(00:22):
Adam Mossley. The Age of Manis upon us. After Terrence Man goes
for his season high of twenty threepoints and the Clippers beat Doc Rivers Sixers
Team one twenty two to one twelve, Welcome into Clippers Talk. I'm Adam
Oslin to eight six six nine eightseven two five seventy eight sixty six nine
(00:43):
eight seven two five seventy is thephone number coming up here on the show.
You'll hear from t Man post game. You'll also hear from the head
coach, Tlu Lucas hand from twoone three hoops will be here for analysis.
Terrence Man. This has been buildingfor some time now. He's been
playing well for about a month anda half. Whenever Patrick Beverly has been
(01:04):
hurt this season, it feels likeTerrence Man has stepped up his game.
But to start this one eight ofeight from the field just like Luke Kennard
finished a game in that fashion.Recently, Terrence Man was unbelievable, finished
with twenty three points. Finish isgoing ten of twelve from the floor.
But it's the variety of the wayhe's scoring out there, went two of
(01:26):
two from distance. It wasn't justthrowdowns, and he did have a big
one in the fourth quarter. Itwasn't just layups, and he had a
few of those two getting out intransition. Clippers had twelve fast break points.
I want to say he was responsiblefor about seven of those. But
the Clippers did score fifty four pointsin the paint. They only took twenty
(01:47):
six three pointers. As Noah Eaglepointed out, they took one more free
throw then three pointer attempted tonight.I don't know if that's happened all season
long. Clippers got to the freethrow line twenty seven times. It's been
a point of emphasis. Continue toattack. Terrence Mann helps provide that.
He gets in transition. He playsdownhill, he plays with pace out there.
(02:08):
But also it's Kawhi Leonard and PaulGeorge being relentless with their paint attack
actions now because they've been going atwill at the rim. Even if they're
not getting coals, they continue toattack the paint. Tonight they did though.
Their aggressiveness paid off. Paul Georgegot to the free throw line seven
(02:30):
times, went seven for seven.Kawhi Leonard got there eleven times, went
nine for eleven, PG thirteen finishedwith twenty four points. Kawhi Leonard finished
with twenty eight and four assists. But I'll say this, Paul George had
nine assists, led them in thatarea. He had three assists early on
in the third quarter when the Clippersreally started to open things up. They
(02:52):
were up by five at the half. They came out and started the third
on a seven oh run and itwas Kawhi Leonard finding I didn't want to
say, Reggie Jackson for an outletpass for an easy one, and then
Reggie hit a three pointer. Hehad five of those seven points on that
seven oh run. Reggie Jackson hadseven of his twelve points in the third
quarter. And the Clippers continue topour it on. Remember early on the
(03:15):
season when they were starting to havetrouble or where they were having trouble putting
teams away. No longer. Rightnow, it looks like they can go
pedal to the medal and put anyteam away, even a team as good
as the Philadelphia seventy six ers. They were nine and one in their last
ten games coming into this one. They were atop the Eastern Conference and they
(03:38):
have the most comebacks in the leaguethis season at ten. And the thing
that I loved the most was whenthey were up by as many as nineteen
in the fourth quarter. It gotdown to fifteen within about thirty seconds and
coach lou who's had a sense ofurgency all season long, quickly called a
time out. He wasn't having it. There was some lack luster defense for
(03:59):
a possess, not a lot ofit throughout the game, but he's going
for perfection. This is a teamthat's trying to build good habits, good
traits, championship traits, stuff that'sgoing to help them in the playoffs,
and they're starting to do so.They've won five in a row. Now,
even more impressively, they've done itwithout Sergebacca or Patrick Beverley. A
(04:19):
Bezza Zubos feed the beast. Thebeast was unleashed again. He had another
block leading to an easy outlet pass, and I want to say it was
Nicholas Button getting it done in transition. Not this time. That happened the
other night. Man Terrence Man wasthe one. Sam z helped me with
this one. Sam Zia our technicalproducer back here. If you're the one
(04:41):
cutting the highlights, you often knowwho was the one on the receiving end
of a nice pass in transition, but defense leading to offense. Aviza Zubos
had eleven boards. I thought tonightwas that night he might go set a
new career high. When it cameto rebounding, he had five rebound in
the first five minutes of the game. He had a ton of offensive rebounds,
(05:04):
six of them. Even though hestruggled again with his own shot just
two of seven. He created extrapossessions. Because the Clippers were down by
ten in the first quarter, theygot down quick. They started this game
three of fourteen. They end upshooting fifty three percent from the field and
(05:24):
go eleven of twenty six from distance. That's forty two percent. So even
though they didn't get off to ahot start, the defense was there and
the offensive rebounding and the hustle playswere there. First it was a beat
to zoobots, and then in thatsecond quarter, you inject Terrence Man into
the lineup. He had eleven ofhis twenty three points in the second alone.
(05:46):
Kawhi Leonard had twelve points twelve ofhis twenty eight in the second.
He had nineteen points at the half. Welcome back. Kawhi Leonard misses one
game, doesn't miss a beat onceagain, had three throw downs. He's
had more dunks. I don't havea stat on this, but I'm pretty
sure the eye test is right. He's had more dunks this season already than
he had all of last year withthe Clippers. But it makes sense.
(06:08):
He's healthy, he's playing back tobacks. But the way he and Paul
George have taken that queue from tluin knowing that you have to attack that
getting the paint and spray it outtype of offense that we've seen all season
long. Now it's getting the paintand throw it down and get fouled or
(06:31):
getting easy lab force the issue bemore aggressive because typically in the playoffs,
that type of style of play getsrewarded. We've seen it the playoffs.
They let you get a little bitmore physical, but also if you're getting
into the paint over and over again, you're gonna get rewarded with free throws.
I know that third quarter was toughto watch. The Clippers got to
(06:54):
the line for eight attempts, thePhiladelphia seventy six Ers got there for sixteen,
and the Clippers still led by thirteenpoints headed into that fourth quarter.
So when they were able to defendwithout fouling, when they weren't turning it
over, which has been not much, they had just twelve but that's actually
(07:14):
above their season average. I wantto say now are right at it.
But since the All Star Break, coming into this game, they've been averaging
just ten point three turnovers per game. I want to say it was best
in the league defensively, all ofa sudden, they've been a top five
defense coming out of the All StarBreak and then beginning to the free throw
line and getting paint points more andmore often. That is critical moving forward.
(07:39):
Clippers win. They take down DocRivers in the Philadelphia seventy six Ers
one twenty two to one twelve, and their first game against their former coach,
And it was good to see Docat that tribute video. Hopefully it
happens again when there's an actual crowdthere. He deserves that standing ovation for
his seven years as the Clippers headcoach, but tlu right now pushing all
(08:03):
the right buttons for this team.Terrence Man is playing the best basketball of
his young career. He's a youngman. It's a young man's game.
And it's also helped the fact that, well, they played some back to
backs recently and they've won. Anyways, they're perfect and back to backs.
That second game of a back toback, they're eight and no. I
think part of the reason is youhave Terrence Man. You have a Vizza
zubots, young guys, young freshlegs, and Terrence Man has that bounce,
(08:30):
that energy that used to be missingwhenever Patrick Beverley wasn't playing that infectious
spirit and that passion out there.Terrence Man is getting it done now.
Clippers win by ten over the seventysix ers. Coming back, we'll get
to your phone calls. I gota couple to screen here. Eight six
six nine eight seven two five seventyeight six six nine eight seven two five
(08:50):
seventy is the phone number. Lucashand from two one three Hoops will also
join me. Clippers make it fivestraight. They're thirty one and sixty on
the season and you're listening to ClippersTalk here on AM five seventy LA Sports.
Clippers win one twenty two to onetwelve over the Philadelphia seventy six ers.
(09:15):
Welcome back into Clippers Talk. I'mout of Boslin to eight six six
nine eight seven two five seventy eightsix sixty nine eight seven two five seventies
still to come. Lucas hand willbe here. You'll hear from the head
coach this very segment. Terrence Mangoes for a season hights twenty three points,
his career highs twenty five. Hegot that in the bubble in their
final regular season bubble seating game.I believe it was against the OKC Thunder.
(09:39):
But the development, the rapid expeditydevelopment of Terrence Man has changed this
season. I believe, I trulybelieve that for the Clippers. He's a
big part of why they've been turningthe corner right now. After they couldn't
win back to back games for overa month, they've now won five straight.
(10:00):
And it's no coincidence that that islined up with Terrence Man and his
stellar play. And it's not justthe scoring, it's not just one thing
he does. He drew that chargeon Ben Simmons. He gives a great
effort defensively. Ben Simmons would foulout in this game. Dwight Howard got
ejected. There were multiple technicals thePhiladelphia seventy six ers. They're not used
to losing. Even without Joe LMB. They were nine and one in their
(10:22):
last ten games and atop the EasternConference. But Terrence Man had a ridiculous
pass underneath the basket to Nicholas Batoumfor an easy one. He had a
block to start the fourth quarter. He does a little bit of everything,
but it's the energy and it's thepassion that he plays with that I think
(10:43):
permeates throughout the team. It's somethingwe've seen over the years with Patrick Beverley,
and he's providing that same spark. Now, ooh, when Pat BEV
gets back, look out they're stillmissing him. In Sergebaka last game,
they didn't have both of them, plus Marcus Morris and Kawhi Leonard, and
they held the Spurs to eighty fivepoints. The defense, they've been a
(11:03):
top five defense coming out of theAll Star Break. This is why t
Lou was upset multiple times frustrated, understandably post game the last month and a
half. He knew what this teamwas capable of. He got their attention,
and now they're pointed in the rightdirection on that end. Let's go
to Tags and Walnut Tages here onClippers stop without aim awstome, Hey,
(11:28):
Adam. Before I ask him myquestion, I just wanted to say,
you know, it was hard tosee Lou Williams go because we all love,
you know, sweet Lou so much, and of course he did so
much. I'm sorry, of courseI'm with you. Yeah, he did
so much for his organization and itwas him. I mean, it was
when we traded Chris Paul, wegot Montres, Harold pat Bev and Lou
(11:50):
Williamson. That trio right there didso much during those years and helped bring
that culture and keep that culture ofgoing for the Clippers. And you know,
but hopefully one day, you know, Lewins can come back on the
Clippers and retire a Clipper. Ithink that would be really sweet. And
(12:11):
what do you want to say abouttonight's game? Yeah, and tonight's game,
I just I'm really amazed with thedefense the past few weeks. I
think that's what's kind of driving thesewins is their defense and other than that,
I was just kind of envisioning, what, how how's this lineup going
to go with Pat Bess been outand we got Rondo now, So I
(12:35):
was envisioning Rondo as a starter. And if you got Rondo as a starter,
Uh, you kind of want ReggieJackson to come off the bench like
Lou Williams did because I feel likeyou can kind of put up some points
in that similar manner. And ifyou do that, then where do you
bring Pat bev and and then it'sCanard back at the rotation again. When
(12:56):
Terrence Mann playing so well, Ijust kind of was confused on how that
would all play out. Well, tags It's one of those good problems to
have because of the talent and guysemerging. And it's not just Terrence Man.
It's been the consistent play of Reggieaction Jackson two, who's been starting
without Patrick Beverley. Yeah, it'sgonna be tough to find minutes for guys
(13:18):
right now, but that's a goodthing because Coach Lew's gonna be able to
figure it out. Reggie Jackson's comingoff a game where he had twenty eight
points. He led them in scoringthe other night when they really needed a
scoring punch. Without four of theirfive starters, he had twelve points tonight
had seven of those on the thirdquarter. Makes energy plays as well.
(13:39):
They just keep the flow of theoffense going, and I think that also
aids their defense. I mean, when they're hitting shots, obviously they're better
defensively because you can get set onthat end. But the one thing that
t Lewis talked about and has encouragedhis team to do is even if you're
not hitting shots, you have toplay the same way all the time.
(14:03):
And that's been the difference during thisrun, whether whether they're hitting threes or
not. And there have been acouple of games where they've gone cold from
the outside, they continue to lockin defensively. But you're right with Terrence
Man playing like this. We'll seeLuke Nard played just seven minutes tonight.
We'll see if gen Rondo is goingto be a starter or not. But
(14:26):
obviously he's a floor general. Hecan help unlock the best version of this
offense at times when things do slowdown, especially in the half court in
the playoffs, Rondo's gonna help inthat area. Before we hear from the
head coach t lou Though, let'spause ten seconds for station and dentification.
Here on a five seventy l ASports, this is LA Clippers Basketball,
A five seventy KLAC Los Angeles, seven KYSR HD to Los Angeles, and
(14:50):
iHeart radio stations still to come,Lucas hand from two on three. Hoops
will be here. But the Clipperswin once twenty two to one twelve over
the Philadelphia seventy six Exers. Andhere was coach toront Loopol's game speaking with
the media. Hey, coach, congrats on the wind. And before before
the game, you were asked whata keyword for the rest of the season
with this team would be, andyou said, mindset. How do you
(15:13):
feel that the team's mindset was tonightin getting this victory? I thought it
was good, you know they youknow, Philly came out and jumped out
to an early lead, and youknow, we kept our composure. You
know, having Mike Scott the fivekind of put us in a tough situation.
Was zero with the five, butwe figured it out. You know,
we kept playing and like I said, our mindset was right. You
(15:33):
know, it was hard to getstops tonight because of when they played with
a small line of but I thoughtoffensively did a lot of great things,
attacking the paint, making the extrapass, making the play and you know,
having thirty points in the paint inthe first half. It was good
for us. Go to clodium.Hey Ti, congratulations on the wind.
When you look at when you lookat how Terrorice Men and Reggie Jackson played
(15:58):
tonight and in resenting games, howmuch will these steam depend on them going
for? They've been doing great, you know, I think you know,
Reggie, I might say, asolid Beshing point guard and Stepp ten and
has played well, you know everytime Pat Bev was out, So he's
been great for us. But teamMan's growth of just you know, each
game, you know, give himbetter and better and mis confidence is you
(16:19):
know through the roof right now,and he brings the energy and effort.
You know, he's making the shoutsand attacking the basket. You know,
we're totally different team. Thank you, Low You can go ahead. You
brought up before, how I can'thear you come on that? Hear me
(16:41):
now? Yeah it's a little better. Okay, Uh sorry, it's Nash.
Probably you brought up before how doctortold you if you wanted to coach,
you know, just hit him up, and you took him up on
that. And you know, Isee Jon Rondo tonight. You know he's
up. I can't. I can'thear. Yeah, Low, you're you're
(17:07):
pretty low. Uh. We'll comeback to if we can Low, We'll
go to Uh, We'll go toAndrew. I hope I'm not. I
hope I'm not seeing a lot ofquestion. I was just curious watching jan
on the sideline talking to Jeremy, talking to Chauncey. Uh. Even in
his first game, you talked abouthow smart he is and Lawrence called him
a savant. Is he giving youideas even in this first game for what
(17:32):
he's seeing. No, he wasjust asking a lot of question, you
know, as far as the playingcalls, and you know how what we
were running, what we were lookingfor, and just trying to stay engage.
It's just trying to get the playcalls, you know, that's what
he does. And Jevy was helpinghim a lot, you know, wanting
to some of the video I'm showingthem plays. And then a couple of
times I called a play, youknow with my mask, but I couldn't
really hear, so he was askingwhat was the play called. I'm just
trying to understand, you know, what we're looking for, what we're trying
(17:56):
to do offensively. There was coachlu post game after the Clippers win once
pointing to one twelve over the Philadelphiaseventy sixers. You know, Los Angeles
isn't necessarily the city of brotherly love. They didn't have to show any tonight
to the Philadelphia seventy six ers,who had won fourth straight, just like
the Clippers. Something had to give, and the Clippers have made it five
(18:18):
straight. Now you heard t Louthere talking about an inquisitive where gen Rondo
looking to learn, looking to absorb, and then looking to teach. You
know that's coming. He is abasketball savant. He's gonna help this team
in so many different ways. It'slayered. But remember what Kawhi Leonard said
last season after they lost in thatgame seven to the Denver Nuggets. We
(18:41):
gotta get smarter. Yeah, I'mgonna say they achieved that. Now.
Clippers arguably have the highest IQ nowin the league. They win once twenty
two to one twelve over the seventysix Ers. Coming up, Lucas hand
from two one three hoops will behere. We'll also have postgame audio from
Terrence Man. You're listening to Clipperstock. I'm at a Maslin and this
(19:02):
is a five seventy a sports staggeror foot Paul George. This is the
official home of your LA Clippers.Don't miss a moment of Clippers basketball all
season long. Clippers make it fivestraight. Yeah, they win one twenty
(19:33):
two to one twelve over the Philadelphiaseventy sixers. They're rolling right now.
They improved the thirty one and sixteen. They're sixteen and six at home.
That's a nice record to see becausetheir next eight or at home they get
to stay in Los Angeles and sleepin their own beds. And Terrence Man
had twenty three points tonight, wentfor a season high on ten of twelve
(19:56):
shooting. Clippers. They look likethe team that we saw right before the
original break in the hiatus last seasonin March, right around this time.
Actually, I think it was Marchtwelve or eleventh. But more on that
coming up, and more on theirschedule. They're playing the Milwaukee Bucks Monday
night. But before we get toany of that, including Terrence Man post
(20:18):
game sound let's get to my friendLucas Hand. I said it right at
two one three Hoops is where youcan find him. He is a great
Clippers analyst, has a huge presenceon Twitter. Follow him at Lucas Jay
Hand two ends on the end, just like Man's got two ends on the
end. Speaking of Lucas, let'sget into it. This young player.
(20:42):
And I know he spent four yearsin college and maybe that's part of this,
but it's the style of play thatthe Clippers needed from somebody and he's
been providing it now. But Idon't know if anyone could have seen this
level of development this quickly from thisyoung man out side of Jerry West,
who did identify him as somebody whocould help this team early on. But
(21:06):
what do you like most about TerrenceMan and the way he's progressed this season
leading to what we saw tonight.Well, I mean, there's so much
to like in terms of how heplays on both ends of the floor and
the confidence that he plays with. But the biggest thing I think, and
this isn't even necessarily has to dowith his overall quality of play, but
it's stylistically the extent to which hegets to the rim, forty one percent
(21:33):
of his shot attempts come within threefeet of the basket. The only rotation
player on the Clippers who has morethan that is a Vizzazubats And again forty
one percent of those shots within threefeet for Terrence Man. Third on the
Clippers is twenty four percent from Ibaka. No one else in the rotation is
above twenty percent. So he getsmore than double the percentage of his shot
attempts at the rim than any ofthe Clippers other non centers, and he
(21:56):
makes seventy two percent of them. He's super efficient in there. And we
talk a lot about this team. What do they not have? Right?
They have so much shooting, Theyhave so many good defenders that they can
switch around, even if they haven'tbeen a great defensive team this year.
What don't they have? It's thatguy who's going to beat someone off the
dribble, get to the rim, challenge and finish over a rim protector,
(22:18):
get to the free throw line, right And Terrence Man, you know,
increasingly as the season has gone on, has stepped into that role and filled
that void. And he's doing apretty good job of getting to the free
throw line as well. For youknow, for what the Clippers could possibly
hope for out of that those kindof bench minutes that he's playing. Clippers
win by ten over the Philadelphia seventysix ers. Lucas hann is my guest
(22:42):
here on Clippers Talk post game. So, because the caller asked about this
earlier, how do you see theminutes distribution being dealt out by head coach
tlu once Rondo fits into this lineup? Well, I think Rondo will more
or less play the minutes that LouWilliams was playing. So when Patrick Beverley
(23:04):
and Sergeibaka are back, I thinkyou'll have your starting lineup. I don't
know if Serger Zoo will start, but those guys will play all of the
center minutes, but Toom and Morriswill play all the power forward minutes.
Beverly and Rondo will play all ofthe or almost all of the point guard
minutes, and then with Kawhi Leonardand Paul George, who I don't know
(23:25):
how many backup minutes they are goingto be because the Clippers have been playing
some tight rotations recently, with Lousaying that he wants to kind of up
guys minutes and get them conditioned forthe playoffs, So it might kind of
be, you know, with Pauland Kawhi both playing thirty eight forty minutes,
Terrence might be the backup two andthe backup three and kind of get
those sixteen to twenty minutes at thatposition. There might not be minutes for
(23:48):
Reggie Jackson or Luke Kinnard when thisteam is at full strength. Lucas Hannah
is my guest here on Clippers Talkpost game. You bring up Kawhi Leonard
and Paul George there when Rondo isin playoff Rondo mode, and we saw
it last season and people say, well, it's because he was inside the
bubble, but we've seen this manytimes before. I thought his run with
the New Orleans Pelicans was extremely impressiveback in twenty eighteen. But what does
(24:14):
he do to help, I guess, just alleviate things with Kawhi Leonard and
Paul George. Do you think that'sthe main reason they brought in someone like
Jen Rondo to help out those guysand make life easier in big, clutch
time minutes in the playoffs. Well, I think what Luke said that he
hopes for from Rondo is that, right, now Kawai and PG have to
be the initiators of the Clippers plays, and what he wants is for maybe
(24:37):
someone else to be able to initiateso that Kawai and PG can be there
guys, you know, driving oncloseouts instead of the guys running that initial
picket roll. But you know,I don't know that Rondo necessarily helps you
significantly more in that category than LouWilliams did. What I do think is
he helps you a little bit morein that category than Patrick Beverley does at
(24:57):
that position while doing something that LouWilliams can't do, which is you can
trust or Gen Rondo defensively. Thatwas the big thing for me with Rondo
in the bubble for the Lakers wasnot his offense or you know, he
was shooting above his career average whatever, right, but it's the fact that
when they needed to kind of grindgames down in the fourth quarter, they
(25:19):
could put him on the floor atguard and he would be a part of
a lineup for them that dug inand that is where that Lakers team really
kind of established their championship quality brand. So for the Clippers, the biggest
thing that Rondo brings you I thinkis you know, Patrick Beverley picks up
his fourth foul early in the thirdquarter of a big game five in the
(25:40):
Western Conference Finals, Okay, well, you can put Rondo in for that
shift defensively and feel pretty good aboutwhere you are in terms of your team
defense. Part of that reason wouldbe because of Viza. Zubots has been
playing the best basketball of his career. But since Sir Jibaco went down.
He only played twenty one minutes tonight, but he had been averaging thirty the
last six games. Obviously he wasin foul trouble, but he's been a
(26:03):
force on both ends when it comesto just throwing everything down on offense and
moving guys out of the way,but then also the emphatic blocks he has
defensively. How do you think theyuse him moving forward when Serge Ibaka is
healthy, or if they do pickup another big man. Yeah, I
mean, you know, I thinkif the Clippers probably will add another big
(26:26):
man to this roster, but Ithink it will be a lot like the
Yoakim Noah edition last year, wherehe'll come in as foul insurance or injury
insurance, and maybe we'll see moreof whoever this guy is than we saw
Noah. If the Clippers deal alittle bit more with fouls and injuries this
year, then ended up happening duringtheir last run at the center position.
But I don't think someone's going tocome in and displace Surger Zoo. And
(26:48):
in fact, I think over thecourse of these forty six games that we've
seen, or forty seven games nowthat we've seen from the Clippers, I
think if Visa Zubats has been onthe whole of the team's best player.
So for me, he's got it. I don't care, you know,
if he starts or not, itdoesn't that doesn't matter to me so much.
But he's got to be playing thirtyor thirty plus minutes every night,
even when Surge comes back. Heis so so important to this team's defense.
(27:14):
There's really not a situation in whichI would rather have Surge in defensively
than zoobots and offensively. While Surgehas you know, everyone likes appreciates that
Search has that jumper to his game, and I appreciate that as well.
But when you're playing four guys whoshoot forty percent, forty two percent,
forty five percent from three, ifthe fifth guy is Sergeibakas shooting thirty five
(27:37):
percent. Defensives are going to funnelshots to him, and your offense kind
of breaks down what Zubots gives yourolling to the rim, clearing out space,
dunking the basketball, but also keepingthe ball alive on the offensive last
to earn extra possessions for those efficientshooters. I mean, I think he's
the more valuable offensive player in additionto being the more valuable defensive player.
The guy has some sneaky skills. We saw that footwork the other nine and
(28:00):
I was like, what hakimlas one? What was that? There are flashes
here and there where he looks likethe long lost Gassault brother a little bit.
But Lucas Han is our guest hereon Clippers Talk again. Follow him
at Lucas j Han, damn ithand two ends at the end every time.
I'm sorry, Lucas, you knewit was coming. I couldn't get
(28:22):
out clean. But he covers theClippers for two on three hoops. He
is one of the best analysts outthere. Lucas Hand, thank you for
doing this tonight. I appreciate it. Thank you man. Have a good
one. By the way, Lucasis on the East Coast's one AM.
But big win for the Clippers, and he stayed up for me. They
(28:45):
win once twenty two to one twelveover the Philadelphia seventy six ers. Coming
back, we'll get to your phonecalls eight six six nine eight seven two
five seventy and we have postgame audiofrom the man with two ends, Terrence
Man. He goes for a season, I have twenty three points. He'll
hear from him next here on ClippersStuck on AM five seventy LA Sports.
(29:07):
This is La Clippers Basketball. Cool? Why Leonard is a destroyer of worlds?
Right now on the official home ofyour LA Clippers. In four of
his last five games now he's beendouble figures scoring. That would be tea
man. He finished with twenty threepoints on ten of twelve shooting. The
(29:30):
Clippers win one twenty two two onetwelve over the Philadelphia seventy six ers.
Terrence Man now going back to February, has been shooting almost forty five percent
from three, went two of twofrom distance. As Noah Eagle had pointed
out before his shot, it justlooks nice, It looks clean, It
(29:51):
looks very different and less rigid thanit was last season from the outside.
Plus there's a lot of confidence goingon there with Terrence Man when he's shooting
that high percentage and scoring the wayhe has in bunches. But his season
high was twenty three. He gotthat tonight. Welcome back. In two
Clippers talk, I'm ata Moslin eightsix nine eight seven two five seventy.
Before we hear from the main man, let's go to well someone who considers
(30:15):
himself that Jeff and Tarzana. Jeff, what's up, Adam? Are you
on my case tonight? What doyou mean you thought that was shade?
Jeff? You gotta be happy tonight. Oh, I think that was great.
You know, I look at WhiteHoward and I go, this guy
has got so much talents, andto get kicked out of two games in
(30:38):
the role like he was, he'snot really helping the team out. And
I'm thinking earlier this year before theygot a Baca, that Dwight Howard could
be a Clipper. But I feelso bad because she's supposed to be a
really, really good guy. ButI don't know what happens to him on
on the basketball court. Overall,Jeff, he still has helped Philly,
(31:00):
especially because m beads. He mightend up missing twenty five or so games
this see, he might end upmissing almost half of the season this year.
Hopefully not, but they had alittle bit of insurance there. But
yeah, it's not the first timewe've seen Dwight Howard get kicked out of
a game at Staples Center. I'mnot even talking about the last game out
against Los Angeles Lakers. It goesback to his last game, his first
(31:22):
run as a Laker in the playoffsagainst the San Antonio Spurs, where they
needed him and he lost his cooland was ejected late. But I'd aggress
go on, Jeff, I know, I just I feel bad because from
all indications, it's supposed to bea really good guy. But what you
do on the court and what youdo in your personal life to be two
different things. Know what I wasso happy was how good they played without
(31:45):
Patrick Beverley and without Sergemaca, andhow Terrence Man is turning into a star.
And when you know, Philadelphia cameclose that the Clippers last couple of
games from how actually the killer instinctto win games. Well, the only
thing I'm really worried about Adam isI don't want Andre and I lost some
(32:14):
Yeah, going to the Lakers. What's the possibility to think that he could
come to the Clippers. Well, reports earlier from Adrian Ward Sharrowski or that
it looks like he's leaning Lakers, but the Clippers still have an open roster
spot. There's still guys out there, and it's not like he was gonna
(32:34):
take many minutes away from a visaZoobots or Sure Debacca. When he's healthy,
We'll see what happens with that,Jeff. It's still in the works,
it sounds like, but I haven'tchecked Twitter recently. Terrence Mann,
though, is almost like a pickup this season for the Clippers, with
how much he's changed from the startof the year and really from last season
(32:55):
to this season. Nobody could haveexpected this amount of growth. But you
gotta hand it to Kenny Atkinson andthe development coaches on this team that they
are getting everything out of him.But it was also just the move of
taking him off of playing point. They were going square peg round hole with
it last season, trying to turnhim into a six five point guard just
(33:19):
because it was a need for thisteam. And maybe he'll get there eventually,
but right now, let him beinstinctual. Let him do what he
does best and just take advantage ofany creases in the defense and get to
the basket and play downhill, whichthen leads to him making open three pointers.
Later on, here was Terrence Manafter his season high twenty three points
(33:39):
and the Clippers one twenty two toone twelve victory over the Philadelphia seventy six
ers post games, speaking with themedia, You keep on taking a bigger
role offensively. I don't I know, there wasn't an NBA game where you
had ten baskets. I don't evenknow about college obviously moves on and you're
here. What was it like tokind of see how because it's playing you
(34:01):
and to continue to just fill inand get monkey tonight? Yeah, I
mean Lou's gone second unit. Idon't got that, you know, dynamic
score anymore. But I wasn't reallythinking about that. I was out there
playing my game and it was comingmy way. I just kept going making
shots. I mean, I workedon my game, so it's no surprise
(34:22):
to me. I just keep goingdoing the things that I work on as
good a Joe ready Terrence compared tocan you hear me? Now? Okay,
we got Terrence, compared to whenyou were at Florida State three years
ago until now, Doc mentioned thatyou didn't play much point guard under Leonard.
(34:44):
Just how is your game change?Maybe the past couple of seasons and
including this year under under lou youknow, just watching more film, figuring
stuff out, getting more experience atthe positions. You know, over time,
just seeing things different ways of vetshelped me a lot, give me
little pointers and stuff like that. You know, that's just how it goes.
(35:07):
Man. Over time, you justsee things different, You see the
game different. It grows on you, stuff slows down, and you know
that's how you develop. Can bego ahead? Eight, Terrence? Tonight
you had three or five games yousaid a season high. Are you familiar
with it? You recognize that?I didn't know that. Now you're eating
(35:30):
something different, man, since anAll Star break? What's going on?
You're doing something a little different,big guys. I mean, I see
you're putting in the work, pregame, pre game, you putting in the
work and it's actually showing up onthe court. How does that feel?
How rewarded is that that you're actuallymaking this happen and you're being a big
part of the impacting team wins.Talk to us about that. I mean,
(35:50):
it's pretty cool. It's pretty cooljust to be able to, you
know, see what I work onwork during the games. It's a pretty
cool feeling. But you know,I'm not I've done yet. We had
a lot of season ago. Youknow, that's just three out of the
last five games. Whatever. Westill at like twenty something more games left.
So I'm just keep working on mygame, doing what I do.
And uh, yeah, that's it. Like the attitude chiefs keep it up.
(36:13):
Man, Yeah, talk about someonebeing wise beyond their ears years there,
Terrence Man just even keel It's cool. Whatever. I'm not surprised.
There was that old Nate Diaz afterhe beat Connor McGregor quote. I'm not,
you know what, surprised. Ifeel like Terrence Man has some of
that confidence and they need it tocompete at this level. Clippers seventeen and
(36:36):
one. When they score one twentyor more, they win one twenty two
to one, twelve before we getout of here, one note on a
play outside of the Terrence Man lovewe've been given all night long. There's
gotta be a better way to saythat. But Kawhi Leonard, and while
Paul George was doing a lot oflittle things, including having nine assists,
(36:58):
including not settling for shot from theoutside when they're not falling. But Paul
George has been struggling with his shoteight of eighteen, one of five from
distance. The one he made happenedin the third quarter and it was off
a beautiful pass from Kawhi Leonard, who had an open shot in the corner
for three penetrated, kicked it backout to PG thirteen. He hit a
(37:19):
deep three pointer. I just lovethe fact that Kawhi Leonard was like,
Okay, I gotta get my guygoing though two. I know he's struggling.
I'm gonna get him an open shotin It wasn't an easy shot,
but it was in rhythm for PGthirteen and he hit it. The two
one three connection has been very lockedin and connected all season long. Those
are two guys that have been workingtogether after practice a lot. That chemistry
(37:40):
still building, which is scary becausethey've already looked great with one another,
and in fact the Clippers win. Those two play are twenty four and eight
on the season when both of themare active, pretty pretty good all right
before we get out of here.I do want to thank the Clippers organization,
(38:02):
Noah Eagle, Brian Seaman, RalphLawler, get well, Big bro
Jake. Thanks to Mike Nodo forfilling in. Thanks to sam Zia for
