(00:00):
The game is over. Paul Georgemoney in the pain, but the postgame
reaction has just begot Kawhi Leonard isso smooth in the mid range. This
is Clippers Locker Room, a recapof today's game and a look ahead on
your hope for LA Clippers basketball. And now your host, You, sir,
are a bad man, Adam Ausley. Clippers head into the all Star
(00:24):
breaking style with a one sixteen oneoh seven victory and Phoenix over the Suns.
Welcome into your postgame show. I'mnot a Maslin coming up second half
highlights, your final box score. You'll hear from the head coach and the
players after this one. But firstwe go back out to Noah Eagle.
Noah, who do you want tostart? With a lot of good performances
and some clutch ones late, Ithought this may have been the best fourth
(00:45):
quarter for the Clippers all season.Yeah, it was certainly up there because
defensively they locked in when they neededto. Offensively, they still put up
twenty five points, and I thought, Paul George, I think we should
start there. I felt like hewas really the closer in this one.
You know, Kawhi was struggling allnight we finished, it was sixteen point.
It's all of them in the secondhalf and somehow did it when they
needed it the most. But Ireally think Paul George hit some massive jump
(01:07):
shots in that fourth quarter, gotto the rim as well, just kept
forcing the issue, kept attacking, recognizing the mismatches when he had them,
and he wasn't scared of the moment. And that's what you need to see
out of Paul George, who look, let's face it, had been struggling
a little bit over the last coupleof games. He just didn't look like
the all star version of himself.Well, today I thought he was every
bit an all star. Twenty sixsix five and a steal in thirty seven
minutes, and that steal was criticalthat ended up in that jump ball too
(01:30):
with Chris Paul. He was justawesome to me. Yeah, Terrence Man
also a twenty six points. Youtalked with him post game, but when
he wasn't getting to the basket atwill, he was knocking down shots from
the outside. One of the bestgames of his young career in the regular
season. Yeah, no doubt, three or four from downtown, ten of
twelve overall, and you heard whathe said I actually loved what he said.
He knows that because of who he'sstarting with on the floor, it's
(01:53):
him, Paul, George Kawhi,Leonard Marcus Morrison of eats his zoobots.
He believes he's getting the worst defenderon the opposing team, so he needs
to take advantage. And today thatwas Chris Paul. And guess what,
Chris Paul just didn't have a matchfor him because the size advantage was so
evident for Terrence, and he bulliedhis way in the paint time and time
again, and when that three ballsfalling, there's nothing you can do because
(02:14):
he's so athletic, he's so active, he's so energetic, he's just good.
He's just a good basketball player.And I know that there are a
lot of opportunities potentially for the Clippersto maybe swing for a superstar like a
Kyrie Irving or somebody and give upteam man in the process. But I
think most of Clipper Nation is incrediblythankful that he is still on this team.
And I'm gonna give it a stepfurther here that he has really embraced
(02:36):
this point guard role because he hasplayed excellent basketball as the starting point guard
for this team, no doubt.I thought it beats the Zubats. You
mentioned there had a great ball gameplayed outplayed DeAndre eight and it also had
a beautiful passive terrist Man cutting baselinein the fourth that was massive. Thirteen
points, twelve rebounds for Big Zooin twenty nine minutes, and with him
and Plumbly together because Zoo played twentynine, Plumbly played eighteen. So you
(03:00):
combine those two, that is fortyseven of the forty eight minutes. Just
think about the difference from what theClippers have had to do. And you're
going up against the guy and DeAndreAyton who can put the ball in the
basket in a hurry, and he'saveraging nineteen and ten on the season.
He finished with eighteen and six today. Well, if the Clippers don't have
that second center, they don't havethat second big body, they're not restricting
(03:20):
DeAndre Ayton and Biambo and even Landellewho had a big game early this season
against the Clippers because they just didn'thave the size. Well now they do.
And not only do they have thesize, they have a skilled big
man too. We saw it withPlumbly, We've seen it with Zubots.
I think Zobots is showing more andmore of just how well rounded of a
player he is on both ends ofthe floor. So exciting to see his
continued growth. And now I'm lookingforward to seeing what the two of them
(03:44):
can do together with a little extrapractice time, not just during All Star
Break, but then in the secondhalf of the season, where the Clippers
only have twenty one games spread wayout over the course of the last couple
months, A spread formation will dothem some good. Last one for you
here, Noah Kawhi Leonard started offthe ball game oh for nine. Didn't
get his first points to the fiveminute mark of the third quarter, but
(04:05):
he picked up that could be turnedover by Paul George Lade put it in
plus the and one. The closerwas there late. He's like State Farm
in so many ways. He's likea good neighbor. You know, he's
always there or all State. You'rejust in good hands when you've got Kawhi
in there, or Pedro Serranto fromMajor League. I still don't know,
but I do know this. WhenKawhi Leonard saw a couple of those free
(04:28):
throws go down, let's not forgethe started this game, what Adam over
nine over ten. Yeah, sohis last eight or so shot attempts all
went. He went five of eight, I mean six or six from the
free throw line. That was aKawhi Leonard performance. And you mentioned it
five minutes to go in the thirdswhen he got his last his first point.
So in the final seventeen minutes ofthis game, in which he only
played about eleven ten minutes of it, he had sixteen points. That's Kawhi
(04:54):
Leonard. So yeah, the onething that you can always say about him,
there's a lot of guys around theleague who they just know they don't
have it. They say, Idon't have it, I gotta I gotta
defer. Not him. He's gonnakeep attacking. And that's what you want
out of your number one, youralpha dog, your superstar on both sides
of the floor. I think heproved that once again to day sixteen points,
nine boards, four assist, ablocking the steel thirty six minutes and
(05:15):
he never quite quit. He justalways attacks. Even before the shots started
falling, he was still playing elitedefense on the other end. Clippers hold
the Suns one hundred and seven pointsin Phoenix, they win one sixteen to
one oh seven. They're heading intothe All Star break in the four spot
in the West. Now, Noah, you're a superstitious guy. You drink
a protein drink and the Clippers geta big victory. Rest of the year.
(05:40):
Two grams and all forty two ofthem, All of them went down
smooth. I don't know. MaybeI'm gonna have to join the hype train.
I don't know. Well, we'llbe back together Friday, the twenty
fourth. Clippers taken on the gigs. Oh Adam, enjoy your break,
Enjoy wherever you may be, whereverthe wind takes you, and I'll leave
you with one thing and one thingonly can't wait. Coming up next,
(06:03):
second half highlights. Clippers win onesixteen to one oh seven and Phoenix over
the Suns, and that completes thepre All Star break. All right,
coming up next, we got secondhalf highlights right here on the Los Angeles
Clippers Radio Network. Hind I gotup on my right side. Some goods
(06:24):

good. Welcome back into your postgame show. I'm at a moslan to

let's get to your second half highlights. Clippers Lad at the half by two

first half. He would duplicate thatin the third quarter alone Man driving middle

three and a half to go onthe third is third three of the night
Terrence Man with eleven points in thethird quarter. Kawhi Leonard was scoreless until
the five minute mark of the thirdquarter. Scoreless in the ball game,
but he started to take over downthe stretch. Leonard into the front quarter,
attacking on eight and once again,Leonard pulls it back for a ten
foot fade away and that falls onthe four side again. All Kawai needs
(08:15):
is to see it go through seventynine seventy six, three fifty to play
third quarter, He'll move it fromright to left with the Clippers up by
five, into the front court.Leonard on the right wing office screen to
his right, drives baseline is bump, puts it up, puts it in,
count it in a foul for Kawai. Leonard on the right wing drive
in middle right elbow pull up andhe responds Kawai now with nine eighty seven
(08:37):
seventy nine Kawhi Leonard also at elevenpoints in that third quarter. Clippers led
after three ninety one to eighty four. In the fourth, Paul George was
taken over. George faced up jumperfrom eighteen it's true over a kogie Pg

his grasp and hands it off.Now for George, drive into his left.
(09:00):

hand PG thirteen, twenty points nineninety one La back to George right link
down the right alley. George witha basket up and under reverse lay up
goes twenty four for George one Ofive ninety eight. Four and a half
to play. Jordan gets it intop of the key. George drives down
(09:20):
the left alley, pulls up leftelbow and hit the jay PG thirteen,
smooth operator one O nine one hundredClippers twenty six for George, two fifty
to play. Kawhi Leonard would capthings off with an in one play,
but Paul George with ten of histwenty six points there in the fourth Clippers
(09:41):
win one sixteen to one oh sevenin Phoenix over the Suns. Coming up
next, oh preview a game that'sover a week from now. We're looking
for post game audio two from thehead coach and the players. Clippers in
the fourth spot at the All Starbreak in the Western Conference after everything that's
train haspired so far this season. There's sixty one games in now, it's
(10:03):
twenty one left to play. You'relistening to the Los Angeles Clippers radio network.
Just one I can get enough, and every time I've up in the
fielding, everybody go up. Clippersone one sixteen and one seven, one
(10:28):
oh seven over the Phoenix Suns inthe Valley. To complete, I want
to say the first half of theseason, but a little more. Note
the do't have twenty five percent ofthis season left, just twenty one games
left now, but they're in thefourth spot in the West, in a
good position after getting a big victoryover the Suns. Clippers next ball game
(10:50):
coming up next Friday, that's twentyfourth, when they're hosting the Sacramento Kings.
First two games out of the gatepost All Star Break. Eight Kings
in Denver Nuggets. Now it's gonnabe easy. King's right in front of
them in that three spot in theWest. Before we get out of here,

sun has set on the first halfof the NBA season as we enter into

the All Star break. Is theClippers do so in style with a one
sixteen one oh seven victory over thePhoenix Suns. Welcome into your postgame show.
This is Clippers Talk. I'm AdamOslin eight six six nine eight seven
two five seventy eight six six nineeight seven two five seventy coming up your
phone calls, Plus Charles Mockler fromClips and Dip will be here looking for
(12:45):
postgame audio from Coach Low and theplayers. The Clippers are embedded in that
four spot for now. But whata good place to be after everything they've
been through so far this season, where at one point they had lost six
straight and they just had a tonof roster turnover and so far the three
players that they have brought in hadpaid dividends their last two games now beating
(13:09):
the Warriors, beating the Phoenix Suns, who they just sleep frogged over to
get into the fourth spot in theWest. Now Phoenix is still waiting for
Kevin Durant to come back. Andthat was the biggest move so far during
the year, one of the biggestmoves we've seen in years. Actually,
can't really undersell that, biggest movethey've had for their franchise since bringing in
(13:31):
Charles Barkley. But meanwhile, theClippers, this was one of their more
laser focused games we've seen this year, especially in the second half, where
I thought they might have had theirbest fourth quarter of the season, where
they continued to execute, just methodicalwith guys getting some good looks, Paul
(13:54):
George having ten of his twenty sixand the fourth quarter Kawhi Leonard having a
big throw down and then the andone shot he made to put the Cherry
on top after Paul George had lostthe basketball with fifty seven seconds left to
put it out of reach at onesixteen, one oh seven. Your final
in a game where Kawhi Leonard startsover nine and doesn't score until the five
(14:16):
minute mark of the third quarter, unbelievable. I'm guessing I'm trying to see
when he came back in in thefourth it was around the seven minute mark.
Yes, yes, it was exactlyat seven minutes, so it makes
the math easy. So that meansin the last twelve minutes of game time
(14:37):
where he was out there on thecourt, Kawhi Leonard had sixteen points after
starting zero of nine. He wouldthen hit five of his next nine that
he took finished five of eighteen Ofive from the outside, doesn't matter.
He gets ten boards, four assists, a couple of blocks of steal.
The defense was elite. Devin Bookerended up with nineteen points on six of
(15:01):
seventeen shooting. Chris Paul, herold friend had was two of eight with
five points, still had eleven assists, but those two guys were held down
and DeAndre Aiden, I thought, got handily dominated by Vizza Zubots for the
most part. Mason Plumbly a littlebit too, but big Zoo with twelve
(15:24):
boards, six offensive rebounds, Eightenwith just six boards total zero offensive rebounds,
give it up to a Vizza Zubots. I want to say he had
eleven of his twelve boards in thefirst half, ended up with thirteen and
twelve. Had a great feed insidethe terraces man who was probably the player
of the game. If it's notPaul George because he matched PG thirteen with
(15:48):
twenty six points, but on justtwelve shots, ten of twelve from the
field. He had eleven of thosepoints in the third quarter. Was aggressive
every time out, either getting tothe basket or not thinking about it when
he was putting them up from distancewhere he went three for four. That
was playing with purpose out there.I thought his energy and his intensity helped
(16:11):
carry this team. They needed TerrenceMan in a game like this. He
plays thirty five minutes. You canalways have a foot out the door going
into the All Star Break and letone slip. The Clippers couldn't afford to
have that happen. They needed totake some good momentum into the break.
We'll see if it carries over. They're taking on the Kings in their first
(16:32):
game out of it next Friday, and then the Denver Nuggets. But some
great signs already, great returns, early returns from Plumley, Eric Gordon,
and Bones Highland, who hit atough floater, hit a three pointer in
this one, did have three turnovers, struggle a little bit more in sixteen
minutes. Eric Gordon, though hehit a thirty foot steph curry Land three
(16:57):
pointer, hit another one, gotto the basket for an and one,
and then once again created a steallate off an inbounds pass that eventually I
think ended And I sure if thatwas a Paul George jumper or if that
was Kawhi Leonard who had a thunderoustwo handed dunk in the last two minutes
(17:18):
of the ball game two. Butso many guys played well, and I
thought superstars in terms of Paul Georgeand Kawhi Leonard when they needed them in
that fourth quarter, Kawhi with fivepoints, Paul George would ten and was
so steady throughout the fourth and justaggressive. PG thirteen is the best.
PG thirteen when he's coming out oftimeouts and firing and not thinking about it
(17:41):
and getting up good looks over multipledefenders. It doesn't matter he's six nine,
he can rise above him. Loveseeing that the play though, where
he ended up on the floor aftercreating a steal and a jump ball against
CP three that he would win hugeafter the Clippers had just had three straight
(18:02):
turnovers. He thought, oh,here comes another fourth quarter collapse. Clippers
weren't having it. They stayed lockedin. Terrence Man would get a lay
up that next play, Zoo nexttime down gets a foul on Booker,
and then Paul George has that toughFalloway over multiple defenders. The Kawhi dunk,
a man lay up off a greatfeed from Zoo, the Gordon steel
(18:23):
and then it was PG losing thebasketball. Looked like he got fouled by
CB three by the way, hecertainly warnted. And then Kawahi picked it
up. Look what I found.Drew the foul and hit a tough leaner.
Just a great way to head intothe All Star Break for the Clippers.
Can't ask for much better than thisone. Sixteen one oh seven your
(18:45):
final in Phoenix. While we havea moment before we get to your phone
calls, let's pause ten seconds forstation identification. Here on seventy l A
Sports, this is LA Clippers BasketballKLAC Los Angeles seven k HD to Los
Angeles, an iHeart radio station,James in Utah, your first up tonight
(19:07):
on Clipper Stock. Hey, howyou doing, ad. I'm glad to
see you're doing better after missing Chipsand Jip I missed you, Thanks,
my friend. I'll be back onwith those guys soon. Awesome. I
wanted to bring up two things. One you brought up last week and I
brought up last time. I wason about how we need to be able
to pick up Leonard when he's notin you know, terminator mode, which
(19:33):
is exactly how we are tonight. And I feel like we have a team
that can do that now and letPaul Jordan's do what he does best.
And then plumbly, I think it'sso big for us in the second unit
because now we play the same wayas when Zubos is there, instead of
having to adjust to playing small ornot having that having that big man in
(19:56):
the middle, you have to changethe way you play d you have to
change the way you play offense. And it just feels like the second unit
knows now we have a big manin the back, we can you know,
they know how to like rotate onthe defense defensive end, and know
how to play on the offensive winas well. Yeah, I agree with
you, Josh Mason Plumley start thingsoff with that big block in the first
(20:18):
quarter. Then he had a driveand kick out to Bones for a three
pointer. It almost looked like ano look pass. Second quarter went to
work in the pain immediately drew afoul, went to the basket for a
layup, and then that reverse layuphe had that was tough in the fourth
quarter where he also brought it upthe court and did a little sham god
CP three like a tripling move.I asked on Twitter, I wonder like
(20:41):
if with Bones Highland, if HotSauce is his favorite player? Was his
favorite player growing up as well fromthe N one Mixtape tour. Because Mason
Plumley showed it all off, thewell rounded game in this one. It
is just a site for sore eyesto have a really season traditional backup that's
also a very good passer on ateam that doesn't have a traditional point guard.
(21:02):
But when you have someone like MasonPlumley out there who was averaging four
assist per game in January, that'shuge. Was keeping the ball hopping definitely,
Josh pre stay the phone call. We'll talk to you after the break,
my friend. Let's get you Raouland Baldwin Park before we break here.
Raoul, what's up? You're on? Clipper stop with that. I'im
awesome. No, don't matter, what's good? Raoul? Heymy oh,
(21:26):
it's all good. It's it's alwaysgood. News when I'm when I'm working
here in that here Clipper victory, yes sir, and yeah what a what
a? What's? What's that's agood team team win? No, no,
no, Norman, no problem.Eg stepped up, Jimmy Bones Highland
(21:48):
stepped up, and team man,you gotta give him tops and marin this
this this Clipper team. You gotsome mut too, if you think about
it. Got Brandon Boston zoos onlythat twenties early twenties is like a veteran.
But he's like I was like twentythree years old or somebody. Oh
he looks like nineteen. Yeah.So all I have to say is that
(22:10):
the Clippers lead the SmackDown on thePhoenix Suns. Candy Asses not sue for
me. That's all I'm saying.Later for how old I appreciate it.
Eight six six nine eight seven twofive seventy eight six six nine eight seven
two five seventy. Big Zoo wasso good in this game. But he
had a tip in in the thirdquarter on a PG miss a hook over
(22:32):
Eighten. He broke up a lobto DeAndre Eighten from CP three, and
it made me think of the Valleyoop. And this time Big Zoo was
able to get in front of itand knock it away. But the way
he cleared the boards in this one, the physicality. You can see a
lot of guys just getting that shotin the arm that second win, because
(22:53):
I think they see how productive theguys they brought in are. When Big
Zoo does have to play over thirtyminutes, and I think he was at
twenty nine in this one. BecauseMason Plumbly can come in and give you
a strong eighteen minutes where he wasa plus nine out there, that changes
things. It just adds a littlebit more energy to your shift when you're
(23:15):
out there, knowing that you gota guy that can cover for you when
you got to hit the bench. All right, speaking of we will do
that. Be back in a coupleof minutes here eight six sixty ninety eight
seven two five seventy eight six sixtyninety seven two five seventy. If you're
on hold, stay there, we'llget to you. A Clippers win one
sixteen to one on seven over theSuns and you're listening to Clippers topam by
seventy Boss asked me how I failsuccessful street touching the first mails? All
(23:41):
my life now was gone up.Clippers winning one sixteen to one O seven
in Phoenix over the Suns. Welcomeback into Clipper stock. I'm out of
(24:03):
Moslem eight six six ninety eight seventwo five seventy eight six six nine eight
seven two five seventy All Star breakcouldn't come in a better time. If
you can hear the hoarseness and docrivers like voice I have tonight, Clippers
get the victory heading into the AllStar Break, They're in the fourth spot.
Phoenix was a game or a halfgame up on them coming into this
(24:23):
one. Clippers now a half gameup on them and just a game back
of the Sacramento Kings in that threespot. Let me tell you you want
the three spot in the West. Why because that means you could avoid playing
not just Denver in the second round, but the Phoenix Suns in the first
(24:45):
round. Who could be in thatfour five matchup. You don't want to
have to play both of them andit runs of the finals. That makes
it all the much more difficult pathof least resistance. Remember that, Sean
and Inglewood, you are Clipper.Stop with that. I'm awesome. Sean,
Hey Anama, buddy, how areyou I'm good, Sean, how
(25:06):
are you? I'm okay. Igot about four really good points to bring
out. I'll be the judge ofthat, all right. But anyway,
I don't know if anybody if yourewind their first quarter, DeAndre Abel was
riding Zoo's back. He must havefollowed him about four times, agree,
(25:27):
and Zoo kept his composure and hada good game. So I appreciate that
out of Zoo. The second thingis that the Clippers are more north and
south now. They're not like somebodydribbling around and dribbling around. And I
don't think I saw one stand stillthree pointer at the end of the shot
(25:48):
clock like we were getting out ofReady Jackson a lot. You know who
led them and assist in this gamewas seven, Sean. Do you want
to take a guess? Don't belooking at the box score. No,
I'm not looking. I'm not looking. Let me think zoom. Eric Gordon.
Eric Gordon was seven assists in twentysix minutes. But he's someone zero
(26:10):
turnovers, by the way, whogets into the paint and it's just a
bully in there. For his size, he moves bodies. He's a mini
tank and he's able to start thatdrive kick out and the Clippers ended up
only eleven or thirty four from threeafter starting off hot from there. But
I love what Eric Gordon breaks tothis team. And that's a segue to
(26:33):
something else. I was gonna say. He died up Booker book six to
sixteen. He played a great defenseon Devin Booker, who he had nineteen.
That's about as quiet of nineteen pointsas you could have one of six
from the outside. Yeah, Andthe thing they won the game without much
of a contribution from Moors but Tuneand of course Powell wasn't even there.
(26:57):
And those are three of your majorcontributors that you usually get. And we
know who Phoenix is missing. Butyou know, I'm not going to have
pity on a team that wants togo super team and bring Kevin Durant and
then doesn't have him, and youknow says, oh, well we didn't
have Kevin Durant, you still hadyour big three out there and CP three
Devin Booker deadre eight. That stillis formidable, right, And that's the
(27:22):
segue to my other point. AKogi went crazy, so he actually was
the points that they would have gotfrom Kevin Durant. They got from a
kokee anyway. I don't know hetotally made up for it, but six
three pointers was a career high forhim. He had twenty four. It
was something right, that was partof it. So I mean, no,
they played a good game against areally good team, and that's you
(27:45):
know, they're gonna have to keepdoing it because the schedule now, they're
gonna pay all the good teams now, so you know they have the depth
now. I like it, andI just hope I see more improvements.
And you know, I'm what doyou think a big plumb? You love
big man, big plum. Okay, I'm a guy. Have to say
(28:07):
this because the other night nor Eaglessaid in the pregame, Hey Adam,
we really needed a big man.You didn't say anything, but when I
used to say it, you usedto get it on me all the time.
And oh, you know two yearsago when they put the small guy
in against U. I've said amillion times this season, the biggest lock
at the trade deadline is that theClippers get a back up big I've never
(28:32):
heard you say that, but okay, I'll give you credit for it if
you did, And I really Iappreciate plumb Lee. I kind of wanted
more bumbled, but I do seesome of the other things that Plumbly can
do that I didn't see before,So I like them. You know.
I'm glad we have a board aboutit. But whatever, Okay, all
(28:52):
right, Sean, I appreciate thephone call, my friend. I appreciate
you, my friend. We'll talkto you after the All Star break,
all right, absolutely, that way. Javier and Lahabra heights from one regular
to another. Javier, what's up? What's up? Bad? I'm thank
you for taking my call. Ithink this is one of the biggest wins.
I know, you know through theseats that you say, all this
(29:15):
big game or there's a good win, but this one before the All Star
break, especially against Phoenix at theirat their stadium. I mean that's at
their arena. Sorry, it's abig win. I mean. And then,
like you said, they have Sacramentoafter the All Star break, so
they could caring him up to thethirst spot. And that's just telling you
(29:37):
you need the three spot. Youdo not want to be in the four
or five matchup. What you wantis to send Phoenix there so they end
up having to play the winner ofthe one eight matchup in the second round,
which will likely be the Denver Nuggets, and one of those teams get
taken out. Yeah, now you'reyou're right about that. Now, A
couple of things for the key ofthis game. Number one, real quick
(30:00):
Terrence Mann would he had twenty twentytwenty six points, so he took some
of the slack off Norman Pale,so that was huge. Number two is
the turnovers. The second quarter.I couldn't believe those, what three turnovers
in a minute, But in thesecond half, I believe they had the
(30:21):
Clippers only have like, what fourturnovers in the second half they had five,
but they were much better. Theydid have three straight at one point,
including one after a time out inthe fourth quarter. Or it looked
like they could unravel here. Butthey had some awful ones. The one
from the tomb on the inbounds classto Paul George who wasn't looking, was
just inexcusable in the second quarter.Yeah for a minute, I'm like,
(30:45):
oh my god, what's going onhere? But that was huge. And
the last thing is during the stretchAaron Gordon was planning for for Marcus Morris.
I mean that was big too.I mean you called it a her
gender pre game and say, oh, Marks Morris has to have a good
game, blah blah blah, thegames he's gonna have at the game.
(31:07):
But I've been telling you all ayear. You know, he had four
points, but it just you know, he didn't have a great game,
picked up a technical too, gotinto foul trouble. Yeah, but it's
a good thing you have Eric Gordonto pick you up. Yeah, you're
right, You're right. So blastthing is a normal power, real quick,
it's just something minor. Right,he'll be he'll be back in the
(31:30):
back in the game after the astarbreak, Right, that's the hope.
I don't know the extent of it, but I think it's the same right
knee injury he's been dealing with alittle bit going back to January. I
think he heard it again in agame against Utah where he had thirty.
So I'm not overly concerned about it. And I see the logic of we
(31:52):
can give him even more extended restbecause the All Star Games coming up.
Yeah, you've got an opportunity toget some of these other guys more run,
like Eric Gordon, who you justbrought in. Yeah, you're right,
So, so you've got to getthat win against Seacramento after the All
Star Thanks hap here, we'll talkto you after the All Star break before
(32:13):
will you break Lenny in Inglewood? What's up? Listen? A good game
tonight, Because when I found outignoring problem wasn't wasn't playing, I wasn't
even next time about watching the gamesof the fourth quarter because just I just
I'm just saying, I'm just Ilike what he does. Man, we
(32:34):
all do. He should be thesixth of the year. There's no question
about it. Right now. Nobody'sscored more points off the bench since early
November. Nope, And he's right, he's the most he's gotta be the
most efficient score in the NBA systemsince since January two. I just,
like I said, I just don'tsee nobody he canna do. Who can
put it the kind of points hedoes, with the kind of shops and
(32:54):
dudes pull up twenty seven points onthem levin shops to all stop him?
You don't you don't care about that, man? But okay, so Mace,
you know, the big man thingwas a dressed and I'm glad,
but it wasn't just a big man. It was an athletic big man.
That's what you have with Mason Plumber. You gotta have somebody can move the
(33:15):
seat, because we know these bigmen can move. And they tell me
these guys like the pop up andtake the three. Eric Gordon, you
know he he's not as a reliabledeep ball shooter as uh, you know
Luke when he gets going, buthe brings so many other things to the
game. And like you said, when he when right around the playoffs,
(33:37):
he's gonna begin hitting them them deepthrees and he's gonna give us a couple
of twenty points. And he's justtalking about he has less holes in this
game than Luke Kennard, who Ilove and I think he's he's gonna do
big things in Memphis, no doubt, no doubt. And uh, but
the defense that Eric brings to thegame, Luke r. It's not Guarden
(34:00):
Devin Booker like Eron Gore did tonight. No no. And he's got that
big body and he puts that wasteon you man, all those things common
man, da man. When youwhen you got some like you kids trying
to get the name and gets hisshot and he gets that bump, you
know with that body is that thatcountistry. But the one thing that I
don't hear you saying, and Iknow we can't say because I hear yet,
but we're talking about chemistry, man, and we're talking about bringing in
(34:23):
Westbrook. I just don't doubt thatthat means we talk. I mean,
we were gonna take minutes away fromMan. I mean, I don't,
I don't. I don't know what'shappened with the front office. I mean,
I know he's a he's a buyoutprospect, but right now, to
me, chemistry is key. Weknow what Westbrook does with chemistry. He's
(34:46):
a he's a fantastic athlete. Butwe know what this dude can do if
he doesn't feel he's getting the playthat he wants. So I don't know
how this is gonna work. ButI just hope the clips, you know,
really really weigh it out, becausethe most important thing going from right
now is chemistry, and which yougot Man getting his confidence coming around.
(35:09):
That dude's needs his touches, heneeds his minutes, and he needs his
rhythm. So you can take itfrom there, all right, Lenny,
I appreciate it. It's amazing tothink about Terrence Man getting dnps earlier in
the season, and now he's yourstarting point guard. And I thought Paul
George took him home with those tenpoints in the fourth, and Kawhi hit
(35:32):
some big ones late too. ButTerrence Man was the best player for the
majority of this ballgame for the Clipperstonight, and just the spirit that he
plays with. I've told you thisbefore, but Patrick Beverlely used to turn
a regular season game into a playoffgame with his intensity, and I think
(35:52):
Terrence Man has picked up on someof that. I was one of his
mentors and he's brought it now.Clippers win one sixteen to one oh seven.
Coming up next break, we'll haveCharles Mackler on from clips in dip
here on Clippers Talk on five seventyonly Sports. Yeah, hey here records
(36:13):
timmo did yap would not get thememo. I do nest they had to
cut last time. That's fun away to go into the break, said
toa schlewis he head to the postgame podium after the Clippers would win one
sixteen, one oh seven in Phoenixover the Suns. On that little blurb
(36:37):
from Andrew Griffe of the La Timeson Twitter, welcome back into Clippers Talk.
I'm out of Moslin. Eight sixsix nine eight seven two five seventy
is the phone number you hear themusic, you know what's up? Some
clips and double dip here with CharlesMockler joining us. Chuck, let me
ask you, is this the biggestvictory of the season. I thought it
might have been their best fourth quarterof the year, even though they only
(36:59):
scored twenty five. It felt morelike a playoff type of back and forth
fourth quarter where they just out executedPhoenix. Yeah. I think this is
maybe the win of the season forthe Clippers. We saw a really good
process through the whole game for themost part, and when the process wasn't
working, we saw justice from Tylouthat fixed it right. So Marcus Morris
(37:21):
Kotton, the foul trouble played nightteammates as soon as he was off the
floor, I hate to say it. And Terence Mann and some of these
others guys got some more playing times. Things look great. We got unbelievable
contributions from Mason Pumley and you know, Eric Gordon justin kind of all the
intangible ways that you want to seefrom you guys. And yeah, I
(37:42):
mean this just we got an elitegame from Paul George, we got a
slow start but a great close fromKawhi Leonard, and Terence Mann had his
best game of not his career obviouslywith the Clippers, but on this entire
season. So yeah, this isthe best way I feel great going in
as the fourth seed sawtar break Andif you're Phoenix, you gotta be kicking
yourself because not only do you giveup the four seed, they didn't have
(38:07):
Kawhi Leonard getting a shot down untilthe five minute mark of the third quarter.
The Suns have to be feeling likewe had to win that game.
For the Clippers to overcome that levelof ice cold from Kawhi Leonard that says
something. Well, I mean, the Sun's wasted a twenty four point forty
one minute performance from Josha Kogi. This was a game where usually the Clippers
(38:31):
lose one. No disrespect to aguy like Josha Coogi, who's very good,
but when he goes for twenty fouron a wildly efficient night, usually
it's one of those nights where itfeels like the Clippers are gonna lose.
But I mean, you know,Chris Paul couldn't really get anything going.
I know we had eleven assist buthe was a minus seventh overall. Zoo,
you know, does his best againsthim Like this felt great, you
(38:53):
know, even despite Kawai's horrific startfor this one. We were carried by
our role players, which is whatwe were told all year, and it
really took until the trade deadline toshore up some of the inefficiencies that Tylo
kept going with to get us toreally kick into the gear. Get what
we need, which is a legitimatebackup five and Mason Plumley, who might
(39:15):
be the best backup center in theleague. And then a guy like Eric
Gordon who plays good defense in bothThailand, who I only only played fifteen
minutes, but add a little sparkto just the whole thing. The roster
just feels so much more balanced now, and the second unit just looks so
much stronger with Mason Plumbly as theanchor, and even when he's playing with
the starters out there, he justlooks extremely comfortable already in just his second
(39:38):
game. But I did get acall about this. I wanted to ask
you, Chuck, with a gamelike this from Terrence Man getting twenty six
ten of twelve shooting. The RussellWestbrook rumors still out there and apparently the
Clippers are kicking the tires on thatsituation. To Corey Lamarra and sham Sharania,
where are you at with the possibilityof them bring and Ross? I
(40:01):
just don't think we need it.I don't know how you can watch a
game where Kawhi Leonard has a slowstart, he doesn't make us three,
Marcus Morris gets into foul trouble, you know, and even when that is
happening, it's not like if wehave Russell Westbrook that things would have gone
(40:21):
exceptionally better tonight or anything like that. He has a really bad assistant turnover
ratio, which is one thing he'dbe doing for this climberstie looking to distribute,
and it just someone's getting squeezed outif we add Russell Westbrook to a
team that's already getting DMPs from RobertCovington, Like, who are we squeezing
(40:43):
out of this rotation for Russell Westbrook. I know that it's only been two
games with the trade death pipe.Sure, maybe it's bones Highland, but
do you want Russell Westbrook playing sixteenminutes to night on this team and if
law Murray what he wrote today theClippers Russell Westbrook is maybe a starter,
not a closer, but the ideathat a contender would bring in Russell Westbrook
(41:04):
to start. I just I thinkif you frame it like that, you
have to you kind of have tosay, what are we doing here?
And interesting, tough decisions to bemade, no doubt. But until then,
I love this game from Paul George. I know he had a couple
of bad turnovers five assists of fourturnovers, but he played angry at times.
(41:25):
It looked like I think the matchupagainst CP three may have brought out
the best in him ever since hecrossed Chris Paul into the underground world or
whatever in the Western Conference finals. But getting on the floor for that steal
and the jump ball, and thenhaving ten points in the fourth quarter alone,
sticking some tough jumpers, having atough reverse layup. I just love
(41:46):
the grittiness in his play tonight well, and you love to see him score
in the paint. Right in thefirst half, I think he might have
only had one attempt on the paint. In the second half, he started
being more aggressive with his drive andthat's when we saw good things happening,
and we got through the free fromline. You know, only a couple
of times, but in Paul George'sworld, that's quite a bit, even
(42:06):
how the rest call it. ButI was really impressed with the second half.
It almost felt like I'd send thison Twitter, but it almost felt
like he was like he didn't playangry, but it was almost like he
was angry at himself and he hadto get himself up to like tell himself
that he can still be this guywho can and should score twenty six a
night for the Clipper. So Imean, yeah, this is a great
(42:30):
way to end it. I can'timagine this game going andy better from the
clips. You know, maybe Kawhiscores twenty and we went by ten more
points. But this was a fantasticway to go out, especially being led
by Terence Man and you know, two on three, I'd rather see it
like this. Honestly, I thinkyou learn more from a game like this
where Kawhi doesn't have it going PaulGeorge has to step up. Terrence Man,
(42:51):
is that good? The new guysplayed fantastic basketball. I eats a
Zoo boss dominate in the post.I almost prefer them have to dig it
out, uh in a way whereit's not all going their way and they
still find a way to get avictory. I think that's big for this
team. But all right, Chuck, I appreciate you coming on tonight here
on Clips and double dip on Clippersstock my friend, of course, always
(43:14):
a good time. We'll talk sooncoming up next batch your phone calls eight
six six ninety seven, two fiveseventy eight six six nine eight seven two
five seventy. Clippers win one sixtyone oh seven Phoenix over the Suns.
Close things out before the All Starbreak coming next. The whole didn't turn
the kid a little bare down inthe low Keys. Clippers win one sixteen
(43:52):
and one oh seven in Phoenix overthe Suns. The next game coming up
a long time from I don't knowwhat he's taken on the sacrament of King's
hosting them next Friday twenty four Mike, last call before the All Star break,
Adam, Thank you, Adam. All right, I was just calling
(44:15):
to say, you know, tome, the buyout market answer is easy
and obvious, and as Patrick Beverley, he will to use a Star Wars
phrase complete Terrence Man's training. Therewill be a great influence on the younger
players on Bones Highland. I'm BrandonBoston, Moussa, Jason Preston, and
(44:35):
just it just seems to me likehe fits in, like he's the perfect
addition to this team. At thispoint, you're talking about team man,
what do you think? No,I'm talking about Patrick. I'm saying Patrick
Beverley. I'm the buyout market. You want Patrick Beverley in back in?
I want, I want. Iwant to bring Pat home. I want
to bring Pat Beverley back where hebelongs to Good for your home, I
(44:59):
get it. He he is belovedstill with Clipper fans. I'm a big
fan of Patrick Beverly as well.We will see, all right, one
more call before we got out ofhere. Wild card line, Paul,
you're on Clipper Stock, You're onMan, that's you. It's you Man.
(45:20):
We'll try to screen it here forone second. But Patrick Beverley is
out there. Obviously, he isan all time favorite and we'll remain one
regardless of the Clippers pick him upor not. But they have decisions to
make. We'll see where they gofrom here, whether it's Russell Westbrook or
Pat Bev as we head into theAll Star break. But the good news
(45:44):
is the Clippers are in the fourthspot. After everything that has transpired so
far this season, they faced aton of adversity. Kawhi miss is twenty
of the first twenty five games, ends up getting back to right where he
was pre acl tear. Paul Georgemisses a dozen games games the trade deadline
comes. It's tough to see someguys go. But the guys who came
(46:05):
in have certainly performed at a highlevel, including tonight with their one sixteen,
one oh seven victory in Phoenix overthe Suns. Before we get out
of here again, we'll be offwith you guys till Friday. The twenty
fourth Clippers back home, taken onthe Sacramento Kings a battle for the three
spot. But I do want tothank the Clippers organization. Noah Eagle,
(46:28):
Brian Seman, Ralph Lawlor, bigbrother, Jake Morner, head engineer,
producer, Katie Newton back here intobank, the callers, the listeners.
I'm Adam Osland Datia. In alittle over a week is the Clippers have
completed not the first half of theseason. There's seventy five percent of the
season. There's just twenty one gamesleft now down the stretch. They come
(46:50):
Tatia next Friday. This has beenClippers Talk, a postgame conversation about your
