This is just sick. I do not understand why scammers
do what they do, but in this case, it all
turned out fine. This elderly couple was dangerously close to
losing twenty thousand dollars in a scam that started with
a computer virus and ended with a fake banking portal.
What happened is when the couple was told they were

getting a two hundred dollars rebate and instead scammers made
it look like they got twenty thousand dollars and then
they said, oh, we overpaid you, so you'll have to
pay us back. Well, the couple got suspicious. They ended
up calling their bank. Thank goodness, the bank froze their
assets and then police were able to recover the funds
that had already been picked up at the bank. What.

First off, what evil? Secondly, what a hassle. I know,
but glad they didn't lose at all.
