Dirtiest Parts Of Your Hotel According To The Housekeepers
  • Decorative pillows - These don’t get washed often, if at all.
  • High-touch surfaces - Hotel room phones are the most unsanitary item. Higher-end hotels may give remotes, light switches and phones a wipe down before every check-in, but don’t count on it.
  • Carpets - They tend to trap dust and bacteria.
  • Hidden contamination spots - This is stuff tucked away, like barware inside drawers, that may be handled by guests without housekeeping staff knowing. Also, bathtubs with jets, only take a bath at a hotel if it’s a “super luxe five star hotel and only if it’s a non-jet bathtub.”
  • Hard to reach spots - High ceilings, chandeliers, ceiling fans, curtain rods and shower heads, which may be overlooked during a standard hotel room cleaning.

Things Classy People Do
  1. Adopting stress management techniques. Classy people have stress in their lives, they just use techniques such as yoga or meditation to keep away anxiety .
  2. Learning to control their impulses. They keep their cool and stay even keeled, even when emotions are at its highest. Practice delayed response techniques, like counting to 10 before reacting.
  3. Dedicating time to being alone. Just like they show up for other people, classy people show up for themselves, too.
  4. Doing things that scare them. Rather than running from the things that make them uncomfortable, they do them. They face their challenges.
  5. Cultivating a healthy inner circle of people. They know that having a healthy inner circle will help them promote healthy habits. They also know that toxic people will stagnate their own growth.

How Pets Keep Your Mind Sharp As You Age
Recent research suggests that owning a cat or dog can actually slow down cognitive decline in older adults.
Daily Walks = Brain Gains: Taking your dog out for regular walks doesn’t just keep             your legs moving…it also boosts circulation and reduces stress, both of which                 support brain health.
  • Routine, Routine, Routine: Pets thrive on consistency, and guess what? So does your brain. Feeding, grooming, and playtime create a structured day, which has been linked to better cognitive functioning in older adults.
  • Conversation Starters with Fur: Walking a dog or sharing funny cat stories is a great way to connect with others, and socializing is key for brain health.
  • Emotional Support: Pets are amazing at sensing your mood and offering comfort just when you need it. That emotional bond can lower stress levels.
  • Mental Stimulation Through Play: Playing with your pet keeps you engaged and alert, whether it's tossing a ball or hiding treats. These mini-challenges promote problem-solving and coordination.
  • They Make You Laugh, And That’s Good for You: Laughter has been shown to lower stress and stimulate brain activity, and pets are basically fuzzy comedians.

Second Date Update: Jonah and Lila went for Thai food in Albany. He thought things went really well. They are both avid readers, into poetry nights and open mic. Now, she's Casper.

More variety from the two thousands, the nineties and today
it's Star one, one three, It's Marcus and Corey right
before six.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
What's happening? Hi, Tuesday, It's Tuesday. Watched a really weird
movie yesterday. Tell me it's called It's called Wolf or
Face of the Wolf, and it's the chick from Ozark
the Blonde. Did you watch Ozark? No, with Jason Bateman.
I know who he is. She was the tiny little
blonde that was sassy if you know, you know. But

(00:27):
it takes place in Oregon and a movie, this movie,
and it's rumored that a hiker went missing and like
turned into the spheral creature. Okay, and the indigenous people
called him Face of the Wolf. Okay, It's okay. It
gets a little weird worth watching, Sure, scared. There are

(00:48):
some very suspenseful scenes, but don't don't pay for it.
It's free on peacock right now.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Oh pro tip. We got a bunch of new appliances yesterday.
Did shout out to my people at Airport Appliants. They
came through and installed a cook top, a range hood,
and a new dishwasher for the missus.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
That's exciting. Well, one am I saying it's for me,
it's for us, Well, yeah, both of you, because you
don't load the dishwasher.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
But then the missus hit me with a hey, while, uh,
while everything is out of the cupboards, because you know,
you got to pull all the stuff out of the
cupboards so they can install the water lines and all
that happy stuff. Will you do me a favor and
put in this wire basket insert under the under the sink.
So I got home and I was wiped and she
had got this thing off of you know, our reused

(01:37):
recycle site in half Moon Bay.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Suddenlady gave it to her for free. And then and
then I was like.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Oh, and it's it's a it's a wire basket that's
on rails, so it pulls out.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
You know, pull you sure it's storage.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
It's supposed to come with a piece of paper that
tells you you set the piece of paper down in
the area, and you're supposed to be able to just
use that to it's a guide you.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Where your holes are gonna go. Okay, well didn't come
with that. Oh you need that? Can you google it?
I had to install it without did you ai it?
I did?

Speaker 1 (02:10):
I knew it gave me a step by step here's
how you do it, big guy, ais.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
I mean, dude, if you harness it, it's the best
assistant you've ever had. Do you think you're harnessing it?
It's nah? Do chet GPT gave me a step by step,
no guide paper, no problem. I put it in. She
thanked me like six times. It's funny though, because our
age definitely uses it like a Google. Yes, and kids

(02:37):
use it for the blood planning their whole life. Yeah.
So anyway, yeah, wire basket went in. Not a big deal.
And we have all these new appliances. And I'll tell
you what.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Anybody who has an induction cook top, I apparently have
been living not even in the seventies with my electric stove,
but like in the prehistoric times because an induction cooktop.
I watched it sim water in about thirty seconds.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Your former stove was what I grew up with. Trash.
Oh well, I wasn't going to say that. It's just
all on the side of the house. Now, Oh that's
that's attractive from eighty six. That's nice.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Well, what's well, what's gonna happen is that Recollogey's going
to pick it up. So you didn't have airport taket no,
because you know they charge you. Yeah, and so he
was the guy was really cool. He goes check with
your with your garbage susposal.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Because you can do a few a couple of those
a year.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yeah, and I'm sorry if you have republic services right now,
that was not a flex.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
I'm thinking about it in real time. I'm not being
sensitive to the people whose trash is piling up.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
It's still going on the whole, the whole trash strike,
so hopefully that can get some resolution maybe this week. Anyway,
six oh three coming up in a few minutes, we're
going to be talking about uh, the dirtiest part of
a hotel.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
There.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
They're pretty much common sense, but I'm I will follow
this uh website or on Instagram. It's like hotel nightmares, right,
and just stuff that the house cleaning people find. It's terrible.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
I'm going to have a thought on this that is
going to be very unpopular, Okay, but we'll talk about
it at six fifteen.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Stay with us.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Well variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
it's Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey Tuesday,
Good morning, morning, as we're rolling through the week trying
to be better adults, here are habits that classy people
stick to.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I gotta say, I can't imagine that classy is a
word that pops in your head when you're thinking.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
To me, you beat me to it, folly, either to
be fair, to be the noises you make in the morning.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Apparently, classy people learn to control their impulses.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
I think that's number one.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Okay, it's so easy in this job, as we try
to be as transparent and honest to ourselves as possible
to just say stuff.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
How many times we just say stuff? Oh, I'm terrible
at this. I'm horrible as well. I'm very passionate and
very emotional and.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
In in the wild we have to remember that you
have to have some coof sometimes, especially if you're in
a professional setting.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Well, that's why I take zol off.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
Keep your cool, stay even keeled, even when stress is
at its highest.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
That never happens around here. Huh.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Use delayed response techniques like counting to ten before reacting
as an example.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
That's a good one. Mm hm. That really does make
a difference. Like I've never believed in that theory that
you should never go to bed angry, because a lot
of times, if you do go to bed AnGR you'll
wake up and you might see things a little clearer
the next day. Correct, take a pause, all right.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Other things classy people do do things that scare them.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
It depends on what it is. There's certain things like
I've jumped out of a plane. Uh huh, I've done skydiving,
but I have no desire to bungee jump. I would
never do that. But that's more of a safety thing
than I'm scared of it.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
We went to Bora Bora for a honeymoon, and one
of the big things you do as a tourist is
swim with sharks. You boat out to open water and
then you just jump in where all the bull sharks are.
What they don't tell you is they chum the waters
before you jump in, so they throw in a bunch
of dead fish to get them all riled up. Makes
them more playful. Apparently I'm not doing that either. They're
like little puppy dogs in the water. Okay, until they

(06:09):
think that your leg is a piece of chunk exactly.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Hey, I'm still here. I made it anyway. Something else
classy people do cultivating a healthy inner circle of people.
I think that's important for all walks of life, whether
you're striving to be classy or not. Toxic people can
stagnate your growth, Yes, so you want to stay away
from them. Classy people adopt stress management techniques. This is

(06:32):
right there with controlling your impulses in my opinion. Yeah,
maybe doing a little yoga, a little meditation.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Sure, keeping it together when things get rough, and then
I just want to augment with According to this, classy
people use a paper planner like analog.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Like when I write things down, I remember them. There's
something a science teacher told me in high school that
is stuck with me, and she said take notes during class,
of course, but then go home and write them over. Yes,
because that locks it in your brain and I would
do much better on my tests when I did that.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Classy people get plenty of sleep that goes without saying.
And then finally going to therapy even if you think
you don't need it, inter maintenance therapy.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Interesting.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
I did that for a long time until our insurance
quit covering my therapist. That's a little bit too much, truth,
But anyway, once a week I would just check in,
she's great, was great?

Speaker 2 (07:24):
I did therapy for a little while. Uh huh. And
then when I kind of felt like I was good,
I was like, okay, good, thanks.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
I just couldn't afford it anymore. But maintenance therapy way
better than only calling your therapist when you're in crisis. Anyway,
just some things to think about, habits that classy people
stick to. Do you have any to add? Hit us
with the talkback on the iHeartRadio app. It's that little
red microphone. If you're streaming Star one on one three
right now, Well, variety from the two thousands, the nineties,

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Now this is what I'm talking about. It's what's trending
on Star one, one three, what's happening in entertainment, news,
the biggest stories of the day, and everything people are
talking about today in the Bay. What's Trending's brought to
you by Cash Creek Casina Resort Experience Live Entertainment where

In an interview, James Gunn explained how Supergirl fits into

(11:47):
the new DC universe alongside Superman. I don't know if
you know this mark is, but a new Superman came
out recently. I heard. Now this is a small spoiler alert.
Supergirl does make a cameo in the New Superman and
she shows up drunk at the Fortress of Solitude to
get her dog Crypto. So to your point, she's kind

(12:07):
of a hot mess. Was that his quote? That's what
he said. He was doing an interview, and this is
the Supergirl that's going to be in the upcoming Supergirl
Woman of Tomorrow movie, seric sharing she's a mess, a
total mess, because unlike Superman, who had a nurturing upbring
on Earth, she experienced a much more traumatic pass I see,
so we're gonna get some drama. I guess. George Lucas

(12:30):
is going to make his first ever San Diego Comic
Con appearance this year. He's going to close out the
convention with a panel in the famous Hall h to
preview the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. It's expected to
open next year in La Guerramo del Toro. Queen Latifa,
who will moderate, and one of the Star Wars art veterans,
Doug Chang, will also a tend the panel. Although Lucas

(12:51):
has never appeared at one of the world's largest fan gathering,
Star Wars made one of its earliest public promotional appearances
at the event in nineteen seventy six. Connie is going
to be July twenty fourth through the twenty seventh. I
wonder if he's going to do any kind of meet
and greet. I'm sure if he does. It's going to
be incredibly expensive to investigate because you can take photos

(13:12):
with people and sometimes they like you to buy their
book and they'll sign it right. But everything costs money
to do that. I think. Don't quote me on that.
I've never been, but I did go to one here.
It was like kind of a comic book, right FanFest.
Sidney Sweeney is launching a lingerie line with an investment
from Jeff Bezos. Because when I think lingerie, you want

(13:35):
to think about Jeff Bezos. Want to think about Jeff Bezos.
The insider says that this has been a huge project
for her and something she's been working on for the
last year. They also note that Bezos and his wife
have invested in the project. She was at their wedding recently,
and the rumor is she's the new Bond girl. Yeah.
I like that. She's super popular right now, that's Sidney Sweeney.

(13:56):
I just don't hang out with Jeff Bezos.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Well, let's see today's National Give something Away Day. Now,
this could be something that's been sitting around your house
that might be cool for something else. This could be
just giving somebody that you love, that you care, a
small gift to a stranger, anything to make the world.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
A better place by giving something away. That's nice. As
you go, I like that. Uh, let's see, we'll go
to sports really quick.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
As your Golden State Valkyries lost by a point yesterday
to Phoenix, seventy eight to seventy seven. That was the
final at Chase Center. They are in Seattle to take
on the Storm tomorrow noon tip off. Let's go Valkyries.
The Giants have the week off. Basically, they got a
game on Friday. Let's go Giants.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Everyoness what guess?

Speaker 5 (14:40):
What's l catch?

Speaker 2 (14:41):
What's trending? Every weekday morning on the fifties. That's six
fifty seven fifty eight fifty am in connection now with
Marcus and Corey.

we try to figure out why. Bringing in Jonah, good morning, Jonah,
Hey guys, how are you? Hey man? We're good? How
are you?

Speaker 5 (15:15):
I'm good? I'm good.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Let's talk about this date because I understand that she
has ghosted. Bring everybody in on how did you guys meet?
And then like, what did you do for your first date.

Speaker 5 (15:25):
So we we met on Hinge, the dating app, sure,
and we had some you know, the mutual interest. She's
an avid reader like myself, the creative. So I figured that,
like we'd have some stuff in commons and activities that
we could do and went to this tie place. It
was a good time and honestly don't know what happened.
I really just really thought we had a great time.

(15:46):
Like thought we were connecting, vibe and laughing.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
So you're both a couple of literary types.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
Yeah, okay, Like we both go to like poetry clubs and.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Oh wow, things of that nature. They're like, for real,
for real, good for you. He's not even he's not
even just to get the ladies. Yeah, for real. Okay.
And so she has ghosted.

Speaker 5 (16:06):
Yeah, yeah, I haven't heard back from her. Now, Okay,
I'm really not sure why.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Okay, Corey, any theories, No, could be a romantic right, yeah,
no theory Now, I kind of I want to see
if people like them or not. So weird Joe not.
I don't know if you've heard one of Corey's theories.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
But she tries to figure out what happened to the date,
and it's usually well based on a movie plot, right,
and we're not sure if it's I think people like
your theories, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
I'm not doing it today. And then if somebody says,
oh my god, I really missed it, I'll reconsider. Okay,
I'll tell you what I'm gonna do for your feelings.
Let's put a poll up on them.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Okay, so there'll be a poll up on the Start
one one three f M Instagram. Should Corey still do
a daily theory with Second Date Update? This is your
chance to sound off. If you love it, sound off,
if you hate it, sound off. Yes, it's on the
Star one on one three FM Instagram. Anyway, Jonah, back
to you. Here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna play
a song and then we will call Lila and see
if we can get some answers.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Is that fair?

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Absolutely?

Speaker 2 (17:10):
All right? I guess you got it. Let's cross our
fingers for a second date.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
We'll do it next right from the two thousands, the
nineties and today it's Star.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
One on one three.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
That's Marcus and Corey doing Second Date Update, chatting with Jonah.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
He and Lila. We're finding out they're both very literary.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Poetry clubs and lots of reading open mic nights.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
And you guys went out. You would do that like
you would go to an open mic all day. Yeah,
and then I would joke like when does karaoke start? Hey, Jonah,
you guys went for ty food? Is that right? Okay?

Speaker 1 (17:44):
So let's call Lilah and see what's up. Hang on
the line for me. Ultimately, I'd love to get you
a second date, but at least let's get some answers
as to why she might have ghosted.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
So go ahead and mutual phone.

Speaker 6 (17:55):
What's here?

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Am I just going to be creeping here and not talking?

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Doesn't and you know what, especially if you're a heavy breather,
go ahead and meet your phone.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Please? Okay, here, he's so nervous. It's okay, here we go. Hello, Hi,
may to speak with Lila? Please? I'm Lila. Hi, Lilah,
It's Marcus and Corey from Star one on one three. Hey. Hi,

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Hi.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Are you familiar with our show? Yeah? Do you listen?
I am actually wonderful.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
So we're doing second date update right now? Does that
resonate at all?

Speaker 6 (18:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (18:42):
No, I know?

Speaker 6 (18:43):
Second date update?

Speaker 2 (18:44):
Great. We would like you to be a participant. Yes
right now? Is that okay?

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (18:51):
That's okay?

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Sweet, great, so pleasant. Well, why don't we go ahead?

Speaker 3 (18:56):
So Leila jon is on the phone. Uh, and he says,
you guys wanted a date recently. He he digs you
quite a bit. I personally we like the two of
you together. So he's feeling ghosted. We'd love to get
to the bottom of it. Did you ghost and if so,
did like something go sideways on the date?

Speaker 2 (19:16):
What happened?

Speaker 6 (19:18):
Yeah? I was really bummed.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Honestly before you start, are you even there?

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Jonah?

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Okay, like I hadn't said a word. I was like,
wait a minute, I did, but you know, you know
he's there right. I'm sorry. I know, I've heard so
many of these.

Speaker 5 (19:38):
I just I gotta know what the I know.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
I actually it's my fault.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
I put the car before the horse anyway, Lila, Jonah, Jonah, Lila,
back to you.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
What happened? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (19:51):
Uh yeah, I mean I was pretty like bummed out
because I thought we had a lot in common and honestly,
like during like our date, we were really having a
good time and then all of a sudden, Jonah brought
out this sock puppet, A sock puppet. It was super weird.

(20:16):
It was kind of like having a third person on
our date. And he started using the puppet to ask
me these really deep questions and he told me its
name is doctor Feelings and that he wanted to know
about my childhood. Yeah, it was just super weird, a

(20:37):
huge turn off for me. And I asked him why
he was doing it, and he said it helps people
open up. Yeah, And honestly, like the first date, it
was like I was on a date with like a
child therapist, and honestly, I'm just not really ready for

(20:58):
therapy with a piece of foul.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
So right, sock puppet, this is very unorthodox and specific,
Like are you a therapist?

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (21:14):
No, I do work with with kids, and uh that's
been a it's been a thing that I've done and
it's worked. And you know, some of the parents I've
done the same technique with from the group And yeah,
that I don't know about that one. I don't know

(21:35):
what really went through my head there. I just you know,
it just felt like comfortable for a wide variety of demographics.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
So I figured.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Subcontext he was nervous A sock puppet.

Speaker 7 (21:50):
I mean, yeah, I see how it could be like strange,
I would die. Okay, but hold on, okay, right now,
clear before we give up on this, because I like
the two of you together, I really do. Jonah's got
some self awareness, now, Lilac, if I die, put away

(22:11):
the sock puppet.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Let's not take him out again on a date. Jonah,
save him for the kids, Lyli, can we try this again?

Speaker 6 (22:19):
I'm sorry, I'm really not interested. What was his name again,
doctor feelings?

Speaker 5 (22:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Oh god, alright, hang on, you guys, this too much.
I guess I was trying to make it happen. Sock
puppets anyway. Second Date Update seven oh five weekday mornings.
You replace it nine oh five. You got the podcast
on the iHeartRadio. Please set a preset for Marcus and
Corey Second Date Update frankly along with Star one on
one three so you can just listen all the time. Yeah,

(22:49):
more variety from the two thousands, the nineties, and today
at Star one on one three. It's Marcus and Corey
at seven to twenty. Good morning, Good morning.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
We're going to talk about how having a pet can
help you keep your mind sharp as you get older.
I love these all of these are hitters. They're all fantastic.
Before we do, we need your help Corey's inner feelings
this morning. If you listen to Second Date Update and
you hear Corey's theories, we're trying to figure out if
people like them or not.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
I didn't I don't have one for today. I didn't
do one for today, and I feel like if you
like them, great, let me know. If you think they're stupid,
let me know. I enjoy them. If you don't know
what I'm talking about, we'll explain.

Speaker 6 (23:28):
It to you.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
If you don't know what we're talking about, do yourself
a favor.

Speaker 1 (23:31):
Go to the iHeartRadio app and subscribe to Marcus and
Corey's Second Date Update. And the theories are something we
do during the phone calls at Corey theorizes as to
what happened to your date and sometimes they're out of pocket.
They're always out of pocket. But would love your thoughts,
so hit up the poll really quick. If you love
the theories, let us know. If you can't stand them,

(23:52):
let us know. It's on the Marcus and Corey Instagram.
Please give it a follow. Yes, reasons that your pets specifically,
this article says dog but why this is good for
you as you get older. Number one reason combines a
couple of things. Daily walks.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
It's really good. We took the dogs out this weekend
in just the fresh air. I mean not only like
moving your legs, but it's boosting your circulation. It reduces stress,
which both support brain health.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Just getting ten or fifteen minutes out there walking, we
already know this. It's good for your brain health. If
you can take your pet with you, Now you have
a responsibility. Now you have a purpose.

Speaker 2 (24:30):
And also that's the highlight of their day. I mean,
Stuart loves nothing more than to go through the neighborhood.
That's my Corgi and sniff other dogs, peepee. That's his
highlight of the day. Now Rylan, on the other hand,
just wants to get home your other little doggie. She's like,
come on, let's go. Yeah too.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Having a dog is an automatic conversation starter with people. Sure,
everybody loves a pet. Somebody's got a pet. And I
have to be honest with you, not a cat guy,
but if you're a cat person, maybe you could insert
cat in here. Sure do cats do all the same
things that dogs do? And I love the I don't
know emotional support. It depends on your cat, you know,

(25:09):
in the relationship you have. But sure, the emotional supportive pets.
I mean, I had a cat that loved to snuggle
and so it was great. And I love snuggling with
my dogs.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
But you know, every once in a while, if I'm
feeling stressed out or just kind of need a break,
I'll go in the hallway and find someone's dog.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Yeah, and be like, get over here. Emotional supports on
this list there, it is right there. And having a
good routine. Your dog needs you as you get older,
like especially for example, once you retire, you need some purpose.
The dog gives you purpose, yes, and then they make
you laugh, and laughing is good.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
I mean they're giving me videos and you're getting mental
stimulation when you play with them. It's just good for
your brain as we age. It's good to have these
things that are simple but helpful. I feel like these
are all gimmes. Oh yeah, now I want a dog.
I thought you were getting one at some point. Yes.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
Reminder Free Fridays coming up this Friday, and there are
a lot of dogs and cats and other animals that
need adopting this week. It's a HU made Society Silicon Valley.
They are our partners. We're gonna help clear them out.
So make sure you're tuned in Friday morning, especially if
you're thinking about getting a fur baby.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
It's time for good news with Marcus and Corey.

Speaker 6 (26:21):
Dog.

Speaker 2 (26:22):
Sometimes all you need is the won a good thought
to make it a great day. So let's do this.

Speaker 6 (26:27):
It's good news on Star one one three.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
You'd be good news twice in the morning, seven forty
just to make you smile a little bit.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Corey. I did a little deep dive.

Speaker 1 (26:37):
I found a dog story out of the East Bay
that made National News People magazine that is going to
blow your mind. What this is a family who adopted
a dog after their dog passed away earlier this year
and discovered that their new dog.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Was the older dog's son, and they didn't know that,
no idea.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
This is the Ray family. I don't know what city
they're out of. Every article just says east Bay. But
their dog, Rufus, had been with them forever.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
I guess he was.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
He was there when the couple got married. Their kids
are six and four. They have known nothing but life
with Rufus, and Rufus passed away. In April and they
had adopted him from the San Francisco SPCA. So they start,
you know, combing different websites or different shelters trying to
find other dogs to adopt, and they go to Muttville,

(27:37):
which is one of our partners for free Fridays, is
you know, every Friday we try to help clear out
the shelters, and they find Ziggy, who looks a lot
like Rufus, both rat terriers, and the more they learn
about Ziggy say mannerisms in him that's tripping them out.
So they do a DNA test and they find out
that Rufus is Ziggy's dad by a lot. Isn't that nuts?

Speaker 2 (28:02):
I mean the moving parts alone.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Yeah, anyway, it was according to the mom. She said
Gillian is her name, so that it was the good
news when we needed it the most.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
And they got Ziggy four days after Rufus passed. I
can't imagine no shout out to Peggy and everybody at
Muttville and everybody at the San Francisco SPCA, And you
know what, if you're looking to adopt this Friday, We're
gonna be showcasing more animals this time from the UH
he made society a Silicon Valley. Yes, there are partners

(28:34):
this Friday, so make sure you're tuned in. All the
info on Free Fridays is at one on one three
