Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sports Breathe Now the Huskar buzz edession with Sean Callahan
live in Lincoln, Rosie.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay Sandler now Shanah yesterday. I'm sure that the carniforous
media of Nebraska football came hard after Matt Ruhle and
that dreadful stretch there in the third quarter. Were you
satisfied with the explanation he had two days to think
about it?

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Yeah, I mean, the one thing he continued to say
was he wanted the play clock to be reset. Pumped
the clock is the phrase he used. He felt like
in the situation there with getting players up and kind
of setting the play, there wasn't enough time to kind
of get things going. I think that's what he was
claiming he was upset about. But nonetheless, yeah, it was

(00:40):
a strange situation because I don't think anybody would have
criticized going for that fourth down on thirty four because
of the odds to making a kick or so much
harder there from say going for a fourth down from
the ten are the are the two? So I think
it made it would have No one would have criticized
them going for that fourth down to maybe give Kanana

(01:03):
a better chance at a kick. That. We also didn't
realize that was going to be it for scoring opportunities.
I mean they never really got themselves, you know, much
after that. They didn't make one more field goal, but
it just you know, the game just have a seat
on a different feel.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Yeah, well, I have no doubt they would have made
the first down. They were running the ball so effectively.
You give the ball to Amma Johnson, He's going to
get the yard. So the whole sequence was mind boggling
to me, given how successful the Husker running game had
been to that point in the game. And I hope
we don't see a repeat of this, but we have
seen this. This is I wouldn't call it a pattern,

(01:37):
but Nebraska over the last couple of seasons, Sean has
had some various, curate, very curious stretches of game management.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah, and you know when you lose one score games
like Nebraska has done, I mean that's what's going to happen.
You're going to have situations like his three manage something
wrong or don't make the right call, and it gets
microscope ondity or more. Because that's difference in all of
these games, and that was arguably the difference in this game.

(02:07):
Just that situation how it was managed. And when you
play a game of football where it's only sixty snaps
and that's what a lot of Big Ten games are,
you know, there's not a lot of you can't have
mistakes like that where you manage it wrong. I mean,
the turnovers aren't killing this team. As we know, they've
been great for the most part with turnovers. I mean,
Emma Johnson's fumbled the ball only one time all season.

(02:29):
Dan Ryola had his fumble in this game on Saturday.
But you know, other than that, they've been good at
those kinds of mistakes. It's been kind of some of
the management decisions, you know, not kicking against Michigan, taking
the points early. I mean, there's things like that you
go back and look at, like, you know, could think
have been a little different if they made the kicking
against Michigan start the game out. Who knows.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Let's visit about TJ. TJ.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Latif.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Mentally he's a talented athlete, but as you've watched freshman
down through the years, how does he come mentally with
them and their capacity to make have a successful and
largely efficient game in their first start.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Well, he's been on campus longer than any true freshman
quarterback could ever be. I mean, if you remember he
arrived for the Pinstripe Bowl, he was here in December,
so he practiced. How was at Fordham University and he
was practicing back in December before the game. So he
has gotten a lot of time here. He's not your
typical freshman in terms of maturity because of just how

(03:30):
much time he spent and worked at it. He played
in a high profile program, Orange Lutheran plays, you know,
towards the top of California, and so it's not like
he's not played at a high level high school ball,
and I think the little we've seen of him he
can handle it. Now it's Dan Holger's's job to create
the right kind of game plan for him. I'm optimistic

(03:51):
that his running ability will get safeties up. Or when
Dylan Ryola was in safety's played deep, there were there
were no down the field brow ability because of teams
that respect Dylan as a runner. Now you have a
quarterback that can run. That should help Emmet out too.
I think Emma Johnson will hopefully get some better big

(04:11):
play runs and then maybe the safeties as well. Coming
down more for the run.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Will open up a few more passes for LATIF will
be interesting. Sean. Thanks our big Red Insider with us

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
