The Tinkerbell Effect: The gist? Belief itself can make things real. In the original tale, Tinker Bell only survives if people believe in her.
Psychologists have borrowed this idea to explain how belief can shape our reality…not just in Neverland, but in everyday life. From confidence boosts to better mental health, your mindset may hold more power than you think. Of course, like any kind of magic, the Tinker Bell effect needs to be used wisely. But when applied thoughtfully, it can be downright transformative.

We broke up, can I keep his mom? Jordan on Instagram DMs writes: My ex and I broke up over a year ago, but his mom and I stayed close. Every couple of weeks we meet for coffee, text about books, and she even invited me to her birthday brunch. My ex just found out and flipped, saying I’m crossing a line. But honestly, she feels like family to me, and we never even talk about him. Is it wrong to stay friends with her, or does breaking up with someone mean breaking up with their family too?

Second Date Update: Chris calls us to see if we can connect with Julie. They met at a networking event in SF recently and really hit it off! Lots of texting and funny banter and they FINALLY had dinner a couple weeks ago. Everything was going so smoothly (and he rarely dates so this is a big deal for him) and in the middle of dinner she said she "wasn't feeling well" and left abruptly. He followed up that night on text....no word back. Was it something he said about her daughter?

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Hey, more variety from the two thousands, the nineties,
and today it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus
and Corey five point fifty seven right before six. Good morning, Hi,
how are you Corey.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I'm okay.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Yeah, I didn't sleep a lot last night and I
didn't eat a lot. It's like the third Monday in
a row where I'm like having issues.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
The Mondays are bad for your health.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
It really is, dude.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
I was like eating butter crackers, you know. Just my
husband went to the doctor and it was just kind
of jarring. Yeah, and I didn't feel like he really
got a solution yesterday. Right, we're tackling the old high
blood pressure. He's been having issues with his knees ever
since towards ACL fifteen years ago.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Right, So you have to know this about Corey. She
feels for everyone all the time.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
Well, that's my husband. I'm worried about it.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
No, well especially the Jeff. But I've seen you worry
for your best friend Kim. I've seen you worry for
your dad. I've seen you worry you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
I just I take it in and like at one
point I looked at him, I go, I really want
to listen to everything you're saying right now.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
But there's a good chance I'm gonna bar.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Anybody else get like this.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
And it was like last night, it was like my
head movies wouldn't turn off while I was trying to sleep.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
You have to explain head movies really quick.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Just weird dreams that don't stop. It's like that real
starts going and then you're like, hey, look it's ten minutes. Oh,
another ten minutes went by.

Speaker 1 (01:22):
It's like you close your eyes, you're trying to sleep,
but your brain starts a sitcom in your head. Right
about all the things.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Yeah, otherwise I'm good.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Other than that, I love.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, we've been doing something fun.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
We've been watching all the Conjuring movies because a new
Conjuring movie is coming out.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
I gotta watch something funny after that.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
It's not my jam, but it sounds fun for you.
I went to my first sports banquet last night. I
was telling Corey off the air, my child is a
big sports person.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
That's cool.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
So she's gonna be eleven. And she was in volleyball
and basketball, soccer, tennis. She did not was and she's
not interested in soccer. And my wife coached, and I
had two funny two two moments. One of them was
funny and the other one sort of I'll be honest
with you. I sort of teared up last night.

Speaker 5 (02:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
So the funny one was my wife is a coach.
He detests public speaking. She is the complete antithesis of me.
I've seen her public speak one time. She was had
to give a bridesmaid speech at a wedding ten years ago.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
That's the last time.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
So she's an assistant coach on the volleyball team and
she neither she nor the head coach want to public speak.
So they were basically drawing straws about who was going
to go up and say something about the team, and
she didn't have to, and they acknowledged her from the stage,
and so I literally stood up and pointed at her
head because she would not acknowledge.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
You torture her. She does not want that.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
But the one that made me tear up was, so
this is my first sports banquet because I did not
play sports. Obviously with my condition, I have cerehral. But
to see my child in the front row wearing her
sport volleyball sweatshirt with my name on the back was
just like.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
It's hard to get flugel Binder all the way on
the back and I'm shirt it was it's not my
last name, It's not No, it was.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Just really cool, man. I don't know, You're like, I
don't even and I don't even leave live by care.
I know if some parents are accused of living vicariously
through their kids and their accomplishments. I just ruined on
hard and I'm just proud to see my last name
on the back of her sweatshirt, get a sports banquet, something,
something that hasn't been done for a generation, You know

(03:42):
what I mean? Anyway, All right, six am. Lots going
on this morning. More tickets for Big Time Russian Conquered.
That show's coming up in August. We're gonna get you
set up with a trivia game called what you know
about that? And coming up next I've already forgotten. Doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
Are we talking about boomers or are we talking about.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
It's gonna be so okay. I found some things that
finally the generations agree on. It says weird Boomers and
gen z agree these things must go.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
You wouldn't let me read it ahead of time.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
We're going to give them to Corey and then well
let's see if you agree. That's at six fifteen in
the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's Star one
on one three, it's Marcus and Corey Tuesday, good morning,
Good morning. I think I finally found something that all
the generations can agree on. And this is great. We're
so used to discussing what baby boomers and Gen X
are in the Gen Z and millennials are not. Grandma

(04:39):
quit doing this, and Dad needs to quit doing this, Judge,
and you kids need to work harder. We're finally in agreement.
These are things that both boomers and Gen Z agree
need to go. Corey, are you ready? I am totally
ready because Corey hates the fact that we fight all
the time.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Just everybody so judging everybody else. We all grew up
in different times.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Number One alone, thing that needs to go. Over priced
concert tickets, Oh, totally dealt with that. Monthly subscriptions streaming.
I think so I think we need to get things back.
You know, I'm still holding onto my CDs. I don't
even know why. If I buy something, I want to
own it. I don't want to own the right to
use it when I want it. Because what if it
goes away? What if your company goes under and then

(05:20):
the stuff's not available anymore?

Speaker 2 (05:22):
That it doesn't happen, because I have a lot of
movies in and I worry about that too.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
But CDs, I mean cars don't come with CD players.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
No more terrible. I just got to get rid of them.
Spam calls and texts need to go.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
I cannot believe some of the lists that I am
on for these because I will write back off, how
did you get my number? Because the message that they're
sending me is not aligned with my views whatsoever?

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Oh like you get a political text?

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yes, I don't know how I got on that list.
I don't like it. Get out of my face.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
You know, they get shadier and shadier, the spam calls
and text because it'll go from a direct spam where
they're like, hey, I'm a recruiter for blah blah blah,
and we notice that you're qualified for blah blah blah,
and I know that's a lie because I'm not qualified
to do anything right all the way to hey are
we still going out next week? And you're like what who?

Speaker 5 (06:13):
Who?

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Who?

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Is this all right? Other things that boomers and gen
Z agree need to go QR code restaurant menus.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
I don't like that either. I missed that.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
I mean, I know it went a wait during the pandemic,
but you know, Mama got to pull out her readers.
She got to pull the font up. You can't see
the whole menu.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
The reason I go to restaurants because I don't want
to do anything.

Speaker 3 (06:33):
No, I want the restaurant experience. I want you to
wait on me. That drives you crazy when you want
to go somewhere we got to order the counter. I'm like, nope,
I'll do to wait on me. Hey for the right shwarma.
I will go to the counter and I'll take the
number and I'll go sit down. Heck, I'll eat on
a corner on the curb for the right food.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
I believe you, but I do not want to sit
down at a restaurant that's going to charge me full
fare and have to look at a QR coded menu.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Do you what else? I want to go away?

Speaker 3 (06:59):
I'm with you to stop running my card at the
table and watching me do your tip.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Well, most of them look away. What are they supposed
to do?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
I've had them stare me in the eye while I'm
filling that thing out.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Well, that is a that is a test of your willpower.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Well, I always tip twenty percent.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
I mean you literally would have to just throw my
food in my face for me to not tip twenty percent.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
We're talking about things that generations agreed need to go.
Pointless meetings that could have been emails. Yes, influencer content
needs to go. That one's interesting to me. I thought
we were trending.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
The other direction that was that generation.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
But here's the problem is there are so many liars out,
so many people on the take.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
I don't believe anything anymore.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
No, not on the internet. I didn't even know this
was a thing. People say that shame around changing careers
needs to go.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Shame around changing careers?

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Is that a thing?

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Well, there was a lot of people who stopped doing
one thing during the pandemic, like your friend Pete's pickles.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
He was a trainer, couldn't do that anymore during the pandemic,
So we started making pickles out of Pleasant Hill. My
hair phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Yeah, and my hairstylist she quit doing hair and started
a online magazine.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
I'm going to end it there because I am interested.
Is there actually shame around changing careers. Has anybody experienced shame?
If you're listening right now and you have experienced quote
shame around changing careers, I'd love to hear your story.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
No, it is just shamey for that. That's terrible.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
So rebirth, you're a phoenix rising from the ashes. Hey,
this just with a talkback if you don't mind. It's
the little red microphone on the iHeartRadio app. If you're
streaming Star one one three right now, you can leave
us a message. Well variety from the two thousands, the nineties,
and today it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus
and Corey. Good morning, Hello another day. Another cutesy term
for the Internet, the tinker Bell effect. Psychologists swear by it.

(08:39):
They say it can help you be more independent. But
it's a double edged sword right down. So let's weigh
out what it means, what the benefits are, and then
we will get into what to be careful of.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
So psychologists have barred this idea to explain how belief
can shape our reality. Yes, like everyday life, from confident
boosts to mental health. Your mindset may hold more power
than you think. I've always felt like I know you
don't believe in this stuff, but like manifesting. I wrote
a list of what I wanted in a guy and
it was back and forth two pages, and then then

(09:13):
I met Jeff.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
I do believe that if you put your mind to
something and all of your resources, that you can accomplish it.
I do believe that.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
So the benefits of the Tinkerbell effect more autonomy over
your life. Believing in your power to shape outcomes, helps
you step out of victim mode.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
I think that's powerful. Steady progress to your goals, believing
that everything you do is a GPS to where you
want to be, Increase confidence and resilience because you realize
I do have the ability to handle whatever life throws
at me.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
And better mental health, which I think we're all looking
for now. There are some pitfalls to watch out for,
though false hope belief is powerful, but it shouldn't blind you.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
I feel like this basically means just because you want
it to happen doesn't mean it will, And don't keep
banging your head against the wall right. If it's not working,
either try a different tact or move to a different
goal right, because this can lead to what they call
self delusion. There are a lot of situations where, no
matter how hard you work, if you don't have the

(10:15):
talent to get where you want to be and doing
the thing that you want to do, you may have
to try a different thing.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
And forgetting to actually do stuff. Belief is the spark,
big one, not the engine. Wishing and hoping won't get
you far without real world action.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
How many times last week did you and I in
our business here somebody go, yeah, dude, I'm thinking about
starting a podcast. Uh, yeah, dude, I'm thinking about d Yeah, man,
I want to do stand up. Hey, bro, Yeah, I'm
thinking about I'm the worst words I can hear. Yeah, man,
I'm really thinking about blah blah blah blah blah. But
how do it? How are you going to do it?

Speaker 3 (10:47):
So tips to use the tinker bell effect Wisely anchor
belief in who you are and just what you want.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Right, make sure this actually resonates with you.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Hang out and belief boosting spaces.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
You want to surround yourself with people in places that
reflect your potential.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
My mom used to say that hang out with groups
of people that are smarter and better than you are.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
Match belief with action and awareness. Belief is the launch pad,
but you still have to fly the plane.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
This was a lot of info.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
It is.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
How do we distill it down? Basically, believe in yourself, but.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
You also have to work at it.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
Yes, that's the key. Actually get started. All right, we're
out here saving lives, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
We are.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Or something. Hopefully this helps you through your week. We
appreciate you having us on at Star one on one three.
Good morning.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
This is what I'm talking about.

Speaker 6 (11:34):
It's what's trending on Star on, what's happening in entertainment news,
the biggest stories of the day and everything people are
talking about today in the Babe, this.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Seqel series The Paper has officially gotten its premiere window.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
It's going to be on Peacock in September.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
And basically what this is is it's just like The
Office where you've got a documentary crew following around like
they did in the dunder Mifflin original series. They're following
a Toledo newspaper called The Truth Teller and the publishers
trying to revive it.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
Good luck. Yeah, I mean your dad was in newspapers
for how long?

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Thirty years? Yeah, and that was a long time ago.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Sounds like a white Knuckler for sure.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
It really is.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Wicked is getting a concert special because we haven't seen
them enough.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
You don't have to worry about getting tickets because it's
coming to a screen near you.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Is it still mad?

Speaker 6 (12:28):
Bro?

Speaker 3 (12:29):
It's just every time I turn around, I think we're
taking a breath.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
In your face.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
The director has shared that a live concert featuring Ariana
Grande and Cynthia Arriva will take place in November and
air the next day on NBC and Peacock. They will
perform songs from the first movie, maybe a little bit
from the second one, because the second Wicked, comes out
November twenty first, this concert will be before that, So.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
We're gonna go from Wicked to Wicked to Wicked? Is
that what we're doing?

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Wicked? Wicked, Wigged?

Speaker 1 (12:57):
And then don't forget this is cool. Cynthia Orrivo is
gonna be starring in a Dracula one woman show in London.
I thought that was neat.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
That's incredible.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Yeah, that's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Now we're asking you to take our poll on the
Star's Instagram account because the new trend this summer seems
to be dirty sodas. Yes, like doctor pepper and pickle juice. Well,
this one is coffee maate an orange crush, so there's
no coffee involved. You can either use orange crush or

(13:27):
coffee maate and soda. Okay, so you want the orange
cream pop flavored creamer and you mix it with soda
or sparkling water, so you're making a creamsickle soda.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Right.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
So the coffee maate, the liquid coffee maate, is the
one that is flavored like cream orange soda.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Right. Does that sound good to you?

Speaker 5 (13:47):
No?

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Okay, not at all.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
I'm not a big orange person like I like orange juice,
but I never got into the whole.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Orange Julius thing.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
I loved orange Julius as a kid, I just as
an adult with diabetes, I can't sugar with that stuff,
sugar free version. I might tip a cap too. Okay,
what do I have for you? HiT's Top Gun Day Today.
The movie was released in nineteen eighty six. Oh my god,
now it is May thirteenth. The movie was originally released

(14:16):
on May sixteenth. The reason that it's celebrated on May
thirteenth is because May sixteenth is what they call Iron
Eagle Day. And then he did not want to disrespect
Iron Eagle Day. And also, I guess the early iterations
of the movie poster actually posted the release date erroneously.
They posted it as May thirteenth. Okay, so here we

(14:37):
are on top Gun Day.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Maybe I'll have to watch it again.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
That's such a good movie. Uh. If you're a big
Disney fan. The Disneyland Resort has released an album today.
It's called Music from the Disneyland Resorts seventieth Celebration, honoring
the theme park's seventieth anniversary. A lot of hitters, Jonas
Brothers are on this album. Boys to Men are on
this album. If you're a Pentatonics fan, Scotty from Pentatonics

(15:00):
is on there quite a bit. He's very talented, looks
like something I would actually get into. So yeah, again,
if you're a Disney fan, their album is out today.
The Mayor's office here in San Francisco just announced a
set of concerts by Dead End Company. Now I realize
grateful Dead not necessarily in our format. However, bands massive,
they're legendary. They came up here in San Francisco. It's

(15:22):
the sixtieth anniversary. A series of three ticketed shows at
the Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park. Your dates August one, two,
and three. I don't have any ticket purchasing info yet,
but we will certainly keep you posted.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
OK.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
And it's dead in company, so it's the three surviving
members plus like John Mayer tours with them regularly, so
you might see him pop through. I can't imagine he wouldn't.
And again, ticket info as it becomes available for all
you dead heads sports. The Warriors lost a tough playoff
game last night without Steph Curry again. This was at
Chase Center. Final score to Minnesota was one seventeen to

(15:58):
one to ten. Next game is a month to win.
Game five. Situation is tomorrow night in Minnesota. If they
don't win, they go home, which makes.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
Me wonder if Steph Corey will suit up.

Speaker 5 (16:08):
He may.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
We'll see what happens. Tip off at six thirty, Go
do best, What's best, What's guts, what's trending? Every weekday
morning on the fifties. That's six fifty seven, fifty eight,
fifty AM and.

Speaker 7 (16:21):
Connection now with Marcus and Corey everywhere at Star one,
O one three FM and at Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
Totally forgot we got fresh content posted to the Marcus
and Corey Instagram. The dad joke of the week is up. Yes,
it's knocked Corey right.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Over, right onto the floor.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Let us know what you think. You can follow Marcus
and Corey on Instagram. It's more variety from the two thousands,
the nineties, and today it's Star one on one three.
It's Marcus and Corey and we're back with second Date update. Everyone.

Speaker 2 (16:45):
We just want to help you in your dating life.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
You know, you went on that first date, you thought
it would swell, yes, and now you.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Can't get the second date. And we're going to figure
out why.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Get Chris on the phone. Chris, was your first date
with Julie Swell?

Speaker 5 (16:57):
You know, honestly, I thought we hit it off swimming.
I was in San Francisco and we were at a
networking event and just you know, then we started texting
and funny banter. And then we finally got together and
had dinner about a week and a half ago, and
everything seemed to be going great. I stepped out on
a limb here, but right in the middle of dinner,

(17:19):
she looks at me and she says that she wasn't
feeling well and she just got up and left. Okay,
and so I was concerned about her welfare, so I
texted her later that night, you are You're okay?

Speaker 1 (17:33):
And sure?

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Not a word. So she's ghosting me, and I don't
have a clue while because I thought we were doing
okay and I'm just trying to make sure that she
was not having some sort of medical issue.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Okay. Here's what I love about this is that because
San Francisco is San Francisco, you could have a networking
event and still live locally. I'm guessing Chris is a
Bay Area transplant because I did hear an act accent
there at the end. Some southern So where are you from, Chris, I'm.

Speaker 5 (18:00):
From a town in Tennessee called Memphis, the birthplace of
rock and roll.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
I knew it anyway. Sorry, I'm getting off track, but I've.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
Been out here for about twenty seven years now. So okay,
this at home.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
You just want to lose that draws how he gets
the chicks?

Speaker 5 (18:15):
Yeah? You sure, right? Boy?

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Why do you have just a looked on your face? Corey.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
I'm just trying to, you know, get my theory in there,
and you just keep talking. Oh I'm sorry, here's what
I'm thinking. Go ahead, please, She leaves, She jumps in
her car, which happens to be a Dolorean.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
She hits eighty eight miles an hour and ends up
in nineteen fifty five.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
I know this, mm hmm, yeah, I don't. I don't
know if you're familiar with Corey's theories, Chris, but there
you go. That might have been what happened to Julie.
We're not sure.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
You never know.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
I'll tell you what, Corey.

Speaker 5 (18:47):
I don't know what kind of drug you're on, but if
I want to up.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Chris, we're going to call her trying to figure this out.
Can you hang on.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
For a song, Yeah, yeah, I'm stop, Yeah, please help
me out.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
I got you from the two thousands, the nineties, and
today it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and
Corey doing second date. Update. We've got Chris on the
phone and he and Julie met. They both live locally,
but their companies happened to do their thing in the city.
So Christ this was a few weeks ago, and then
you guys did a dinner and the only clue that

(19:18):
we have is that Julie left the dinner abruptly.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
She said she didn't feel well.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
Something happened, and Chris has been radio silence since then,
Like she's ghosted. Is that right?

Speaker 5 (19:31):
Yeah? I just got didn't know if she had some
sort of medical problem. Was concerned about it. But she's gone.
She's just vanquished.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
All right, let's let's call her and see if we
can't figure out where I was gonna let her.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Here we are, it's okay, went to the grammar police.
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Let's get her on the phone. All right, go ahead
and mut your phone Chris, here we.

Speaker 5 (19:55):
Go, okay, made it.

Speaker 2 (20:02):

you all the time.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Why well, check your phone. It's second date up date time, right,
I don't know if you're familiar.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Oh is this about me?

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Yes? Yes, yes it isn't. You've been on a date
recently with a guy named Chris, and would you mind
discussing because he okay, so this is almost perfect. This
because you guys met at this event and then you
went out and he would like to see you again.
He had a good time, he says, you go, Well.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Now you left the date. You said you didn't feel well?
Are you okay?

Speaker 1 (20:55):
That's true? I left that part out. Yeah, I'm fine, Okay.

Speaker 5 (20:59):
I feel fine, all right. I just I just don't
know why.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Why did you go?

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Well? Did Chris not tell you what he said?

Speaker 5 (21:08):
Well?

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Here, let's I forgot Chris. Are you there? We might
as well bring him on. Chris?

Speaker 5 (21:13):
What did I say? Yeah, I'm here? Okay?

Speaker 1 (21:16):
What did you say?

Speaker 5 (21:18):
I said?

Speaker 8 (21:19):
Okay, well, okay, Well, we were talking and it was
going great, and we were talking about our families. We
both have kids from prior relationships, and I brought my
phone out to show Chris a pick of my kids.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
You know, totally normal.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
Are the kids my kids?

Speaker 9 (21:39):
Well, my daughter is twenty okay, and my son is eighteen,
so you.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Know they're off at college. Okay.

Speaker 5 (21:47):
I pull up the.

Speaker 9 (21:48):
Phone and I'm showing him pictures of the kids, and
chriss when he sees my daughter, he says, okay, don't
take this the wrong way, but she's kind of hot.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Grows right.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
No, whoa whoa, whoa, whoa whoa. Hump the brakes there, Okay, listen,
I said to you, don't take this the wrong way,
right up front. But okay, she's a very pretty girl,
and I mean, don't you want people to find your
daughter attractive? But I didn't say hot. I said she's hot.

(22:27):
You don't you don't. You don't know that. That's disgusting.
It feels like you're you're gating me to get to
my daughter. No, that's not okay what you said. I
said she I said, you know she's hot, and it's
like she's hot, like you.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Said, you might as well have focusing on Does that
make it okay?

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Is it really?

Speaker 5 (22:50):
You said she was hot? And I'm now paranoid that
you're going to be checking out my daughter. So no,
this is no. Yeah, yeah, okay, you're welcome. I got
plenty more.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
Oh wait, so Chris, you're tapping out too. I mean
this isn't gonna go so who cares?

Speaker 5 (23:08):
Yeah yeah all right, yeah, good, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
I'm gonna No.

Speaker 9 (23:14):
I don't want I don't want people checking out my
children that I'm dating.

Speaker 5 (23:17):
Okay, I wasn't checking out your children. I was paying. Okay,
you topple from the tree. And you're kind of hot too, Okay,
so at least I thought you were. I started talking.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
We're gonna call it. I'm gonna call no second Date
for anybody? Is that okay?

Speaker 5 (23:34):
Yeah, let's call that. That's correct.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Sounds great? Hang on, Yeah, there are just certain things
you just don't say. I don't think there's a proper
way to no Second Date Update seven oh five weekday mornings.
He replaces it nine oh five. Then, of course you've
got the podcast on the iHeartRadio app. Yes, please subscribe,
but also set a preset if you don't mind set

from the two thousands, the nineties, and today it's a
Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey. Good morning.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
Hello.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
May I ask you something? Yes, if you break up
with someone, are you still allowed to be cool with
their mom or their dad? Per se?

Speaker 3 (24:23):
There's way too many parts to this because there's so
many things that can go wrong, right.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
I think once you break up with somebody, you're breaking
up with the.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Old family, like you're not allowed. Then at that point, well, what.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
If she starts dating someone new and you show up
to hang out with mom?

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Let me just read you what I saw okay on Reddit.
It's chick, writes. My ex and I broke up over
a year ago. His mom and I have stayed close
every couple of weeks. We meet for coffee, we text
about books, and she even invited me to her birthday brunch.
My ex has found out and has flipped out, saying
I've crossed the line. But honestly, Mom feels like family

(25:04):
and me. We never talk about him. Is it wrong
to stay friends with her? Or does breaking up with
someone mean breaking up with the entire family as well?

Speaker 2 (25:13):
I feel like the mom is probably making a portraits
right now.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
I'm low key mad at moms. I'll be honest with you.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
It's because again, what if it's Christmas and mom decides
to invite the ex and.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
You want to bring your new girlfriend for the holidays.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
It's gotta be almost impossible not to say the words anyway, girl,
he's got a new lady and I don't like her.
For example, dear, do you.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Can't do that?

Speaker 6 (25:36):
Right?

Speaker 3 (25:36):
You can't do that, You're just creating problems.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
I wish she was still with you. I miss you
so much in my life.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
She wouldn't do that.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
She can't do that. Does she want to like alienate
her son?

Speaker 1 (25:48):
And then how do you have the conversation as the son? Mom?
You can't do this.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
I knew people who are friends with their exes.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
I had one ex who I would talk to, but
he was more like a high school boyfriend, so I
didn't really count that. He was, you know, close with
my sister, close with my mom. We're more friends than
we were boyfriend girlfriend. But when I get if somebody dumps.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
Me, you'll get no more of this goodness.

Speaker 2 (26:13):
No, you don't get my friendship. I'm special. You got
to earn that.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
What if they were cool with your dad? I don't
think my dad would you would entertain that.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
I don't know him well enough.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
I mean maybe maybe I don't know, but I don't
think my dad would go out of his way to
hang out with one of my exes.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
It just doesn't sound like him.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
I mean, I'll be honest. I miss my ex brother
in law.

Speaker 2 (26:36):
Fair.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
He's a good dude. We enjoyed hanging out, but the
second it was over, like it was just like, all right, bro,
we'll take care.

Speaker 9 (26:45):
That was it.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
He's gone. I can't I can't know.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
If I like my sister in law, which I do,
if something God forbid, were it ever happened, I'm probably
never going to hang out with her again.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
Right the bummer?

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Right, you just got to kind of move on.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
I'm still mad at mom. So what we're discussing is
this lady says she and her man broke up, but
she and the mom are still friends. Is that cool?
Is anybody living this right now? I guarantee you there's
somebody listening right now nodding their head because they're still
cool with their ex mother in law to the point
where they still hang out and they think it's fine

(27:21):
and it's fine and everybody's fine.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
Yeah, but he didn't find out until a year later.
They've been hiding it from him.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
That's the other nugget. Yeah, they didn't. They were no
full disclosure.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
No, they were not, because obviously they know this isn't right.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Still mad at you, mom. Anyway, if you wouldn't mind
leaving us a talkback, that'd be great. Let us know
what you think. It's a little red microphone on the
iHeartRadio app. If you're streaming Star one on one three

you smile a little bit. Maybe your Tuesday is Tuesday
and a little too hard. We're here to help.

Speaker 5 (28:12):

Speaker 1 (28:13):

who is proof that cosmic karma is real.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
So he found one hundred dollars bill on a counter
in a convenience store. Yes, he was there to buy
like lottery tickets. So he sees thee hundred dollars bill
on the counter. He whips around. There are three people
in line at the ATM. He asked everybody, dude, like,
is this belong to anybody? They're like, dude, keep it.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
Yeah, they told him to keep it.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
Yeah, he's too good of a person. Gets an envelope
from the cash register and says, please put this in
the lost and found. Just in case, who does that?
Not a record as saying if I found a hundred bucks,
one hundred bucks is my threshold.

Speaker 5 (28:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
If I find a hundred bucks on the ground, I
I how it.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
On the counter like where he found is.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Yeah counter, that's true. That means somebody accidentally left it there. Yeah.
At any rate. He then proceeds to buy his three
Latto tickets that he was planning to buy, scratches him off,
wins a million bucks. There you go, karmarific. This is
the most karmorrific story. Thank you for the free word. Corey.
