Something Crazy Happened Before Our Food Drive Appearance
Marcus takes me to the nicest places. Before our appearance at Sprouts, we checked out Dino's for lunch, then Marcus wanted to take us to a dive bar. We are decked in 49er gear and it is a Raider bar. The men were mostly hammered, but cool. It didn't get crazy until a wee drunk man started massaging every one at the bar, including yours truly. Let's just say Marcus put the hammer down and some other guys physically removed him after he touched an older female. Good times.

Frugal Tips People Swear By On Buzzfeed
  • "Our prepaid cellphone plan saves us $100 a month from what we were paying."
  • "Using the public library. Many now offer free streaming services, audiobooks, and ebooks."
  • "Using actual dish towels instead of paper towels."
  • "Shop from your pantry first, and sales flyers second. Plan the menu around what you have already and what's on sale rather than what you want to eat any given week."
  • "Buying things second-hand from Facebook Marketplace."
  • "Pay yourself first. This is the only way to ensure you will have money at retirement. Take money out of your check, or have your employer do this."
  • "Ordering groceries online. I’m guilty of impulse buys, and simply ordering groceries for pickup saves me $20+ each time."

Party Evite "Maybe"
Marcus had a duel birthday party this past weekend and we are trying to decipher what is more frustrating: someone responds "yes," but doesn't show up. They reply "no," but show up. Or they click "maybe," and never give a definitive answer. We are thinking they just need to remove the "maybe" option.

Second Date Update
Damon said his dinner with Kendra was the best he’d had in months. They met on Hinge. He bragged that she was beautiful, funny, and didn’t seem fazed when he suggested dessert after. He thought that was a good sign. She wasn't in a hurry to leave. Damon told us he couldn’t wait to see her again.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Nothing like starting the week with a little pan flute.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
I love that song. I never get sick of that song.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Shakira Star one on one three, it's Marcus and Corey.
Also like starting the week with a little earthquake. Yep,
did you feel it?

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Oh? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (00:14):
I said to my husband, like, why why is the
dog is itching like that? And he goes, and then
I heard the dogs take off right. He goes, that's
an earthquake.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
And I went, Okay, I guess, I guess I would
assume you would feel it.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
In San Francisco, it was. It was centered like in.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Berkeley, over by cal just so quick though, and it
was a first they reported it at a four eight,
then it became a four to six, and now eventually
officially it's a four to three. No damage, no injuries
that we know of, So that's cool.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
No, it was actually quite soothing. I kind of wanted
it to go a little longer.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Don't dumb.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
Uh ask me how I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
How are you folly.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
Call me Nathaniel ratelift because I got the Night Sweats.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
I don't know what that means.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Oh that's a band with than your rightlift in the
Night Sweats. Oh that had been a lot funnier if
you knew how I was talking about.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Nobody does.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Oh that's not true.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
If it was one of your obscure bands, you'd think
it was hilarious. You just sucked all the air out
of a joke.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
I was like, is that the guy from Harry Potter? No,
that's Daniel Ratcliffe and I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
I'm sorry, No you're not. I'm sure it's a great band.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
It's a big it's kind of it's more probably a
little more alternative than us.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
But it doesn't matter now you got the What do
you mean you're adding this to your list of ailments.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
It's not new. Oh, it was just it was a
joke that I was proud of and you just took
a dump on it.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Are you telling me you had night sweats last night? Yes, okay,
that's what I need to drill down.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
But it's not funny now at all.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Trying to embrace my killing the room right now?

Speaker 4 (01:55):
You did? I thought it was funny.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Well, okay, let's move forward because we have a lot
going on. I'm sorry that I ruined your joke. We
have tickets for Edsheer this morning.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Did we do it? Seven?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Thirty seven, thirty seven, thirty five, and also at nine
thirty five, to be honest. So that's poppin this morning,
coming up in a few minutes. So Corey and I
were out in Newark, mostly a fantastic time.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
There was a bar fight that almost broke out.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
We called a bar fight.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Oh no, got a little it got a little nutty
for a sec. We'll filly in at six fifteen. More
variety from the two thousands than nineties. And today it's
star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey. It's
six fifteen. Good morning. Hello, it's been Friday afternoon raising
funds and donations for the Alameda County Food Bank. Ninety
nine percent of it awesome. There's always one guy and

(02:53):
this wasn't at our event, but we decided to hit
a restaurant and then I wanted to get a picture.
I don't know the neighborhood dive bars, so we did
that and that's where the magic happened. We'll get into
that in just one second.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Back to the good parts.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yes, at the Sprouts in Newark on Friday four to six,
Thank you to everybody that came out.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
It was really great.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Oh so much fun.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
It was so nice meeting people.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
And one of my favorite things was the kids because
I love just seeing that kind of they're excited and
they get so excited over a chip clip and they're
so sweet and they want to give hugs.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
And we just met some cuties.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
We did.

Speaker 3 (03:30):
We met a lot of really great families. So we
wanted to see what Newark was all about. And we asked,
you guys, where we should go for lunch.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Shout out to Dinos.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
And then after lunch we found a dive bar. The
action happened in the dive bar, and I'll explain in
a moment.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Because it got a little hairy for a sec.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
It did.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Dino's was amazing. Shout out to John who is one
of the owners, Johnny who I heard from every single
person to stop by. Oh yeah, Dinos. They do a
lot for Newark. They they do a lot for our community. Yeah,
so we got to give them extra love. The food
was spect tacular. Thank you to John for just lacing
us up with all the food. We really appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
So good.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
If you go to Newark for any reason, or if
you're already there, if you are probably already no Dinos,
so that was awesome.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
And then we wandered into this dive bar.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
That shall remain nameless, and I knew.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
It was gonna be awkward because Corey and I were
in full niner gear.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Door opens, no windows.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Everybody looks over, and all you heard from the back was, hey,
don't you know this is a raider bar.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
I wanted to turn around leaves, but everyone had a
sense of humor. They were just kind of giving us
a hard time. It is a raider bar. And there
was a female bartender who was super nice.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
He was super nice. So this is where it got
kind of weird. One guy wandered over and I thought
he was going to be the issue. He starts chatting
us up. He's had a few yeah, but he ended
up being cool, very cool. Then his buddy came over,
not cool, and offered us both massages. He was apparently
a champion massage giver, also had been drinking all day.
I ultimately instinctively go, no, no, no, touchies.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Here's my problem. I'm having a horrible problem with my
neck right now. Right I'm so much pain, and so
when someone says something like about chiatsu or whatever that is,
I'm like, get in there. And he was actually very good.
It was a really good massage.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
For he couldn't wait to let a stranger in a
dive bar lay hands on her.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
And I couldn't figure that out. I couldn't figure that out.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
He was very small. I could take him.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
He almost had to.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
I almost had to.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Because then he got a little bit too comfortable.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
And keep in mind, he's massaging.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Everybody, whether they asked or not.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
He was going around to everwhere he got himself in trouble.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Yes, So he starts getting too close to Corey and
I leaned over and I go, hey, man, back up.
She's married, and he said it doesn't matter, and then
I said, yes it does, Yes it does.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
And I showed him my wedding ring and I said,
yes it does.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
And then his buddy had to physically pick him up
and relocate him to the other side of the bar, saying, hey,
stop bothering this nice.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Peach, which I really appreciate.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Itiated that. Well, he comes back around. Now he's on
the other side of me. So I'm in between him
and Corey and he's right on me, and I told
him I had dude, back up, and he puts his
hand on my back. He starts throwing my back and
I was like, and at that point I just barked
at him.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
You did the year inner. Jeff came out and I
was impressed. But the thing is he was so hammered.
He nothing was going in, nothing was computing. Well, his
biggest mistake.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
He gets up, walks over to another table and starts
just randomly, without consent, massaging an older lady who was
there with three gentlemen who then stood up, quickly grabbed
him and escorted him out the back.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Yes, and that's that's the last we saw.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Then I'm sure he's fine. But then after that it
was glorious. Ive this little speed bump in the day.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
You know, I still got it.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
This happens to my wife all the time. It's so
exhausting to hang out with babes all the time. Like
your husband gets.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
It, it's so hard being this pretty.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
That's the crowd I'm pulling now. Over sixty and drunk.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Are variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey
Monday morning, Good morning, Hello, here's something to start your
week with. They went on Reddit and people listed the
frugal habits that they have that they actually stick to.
Some of these made sense to me, some of them
did not all be honest.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
Are they easy? Are they hard?

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Uh? They're not bad. Let's start using the public library.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Oh you know, my sister does that. Every time she
moves to a new town, she joins the library.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
I think it's great if the library is convenient to
where you live.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Yes, you don't have one and a half moon Bay.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
We do, but it's not convenient to my house on
a Saturday because we live on the north end of
town and the libraries on the south end.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
So eh, it's more of a trek than it is
to be.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Yeah, this person uses prepaid cell phones.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Wow, that sounds like a criminal.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
That's not a burner phone?

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Oh that they're the same.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Says it saves up to one hundred bucks a month
from month they are paying.

Speaker 4 (08:04):
Does you number change every time? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
I think that it really frustrate I think you recharge
the phone.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Does somebody have a bird phone, I mean a pretty
paid phone that they use, and did they save a
bunch of cash?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
I need a deep dive on that.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Because I don't make a lot of phone calls buying
things secondhand.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
God, I love a good score online. Oh it juices
me up so much.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
You know what I love a good a state sale.
I've gotten some really nice pieces out in a stage.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Really yeah, I have had zero luck at garage sales.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
We have it right now in our living room. We're
using it as our entertainment center. It's a big, beautiful
wood carved piece that happens to have shelves, so you
know our STEREO's.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
In there are Oh wow, you know DVD player?

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Do people still have DVD players? No? Blue Ray? Sorry,
Blu Ray?

Speaker 1 (08:47):
That not even that.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
We're nostalgic. We still have at Corey.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
And the Jeff's house. It's perpetually nineteen eighty seven.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
You shut your mouth.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
How many times have you seen Rambo?

Speaker 4 (08:56):
But not by choice? A lot.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
My greatest find on secondhand was a crighton barrel dining
table that retailed for one thousand dollars. Yeah, got it
for a hundred bucks. That's great, and I wanted to cry.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
I was so excited.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
There's one on here that I implemented not too long ago,
was using actual dish towels and actual cloth napkins instead
of paper towels. Yes, because we instead.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Of cloth napkins, we were using paper towels.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
And I'm like, what a waste.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
The only way we make it, okay, And we don't
use a ton of paper towels, but we do composts.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
We got that going for us.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Another one that makes sense as long as it doesn't
go sideways. This person says they order groceries online. I'm
guilty of impulse buys, and simply ordering groceries for pickups
saves me twenty dollars plus each time. But they pick
them up, yes first, so they don't pick it up themselves. Yeah, okay,
so then you then you don't have the delivery charge.
And that was my question.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Well, they're saying they're guilty of impulse buy. So this way,
if you don't go in the store, you won't go
ooh oreos.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
That's what I do.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
It's like it's just something you didn't even know existed,
that you can't live without.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
So this way you're only getting what you order.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
It's me, this isn't on here, I don't think. But
like batch cooking on a Sunday, making a big pot
of something.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
They say, shop from your pantry first, so go through
your food, see what you have, and then create your
recipes around what you've already got.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
I played a game a couple of weeks ago. Let's
see what else is in the freezer.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
You're pretty good at making a soup out of just
about anything.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Yeah, So these are frugal habits that people say they
can actually stick to. Would love for you to add something.
If you've got something, let us know. Use the talk back.
It's a little red microphone on the iHeartRadio app. If
you're streaming Star one on one three right now.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
This is what I'm talking about. It's what's trending on
Star one three, what's.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
Happening in entertainment news, the biggest stories of the day,
and everything people are talking about today.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
In the Babe in.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Vegas, the iHeart Radio Music Festival lit up t Mobile Arena.
We had giant beach balls, surprise mashups. People were on
their feet the entire time. And you can watch a
festival special on October second on Who If you want
to Relive the magic. Mariah Carey opened with her classic fantasy.
She did all the hits Jelly roll like took a
piece from everybody. He did Nickelback, he did Leonard skinnerd Yes,

(11:12):
he did Miley Cyrus.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
I saw that one.

Speaker 4 (11:15):
Ed Sheeran he built entire songs live before the audience.
He had has guitar and that loop pedal that he
likes to do, a spring through a beach ball party,
Maroon five, Sweet Surprise, They did Love Is Like Animals
and This Love, and then Adam Levine told the crowd
he had something special in store. He and James Valentine

(11:35):
stripped it down for an acoustic rendition if She Will
Be Loved, which is one of my favorite songs. Brian
Adams kept it classic summer sixty nine, and he also
had a newer track with Roll with the Punches.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Ello Cool Jay showed that he's still the goat.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Mama said knock you out.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
I love it, and then Gloilla closed the festival with
fire I love this, I love it.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
So Ed Sheeron rolls right from doing that performance with
his loop machine and who was Loop Tour of which
we will have tickets for at seven thirty five this morning.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
Yes, we're getting closer to Taylor Swift releasing her twelfth
studio album, The Life of a Showgirl in October third,
She's announced Taylor Swift the official release party of A Showgirl.
It's an eighty nine minute long release party event. It
will run Friday through Sunday in Cinema's nationwide Now the
screenings will begin all at the same time and will

(12:26):
feature the premiere of the first music video for the
Fate of Ophelia. These showings are expected to bring in
anywhere from thirty to fifty million dollars over the weekend.
Now tickets are prized at twelve dollars. Swifty's overwhelmed AMC theaters.
Fans had to wait up to an hour to get
a ticket, and AMC crashed at one point. Apparently they've

(12:47):
already made fifteen million alone in the first twenty four
hours of pre sales.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Good It's good for the economy.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
And then production on Spider Man Brand New Day was
halted Friday after Tom Holland was injured on set. He
was hospitalized and treated for a concussion. He's going to
sit out filming for a few days to recover. The
injury happened during a stunt gone wrong. Meanwhile, he was
spotted with co star and fiance Zendea at a charity
event this weekend.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Nice still putting it down?

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Yeah, what to add? Today is the first day of fall. Yes,
ninety five degrees inland right now, but it's the first
day of fall. Boy, It's also a National Family Day,
National ice cream cone Day. Oh sounds delicious. We'll go
to sports really quick, as the Niners edged out the
Arizona Cardinals final score sixteen to fifteen thanks to a
thirty five year old a thirty five yard last second

(13:34):
field go goal.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Buy the new kicker, Eddie Dinero. Pinero. Now let me
just as time expired, just got to say this, of
course you do.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Ricky Piersall and Pinero are both former Florida Gators and
they were the heroes of yesterday's game.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
They really were. The game was very lukewarm until the end.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Oh they didn't start the game till the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Next up, the Jaguars are in town. That'll be Sunday
one oh five, Go Niners. The Giants did beat the
Dodgers over the weekend three to one, and we are
still in the hunt for the playoffs for three games
out of the wildcard. But we will see what happens.
Our weekend picks are up. Uh so, Corey took a
picture with Johnny who owns Dinas. We were out in

(14:20):
Newark on Friday. Big shout out to Dinos. Thanks for
hosting us, hooking up all the food we really appreciated.
What a great place to eat and we had a
great time of raising money and raising donations for the
Alameda County Food Bank there at the Sprouts. So thanks
to everybody that came out. My pick is from my
early birthday party over the weekend. It's me on stage
doing karaoke.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
That's boring, so.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
You know what, you love it? It's perfect I do.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
I gotta thank everybody over It at Cameron's and happened
to be my favorite place to hang out. Appreciate you
guys very much for throwing an awesome party. Pictures are
up right now on the Marcus at Corey Instagram. Please
give it a follow.

Speaker 7 (14:57):

O one three FM and I'm Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
More Variety for the two thousands, the nineties and today
Star one on one three It's Marcus and Corey and
it is time once again for second date update.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
I can't tell you how many times I meet somebody
and they say to May, oh.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Man, that's second date update is my favorite, dude.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
We will new work on Friday. Yeah, every single I
was like, this train wreck is going to be my
legacy just right here.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
It's not a bad one.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
You know what, though, I.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Don't want to put those vibes in the universe because
Damon is on the phone. He needs some help, okaying,
are you there?

Speaker 8 (15:40):
Yeah, right here, let's.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Get you a second date. Bro. There, I'm thinking positive,
so we know how this works.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
Tell us about Kendra, tell us how you met, and
then what did you guys do on your first date?

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Because I'm reading here that she did.

Speaker 8 (15:53):
Ghost Yeah, and honestly, like, why I'm on the phone
with you guys, because it was the best dinner like
date thing I had had in months by far. We
met on Hinge and immediately, I mean, she dropped dead gorgeous, funny.
It didn't father when you know, I suggested we order dessert,

(16:16):
like that's sometimes a thing, you know, like just enjoyed
yourself thoroughly, and I thought that was a good sign.
And she wasn't in a hurry to leave. I bobviously
couldn't wait to see her again, and so and now
it's just tumble weed.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
Okay, Corey, your thoughts, Well, what I'm thinking is that
Kendra actually works for the mob as a bagman or
a bag woman, if you will, And she's been given
two ultimatums. The first is from his mob boss to
go to Mexico, you mean, her mob boss, thank you.
To travel to Mexico and get a priceless antique pistol

(16:52):
it has a really unique name. Or suffer the consequences now.
The second ultimatum is from a friend who wants her
to enter her asssociation with the mob. Kendra figures alive
and in trouble with her friend is better than the
more permanent alternative, so he she heads south of the border.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Is she Brad Pitt? Is it huh green Goo in
Mexico or something?

Speaker 4 (17:18):
You're close? What Mexican? David got it.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Ed Green Geto and Mexico?

Speaker 4 (17:26):
No, it did for you, Damon?

Speaker 1 (17:28):
All right, well, I don't think that actually happened. I
gotta be honest.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
I mean it makes sense, though, sure, Damon, Let's call
her this this date sounds awesome, so let me let's.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Regrow play a song. We'll call her next. It's second
eight Update Star one on one.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Three sang more variety from the two thousands of the
nineties and today Star one on one three. It's Marcus
and Corey. We're doing second Date Update and we are
talking to Damon about his date with Kendra. It was

(18:03):
one of those dates that he didn't want to end.
She didn't seem to be in a hurry to leave,
and now she's ghosted. So let's let's call her an Ay,
I want to get some answers, but b let's see
if we can score a second date. Damon, are you ready?

Speaker 1 (18:14):
I'm kind of nervous, but yeah, all right, all right,
just take the breath. Let's give her a shout. Here
we go.

Speaker 4 (18:29):
Hello, I may speak with Kendra. Please.

Speaker 5 (18:33):
This is Kendra.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Hi, Kendra, It's Marcus and Corey from Star one one three.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Hey, oh okay, what do you do one? Pick it up?
Numbers you don't recognize. I'm just kidding.

Speaker 6 (18:46):
What are you doing calling me? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (18:48):
You're right, you're right. Do you have a sec to
be on the air with us? I don't suppose you
listen to our show.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Do you show?

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Oh cool, it's a radio show, would love to have
you on. Okay, you're doing a bit called second Date Update,
and we got floated your phone number by a friend
of ours who listens to the show, who went on
a date with you, he says, says he had a
great time, said it felt like it didn't need to end.

(19:15):
And now he's feeling like you ghosted him. So we're
wondering if you have a sec to talk to us
about your date with Damon.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Okay, where did he screw up?

Speaker 6 (19:27):
Okay, well, listen, I had really high hopes when I
went to that.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
I guess I'm being presumptive before we start, like did
you ghost?

Speaker 9 (19:34):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (19:34):
I kind of okay, all right, now proceed.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
How did he screw up?

Speaker 6 (19:39):
I mean, he's a decent guy.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
He respects me.

Speaker 6 (19:43):
Let me tell you the good stuff first, Okay.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
He really listened to me.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
There were no hiccups until after dinner.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
Okay, when we ordered dessert.

Speaker 6 (19:54):
So first, Damon wanted me to hear some of his
original poem.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
A Tree and Yeah.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
But when he read me this little piece of poetry,
it was about his ex, which is kind of weird.
And then later, when dessert came, he reached across the
table and fed me a spoonful without even asking, And
I was kind of like, Okay, that was a little awkward.
But the kicker was, when you know we're done with

(20:27):
the date, he asked if I wanted to come back
to his place and meet his mom. Mom and I
quote stays with him most nights.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
She stays with him. Yeah, but why would you want
you to meet his mom on the first date?

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Why don't we ask?

Speaker 4 (20:51):
Okay, oh my god, I know.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
I was like, what, this is moving so fast?

Speaker 1 (20:57):
So, uh, yeah, Damon is actually on the phone. He's
listening right now.

Speaker 3 (21:03):
Come on, we're trying to help him out here. My
guy really liked you, Damon. I have questions. Are you there?

Speaker 8 (21:10):
Yeah, as far as like the poetry, it's an x
so like who cares at that point? Like it's obviously
in the past.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Yeah, but no, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
But it might does It would seem like it means
something to you if you're reading a poem you wrote
about her.

Speaker 8 (21:28):
Yeah, now I just see that. How that's like a
huge like deal breaker thing or something.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
It's just why are we even referencing the x nobody
wants to know that there are one in a list
of people, Damon, not especially it's a first date.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
All right, Let's get to the real issue though, Go ahead,
what why would you want her to meet your mom
the first night you got out?

Speaker 7 (21:53):
Well?

Speaker 8 (21:53):
I love my mom and I know that she's gonna
love Kendra too. There was a no brainer there.

Speaker 6 (21:59):
Yeah, but like I don't even know if I want
to meet your dog, Like, let me get to know
you first.

Speaker 8 (22:04):
Okay, I don't know what the all this hesitation is
after such a good date.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Damon, This is like one thousand miles an hour. Yeah, guys,
you see what I mean?

Speaker 6 (22:14):
Like it's just too much too soon? Like do you
live with your mom?

Speaker 7 (22:18):
No?

Speaker 8 (22:18):
Well she comes over like quite a bit. She's got
her own little like Trondlendle.

Speaker 6 (22:24):
I don't even know how that would not be awkward
for me, Like are we going to make out like
on the patio?

Speaker 4 (22:31):
Like it's just this, I'm.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Out its second date.

Speaker 6 (22:36):
I'm sorry, but no.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
All variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
It's Star one on one three, It's Marcus and Corey,
it's seven to twenty one, it's Monday.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Hello, fair warning.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Uh, it's gonna get kind of petty here for a
few minutes, little salty, but I want to kind of
want to low key spout off about something that really
triggers me. Nothing triggers me more than a party invite,
because the different types of people that respond to a
party invite, who's the more offensive person? And I experienced
this in real time because I had a birthday party

(23:06):
over the weekend. Is it the person who replies yes
and then just doesn't show the person who replies no
and then feels they need to explain why in the
most you know, the.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
Long ridiculous way.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Some of these.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Reasons are connor riddict Or is it the person who
leaves the hanging Maybe I don't even know why. Maybe
is a an option on the evite. I was just
gonna say, I don't know why there is even maybe.
Don't give that as an option. You're right, you're going
to go, or you're not.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Because when you do him, maybe you're not helping the
host at all.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
No, because the host, like for me, we had to
plan food right.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
And again, thank you to the staff at Camerons for
making the karaoke birthday party. It was a Mean Girls
themed you Can't Sing with Us? I brought Corey a
T shirt.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
It's a good time. Pictures are up right now on
the Marcus of Corey Instagram. It was the maybe's that
got me first, because when you reply maybe to an evite,
it literally tells the person you might be important enough.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
But I don't know.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
I'm waiting to see if something better comes along.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Sometimes we're busy. Sometimes you got to move stuff around. Yes,
but in that case hit maybe right in. Hey, I've
got a few things going on, but let me see
what I can do, and then and then and then
follow up. That's the problem is the people that may
beat on me did not follow up.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
They just kind of let it whatever.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Now, saying yes and not showing up is incredibly so.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
That happened as well.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
We had we have a friend this was a collab
birthday with one of my wife's friends. And we have
another friend who just this is the second time in
a row she has replied yes plus one and then
not shown up. Now it's gonna get real petty for
a sec because she just sent out her wedding invitations.
Oh so I made the joke at home.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
I said, babe, I go, what if we all reply yes.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
And don't show up and then show up?

Speaker 1 (25:01):
And my wife looked at me. Thank God for her,
by the way, because she is my moral cumpass.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
She goes, well, do you really want to be that petty?
I said, I was just joking, But can you imagine that?

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Is that a life lesson? Or is that me being
a complete toolbox?

Speaker 4 (25:14):
No, a wedding's a little different than a birthday partie.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
It's a lot more formal. But but I'd be lying
if I didn't tell you that. The thought didn't enter
my mind.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
I get it, I get it.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
And then my favorite was one of our guests replied
no and then proceeded to tell us I would join,
but we have box tickets to the Lava Cup at
the Chase Center. And then he went on to further
explain what that is parentheses, This is a big tennis tournament.
What a d bag not attending?

Speaker 4 (25:45):
You're just bragging. You're just bragging that you have these
box seats. Nobody cares? Who cares?

Speaker 1 (25:54):
That killed me pretentious? And then Kim even got me
a little bit.

Speaker 3 (25:59):
Kim M she RSVP'd Nos, Sadly, we can't get away,
but thanks for the invite. Have a blast, and remember
you never sound as good as you do in the shower.
I don't need that kind of negative energy right in
advance of my karaoke party.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
I think she Corey folded it.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
I think she made I'm actually surprised she did that.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
She made a joke that fell flat.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
I think, Oh, don't say that. You just insulted her
and me at the same time. I just can you
carn't have your back you.

Speaker 3 (26:29):
I love Kimmy so much, I actually don't care. I
know she was being funny, but I don't.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
I mean, there's one thing to say because I know
she was super busy because the games, you know, and
she has a restaurant. But the people who go listen,
I can't come because I have a life sensitivity and
crowds freaked me out. And it's like, just say, no,
I don't need your autobiography.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
I don't you know, and everybody you know, if you've
got a medical issue, that's one thing. I don't want
to be insensitive, But yeah, I don't. I don't actually
need to know.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
The whole story.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
No, I'll take the yes, I'll take the no. The
maybe's gonna get me every time.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Let's start a petition to get rid of the maybe.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
On the on the evite's off base here, Am I
being insensitive?

Speaker 4 (27:14):
No, because it takes a lot to put together an event. Yes,
and you're supplying food for people. You need a head count.
And I don't care what's going on in your life.
I love you and I hope everything is well. But
just say yes or no, and then if you are
not going to come, let me know that it changed
because in complete honesty, I didn't go.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
The hanging maybe, but you called me, so that's fine.
I'm opening up terrible because it was day up.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Opening up the talk back on it.

Speaker 3 (27:43):
If you have some thoughts, Uh, it's the little red
microphone on the iHeartRadio. If if you're streaming, it's time
for good News with Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 6 (27:55):
Sometimes all you need is one a good thought to
make it a great day.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
So let's do this.

Speaker 4 (28:00):
It's good on Style Funnel.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
It's twice a morning. It's seven forty. Just to put
a smile on your face. Get the tissues ready. This
is a good one.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
It's about a little boy, nine year old who helped
his dad beat leukemia by donating stem cells.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
His own stem cells.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Little boy's name is Stephen, his dad, and the headline
is the doctor becomes the patient. So his dad is
doctor Nick, and he was diagnosed with cancer, but then
Steven stepped up and donated his stem cells. This is
down in southern California at Cedars Sinai, and this the
stem cells are going to help to kickstart a new
immune system for his dad.

Speaker 4 (28:37):
That's so crazy.

Speaker 2 (28:38):
Just wow, I mean nine years old.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
Yeah, such a hero. Could take a year or longer
to know if it'll work. But the doctor who is
you know, on the case, says, most of the time
a transplant is a cure.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
That's so great. A little boy saved his dad's life.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
I'd do it.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
I thought that was pretty amazing. Anyway, that's our good news.
Well variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
