Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now we got to sports Break the Huscar Buzz Vision.
We're at our big Red Insider Sean Callahan Live and Likeken.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Rosa Shano, I've just among those who have attacked you
on social media, I've defended your honor vigorously because when
you were on KFAB yesterday morning, as you are a
fixture on the program and have been for twenty years,
you and I were both factually correct when we declared
that the note contract has been signed, which is true.

(00:25):
It had not been signed, and it didn't get signed
until later in the day. And it's not a contract,
it's an extension. It's in adendum. It's probably one and
a half pages. But it is good for him. It's
good to be Matt Ruhle right now because they just
extended his contract two years, which adds a significant amount
to his guarantee.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Yeah, I don't know, I mean the semantics of it all.
Yet it was obviously in the works really since Minnesota
has Troy Dannen said yesterday and you know rules definitely,
I mean, he wasn't happy that, like the news got
out that because it wasn't done yet it got signed
yesterday morning, and he wanted to kind of break the
news to his family and his team first, and that's

(01:06):
all water under the bridge now. But yeah, the the
deal itself, the total buyout number goes up to seventy
one million, so I mean that's where the numbers at now.
I mean, that's probably the biggest jump he gets the
two years, his base pay doesn't increase, it's all all
the other increases in the deal would be incentivized. I thought.
One of the more intriguing ads though, Jim he now

(01:29):
gets sixty five personal private jet hours per year on
the contract, which is a good way to up your
salary without having, you know, be listened in the books.
From what I can tell, that's as much as any
coach gets in the country. He had fifty, which is
a very high, and that was kind of the standard high.
Now he's at sixty five private jet hours as well,
and those hours that are unused can carry over. So

(01:51):
it's a good contract. There's no doubt. There can't be
too many better in the country, and I think it's
one of the longest ones. There aren't that many coaches
that are now sitting that have another eight years on
our deal.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Essentially, this is a big gamble for Nebraska. He's eighteen
and thirteen, he's not defeated a ranked team. They have
at times looked like they are not prepared for the game,
and that's on the staff. But you had to do
it if you're in Nebraska, because I firmly believe Seano
and you're closer to the program than I am today

(02:24):
that the distraction of Penn State was an impactful on
the Minnesota game. It was impactful on preparation, it was
impactful during the game. It affected the kids. And I
think that the administration, led by President Gold said, you
know what, we're either going to take Rule's name off
of lists or we're not. And if we don't, we
could have another Minnesota on our hands, and nobody wants that.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
And the other yeah, and the other big part of
it was his buyout to leave Nebraska if another job
was only five million dollars, so he was as a
sitting duck or someone to take. They've upped that number
for this year to fifteen, which theoretically takes Penn State
out of the way. I've seen some say that, hey,
Penn State, that they really want them, will come up
with fifteen million, but you know they're paying out Franklin

(03:06):
a lot, they're paying out a lot of other things.
That's a very big number, and that number would go
down every year starting on June thirtieth. But it essentially
kind of protects the Penn State thing, which I think,
if you're being honest, is about the only job you know,
when you think about jobs you would leave for, that's
one of the few, if not the only. So I
think that fifteen million was almost put in play to say, hey,

(03:30):
this is going to protect the Penn State thing, because
you were kind of a sitting duck out there for
only a five million dollars buyout.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
We'll get to the USC game briefly, but I do
want to ask you about anything else associated with this
extension involving nil. He's whined publicly about Nebraskans not stepping
up to pay players. I reject that notion, but that's
matt rules view. Was there anything in this that guaranteed
a certain amount of money for the players over and

(03:58):
above the twenty point five million that they're paying players now?

Speaker 3 (04:02):
No, I mean, there's nothing that you can really put
in writing other than it's that you have there's a
thing in there that says, you know, you have to
be competitive and you know, up up to top market
value of what you're doing with your with your inn
I L and him and Troy Dan and can meet
on that multiple times per year to discuss, you know,

(04:24):
where they're at as an athletic department with the ni
L side, and I mean, that's all you can really do.
But I do think playfly and I do think Adidas
and some of those other things are important when you
when you look at kind of inn I L like
they can serve as another layer of a way to
get money corporately. But yeah, you gotta win too. I mean,
I think that's if they win, they'll be businesses lining

(04:47):
up to figure out ways to pay an I LAS.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
All right, Sean, here they come. What's what's it going
to take to beat these guys?

Speaker 3 (04:53):
We'll get colder. I want, I want. This will be
probably the coldest game US he has played in the
spread by the ways down to four to half. I
think for Nebraska, can you get Jaden Maeva a little
bit off balance? He's only been sacked four times, so
he moves around well. They've suffered some injuries at running back.
They're on their third string back, so can you limit
what they do in the run game. If you remember

(05:14):
a year ago in La, they got hurt by Lincoln
Riley in the run game. That's what kind of won
the Trojans the game itself. But also Dylan Rayla, he
needs one of those special nights where he's hot and
he gets going and they find some plays down the field.
Dylan Royola, I believe the last three weeks is only
connected on the two passes of twenty plus yards down
the field. They need more, bigger passes. You can't live

(05:36):
off twelve to fourteen play drives every single time. You've
got to have some big play drives as well.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
An AOL needs to play well for sure. Shawn's back
with them the Afternoon Buzz just after five, and then
of course Oscar Online show tonight at six right here
on Big Red Radio eleven ten. Gay Baby

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
