Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Sports Breaks the Husker whereof Sean Callahan Live and
Liken Rosie Okay, shut out.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
This is a bye week, so there's not a lot
of news out of Husker camp, and we haven't had
an injury report in a while. And I just remember
trev Alberts tell on me one time, if you're not
hurt in November, it's because you're not playing. So probably
everybody has some form of injury. But in your mind,
who will both most benefit from this off week from

(00:26):
an injury.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Standpoint, Well, I think Desaan McCullough is where you start.
You know, he tried to go last week and couldn't
believe a shoulder stinger type pain, So you hope that
he can get himself back in this game this week.
You know, last week Rex Gut three, it looked pretty significant.
That ended up being kind of a stinger pain too.

(00:48):
Hopefully two weeks for him hack, another two weeks for
the hand of Rocko Spindler. You think about what I mean,
his fingers essentially dislocated from his hand and he's in
playing with a cast on, so you hope that helps him.
Benson Shaver, same deal. He's been playing with the club
cast on. So you know, there's there's some key players

(01:10):
that have battled through and I'm sure Himma Johnson can
enjoy the rest. And he leads the conference and carries
and and and you know what this league is like.
And the good thing for him is he's done a
good job of not putting himself into a lot of
positions where he gets hit hard. And he gets hit
but now you never he got smoked on that play.
I think him it's pretty good at making it where

(01:31):
he doesn't generally get hit too hard when when he
goes down.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Yeah, he's very reminiscent of Johnny Rodgers that way. Rodgers
went through his career in Nebraska playing on AstroTurf without
a major injury. He did get injured when he was
in the NFL, but partly because nobody could ever get
a clean shot at him.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
He was so elusive and he moves so well laterally.
And I think it's the same way with Emma Johnson.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah, HIMTT and you know their their full boat on
this Heisman campaign. Last night at Pinnacle Bank Arena, he
was wearing an m Heisman D shirt, which I'll be honest,
I mean's a little carried away at this point, but
I do think Doak Walker Award, Big Ten running Back
of the Year both very possible. He was one of
just two running backs named to the Maxwell Award semi finalists,

(02:15):
so I mean, he is one of the top running
backs in the country right now and only two of
them made the Maxwell, which is another version of the Heisman,
So you know, it's not necessarily out of line. I mean,
if he plays well the next two weeks, that discussion
will happen. But I think the All American Honors, Doak
Walker Award, Big Ten running Back of the Year, I mean,

(02:37):
that's probably more realistic and that'd be a huge accomplishment
for Nebraska to have a player win those awards.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
I think he's very definitely in line for All American Honors,
Heisman Trophy. No, that's a campaign deal.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
He's a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
But if you think about twenty twenty six, and I
don't know if Emma Johnson will come back in twenty
twenty six, probably depends on how much money will pay him.
But it seems to me that running backs need to
go to the NFL sooner than later. And if he
has a big year, you can't blame him for being
an NFL prospect because the average lifespan of an NFL

(03:11):
running back is about four and a half years. That's it,
and you don't want to waste another year in college
when your aspiration is to have a pro career. What's
your thought on that.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, it's tough because you know, right now he's listed
like eighth or so on the running back draft board,
which you know get you like fourth round just depending
on the year. It's it's not a great running back year.
There's not like a surefire top guy. So he's gonna
benefit from that, I think with what he's done. If

(03:44):
he wins these awards too, or gets himself up for
these awards, it's going to be hard to come back.
I mean, the ni AL money would be great, but
you're right, you take a year away from your NFL
career at that point, it's it's it's tough. I mean,
there's but that said, a mere Dula is still playing
for the Colts right now, so it's it's it's doable
to continue to play in the league for a long time,

(04:05):
but it's extremely hard for that position.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Yeah, it is, uh, and I think he'll rise on
the draft board he's eighth today, but he may be
higher by the end of the season, especially if he
has big games against good defenses, which you're straight ahead.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Not only that, but he'd have if if he stays
and continues this, he'd be toward the top of the
list and the Heisman chatter next season. These days, you know,
no doubt, Sean. I remember, I don't know if you
remember this, Rosie does. Tom never really liked the Osbourne,
never really liked the promotion, no of his players. They
do it on the field, right, you know. But it's

(04:39):
a different ballgame now, right, Matt Matt rule is all
over this, right.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I mean, it wouldn't be surprising if Matt rules were
in the I mean, yeah, that's his style to support
his players and do that. But yeah, different time, and
and look, I'm with you, Gary. It's generally a quarterback award,
you know. Travis Hunter was the exception last year. And
I think Mendoza in Indiana or Julian Sane at Ohio

(05:03):
State are the two favorites. The SEC doesn't really have
a great candidate for as good as that league is,
those two quarterbacks in the Big Ten are the favorites.
But it's an odd year for the Heisman. There's just
nobody that just that's automatic right.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Out at this point, not that they jumped out.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
I would think that Indiana quarterback right well winning.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Yeah, that last drive against Penn State was sort of
a Heisman Trophy winning drive, but you know, look, it's
you're right. Tom didn't like it, but Tom had Don Bryant,
and Tom had a very strong PR machine sure that
he didn't have to worry about Sean. Thanks our Husker

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
