You know he's feeling good. Takethe show with you anywhere you are and
get the podcast. I mean,iHeart radio while and now your host.
(00:20):
He makes everything happen, Adam Ausley. I put my team on my back
like I'm Paul George. You inmy life? I was the baby.
Was Paul George smooth? Tonight inGame five, he drops thirty seven.
The Clippers win in Utah for thefirst time in four years with the final
(00:42):
score of one nineteen, So oneeleven over the Jazz. Welcome into your
Clippers post game show. This isClippers Talk. I'm at am maslin to
eight seven seven five two zero elevenfifty eight seven seven five two zero eleven
fifty is the phone number coming uphere on the show. We got game
audio from Paul George after this massiveperformance, I don't want to hear any
(01:04):
more playoff peace stuff, pandemic peacestuff, wayoff peace stuff ever again.
When the Clippers backs were against thewall, the collective backs of this Clippers
team without Kawhi Leonard. Paul Georgemay have just had the best performance of
his professional career. Has thirty sevenon twenty two shots, went to the
(01:26):
free throw line, knocked down tenof eleven, including some clutch ones.
Late had seven of his thirty sevenin the fourth quarter, including a big
time and one over Royce O'Neill. And oh yeah, he led them in
the rebounding department with sixteen boards, three offensive rebounds and played forty minutes.
(01:46):
Just an otherworldly performance from Paul George, who stepped up in the Clippers darkest
hour when they needed him most.He came through tonight. The Clippers win
Game five. They're up three gamesto two in this best seven second round
series, and they're coming back toStaples Center and the Cavalry is going to
meet them by way of the ClippersNation having that place completely full for the
(02:12):
first time in almost a year anda half. Staples Center is going to
be fully loaded with nineteen thousand screamingClippers fans, with them having their chance
to close out this second round seriesand get to the Western Conference Finals for
the first time in franchise history. There is more work to be done,
(02:34):
and we're hoping for the best withKawhi Leonard in that right knee. But
this was one of the biggest winsin franchise history. They hadn't won in
Utah since the playoffs back in twentyseventeen when they won Game six there to
force a Game seven with CP threeon the team still. Blake Griffin got
injured earlier in that series and theywould go on to losing seven. But
(02:59):
this team, We've been talking aboutit all season long. They are a
resilient bunch. They just refuse tolose no matter who is out there,
and there were some great performances withoutKawhi Leonard. Terrence Man is in the
starting lineup. Give coach lew Allthe credit for that move. And how
about the move by Terrence Man inthe fourth quarter he went kJ Kevin Johnson
(03:23):
on Rudy Gobert. That's what thatreminded me of. It was I think
the ninety four playoffs and Kevin Johnsonattacked the rim with Achim Elijah On defending
it and threw it down on him. Terrence Man just went after the best
shot blocker, the best rim protectorin the game, who just won his
(03:44):
third Defensive Player of the Year Awardand Rudy Gobert and Terrence Mann threw it
down and got the N one andwould hit the free throw to put the
Clippers up seven. But the UtahJazz we're not going away, and Paul
George had to hit that N one, that law jumper over Royce O'Neill.
It was clutch and it gave him. I believe his seventh point of the
(04:08):
fourth quarter had thirty points headed intothe fourth. Just a spectacular performance from
Paul George. All the haters, all the detractors, the weight and the
pressure that has been on his shouldersand the jokes that have been getting off
from people on Twitter over the pastyear with him, and this season was
(04:30):
his revenge season. But it wouldn'thave mattered if he didn't show up big
in the playoffs. And he haslast three games now thirty one points,
thirty one points, and thirty sevenpoints tonight without Kawhide Leonard on the court.
Paul George is a certified superstar.Don't ever doubt that. Again.
He also had five assists. Yes, he had five turnovers, some bad
(04:55):
ones on the fourth quarter. Playmakingis something he's still coming around with,
but he has has been so muchbetter this season. He has had to
run the point a ton and hewas in control for the most part in
this game. And there was somespectacular ball movement in that fourth quarter where
the ball ended up in the handsof Reggie Jackson. Action Jackson my player
(05:15):
to watch tonight. You know,Reggie's gonna put him up when he's getting
even more shot attempts because Kawhi Leonard'sobviously not out there. This guy has
a green light all the time.So without Kauhai, I figured, okay,
it's a Reggie Jackson type game. The last game against Utah in Utah
back in Game two, he helpedspearhead that twenty one point comeback that would
(05:40):
come up just short, but hehad twenty two points in the second half
of that one. He finishes withtwenty two points in this game, but
he had twelve of them in thefourth quarter. And when the Clippers went
cold, and I mean ice cold, three and a half minute scoreless to
start the fourth quarter, it wasReggie Jackson that got them on the board.
(06:00):
He had ten of their first thirteenpoints in the fourth. The Clippers
would finish with twenty seven points totalin the fourth quarter, Utah had twenty
eight, and the Clippers made justenough big plays late, got just enough
big time rebounds, and Reggie Jackson. I mentioned the ball movement. It
started with Paul George who found Nicholasbut Tum in the quarter corner, who
(06:24):
swung it over to Marcus Moores, who then hit Reggie Jackson for a critical
three pointer when Utah was making theirrun. Marcus moorees, by the way,
let's not forget he stepped up reallythe first time during the playoffs where
he's had back to back great shootinggames three or four from distance, ten
(06:44):
of sixteen from the field, hastwenty five points after having i want to
say, twenty four last game wherehe went five of six from distance.
In Game four back at Staples Center, Marcus was great. Had ten of
those twenty five in the first quarter. The Clippers got off to a hot
start, but nobody could match whatthe Utah Jazz were doing. They hit
(07:10):
ten threes in the first quarter alone. Bogdanovich started six of six from distance
and the Clippers were still only downone after twelve minutes. They survived the
onslot. The barrage of three pointerscoming from the Utah Jazz they were doing
something special. They had seventeen threesat the half. They were ridiculous from
(07:32):
the outside. They could not miss. In fact, they would started seventeen
of thirty from three, but theywould hit only three more three pointers in
the final twenty four minutes in thesecond half, where they would go just
three who of twenty four in thefinal twenty four minutes of this game and
(07:56):
the third quarter. In the fourthquarter, the law of averages snap back
in a wicked, brutal way forthe Utah Jazz, where they would go
just three of twenty four in thefinal twenty four minutes. They finished twenty
of fifty four from three, that'sthirty seven percent. Meanwhile, the Clippers
went sixteen of forty. The UtahJazz put up fifty four three pointers.
(08:18):
The Clippers survive. They're coming backto Staples Censor up three two in front
of nineteen thousand raging Clippers fans thatare waiting for them, with a chance
to get to the Western Conference Finalsfor the first time in franchise history.
(08:39):
Paul George came through with thirty seven. Clippers win by eight in Utah in
Game five, with the final scoreone nineteen to one to eleven coming back.
We'll get to all your phone calls. Jose and Southgate who called me
at the half and proclaimed that theClippers would win down five and a half.
(09:00):
He had faith. Jeff and Tarzana'sonline. We got mores along beat
Sean and Inglewood. More Clippers stuckcoming up next. Eight seven seven,
five two zero, eleven fifty.I'm Adam Oslin and this is the Patriot
AM eleven fifteen, which I'm aboutthe Clippers, the LA Clippers and the
(09:24):
Utah Jazz. You're listening to playoffbasketball on the LA Clippers official home.
George foulon extended on the fourth sideagainst on a couple of chat steps for
George, he's going one on one. Paul rise Over the topic, got
the foul call, he put itin. Paul George, the eighteen footer
is true and a three point playfor PG thirteen tonight. The man has
(09:50):
been rated r. When you sayplayoff pe, you better mean it affectionately.
After what Paul George just did.He has thirty seven and the Clippers
pull off a Game five victory inUtah without Kawhi Leonard welcome back in the
Clippers talk after they win one nineteento one to eleven in Utah, first
(10:13):
time they have won there in fouryears, and they do so without the
Claws. Somehow, some way, they scratched and clawed their way to a
victory in this one, and thelaw of averages finally went in their favor.
After the Utah Jazz hit seventeen threesin the first half, they would
hit just three in the second half. Marcus Morris finished with twenty five reg
(10:33):
Reggie Jackson had twenty two. Twelveof those points came in the fourth quarter.
He went at Rudy Gobert. Clippershave not shied away, as Noah
Eagles pointed out, from going atthe stifle tower. But how about Terrence
Man after what happened at the endof Game five last series against the Dallas
Mavericks where he shied away from takinga lay up late that could have won
(10:56):
that game. That was a redemptiondunk. He had the end one over
Rudy Gobert with three minutes left.Tonight, Terrence Mann says, I'm not
gonna be afraid this time around.I'm coming right to the basket against the
best defender rim protector in the league. In Rudy Gobert, Terrence Man was
fearless. And this Clippers team, they've done it all season long. This
(11:18):
is what they do when you countthem out, when it seems like things
are falling apart. Tyler and thiscoaching staff and they're superstars, they just
rally. The role players step up. It was a complete team victory,
as it always is, but especiallytonight without Kawhi Leon are different guys stepping
(11:39):
up. Luke Kennard hit a coupleof big three pointers in this one.
Nicholas Batoum hit three three pointers. He had four steals in the game.
The small ball has worked. Welcomeback in two Clippers Clippers talk, I'm
out of Maslin all right, Joseand Southgate get things started, all right.
I don't I'm gonna thinks by saying, Liz, I'm so hyped up
(12:01):
right now, So I'm gonna getthis in before you come me up because
I'm going too long. Who manfirst two one hundred wins. It's the
law. And I don't know ifI heard White, but Emmy nominated or
Emmy Award winning, No eagle, thank you, thank you at a w
a all right clipping nation you hearme right, Oh my goodness, hey,
(12:24):
like you said, shout out theCanard, shout out datum. But
it came down to Terrence Man beinga man and revenging himself. And then
Regie Jackson Man, I told myforemaker. He texted me at six am
breaking me the news about playing andI took my Sheety Cash's home and I
wore him the whole game, justfor Regie Jackson. And then on top
of that, it came down toplay off key. My girl heard me
(12:48):
whining. She thought we lost. No, it's because Peg made the shot
and one Adam Adam culture at halftime and you answered, thank you for
that, and this is why you'reready. Let's go Plappers. Thank you,
Jose and South game somebody else whoI want to highlight. He played
seventeen minutes, went two of five, but he had his five points at
(13:13):
the end of the third quarter.Paul George was out of the game.
The last two minutes of the thirdquarter. Patrick Beverly would hit a three
pointer. He had a floater overRudy Gobert. Patrick Beverly was huge.
He has had a bad foul inthe fourth quarter, but the positives completely
outweighed the negatives with mister ninety fourfeet. He has helped change the direction
(13:35):
and the trajectory of where this serieswas going. After the Clippers were down
two games to none and they aretrying, they are on the precipice of
history because they could be the firstteam to come back down two during a
single playoff run multiple times. Nobodyelse has done that before. Let's go
to oh Man. There are alot of calls online and I haven't screened
(13:58):
them all. Here we got up. There we go, Morris, A
long beach. Morris, what's up? Yeah, my brother? I looked
like I'm looking at some day Javuin the NBA. Here. Remember back
in the day when the Big Redheadbeat Doctor Jay. They were up to
love and the Big Redhead came backin one fourth straight. You might be
kind of young to remember that, but this was the best Clipper game I've
(14:18):
ever seen in my life. I'mgonna tell you why. I was telling
my wife, we need to callAdam Silver and that guy Undone if we're
gonna have to drug test him. This guy, I couldn't believe they got
thirty points on ten shots. Andthe guy that called you that said the
Clippers gonna win, win the game, they happed. I agree with him
after what I saw and those guys. The Clipper was only down by five,
I said, baby, because they'regonna win the game because these guys
can't go. They can't shoot likethis for forty eight minutes in the National
(14:41):
Basketball Association. And then if youtalk about the winner at Game five,
where we win Game five normally winsthe series, I'm gonna tell you something
right now, Adam, nobody can. This seems as unbelievable, man,
I mean, they just do.They keep talking about how the Clippers had
got depth, right, everybody tookthe Clippers are deep. The Clippers are
deep. Tonight we saw it.It wasn't no rhetoric. It was the
real deal. Holy tonight, wesaw it. They are deep. And
I tell you right now, don'tbet against him. Let me calm down.
(15:05):
Talk you lad, Thank you Morris. This was their stiffest test when
you're talking about how deep they arethe bench, the depth on this team,
to not have Kawhi Leonard, whohas been right there with Kevin Durant.
They've been, I guess, jockingback and forth for who's been the
best playoff performer so far in thetwenty twenty one NBA Playoffs. He goes
(15:26):
out with the right knee injury. We find out that news earlier today,
and this Clippers team finds a wayto win. Anyways, let's go to
Sean and Inglewood. Sean, what'sup. You're on Clippers stype without Muslin?
Hey, Adam, First of all, Clipper Nation, are you not
entertained? Are you not entertained? You go at him? But you know
(15:54):
what I called it at the beginningof the series when I called you from
Houston, I said, Clippers andsix and today I was totally confident that
they will win because they have thebest bitch and Paul George was the best
player on the floor. And theykept taking it to the hoop, which
(16:14):
is what they had to do.So you really get Rudy Gobert foul trouble
and they moved the ball good.It was just a good win all over.
And then the defense and the lastquarter was really superb. Man.
I'm telling you, I'm proud ofmy guys. Proud of my guy.
Go ahead, Sean, this one'sfor you. Throw your sword into the
(16:38):
crowd. That's basically what the Clippersdid. They were in enemy territory.
They were in the lions den,and they survived without Kawhi Leonard. They
had won there since twenty seventeen inSalt Lake City. What a victory?
All right, coming back, I'llscreen some of these phone calls. I'm
(17:00):
all discombobulated. What a win.Paul George thirty seven points. What's some
respect on his name? Mark Clippersstock next right here on the Patriot amble.
This is the second round of theNBA Playoffs. Why Renard, I'm
(17:22):
your official home of La Clippers basketball. Jackson will be the cattle. Let's
get it's a man nearside corner,Pump thick and drive on, go Bear
with seven shoot back to Jackson knockedout of his Handrew Covers puts up the
corner three on the nearside and hitsRuttie Jackson full's eye in the corner one
oh three, ninety seven. Jackson'sgot eighteen and the Clippers go back up
(17:45):
by six. Reggie action Jackson, big government with the bailout. Just a
ridiculous park on some of those shotsfrom the outside from reason. He has
twelve of his twenty two in thefourth quarter, and the Clippers win in
Utah one nineteen o one to eleven. In Game five without Kawhi Leonard,
(18:10):
Paul George finishes with thirty seven Welcomeback into Clippers Talk. I'm Adam Aslin
to eight seven, seven, five, two zero eleven, fifty lines.
They're letting up. Must be agood subject. Let's go to who we
got your Kevin in Culver City.Kevin, you're on Clipper's tale without Aim
Aslin. Adam, what is up? Brother? Great win? I tell
(18:32):
you you're a great host. Youkept the passion in there, and I'm
gonna let you try. I justgot a couple of things. First of
all, I didn't hear any playoffPete Champs in Utah to night. Yeah,
put some respect on his name.Like Birdman said, Paul George must
have been listening to this show. He's doing everything I said. Go to
the basket. The mid range gamewas great, the three point shooting was
(18:52):
great and opened everything else up.And the reason I'm so hard on this
guy is because when he puts hishead down, he goes to the basket
and he just says, I'm adog and I'm a score. He's one
of the best players in the league. He was the best player on the
court tonight with Donovan Mitchell, andPaul George showed why he's a superstar.
I'm so proud of him. I'mso proud of this effort and RP Kobe
(19:14):
Bryant. That move he had towin the game. The and one was
Kobe Bryant. It was picturesque. It was perfect poetry in motion. The
post up, he had the mambashake, the little jump shot the mid
range that was Kobe, and heworked out with Kobe and you saw it
right there in this game. Hehad the mamba mentality. And I'm so
proud of Paul George. That wasthe best Clipper game I've ever seen.
That was one of the best playoffperformances I've ever seen. This is a
(19:37):
great Utah team and Paul George steppedup and put this team on his back.
All you Clipper fans in here,Morris Jeff and Tarzana Jose, respect
Paul George and to call these othershows and let these guys know, these
talking heads, Paul George is areal deal and this Clipper team is a
championship team and we're not backing down. This is the type of effort we
needed to see. I'm so proudof Clipper Nations. Stand up and Solucia
(20:00):
Clippers and stand up proud. Whatplayoff peat it tonight? What an effort
and what a great team win playoffAdam cheer, stand up? And what
a phone call? Oh, Zach, I'm sorry I could do that again.
Respect on my name, Zach L. Cowley pulling out all the stuffs.
He's got the sound ready for you. We had the Russell crowe are
(20:22):
you not entertained? Last segment? That was for Josean Southgate or Sean and
Inglewood Moore's the Long Beach. Ican't remember. We've had so many calls
tonight after this big time Clippers victory. Let's get to one more. Bill
and Irvine. Bill, what's uphere on Clipper Shop without must I'm standing
up in the studio like j thebrick, what's up? Thanks for taking
(20:44):
my call? That one color wasalluding to Bill Walton against the Philly six
ers and seventy seven. But it'sgreat to really finally have a Game five
that rings so loud and true.Bill, let me tell you something.
This was the first Game five theClippers have won in a second round series.
I believe first time, right, because you start, you start with
(21:07):
Sam Castille smiling up and saying, what eight second violation? You know,
they after Phoenix eliminated Lakers and theClippers, You're right, and then against
Oklahoma City with the two turnovers byChris Paul, You're right. It's it
feels so special and they're going homeand you know for game six, whereas
before they go home and have animpressive win on it a losing seven bill
(21:29):
strong memory there, my friend waitto go. Also speaking of memories,
Rip City or Clutch City. Yeah, the same year they beat Utah,
Phoenix and Houston. You had thatgreat play that you were talking about with
the kJ. So it was ninetyfive when kJ dunked on a chemolize unless
they played two years in a row, unless those two teams played in that
(21:51):
round. But I'm pretty sure becausethey were down, their fans were booing
him. They were down in Houston, two out to Phoenix, and they
also won the last two against Utahthe best out of five. But yeah,
kJ was something special. I gotto see him play against Magic back,
you know, when like the ninetyafter after the I forget which after
(22:11):
the Magic return in ninety five six. Actually it was after eighty seven.
It was eighty It was like eightya when Magic and Kevin got into a
scrap after they got their rings. They both got kicked out because they they
like each other, but they werebasically real competitors. Game. Yeah,
(22:33):
I think with the excitement of everyonestepping up in Kawai's absence, I'm hoping
that. I know it's every otherday, but let's say the Clippers get
it done. I hope Kawai mightbe able to be back for Game one
Sunday in Phoenix. Unless I'm dreaming. Well, Bill, you might have
(22:53):
to pinch yourself because tonight's victory forthe Clippers must have felt like a dream
for Clipper Nation after this morning goingthrough that nightmare. While we have a
moment, let's pause ten seconds forstation identification. Here on the Patriot AM
eleven fifty, This is La ClippersBasketball AM eleven fifty KADIV, Los Angeles,
(23:14):
an iHeart radio station. Let's talkhistory for a second. Paul George
is the first player in franchise historyto have at least thirty five points,
fifteen rebounds, and five assists ina postseason game. He also had a
postseason career high for himself sixteen boards. Marcus Morris Senior had his postseason career
high twenty five points tonight, andPaul George joined Kevin Durant is the only
(23:38):
two players this postseason to have atleast thirty five points, fifteen boards,
and five assists. Everybody was talkingabout earlier today how they need to see
Paul George do what Kevin Durant didlast night carrying the Nets to a victory
over the Milwaukee Bucks. A PGdid it and then some what a spectacular
(24:00):
of their performance and he's dealt withso much throwing his way. He talked
about it after that early victory inthe season where Nicholas Batoum hit that corner
three in Phoenix where they got thatvictory over the Suns. It was a
big one and if they could getpast this Utah team, they would see
the Suns in the Western Conference finals. No love lost between these two teams.
But Paul George had I think threeeight in that game was huge,
(24:23):
had to assist to Nicholas Batoum, and he said, if I have to
go through the fire this season becauseguys are calling me out all the time,
on the court, so be it. I'll go through the fire.
And this Clippers team, they maybe taking the longer route, not exactly
the path of least resistance, beingdown two zero in back to back series
(24:45):
here, but the heart and justthe effort they played with tonight, Clipper
Nation, you got to be proud. Let's go to Greg and Vince Eura.
My bad, Zack, Greg, what's up? You're on Clipper's side
without amazin. Hey, Adam, the last time I called was after the
second loss, and I hammered youfor talking about tired legs. Do you
(25:08):
remember that you did? Yeah,And you know I still maintained that they
didn't have tired legs. But Adam, I asked you, has any team
lost the first two games in aseries and then one and then gone on
to the next series in the losttwo games? And you said, well,
(25:32):
I'll check it out. But itturned out that nobody has ever done
that. But here we go,Adam. The Clippers are way out to
break that record. And it wasa great game tonight. And I'm just
so happy that playoff Paul came through. Aren't you Playoff Paul? He was
(25:55):
amazing. He came through when theyneeded him most tonight, not just having
thirty seven points and doing it ontwenty two shots, but sixteen rebounds.
This Clippers team has gotten so scrappyon the defensive rebounding end because they're constantly
playing small. They did it lastround against the Dallas Mavericks. They're doing
(26:18):
it against Rudy Gobert, and hemade him pay for a while. There
was a point where he had threestraight offensive rebounds. He turned that into
six points. But the Clippers havehad to out hustle and out work teams
and get to those fifty fifty ballsduring these playoffs because Avizza Zoo has Avizza
Zoobas hasn't played as much just eightminutes tonight, and they still don't have
(26:41):
search Abacca, who's gonna be outfor the season. We're still hoping for
good news when it comes to KawhiLeonard in that right knee. I don't
have an update for you yet,but coming back, we'll get to CG
and Alhambra, We'll get to Keithand Marvin as well and Jeff and Tarzana
is still online more Clippers talk. After they win in Utah one nineteen to
(27:03):
one eleven, they're coming back toStaples Center with Clipper Nation, back to
the eighteen thousand that we used toknow and love to see at Staples Center.
It's gonna be fully loaded, apacked house Friday night for the first
time and almost a year and ahalf, you're listening to Clippers talk.
(27:25):
I'm out of Moslin and this isthe Patriot. The quest for the Larry
O'Brien is off for them to getto the Promised Land for the first time
in franchise history. You're listening toLa Clippers playoff basketball on their exclusive hold.
George rightaway boots, twitch right crossoverand splits a double team. George
inside kick out Man, full fakehump, fake drive, middle to the
(27:48):
ram Hoh terrets Man slams over Gobert, cutting in a foul. The kid
is fearless and the three time DefensivePlayer of the Year just caught another body
inside. Terrence Man a big playlate in the fourth quarter with a chance
for three. Tupac would have turnedfifty today puled. George almost had fifty.
(28:11):
He finished with thirty seven and theClippers one nineteen to one to eleven
victory over the Utah Jazz. TerrenceMan had that big time play on the
stifle tower would convert the and oneand the Clippers just continue. I don't
want to say shock the world becauseClipper Nation knows what this team is all
(28:33):
about. This is what they do. When the Chips are down, they
find a way to pull out avictory. They did so again without Kawhi
Leonard Marcus Morris had twenty five ReggieJackson had twenty two, twelve points in
the fourth quarter when the Clippers offensewas really sputtering. They had multiple shot
clock violations, but they did justenough to pull out a victory in a
(28:57):
Game five, and they're up threegames of two in this best of seven
second round series. CJ and Alhambra, you're on Clippers stock with Adam as
and what's up? CJ. Hey, Adam. In the immortal words of
James Brown, this is a man'sworld, and Terrence rocked it. Terrence
(29:18):
rocked it. This kid is thefuture, and I loved everything that he
did. The second thing is thatthere are a lot of haters out there,
especially guys that are in the AMdial one forty north of you,
that we're saying that PG needed todo it all by his damn self and
(29:44):
he didn't, and I take umbragewith that because we need the Marcus,
need Reggie, and they stepped throughand our ex factor in Nicholas Patum.
We also need to marinate in thefact that in the first half the Utah
Jazz probably played their best postseason gameever and we still withstood all thanks to
(30:08):
defense. So you know, Iknow, a couple of nights ago,
I swore that I wasn't going tocall back. Your producer wants to throw
on that snoop dog bite, Butyou know what this game brought me in,
brother, I am all about theClipper nation. I will never die.
I will never stop to exist.Adam, you and Noah Eagle are
(30:33):
doing it like you can. Thankyou, brother CJ. I'm glad you're
back. I hain't no fun ifthe Clippers can't happen. Hey, that
Snoop dog bite, that's okay, because he said this Clippers team was better
than the Lakers, and he actuallywas on board back in twenty nineteen when
(30:56):
he saw the Clippers come back downthirty one of it or Colorina against the
Golden State Warriors. So even thoughhe's a Lakers fan, he might I'm
not gonna say get converted. Butit's hard not to root for these Clippers
with the guys on this team, they are extremely likable. And how can
you not root for Paul George?Like what is wrong with people just attacking
(31:22):
him out of nowhere? And PaulGeorge just shook it off and played maybe
the best game of his career consideringthe stakes, considering all the pressure on
him, and his CJ brought upeverybody saying he has to do it all.
He didn't. That's just not possibleagainst this Utah Jazz team. Not
one guy is going to be ableto beat them. But Paul George led
(31:45):
them thirty seven points, sixteen boards, five assists and that and won late.
And it was Kobe Bryant esk Andthat was his mentor. That was
his favorite player ever growing up hereand here in southern California. That was
his guy. And uh, thatwas a great call. Earlier we had
(32:06):
a caller point that out that thatwas a cool moment. Definitely some mamba
mentality tonight from PG thirteen Marvin inDowntown Los Angeles, you're on Clipper stop
with Adamson. Hey, Adam, what a great Clipper win? Props to
Tylo and also palled George and TeamMan for setting it up. It was
also great TC two a tea man'ssensays who been in a back burner,
(32:31):
Pat Beverly, and also Rajon Rondo, who I'm sure had had some influence
on Team Man defensively and offensively toup his game. And last, if
we end up going I don't getahead of myself, but if they end
up going to play the Suns andc P three is still out, let's
hold back on Kawhi Leonard until he'she's back, Like Kawhi Leonard gets some
(32:55):
rest, gets some acupuncture, quartersonshots, and also I'm astage with a
championship ending. That's all. Thankyou, Marvin, appreciate the phone call.
You brought up Coach Lou earlier there, and there were people here at
(33:17):
this station going after him a lotafter the Clippers were down two OHO to
the Dallas Mavericks, and I'm suresome people were doing it again when they
were down two OHO to the UtahJazz. But what I love about Coach
Lou is his flexibility, and hejust soaks up all the information early on
in a series and then just startsuggesting and tightening things up and finding the
(33:38):
right matchups and finding the right rotationsand the right groups out there. And
for Terrence Man to not play hardlyat all, at least he was playing
inconsequential minutes in the first two games. To then him starting without Kawhi Leonard
tonight, I think it says alot about t. Lou. He is
(33:59):
willing to give a guy a chance. And the impact that Terrence made Man
made in this game, they don'twin it without him. He was in
there during crunch time down the stretchand the Clippers win one nineteen one to
eleven. So to me, CoachLou deserves all the praise throughout these playoffs.
(34:21):
He's just been the king of adjustmentsand finding the right matchups and that's
what he was here to do.And some people were mocking them, say,
where are those adjustments. They're nothappening yet. Well, Dallas wasn't
missing from three the Utah Jazz. They weren't missing from three of the first
couple of games. They weren't missingfrom three in the first half tonight.
Sometimes you're out of team's mercy ifthey get hot from beyond the arc.
(34:44):
In this league nowadays, with allthe great shooters, but the Clippers have
taken things into their own hands withthe way that they have gone small and
that's turned things around for them. But I just can't say enough about coach
Lou And here he was postgame speakingwith the media, right, Reggie obviously
asserting the complimentary of what Paul didtoday. You obviously before the games that
(35:07):
this was not all on Paul, but thirty seven points sixteen rebounds, knowing
the reception he gets with his performancesgood and bad throughout the year, what
did you make of his statements night? That was a big statement. I
mean, just also in the wordsit really doesn't matter like they just trying
to make up anything, you know, But man, he's a great player.
(35:29):
Like I said tonight, you know, he carried us. He had
to step up in the first halfhe really you know, he really dominated
expensively. And then second half hemade some great passes. We didn't knock
down shots every time, but hemade some good reads as well. And
I thought, just you know, like I said, having those rebounds was
was key because as a stretch withGoldbery really hurt us on the glass.
But for PG half sixteen, youknow, rebounds that was hum So there's
(35:51):
a total team effort. Man.Like I said, I'm five of our
guys. We've been any situations before, you know what, guys had to
step up and be ready to play. And every guy that played tonight contributed.
And that's a team that we havementally tough, mentally strong, and
we just keep fighting to the end. Last year, you guys went through
stretches where the lineups were all overthe place, there were injuries, and
(36:13):
it seemed like that was something thathobbled the team's potential of the lack of
continuity. Why this year you guysseem to have gained strength from not playing
with regular rotations and playing shorthanded. Why why is there such a difference this
year? And even I mean,I don't know. We just wasn't afraid
to try new things. I mean, we tried a lot of different guys
with a lot of different positions,a lot of guys got a lot of
(36:34):
time playing with each other when guyswere out, and we just had to
find ways to win. Sometimes itwas ugly, but we had to do
it. And I just think whenguys being out this season, playing a
lot of different combinations, a lotof guys with a lot of different positions.
That's really helped us, you know, and like I said, with
Kawai going down, you know, for guys to step up, playing out
like we had Team Man playing thefive today, you know, so guys
(36:55):
to step up. We just pluggedguys in. We just continue to keep
playing all we played the right way. We played together, and we had
that tough toughness about us and we'regonna be fine. And we move over
to Mark mcdina. That's I geta sick and rats on the wind.
You touched on Pig's performance, butwere there any leadership moments that jumped out
to that Paul showed whether it wasyou know, after you guys learned the
(37:15):
news about Kauai's injury, or teammeetings and the huddles, what sort of
things jumped out to with that.I mean just this morning, you know
before Shooter and I said, tI got us, and he said the
same thing after the games and justthank you for trusting and believing in me,
you know, all season long. And I said, man, come
on, he's serious, like he'sbeen phenomenal. So like I said,
(37:36):
he did that tonight. Marcus wasgreat, said the tone really, you
know, offensively, you know,Team Man's big play down the stretch,
Veggie's two big threes down the stretch. You know, we all just you
know, stuck together and we foundways to win. And that's what you
gotta do when you when you wantto compete for a championship. There was
Coach lou post game. He talkedabout Paul George making a statement there to
start things off. I mean,he is caught so much flak, so
(38:00):
many unnecessary strays all the time.He misses any shot and people start trending
with playoff p It's really been unbelievablethe amount of criticism and scrutiny and I
think undeserved that has been on PaulGeorge since what happened in the bubble last
(38:22):
season. He's responded, he's becomestronger because of it. And I just
saw this. Paul George scored thirtyseven points on twelve of twenty two shooting,
with just one of the attempts cominguncontested. Meanwhile, he held Utah
Jazz players to four of thirteen shooting. Just a spectacular all time performance for
(38:46):
PG thirteen. All Right, speakingof an Ald Timer, let's go to
Jeff and Tarzana. I said, ald timer, not old timer, Jeff,
what's up? Let me tell yousomething I haven't. I've been a
Clipper fan since they played at theSports Arena when they had Charles Smith and
trying to think of the other theother guy that played Lloyd Vott. I
(39:09):
could not be happier with this teamas they played tonight. This shows class,
dignity and charm. Steve Bamber oughtto be the happiest he's been since
he made all that money in thestock market. I have been a Clipper
fan. I've taken abuse for yearsand years, and I said at the
(39:31):
start of the year, Adam,if you remember me correctly, that this
is a team that could win thechampionship. And until Doris Burke gave the
Clippers the nodding that they were thebest team, or she said she thought
they were the best team, wehave nothing but heard bad things about the
Clippers and everything. And I amso happy to be a Clipper fan.
(39:55):
And I hope Kawai can come backto play. I don't know how how
serious this injury is, but youknow the Sons are not going to have
Chris Paul for a while, sothat should probably even enough. And Adam,
you've done a terrific job on theshow, even though you've not been
right about everything. Oh I'm notperfect, Jeff. I just have to
(40:17):
be more right than you at all. That will be the day. But
I'm very happy to be a Clipperfan and I am delighted to how they've
been playing. And I really agreewith the gentleman that called I think his
name was Kenny from Cliver City orsomething about how the supports this team.
(40:37):
And I don't think like other peoplehave stated on another station, I don't
want to give that station credit thatit's a Laker town A ninety five to
three. Do you understand what you'resaying happened, don't you? Yeah?
I think I'm picking up what you'reputting down. But Jeff, your faith
is being rewarded this Clipper team. You got to be proud of the way
(41:00):
they played tonight. I appreciate thephone call, Jeff. We'll talk to
your Friday night, hopefully, becauseyou only call when there's a victory.
Before we get out of here,I do want to hear from the man
of the hour. He deserves allthe love for what he did tonight.
And this Clippers team overcoming the oddsonce again. Here was Paul George postgame
(41:21):
PG. What an incredibly hard foughtgame this was tonight. This Jazz team
would not go away. You hadsix different players and double figures. Can
you describe the resiliency that your squadshow playing this game without Kawai Leonard tonight?
Yeah, this was I thought thiswas our toughest match up this postseason.
(41:43):
This was the biggest game of ourof our season, especially being down
our best player. We wish Kawaithe best in the speedy recovery, but
we knew coming into this we hadwe had to play together. We had
to step up, but we didn'thave to over lead to it. I
thought everybody played their roles. Wedid a great job. We played collectively
and against this team you have toyou know, we've limited our turnovers and
(42:07):
I thought that school was the keepingup when you took a look at the
first half, they shot lights out. Then in the second half you held
them to just three made threes inthe entire second half. Defensively, what
was the key there? Just stickwith it. I mean, I thought
a lot of their threes were toughones. We didn't overreact. They came
out hot. Good thing about itwas we was able to read that weather
(42:29):
the storm. We came down.We attacked him on offense as well.
We just took their blows, Wetook their punches. But I know we
just thought they couldn't sustain that overa full forty eight game. When you
take a look at where this seriesnow is, you go up three two,
you're heading home, you are onegame away from heading to the Western
Conference Finals. What's it gonna taketo close this thing out at home?
(42:51):
Put this one behind us, getready for you know, a rock and
crowd back in La. Unbelievable opportunitywe got waiting for us back. We
just gotta go into the midset thatwe don't want to come back to Utah.
Thank you, Hey, Mom,may Dad. There's Paul George postgame.
He said, coming into this one, the goal is to not have
(43:15):
to go back to Utah after thistrip. So hopefully they're coming back home
and they're staying there until the WesternConference Finals, but that means they have
to close things out in game six. Friday night tip time is at seven
pm. We'll have Clippers count downyour pregame show starting at six pm with
a packed house, a full houseat Staples Center for the first time in
(43:42):
over a year. Before we getout of here, I do want to
thank the Clippers organization, Noah Eagle, Brian Seaman, Ralph Lawlor, and
back here in the bank Zach L. Caul d until Friday night with the
pregame show starting at six Madam Oslin, what a victory. We'll talk to
you that this has been Clippers toall playoff. Addition, the home of
