Got your fall. It's time toreact to La Clippers Basketball. This is
Clippers Talk all the chat, reactionand analysis hosted by Adam Ousley. You
know he's feeling good. Take theshow with you anywhere you are and the
Clipper Nation. Baby, get thepodcast. I'm the iHeart Radio are and
now your host. He makes everythinghappen, Adam Mousley. Clippers flip the

(00:28):
switch, Flip flip. They holdDetroit to twenty five points on the fourth
quarter and they win one thirty oneto one twenty four over the Pistons.
Welcome into Clippers Talk. I'm ataam Mosland eight six six nine eight seven
two five seventy eight six six nineeight seven two five seventy eight. Nobody
else is doing this coming up hereon the show. La Murray from The

(00:50):
Athletic wrote a great article early todaytalking about the Clippers entering the fourth quarter
of the season. Now there wereeighteen games left coming into tonight. Now
just seventeen games left. We'll alsohave t low Audio four your post game
and you'll hear from the players. After Marcus Morris, who had thirty three

(01:10):
points that is his season high.He happened to be my player to watch.
I've been hot lately, my goodness. But Paul George thirty two points
an emphatic dunk late that reminded meof the twenty thirteen dunk he had on
Chris Birdman Anderson in that Eastern Conferencefinal series against the Miami Heat that went

(01:30):
seven games. It was vicious. It looked like he was trying to put
Stewart through the rim of the DetroitPistons. And there have been a lot
of great dunks this week. It'sjust been crazy. Miles Bridges just had
a huge throw down on Clint Capella, and then obviously Kawhi Leonard on DeAndre
Aiden. Moe Harkless had one forthe Sacramento King. Something is in the

(01:52):
air. It's like a bunch ofguys who are having their own dunk contest
in game right now. I'm competingwith one another from other sides of the
coast at times. But the Clippers, let's be frank, they did not
play well defensively in this game overall. In fact, they had given up
in that first half over sixty pointsto a Detroit Pistons team that did not

(02:14):
have Jeremy Grant, that struggles toscore the basketball. That isn't a good
three point shooting team, and somehowit was sixty three to sixty two headed
into the half. The Clippers onlyhad a lead by one. They were
down five after the first quarter, where Detroit had seven three pointers that they
were able to make. It wasone of my keys to the ball game.

(02:36):
Don't let them get hot. Theyshoot thirty five percent from three.
Keep them there or under there andyou'll be in good shape versus Detroit.
But it felt like the Clippers werejust out there trying to outscore them and
it wasn't working. Midway through thethird quarter, the Clippers were still shooting
over seventy percent from the field andthey were down ten. It was unbelievable.

(03:00):
I posted the old spaceballs combing thedesert gift and I said, we're
looking for Clippers defense right now,and somebody did respond with we ain't found
yeah. But they eventually found it, and it happened the last two minutes
really of that third quarter, andthere was a Nicholas Batoum block, an
emphatic block, a tone setting block. He had two more in the fourth

(03:24):
quarter, three for the ball game. But in the last two minutes of
the third they only gave up twopoints. They gave up thirty five points
in the first ten minutes of thatquarter, so Detroit had a thirty seventh
spot in the third. As goodas Marcus Morris was, he had fourteen

(03:44):
of his thirty three points season highscoring was in the third quarter. PG
thirteen had eight more points after hehad eighteen in the first half. As
good as those two guys were, the Clippers were still down six entering the
fourth quarter, but there was alittle bit of carry over, I thought,
from the end of the third raGen Rondo made a play with just
four seconds left with Detroit inbounding theball, and so at the start of

(04:05):
the fourth quarter, hall of asudden, Reggie Jackson has a spectacular block.
They get in transition, Terrence Mannhits a corner three pointer. Action
Jackson got that one started, andthen I believe, I want to say
he had a layup early in thefourth quarter as well. So it was

(04:26):
doing a little bit on both ends. But Nicholas Batoum continued to play really
good defense and the rest of theClippers started to follow him a little bit.
Plus Big Daddy Nick Batoum Saint Nickhit three three pointers in the fourth
the Clippers hit six as a team, not in the span of six minutes

(04:47):
like they did Friday night against theHouston Rockets in the last six minutes of
that game they would hit six threesand put it away, but in a
similar fashion, more spread out throughoutthe entire fourth quarter, they got really
high from distance. They hit sixthree pointers as a team. As I
mentioned, Nicholas Batoum had three ofthem. I want to say it was
also Genrondo, Terrence Man, andMarcus Morris who hit a ridiculous three falling

(05:13):
away in the corner at the endof the shot clock with two guys on
him. It was the only buckethe hit in the fourth quarter, and
it was a critical three pointer. But he ended up going thirteen of eighteen,
six of eight from three. Theefficiency was just off the charts.
But that's why it was so damningdefensively to see that the Clippers could be

(05:34):
down ten, down twelve, whenthey're shooting seventy percent from the field.
They end up shooting sixty three percentfrom the field and go fifteen of twenty
six. That's almost sixty percent fromthree. And they started to play a
little bit more defense in that fourthquarter, and it was enough. They
flipped the switch. They turned iton and they were able to overcome seventeen

(05:58):
turnovers leading to twenty eight points. But sometimes it's the timing of those turnovers.
They weren't great in that area Fridaynight either, or they didn't have
one turnover though in the fourth quarterwhen they pulled away against the Rockets tonight,
after having nine in the first halffive more in the third quarter,
they had just three turnovers in thefourth. So they progressively got a little

(06:19):
less careless with the basketball as thegame went along, and they had a
season high thirty five assists on theirfifty made shots. They've been so good
moving the basketball all season long, but that is a real good number.
That means they assisted on seventy percentof their makes tonight. I just did

(06:40):
the math on my android calculator.Clippers end up making it five straight.
They're thirteen and four post All StarBreak, and they would end up going
seven and two during this nine gamehomestand over a seventeen day period. I'd
say that's a pretty successful run.You wanted to see them play better defensively
in this one, and they werestill missing obviously Kawhi Leonard, no Patrick

(07:05):
Beverley, no serge of Bacca. There's still down a few guys. I
thought Rajan Rondo played really well offthe bench. He was a plus twenty
two, had six assists, hada nice transition bucket in the fourth quarter
where he just took advantage of theDetroit Pistons falling asleep defensively and not thinking

(07:26):
he was gonna end up taking itcoast to coast, but also hit a
corner three where they left him wideopen. He was about to make a
pass and he said, you knowwhat, if they're gonna give it to
me, I'm gonna take it andmake it. He ends up going two
of five from three. I'm tellingyou that career number everybody talked about of
him shooting thirty one percent from three, it's meaningless. Look at what he
has done the last six years.Who cares what he shot fifteen years ago

(07:49):
in Boston when he wasn't a shooterat all. He's been shooting thirty six
percent from three and which is aboutleague average his last six seasons on different
teams, and then the playoffs itgets even better. But he made some
clutch plays down the stretch of thisone, as you would expect, So
the line's still open for the Rondoapology line here at eight six six nine,

(08:13):
eight seven two five seventy. Clippersend up winning by seven over the
Detroit Pistons. Before we break here, let's go to Jose and Southgate.
Jose, what's up here on Clipperstock with Adam Aslin Adam Adam, Adam
Auslin Adam the pre game and that'sthe game with the mother of the year.
Whoa you know? Yeah, see, I stop myself, Adam.

(08:37):
I stopped myself at him. Iwas about to flip the switch on you
and drop this call. Yeah yeah, I know, Adam, I know,
but look I went on the campand let me know where the raid.
You're gonna hear myself. I wenton. I went on the road
trip. Eight hours after go camping. I don't see the Rockets game.
I called you, after who dowe beat? We beat somebody before the
Rockets. I know that, andthen I hear my I said that.

(08:58):
The next day, I put onmy quiet in their jersey, laying everybody
know we Clippers had up on thiscamp site. You know the Clippers win,
he said, yeah, the usualWe were down, but we won.
Okay, eight hours back. Nextthing, you know, we're playing
another game all right here that we'regoing small but two makes a block.
Oh man, we're playing small ball. We're winning games. Adam, I

(09:22):
have a lot of places to goright now, but you know what I'm
trying to go. We're going tothe championship. Baby. Last day,
there's Jose and south Gate calling inafter each and every Clippers win or loss.
They win tonight, they've won fivestraight. That's the longest current winning
streak in the NBA right now,by the way, they're playing their best

(09:45):
basketball the season, and there's justseventeen games left. They're peaking. This
is and they're doing so with differentlineups, with guys in and out of
the lineup. Currently, they won'thave Patrick Beverley for at least likely the
rest of a April. They haven'thad Sergeibaka the last month. It hasn't
mattered because overall, not counting forthree quarters tonight, they have committed to

(10:09):
playing much better defense overall. Iknow the first three quarters were tough,
but when they needed to play winningbasketball, and Noah Eagle touched upon this
post game, this is something we'veseen from championship teams in the past when
you have to find a way towin a game against a lesser team during
a long seventy two game season. This year, it happens in those last

(10:31):
twelve minutes. They flipped the switch. They were good enough. Then they
played great offensively in that fourth quarter, two with putting up a thirty seven
spot themselves after giving up thirty sevenpoints in that third quarter. Before we
break here, we'll take a quickid. You're listening to a five seventy

night between me and him. Notreally, but let's build a suspense.
Tagus has also calling in eight sixsix nine, eight seven two five seventy

in that movie From Distance. Theygo fifteen or twenty six. That's almost
sixty percent. Whoo. This team'sgetting better as the season's going along.
From three, nobody thought they coulddo this. Still at this point they're
doing it all right. More Clippersstock next right here on five seventy l

Noah Eagle with the call Zachelcaldy witha remix. Clippers make it five straight.
They win one thirty one to one, twenty four and PG thirteen.
Paul George had his best dunk ofthe season. He doesn't often throw down,

(12:31):
but when he does, it's spectacular. The most interesting six nine players
that has ranged from deep and handleslike Steph Curry. I like to call
him the six nine Steph Curry fora reason. He also had I was
wondering where Bill Lambier was. Hehad a Michael Jordan's esque. Okay,
it wasn't to that level, it'snot in the playoffs, but just a

(12:52):
flip lay up, no look, lay up behind his head. In the
third quarter. He had another acrobaticlay up in the third. He ends
up with thirty two points. It'shis third straight game where he's gone for
thirty or more and he didn't evenneed the three point shot. Really,
he only hit one of them, went one of five from distance, but
twelve or twenty five overall led themin the assist category with nine to just

(13:16):
two turnovers. Clippers win one thirtyone twenty four over the Detroit Pistons.
They'll see them again soon, andlet's go to Joe and North Hills.
Joe, what's up here on Clippersstop without him off? Well, no,
let me start by saying, Ilove how tylu is managing minutes,

(13:39):
managing the role players minutes, letthem get enough time to get really warmed
the game, to come back into established rhythm. I wondered why coaches
haven't done that for a long time. But I need a little Boogie,
I mean I was. I washappy we picked up Boogie Cousins. I

(14:00):
think he has a role for usin the playoffs. I'd like to see
him get three to five minutes agame for him to get his game back
in because I think he's gonna beI think he could be really important against
Denver against Yokich, to give himthe ball on the low post, have

(14:20):
him go against Yokitch three, fouror five times and get him into foul
trouble Joe. It's an interesting callbecause he's still on a ten day contract.
We don't know how long he'll bewith this team. He doesn't get
any run tonight. I think coachLewis was tinkering try trying some small ball

(14:41):
type of lineups with Nicholas Batoum outthere and Marcus Morris both playing the five
at times tonight. But I likewhat I've seen so far with Boogie Cousins,
just from a standpoint of how wellhe's been moving. Even though he
struggled. He had three tornovers inforty five seconds last game, he did
hit a three pointer, and Ithought he looked really good in his first

(15:01):
game and just showed how he's ableto use that big body to create space
on the post, either on offenseor to box out guys and get offensive
rebounds. His first bucket was aput back offensive rebound for the Clippers,
but this was the third game hewas available, but he ended up with
a DNP tagus in Walnut tagus. What's up here on Clippers stock without hm

(15:24):
Auslin, Hey, Adam, Iwas gonna give you a little Terrence Man
take that I had, I thinka couple of years ago when we traded
Shay Uh. I think Clipper fanswere excited that we you know, we
got obviously, we were excited thatwe got PG and Kauai. I think
the sad part was was that wehad a kind of like a jam,

(15:48):
a young jem that we thought wecould build a foundation for their future.
And I think the emergence of TerrenceMan is kind of softened that that blow
because I think he has that samepotential that we saw and Shay and right
now, like the way that TerrenceMan's playing, you could almost say it's
kind of like his rookie year becausehe didn't get a lot of reps that

(16:11):
a lot of these young rookies getwhen they first start. You know,
a lot of them are on badteams and they're putting up like big numbers,
like like Daron Fox right, youngobviously they're superstars are I mean,
are close to that. But ifTerence Man was on one of those teams,
I'm sure he would have been puttingup big numbers as well. The

(16:32):
fact that he's doing it on achampionship team and he's staying in within the
team's you know plays, and he'sstaying within their concept. It shows a
lot of maturity at a young age. And I think that you know,
sky is a limit and we gota great foundation piece for the future and
Terrence Man and hopefully just like wethought Landry Schmidt would be the sidekick of

(16:56):
Shay Luke, Kenard can be alsobe that psychic for Terrence Man. Thank
you for the phone call to Ages. I do think that has less than
the blow. Also by the factthat they traded SGA to bring in not
just Paul George, but to getPaul George to lure in Kawhi Leonard,

(17:18):
who rested tonight deservedly so with howmuch he's been playing recently with all these
guys in and out of the lineup, he's been so steady for them.
He's having a career year as isPG. Thirteen. It's kind of what
you like to see from your twosuperstars, two way superstars, by the
way, but Terrence Man, he'shaving a breakout year now. Just over

(17:38):
the last couple of months, he'sbeen so special. And the fact that
he only played thirty five minutes overa three game stretch when Rondo was available,
and then Patrick Beverley was back, and then as soon as he was
needed again, he goes seven foreight on Friday Night against the Houston Rockets

(18:00):
from the field, and it's justmaking plays as he always does. And
that's a special trait and it's apart of this Clippers DNA this season.
It's not just Patrick Patterson being stayready and just add water. Now,
it's been Terrence Man two. It'sbeen Reggie Jackson all season long. Luke
Kennard played well tonight, got thestart again, had eleven points, was

(18:22):
more aggressive than he was Friday night, was five of six from the field.
He had a couple of those stepback jumpers in the first half.
So this is a team that hasI think the right formula for the playoffs
because you just want to be ableto insert a guy on a whim at
times somebody gets in foul trouble, you need him and Luke Kennard had three,

(18:45):
Marcus Morris at four in this one. But you never know when your
number is going to be called, and you just have to step right back
into that role, no matter howmany games maybe you've missed, or how
a few minutes you've been playing. You just have to find a way to
contribute. Because it's the playoffs andsome of these guys that aren't as scouted

(19:07):
when you have to be aware ofthe two one three connection. If you're
looking at this from the opposition's perspective, well they have an opportunity to do
damage. As Shack always likes tosay, even though he is kind of
a casual, as Christian Wood calledhim, he's right about this and he
lived it, you know. Heand Kobe got theirs. But it was

(19:27):
the others. It was d Fish, it was Robert Horry, it was
Rick Fox at times stepping up incrucial moment moments. It was ty Lou
you're head coach of the Clippers. Now, some of the role players making
a name for themselves in the playoffs, becoming fan favorites and legends for their

(19:47):
team and having those performances that standout forever. And I think the Clippers
have players who are going to havethose opportunities. And Reggie Jackson was great
again in this game. We playedthose highlights, so that big block he
had in the fourth quarter. Sometimesthose effort plays can be contagious. And
I thought Nicholas batoum having a block, and then Reggie Jackson had one,

(20:10):
and then a beast of Zubots hadone. It seemed to us spread throughout
the team that, oh yeah,we gotta figure out to figure out a
way to win this one and endthis homestand on a good note. Where
they're seven and two in their lastnine games, all nine at Staples Center.
They're going out on the road nextcoming back here. We'll take a

(20:30):
quick break. We do have coachLoop postgame audio CJ. Jeff hold On.
We'll get to you. One morewin five straight Clippers win one thirty
one, one twenty four over theDetroit Pistons. More Clippers stock coming up
next right here on the M fiveto seventy l A Sports What is every

(20:55):
moment all season long? On theirofficial cool why Letard sends it home but
the Clippers still not come in here? O God it stripped away from behind
by Lee who gets the lock passtown the other side clock from behind.
Oh to play by Reggie jack andhere he comes left to right. Jackson

(21:17):
erased it at the rim. Hekicks it up to the foreside corner man
for the tie. Oh yeah, the terret's man cash money from downtown and
the Clippers and flight it at oneon one. Clippers were down by as
many as twelve to the Detroit Pistons. But sometimes you've got to find a
way to win a ball game whenyou don't have your best, and the

(21:38):
Clippers certainly did not defensively through threequarters. Last two minutes of the third,
things started to turn their in theirfavor defensively through some effort plays,
but they were able to lock downDetroit enough they outscored them by twelve in
that fourth quarter. They win onethirty one to one twenty four over the

(22:00):
Pistons. Welcome back into Clippers Stock. I'm at a Moslin. Your Clippers
are now thirty seven and eighteen onthe season. They're thirteen and four since
the All Star break. They're playinggreat even with injuries. They're just finding
ways, and tonight was one ofthose games. Sometimes the first game back
from a road trip or the lastgame, as you got one foot out

(22:22):
the door when you know you're goingout on the road, those can be
dangerous games, and Detroit punched themin the face to start this one off.
They were really good earlier. Theyhit seven of their fifteen three pointers,
almost half of them in that firstquarter. Clippers had to absorb that
blow and they eventually had to digin defensively while still playing great offensively tonight,

(22:45):
I mean sixty two percent from thefield, almost sixty three percent,
almost sixty percent from three, aseason high thirty five assists of Echa.
Zubots goes for a career high sevenassists, also at thirteen and ten.
Let's go to CJ and Lhambra beforewe hear from Coach Loop post games.
CJ, you're on Clippers, talkthem listen. Before I get to the

(23:08):
meat and potatoes of my call,I did have a small request in bullet
point that I wanted to squeeze in. The request is actually for Sam.
I was kind of hoping he couldplay a real estate the instrumental of real
estate from Cypress Hill. Because goingSemon of nine in a homestand is worth
celebrating. We defended our real estateand we played it out well. My

(23:30):
bullet point now is I'm not exactlythe biggest fan of the French. I'm
happy with their kissing, I'm happywith their fries. But tonight, Nicholas
Patuma is the third thing that I'mthe happiest with when it comes to the
French. This guy played out ofhis mind and really just all throughout the

(23:51):
game, just really made some strong, strong plays and was really productive.
Now look the meat and potatoes ofthe call. Tonight's game was very similar
to Friday's, where sloppy d andturnovers was a horrible first and it forced
Tyler's hand to not only play Kauaimore minutes in Friday's game as well as

(24:14):
PG and Tonight's game. But itwas good to see that we tighten the
screws, We got the afterburners goingin scoring and laid this one to rest
and put it in the books. The only thing that I wasn't really happy
about with, and I'm going toreiterate what Joe from North Hill said,
was like there was no DeMarcus sightings. I mean, Friday, yeah,

(24:37):
there was a small sighting, buttonight I just would like to see a
little bit more DeMarcus and but allin all, though really happy with the
wind Man, really happy with thewin. CJ. What'd you think Arondo
tonight? I just wondering. Touche, touche. You know it. Listen,
I'm picking up a lot of whatyou're saying about Rondo and how people

(25:00):
were kind of judging him from eitherprevious three point shooting or the little usage
he was getting in Atlanta. Mybiggest concern with Rondo really is if you
go back to twenty fourteen fifteen, where he was with the Mavericks. Three
years we moved from their first championship, he totally checked out. Then a

(25:22):
few seasons removed, he went toChicago and really didn't really wasn't all that
impressive. The thing about Rondo,I will say is that he will be
engaged once he finds that the teamhas the commitment and the focus. This
is this team well, CJ.It's also the personnel and the head coach.

(25:44):
He and Rick Carlisle buttet heads. It's you have to be on your
toes with for Jon Rondo because he'sso cerebral, his basketball IQ is so
high. To get his respect,it takes a lot, I think,
but he and t Lou to louisthe Rondo whisperer for a reason. There's
multiple Kentucky guys on this team, and you have to think that the two

(26:07):
one three connection also wanted to bringhim into So he's in good hands.
He's in the perfect situation to bringout the best version of Gen Rondo and
in two of his three games he'sbeen really good so far. Well,
you know, if you add thaton top of the fact that he's got
Chauncey Billips Larry Drew also former pointguards, he's going to find that he's

(26:30):
in a comfortable position where where he'sgoing to be heard, he's going to
be directed, and so yeah, you know, I will say my knee
jerk reaction was not positive. Thisis another you know what Adam told me
so moment, just like you didwith Noah when you said Marcus Morris was

(26:51):
going to be large. I thoughtit was going to be Luke Kenard.
But you know what, hey man, this is why they pay you the
big dollars. Baby. You know, broken clock is also right twice a
day. Thank you CJ for thephone call. Let's hear speaking of that
connection between T Lou and Rajon Ronda, which goes back to the Boston days.
Let's hear from coach lou post gameafter the Clippers make it five straight

(27:11):
they win one thirty one to onetwenty four over at the Detroit Pistons.
What'd you guys, what'd you makeof this? When you guys have been
so good defensively lately, tonight itwas a little different. I mean,
you know, they gotta have atwenty one, and you know, I
thought it was a little slow tothe ball and these bifty pitty balls.
But you gotta give them credit. They rent some good stuff. They made
some tough shots. I mean,it wasn't like we were just giving them

(27:32):
shots like they earned pretty much. You know, a lot of the shots
they made they earned it, youknow, so they played well, you
know what I'm saying, a lotof these young guys, you know,
coming in and just have an opportunityto play when guys are out, and
they made the most of it.You know. So I'm just probably was
able to, you know, scorethe ball and kind of keep them,
you know, trying to keep thegame close. And I think you know,

(27:52):
Nick Latune on both ends and onboth ends and the floor, you
know, William's good boards. Youknow, Marcus of course scoring the basketball
and PG. But I thought NickPolice came in and changed the games and
the round them off a bitch.Thanks. We'll go next to law.
This was the game down twelve andthe second half, you guys wind up
winning. You get a lot ofthat comeback runs during this home Then what

(28:18):
was your favorite part of the homestandoverall? And for as far as like
not having that travel for two weeks, I think you say you can come
within your own man. I thinkyou know, being able to eat your
place and be able to relax, you know, once you get down the
game and go home and don't haveto travel, I think was huge for
us. And we was able toget some some practices in who was able

(28:40):
to get some shooting arounds that weused the past practice and you know,
just kind of work on things weneed to work on. So it was
a good homestand for us, youknow, now we got to go back
out on the road. Thanks. We'll go next to Harry. That's want
to talk about Nick. The songcan justelebrate on just the benefits of having
a veteran like Nick to come into change the game when when when the

(29:00):
younger guys I struggling like that.Don's great to happen. He's been great
for us all the year, youknow, as a starter and then and
off the bench, you know, being able to guard you know, one
through five. You know, everynight, you know, we put him
on different guys and he competes ata high level. You know, you
can make shots, he's very smartand pass the basketball. So he's been
used for us all year, andyou know, tonight everything he gave is

(29:22):
we needed every bit of it,you know, especially with a team that
was high to day were tonight nextto Justin Russo my man could hard do
my right stole my question. Soinstead I'm gonna ask you about turnovers.
You guys, through three quarters,we're just turning the ball over away too
many times. And I could tellthat you were a little bit frustrated on
the bench, and even on anoffensive night like this where you're making almost
every shot that you end up taking. How frustrating was it to watch the

(29:45):
waste of possessions as I happened.Well, you know, in the game,
you know it's gonna be non turnovers, eight or nine turnovers that you
give up because the team is justplaying good defense and then you're gonna have
you know, two or three killthe turnovers. But you know, I
usually gets frustrated when we have tokill on the turnovers. Like when you
attacking the basket and you make aplay trying to make a play for your
teammate, then that's understandable. Butthe careless turnovers, you know, we

(30:07):
can't have and we have to leaveyou at those turnovers. So that's when
you usually see me frustrated. It'swhen it's unforced or kill on the turnovers.
Next up party, they coach breathon the win. How proud are
you as a coach when there's likea moment I think in the fourth quarter
the bench kind of had a littlehuddle and rallied together to kind of get

(30:29):
those sequences of stocks. And youknow, you guys are shooting seventy percent
from the field and somehow down ten, So it's really easy to get rattled
in this game, and somehow, you know that bench unit is the one
that was the glue to bring itback together. As a coach, just
how proud of you when you seethat? Very proud you know that we
never let go of the roles. We compete all the way to the end,
and you know, they understand whatwe're playing for. And it's gonna
be tough nights. You know,it's gonna be teams you play and despite

(30:52):
their record, you know, Ican have hot nights when they play well
and play hard, you know. And Coach case has done a great job
with his team and just like Isaid, making these guys play hard,
making him executing, they do agood job of it. So there was
Coach lou post game the Clippers winone thirty one to one twenty four.
At the beginning there he talked aboutNicholas Batoum really changed in the trajectory and

(31:12):
complexion of the game. He hitthree three pointers in the fourth also had
three blocks, one at the endof the third and then two more in
the fourth quarter. I think, and Joshua Jackson Pacy takes an ell tonight.
Look, I'm glad josh Jackson isstarting to show some of that potential

(31:36):
he had coming out. And hehad twenty six points. It was great
for Detroit. He goes ten ofeighteen, two of six from downtown.
He and Paul George were going backand forth and yes, I've seen all
six seasons of Dawson's Creek. Yeah, Felicity as well. I draw the

(31:56):
line at one Tree Hill and yo, see Clippers win one thirty one to
one twenty four, a five gamewinning streak that matches the five head on
Dawson. Clippers win again. We'recoming back here. We'll have Law Murray
on. You just heard him aska question. This is a five seventy
l A sports. I'm at aOslin and you're listening to Clippers stalk what

(32:30):
is baby? Every moment all season? Low on their official why Leonard sends
it back the home of the clippBags still not come in here, cross
court pass, Rondo's in the samespot. You have to go up to
get it in baseline drive Rondo kickout. The Morris have to put up
the corner. Three Burgess Borris moneyfrom the outside of the near side one

(32:53):
twenty six to one sixteen Clippers NoahEgo on the call, Zach Lcaldy with
the mix. It's not the fantasticsam Zia in here tonight, CJ and
Zach does not take requests. Hemakes requests. Clippers win by Zeven Marcus

(33:15):
Morris had a fourteen point third quarter, goes for his season hive thirty three
points. HiT's the dagga three lategoes six of eight from distance. He
was shooting forty six percent from threecoming into this game. That could go
up. I will the Clippers overallpercentage is going to go up as well,
because as a team they go fifteenof twenty six from three. Welcome

(33:37):
back into Clippers stock. I'm ata moslin and I'm happy to be joined
now by a friend. He's atLaw Murray, the nu It's law Murray
from the athletic covers the Clippers forthem. He is the law. He's
a good friend. Except you know, I call him from a block number
and I'm like, hey, canI get you on in five? He's

(33:57):
like, yeah, you who isthis? My bad with that law,
But I appreciate you coming on postgame tonight. Was this just one of
those games where the Clippers had tofind a way to scratch and claw their
way to victory and flip that switchin the fourth quarter because obviously defensively,
this did not look like the teamthat we've seen the last couple of weeks,
which has turned into a top fivedefense. Yeah, I don't even

(34:22):
know how good I feel about sayingscratch and claw like that would suggest that
this was a rock fight of agame. Really, it was who wants
to play defense first kind of game. You know, the water was flowing
tonight at the Saples Center, andI honestly thought that the Pistons were doing
such a great job making shots oncethey got that lead, though late in

(34:44):
the third quarter, it was reallyjust a matter of do the Clippers have
it at all? Because I knewthat eventually the Pistons are going to start
missing shots. They played in Portlandlast night. Anyone who ever traveled from
Portland, Oregon down to souther inCalifornia. That's a draining flight, an
underrated tough light. And sure enough, eventually the Pistons started missing shots.

(35:08):
And you gotta get the Clippers creditfor keeping it close, not throwing in
the towel, and guys on bothteams are making incredible shots all night.
It was. It was a phenomenalperformance where a gain that a lot of
y'all probably went to sleep on.No Kawhi Leonard in this one. No
Patrick Beverley, no Surgeon Baca, but Jen Rondo was available, and I'm

(35:30):
wondering if you were one of themany on the right side of history with
Jen rondou here because in two outof his three games right now, he's
been a really impactful player out thereon the court, especially in big moments.
Have you liked what you've seen sofar from Rondo? Is this exactly
what you expected with him in aClippers uniform. I'm not on the front

(35:52):
man. This is I did notexpect Rajon to have the kind of impact
that makes you go old. Notlike the last fourth quarters tonight against the
Pistons. He didn't play against theRockets Friday night, but the game he
did play in the fourth quarter, that Suns game, he was the best

(36:13):
player in the fourth quarter. Andyou see a two way impact. You
see when Rondo decides that he's goingto make threes, something he's done a
very decent job of over the lastcouple of years, including this year.
It's one of a few things hedid well with the Hawks. Actually that
can flip the game because Ronda doesn'thave to shoot. He is going to

(36:34):
push the pace. He's going tofind the right guy. If you are
kind of lazy at the rim,he will finish at the rim. He
has a variety of finishes, andthen he's so smart that not only can
he make certain plays offensively, buthe'll get his team in a position to
make plays offensively. Rondo, Ifeel like he plays a certain way in
the third, first three quarters sothat he understands what he needs to do

(36:59):
in the fourth quarter. It's goingto be the same principal next month when
the playoffs start, you know.I think he takes a certain approach to
the regular season, and then inthe playoffs he's going to make sure everyone
himself, his teammates, even thecoaching staff is ready to execute. So
tonight was an example of high levelimpact from Jon Rondo't for sure he is
Law Murray. He covers the Clippersfor the athletic He's at Law Murray.

(37:22):
The NU on Twitter, La PaulGeorge. I'm not gonna front on this.
I was very concerned about that rightfoot. But his last three games
now he's looked like the Paul Georgefrom the first half of the season.
While he only made one three andonly attempted five, he still had thirty
two points. He struggled with themidi at times on the fourth quarter,

(37:44):
but he had the huge throwdown andthat's one of the best signs you can
take away from a game like this, just seeing Paul George being able to
get up like that with that righttoe injury. What have you seen from
PG thirteen the last three games? That also makes you encourage moving forward as
he plays through this. I thinkjust the way you put it at him

(38:06):
after that Denver game when he wasmissing fast break layups, when he couldn't
finish late in the fourth quarter,it was like, well, this is
going to be at a sustained issuegoing into the postseason, and that is
a damn shame. Except he changednarrative this week. I mean he put
it on in the three games thathe played against the Suns, tonight against

(38:28):
the Pistons, and earlier in theweek going up against the Trailblazers. I
mean, he this is the firsttime as a Clipper that he scored thirty
points in three straight games that he'splayed in. That's phenomenal. I mean,
that's better obviously than anything we sawin the first half of the year
where he earned an All Star there. Do you get this kind of Paul

(38:50):
George in the playoffs? The teamgets eliminated and it ain't the Clippers,
so that's incredibly encouraging. The factthat he's dunking multiple times after halftime a
huge deal. I will add thattwo days off helps, but guess what,
in the playoffs, you get twodays off more often. And so
it's great to see him generate offensewhen it's not strictly the three, because

(39:13):
it was the opposite Thursday night againstthe Sons, when he made more threes
by himself than the entire Son's team. So it's great to see Paul diversify
his offense. We already know thathe has a great impact as a passer,
a rebounder, a defender and ateammate. These guys want to see
Paul George play well, do well, and succeed no matter who's turfing and

(39:36):
no matter who is forming certain narratives. So this is arguably the most encouraging
week of the season from Paul George, and I hope that he gets the
accolades to mark that down. Prayersup, emoji, Yeah, Player of
the Week PG third Team, especiallyafter the dunk. He's just having this
one that puts a nice exclamation pointnot just only on this game, but

(39:57):
the week he has had. LawMurray is my guest here. Low let
me ask you one more before Ilet you go. What do you think
is going to happen with the MarcusCousins who's on a ten day? In
light of the fact, and it'snot official, but reports say that Yogi
Farrell plans to sign a ten daycontract with the Clippers next week. That
was a sham's missile earlier today. What do you think happens with the bench

(40:22):
and how deep they're going to beable to go and who's available? Yeah,
they signed Malik Fits the morning thatPatrick Beverley had his surgery to repair
a fractured hand. And I thinkthat it's great that Malik has an opportunity

(40:42):
on the ten day. It mighthave to be. It might be the
only one that he has at themoment because Boogie is here for surgeon Bopy
insurance and Surge isn't any closer toreturning. It's the same thing with if
they add Farrell or anyone else ona ten day. Like, the bottom
line is they need Patrick Beverley insurancethat goes beyond the original Patrick Beverley insurance,

(41:07):
which is Rajan Rondell coming here. You know, they need basically Reggie
Jackson insurance. They need another pointguard because Jackson's been great, He's been
durable, but you can't take forgranted that that's gonna sustain and Rajan they're
not going to play him, They'renot going to overextend him by any means

(41:27):
whatsoever. They need another point guard. So when it comes down to it,
they'll they'll have their decision. Ithink Boogie's gonna stay barring something crazy
next week, and I think thateventually they'll make the decision on Malik and
they'll bring another point guard in herefor the short term. He is Law

(41:49):
Murray covers the Clippers for The Athletic. Follow him on Twitter at law Murray
and you r r A y znu. I read his article earlier today.
It was fantastastick work, Law,especially because you just went quarterly through
the season and talked about where theClippers were, what the numbers do say,
and where they could be going movingforward in this final now seventeen game

(42:12):
stretch before the playoffs. He isa reason to sign up for the Athletic.
He's the reason I'm there. SoLaw, thanks for doing this tonight.
I appreciate it. Hey, thankyou so much, Adam, and
hope you had a great weekend. And next time that there's a game here
at spl Center, there's gonna befans, so I hope everybody is staying
safe and can enjoy that part ofthe season. Sounds good, my friend.

(42:37):
I hope to see you there beforewe get out of here. From
friend to foe, Jeff and Tarzanaclose things out tonight. Okay, Adam,
I'm a little disappointed in the Clippers. Yeah, I mean, you
don't give up ninety nine points toDetroit in three and three quarters. Isn't

(42:58):
Detroit one of the scoring teams inthe NBA? Yeah, they're not great.
I believe they were twenty third inuh Pro one possessions rating. Okay,
and I think ty Lew has donea terrific job. But if you're
going to sign de Marcus Cousins toattend day contract, how is he going
to prove himself if he doesn't playwell? He just did did play the

(43:22):
last couple of games. Jeff,I think they know what they're getting out
of DeMarcus Cousins. I don't thinkthat's really in question. Okay. They
see him in practice, they've seenhim play a few minutes now in the
game. They know what he brings. Okay, well, I would like
to see him get more time. And I also would like to see Patterson
get more time. You know, when they're blowing out a team like did

(43:43):
Houston the other night, it doesn'tseem like the guys on the bench get
as much time as they should. And I'm not gonna I'm not gonna knock
Tyrone loose coaching because he's great, but that doesn't mean that you have other
players that can be there, likethe nixt step up. And the other
thing is I hope when the Clippersget in the playoffs that you're not going

(44:05):
to have Paul, George and Kawhimissed as many games as they are since
they've been Clippers. If you goover the two years, they've missed about
thirty percent of the games. Andyou know, these guys get big contract.
Jeff Jeff, Jeff, Jeff Jeff. They didn't miss a game in
the playoffs last year. You wantto keep guys fresh. This has been

(44:30):
a strategy going back years now.Any team that is an elite team with
championship aspirations, you want to makesure and most of the time they have
been. They've been banged up.Paul George dealing with a foot injury.
Kawhi Leonards been banged up here andthere. He's out tonight for rest purposes,
but he's been playing back to backsto this season. You want those

(44:51):
guys at one hundred percent as closeas you can be to that entering the
playoffs. That gives you the bestchance to win it all. If they
weren't playing Detroit tonight and they neededto win a game, and they were
playing like Portlands or Phoenix, doyou think that that Kawai would have missed
tonight's game. I don't know,Jeff. It depends on what you mean

(45:12):
by need to win a game. It's the regular season. If you're talking
about the standings right now, Ican give you an update there now.
The other night they were both playing. Yes, if it's a playoff game,
do I think Kawhi Leonard plays tonight. Yes, that's when you need
to win a game. Everybody wantsto over emphasize or exaggerate and be hyperbolic
with must win game tonight. Youcan't lose to the Detroit Pistons. These

(45:37):
games happen through a seventy two gameseason through an eighty two game season as
well. They found a way toget a w tonight. But they're currently
just a game and a half backof the Phoenix Suns, who they just
beat for the two seed, andthey still play them one more time.
And I talked about this earlier, but they gained a game on the Denver
Nuggets, who are behind the Clippersin the four seed because Denver lost earlier

(46:00):
today to the Boston Celtics. ButI believe in the way they are managing
players, because they're prioritizing the playoffsas you have to do, all right.
Before we get out of here,I do want to thank the Clippers
organization as their next game is comingup Tuesday in Indiana against the Pacers.

(46:27):
Let's thank Noah Eagle, hashtag futureGoat, Ryan Seaman, Ralph Lawler,
big brother, Jake Warner at StaplesCenter, our head engineer, our technical
