Hi, this is Carol Miller. Welcome to our Get the
Letout calendar. On October twenty first, nineteen sixty two, Jimmy
Page took a train to Manchester to attend some American
blues musicians first gig in England. The American Folk Blues Festival,
was bringing John Lee Hooker, t Bonewalker, and Memphis Slim,
to name a few, to Manchester Trade Hall. Jimmy's childhood

friend David Williams, rode into town in a van filled
with the rolling Stones. They were all avid collectives of
American blues records. David said, quote, we were there to
see our heroes in the flesh, and that was all
that mattered. Unquote. When the show was over all, the
fans took over the stage to greet the performers, and
nobody stopped them. Meeting John Lee Hooker was the real prize.

almost unknown in circles in his own country, being treated
like the Messiah fifty five years ago. On October twenty second,
nineteen sixty nine, Led Zeppelin iiO was released everywhere in
the US that it hadn't been already. It had already
come out in Chicago when they played Aaron Russo's Kinetic Playground.

The band's Lighthouse in Santana opened for Zeppelin there. All
three groups had released their debut albums that year, and
led Zeppelin was the first of all three to release
their second album. Lighthouse were newly covering chest Fever, a
song whose introduction is traditionally played on organ. John Paul
Jones would see to it that led Zeppelin would have

an organist in their live act beginning with their next tour.
On October twenty third, nineteen ninety five, Jimmy Page and
Robert Plant played together in Boston for the second time

that year. In April, they had gotten to play the
original Boston Garden once more before it closed. This time
their show was at the new venue. Back then they
called it the Fleet Center. Jimmy Peg didn't know they

was encouraged to bring their own blankets to sit on.
That was the plan until the Fire Marshal insisted on
chairs because blankets on the floor would constitute a fire hazard.
Fifty five years ago, on October twenty fifth, nineteen sixty nine,
Led Zeppelin played for their first time at the original

Boston Garden. This appearance was one of the dates of
the New England region wide Gansett Tribal Rock Festival, presented
by Narrowganset Brewing Company. Johnny Winter from Mississippi was a
special star attraction for the show led Zeppelin with the headliners,
but Boston also got a taste of Detroit with a
set from MC five. Led Zeppelin were also scheduled to

headline another Gansett Tribal Rock Festival date on Halloween Night,
with a separate slate of opening acts. The advertised lineup
originally included Doctor John and the Night Trippers. The venue
for Halloween was switching from Rhode Island Auditorium in Providence
as originally planned, to Municipal Auditorium in Springfield, Massachusetts. This
