(00:03):
It's my baseball buddy, Amy.How are you doing. Hello, I'm
good. How are you doing.I'm doing good. Amy Jennings from Masson,
checking in in the rain, andit looks like the end of the
world here in Baltimore today. Ohyeah, I know. I'm glad that
the Orioles are away in a differentcountry because I don't think they'd be getting
it in tonight if they were here. Yeah, and I love the new

(00:26):
announcement. I don't know if youguys follow real estate as well, but
I've been seeing the announcements all daythat the Blue Jays have a new owner
and it's Ryan Mountcastle. Oh mygosh, it's absolutely in state. Yeah,
he owns the team. He does, He absolutely does. I mean,
I've really never seen anything like it. It's honestly like comical at this

(00:50):
point. But those two home runslast night, and he's just he's on
a little bit of a tear, which is great to see. So I'm
looking and there's been a a racebetween the Yankees and the Orioles for the
most home runs in Major League Baseball. They might still be one ahead of
us, but we're neck and neck. I love that. Yeah, they're
neck and neck. It's it's kindof crazy. We thought the AL East

(01:14):
was going to be, you know, this dominant division, probably the best
in baseball, and it's really justa competition between the Orioles and the Yankees,
and record and home runs and allthat good stuff. Day lead Baseball
almost at every category of those twoteams. So it seems like they're the
only team to really compete with rightnow in the AL East. So I'm

(01:34):
looking and as we speak here atabout almost six o'clock on Wednesday, June
fifth, because you know on thepodcast people might hear it after the fact,
but at this moment, the O'shave ninety one home runs as a
team. The Yankees have ninety two. And well they've got Sono, They've
got Soto and Judge between the twoof them, who are really doing something.

(01:57):
But we've got like a bunch ofguys hitting home runs, right,
Yeah, that's the thing is theyhave, I mean have a few power
bats and Stanton Judge, Soto, you know, Rizzio a sneaky power sometimes,
but there's so many guys that hitfor power in this Orio's lineup.
I mean you saw it last night. She's the night before Side of season

(02:20):
high with four homers. They've gonetwenty six and three now or twenty seven
and three, I think twenty sixand three when they've hit two or more
home runs in a game, right, and so they continue to live and
die by the home run. ButI'll take it when they're living by the
home run, all right. Iwant to complain really quick. McCann got
ripped off last night. Did anybodysee that? That was insane? Oh?

(02:42):
Yes, yes, yes, itwas the umpires, all right,
the umpires this year. I don'tknow what it is. Why can they
not see Here's what happened in caseyou didn't see it. He got called
out. It was stupid because itwas the beginning of an inning where we
released Oarted, opening up the bats, and we scored some runs. But
mccam was in the batter's box.He did not block the catcher who was

(03:07):
trying to throw a ball to secondbase, and the umpire called him out
for blocking. Yeah, there's beenthere's been a couple of calls like that,
you know, the Orioles, therewas one earlier in the year,
and you know, just across baseball, it's it's so bizarre. I mean,
between calls like that, and thenjust I think the balls and strikes

(03:27):
this year have just been terrible. It seems like it gets worse every year,
but this year is really bad.And calls like that, It's like,
what is going on? So,look, our bats are working,
but the pitching is what we're stillconcerned about. Right, Yeah, a
lot of injuries. We got thenews that Tyler Wells and Johnny both needed
season ending surgery. Means had successfulTommy John on Monday, so that's good

(03:53):
for him. Not so that heneeded Tommy John. This is, you
know, his last year with anOrioles under Orioles contract, so it's possible
we've seen him throw his last inning, last ball in an Oriole's uniform.
So that's kind of sad to seebecause John Means is, you know,
he was here, he was pitchingwell when the team was bad. He

(04:15):
was their lone All Star selection intwenty nineteen. He's a great, great
person, done a lot for Baltimore. So that's really sad to see.
But I don't think they were relyingor maybe a stans We were counting on
him too much going to the season, so that's good. And Tyler Wells
seemed like he would eventually be abullpen piece, so that's not the biggest
loss. But recently, at leastthe guys that are playing right now in

(04:39):
this rotation are throwing this rotation ratherhave done a great job. He saw
a bounce back start from Grayson onMonday night. Was it the most dominant
performance we've seen out of him,but he had command of all his pitches,
pounded the zone loost really good. And then he saw Corbyn Burns,
who is just outstanding still hasn't letup more than three or in runs in
a game yet seven innings from him, and that saves the bullpen when we

(05:02):
get games like that. I mean, they were just able to cruise,
cruise through the bullpen last night.I think Web only through seven pitches and
that's the only like twelve, Sothat's that's really good to see. So
at least the guys that are inthis rotation are throwing well right now.
All but Albert swore As it's gettingthe start tonight and then it's still to
be determined on Thursday, but KatePovich did join the taxi squad in Toronto,

(05:29):
so it's possible it lined up thatthat Thursday would be his next turn
in the rotation, so it's possiblewe're gonna see Kate Povich make his debut
on Thursday. All right, you'reyou're kind of my inside contact to the
O's because you know a lot moreabout what's going on in the locker room
than than I do. So whatis the conversation on Connor Norby? Are

(05:49):
we happy with him? Is hegoing to just be around, you know,
for the for the short term whileyou know we have this injury to
deal with or what? Yeah,he I think that's what he is,
is the short term answer. Ithink if they were calling somebody up to
stay, especially at second base,it would be Jackson Holiday, right,

(06:09):
So I think that they called upConnor Norby means that it's just a temporary
stay until Jorge Mateo is back. But Connor Norby's a really talent. I
mean, he's a top prospect rightHe's a sixth in orders organization right now.
He's a French top one hundred prospectsin all of baseball. So he's
I mean, he's good enough tostay up here for a while. It's

(06:30):
nice because he can play the outfieldtoo, So you know, when you
have these outfielders not performing as greator you know, you can put him
in that outfield. He hits leftypitching really well, so I think it's
a temporary sixth here right now.But yes, sneaky speed, he makes
consistent contact. He hits for alittle bit of power, like you saw
last night. His first hit wasa home run. He's had. His

(06:51):
strikeout rate was a little bit upat Triple A this year, but he
still hit two eighty six and fiftyone games, gloved five to ten with
an eight eights. So hopefully hecan perform well while he's up with the
team, and maybe he'll get tostay a little bit longer than maybe we
expect. I love listening to youjust spittn out numbers because there goes Amy

(07:14):
Jennings your mass and you can justspit out numbers quicker than anybody can throw
it, quicker than anybody can throwa baseball. So you're so much fun.
And so the O's are nineteen gamesabove five hundred gone for that twenty
mark tonight. That would be incredible. That would be incredible. Yeah,
it would be incredible. And hey, it's another secure series when against an

(07:38):
Al's team that brings their streak totwenty series wins against the Al East.
So that's more important than anything, you know, losing that leepless streak,
Okay whatever, Yeah, who cancut out? But winning series is a
lot bigger deal in winning series againstyour division as even better. Well,
at this point, let me dosome math. You take, we're thirty
nine and twenty and we're that's ourwinning percentage of sixty one. So we

(08:01):
are on a path to winning onehundred and two hundred games this year.
See, you're pretty good with thenumbers there. Well, let's just hope
it continues. The thing that justamazes me is we're doing so well when
the Yankees are still still two anda half games out of us. That's
crazy, you know. But they'regoing to start losing at some point.

(08:24):
Yeah, and hopefully while the Ersare still winning. All right, Well
we'll see what happens. But anotherbig game north of the border tonight.
What are the Orioles doing after thisseries? I haven't looked at the schedule.
Let me see real quick. Theygo to Tampa. Oh that's right,
that's right, and then they're cominghome, and then they're coming back.
Yeah, all right, Then theycome back yep. All right,
Well, Amy Jennings, stay dry, be careful driving. It's really nasty.

(08:48):
I was just in the Beltway fortwo and a half hours. I
don't know if I've told you this, but I do. I commute back
and forth between Rockville and Baltimore everyday, one hundred miles. It's it's
two hours each way, and that'son a good day. And today nothing
but knuckleheads. That's what I dealtwith you, the entire a lot of

(09:09):
knuckleheads. Oh gosh, your patienceof me. So anyway, we'll talk
again soon, hopefully after another Orioleswin tonight. All right, sounds good?
All right, Amy, take carebabe, all right, bye bye
bye. All right, there's AmyJennings from Masson. She really is just

(09:33):
a great inside voice of what's goingon the Camden Yards and on the road
with the o's who are just amazingthis year. Let's go, Oh's thirty
nine and twenty going for the twentywin above five hundred mark tonight, let's go
