Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze. The Morning Breeze on Demand's Billy Joel
at six point twenty here on ninety eight point one
The Breeze. You've got the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cordon.
Before we get to the Morning Breeze Brain Teas, Carolyn,
we should acknowledge today is Veterans Day. Thank you. I
was going to do that, and uh, to all the
veterans that are listening to the Breeze, we thank you

(00:21):
for your service. Absolutely. I don't think we could ever
repay in any way the service and the sacrifice that
many of you have put forward. No, we are so grateful.
My father is a veteran and most of my brothers
are also in the Armed forces. So oh wow.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
Well, to all of our veterans that are listening, thank you.
We really appreciate we do.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
So.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Now we move into the Morning Breeze Brain Teas. It's
sponsored by Mike Counsel Plumbing. You're in clean hands with
Mike Council Plumbing. Visit them at mc plumbing dot com.
One third of people do not like it when others
do this at work.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Okay eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one.
That's how you reach us with your guesses. You can
also use our iHeartRadio app with that talkback microphone. It's
my in San Jose. Good morning. You've got a guest
for us. What do you think?

Speaker 1 (01:08):
And the answer is, talk out loud, talk out loud.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
You ever sat in a cubicle next to somebody who
talks out loud?

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Did you?

Speaker 3 (01:17):
My?

Speaker 1 (01:18):
I have? Yeah, it's it's tough because they've they've taken
cubicles which used to have high walls, and now they've
made them like super low profile.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Like you're a telepa, gonna have the open concept, like
you're a telemarketer. Yeah, and now you hear everything.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yes, Yeah, that's pretty solid answer, but it's not the
correct answer, not the answer we're looking for today.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Well, thank you for listening and thanks for calling and
playing along.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
You too, you too, bye?

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Like all right, Stephanie and Lafayette, you're up.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
What do you think?

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Clicking their pen? Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:53):
A pen clicker? The pan?

Speaker 2 (01:56):
I work with a pen clicker and I don't court Mmm.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
That's a good guess. Yeah, it's a.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Really good one.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Is that the answer?

Speaker 2 (02:05):
It's not the answer that you're looking for, because I
still think that answer is right just not right by
your standard, not by.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
By right by what what is written in front of me? Okay,
what is the answer. One third of people say they
do not like it when people wear too much perfume,
perfume or cologne to work.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Oh, do you have one of those in your office stuff?
I think that's so honest.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I don't mind. I don't mind a little colonne or perfume,
But when when you can smell them from down the hall?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Yeah, but if it smells good, we have someone here
where you know this person is at work when you
walk in the door, you know if they're here or not.
And I enjoy the We'll say it's a man. I
enjoy the cologne that this man wears.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
You actually had. You had me walk into another room
just this morning to see if I could smell it too,
and I could and it was good, right good? Yeah,
it was great.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
See.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
But imagine though, if you're in a cubicle and you're
working next to this all day long and it's not
a great wait smell.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
And I'm wondering, Stephanie, how do you know that you're
the person, because usually you can't smell how strong your
own scent is from perfume or cologne.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Well, usually I get people that say, oh I really
really good.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Okay you're commenting on Okay, I have a good one.
Thank you for listening. All right, thank you, bye bye bye.
Think about all these people that are wearing perfume today,
are going to be a little paranoid, wearing too much
to tease you.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Don't wear cologne. I just I don't smell. I never
see colone.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
No.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
I just figure my natural musk is enough. You can
say that again. The essence of courts is is plenty.
I know I occasionally will wear cologne, but like, I
don't feel like it's appropriate for me to wear it
to work, Like, oh, I feel like it. I feel
like cologne is like going out and going to like
a fancy event on the town, you go clubbing.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yeah, all right, Morning Breeze Brain teas we play every
weekday morning at six twenty five. Always invite you to
join us. And of course if you haven't heard, which

you reach us. Tony in Fairfield has a question for us.
So Tony, all right, ask us anything.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I was wondering. Since I'm going to Hawaii, you guys
would be the best to know. Is there an app
I will miss you? Guys, is there an app that
I can download and listen to the radio station when
I'm in Hawaii. Oh?

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Yes, it's like the perfect question, It really is. Take it, Court.
There is an app. It's called the iHeartRadio App. It's
free in your app store and you can stream the
Breeze anywhere in the world on the app.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Oh that's awesome because I really love you guys.

I need it listen to you.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Another great thing about the app, Tony, is that you
can also send us talkbacks with the app, So if
you can't make a phone call, you can just send
us messages using the app.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
And we would love for you to check in while
you're in Hawaii. Send us a talkback. It's just that
microphone button right there on the app.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I totally will have a great day. We'll have a
good trip to Hawaii.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Tell it we said hello or will helloh ah, all right, goodbye, Tony.
You know, we have heard from so many people, Court
that go on vacation send us a talkback. It is
like the greatest compliment that you would go on vacation

(06:25):
and think of our show home.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
And take us along with you.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
No, it's so nice. So Tony have a great trip
and we look forward to that talkback. And yes, you
can send us a talk back anytime. As I just
mentioned with our app, it's it's the microphone button. I
realized I said the same thing like five seconds ago.
But the microphone button up in the top corner of
the app.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
Say it again one more time, just to review.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Just use our app and then there's a microphone button.
It's in the top right corner, and then you just
push it and you speak into this. It's just very
easy though. It's very easy, and it's asked us anything,
and we do it every weekday morning.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
At this time, I think I got it. Okay, I
got that. Hey, coming up later in the show A

you just celebrate Thanksgiving when you can celebrate.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
And the best part is the breeze will be with
you after the holiday because you get to celebrate again

I'm a gidy advisor, so nice.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
When I was in high school, I wanted my first
job to be at Macy's and I wanted to spend
my entire life working for Macy's. Mostly because I like
the font of Macy's. It's so perfectly ritch.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
That's the number one reason why that.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Was my first attraction. But Macy's clothing. When I was
back in the day, that was Macy's. Yeah, big fan, Yeah,
a big fan.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
It's still I'm still a big fan. And that's why
I buy all my stuck is I get now. I
fail really cheap and I don't make them Yeah, it's great.
I love it. I'm going to have my seven year
anniversary next week.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
My gosh, Kelly, that is so cool.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
And I started as a seasonal temp when I cut
laid off with my tech job and I was looking
for a job for the holidays. And I started as
a seasonal temp at Christmas time seven years ago.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
And you've been there ever since seven years later.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Here you are.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Yeah. Yeah, they promote you all the time, and they
have good perks, and it's like ten minutes from my house.
So it's great.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Oh, my gosh, that totally worked out for you. That
is so cool. Yeah. What do you like the most
about your job?

Speaker 2 (09:53):
Because you said you're working in the beauty department, right,
so you are one of the people that gets to
like when we come in and we're like, we want
to try a new you look or some new makeup.
Are you the person that is helping us out?

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Yes? I am. My counter is an essay lauder.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Okay ooh nice fans here. Yeah, you and I need
to connect offline.

Speaker 3 (10:13):

Speaker 1 (10:16):
You got it.

Speaker 3 (10:17):
I can give you some good makeup tricks and tips
and some goodies.

Speaker 2 (10:22):

work with here, Kelly.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
I would love it. I would love for you to
come over.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Really, it's got to be super fulfilling of a job
because your your job is basically to make people look
good and make them and in turn that makes them
feel good about.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Themselves feel good. Right. Yeah, I have a lot of
clients that I've worked with over the years, and so
I've worked at three different counters. So I worked at
Landcombe and also she said, oh so I have a
good mix of customers. Yeah, and they love me.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
Fun job you have that is so great, and you're
listening to the breeze, I mean you stay.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Thank you better for any of us.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
Yeah, thank you, and you both have a great day too.
Thank you all right bye Kelly, by Kelly, bye bye.

It is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court. We
do it every weekday morning at this time. It is
the More You Know and it is sponsored by the
San Francisco Symphony.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Stalking Shoes, Stalk and Shoes. And before I tell you
what shoe is now being considered a dad shoe? Do
you want to take a stab at this? You want
to make a guess?

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Yes, so you said that there is a shoe that
is now being labeled a dad shoe by the kids.
But you're surprised that it happens so quick.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Wildly popular shoe that when within the past five years
you could walk into any middle school in high school
and probably ninety percent of the kids we're wearing this shoe. Oh,
within the past five years.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Okay, so my first guest was in air Jordan, but
I still think those are cool for the kids, Like the.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Kids still think they're cool.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Jordan's they always So now I'm gonna I'm gonna shift
my guests to the crocs.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Is that right? What is that not a shoe? Are
those cool? Who are those ever cool?

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (12:20):
They were cool.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Everybody was wearing crocs from minute. I didn't necessarily think
that did you wear them? No? Never wore a croc
in my life, but I don't.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
I don't want to judge anybody's fashion choice.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
No, a lot of people wear crocs here. They're wildly comfortable.
But no, so I'm wrong. I'm both You're wrong on both.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
No, what I'm talking about is the Nike air Force One,
which is a shoe. That's it is. It has been
around since the early eighties. But if you type in
air Force one, like even just new white Nike air
Force one, you're gonna see a picture of this shoe.
Oh yeah, I know this shoe. Every kid in America

(12:57):
shoe was wearing these shoes up until just a couple
of years.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Actually, I think I have a pair of these with
an orange Yeah, I mean yeah, they do. They do
have ones that are have different colors and.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Such on them. It's dad shoeish, I will see this.
They're saying, it's dad shoeish because it has the characteristics
I'm doing quotation marks of a dad shoe, which is
that they're comfortable, chunky, and sometimes neutral in color. Oh kids,
my again. I cannot tell you the amount of money
and the number of air Force Ones that went through

(13:30):
my house because that was the shoe. In fact, I
remember stating once Nike could solve a lot of problems
in the world by just sending every kid in America
a pair of Air Force ones, because everybody was wearing
these shoes everybody.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
I think you and I both have the same pair
of shoes. The orange and black ones that we have.
Are those ones, they're not.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
That's from their skateboarding line. Carolyn.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Oh, okay, okay, yes, Court and I have twin shoes
for another day.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
No, but those the white pair of shoes you see
me wearing, Yeah, those are air Force ones. They're white
air Force ones. Okay. And I saw my daughters wearing them,
and I thought, oh, those are cool. I'll start wearing those.
And I can't believe those are dad shoes. Apparently that
was the mistake I made. Okay, these kids, you just
can't keep up with them. It's an interesting question, though,
because if you think about the shoes that you wore

(14:21):
as a kid, in some cases, those shoes are aren't
even around anymore.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
I know. You know what the shoe for me as
a kid that was the jam was the case Swiss?
Oh sure, yeah, remember the white Casewiss. They always took
the skin off the back of your heel. But once
you broke them in and the bleeding stop and you
were a great shoe ran.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
It when she ran out of skin. I love those
shoes so much. We have asked a question on our
Breeze Facebook page, what was your favorite pair of shoes
or kind of shoes as a kid, And we're doing
all sorts.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Of great answers, so many great answers. And shout out
to the ladies that are posting the La Gear. That
was a shoe for the girls. Paula Abdul Right, rock
the La Gears. There's converse on here. You put kangaroo kangaroos.
A couple people put yeah, they had the.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Little secret pocket in the tongue. Hid your lunch reebox?

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Remember rebox with the velcro straps on the top, on
the high top. Sure, oh, this is a list Vans.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
This is great.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Okay, join this question on our Facebook page. Your favorite
shoe is a kid that's at ninety eight one the
Breeze on Facebook. You can call us eight seven seven
nine eight one oh nine eight one.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
And of course, don't forget our annual tradition of taking
the stress out of your holidays. Continues with Complete Thanksgiving Dinners.

large family, so whatever I can contribute to it, that
would be great.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
What is something that is always on the dinner table
for Thanksgiving? Of course turkey? Yeah, of course, Stuffy's sure.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
The sweet potato with marshmallows and pineapple and apple in it.
I put apple and pineapple in it.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
To make it happen.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yeah, it does great.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
I'm writing it down right now like I gotta try this.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
And I just love that You're like, whatever I contribute,
you're gonna You're gonna do it all now because we're
giving you a complete dinner.

Speaker 1 (16:45):

Speaker 2 (16:52):
All right, so you're welcome. What's your name and where
are you listening to us here?

Speaker 3 (16:57):
From Simeose, My name is Romelia Lopez.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
All right, Romelia, a complete Thanksgiving dinner for you. It
is from our friends at Premiere one Credit Union. This
is an annual tradition, as you know, of ours here
on the Breeze, trying to take the stress out of
your holidays. We do it every hour on the hour,
from six in the morning until six at night.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Oh you know how much that house out it does.
It helps a lot.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
We are so happy to help out.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
Holidays to both of you. Happy against point, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Bye bye bye, And we should remind everybody we're doing
this again all day long, from six in the morning
until six at night, which means your next chance to
win happening at nine am here on the morning Breeze.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
That is correct, and you can file this under reason
number seven hundred and ninety two court that I am
turning into my mother.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
I took a quick.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Trip to Arizona recently, and as I was getting to
getting ready to leave my house, I went into my
wallet and grabbed a couple of dollar bills out and
put them in my pocket so that I could prep
for that when I.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Was on the shuttle.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
Oh for the tip for the off airport parking tip
that I had it. Now, most normal people would just
grab that tip, probably when they're in the shuttle getting
ready to be dropped off at the airport. But not
my family, and by that I mean not my mother
and not me. I remember watching my mom do this
for years when I was a kid, even a young adult,

(18:18):
and we would go anywhere and she'd be like, I
got to get my tip money out. I'm like, Mom,
wait till you get to the airport or whatever you
woul in a hurry for.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
And here I am.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
And if that wasn't bad enough, I got a couple
more dollars and put it in my bag for the
return trip before I even went on my trip, so
that when I came back, I had my two dollars
ready to tip back.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
I don't know I like this move. I think it's
a pro traveler move because you're ready to go. It's
just in there in your pocket, you grab it out,
you hand it to them. It totally works. It's not
that awkward scramble of looking through your purse or grabbing
your wallet one least thing to think about. Yeah, I
think this is smart.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Planning a trip is key, like all aspects of the trip,
and that is the one for me that just made
it easier, made it day.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
And if that is number seven hundred and ninety four
the reasons why you're becoming like your mom, I'm also
a good thing. It's a great thing. Thank you, courage.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
All right, we're at eight seven seven, one nine eight
when you can send us a message with our iHeartRadio app.
We have that talkback microphone on our app that you're
welcome to use that to send a message.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
A lot of people do.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
And a reminder that coming up later this hour at
eight fifty to start off your workday. We do it
every weekday. We're going to be commercial free.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
Yeah. That means ninety eight minutes of NonStop, commercial free,
relaxing favorites and we'll kick that off at eight fifty
here on the morning Breeze. Good morning everybody. Is this
Claudia from Brockln, California. I just wanted to say to
all our veterans, Happy Veterans Day and thank you for
your service. Have a great day. That is a great
message and a talkback from our free iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Yes, and to all of the veterans, thank you for
your service to our country. I know you have veterans
in your family as well. My family and both my
in laws are our veterans as well.

Speaker 1 (20:03):

Stuff You Should Know
Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
