Healthy Eating Mistakes You Could Be Making
Even if you know what you should be eating, putting that knowledge into action can feel like an Olympic sport. Many “mistakes” aren’t deal-breakers…Here are some common pitfalls that might be tripping you up.
  • Skipping those important nutrients: Protein and fiber are MVPs when it comes to staying energized and satisfied—think beans, eggs, whole grains, or veggies.
  • You’re stuck in restriction mode:  Instead of obsessing over what you can’t eat, focus on creative swaps and additions that feel exciting.
  • You’re planning for the short-term, not long-term.
  • You’re all-or-nothing about food: Labeling foods as “good” or “bad” can backfire and leave you feeling guilty instead of motivated.
    You’re ignoring frozen veggies.
  • You’re eating like your younger self.

One Sentence That Changed Your Life
BuzzFeed asked readers to share the one sentence that had a life-changing effect and these are some of their real and relatable responses.
  • "A coworker once told me, 'Nobody on their deathbed says, 'I wish I had worked more.'''
  • "My parents used to ask me, 'Will this matter in ten years?' when I was upset. It was annoying at the time, but it always did put things into perspective."
  • "In terms of relationships: 'Stop watering dead and fake plants.'"
  • "My best boss said, 'I don’t care what you screw up; learn from it and don’t do it again.'"
  • "My mom says, 'Don’t borrow trouble.' I love it so much. Worrying about what MIGHT happen gets us nowhere!"
  • "The things that you’re not changing, you’re choosing."
Can you add one of your own on our talkback?

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey five
fifty seven. Good morning, Hi Thursday. How are you Corey.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
I had a.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
Lovely day yesterday, so my friend Kim and I went
and got some haircuts and then we sided have lunch afterwards.
And we happened to be on Valencia and we saw
a dumpling place. Oh and Kim's a big dumpling.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Person, may I ask Valencia and.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
What like seventeenth eighteenth?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Yes, and she loves dumplings, okay, And I get a
little intimidated by the menu, so I go, you know
what dealer's choice you order for us? Got this lovely
garlic cucumber cold salad, some spring rolls. We did a
pork dumpling which had like a base, like a dough base,

(00:46):
which was interesting. And then we had like a regular
chicken soup dumpling that came in the basket. But what was
fun is they had this spoon that stands in. What
you do is put the dumpling in the spoon and
then you kind of poke it so the fluids come out,
sup a dumpling, but you can kind of but you
drink it, you know, you drink the fluid so you
don't miss out on anything.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
So it was delicious, and I would like to say
we had some jasmine tea.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Could you use the word proth instead of fluid next time?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Sorry broth, But the most important part, Yes, we're completely sober.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
A my journey and did not drinking continues.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
How's that going?

Speaker 4 (01:22):
Fine?

Speaker 1 (01:23):
It's funny.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
It's more of a habit. Like we went back to
her house.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
I'm like, let's open it. Oh never mind, bottle of
sparkling water.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Last night, I had sparkling water with a little bit
of lemonade in ith.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
I mean, it's it's it's more of a habit. You're
just kind of used to it. But then when you go, oh, nevermind,
I'll just.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Have this right. It's interesting to me because when I
think eighteenth and Valencia, my mind autumn doesn't go to dumplings.
My mind automatically goes to tacos. Yeah, sandwiches. There's a
sweet papoosa place.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yes, there's everything there. I mean, honestly, whatever you're in
the mood for, you're gonna find it.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
If I was to say let's go have dumplings, I'm
automatically thinking Clement Street. I'm thinking Chinatown, of course, but
then like thirty first in Balboa.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
The reason Mark went there is because we had to go.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
She's to stop by her vet and her vets right there,
and we just had her to stumble across it.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
The service was incredible.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
I mean, it was this cute little place and I
highly recommended. Sorry, I know it's dumpling something, but it's
on Valencia in like seventeenth or eighteen.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
Okay, it's really good. That's cool.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I like that Hungry now. I also had a really
good day and it was also full of eating. So
I'm doing a video like one of those hey check
out this hole in the wall place type videos that
I like to do, and I'm showcasing the my Locals
bar in half Mum Bay the old Princeton Landing. But
the cool part is my guy Brian uses the fish

(02:49):
from the dock and he uses the vegetables from behind.
There's a farm right behind the restaurant farm the table.
Literally literally I go, before I eat this fish, let
me show you where it comes from. And we walked
to the dock and I point to the boat and
then I go, hey, before I eat this chili, let
me show you where the beans come from. And I
literally walked to behind the restaurant and point to the field.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
Oh, and it's just neat.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
It was neat, and it was a beautiful day on
What was the temperature like for you? I want to say,
like seventy two. It was really muggy. It was strangely
muggy and warm. You you promised the time. I know
it was going to drop. I felt like a liar
in the car.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
You are lying to me.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
I didn't mean to I was mad. I was mad
at me too. Anyway, we should have a hopefully a
continued cooling trend. We'll keep you posted on that. Also
coming up this morning, more tickets for Ed Sheeran. That's
the big headline. Yeah, seven thirty five, be here to win.
More variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey Thursday,

(03:48):
Good morning. I do love this really good. At the
clickbait headlines there at BuzzFeed, got me, Got me too,
people share the singular sentence that change their LIVESA what's
the best advice you ever received? I love these. I
have a couple I'm hoping you've got a couple, Corey
been here, and then we'll share some that came off
of this article. My number one hitter, to be honest,

(04:11):
that I've carried with me for most of my adult life.
Our boss, the one that hired you here, who left
for New York, told me in my early twenties. He said, Marcus,
make sure you advocate for yourself, especially at work. Nobody
cares about you as much as you do.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
That's very, very true.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
And it sounds selfish, but what he was trying to
say was if you're one of those employees who just
puts their head down, does their work and just is
expecting somebody to notice you, that's never going to happen. No,
you have to prove yourself. I'm not saying squeaky wheel
all the time, although they do say squeaky wheel gets
the oil whatever. But advocate for yourself, manage up, make

(04:47):
sure the people that matter know what you're doing.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
I like that, and I've shared that with other people too.
It's like, no one's gonna fight for you like you will.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Right.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
What else you got, Cory, Well, my mom had some
nuggets that I really like that I took with me.
One was all will be revealed, Like if you don't
know why things are happening the way they are right now,
all will be revealed. And then one that kind of piggybicks,
that is it will all work out in the end,
And you don't get a timeline on that, because I
remember during the pandemic when I was unemployed and I

(05:17):
had no options.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
I was like, what's gonna have it?

Speaker 3 (05:22):
And then somewhere in the back of my head it
will all work out in the end, and here.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
I am no I had a boss. That's the same thing,
and it's very pertinent, especially today with the world the
way that it is. He has to say, Marcus, the
universe has a way of writing itself. Yes, and so
we're all going to be okay. And I carry that
with me.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
I love this one that's actually on the list on BuzzFeed.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
The things that you're not changing, you're choosing if you
need to change your life, if you need to make
your life better or improve on some things.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Whatever you're not changing, it's going to stay the same.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
So if you say to yourself, oh God, I need
to exercise more, and then you don't, well.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Choice, that's your choice. This one is very like everybody
gets this. One coworker once told me, nobody on their
death bed says I wish I would have worked more
ninety nine percent of the of seniors I talked to you,
I wish I would have spent more time with my family.
I wish I would have taken more vacations. Time is
the one thing we don't have. I love this one.

(06:20):
Somebody said that they wanted to get become a lawyer
really late in life, and they lamented to a friend
that they would be fifty by the time they got
their certification. And the guy said, well, you're going to
be fifty anyway, right, Love that and he did it.
Another piece that I received personally, and this was when

(06:41):
my daughter was born and I was freaking out about
being a parent and how do I steer this little
person to becoming the best version of themselves without making
a mistake. And a buddy of mine told a story
about a decision he made with his son. He was
allowing him, frankly, to smoke weed at the house so
that he wouldn't do it out in the street with
his friends. Yeah, and he said to me, said, Marcus,
it may not be the right decision. But it's my

(07:03):
decision and I'm the dad. There you go, and it's
you're never going to get everything right. And if you're
someone who's guilty of catastrophizing things, instead of saying what
if it goes wrong, switch it to what if it
goes really well? Recently discovered stoicism, which the root of
stoicism is except the things you cannot change? Yes, right.

(07:25):
One of the philosophers say is man is not worried
by real problems so much as by their imagined anxieties
about said problems. And I'm guilty of that totally. We
all are the stuffing could happen.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Right right, Let's end on this one because this is
my favorite. Yeah, when we're talking about relationships, this person said,
stop watering dead and fake plants.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Like, stop forcing it, right right, stop trying. It's something
that's not working. Just because you've known this person since
you were in kindergarten. Maybe your kids are friends. What
do we always say? You only spend time with people
who fill your cup? Fill your cup? All right? So
the assignment is that one sentence that changed your life?
Use the talk back on the iHeartRadio app. It's that

(08:08):
little red microphone. If you're streaming Star one on one
three right now, a variety from the two thousands, the nineties,
and today it's a Star one on one three, it's
Marcus and Corey h six thirteen Thursday, Good morning, Friday Eve.
If you will, here are some healthy eating mistakes you
might be making. I like this because it's not just
about hey, don't eat that, eat this. You might actually

(08:29):
be doing your kind of mealing, your mealing, Oh my gosh,
you're eating well, you might be your process might be flawed.
So like, for example, my number one favorite on this
your meal prepping way too much. Yes, prepping food ahead
of time helps, but you don't have to spend your
entire Sunday in a marathon cooking sash. Even just washing

(08:52):
and chopping vegetables counts as meal prep.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
You know, I'm trying to eat better right now, and
you know we plan ahead with them. Is if you
prep like that, then the day comes you're supposed to
eat it, and you're like, well, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
In the mood for that now. I don't know how
some people do. You know, you watch those influencers where
they will make a big batch of something and then
slap down the meal prep containers and do like seven
days of the same thing. And look, you can't do that.
Some people eat for fuel. The jeff your husband on
some days he's funny, he'll hit for fuel some days
and then some days he's a pretty pretty princess. Or

(09:28):
he'll mass And by the way, I'll never call him
that to his face. Yeah, I was like, do you
want to die or that?

Speaker 3 (09:33):
Sometimes he'll fast. I mean, you never know what you're
gonna wake up and want to do that day, so
it's hit. Sure, do like maybe three right, but don't
do the whole week.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Don't skip out an important nutrients. Protein and fiber are
the real MVPs, especially as you get older. You skip them,
you feel sluggish, hungrier. I found and this really works.
If you can hit thirty grands of protein every meal,
you're gonna feel full here at full st yes, and.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
It drives you crazy. But I always bring an egg
in in the morning, a hard boiled egg, because it's
good to get that one egg in there with the yolk,
much noise, it's for three seconds, but that's protein, man, I.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
Don't roll that much. Eight grads of protein per egg.
By the way, you little dramatic over there. Here's another one,
another way you may be these healthy eating mistakes. You're
eating like your younger self. Boy, is that a favorite?
Sometimes my GLP one makes me cocky. I'm not gonna lie,

(10:37):
and I'm probably not the only one.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (10:40):
Again, that goes back to protein, calcium, vitamin d omega
three's those need.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
To become even more important. You didn't need as much
of it when you were you know, twenties thirties.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Correct, I mean you did, you just didn't care. No,
you're ignoring frozen vegetables. That is a frozen vegetables, frankly,
and frozen fruits are a power move because most of
the time, if not all the time, they get flash
frozen right on the spot. Same with fish. By the way,
if you buddy of mine brought home in Albuquortuna had
had a flash freezer on the boat. Yeah, and that

(11:12):
thing is just as good as fresh.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
They do it on the boat, that's why it's so good.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
And the other day I asked Jeff to get blueberries
and he's like, well, I get frozen blueberries. They're good
in my smoothie. And you're flash frozen. And there's actually
more nutrients in it than if you get the I.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Mean, defrosted blueberries aren't really fun to eat. They got
all weird and squishy. Put them in something, Yeah, put
them in a smoothie. Uh, you're all or nothing about food,
And I'm going to I'm going to couple that with
you're trying a full blown diet makeover. Oh, so you
either label foods good or bad, there's no gray area,

(11:46):
or like poor Corey, who has to kind of reevaluate
kind of a little bit of everything because there's some
health issues. You're trying to go zero to sixty. You're
going from You're going from from short rich in gravy
to a full blown Mediterranean diet.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Well, like I said, I had dumplings yesterday. That's not perfect,
you know.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
But.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
I had that one meal.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
But then like I had yogurt and granola, and you know,
had just a Greek salad. And if you go full stop,
you will freak out and have a huge cheat day.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Just ease into it. That's what I've been doing. I mean,
if I'm pulling.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
The curtain all the way back, I'm not supposed to
drink for the next three months. And what we did
was we had one bottle of vodka left, and so
between Jeff and I we like two ounces.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
You eased your way off one.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Ounce, okay, and that way We're not like going cold turkey,
but we are eased into it and we feel good.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
You know.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
I'll never forget the big debacle of twenty fourteen when
I tried to give up red meat and alcohol for lent.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Oh, that was done.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
It lasted about twenty six hours.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
The only thing that I've been successful giving up for
lent not cursing.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Well, are we doing this right now? I think that's
stroke out just now. I don't know there's another. I
don't really give anything up because you go back to it.
We're going to a whole of the topic now, healthy
enie apps that you might be screwing up. There you go.
More variety from the two thousands than nineties. And today
it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey.

the whole family, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Happy Gilmour two,
Why not?

Speaker 1 (15:25):
I mean I love that.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
And then one of the most interesting ones is called
costumes don't have to be scary.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Sometimes ghoules just want to have fun.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
So they have something called.

Speaker 4 (15:33):

Speaker 3 (16:41):
But we want you to find the one and to

Do you even know what you're talking about?

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Marco? Did you catch any of that?

Speaker 5 (16:52):
Yeah? No, I did it. It sounded beautiful.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
I see Marco.

Speaker 5 (16:56):
G is it?

Speaker 1 (16:56):
Listen to Marco. He's even got that voice. Hey, I
thought it was beautiful. You're like a goddess. I'll take it,
my guy. So I want to talk about we we
want to talk about your date with Elise, because I
understand that she's ghosted. We want to help you out.
Let's run through it. How did you guys meet? And

(17:17):
then and then just how did it go? What happened?

Speaker 7 (17:20):
All?

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Right?

Speaker 5 (17:21):
Well, we met online, you know, the classic way of
meeting for these days. But but no, it was great.
We went downtown and we had like, I mean, it
was like a whole night of experiences. We had oysters,
we had some wine, you know, then we actually sat down,
had some martinis, had like a really good dinner. We
were talking the entire time, Okay, you know, like we

(17:41):
were clearly I felt, I mean it was like an
attraction immediately there and we were you know, and we
were vibing the entire time, and I just I can't.
I can't understand what happened.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
It's got to be so confusing. I don't know if
I could handle it emotionally. The amount of ghosting that
we are pretty too. Yeah, totally, and Marco sounds cool. Yeah.
Do you have any idea what might have happened to
release Corey? Well, here's the thing.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
She's been kind of.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
A spoiled rich kid all her life and basically spends
her days just fooling around and partying with friends. And
when her father, who is a hotel magnet magnate, sure,
he gets fed up with her behavior and so he
issues an ultimatum. He says, you know, since she's passed

(18:32):
all over schooling and doesn't really adhere to it, the
father wants her to go back and retake every grade
in twenty four weeks, so one grade a week. Otherwise
he'll take his business and hand it over to one
of her enemies.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Is this that TV show with Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie. No,
not at all, no idea, but Marco's being very patient.

Speaker 5 (18:56):
Oh no, I'm blanking out. I didn't know what the
hell was going on. I was like, I was like, wait,
this is at least because I could have just said
that her father was never in the picture.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
But okay, cool, you don't know, no, tell you what.
Let's call her and try to figure it out, all right,
you know how we roll. We're gonna have you on
the line when we call her. Ultimately love to get
you a second date, but let's try to figure some
things out, get some answers. Okay, thanks, all right, brother,
we'll do it next. Second Date Update Star one on
one three variety from the two thousands, the nineties and

(19:25):
today it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey.
We're doing Second Date Update right now, Maurici always holding.
We're about to call Sarah to figure out why she
ghosted on him. So let's just give you a recap.
They came to downtown SF. They had oysters, they had
sparkling wine. It all turned into dinner and Marco, you
said the connection was almost immediate. Yeah, yeah, okay, let's

(19:46):
try to figure some things out. Go ahead and meet
your phone and let's call her.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Here we go, Hello, I may you speak with the
least please?

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Yeah, this is she Lease, It's Marcus and Corey from
Star one on one three, Good Morning the.

Speaker 7 (20:11):
Radio show, How are you going on?

Speaker 5 (20:18):
Why are you crossed? Me?

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Missed you?

Speaker 7 (20:23):
I listened to you guys all the time, Thanks to you.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
Right now, this is so cool.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Do you listen to Second Date Update?

Speaker 7 (20:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Okay? Oh yeah, welcome?

Speaker 7 (20:39):
So Marco's listening right yes?

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Yes, hey Marco? Oh god, yeah, hey okay, okay.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
So let's do this. Let's get in there, Sarah, did
you ghost?

Speaker 7 (20:54):
I did? I?

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Did something happen? Or what's happening? Because he was really
feeling your vibe. He said, you guys clicked almost immediately,
So like, what what went down? From your perspective? Sounds
like a fun date? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (21:09):
I mean yeah, I mean what we did was fun.
It was stereotypically a really good date. I just we
did not really click. I I don't think where you
know it's a match?

Speaker 1 (21:24):
Okay, did something what happened? Did something go wrong?

Speaker 5 (21:28):
Well?

Speaker 7 (21:28):
I ghosted because I didn't want to get into all
of this funny here we go. So he's right, there
was some sparks. It was a good date. We were
having a good time and I was feeling them at first.
But when you leaned in for a kiss, it just
got really weird. He after after the kiss, he's like,

(21:52):
you tasee like trouble you yeah, and have you ever
joined the Mile High Club?

Speaker 5 (22:00):
Oh? Hold on, hold on, wait, hold on, hold on,
Like context matters.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
It was. It was.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
I mean, first of all, it was like a flirtatious
We were vibing and she literally had bubblegum chapstick. It
like she tasted like something. It was like the wave
of everything was just like I was just being confident
and we were talking and it was a joke talking
about the Mohock Club that was leading to it.

Speaker 7 (22:23):
It was really really really cheesy and kind of kind
of creepy. I feel like he probably says this to
all the girls, so I don't know, it was crazy.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
It was very me.

Speaker 7 (22:39):
Okay, see, yeah, it was really creepy. He he was like,
you taste like trouble.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
No no, no, no, no, no no no no. That
sounds like I'm not that's not like a serial killer.
I didn't say it like that. I didn't say it
like that.

Speaker 7 (22:53):
I will not wear that chapstick ever again.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
So like was that it is a Mile High Club
thing too? Why would you ask that on the first.

Speaker 7 (23:03):
Date, right, Nope, that was out of context definitely, and
we were not talking about flying.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
Right No, I was was just an elusive like are
we going to talk about anything on intimate level? And
it was just that it was it was the jarringness
of the conversations, which was supposed to see. I wasn't
asking her to get on the plane that night. It
wasn't like an invitation, you guys.

Speaker 7 (23:29):
I actually forgot. The best is when he left to
face time with.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
What now.

Speaker 7 (23:38):
He went and had a conversation, a face time with
his buddy.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Where in front of you are like away from you.

Speaker 7 (23:44):
He came back from the bathroom, still on the phone
to show, you know, his friend. I was, you know,
like the girl that he pulled, you know, to show.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
In my defense, in my defense, that's that's that's my
close friend. He's like back in the day, we were
each other's wing man type five, so we would energy.
But I would have I would have called him up
even if the date was bad.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
Uh huh.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
So So once again, you know, this was like a hey,
you know, like she was if we would have stayed
you know, involved with each other, she'd meet him eventually.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
Meet him eventually, not on the first date.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
Everything.

Speaker 7 (24:26):
All in all, it was just very childish. Yeah, I
just I'm not interested in another.

Speaker 1 (24:31):
Date, fair enough? Hang on, my guy was scrambling. We
call that tap dancing.

Speaker 5 (24:37):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Second date update seven oh five, weekday Mornings. Your replaces
at nine oh five. You got the podcast, as you know.
On the iHeartRadio app, you can set a preset if
you don't mind, and it'll be back tomorrow morning. In
her swift who has new vinyl dropping by the way, get.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Ready yep, and limited edition.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
So he's in addition to the other limited edition editions
of the additional.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
Give me an addition and we'll give me another edition.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
While I'm waiting, we'll give you a full report during
What's trending At seven fifty you have a swifty in
your life. Quick update on jersey gate.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
Now, when you say jersey, you're referring to this jersey
you bought to support your daughter.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Yes, so I had a custom jersey made that represents
her volleyball team, and it's got school colors, it's got
her name on the back, her number. The whole thing,
and the thing is you have to understand, as I've
discussed over the last couple of days. If you've been listening,
I have been told to tone down my cheering, that
I'm too borderline obnoxious. Do you think this is a.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
Solution in the sense that you're still supporting her, but
you're not vocal.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
Maybe I just I have so much pride here on
daddy daughter day. She's such a good volleyball player, and
she's such a good teammate. Every time somebody does anything,
she's going over with a high ten.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Love it.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
She's so great. But so what I struggled with, and
what everybody listening helped me with, was do I tell
her chance that I have the shirt and I'm gonna
wear it to the games, or do I just show
up and have a big reveal.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
I lean towards the side of just showing up, because
I feel like if you show it to her, and
even though it's the long lines of wearing your favorite
football players, drets.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
That's what I told her, I said, it's my you
know you told her? Well, hold on, Okay. So the
advice ranged from don't tell her, just do it. Yeah,
she'll she'll she might be embarrassed for the moment, but
she will remember it forever. That was my vote, correct
all the way to don't you dare just show up
have a conversation with her, otherwise you might throw off
her game, which I don't want to do that either.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
I didn't even think about throwing off her game.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
So I ended up telling her. I said, hey, I
ordered this shirt. It's coming, and she was so funny.
She gave me a look like, oh God, but then
almost asked me to order her her own. At the
same time she looks she almost said, can I get
one too of her own? Yeah? Name team with the
T shirt that she could wear it off the course.

(26:59):
I see.

Speaker 4 (27:01):
So then that went better than I ever thought it would.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
So then we negotiated and I said, look, you're my
favorite player, and what does daddy do. Daddy wears his
jerseys of his favorite players on his teams. And she
kind of looked, and she goes, Okay, you can wear it,
but you have to wear your jacket over it so
I could have it open in the front. She didn't
want to see her name or her number.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
In the back.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
Well, that defeats the hole.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Hold on, it gets better, it gets better. So late
last night I was like, hey, number twenty four shirt's
coming in tomorrow. She gave me a look and she goes,
all right, you can wear it to away games. I
guess that's a good take it. So I don't know why.

(27:42):
Maybe she doesn't want it in front of them. I
don't know why she wouldn't want me to wear it
at a home game, but I don't care. This is
a wind. That's where her friends are.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
That's where her but.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Her friends are going to be at the away games too,
not as many in the stands. Maybe maybe not, But
I'm calling it a dad win.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
I would say this is definitely a win that went
better than I thought it was going to go.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
So I'm excited. So anyway, but my point being a
it's National Daughter's Day if you if you want a
hashtag for your social and get a pic of your
daughter on your social media. But also I feel like
this is a big win for me.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
Can you take a picture of yourself in the jersey
when you get it?

Speaker 1 (28:16):
I will thank you to everybody who checked in, appreciate
all the advice. As always, Yes, it's time for good
news with Marcus and Corey go.

Speaker 6 (28:28):
Sometimes all you need is the one a good thought
to make it a great day. So let's do this
it's good news on Star.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
One, one three, So we did good news twice in
the morning. It's seven powered by treating company Luxury time Pieces,
find designers flawless diamonds. I am in love with this story. Yeah,
it's pretty good. Check this out. An engineering student at
John Hopkins University has created stylish sweaters made from red

(28:56):
solo cups. Y'all, Oh good, oh awesome?

Speaker 2 (29:02):
I feel you.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
So she takes discarded red solo cups and turns them
into soft knitwear ready yarn for sustainable fashion.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
You would think that, like you, going from plastic to
a soft material.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
Have no idea about the process, But after graduating in
twenty twenty, she secured grant funding to purchase what's called
an extruder machine, which is capable of turning shredded plastic
cups into thread and then it's combined with other non
toxic materials to create this knitwear ready yarn. That's really

(29:38):
cool and what you need to know. So they have
pastel colors, which those colors come naturally from the cups themselves.
They avoid artificial dyes. They retail for eighty five for
the sweaters, forty five bucks for the beanies, and they
sell out quickly. You want to go to New Norm

(30:01):
Collective now, can just anybody get them? Yeah, it's New
Norm Collective. It's the New Norm Collective dot com. And
their mission statement is let's reimagine waste and redefine fashion together.

Speaker 4 (30:16):
This is the kind of thing that I adore.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
I remember I was living in Seattle and we were
at a Starbucks shop and they had jackets that were
made from old fishing net.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
And that kind of thing is just so brilliant.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
Oh, I have a friend who is brilliant. I'll gotta
get a shout out to my lady Runa Ray. You
should look her up because she is insta famous and
travels the world talking about sustainable fashion. That's what she
does for work. She's a brilliant human. She's even spoken
in front of the un that's amazing.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
And what's really incredible about these this clothing. Yeah, it
looks really soft and nice and pretty.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
So the New Norm Collective dot com and these are
young people, man, Yeah, they're changing the world. I respect it. Yeah,
this engineering student taking red solo cups turning him into
knit sweaters.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
So I really just wanted to play the song again,
I know, and It's so nice to see red solo
cups being used for more than just beer pong.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Not that there's anything wrong with beer pong.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Oh with that? What you done with the game?

Speaker 1 (31:21):
Go ahead and give it the new collector.

Speaker 5 (31:22):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
Well, variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey.
It is time to play the bass favorite trivia game.
It's called What You Know About That too? Got a
