Court Johnson to the Morning Breeze.Bruno Mars on The Morning Breeze, Carolyn
McCardell Court Johnson, seven twenty two, Good morning Mother's Day officially Sunday.
(08:41):
If you didn't know this is yourofficial official you have been warned. The
Morning Breeze has informed you. Yes, there's a poll that came out that
said seven out of ten moms arevocal about what they want for Mother's Day.
Thirty eight percent say I want somethinghandmade, okay, thirty seven percent
I'd like some baked cookies, andanother thirty seven percent say I want a
(09:03):
spa day. So I think aboutthe handmaid gift and I immediately picture an
ashtray. Remember from the old days. Also, that's what we did in
the eighties. Sure most of ourmoms didn't smoke, but here's an ashtray.
Yeah. I made this in potteryclass. Yes, could be just
a lump of clay, but we'regoing to call it an ashtray and happy
Mother's Day. So how does thisgo in in the Court Johnson household Mother's
(09:24):
Day with your wife, Randy. You know it's interesting because I have this,
I have this policy. I reinforcedthis with my daughters. I'm like,
look, she's not my mom. What are we going to do?
Because I want the ideas to generatefrom them, but typically they keep coming
back to me. So already myoldest daughter, Quinn has already given her
a mug. Randy mentioned in passingsome mug she saw, and Quinn took
(09:46):
note of it and actually went toone of those ceramic places where you can
glaze and paint the mug yourself.Yeah. So she didn't make the mug,
but she painted it the way Randyhad seen this mug. So that's
that's already happened. Super sweet. Why did she give it to her earlier?
Is that an? I think I'mnot exactly sure why she was excited.
She was excited, Well, theyare and they are coming into town
this weekend, so maybe she didn'twant to have to pack a mug that
(10:07):
would end up going back, Yeah, or might chatter and yeah travel.
The handmaid stuff is really good, and you know we keep all of this
stuff. We have boxes and boxesof these handmade cards from the daughters.
Yea. The best is the littlecoupon books that you get so cute.
I'll vacuum, the carpets are allyeah, yeah, dust. The furniture,
yeah, we've we've never used them. We're just waiting to we get
(10:28):
a little older than we're gonna startcatching them in. Are you guys to
the point with your kids, becauseyour kids are a little older teenagers,
that you have looked back at allthe gifts that you've received over the years,
and you can have those moments whenit's just you, when Randy and
the kids are in bed or outor whatever, and you look back through
the gifts and go ooh, thiswas so cute when they gave us X,
Y Z. Oh. It's it'sNonStop these days, especially because they
(10:50):
want to spend less and less timewith us, So there's these moments of
reflection are happening all the time. You know, my oldest is graduating from
high school this year, and westill think of her as this little little
baby and probably always will. Yeah, and so yeah, we're so we're
having those moments and you know, you keep all this stuff, but yeah,
yeah, so cute. I lovethat stuff. Will If you have

on the breeze. So, Carolyn, I got a question for you.
Have you ever been bumped from aplane or had your flight full on canceled?
No, I've had delays. It'snever fully canceled or bobbed. Yeah,
it happened to me about a yearago, and they didn't tell us
(12:18):
why. But come to find out, they were having staffing issues. A
lot of places having staffing issues.Airlines are no different. But they didn't
have the flight crew because there hasto be like a certain number of hours
between flights and sleeping time if they'vebeen on and off, which is a
very good thing, by the way. I appreciated that support this, but
I just figure a company or abusiness that works within logistics like that,
(12:39):
they would have figured that part out. Yeah, but we got bumped and
they basically put us up in ahotel and then booked us, you know,
the next morning, okay to goback, but I had to miss
half a half a day of work. There. There's a bunch of issues
that that went into this. Sothe White House is actually now posing new
(13:00):
rules that would require airlines to compensatepassengers a little more significantly when they have
these types of flight delays, especiallywhen it's controllable. Oh yeah, because
the reality is most starlines aren't verygood at this, which is why.
Actually I was talking to our bossRickie the other day, He and I
both now buy the insurance, reallyget all of your money back. But
(13:20):
now the government's basically saying we shouldrequire this industry to pay that money back,
compensate, you hold them accountable.Happens. Yeah, yeah, and
they're gonna look at things like mealvouchers, overnight accommodations, rebooking, and
ground transportation to and from the hotel, because all that starts to factor in,
like I was a hungry little boythat they and they didn't provide any
(13:43):
of that. Obviously something to bethinking about because everybody right now is planning
their summer vacations booking those flights.Yea, again, I've started to buy
the insurance that's offered. It's youknow, it adds a little bit more
to your ticket, but it makesyou feel a little better. But yeah,
when the when the airline full onbumps you from a flight or cancels
it, they're gonna have to startpaying for it. Yeah. Nice,
(14:05):
it's good to hear that's coming, that there's going to be some accountability.
And I'm curious to know from ourBreeze listeners, like have you ever been
bumped? Have you had a delay? Was it significantly? What's the what's
the longest delay you've experienced, right, I'd love to hear from me.

talking earlier this morning about situations withflight delays and the fact that court was
(15:52):
you were saying a couple of minutesago that the government or the White House
is issuing an order sort of thatthese airlines are going to have to start
compensating people. Yeah, help peopleout when they get delayed or canceled.
And we're wondering if you've ever experienceda flight delay or heaven forbid, a
flight cancelation, Like what was yourexperience like Amy and Tracy, good morning.
I went on a trip. Iwas going to be traveling to Syracuse,
(16:14):
New York and it was a redeye, and it ended up that
the plane was delayed for four hoursand it flew into Rochester. So they
had to take the luggage off ofthe plane that I was on because they
did a transfer plane and they endedup losing my luggage in doing the transfer.
They sent it to Japan. Ohwow, Oh my gosh. All
(16:40):
right, right, and I'm supposedto be in New York for ten days.
They lost the bags that went toJapan, gave me a fifty dollars
voucher only to Walmart, and Ididn't end up getting my regular bag back
for nine days. Wow. Sofor nine days I'm in New York with
just the close on my back andthe flip flops that I had on,
(17:03):
and it was horrible. There wasno hotel voucher, there was no food
voucher, just a fifty dollars voucherfor Walmart. So have you traveled since?
And if so, were you nervous? I was a little nervous.
I went to Las Vegas and ourflight was delayed for three days with them,
Oh my god, wow, Amy, are you ever going to travel
