Speaker 1 (00:00):
Variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's
Star one on one three, It's Marcus and Corey just
before six.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
What's happened in Monday morning?
Speaker 3 (00:06):
Hello, sank goo to Maya, say good to Mayo.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
How was your weekend?
Speaker 3 (00:12):
It was okay? Can I be completely honest with you?
Mother's Day is coming in hard and fast, and it's
some years I'm fine, and some years I'm like, shut up,
you know with the.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Ash, sure stuff, Sure.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
That's a little weepy. This weekend.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
It's hard.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
And I gotta imagine you're not the only one. Corey
lost her mom. When I'm gonna say, you were pretty young.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
I was twenty eight. Yeah, I was fifty seven.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Her mom passed from breast cancer. It is a cause.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
It is very near and dear to Corey's heart. Sorry,
I don't want to tell your story.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
That's okay, that's okay.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
But so I can imagine that Mother's Day hits harder
than you know, not.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Every year, but there's something about this year.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
I think. So. I had this wonderful dinner Friday night
with my friend Kim. Her parents are in town. They
moved here, and I spent a lot of time with
her mother, huh, which reminded me of So it was just.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
You know, hanging out with Kim's folks is neat.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
It's really neat.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
I had lunch with her dad on Thursday. I don't
even remember, but he was in radio.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, like I don't know, five or six years back
in the day, like was he worked for Armed Forces
Radio in Europe. He was basically Robin Williams in Good
Morning Vietnam.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Totally, totally so, but it was it was a good weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
Yeah, all right, that's cool. I went and saw my
mom for a couple of days.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
She's rehabbing from knee surgery and you know, she's seventy six,
seventy seven. Her husband is crushing eighty and he's her
number one caregiver. And he was just doing everything That
guy operates on a high level. He's like showing me
exactly how she likes her Berry's cut for her steel
cutoat meal. He gets all the stuff, you know, ready
(01:52):
the night before and he's like, man, you got to
make sure to serve it immediately.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Your mother likes it at a certain temperature. Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
It was just like take notes because on one side,
I got Mom who has very exacting expectations and then
her husband maintains those exact expectations.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
And if you don't execute properly, you get looks.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
I'm sure they're not gonna step to me, but I
got looks.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
And you know me, you know, I pick with a
wide brush sometimes.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Yeah, I can see you being like I just want
to roll this way totally.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
And my mom was so cute, She's so funny.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
She goes, just come over and visit with me, and
I did, but I was like, Mom, look, I'm here,
but I'm here as a caregiver and also your son,
but like here as an employee. Frankly, so your husband
can sleep a little bit. I'll visit later. Anyways, Really
good to see her in advance of Mother's Day.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
That's nice.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Let us know how your weekend was.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
I'm gonna we'll have our weekend picks up hopefully by
seven am, just in time for what's trending. We'll see
what's up coming up this morning at seven thirty five.
More tickets for Halsey and Conquered, and then we're gonna
lace you up during the trivia game.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
To go to David Busters.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Love that place.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
I'm going to give up a.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Gift cards for that for the win. Stay with us.
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today.
It's Star one on one three, It's Marcus and Corey
six' eleven. Good morning, Monday morning. Yes, set your week
off right. These are some ways, some phrases you can
use to say I told you so without being rude. Okay,
what if I want to be rude?
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Though? What if I want to let them have it?
Speaker 3 (03:22):
I mean, I told you so is such a so?
This is aggressive statements.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
The scenario is somebody wants to do something You've formed
them again and again about the consequences.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
And they do it anyway.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yes, you want to gloat, you want to make them
feel guilty. Yes, but be nice, be kind. Here are
some things you could say. Number one, I was really
hoping to be wrong about that.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
Oh that's just as bad.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
That's not better.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
How about well this is a lesson for both of us.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Oh no, no it's not.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
I'm seeing I'm sensing a theme here. What about Oh
we saw that coming?
Speaker 4 (04:03):
These are so aggressive about.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
This is what we were worried about. You see what's
happening here.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
I'm still shaming them.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
But one of the ways to deflect the shame is
they're they're they're they're doing it in group.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
But that doesn't make it any better.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Instead of you should have seen this coming because I
told you so, you say we saw this coming. No,
how about if I just let this one hang. Instead
of saying I told you so, I say, hey, sometimes
the writing really is on the wall.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Coy, Oh, these are terrible.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Call me a dummy, for God's sake, Get it over with.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
Just take out the middleman and go way to go stupid.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Here's another one that deflects.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
I guess that concern wasn't so far off after all.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Wow, that's deep. That's like I'm than you this one.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
This one, okay, this one isn't much better than I
told you so. Hey, Corey, looks like I was right.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
I don't like any of these.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
They're all mean. They're very demeaning.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
This one isn't bad.
Speaker 1 (05:16):
Uh, this is why I was hesitant earlier.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Okay, I will take that one.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
How about it.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
I think we can chalk this up to a learning moment.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
That you're basically calling me stupid.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Well, now we know for next time. What I would
I really want to say is I already knew. I
tried to tell you and you didn't listen to me,
But now we know.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
For next time, just say I told you so and
be done.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
It's way more effective. Got the good ones again. These
are things you can say without saying I told you so.
You already know you're right, you already won. Everybody knows
you don't have to say it. What's a kind way
to do it? Scott's got to be another good one anyway.
Hit us up with a talkback if you don't mind.
On the iHeartRadio app, that little red microphone variety from
(06:07):
the two thousands, the nineties and today it's Star one
on one three. It's Marcus and Corey Monday morning, Good morning,
Good morning. Do you want to be the healthiest version
of yourself? Of course, here are some mundane things that
can actually make you really sick if you don't do
them properly. Oh okay, For example, wash your hands.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Oh see, you don't do that, though, What are you
talking about? You said you like to get dirty.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
No, but I wash my hands.
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Okay, there's a difference between I don't worry too much
about germs and not washing my hand.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Dope, dope, poor. That sounded disgusting.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
You're out there licking subway polls.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
You maye me sound like you made me sound like
that guy and the men's room, like you got to
check the shoes. You're going to shake their hand again
because they just flew out of there without washing. God, sorry,
I washed my hand fastidiously.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Thank you. Here's another one. Not finishing antibiotics.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
You're supposed to finish them even if you.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Feel better, matter how you're feeling, Finish that full course. Yeah,
here's another one. I'm luke warmond. After a certain age,
you should eliminate all your slippery socks, uneven area rugs,
or other tripping.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Acts in your home.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Coming from a person who falls down on the regular.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
I have a condition.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about me.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Oh I'm the one who falls down. I just tripped
over the dog bed the other night.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
I guarantee you nobody falls more than me. What's gonna
happen to you when you're literally at that age where
you should eliminate, You're gonna have dog beds underfeet.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
I just remember having socks on my hands were full
and I fell down the stairs and Jeff said, did.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
You just throw a washing machine down the.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Stairs, didn't get up or anything.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Nope. Because the other half of it is if you
get those socks they give you in the hospital with
the stickytrippy, you can also trip with those. Those aren't
good with you for you either, no, because they stop
you short. Uh, don't swim with contact lenses in I
think that's a that's a gimmeike.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Here's another one.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
I was like, people do that. Don't let your dog
lick an open wound.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
What. I'm a dog person and I have never been like, hmm,
what's the best treatment for those open wound loki spits?
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Oh, here's another one that could be obvious. If you
don't brush your teeth, that could be bad for you.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
What and what?
Speaker 1 (08:22):
And it extends past your mouth. It can lead to
one hundred different head to toe issues. Well, yeah, even
kill you.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
It could.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Here's another one that this is me. If you consistently
get less than seven hours of sleep a night, that's
bad for you.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Yeah, I was at that.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
I'll be honest, I rock about six to six and
a half.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Yeah, I really try to at least get seven.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Sometimes I try, and then sometimes i'd binge watch anyway, anyway,
if you want to add something mundane things, it could
actually make you really sick. That's something to add. What
I just it's just funny that you have to say
these things. I know, don't let your dog lick in
open wounds. I think that's my take a way here,
hit us with a talkback if you've got one. It's
that little red microphone on the iHeartRadio app. Love to
(09:05):
hear from you. It's Star one on one three. More
variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's
Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey six
forty four.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Good morning.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
I thought this was strange as a guy in Wisconsin.
Would you ever do this? Corey?
Speaker 3 (09:17):
What?
Speaker 1 (09:17):
He allowed snakes to bite him over two hundred times
to help develop anti venom. I guess he wants to
be a superhero and be immune from snakes.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
No, No, I wouldn't do that.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
This was over twenty years and he's it's okay, So
he's got pet snakes. So just imagine allowing your cobras
and your mambas to bite you on purpose.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
I had a snake once, did you what kind like
a It's like a regular nothing big or insane like
a bullet constrictor. Or it's just like a regular.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Regular snake, just you know the scientific classification.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
My friend genis is that.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
A pet store. She needed to find a home for it.
Speaker 3 (10:07):
I took it, and then the day when I said,
why is my belt moving across the floor?
Speaker 4 (10:11):
Oh, it's not a belt, that's a snake.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
I donated it to a school.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
I got to give it up for my mom because
I brought two snakes home from school one time, and
she didn't even barely bat and eye barely. I bought
a home a kink snake and a rosy bo.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Of some bas snake. It was a king snake.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Okay, so basically, so I'm in the fifth grade and
they had a couple of snakes at the school.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
They're like, these snakes need homes. I was like, I'll
take them.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Jeez, can you imagine you're I think my I guess
I was ten nine, ten years old at the time,
and I'd just come home with two snake wrapped around
my neck and the other one in a cage.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
Well, I used to grab them in the yard because
you know, I grew up in Florida.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Do you not grabbing pythons in Florida.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
No, they're not pythons. They're just like grass snakes. They're
just like we Because it scared my sister, she hated them,
and so of course I'm like, oh, here we go.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Oh I know what happened.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
So I brought home the rosy boa, and then another
girl on my block brought home the king snake and
her mom wasn't having it. Her mom's like, no, get
this out of my house. So she comes over crying.
I'm like, I'll take the snake.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
It's just you know what was the hardest part for me?
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Feeding it?
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah, yeah, I didn't like that car.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Yeah, because you got to feed him mice. So we
got a mouse because we wanted to watch, because I'm
very animal kingdom, and put him in one of those
gigantic Costco Mayo jars, like as a terrarium, and then
just covered the opening with tinfoil and poketoles in it
so he could breathe. Well, the mouse got out, and then.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
This all sounds horrible.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
The hunt was hunt.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Did you get back to the original story about this
guy letting his snakes bite over?
Speaker 1 (11:45):
This was very interesting to me. This guy in Wisconsin
allowed his pet snakes to bite him two hundred and
two times for over twenty years to.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Build amenity immunity to their venom.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
I do.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
By the way, I am not suggesting you do this.
I'm just telling on a story.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
I don't want to say anything bad about Wisconsin.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
But we're gonna go ahead and let that go.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Six. We'll check what's trending next. Next, go ahead, Corey,
I have.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Some good movie news which happens to center around Deadpool.
Also Kenna Reeves and Sandra Bullocker teaming up again.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Oh for another movie. Okay, we'll get into that and
more coming up next. Star one O one three. This
is what I'm talking about, is what's trending on Star.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
What's happening in entertainment news, the biggest stories of the day,
and everything people are talking about today in the Bay.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
What's trend things brought to you by Cash Creek Casina Resort.

at the crowd for her show at Copacabana Beach in
Rio Dejanio, Brazil, Saturday night. Two point five million fans
were there, which means Gaga pushes past Madonna to score
(13:03):
the record for the heighest attended concert by a female
artist in history.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Interesting.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
She says nothing could prepare her for the feeling she
had during last night's show. The absolute pride and joy
I felt singing for the people to Brazil. The side
of the crowd during my opening songs took my breath away.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
That's cool.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
Yeah, I love her, She's amazing. Nike's doing something really
weird with its latest Air Force ones. They come out
of the box looking trashed, think stuffed, stained and frayed.
For one hundred and thirty dollars. Now here's the twitsch.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Give them to me immediately, Yes, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
The more you wear them, the cleaner they get thanks
to a special scratch off texture.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Oh, they're gonna sell out.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Each pair includes vintage style laces and even a brush
in case you're feeling impatient about getting them their cleanest.
They drop on Wednesday, and sneakerheads are already making cracks
about them, with one comment to writing that they're wearing
a pair right now, and another joking plot twist, they're
just turns.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
That's not bad. That good. That's a pretty good one.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
And Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bulleger teaming up once again.
You know them from the hit movie Speed. Will they
be doing Speed three? Probably not, but they are getting together.
We don't have any idea what the movie is about,
and Bullock is going to produce it.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
I do like them together. I do too, Sandy and
Keano back in the studio.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
The only one I didn't like was that lake House
one that was kind of bad.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Oh no, I never saw it, but I was one
of those where I was like, mmmm fast, yeah, let's
see where to begin a oh yeah. Cinco de Mayo, Yes,
today is Cinco de Mayo aka Gringo de Mayo. As
thirty nine percent of Americans still think it's Mexican Independence Day,
it is not.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
It is not Independencia Mexican Independence Day.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Actually, September sixteenth, Singo to Mao actually celebrates a very
significant win for the Mexican army against the French, the
Battle of Puebla.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Also an excuse to drink on a Monday, I.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Suppose sure, Let's see if I could pull off a grito.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
It's very loud.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Should really face the wall when I do that.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
I really wish you would instead of facing me.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
So please take our poll on the Star one oh
one three fm Instagram. How do you like your margharitas
blended with salt blended? No salt on the rock, salt
on the rocks, No salt on the rocks, no salt.

Afternoon, catch me for an Instagram live on the Marcus
and Corey account, maybe even the It's Marcus d account.
I'm going to be demonstrating how to make a classic
margarita and you probably already have.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
The ingredients in your house.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Oh I'm sure.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
So I'm really doing it just to drink it. But
cool if you want to join this afternoon a teachable moment,
it's a teachable moment, So if at least single the
mile whatever you're doing today. It is Small Business Week
in San Francisco this week just a reminder there are
so many small businesses and frankly, a lot of them
are struggling right now, so like this is a good
week to give him a little boost because these are
the people that typically live in your neighborhood and support
(16:04):
your neighborhood. They're the ones that like support your kids
events and things like that, community events, and so yeah,
shop small definitely this week, especially in San Francisco. This
is going to be a headline you're going to see everywhere.
As the President has announced he would like to reopen
Alcatraz is a maximum security prison that seems like an
expensive well, it's been a museum since the seventies.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Like, it's not inhabitable.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
It's been shut down since sixty three.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
And and I was thinking, if you grew up in
the Bay and maybe you haven't been, because that's what
happens sometimes, you should probably.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Book your trip before it becomes a prison exest a.
Speaker 1 (16:43):

to me. I will keep you posted. We'll see what happens.

Good morning, and I'm hoping you guys can help.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Me understand you've been ghosted by your last date.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Unfortunately, yes I have, and I just don't understand it.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Sure, that's great.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
So her name is Karina. Thank you for them. How
did you guys meet? And then like, what did you
do for your date?
Speaker 5 (18:28):
Okay? So we met online, had a lot of great
chats and have a lot of shared interests, so we
decided we would go to the de Young on our
first date.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
And the mere knowledge of art how very cultured. That's
very Listen to this, okay.
Speaker 5 (18:45):
Can we tell you know from our conversations, I thought
this is going to be fun. It seemed to be,
you know, stuff that she liked, and her knowledge of
art and your passion for art was amazing.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Okay, you know, and it was.
Speaker 5 (18:57):
I thought the date was going really, really well. And
then we have great conversations about everything, and now she
just isn't answering the phone, and I don't know what happened.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Okay, she's ghosting, Yes, Corey, here's what I'm thinking.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Okay. So Golden Gate Park, right, yes, So when she's
leaving the park, she stumbles upon a treasure map and
she follows it through a series of caves and like

get close to me, it was just like like I
don't know, you know, when you've been around someone with
really bad breath, and it's just like I don't know if.
Speaker 8 (22:38):
He's normally liked that, but it was it was hard
to communicate.

a dentist appointment, right.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
I'll bring the hygienus with me just in case. Well,

humor about a Karina.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Tell me you liked him a little bit.

it'll make everything better.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
You can give them the signal if you're feeling you
give them the signal you can move in from.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
So we're getting doing news twice a morning. I don't
This is good news for one dude, but also could
be something for the rest of us. There's a guy
from Minnesota who recently discovered a three point eighty one
carrot brown diamond in the Arkansas Crater of Diamond State Park. Now,
we talked about this place a few times. You can
(25:20):
literally go there and it's finders keepers.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Yeah, I want to go to there.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
His name's David, And again, it's a brown diamond. So
he initially mistook it for a candy wrapper before realizing
he was actually a diamond with a metallic copper luster
and triangular shape.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
It's so cute he named it after his dog.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
I'm still trying to figure out how much something like
that is worth, because I am fascinated.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Yeah, this is quite the fine.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Hold on here, carry the room for ten seconds.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
So they say this is the two hundred and seventeenth
diamond found in twenty twenty five, and apparently the recent
rains have increased your likelihood of a surface. I'm in discoveries.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
That was the fun part.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
I mean, we need to get there, do some looking.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Oh hey, it's not giving me the answer I want.
All it's telling me is can't tell you. Oh general
price here we go on the low range two to
five k per carrot, so we're talking about seventy six
hundred and twenty grand. Okay, mid range could be nineteen
to thirty eight, so somewhere between seventy five hundred bucks
and fifty seven thousand dollars depending on the quality of
(26:28):
said diamond.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
That part, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
That's still that's still something found money. I'll take it. Yeah,
I would sell that at meat. I would fence that immediately.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
You would you wouldn't like turn into a piece of jewelry.
