You know he's feeling good. Takethe show with you anywhere you are
and go Clipper Nation. Baby, get the podcast. I mean, iHeart
Radio Wire and now your host.He makes everything happen, Adam Osley.
(00:25):
Along came a Spider. Donovan Mitchellfinishes with forty five points in Game one
and the Clippers lose by three inUtah with the final score of one twelve
to one. On nine two,the Utah Jazz Welcome into Clippers Talk.
I'm Adam Oslan to eight seven sevenfive two zero eleven fifty eight seven seven
(00:45):
five two zero eleven fifty is thephone number coming up here on the show.
We'll get to your phone calls. You can also get to me at
follow Adam A far about S andShari from SI Now will be here.
He has to be. He can'tflake on me. You can't stand me
up up three times in a row. I mean twice, sure, fine,
I'll take that, but three differenttimes. And this was a road
(01:07):
game. I know far about Itis going to be here and he's gonna
bring good luck for the Clippers goinginto Game two. You'll also hear from
coach Lou coming up in the verynext segment. But I gotta be honest
with EU Clipper Nation because I don'twant to lose any more credibility than I
already have. But I thought thiswas a big time missed opportunity to steal
(01:32):
Game one when you consider these factors. No Mike Conley Junior for the Ustah
Jazz in this game. We don'tknow what his status will be for Game
two on Thursday, but he wasout with that hamstring injury. He's been
an absolute Clippers killer throughout his entirecareer, going back to the Grizzlies days,
and the Utah Jazz started off fivefor twenty from the field in the
(01:56):
first quarter. All five makes forthem were from three, so they start
off five of twenty from distance, and at one point, so five of
twenty from distance, not just fiveof twenty from the field. They were
worse than that obviously from the field, but all five of their mate johns
(02:16):
in the first quarter were three pointers, but they attempted twenty of them.
They were on pace for eighty threestonight they got to fifty, which is
still seven above what they averaged duringthe regular season, where they attempted forty
three threes per game. But theywere ice cold. We saw rest versus
(02:40):
rust, and they were as rustyas the tin Man. They were brutal.
They missed twenty straight shots at onepoint in the first quarter of the
Utah Jazz, and yet the Clipperswere only up twenty five to eighteen after
twelve minutes. I feel like youcould say the game was lost. They
(03:00):
didn't take advantage of just how ineptthe Utah Jazz was offensively missing everything,
and they had some open threes, and when they got him in the second
half, they wouldn't miss many ofthem. You knew that was going to
happen. I felt like the Clippersgot a gift in that first half.
They were up by thirteen after twentyfour minutes. Nicholas Batoum, after some
(03:23):
bad turnovers to end the second quarter, hit a big three pointer to put
them up thirteen at the half. But the Clippers came out flat and they
looked tired and fatigued. Kawhi Leonardand Paul George both looked like they were
dragging around some heavy legs out there. Their dogs were tired. You could
(03:43):
really see it with Kawhi Leonard, same with Paul George. They settled for
more jumpers and three point shots. They weren't attacking as much. And I
wrote, I know Rudy Gobert isis patrolling the paint and that makes it
even more difficult. He had threeblocks and twelve boards and thirty three minutes,
and of course one of those blockswould come on a possible game tying
(04:05):
three pointer from Marcus Morris. Thatwas not to be, as Rudy Gobert
got back on defense with some greatclose out speed at the end to block
that shot from Marcus Morris to tryto tie the game at one twelve.
But Paul George was four of seventeen. He did have twenty points, He
did eleven boards. He was onthe floor, I want to say,
(04:28):
four different times diving for loose balls. And you love that effort on an
off shooting night, and I dobelieve that's all it is. The problem
is you can't have too many ofthese in a seven game series against a
Utah Jazz team that had the bestrecord in the league this season. And
then it has Donovan Mitchell going offon the other end forty five points,
(04:49):
but he had thirty two of themin the second half eighteen and the third
quarter fourteen. In the fourth quarter, he almost outscored the Clippers by himself
in that third quarter where the Clippersonly had nineteen points. He was unbelievable
and they didn't have an answer forhim, and they were looking for the
(05:13):
mismatch. As good as Luke Kennardwas offensively had eleven of his eighteen points
in the first half. No oneelse outscored him in the first half.
Kauai was two of six, PaulGeorge started I believe one of seven or
one of eight in the first half, and they were both in foul trouble.
So to compound the fact that theyhad tired legs, they couldn't get
(05:36):
in any rhythm out there either.Kawhi looked a step late defensively, had
a couple of just uncharacteristically bad foulswhere it looked like all he could do
defensively was committed foul to not giveup an easy bucket. We're not used
to seeing that from Kawhi. Leonard, obviously, coming off the spectacular seven
(05:58):
game series he had for the Clippersto prevail against the Dallas Mavericks. But
that can take something out of you, and we knew that would be an
issue going into this game. Butmy point is the Clippers could have built
up a bigger cushion to absorb arun like we saw from the Utah Jazz
in the second half, like wesaw from Donovan Mitchell. When the Utah
(06:21):
Jazz missed, I want to sayit was twenty straight field goal attempts in
the first quarter. After they gota couple of three pointers to go,
Donovan Mitchell saw a few rattle through. They went unbelievably cold, and the
Clippers were only up seven after one. They didn't take advantage of it.
(06:42):
They had an opportunity there. Theycould have been up more in the second
quarter as well. While they didput up a thirty five spot, they
gave up twenty nine to the UtahJazz. And I thought there were some
really good minutes in there from DeMarcusCousins, even though he got into foul
trouble too. He had a stealon Rudy Gobert. You're a charge on
Rudy Gobert. Another one that wasoverturned that looked like it was a charge
(07:04):
not a blocking foul, but hita three pointer, had an and one,
provided a boost, but did havethree personal fouls. He didn't play
in the second half. Terrence Mandidn't play in the second half, just
eight minutes total. I thought helooked good out there. And then somebody
that we didn't see much last series, Patrick Beverley, who was a plus
(07:29):
six when he was out there onthe court in the first half, but
he only ended up playing six minutes, so he was a plus one per
minute out there. I thought itwas a little bit curious. I'm not
gonna question Coach Lou, and Isee all these people tweeting at me saying
ridiculous things that are an obvious kneejerk overreaction considering what we just saw with
(07:51):
adjustments in the very last series inthe last seven games, where Coach Lou
was and was the biggest catalyst forthe turnaround for the Clippers to come back
down two games to owe against theDallas Mavericks. It was the moves that
(08:11):
he made. They tightened things updefensively more and more as the series went
along. They started Readie Jackson fromGame three on Nicholas Battoun from Game four
on. It worked, but itwas interesting a little bit to me,
just you had some guys that werefresh that didn't play much in that series,
like DeMarcus Cousins who didn't play atall, like Patrick Beverly who played
(08:33):
very little after the first two games, and a guy with a lot of
juice like Terrence Mann who didn't getany run in the second half. It
was a little bit perplexing. Butthere's a method to coach Low's madness.
We've seen this before already, SoI'm expecting the Clippers to come back with
(08:54):
a lot more energy in Game twoas they adjust the altitude and just getting
their legs underneath them, because tonightit looked like as the game went along
that rust kind of came off theUtah Jazz and they got stronger and stronger
as the Clippers were getting more andmore tired and fatigued out there. They
(09:18):
lose one twelve to one O ninein Game one after they had a fourteen
point lead at one point in thefirst half. They led by thirteen at
the half, but Donovan Mitchell tookover. He had eighteen in that third
quarter. The Clippers had nineteen points, and it was an off, unbelievably
offshooting game for Paul George. Hestill had thirteen of his twenty points though
(09:41):
in the fourth quarter. Kawai hadnine of his twenty three points in the
fourth quarter, so they had twentytwo of the Clippers thirty points in the
last twelve minutes. But as goodas Luke Kennard was with his scoring,
he was being picked on defensively attimes. So it was Reggie Jackson who
(10:01):
would foul out in this game andhad a couple of tough calls go against
him, I thought, especially inthe first half. He finished with just
nine points and seventeen minutes on threeof six shooting, and really, look,
he was a fishing out there. He hit three three pointers. He
hit a couple at the end ofthe second quarter that were big, right
before Nicholas Batoum would hit that oneto end a half. So tough night
(10:24):
all round, with a lot ofdifferent guys in foul trouble, and maybe
that is part of the reason whythe Clippers offense just sputtered in the second
half. But I think fatigue playeda role coming off the seven game series
and they did not take advantage enoughat least of what the Utah Jazz were
doing in that first quarter, whichwas clanking over and over again and missing
(10:45):
so many open shots. And justlook at the three point shooting from the
first half to the second half forboth teams. The Clippers ended up shooting
eleven of twenty three from three inthe first half forty seven per cent.
They go five of nineteen from threein the second half. That's just twenty
six percent. And when you're seeingall those jumpers that are short from Kawhi
(11:09):
Leonard, you know it's the legs. When all those three pointers are coming
up short, that is typically whereit's revealed in those jump shots, and
guys being more reluctant to attack thepaint because I felt like this didn't have
the juice out there. Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz, after going seven of
twenty seven from three in the firsthalf just twenty five percent, they ended
(11:33):
up hitting ten three pointers in thesecond half. They go ten of twenty
three from distance in the last twentyfour minutes. That's forty three percent.
When this team gets hot from theoutside. Nobody attempted more three pointers than
the Utah Jaz. Nobody made morethan them during the regular season, and
they were great in that quick fivegame series against the Memphis Grizzlies two from
(11:54):
distance. In fact, they shotan even higher percentage. When they get
hot from the outside, it istough to shut the water off. They
are a really tough team to guardbecause well, they don't necessarily have the
high high end talent as some otherteams, although Donovan Mitchell's got something to
say about that they played together. The whole is greater than some of its
(12:18):
parts, and they move the ballbrilliantly, and Quinn Snyder is a great
head coach. So the Clippers arein a battle once again. Utah Jazz
of the best record in the leaguefor a reason. All right, before
we break here, let's go toMorris in Long Beach. After the Clippers
lose game one by three with thefinal score one twelve to one O nine
(12:39):
in Utah, the Jazz, Morris, what you got, my brother,
I agree with you. We movedthis one. We had, we thought
we wanted. In the first half. They were rolling. The Clippers was
rolling in the first half. Butlet may jay what we learned from this
game. We know we can playthem. We know we can play them
and our gunners, our shooters, our scorers. They're not gonna beat this
cold again. And I was reallyimpressed when they were down by ten points
(13:01):
the Clippers with three forty six togo, and yet it breaks down to
one look, one look, butwe couldn't get that look. But they'll
lets you know that they did fightdown to the end. You're right,
they had some some bad legs. But I'm gonna give the fans, the
Utah fans, I'm gonna give themthree points of the points that Utah scored
because I'll tell you right now,I could feel them fans energy on TV.
(13:24):
And if we catch them joking asa staple center, they're gonna have
to be like that, a staplecenter because in the playoffs it's an emotional,
spiritual thing. I really believe that, and I believe these fans do
some of those players. And I'mthinking this example, them fans really help
Utah. Although the Clippers, youcould have beat that, but they got
a little cold. But they're notgonna be cold the next game. And
we, like I said earlier,we show we can play them, so
(13:46):
I ain't tripping in game two. It's gonna be a dog fight. Thank
you for the phone call. Asalways, if you were on hold,
stay there, Anthony, stay there, both Jose's stay there. We'll get
to you. Plus up next, you'll hear from coach Lou After the Clippers
dropped Game one in Utah one twelveto one oh nine, Donovan Mitchell goes
(14:09):
for forty five more Clipper stock comingup next. Eight seven seven five two
zero eleven fifty eight seven seventy fivetwo zero eleven fifty. You're listen.
This is the second round of theNBA Playoffs. Hi, Leonard d.
I'm your official home of LA Clippersbasketball. Clippers fall in Game one in
(14:41):
Utah by a final score of onetwelve to one oh nine. Welcome back
into Clippers stock. I'm Adam Moslanto eight seven seven five two zero eleven
fifty eight seven seven five two zeroeleven fifty as the fall number. Much
has been made of the final possessionfor the Clippers, where Rudy Gobert blocked
Marcus Morris, he got it back, tried to put up another three.
Wasn't happening. Shot clock ran out, time ran out. Clippers lose by
(15:05):
three. But before that, Kawaiand Paul George were running a little two
man game and Kawhi it looks liketripped on boyon Bogdanovitch, and so when
Paul George got it back to him, he wasn't exactly set and ready to
shoot it. He found Marcus Morriswho was open for a moment in the
(15:28):
corner, but Rudy Gobert ran thatdown quickly and obviously has the length the
stifle tower to block a shot likethat. So tough final possession was good
to at least see the Clippers fightnear the end where they were down ten
with about two minutes left, andthey got it too within three, but
the three point shooting for them felloff a cliff in the second half.
(15:52):
They weren't nearly good enough from there, and I think part of that is
just tired legs, heavy legs. But you gotta give Utah credit. They
kind of found their sea legs inthe second half of this one, after
getting off to a horrific start inthe first quarter where they were five of
twenty from three and at one pointmiss twenty straight field goal attempts. Yet
(16:15):
they go on to win thanks toforty five from Donovan Mitchell Spider Donovan Mitchell,
who we've seen this before. Lastseason in the Bubble, the Spider
had three games of forty plus pointsin that first round series against the Denver
Nuggets. Spider Zach go Quality pullingup the old and one mixtape tour the
(16:42):
Professor Hot Sauce. Oh I missit. Those were the days. All
right, let's go to Uh whatdo we got here? Jose and long
beach? Jose? What's up?But yeah, you're right up. First
of all, I'm excited that weone game seven with the other team,
(17:02):
right Dallas. I'm excited for that. I'm still celebrating. But now,
this is a real team you taughtJazz or career, like the fans and
everybody. So but you know what, I'm happy that we lost sort of
because it shows them the Clipper Nation, the clip players. This is or
you won't get a ring or notright, and you know you're gonna get
a free ring. You had tobattle on batter and they I'm glad you
took beat them to you let themknow. Come on, y'all, wake
(17:25):
up. This is a real gamenow. So yeah, you talk,
Jazz. I'm a little nervous,but I believe they'll come back. But
it's still it's a hard game nextweek and next on Thursday, but you
should I believe they could do it. But to the coach too, the
coaches to talk to them, theycome on yes or no. You want
yo, don't want it. Jose, thank you for the phone call.
My friend become a regular here onClipper Stock. They lose game one,
(17:48):
one twelve to one oh nine.In you to the Jazz. All right,
we'll double up. Jose and southGate. You're on Clippers stop without
a marslin Awa in your words forgedby Fire, where the team coming out
one day's rest still had a thirteenpoint lead. Hey, we may have
(18:10):
lost the battle, but we arenot losing the war. Bringing Mike Conley
back game there's only one basketball man. Yeah, tie your legs. That's
why Kawai passed the bat Morris andnot Paul. Jordan's into the game.
And the words of Morris from LongBeach, I ain't tripping, and the
words of Jose from Southgate you alreadyknow, Adam. Thank you for the
(18:34):
phone call. Jose and Southgate.Well, one of the reasons I don't
think he went back to Paul Georgewas not just because he was having such
an off night because he did justhit a three pointer. But if you're
watching the play there at the end, Kawhi has it and I'm going to
supprter film with it now. Hewas actually calling for the ball back from
Marcus Morris with about three seconds left. It would have been tough to get
(18:57):
it back and get a shot out. But also PG. Thirteen was about
twenty eight feet out and Paul Georgeor excuse me, Kawhi Leonard, there
was a hard double team on him, but Paul George was looking for the
basketball. So you know they didn'texecute well obviously there at the end.
But I didn't hate the fact thathe was trying to get it to Marcus
(19:19):
Morris in the corner and Rudy Gobertwas about ten feet away from him.
You just couldn't get it up intime. Sometimes you just tip your cap.
Rudy Gobert looks to be the defensiveplayer of the Year again. Anthony
in North Hollywood, Anthony, what'sup here? On Clippers style without Inimason?
Hey, what's up man? Acouple of observations. Terrible last night.
(19:41):
You got the first of all, they got the break of no Conley
out, which is huge because he'sa quarterback of that offense. That last
play, I don't know why Morrisdidn't just take the shot jump into Gobert.
He was coming at him full freight. If he would have just went
up, he would have been stoutand he would have three free throws instead,
he didn't. He just checked upa bat shots. You got to
(20:03):
know the situation. In that scenario, you're not gonna be able to make
that shot. You know, lookthe great ones, Kobe and Lebond,
everybody, et cetera, Lucay'll they'lllet the guy defender bump into him and
get to take the three free throws. So you got to know that situation.
Anthony, Anthony, I'm watching itright now. Rudy Gobert didn't have
to get that close to him toblock that shot. I don't think he
(20:25):
would have been able to draw thefoul he does pump fake on him.
I'm watching it right now. Rudydidn't fall for it because he's so long.
He can still be three feet backfrom him where his feet are and
block the shot. Okay, I'veseen many times. Whether shooters be able
to make that cardon is a masterat that. But nonetheless, Paul George,
you gotta get this stuff together. This is a step a up class.
(20:48):
This is not the Mavericks, Utahis the Elague class of the West.
So you can't afford to drop anygame. I think this is gonna
hurt the Clippers if they end uplosing this series. And finally, just
some mind boggling decisions by lou norotation, Uh no, man, no,
no. Beverly in the second half. He's probably the only guy that
can somewhat contain and contain Mitchell, what are your thoughts behind the way they're
(21:11):
Garden because you're gonna have to defendthis guy like you did Luca, because
he can drop forty on you onany given day. So do you think
they're gonna have unique Canard's offense ifhe's hitting it? But there's no way
if he's gonna feast on Conard again. So how do you think they're gonna
defend on the rest of the series. Beverly's probably their only hook because Reggie
Jackie can't do it in rondo obviouslynot. So do you think that's probably
gonna be the scenare? How it'sgonna play up the rest of the series,
(21:33):
Anthony, I appreciate the phone call. I think they're gonna throw more
blitzes at him. I think they'regonna double him and try to get the
ball out of his hands. Becausethe good thing is when you go to
double Luca don Chich, he's sucha wizard. His basketball IQ and his
passing ability, it's just so unbelievable. It's innate. It's you can't teach
some of the stuff he does.He just has a feel for the game
(21:56):
that is really otherworldly and like somethingwe haven't seen in a long time.
But Donovan Mitchell isn't that same levelof passer, so they do have an
advantage there if they try to doublehim, trap him, get the ball
out of his hands, that he'snot gonna always find the open man like
Luca Donts was able to do.That's my guess. I would assume Patrick
(22:21):
Beverly will also play more because thisis somebody that Donovan Mitchell has praised in
the past for how good He's defendedhim, giving Patrick Beverly credit and saying
he needs to be better against him. So obviously Donovan Mitchell knows that Pat
bev is an elite defender, andhe should be well rested after not playing
(22:42):
much in the last series. Soall right, let's hear from coach Lou
before we take a break. Here, let's hear from coach Lou. Let's
all take a deep breath and astep back. Clippers lose one swelve to
one oh nine in Utah in Gameone. Here was Coach t Lou post
game into the decision to play Rondodown the stretch after Reggie fouled out as
(23:03):
opposed to maybe like a team manor a pet because that's what the Black
team, That's what I felt wasright for our team. I'm just curiosued
what maybe you may have saw outthere that you thought would fit that line
about there. I just pacing thefirst half getting open shots. We had
to push, push the temple andhaving a point guard on the floor because
we RESTU off the floor. Weneed a point We needed to point guard
(23:26):
on the floor. So that's whatwe did. Thanks to Yeah, it's
going to Matthew Cole. What madeit so difficult in the third quarter and
in the fourth to score? Whatwas the jett What were the Jazz doing
on defense that made it difficult foryou? Guys to get into the stuff
you wanted to get to. Igotta take a look at it. But
I thought the physicality in the secondhalf picked up, you know, picking
(23:48):
up full court, getting into us, being physical, and we didn't match
that physicality on the offensive end,you know, taking a ball to bounds,
I'm on the sideline or baseline ofbounds. They get, they get
into us, and you know,we had a couple of turnovers that led
to easy baskets for those guys.So we got to own our space,
you know, coming back games gametwo, own our space and be a
(24:08):
more physical one offensive end. Alex, you can go ahead, hikay high
coach, Appreciate, Appreciate you guys. You know, you know, it
seems like it seems like tonight itwas kind of like a picture poison.
It was either Donovan Mitchell or youknow, threes from from the outside.
And I wondered, just kind ofdefensively, what kind of what kind of
(24:30):
matchups or what kind of adjustments canyou make to just kind of seeing how
they were kind of able to especiallyin the second half, kind of hate
you guys with with a lot ofeverything. Well, when Boston film and
we'll see. You know, DolvinMitchell had it going tonight so late in
the game, trying to blitz andtry to do a little fire but you
know, he had it going,So hats off to him for having a
(24:51):
good game. But we'll look atthis family and what makes some adjustments.
Justustin RUSSI even good, Hey,coach. I was kind of wondering was
fatigue a factor at all with someof the guys minutes being down, like
nix minutes being in the low twentiesor anything. Yeah, I think so.
But you know, like I said, we wanted to play ten guys
in the first half just kind ofsee where we're at, trying to get
our legs up under us. Wedidn't want to wear guys out, you
(25:12):
know, early on in the game, and I thought our business guys came
in and did a great job.And then in the second half just let
me look like we have a lotleft in the tank. But we made
some mental mental mistakes as well.So we just got to clean those things
up and we'll be ready to goup a game too. Bill Ploshki,
Yeah, any thought to call ina time out before that last possession?
No? You you you didn't wantyou to defense to get sent Yeah,
(25:37):
I didn't want to take Gobert outthe game and having switchable guys in or
have time and you know, talkabout as a team and if they want
to foul or not, and Ijust stopt getting to stop, you know,
getting down on the break with Goberton the floor, was it was
gonna be able to generate an openthree, but he did a good job
of closing out to the corner.I gotta watch it, but that's the
best time I try to get itthree, especially when a team doesn't know
what they're gonna foul or what they'regonna do, you know, coming down
(26:00):
and transition. Thank you, NickHamilton. You can go ahead, Hey,
coach, you guys can pretty muchstay the course. But are there
a couple of things that you cantake positively from this game that you can
enhance for the game two and tryingto get the W. I think just
our guys coming out the bench onthe way they played, get a chance
to see who can play in thisseries and who can't. From game one
(26:22):
and I thought we did a goodjob in the first half. Came out
of the third quarter a little sluggish, you know, not making anybody play.
I'm not making any shots and theykind of got going offensively, so
just cleaning that up and it willbe better, Like I said, winning
the game too. There was Coachlou post game after the Clippers drop game
one one twelve to one oh ninein Utah. A couple of interesting things
(26:45):
there. Bill Plashki, as alwaysloves to task the toughest question there about
whether or not he thought about takinga time out, but the rational and
the logic holds up. He didn'twant them to take Rudy Gobert off the
floor because that could have been anadvantage for the Clippers. Where did we
talk about before this series started pregame that getting Rudy Gobert on the outside
(27:08):
is a mismatch that you want totake advantage of. Having him having to
guard three point shooters is something inthe Clippers favor in this series, him
on the perimeter can be barbecued chickenat times. Unfortunately, he made a
great play on Marcus Morris. Hestepped up and it looked like it was
going to be an open three, and he closed out really well there at
(27:30):
the end. So I don't hatethat move at all. You get a
team scrambling defensively often when you don'tlet them set their defense by calling a
time out, especially like he said, when you're trying to get a three
pointer. As for why ra GenRondo was in there late over Terrence man
or Patrick Beverley, Coach lu talkedabout the pace He's like, the pace
(27:52):
that he brings to the game, and it has been his strength. Really,
he just changed. He has reallyprovided an element that the Clippers didn't
have offensively before they brought it inJen Rondo. Unfortunately, he has struggled
the last four games now in theplayoffs. I thought he was really good
in the first four games against Dallas, struggled in the last three and struggled
(28:17):
overall tonight at times. But yougot a trust in coach Lou after what
we just saw in that seven gameseries. I mean, come on,
how quickly we forget he made allthe right moves. He's going to adjust
and adapt and I expect this Clippersteam to respond in a big way Thursday
night for Game two. More Clippersstack coming up. CJ. Sean,
(28:41):
We'll get to you. I'm atam Oslin and this is the Patriot Emlem
fifty. The Quest for the LarryO'Brien is off for them to get to
the Promised Land for the first timein franchise history. Your listening to LA
Clippers playoff basketball. They're exclusive.Yeah, Donovan Mitchell, he had forty
(29:11):
five points, thirty two of themcame in the second half, and the
Clippers will lose by three in Gameone to the Utah Jazz with the final
score one twelve to one on nine. At least Spider didn't do that move
like in the An one mixtapes.Who are where he dunked it and then
like kicked his legs up over thebackboard. I don't even think the Harlem
(29:36):
Globetrotters did that. Welcome back intoClippers, Tuck, I'm at a Marsland.
We're with you for a few moreminutes here. Game two is Thursday
night. Tip time is at sevenpm. We'll have Clippers Countdown at six
pm. That game will be onthe Clippers radio network, but also on
AM five seventy LA Sports pending anyrenounce and the Dodgers having to play a
(29:57):
double header. C J in Alhambra. CJ, you're on Clipper stuff without
Amosslin. What's up, hey, mister Asslin, I am not down and
out. I am thoroughly disappointed, but I'm not down and out. Earlier
on the show, you made mentionof the jazz playing like the tin Man
(30:18):
full of rust. But we allremember the end of that movie, right,
he got his heart and that's howthey played. I think he got
like the w D forty and uhand the heart. But you know,
unfortunately we came in or should Isay, our coach who has brains,
and he walked through the tunnel tothe locker room at the end of the
(30:41):
game like a scarecrow. Come on, I mean, I don't mean to
be that tough on Tyl. Howare people gonna turn on tylu this quickly
after he orchestrated the turnaround against theDallas Mavericks with brilliant changes to the starting
lineup. I feel you on this. I feel you on this, Adam.
(31:02):
But the fact was, you hadthe bench, you had the depth
that brought us a thirteen point lead, and you don't play them a single
minute or draw plays for Kennard whohad the hot hand. And I know
the Clippers are a band of brothers, but we need to show love to
cousins too. That's pretty good.See you like that. You see what
(31:23):
I did right? But he drewup an ato out of bounds play for
Luke Kenard to hit a three pointerin the second half. He most definitely
put out a play for him.I understand the frustration he played. But
listen, all I'm saying is that, you know, seeing as health fatigue,
our starters were, he should havejust kept the hot hand and the
(31:47):
action and the energy rolling. Andyou know, just unfortunately, I mean,
look, Tyler's taken some gambles andhe's in the position where he can
you know it's going to pay offbig. Just tonight it didn't play out.
And like I said from the beginningof the call, I'm not downing
out. Tyler is a man ofadjustments. He's a mad scientist. You
(32:09):
know. When I have faith inthis team, man, I have faith
in lou However, I gotta beforeI get off this call, you guys
having a drop Snoop Dog saying theClippers you need to kill all that noise
no Snoop Dog on the Clipper onthe flagship station for Clippers CJ. I
(32:30):
appreciate the phone call. I'm gonnastop Bob Smith for making those great promos
Sean and Inglewood. Sean close thingsout tonight here on Clipper Stop with some
positivity maybe, yeah, definitely positive. I thought about four to one as
far as positives or concerned to negatives, and I'm very enthusiastic. I think
(32:51):
they're gonna win the series, likeI said before, And you know,
the shooting was good for the mostpart in the first half. The other
caller he could we could have usedsome tarns Man in the second half,
especially when you have a drop inenergy. Other than that, it's just
one game and to be honest withyou, that's shooting and Paul George had
(33:13):
to come down to just one lastshot. We could have tied it.
So that's a positive. I thinkthat the Clippers are gonna win the series.
And that's all I'm gonna have tosay. Zuba, we still have
used some more zoo back in thegame too, and that's about it.
Could he use a little more cowboll, a little more zoobots. He played
well, eleven points and six boards. I'm guessing he will get more run
played twenty minutes though. The onearea of concern tonight, while they only
(33:39):
had nine turnovers, they had somelive ball turnovers that were really bad,
especially in the first half. Theend of the second quarter, Clippers got
some things to clean up. Thosenine turnovers turned into seventeen points for the
Utah Jazz. All Right, beforewe get out of here, I do
want to think the Clippers organization.Noah Ego, Brian Seeman, Ralph Lawler
(34:00):
back here in Birdbrate, Kevin Figgers, and Zach l Cale d emphasis until
Tuesday night for Game two, withthe pregame show starting at six pm Thursday
night. I'm at AMSL. We'lltalk to you about the
