Speaker 2 (00:11):
I'm good. I felt like I was really responsible this weekend.
Tell me So Saturday, I got up and I didn't
have any coffee or any food, so I could go
get my blood taken and fast.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
You know.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
So I was fasting so I could do the old
blood draw, which I've been I needed to do because
I've got a liver appointment coming up.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Okay, And then.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Before we left the house, I boxed up my coll
of Guard and dropped it off.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Wow you really are uh you got it all done
that morning? Huh.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I was like, I just want to be responsible for
adult adult and get this off my plate. And by
the way, when Cola Guard sends you a box, they
do not stop bugging you about it, emails, text messages.
Please return your box.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Well they know people are busy, I mean.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
But yeah, it's done. I've got an appointment tomorrow with
my doctor about my neck. I mean, I just feel
like I'm being an adult. But also it reminds me,
I'm very, very old.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I was gonna say all this liver talk and Couli
guard talk. I can't wait till my oat meals ready.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Oh and I'm going to tell you the results of
my mammogram today.

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Oh that's happening. Okay, let's put that down. I like,
what time you want to do that?

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I think you should be good news.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Okay, spoiler alert, All right, let's go seven forty. We'll
get a full update on that. She jammed that in
with the liver talk, the neck talk, and the collar
guard talk. Here's a box for you strong.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
This morning, I literally went into the UPS store and
I was like, Hi, I'm an embarrassing delivery.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
You told them what it was. You know what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
It's on the box.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Oh god, it's on the box. Those UPS people they've
seen some things.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
She was like, You're fine whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
I was responsible and irresponsible this weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
That doesn't surprise me.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
I was irrespons in that Friday night. I went to
the Dodgers Giants game, and I think I actively tried
to lose my voice. I was cheering so hard, like
inappropriately loud. Okay, they ended up winning that game. We
ended up getting on the jumbo tron. Thank you. One

(02:20):
of our coworkers saw me because she was there, and
she texted me. She goes, did I just see you
on the jumbo tron Singing party in the USA by
Miley Cyrus. Wow, arm in arm with your buddies.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Yeah, that was us okay. And then Saturday night I
was in Pacifica raising money for the Pacifica Resource Center.
I was the auctioneer and MC and it cut. It
was so much fun, sold out. We were at the
Farallahn Room at Skyline. Everybody who's anybody in Pacifica was there.
I met, I met city council, the mayor. Apparently I'm

(02:53):
an honorary Lion now the present the president of the
Lions Club. This is This was my kind of gangster moment.
He goes, he goes, did a good job, kid, He goes,
You welcome to come and drink with us at the
VFW and no the American Legion anytime you want.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Good for you.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Third Monday, third Monday of the month, come through.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
So I have been accepted in the city of Pacifica's great.
When I'm zooming way too fast by Rockway Beach I
don't feel too badly. I'm just kidding. Well, anyway, good morning,
so creeping up on six o'clock. We have tickets for
a fantastic comedy show Hannah Burner at the Masonic January

(03:32):
of next year, gonna get you a little date night going.
That's coming up with the trivia game at eight oh five,
and on the way next, they have drilled down the
true cost of the American Dream.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
This is what's really sad, is I feel like it's low.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Well that well, it's a half million dollars more expensive
than it was this time last year. I don't We're
not trying to depress anybody. No, this is just interesting numbers.
We'll talk about it at six fifteen. More variety from
the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's Star one
on one three, it's Marcus and Corey six point fifteen.
It might be a little early to make all of
our head spin off, but I'm going to do this

(04:06):
anyway because it's interesting to me. Okay, the American Dream
quote unquote now costs over five million dollars. What does
this mean exactly?

Speaker 2 (04:16):
Yeah, I was gonna say what exactly constitutes the American Dream?

Speaker 1 (04:19):
To be fair. There are a lot of caveats here.
One person's idea of the American dream may be different
than what I'm about to tell you. Number one, the
average cost of a wedding is now thirty eight two
hundred dollars. Nope, when I got married in two thousand
and twelve, it was twenty five. So now it's thirty eight.

(04:41):
Just FYI, I.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Feel like it was twenty when we were doing it.
When did you get married two thousand and eight?

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Okay, yeah, it's about right.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
That tracks And I just even then I thought that
was a lot.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Raising two kids and putting them through college is going
to cost you eight hundred and seventy six thousand dollars.
This includes six hundred and forty five thousand plus for
raising him for eighteen years, and then two hundred and
thirty thousand for four years in college for both kids. Now,
my point that assumes that your idea of the American
dream is having two kids. Like to me, this is

(05:16):
just very too traditional for me.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
It is a little traditional because you only have one
kid and I have.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
No kids, right, and you're living the dream. Well, you
know I'm living the dream.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
I have animals that cost money, but certainly not as
much as that.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
Oh, I'll get to that.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Corey.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Having two pets, caring for a cat and a dog
over their lifetimes, for example, will cost you about forty
thousand dollars. Is that light that feels light?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
It depends, It depends on how much.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
You know.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Our German shepherd was really expensive because he needed a
lot of training. But you know, depending on health issues.
You know, Buster, my boy, he had the personality of
a Ferrari and the body of a just a heard edsel.
So many medical issues. You never know, you know, when
you adopted, you never know what you're gonna get.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
So we're talking about the fact that so investipedia dot
com nailed down how much the quote unquote American dream costs,
and again it's a moving target. Your dream is different
than my dream. Yes, owning a home is going to
cost you about a million dollars over your lifetime. That's
way more here in the Bay. That's the national average.
That's almost laughable. The other thing they mentioned is that

(06:30):
the cost of the American dream has doubled over from
two years ago, mostly because this year they included the
cost of healthcare over your lifetime estimated lifetime healthcare cost
is going to be about four hundred and fourteen thousand.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
I mean, it's crazy because our insurance changed, and you know,
a prescription that I was getting for like four dollars
a month went up to twenty dollars a month. I mean,
there's just these little dings here and there, and it
hits you.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
And again. Here here's a part of the American dream.
I don't subscribe to. It says new cars every five years,
it's going to run you about nine hundred thousand dollars.
I am not that guy. I will I will buy
a car and run it into the ground.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Until the wheels fall off. Literally.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
My current vehicle is eleven years old, and I'm like,
can I squeeze this out for another decade? I don't know.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
Well. It also it depends on where you drive and
what you I mean, the potholes, Loane, I don't want
a nice car.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
The number of flats that I've got. I've got a
body shop on on speed dial, and I've got a
just a straight garage on speed dial. That's that's I mean,
that's great that you have to get. Yeah, drive into
the city. Finally, your retirement. It used to be one
point six mil. Now it's one point seven mil that

(07:54):
you have socked away for retirement in a perfect world
for the American dream quote unquote, we doing.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
I need a drink?

Speaker 3 (08:03):
All right?

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Alcohol budget in.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
There, right or variety from the two thousands, the nineties
and today it's Star one O one three. It's Marcus
and Corey Monday morning. Good morning, Hi. I know you're
not happy to be back to work. However, Harvard Happiness
Expert sharing quite a few things we can do to
be happier today.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Yes, these are great.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Oh they're fantastic.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
I mean, you can't go wrong when it's a prestigious school.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
These are going to put you in the right mindset.
Number one, keep your mind and your body active. You know,
I really want to get back to reading.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
I used to read all the time, and I don't anymore,
and I think it would be very good for me
to pick that back up.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
I find when I read, I pull out little nuggets
in the most opportune moments.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Like a fiction. Nonfiction.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Yeah, I like to read, like not self help necessary, Well,
you know, I guess they are self help, but like
how to be better, how to operate better, how to
maximize and optimize your existence. Sound like those kinds of books.
I like those too. And then anytime that I would
talk to my therapist if I was in a crummy mood,
she'd be like, did you exercise today? Equal?

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Did you exercise to keep your body active with.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Those endorphins going? I love this one. To be nice
to others.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Being nice to others, I mean you immediately feel better
about where you are in life.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
When I'm on Highway one and the traffic sucks and
somebody's trying to get in or get on the highway
and you slow down and you let them in, Dude,
it feels so good.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Yeah, it feels nice to be nice, and it doesn't
take much to be nice.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Spend your money on loved ones. I don't know about
this one.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
I believe in that in a sense, not lending money,
because if you lend someone money, just assume you're never
getting it better.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
That's a gift that's not alone.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
But if I can buy somebody lunch, sure, or buy
my husband a gift.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Sure.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Spending time with someone fills my cups and if I
got to pay for it, I'm okay with it.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Other ways to boost happiness check on your health status.
As long as as it's good news. I guess well,
if you.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Stay on top of it, you know it prevents care.
Is good care?

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Another nod for physical activity, I'll move on join a club.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Now, if I joined a book club, i'd have to.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Read exactly like minded individuals go out in nature. Apparently
forest bathing is good for your happiness, Corey, I love nature.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
I don't want to call it forest bathing with my
big dumb cup.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Give back and be generous. I'm gonna put this right
up there with be nice to others. It's kind of
the same thing.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
It's kind of the same thing. But be generous. Maybe
you pay it for it. Maybe buy that person coffee
who's behind you in line.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Yeah, like, I did a gig over the weekend. At
the PACIFICA Resource Center. They provide basic needs for low
income families for a hundred bucks. What can you and
I do? I don't even think that pays for dinner out?
Oh right, God, But at the Pacific A Resource Center,
that's food for a family for a week. See, that's great.
One hundred bucks. And finally, I don't know how I
feel about this one. Build connections with colleagues outside of work.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
I mean, there's a limit to it.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
I don't know if I want to know what some
people here doing. They're off time, and frankly, I feel
like this is a hotbed for complaining.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Well, I think you have to find the person that
you have the most in common and are on the
same page. If you don't have to go with everybody
you work with, maybe pick a select one, two three, maybe.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
What it's so? Oh the boss suggested you and I
go out to dinner one Wednesday. I was like, dude,
I just spend nine hours with her. I know you
think we want to sit across the table from each
other and chat. That's what we do for work.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
I would do that.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
I would do a meal with you. You turd me too?

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Whatever?

Speaker 1 (11:24):
All right, easy ways to boost happiness. There you go.
A variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today.
It's Star one on one three, It's Marcus and Corey.
It's Monday, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
This is what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
It's what's trending on Star one, one three.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
What's happening in entertainment news, the biggest stories of the day,
and everything people are talking about today in the bab The.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Emmys were last night and hosted by Nate Bargatesey. In
his monologue, he shared that he'd be donating one hundred
thousand dollars to the Boys and Girls Club of America,
but for every second over forty five seconds that a
winner went over in speech, a thousand would be detucted
from the donation, which made some people cringe because they
highlighted it through the show, and then at the end

(12:07):
of the show he announced he was donating three hundred
and fifty thousand.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
That's a good dude. Yeah, he's gonna be here next July.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
In it very funny.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
You get some tickets.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
The Pit won Emmy for Best Drama, as well as
a bunch of other awards. The Studio one for Outstanding
Comedy Series and became the most ordered comedy ever at
Emmy's with thirteen wins. Noah Wiley won for Outstanding Lead
Actor for The Pit, Britt lower one for Outstanding Lead
Actress in Severance, Gene Smart one again for her series

(12:40):
Hacks seth Rogen won for Outstanding Lead Actor, and Stephen Cobert,
whose show was recently canceled, was met with a standing ovation.
He came out with a resume and said now that
I have your attention as anyone hiring. His show end
up winning for Outstanding Talk Series. Later in the night,
Nice a lot of fun outfits, kind of some weird outfits.

(13:01):
Jenner Ortego was wearing basically just jewels and a skirt
reminiscent of Isabella Rosselini's character and death becomes her If
you know, you Know. A Federal judges rejected Justin Baldoni's
attempt to depose Taylor Swift in the upcoming trial over
Blake Lively's sexual harassment and retaliation claims. The judge ruled
that Baldoni's team waited too long and failed to show

(13:23):
good cause, though he granted Lively in extra ten days
to depose Baldonian others. His lawyer claimed Swift had agreed
to testify, but Swiss lawyer says, nope, she did not
agree to a deposition, so she might not have anything
to do with it.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
And she went to the game on Sunday, but she
made sure not to be seen. They had very interesting
like partitions and things down the hallway, so you couldn't
even see her walking down the hallway.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Which is kind of weird. Because she was really out
there previous seasons.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
I think she's just over it. I think she wants
to support her man and leave the like. I get it.
She's very famous. She should still be able to leave
the house.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
She just doesn't probably want to make it about her.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Probably there is speculation there's a baby bump, but I
am not. No, we're not getting into that. No. We
all know about some emotional support animals, dogs, cats, pot
billy pigs, an occasional squirrel. But there was an emotional
support alligator that was banned from a wal Mart in Pennsylvania. Now, Corey,
you grew up in Florida. How would you feel if

(14:28):
you saw an emotional support alligator?

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Is there a band around his mouth?

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Okay, that would be important, right.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Uh yeah, I'm I mean, we just always learned to
keep our distance from gators, you know, you just didn't
mess with them because they'd be sunning on golf courses
or by lakes, running a zig zag in case they
start chasing you. But I think someone who has an
emotional support alligator is just trying to go viral.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
That's the pro tip, by the way, that I learned
from Corey when she first got here. Like those of
us who grew up in California, we learned what to
do in case of an earth quake. Corey would learn
what to do in grade school in case of analidator
alligator chase.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
They can run really fast, but they got stubby legs
so they can't zigzag, so you you get a serpentine man.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
This is the pro content that you need listening to
this show. Let's see, it's National Double Cheeseburger Day. National.
Before I leave, National Double Cheeseburger Day, there is a
pull up on the Marcus and Corey Instagram. Oh sorry, no,
it's at Star one on one three FM. Yes, what
are the choices?

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Are you classic? Just like catchup cheese pickles? Are you
a spicy? You're gonna throw some pepper jack on there?
Are you throwing onion rings and barbecue sauce on there?
Or are you doing a triple stack?

Speaker 1 (15:40):
All sounds fantastic. That's up on the Marcus and Corey
excuse me, Star one one three FM instagram and the
stories you can participate also the National Linguini Day and
then if you have a neonatal nurse in your life,
give them a shout out. Today today is their day.
Thank you to the nurses in the neonatal department who
for doing what you do. We appreciate you. Yeah, go
to sports really quick. Giants drop two out of three

(16:02):
to the Dodgers. I don't think we're mathematically eliminated from
the playoffs quite yet. Okay, next game is gonna be
in Arizona, six to forty first pitch tonight, Go Giants.
The Valkyries did lose their first game in the playoffs
to the Minnesota Lynx yesterday one on one to seventy two.
Was the final. Next game is gonna be Wednesday at
SAP not Chase Center. There is a scheduling conflict with

(16:24):
a with a big tennis tournament, so they will be
playing at SAP on Wednesday. Tip off on that game
seven o'clock. Let's go Valkyries. And then the Niners, who
did beat the Saints over the weekend twenty six to
twenty one on Sunday. Kind of a nail bier. Yeah,
our backup quarterback looked really good. Next game Sunday home
opener against Arizona, kickoff eight twenty five Pacific. Let's go

(16:46):
Nithers best. What'sl catch?

Speaker 2 (16:49):
What's trending every weekday Morning on the fifties, six fifty
seven fifty at eight fifty am.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
In connecs Now with Marcus and Corey everywhere at start
one O one three, and I'm Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Poor variety from the two thousand nineties and to day
it's star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey
back with its second date update. What's happening? It is
not easy date? Well, hang on, girl, hang on.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
She's eager. She's eager. It's not easy to date these days,
and so we do this, try and help you snag
a second date.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Okay, Sophia, it's your turn.

Speaker 6 (17:26):
Hi, Hi, what are you doing?

Speaker 3 (17:29):
You good?

Speaker 6 (17:31):
I'm calling you guys.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
I know we want to get to your date with Leo.
I understand you. Guys met on Hinge and I realize
as I'm reading he's ghosted. So let's fill in the
blanks for me. What did you do on your date?
Because we're going to want to call him and figure
out what's going on.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Yeah, I'm confused. We left for cocktails in Berkeley, h
so like easy, Like drinks were great. At the end,
he walks to my car, so I was like Okay, yeah,
and I thought that he was into it, but he ghosted?

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Simple?

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (18:09):
So everything went smoothly, no hiccups.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
I know you've replayed this a few times in your head.
You can't think of anything that might have gone wrong.

Speaker 6 (18:18):
I don't know. I mean, I thought it was just
like really nice.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Okay, here's what I'm thinking.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
He has gone off on a family outing to Vegas,
and you know, everybody's having all these misadventures, and he
starts losing money at blackjack, you know, like lots and
lots and lots of money, and so he has to
figure out how he can get the family back together
and stay out of trouble, make some money.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Back Christmas vacation, You're stupid. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
They went to Vegas. They had a vacation in Vegas.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Vegas vacation. Is that a movie?

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (19:01):
All right, we have to move on. I don't think
Sophia knows what's going on. Sophia, never mind, never mind,
let's let let's call on. We're gonna we're gonna call
Leo and try to figure out why he ghosted, and
we're gonna have you on the line. Okay, can you
sit tight for like four minutes. Yeah, okay, we'll do it.
Next Second Date Update Star one O one three more
variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today Star

(19:22):
one O one three. It's Marcus and Corey in the
middle of Second Date Update. We are chatting with Sophia
bout a date with Leo. They hooked up for some
cocktails in Berkeley. Easy. Yeah, easy, Pasy and Sophia, you
said he walked you to your car. I mean this
sounds like it worked out all right? Yeah okay. We

(19:43):
even made her like audit the date in her head.
We can't think of anything that might have gone wrong.
Go ahead and mute. Let's call him and try to
figure some things out. I want to get you a
second date, so let's give this a shot. Here we go.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
Hello, I may.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
Speak with Leo please to see who's this. Hi Leo,
It's Marcus and Corey from Star one on one three.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
Hello, Hey, what do you guys up to?

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (20:11):
My god, just chilling?

Speaker 6 (20:13):
Yo.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Do you listen to the show?

Speaker 3 (20:17):
I do? I do.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Hey, So we're doing Second Date update right now? Do
you know what that is?

Speaker 3 (20:23):
Oh? Yeah, of course I know what's second Yay?

Speaker 1 (20:27):
On the plus fan.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
So we're yeah, you're cool if you're on second date
up date with us.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Yeah, that's fine. I know who you're talking about.

Speaker 7 (20:38):
Yeah yeah, Well, I mean there's a little limited amount
of suspects it could be, so I take it.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
Sofia's on the phone.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Yes, sir, Yes, Sophia say hello, Hi, all right, hey,
So I'm going to talk about her like she's not here.
Sophia really liked you.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
She like you, Yeah, no, where are you ghost I'm
assuming you're ghosting.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
So here's what happened.

Speaker 8 (21:08):
I just I feel like she came on a little
little strong, uh, you know, and and some dudes turn
into that, so be it. But she was going like
one hundred miles an hour right from the start, right
to elaborate tails. Okay, So she was like, you know,
telling the bartender like, hey, listen, I'm gonna need you

(21:29):
to make these drinks really strong, like we're trying to
trying to get a little crazy real quickly.

Speaker 3 (21:36):
Uh. And then she just leans over and whispers in
my ear like I'm not wearing any kind of and
she didn't sound bad. I feel like I sounded creepy
when I said it.

Speaker 7 (21:46):
Creep yeah, yeah, yeah, and then she like reached over
and grabbed my thigh and it was like, oh, you know,
there's just.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Something about it. It was like, this seems like she
does with everybody, you know, I don't know, maybe worried.

Speaker 8 (22:02):
About catching something, she ask a dessert and head back
to my place.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Well, she does this with everybody.

Speaker 8 (22:09):
Like I just kind of felt like we should begetting
to know each other, maybe, you know, asking some like
you know, what are your interests, questions, and not just
like trying to speed it.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Up, you know, to get straight to the action.

Speaker 6 (22:23):
I guess I kind of feel like I'm being shamed
a little bit.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Not at all love it.

Speaker 6 (22:28):
I just think kind of stream matters, you.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Know, no in your game at all.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
Okay, well then I don't. I don't see why women
can't be bold and take initiative.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
And that's why I feel the shame is because like
I try to be bold, I try to take initiative.

Speaker 7 (22:47):
Men do it all the time.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
It really is a double standard, it is, And so
I don't know, this is just frustrating to me.

Speaker 8 (22:54):
You're not being picky at all, and you're just like,
all right, let's go back to my place.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
How do I know you haven't done this with every.

Speaker 9 (23:02):
Dude, or like, look, I don't do this with everybody. Okay,
I was forward because I liked you. Don't assume that
I'm around just doing this with all these girls.

Speaker 6 (23:13):
I could assume the same thing about guys that are forward,
you know, but you don't make assumptions like that.

Speaker 9 (23:19):
That's not fair.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
I just realized I might be the original second date
update because back earlier on in my career when I
was dating, I used the radio show to talk about
a night where maybe I went a little too far
and he was ghosting. Uh huh, and he heard it
and we went on a second date.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
Oh, because all your boyfriends listen to your show because
you're so amazing. Oh or some of may have told
him who heard it because everybody was listening to the show.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Would you shut up? You're sucking all the steamenuts. What
I'm saying is I'm aligning with Sophia. I get it.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
I hear you.

Speaker 6 (23:48):
So look, I mean, now that I think about it,
I'm realizing, like, Okay, maybe you're not my man because
I need someone who's going to be a man.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
All right, sounds good to me. Can I go on.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Wow, Yes, I would like to go as well. Hang
on Second Date Update. It's seven oh five Weekday Mornings.
That was the replay at nine oh five. You got
the podcast as always. It's on the iHeartRadio app. You
can download, you can subscribe. It's Marcus and Corey's Second
Date Update and more variety from the two thousands, the

(24:20):
nineties and today. It's Star one on one three. It's
Marcus and Corey seven to twenty three. Good morning Hello.
So if decluttering has you overwhelmed, and this happens got
it happened to me over the weekend kind of you
look at stuff and you go, oh god, I don't
even want to get into that. Yeah, there's a three
step process, just three feeling overwhelmed by clutter. Three simple tricks.

(24:41):
So I don't know if it's a process, but it's
definitely tricks.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
Trick number one, categorize everything, and they don't have to
be final categories. These feel very hmmm, well here category
number one items that belong elsewhere, items that should go
in the trash, and then items you're not quite ready
to decide about, and that's okay.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
You can also have a pile of donate right.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
That's another good one as well. For the last group,
which is items you are not ready to decide about.
Now this gets this is a slippery slope, says, Place
them in a box, write the date on it, and
store it out of sight. And then this lady, who
is a professional organizer, says, I often tell clients that
if six months passes and you haven't used or even
thought about those items, there's your answer.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
That's the thing. When we're moving, we've moved a lot.
I look at something, I'm like, if I touched this
in the last year, No, okay, bye bye.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
But sometimes I fight this as anybody else fight this.
You never know, Urge, It's just stuff. It's just stuff.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Like I got rid of a pair of shoes that
would have been great for the big day on the
bay because they were very y two K and that
was our theme. But I was like, whatever, I'll find
something else.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
Another way to not be overwhelmed by clutter, remember your
why when you're digging through a pile of old clothes
shoes in Corey's situation, or you're looking at those expiration
dates on the bottles of sunscreen, remember the reason why
you are decluttering. The forefront of your mind to get
through it faster. You might be decluttering because you want

(26:21):
to feel a certain way. Decluttering gives you clarity, Yes,
helps your mind relax a little bit.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
I guess so overwhelmed when I go downstairs into our garage,
which is also Jeff's office and has a bar, right,
and this was put in by the previous owners, and
it's a legit bar, but it has so much stuff
in it, and I don't know what to keep or
to get rid of, and so I usually just walk away.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
That happened to me too when I was taking care
of my dad and he finally passed in my in laws,
my wife's brother and his wife came and helped me
clear out his in law unit.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
It mm hm.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
And at some point, you know, she's pulling those old
jackets and stuff he used to wear all the time,
and I wasn't quite ready to get rid of them.
That's and she goes, hey, it's okay, we'll just put
these in a box. Yeah, you let me know what
you want to do. And then finally, and this is
the most powerful one. When you're trying to declutter, move
on without regret, don't feel guilty about tossing something that
you spent money on, especially to Corey's point, if you

(27:24):
haven't used it in six months to a year.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
Just stuff. I remember it got easier and easier after
my well, my mom passed away. I kept everything, you know,
everything that I could, and then as we moved, I
was like, Okay, this is not in good shape or
this doesn't I have plenty of memories from her, and
so it just it gets easier over time to get
rid of that stuff.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
I know we have a lot of people listening that
are really good at decluttering. It might be your thing.
I don't know. Uh, if you have any tips that
you want to share, please, what's your trick? It's one
of our favorite subjects.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
I hate clutter. You give me anxiety when you like,
you'll get stuff in here and we don't have a
lot of storage and you'll just put it in a
chair and it'll sit there for three years, just like
that thing over there. Yeah that's been there.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
We're doing this right now. Yeah, I make my wife crazy.
I know, hard to believe, right, Yeah, if you have
any pro tips on decluttering, share one. Maybe you read something,
maybe you've got something that works for you. You can
use the talk back on the iHeartRadio app that little
red microphone. It's Star one on one three. It's Marcus
and Corey. It is Monday. Is it Monday? It is Monday?

Speaker 6 (28:32):
Right?

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Why did I blank out on that? Just now? Any
more choices? Eight forty? You know what time it is.
It's time for good news with Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 5 (28:45):
Sometimes all you need is the one a good thought
to make it a great day.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
So let's do this.

Speaker 5 (28:50):
It's good news on Star one on one three.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
Quite a few festivities over the weekend, that's on me. Anyway, Hey,
we have some personal good news to share. I'm so
happy for my friend Corey. You had a mammogram last week.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
I did, and it's a very important thing you should
definitely do, especially if it runs in your family. But
my mother and her mother both had breast cancer, right
and I'm past the age when mom was first diagnosed,
so that's that's a positive. But I got my results back.
And by the way, I want to give a shout
out to Andrea who was my nurse the mammogram, and

(29:27):
she was efficient. She had me out of there in
like ten minutes.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Is this UCSF. Yes, the Parnassis Division Mission Bay. Yeah,
Mission Bay, different, different neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
She was awesome and I got my results and I'm
free and.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
Clear, love it, no worries.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
That's a good feeling.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Yeah. And we were always big proponents of I mean,
obviously Corey more than me because you relate more to it.
But uh, getting everything checked out on a regular basis
is important.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
It was a heck of a weekend. I'm not gonna lie.
I did a couple of things. I fasted so I
could do some blood work. Yeah, and then a drop
mcula guard box off. You were very responsible checking everything out.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
So let's just augment the good news. Ask Corey was
super responsible this weekend. Preventative maintenance is key yea for
all of the things.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Early detection is key too, anyway.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Eight forty two, congratulations, by the way, that's czy you.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
It's Peace of Mind.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today.
It's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey
a time to play the bass favorite trivia game. It's
called What You Know About That.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
We've got a pair of tickets to see Hannah Berner

of Live Nation. Those tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.

Speaker 6 (30:59):

Speaker 1 (31:01):

Speaker 5 (31:06):

Speaker 6 (31:07):
I'm a teacher and I've got my daughter with me
who's in fourth grade.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Excellent. What is her name?

Speaker 6 (31:13):
Maryelle?

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Maryelle? Welcome you guys, Maryelle. Can I ask you a question?
What's it like to have your mom as a teacher
at your school?

Speaker 5 (31:21):
It's fun?

Speaker 1 (31:22):
You like it? Okay?

Speaker 6 (31:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Could be worse. Could be high school. My dad taught
at my high school. I was really popular, you guys,

back to the question if we have time left. Okay, okay,

all four hemispheres of the Earth? Asia? And what was
the name of the pig in the book Charlotte's Web
oilber Okay, just under the wire? Wrong work, Hang on
the line for me, all right. Christy goes on hold

(32:45):

up Erica in Menlo Park.

Speaker 2 (32:48):

Speaker 3 (32:50):

Speaker 5 (32:58):

Speaker 5 (33:02):
I'm going to pass her now.

Speaker 2 (33:03):

Speaker 2 (33:30):
What's the name of the pig in the book Charlotte's Web? Okay,

Speaker 6 (33:45):
I can picture her head there now.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Hang on the line for all right, Christy comes back

Erica in Menlo Park. Question number one, What supermodel was
once married to Rod Stewart?

Speaker 2 (33:59):

Speaker 1 (34:03):

Both Christy and Erica said Asia, it's actually Africa.

Speaker 1 (34:31):
And what is the name of the pig in the
book Charlotte's Web.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
Both Christy and Erica said Wilburd that is correct. Our
winner is Erica three to two.

Speaker 1 (34:39):

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
