventhough the Clippers did miss a few open

(05:57):
ones, they were wrote hating verywell. They were there, more physical
team. They were out working theClippers, I thought. And the Clippers
turnover problem, while they just hadthirteen of them, New York converted that
into eighteen points. That's very efficientin the turnover game for a team.
A point per turnovers pretty good. They were able to do better than that,

(06:19):
and the Clippers five of those camein the third quarter. Once again,
they couldn't get out of their ownway, some miscues, some self
inflicted type of wounds. It wasn'tthe twenty two turnovers we saw the other
night against the Los Angeles Lakers. But this obviously because of the Lakers' injury.
This New York's Nicks team is moretalented out there today, and they

(06:42):
played better. They were more insync, They out executed the Clippers.
They made the bigger shots with thebig shots when they needed to. And
Paul George having fourteen of his eighteenpoints and just one quarter finishes just eight
of twenty, just felt like helost that aggressiveness. At one point,
he had fourteen points in the secondquarter, and I thought I was going

(07:04):
to turn into what we saw againstthe Lakers there the other night, where
all of his scoring came in thefinal three quarters, And you could say
it did. It just wasn't asefficient as it was against the Lakers,
and he finished with just eighteen insteadof twenty four points. But he was
so hot in that second quarter, and the next shot he hits was early

(07:25):
in the fourth it was a jumper, and then he finally got to the
basket and got a layup in thelate in the fourth quarter, but not
enough finishes just eight of twenty. He and Kawhi Leonard combined to go just
seventeen of twenty six from the field, and Paul George was just two of
nine from the outside, when he'sshooting forty two percent from three on the

(07:46):
season. I liked the volume thereat nine. I'd like to see it
ten or eleven, but that's stilla solid number. That's above his average
attempts. He couldn't get some shotsto go. He had some decent looks.
I did think Nicholas Batoum was providedthat spark. Saint Nick had thirteen
points. They all seemed to bemassive, but he had that five oho

(08:07):
run at one point by himself earlyin the fourth quarter when they really needed
it, five oh run when theywere down by ten. He had a
three and then a steal and thena layup. On the other end,
he was good, but the Clippersconsistently couldn't string runs together. They scored
just forty six points in the secondhalf. This is a team that averages

(08:31):
about one hundred and thirteen points pergame, so this was well off from
what they normally do offensively. Andto me, and I've heard a lot
of this first round matchup talk, and there are just four games left in
the regular season. The Clippers areforty five and twenty three, and we
can talk about that. We will. But one of the things I wanted

(08:52):
to zero in on is a lotof people were saying, well, you
want the Lakers now because Lebron Jameshas been out, Anthony Davis is starting
to round in the form. Helooked very good against the Portland Trailblazers the
other night. But I would say, as much as the Lakers aren't hitting
on all cylinders, it's not likethe Clippers are exactly either. They aren't

(09:16):
playing their best basketball right now. They had just lost three in a row
before winning the last two before losingtoday to the Knicks. And Kawhi Leonard
has just come back from that footinjury. This was just his fourth game,
and obviously his shooting hasn't been Hehasn't been nearly as efficient from the
field right now, So they're notclicking the way they were a few weeks

(09:37):
ago coming out of the All StarBreak. Now holding the Knicks to one
oh six, that's not a badnumber. Defensively, they were probably good
enough to win this game. Butoffensively, the shot making, the quality
of shots, it wasn't there.Credit the Knicks for some of this,
but I would just say the Clippersstill have work to do. And TLU

(09:58):
wasn't happy when they had the twentytwo turnovers against the Lakers, even in
a twenty four point win. That'sthe thing. A win isn't always a
win, a loss isn't always aloss. You can learn from victory,
you can learn from defeat. Andhe thought they got sloppy and disinterested in
that game, and you can't playlike that. And at times in this
game there were some of that theyhad seven turnovers in the first half.

(10:22):
They had six more in the secondhalf, but five came in the third
quarter. That's why I say toolittle, too late. They got together
in the fourth had just one oftheir turnovers there, but they were down
by ten and they were climbing uphill. They were ice skating up hill.
It was that type of game forthe Clippers. And you just being
down by ten in the fourth quarterto this New York's Knicks team with that

(10:46):
defensive mentality that they have and howhard they were working out there and how
in sync they were with five guyson a string, it was gonna be
difficult. I do like the factthat Kawhi Leonard came through late. It
just wasn't enough, but still hadnine points in that fourth quarter and Paul
George finally went to the basket late. But they were tinkering a little bit

(11:07):
with lineups. You could see that. That's also something t Lewis talked about.
That's something they were going to trydown the stretch here, a little
bit of experimenting, seeing what workswhat doesn't. But we talked about it
postgame with Noah Eagle or your Voiceof the Clippers. It was interesting that
Terrence Man didn't play. Luke Kennarddidn't play in this one, and it's
sounded pregame like Luke Knard was definitelygoing to be one of the guys that

(11:28):
was going to be trying out witha second unit to see if he's a
better fit there, because he playedsome in that Lakers game and helped them
spread the floor with his three pointshooting next to Rondo and Decause and Nicholas
Batoum and Patrick Beverley. He getsa DNP as this Terrence Man, and
I thought Noah made a great point. When you're playing a team like the

(11:50):
New York Knicks, the hard hat, bring your lunch pail to work type
of team, I would have thoughtTerrence Man could provide a spark here.
But I trust Tlu implicitly. Heis a mastermind, and I'm sure he
was looking for something. But noof eats a Zubas late in the game,

(12:11):
and I just didn't feel like theylooked for him enough. And that
third quarter they finally got a fewpasses to him, some real nice passes,
a pocket pass by Paul George andhe had a nice kickout. It
eats a Zubos to Kawhi Leonard fora corner three in that third quarter.
He's become such a good passer nowon that short role. But he only

(12:35):
plays twenty one minutes in this game. Goes three or four, has six
points and eight rebounds. Was productiveout there, but didn't play late.
They were going small. Marcus Morrisstarted off o verse seven against his former
team. He was my player towatch. I'll own it, but I'll
also say he was my player towatch when he went for his season high
with the Clippers with thirty three pointstwo. So I don't know what you

(12:58):
make of it. I'm gonna saythis, the players the side. The
players are the ones who put inthe work. I don't think I have
any power over this. He finishedwith just seven points four boards. All
seven did come in the second half, played just twenty seven minutes. Clippers
fall by six at home to theNew York Knicks. There are just four
games left in the regular season.Their next one is coming up in Tampa

(13:20):
Bay. Who were they playing Notthe Tom Brady Buccaneers, but yes,
the Toronto Raptors. They're located therefor this season. Before we break,
Morris and Long Beach Morris. What'sup here on Clippers stock without Muslin.
Clipper nations say it loud. We'vegot the best team that's still around.

(13:43):
Yes, no need to talk tome. We're got is on the street.
These Clippers got a team. Everybodyknow they're time to win a marine.
You yeah, him. You knowwhat happened tonight. Remind me of
your boy Doc Rivers when he saidfamous words right down in the annals of
NBA. It's to make misleague andwhere are guys? Our guys were missing

(14:05):
the bar. We we couldn't expectto win that one. And you took
my thunder from you. Now,if if Kawhi is not popping and George
is not popping, here come here, come Canard. And when I will
tell you, I know Canard gonnaget on the floor. And they never
bought him in. But I reallybelieve. I think these coaches are strategizing.
Clippers lost, Oh yeah, butI've seen it. Oh. I
saw a Brooklyn lost Fourth Street, nobody saying nothing. I saw Denver had

(14:28):
a big lead and lost, Nobodysaying nothing. So nobody gets the past.
Everybody goes through. But I believewe got the best team going and
why why? Another reason why wemay have lost, aside from the coach
trying to strategize everything, it's aboutintensity and desire. Who wants it the
most, and the New Yorker wantedus tonight, but our guys were cold
and it happened. So you know, I'm not gonna apologize for the loss.
Okay, talks lead to my friendthe Morrison long Beach a great call

(14:50):
as always. The thing is,the Clippers got off to a ten oh
start. They were up big early. Now double digit leads that you have
in the first half the first quarter, they often are relinquished. But the
Clippers looked to be locked in fromthe outset. But it was almost like
when that swarming New York Knicks defensesettled in a little bit, we've got

(15:13):
their sea legs underneath them. Itturned into a different game. They made
every possession, They made the Clipperswork on every possession. On offense,
they were very good in this one. Clippers lose by six at home to
the New York Knicks. Coming up, we mentioned him. You'll hear from
Tylo. Joey Lynn will also behere on the show. We'll get back
to your phone calls. Eight sevenseven five two zero eleven fifty eight seven

(15:35):
seven five two zero eleven fifty.Clippers next game is on Tuesday in Tampa
against the Toronto Raptors. I'm atamoslind and you are listening to Clippers Talk
here on the Patriot AM eleven fifty. Clippers fall at home one oh six

(15:58):
to one hundred at the hands ofthe York Knicks. Welcome into your Clippers
post games show. I'm Ata Monthland. You're listening to Clippers Talk here on
the Patriot AM eleven fifty eight sevenseven five two zero eleven fifty eight seven
seven five two zero eleven fifty asthe phone number. We'll get back to
your phone calls. Joey Lynn willbe here in the very next segment.
There was a key sequence in thefourth quarter where the Clippers had cut it

(16:23):
to six with just under six minutesleft, and it was a beautiful ra
Gen Rondo assist after a hustle playedto get to an offensive rebound and underhanded
assist to his wildcat Kentucky brethren toMark his cousins, who threw it down.
But twenty seconds later RJ. Barrettmakes a twenty five foot three pointer

(16:45):
and it's back to a nine pointgame. It just felt like the New
York Knicks would continue to respond andmake shots when they needed to against the
Clippers today. Credit them. DerekRose had a throwback type of Formans started
nine of nine from the field, had nineteen points in the first half alone,

(17:07):
and then hit a couple of threepointers on the second half that were
crucial. And Kawhi Leonard and PaulGeorge, they could just not get it
going for the most part outside ofthat second quarter for Paul George, outside
the first and the fourth quarter. For Kawhi Leonard, he really struggled.
After the first quarter, he startedoff three or five from then on,
just six of twenty one from thefield. I do think it's a good

(17:29):
thing though, overall, just forhim to get the shots up. He'll
work his way out of this slumpas long as he stays aggressive. I'm
not concerned with either of the twoone three connection because of this one game
or because of Kawhi Leonard's four gamessince he returned from that foot injury.
Let's hear from the head coach, though, t lou After the Clippers fall
one oh six to one hundred atStaples Center to the New York Knicks.

(17:52):
Here he was postgame speaking with themedia. We'll go with Cam, I
guess we'll start. Don't see aKim. I'm not I wanted to coach.
I wanted to get to this pregameand it's a it's a little it's
away from basketball. But I wantto ask you, considering your upbringing,
talk about the influence your mom hasbeen to you. Considering this Mother's Day,

(18:15):
She's been everything to me. Youknow, everything we didn't have as
a kid, growing on me andmy sister and my little brother. She
did everything she could to make surewe had, you know, what we
needed. And I said, Ialways love my mom. She's always been
there for me since day one.You know, the toughest thing in my
life, I think when I hadto move to Kansas City my softball year

(18:37):
in high school to live with mymucle for a better opportunity, to have
a father figure in my life andto try to take my basketball to another
level. Me and my mom isseparate. At that time, it was
the toughest thing I ever had todo. It was tough on her as
well. So I mean, anythingthat I can always give her, I
want to give it the world. She'd mean so much to me, as
well as my grandma who also steppedin and did a great job of racing

(19:00):
as well. So those two ladiesright there, I would do anything.
And as I love my mom,I love my grandma and Happy Mother's Day,
I get coach. How would theyHow do they impact your coaching out
aside from you being a person thatyou are. What type of influence do
they have on your coaching? Hesaid? Coaching? Yes, just knowing

(19:21):
how to treat people. I thinkit's the biggest thing communicate. Knowing how
to treat people, Knowing how totreat people the right way. And I'll
make taught me that my whole upbringing. But just having respect and knowing how
to treat people good. Andrew,it's I felt like today was one of
the first time in weeks you've hada chance to play more conventional rotations with

(19:42):
Kawai go on the first and thirdquarter. What you what you see from
that those rotations getting back to somewhatnormal. It was good, you know,
just trying to figure out what cousinson the floor, just you know,
the things are run, the thingsyou can pick up and understand but
having Kawai played that first quarter wasI have a teaching with the second in
it, you know. So it'sjust something we gotta continue to keep figuring

(20:04):
out. I thought their pressure tonight, you know, the physicality really
wars down, you know, throughoutthe course of the game, and it
really got into us and really testsus ball handling, our passing, and
they were physical with us all night. Yeah. Yeah, obviously their defenses
excellent this year, But did youfeel like you guys gave them easy opportunities
to get out of sessions without pointsbecause there was the over dribbling or turnovers.

(20:26):
I think you guys made it easieron them that it's necessary. Yeah,
I think so. I think wecame into the game just talking about
they were gonna stunt off the passand they're gonna jump the elbows. There's
gonna be physical. We got toown our space, you know, and
I thought early on, you know, we did that, and then I
think as a game went along, the kind of wars down and you know,
their physicality and the telpns kind ofyou know wars down going, you

(20:49):
know too. The second half. Thanks as for going to Miriam's. In
terms of physicality, how hopeful Bogyin that regard you can bring him like,
yeah, cousins really good for us. Just the biggest problem, like
I said, just offensively, justtrying to catch up and understand what we
need to run and things like that. But you know, his presence on

(21:11):
the floor, with the physicality andhaving a post presence, you know,
a guy that teams respect and doubleteam and so he's a good for us
in that regard. But we justgotta just give him up a speed on
the offensive edge. But now alsoask me about Nick from and you always
wanted to shoot seeing sometimes a youhave more faith in the shot than he
does. But tonight he let itfly and help. Yeah he did early,

(21:32):
and I thought he turned something downyou know late, you know into
that fourth quarter where they percent threepoint shoot or so whatever. You know,
he's over. He has to takethose shots because we don't, you
know, we usually gonna get aworse shot. So I'm just, you
know, just keep preaching on thatfall was great today. I thought we
got down ten to get a hugethree, you get a big steal for
it. Dumb to kind of giveus a chance to get back in the
game. But I thought he wasreally good overall. Thanks you got time

(21:56):
for two more. We'll go toJustin Russel, coach. You guys got
out to a ten nothing lead, and then it kind of just seemed like
everything almost went in like slow motionfor you guys. Did it feel like
the energy was off at all?Was this just a game where just nothing
went right? I don't know aboutthe energy. I just you know,
feelings that we got to a goodstart. We got the defensive technical calls,

(22:19):
so Reggie Bullet got a free throw, and then they kind of got
gone. You know, that's shooting. There was coaches dup, there was
coach lew and Adam Oslin cutting himoff on an accident. Postgame Clippers lose
by six to the New York Knicks. He mentioned to Marcus Cousins there by
the way, that was one ofthe questions about his physicality and what he's

(22:41):
brought to this Clippers team. Andhe was a plus eleven in sixteen minutes
in a game that they lost bysix. Cousins has been so good and
didn't attempt a three pointer in thisone. Everything was at and near the
basket. Guys were looking for andmore. That connection with Rajon Rondo,
who led them with eight assists andjust twenty three minutes, has been so

(23:02):
good. And Nicholas with him therethat question there at the end by Miriam
he had eight of his thirteen pointsin the first quarter. Clippers got off
to a good start. They hadthat energy at first, but once that
defense from the New York Knicks startedto set in, it wore them out
physically. That's what t Lou said. I'm paraphrasing a little bit, but
you could see it out there onthe floor. Clippers lose by six quickly.

(23:26):
Mitch in New Jersey, you're onClippers stock without'm awslin, Mitch,
what's up? Him? Will speak? What's up? Hey? I hope
they picked how you doing? Mthanks Till. I hope they pick up
their intensity. He's getting the place. I think second place that was over.
They get second place there not gonnaget it. I'm over. Of
course, leg is playing a playinggame. It'd be great for us.

(23:48):
I want to see more going tothe defense. We talked about playing.
I will ticking them with the lineup, but you gotta go more than eight
nine guys, you know, likePattison. I want to see man Morelson
no reason help tocome player and gogo to Zoobak more often. I wish
he'd give him the bar more oftento help out. And he's so great
in the paint. I won onething. Who's this guy, Jay Scrub?

(24:10):
Is that real? Is that areal guy? I'm just teased with
you. I'm just teased you.I want to see him play till for
the season overa not doing aseason causeit's got pays dues. Thanks Adam Mitch,
thank you for the phone call.I do as well. Jay Scrub
was pick fifty five in the draftthis past season. Was coming out of

(24:32):
a small community college, was goingto go to Louisville, Kentucky. He
had some academic issues. He decidedto come out in the draft. And
I think when you're talking about valuein the talent level of this young man,
well, his athleticism jumps off thescreen. You could say when you
are watching him in highlights, heis unbelievable. And we'll see I joked

(24:56):
earlier. And obviously he didn't playin this game. They only went four
guys deep off the bench. Buthe could be some secret weapon that no
team has any idea how to scoutfor because we haven't seen him all season
long. He's been out with thisfoot injury. But I can't wait to
see him. I'm hoping because hebecame available today in this game. In

(25:18):
the last four games, and oneof those games we see Jay scrub get
some run out there, I wouldnot be shocked. Clippers lose by six
to the New York Knicks. Comingup next, we'll have our friend Joey
Lynn on. You're listening to ClippersTalk here on the Patriot Am fifteen.

(25:47):
When we let the music go thislong, you know it's outcast. Zach
l Caldy with the tunes. Clipperslose one o six to one hundred to
the New York Knicks at state pollscents or that. Our next game is
coming up Tuesday in Tampa Bay.They are taking on the Toronto Raptors.
Coming up, we'll get back toyour phone calls at eight seven seven five
two zero eleven fifty eight seven sevenfive two zero eleven fifty. But joining

(26:14):
the show right now is our friendJoey Lynn, Clippers expert super fan and
the voice of the Biola Eagles,a place I was an outcast at,
or at least I feel like sometimesOkay, I'm sorry. You know,
once you get out of college, the more distance you get from the bubble,
it's just different. But I knowJoey is enjoying himself even though the
Clippers did lose today. Joey, let's hear those dulcet tones talk about whether

(26:38):
or not this game and this losswas more about it's a make misleague or
there were more concerning things that yousaw in this game. Well, Adam,
thank you first and foremost for theintroduction. Always a pleasure hopping on
with you. To answer your question, I think it's I think it's more
of the first point you made talkingabout it just being a make miss league.

(27:00):
It was one of those games thatit's a little bit frustrating because the
Clippers have been up and down thepast couple of weeks. And that's what
I tweeted out at the end ofthe game. I'm less concerned with their
battle for the three seed than Iam with just their inconsistency over the past
couple of weeks. It seems likethey've put together a good stretch of games
and then there's been a stretch offour play today I think was just a

(27:22):
combination of both. As you said, one of those make missy type games.
But also the energy was not therefor certain spurts, and that would
be the only thing that I wouldpoint out as a little bit more concerning
than just misshots. But if youlook at the box score, obviously Kawai
and PG struggled seventeen for forty sixcombined. Between those two, you're probably

(27:45):
not going to beat very many teamsshooting that poorly, especially a good defensive
team like the Knicks. And alsotwo of me Marcus Morris two for nine,
very uncharacteristic day for him. That'sthe top five three point shooter going
by percentage in the league. Iwould say certainly as a combination of bold,
not a game to hit the panicbutton. Over was a lot of

(28:07):
shots that you would normally expect togo in, but also there were spurts
where I think the energy lapsed alittle bit, and that is something that
I would like to see changed.Clippers fall one or six to one hundred
to the New York Knicks at StaplesCenter. Joey Lynn is our guest here
on Clippers Talk. Joey and stickingwith one of the positives since he's put
on a Clippers uniform. It lookslike ra Gene Rondo has been rejuvenated.

(28:30):
He looks like he's giving us aplayoff preview of what he's going to be
able to do and has done inhis career. Are you surprised at all
with the level of production they've gottenout of Jen Rondo and really just the
athleticism and the burst he has shownoff getting to the basket. Surprised absolutely,
because if you look, obviously it'sbeen pretty well covered now by myself

(28:52):
and others. But it took meall of just a few games to revert
back on my initial take that Ireally didn't want the Clippers to get Rondo
because I was paying attention to himin Atlanta because a lot of people had
asked me, do you think theClippers should go after Rondo? Obviously he
was a name that had been floatedaround throughout the course of the season,
so I was paying a lot ofattention to him on the Hawks, and

(29:15):
actually just liked watching the Hawks anywaysbecause they were a fun team, and
man, he looked bad in Atlanta. But like you mentioned, and like
others have mentioned, and I'll giveyou credit for being on the right side
of history as it pertains to this. He has shown throughout the course of
his career that he still has thatability to flip a switch, and that
was the one thing that I justwasn't buying. But I've seen it now.

(29:37):
There is no doubt that that mancan flip a switch when he wants
to. And the real indicator forme was that Sun's game against CP when
you could tell he wanted it,and it was that burst that you're talking
about. Forget the three point shooting. If he hits shots, great,
If he doesn't, it's more sogravy for me, But for the personal,
my personal biggest thing with Rondo thathe's shown is his ability to get

(30:02):
to the basket, collapse glass thedefense, and kick out to not only
open shooters, but very good threepoint shooters. So to answer your question,
if I've been surprised, yes,but I have been pleasantly surprised because
he really has shown the ability toflip a switch and it's really been on
a nightly basis. I can't reallythink of a game where it's been like,
all right, well, I waskind of a bad Rondo game,
and he's been there every night. So I've been extremely pleased Hey, you

(30:25):
were not alone. There were manyRondo detractors and I didn't see this level
of production coming myself, just becauseYeah, I was following him in Atlanta
a little bit. I thought theymight go after him this past offseason.
They didn't. I think I thinkthat could be a blessing in disguise because
Paul George and Kawhi Leonard Moore hasbeen on their plate and they become better
facilitators overall because of it. ButI know you liked DeMarcus Cousins coming to

(30:48):
the Clippers, and I definitely didn'tsee this level a production from him because
he looks to be moving better eachand every game, and he was a
plus eleven in a game they lostby six. What can you say about
decause and just what he's been ableto give them, especially because Surge has
been out. Boogie has been absolutelyfantastic. And that's another guy that I
also paid attention to because people hadfloated his name around as a potential third

(31:12):
string center for the Clips, andhe was another guy didn't look great in
Houston. But the reason why Iwas on board with the signing was because
I always felt that, especially withSurge out, that Boogie Cousins would be
a better backup center option than PatrickPatterson in most matchups. Pat pat has
done a good job in the opportunitiesthat he's been given, but I think

(31:33):
Boogie, just with his size, fits a little bit better with that second
unit, and he has been absolutelyfantastic. And I think it's similar to
the Rondo impact that he's made onthe Clippers. I believe that this fit
for Boogie Cousins on this Clippers teamis just something that just compliments him a
little bit better. The team cultureis something that compliments him a little bit

(31:56):
better. He feels like a guysimilar to Ronto who has gotten a little
bit of extra rejuvenation just being ona team that's really playing for something,
because he was on a Rockets teamthat was extremely discombobulated, they lost James
Harden, really had no culture, one of the worst teams record wise in
the league. So I don't thinkyou can really compare what he did there
to what he could potentially do withthe Clippers. And this is the exact

(32:20):
role that I was hoping they wouldgive him today. He had fifteen minutes,
eight points four or six from thefield. They're not going to play
him thirty five minutes. They don'tneed him to be the Boogie of old.
They just need him to be aguy who can be a positive in
short spurts, and he has beenevery bit of that. So not only
with his shot similar Toronto. Ithink any shots that he knocks down is
just gravy. But being a guywith gravity in the post is something that

(32:45):
we've seen as well. He madethe joke about getting doubled. He said,
I'm the only third string center ona ten day drawn double teams,
And he's right, And I thinkthat matters. When you have a Clippers
team with as many good shooters asthey have, having a guy like Boogie
with that much gravity in the postis never a bad thing. Yeah,
And it's it's not just based offof reputation or past seasons or before the

(33:07):
injuries. He's doing it now. He's showing off that skill level. Joey
Lynn is our guest here on ClipperStock. Last one for you. Joey
is our producers trying to get meout for the segment quickly. Who would
you like to see in that firstround matchup for the Clippers? Because my
thinking is always you want the pathof least resistance because we saw what happened
in twenty fifteen taking on the Spursin the first round. That can take

(33:28):
a lot out of you, andI do think the Lakers will be the
most dangerous team for them. Whowould you like to see them play?
Give me Portland for two reasons. One, I want Portland because of the
subplot. I think it'll be fantasticto get Damon PG going back after it
again. And also, as peopleon Clippers Twitter have mentioned, we got
to get them back from that seriesthat they stole from us, and I

(33:50):
believe twenty sixteen when Blake and Chriswent down, So that's reason number one.
But reason number two, I thinkthat we contain Dame better than anybody
in the league, and we containhim much much better than we contain Luca.
I think we do a fantastic jobon Dames just the Clippers have that
personnel between bev PG and Kawai toreally give him trouble, and he's struggled

(34:12):
against the Clippers really unlike any otherteam that he's played. So I would
say give me Portland for those tworeasons. And they don't contain anyone on
defense this year at least so far. Be careful what you wish for,
but yeah, I agree with youthere, Joey definitely. Because Damian Lillard
has been in clamp City Alcatraz sincethe Clippers have got their hands on the
two one three connection, he isJoey Lynn. Follow him at Joey Lynn

(34:35):
two ends with an underscore at theend, and check out his videos on
Twitter at clips Convos. Joey.Congratulations on another year, successful year Biola
University and I hope the senior idisdoesn't set in too soon here my friend.
Well, thank you so much,Adam, And as you mentioned,
I do do video breakdowns and nowthat I'm done with the semester, I
hope to get a lot more ofthose out on a more consistent basis.

(34:58):
So as always, a thank youso much for having me on. It's
been a pleasure. And if youever need a guy, you know you
know where to find me. Ohmy guy, Joey Lynn. More deep
dives coming year away. This guywas doing it while taking on eighteen units
something like that. I don't knowwhat the schedule was, but yeah,
I went to Biola. I knowthat Bible Institute of Los Angeles. I'm

(35:20):
not missed all right, coming upnext final segment here, we'll get back
to your phone calls. Eight sevenseven, five zero eleven. Fifty Clippers
lose by six to the New YorkKnicks at home and you're listening to the
Patriot Amile than fifty Clippers lose bysix to the Knicks, with the final
score of one oh six to onehundred in favor of New York. Welcome
back into Clippers Talk. That's ourout music or or in music to our

(35:45):
final segment, which we'll take youout. We're here till the top of
the hour. That's about a minuteand a half. Jeff and Tarzana,
you got thirty seconds, Jeff,Oh my god. We got a Knicks
fan here, and I don't trustthis guy. We don't have the dump
button ready, Okay. I seea block number, and I assume it's

(36:07):
Jeff and Tarzana because it normally is. But maybe you know what happens when
you assume he doesn't normally call ona loss. So I should have screened
that call. But I'm so usedto seeing that block number for Jeff and
Tarzana I fell for it. Nowif it was a normal Knicks fan,
I'd be okay with it, butthis is somebody who is angry, who's
been trolling me on Twitter, whowants blood, and he's not going to

(36:30):
get it here on Clippers stock atleast today. Hey, I hope the
Knicks take on the Clippers in theNBA Finals. That will be the next
time they could see them. Clippersnext game is coming up on Tuesday.
Tip time is at four thirty inTampa Bay. They're taking on the Toronto
Raptors. Love Clippers count down atthree thirty. Before we get out of

(36:52):
here, I do want to thankthe Clippers organization. Noah Eagle, Brian
Seaman, Ralph Lawler are head engineerat Staples Center, big brother Jake Warner.
Back here in the bank, itwas Zach Elcaldy with all that New
York themed music throughout the entire show. Hell of a production from Zach Today

We'll talk to you then. Thishas been Clippers to the Clippers recap of
