Speaker 1 (00:00):
I'm now for a sports brief ten minutes before seven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
It's the Husker Buzz Edition Live from Lincoln with Sean
Callahan and Jim Rows. Okay, Scott, good morning everybody, seanau
transfer Portal News. First, let's talk about who's coming back,
and they Borcature apparently got paid.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
He's changed his mind.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
Went he did he announce? I didn't see that, Jim,
where did When did he announce?
Speaker 1 (00:22):
I saw that this morning on X I'll dig it
up for you.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
I saw a random, unconfirmed report, but I didn't see
anything confirmed.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Oh well, hey, look to me. If it's on Twitter,
it's factual. You know that.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Okay, Yeah, I need to because I thought he might
be visiting Alabama or some other places this but I
had not seen anything. Oh wait, hold on, did he
make his own announcement? I went to bed around eleven thirty,
so don't. I didn't see anything last night. But yeah,
we'll check that out. Well check back out, yeah, because
I don't have anything that he's coming back at this point.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Okay, did direct message me? I may have it wrong.
Maybe part of it is Christmas hope, it's a Christmas
wish on the other hand, Nebraska gets a transfer from
Missouri and b Sean Callahan on this one, Sean, because
I'll be honest with you, I'm wondering what makes Williams
win aer.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
He's such a big deal.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
He played thirty eight snaps for Miszoo last year after they,
as you pointed up, changed a state law to get him.
That shows you how much they thought of him out
at least some at Missouri High school a year ago.
They gave him lots of money and some other goodies.
But he only played thirty eight snaps in four different games,
(01:36):
two of which against SEC competition.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
So what makes this guy so good?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Well, they made the decision to redshirt him because they
thought he needed the full year development, but his length
is upside. You know, he was regarded as the best
edge rusher in the country. He six six sixty five.
I mean, everybody wanted him. And you know he said
was he changed their state laws to help pay his
(02:03):
in il when he was in high school. He's been
paid several hundred thousand dollars from Missouri vehicles. You know everything.
And you know the X factor for Nebraska is his
high school coach, Toamar Mosi, is now on staff at Nebraska,
and that made this thing happen as quickly as it's happened.
I don't know if Missouri was planning to pay him
(02:23):
the same amount of money as he was getting as
a freshman. I don't know what went on behind the
scenes for his next year's new NIL agreement. But he
abruptly left Columbia and he's in Lincoln. In fact, he
was in Lincoln yesterday, and you know, I wouldn't be
surprised if he signs his paperwork with Nebraska as early
as today. But you know, if you're Missouri, you have
(02:45):
to play this guy. It's it's really to invest several
hundred thousand dollars, change laws and say we're gonna four
game red shirt him. You know, you've got to find
a role to play him more than what they did
this year. So you know, I know their fan base
is taking this one pretty hard, exactly.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
And this is the issue that I really feel should
be illuminated, and that is if he was a project
at Missouri, and a lot of them are, okay, I mean, look,
a high school kid is a project. It's a huge
jump from high school to college football, regardless of how
talented you are. If they really believed he was a project,
they wouldn't have invested in him like that. If they
(03:22):
do invest in him, which they have, he doesn't play
in four games unless there's a problem with Williams one Aria.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, for Nebraska, it's like you're getting this fully loaded
escalade that's been driven just a few miles off the lot,
and you're getting in at a discount probably at this point.
So that Nebraska really comes out of this in a
great position, you know, because a year ago when Aria
was the highest paid defensive high school nil prospect arguably
(03:49):
in the sports history as far as you know, what
he commanded in the market he commanded. So this is
a big one for Nebraska to kick off the portal month.
They'll have more visitors in this weekend. They've had three
four if you count one area visited this week and
at least two more probably you're coming on Saturday. It's
(04:10):
going to be another full week of this. So I
mean they'll be next week as well, a lot of
visitors coming in on campus.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Well, then the other guy I want to ask you
about is Eric Rivers, who's an exceptional talent at wide receiver,
and we've visited about the number of kids at wide
receiver and tight end yesterday. There just aren't enough footballs
to throw around to get these guys happiness. And if
we just look at the tight end position, Let's say
Nate comes back, and I think some of the remarks
(04:37):
by Matt Rule yesterday would lead you to think if
he hasn't already decided to come back, he might because
he's left the door open, and they so left quote
unquote amicably. But you talk about a tight end room
start with Fadoni, Carter Nelson, Luke linden Meyer, Nate Borkashier.
There is Henry Carberg has now moved a tight end.
(04:58):
These guys can't stay happy.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
He can.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
They shown well Carter Nelson can end up being a
tight end too down the road. But I thought Dana
Holgerson did a great job of featuring the different tight ends.
Eric Rivers, as you mentioned, is a receiver out of
f i U and he's getting a ton of attention
in the portal Miami flot Penn State, you name it.
(05:20):
The easy guy that they're on. I don't know if
he's scheduled to visit. I don't have him scheduled to
visit Nebraska yet, but they are in the receiver market.
Dane Key from Kentucky's the other big name. The list changes.
I mean, there's so much action happening right now, so
much evaluating of transfers going into portal. But yeah, the
tight end position with Borgacher. And by the way, there
(05:42):
is there is no report that he's coming back yet.
There was just a random fan on Twitter that put
out a report, you know, saying he confirmed through sources,
but it's an unverified report at this so there's nothing
yet on Borger Shure. You hope that Nebraska can get
him back, you know, but seek is Alabama, A and
m Oklahoma and Florida State have all inquired about him.
(06:04):
Is what we were told already.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Okay, buddy, thanks, we'll keep you up to date, or
he'll keep us up to date.
