Speaker 1 (00:00):
Okay, Seana, it's an awful week. So we've got other
issues to talk about involving Nebraska football and the Big Ten.
And I know Husker fans are really unhappy about some
of the stuff that's leaking out about this two point
four billion dollar private equity deal that a Wall Street
is thinking of investing into the Big Ten. You might
fill us in.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yeah, there's a private equity group out of California, and
it's actually tied to a pension fund, so it's not
your traditional private equity type deal. It's a very stable
operating deal. But they're going to infuse two point four
billion where it would be divided up. And I think
the controversial part to a lot of fans is they're

(00:43):
going to tear up the payout of buying into the league,
where Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State would get one
hundred and ninety million dollars each overnight, USC and organ
would be in the second tier based on the ratings
and the television data and the multimedia stuff, you get
one hundred and forty five million. Then Nebraska would be
with thirteen other schools and what would be the third

(01:05):
tier and they would get a one to one hundred
and ten million immediately, so you've become cast rich overnight.
And it would help schools with a lot of expenses
in debt and things that have happened in For Nebraska, obviously,
the stadium comes to my mind immediately what this one
hundred and ten million would do. But I think it
is humbling in some respects that Nebraska is not in

(01:26):
that second tier if they're not in the top tier obviously,
but that's the kind of the you look at the
last fifteen years of Nebraska football. It's reality.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah, actually more like about twenty five years.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
You're right.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, it's called u SEE Investments. That's the organization. It
manages the University of California pension system. They would buy
a ten percent stake in the conference's new offshoot, which
is Big ten Enterprises. They would get a ten year
extension of the grant of rights for television, and they
would get a stake in all of the future playoff revenues,
in fact, all revenues associated with a Big ten and

(01:59):
that could in future you know, marketing rights that are
right now not being used, meaning they get access to
Big ten venues, volleyball arenas, basketball, arena stadiums to market products,
and Michigan in particular is very unhappy with that because
they want Michigan Stadium to be virgin, to stay virgin

(02:19):
of any advertising.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Yeah, it's sixteen to two right now. USC and Michigan
are the two that are against us. I mean, Nebraska
is in a tough spot here. They can't break off
the group here and be against this because you know,
the only non AAU member of the Big Ten as
it is, and you know, you can't, you know, start
trying to make noise about this because I do think

(02:43):
a lot of the schools want this because of just
the immediate influx of cash it would bring to each
institution to help with revenue share, to help with other
things going on. And then it would also provide longer
sustability to the Big Ten conference and then you know,
keep this league together and not allow us stay on

(03:03):
Ohio State or somebody to break off and do their
own thing because they feel like they're not getting the
money that they deserve because Oile State along with Alabama
or you know, usually the two highest television rated teams
week to week in college football. It's just a fact. Yeah,
and they know their values. They are better than everybody else's.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, and you might say, well, what is Nebraska going
to use the money for rebuilding the stadium. That's the
one hundred million that they wanted from the state that
the state's not going to give them because we have
a three hundred million dollars debt in the stadium. All Right,
with that talk about recruiting, Well, what's the staff going
to do this weekend in recruiting?

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, Matt Rule will be out on the road Friday today,
he's out Yesterday's in Georgia and Florida checking out a
couple of their wide receivers. You know, there's still a
couple of twenty twenty six pieces they're looking at. There's
a couple Juco defensive linemen out there that they're jumping on. Guys.
Sighting day is December third, I mean it is coming up,
and these are the last days that you can be

(03:59):
out on the road and it's not a full staff.
I mean they had six you know, you could basically
have six coaches out for one day, That's that's what
they've had left to do, or you could have three
coaches out for two days. I mean, so they don't
have a lot of days to use, so they'll they'll
try to maximize today and then I will be it,

(04:20):
and then signing days in a couple of weeks in
December is a dead period. The portal does not open
until January second.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Okay, Sean hust Onlinshow tonight at six on News Radio
eleven and KFAB kind of a reprise of what's happened
so far. I assume, yeah, we you.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Know, recap things over this bye week and discuss a
lot of topics as we get you ready for next week,
which is gonna be a huge game out of Penn
State for Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Great time to have an open date. Man, it is Sean. Thanks,
he's back with Memory of the Afternoon Buzz five oh
five here on news Radio eleven to ten Kfab

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
