courtesy of Premiere One Credit Union as we help take
the stress out of your holidays. It's an annual tradition
here at the Breeze doing this every hour on the hour.
We just kicked it off with you. We are going

Thank you, thick gay guys.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Okay, you too, Gabriel and your next chance to win
a complete Thanksgiving dinner.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Here on the Breeze, coming up seven o'clock and coming.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Up next here on the Morning Breeze. It's the Morning
Breeze brain Teas. Older Americans are officially spending more time
here than younger generations. The question is where is here?
Okay eight seven seven one, nine eight one. If you've
got the answer, call us. We're going to play the.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Brain teas next and burn the breeze naked eyes. Six two.
Good morning. It is the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court.
We do it every weekday morning at this time. The
Morning Breeze brain Tea sponsored by My Council Plumbing. You're
in clean hands with My Counsel Plumbing. See them online
mc plumbing dot com. Today's question, Older Americans are officially

(02:05):
spending more time here than younger generations. You know, I
have been thinking about this one and I'm wondering if
you're throwing a red herring at us, where it's like
it's it's not the obvious or it is the obvious.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Sorry, I'm over here scratching my beard. I'm pondering what
you just said, as you should.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
I'm wondering if the answer is going to the gym,
Like you wouldn't think that that would be the case,
but maybe that is the case. Maybe that is the answer.
I think what I'm starting to do with the brain
tease is try and get in your brain. How would
Court think? How would Court write this? And so therefore
my guess is possibly going to the gym.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Oftentimes there are very subtle clues within the question of
how I'm freezing the question. So again, for today, older
older Americans are officially spending more time here than younger generations.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, I'm not getting that closed.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
So you you said, Jim, and I say, nope, Okay,
it's not to Jim.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
I thought it might be that, all right, eight seven
seven nine eight one oh nine eight one. If I
got it, that would be so bad because people are
calling and I'd be okay, sorry, game's over coming up next.
All right, all right, we're gonna start with you, Adele
in Millbray, Good morning. What do you think in the
answer is a cruise on a cruise.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
My parents became big time cruisers in their later years,
so that's it's probably a very accurate guess, Adele.

Speaker 6 (03:34):
But it's not the correct it's not.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
The correct We've got you trained, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
You did.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
But that was a lot of fun, Adele. Thank you
for calling. Have a great rest of your day.

Speaker 6 (03:46):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
All right, bye bye.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
All right, let's have someone else try. Trina in San Francisco,
what do you guess in this morning? For the brain tease? Oh,
isn't that so true? Oh my gosh, that is so
I mean, that is not the right answer. It's not
the right answer.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
That is still such an accurate guess.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Though, China. This is going to surprise a lot of people,
because the correct answer is older Americans are officially spending
more time online than younger generations. Oh me, present company excluded.

Speaker 6 (04:24):
All right, thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
You're welcome. You're welcome.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
It is such an interesting thing to think about, just
the older generations again, spending more time online than younger generations.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Well, I think you know, older generations tend to be retired,
so they're spending more time at home, so they have
more time to do that. I certainly know retired people
in like my world that are always online, sure, and
always sending me videos and always the first to comment
on my things, which I love. By the way, keep
doing it. But I think maybe that's.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Part of it.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
But also, wasn't there a shift a while ago where
we even talked about this that younger generations are spending
less time online. Remember they were going to get rid
of their iPhones for a minute, or their smartphones and
they were going to go back to flip phones.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
So maybe there was a shift topal. So this could
be a good trend if you're worried about the younger generations.
But now we got to worry about the older generations.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
Oh my gosh, I know, it's a whole other battle.
We just transferred it to another generation. All right, Morning Bres,
brain teas we do it every weekday morning here at
six point twenty. Always invite you to join us. You
can call us for anything eight seven seven nine eight
one oh nine eight one.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
So in case you missed it, moments ago, Gabriel became
our first winner of a complete Thanksgiving dinner. Yeah, I'm
going to share with this family. He's got grandkids, I know,
so fun. It's all part of our annual tradition to
take the stress out of your holidays with complete Thanksgiving dinners.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
We do it every hour on the hour, starting at
six in the morning today with Gabriel going until six
at night. We are definitely trying to take the stress
out of your holidays. If this is one less thing
for you to have to do this holiday season, then
we've done our jobs. So be you're at seven. That
is your next chance to win on the Breeze.

Speaker 1 (06:04):

Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cordon. That's that time of
the show. We're returning over to you with your questions.

a couple of different ways. You can send us to
them through our website using email, you can DM this.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Oh yes, social media yep.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
You can send us a talk back using our free
iHeartRadio app, or you can call us go old school
eight seven seven nine eight one, nine eight one.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
That's what Aloisa did. She's listening in San Bruno. She
is on hold right now. All right, Eloisa, ask us anything, if,
if this.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Is the right question, can you tell me how old
are you?

Speaker 2 (06:45):
How old we are?

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Will you say all the time that you're well, wait
a minute, how old do you think we are?

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Yeah, there we go, that's the way.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Oh my gosh, like you. I will say you're looking fifties.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Me thirties maybe, okay?

Speaker 4 (07:04):
Uh? Well, ac truly no no, no, him him, I'll be.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Maybe for early fifties, okay.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
All right, early and then you are forty five?

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Okay, good guesses els twenty nine, twenty nine.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
You are twenty nine.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
No, no, but I would like to thank you for
your guesses, Eloisa.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
We are so happy you're on there with us right now,
telling the whole day area about Court being in his
early fifties and me being forty five.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Well, just you were, you were forty eight, thirty, you
were thirty eight.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
I'm forty eighth, forty eight, and I as to your guests,
and we're gonna leave it at that.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Ah. Oh, thanks, but you don't gotta tell me how
old you are. It's a little bit hard for me
to ask, because you know, some of us ladies.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Don't like you exactly exactly exactly.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
I'm not. I am not that way. But yes, I
thought twice to call you and ask you.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
Oh, you could call any time, Elouis.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
I just won't tell you.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
You're welcome. She's close, you say she was close, she's
in the ballpark.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Okay, all right, Why am I sweat? I'm not going
to be so hot in here all of a sudden,
I don't know what to say here.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
She was close, she was close. Sorry.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
That's how it works.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
Ask us anything, and we will, I guess we ask
answer almost all.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
We will were in a roundabout way. We will answer
some questions.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
All right, we're at eight seven seven nine eight one
nine eight one. Send us a talk back with our
free IHEARTRADIOPP. That's another way for you to ask us questions.
And like Court mentioned a few minutes ago, you can
always send us a message through social media. Plenty of
ways to get to us here for ask us anything
on the breeze and here is something we will be
very straightforward about. If you're wondering if we're giving away
another complete Thanksgiving dinner at seven o'clock. Yes, the answer

(09:05):
is heck.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Yes, absolutely.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
All part of our annual tradition here on the Breeze
of trying to take the stress out of your holidays.
We've been doing this for so many years now, I've
actually lost count. And that's a good thing. Yeah, complete
Thanksgiving dinners. We do it every hour on the hour,
from six in the morning till six at night. So
coming up at seven your next chance.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
It's the morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court and we're
getting away. Complete Thanksgiving dinners every hour on the hour.
And congratulations to you your color twenty you have one.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
Oh my gosh, thank you.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
You.

Speaker 6 (09:39):
Oh my god, it was amazing.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Oh my gosh. We are so happy for you.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Who are you?

Speaker 6 (09:44):
I am Teresa.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Were you listening to us, Teresa.

Speaker 6 (09:48):
In Santa Rosa. It's going to help my neighbors out
very well. They're going to be so happy.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
It's going to help your neighbors out. What does that mean?

Speaker 1 (09:57):
Are you having them over?

Speaker 6 (09:58):
I'm giving it to them.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
Oh wow.

Speaker 6 (10:03):
They lost their job. He was a federal worker and
they've been displaced. And so we've been helping him as
much as you can and this is going to help him.
She's been really down thinking, you know, the holidays are
coming and I'm not sure what they can do, and
so I said, you know what, I know the Breeze

(10:25):
always says this every year. Let me see if I
can get you one.

Speaker 7 (10:29):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
And it's like, wow, it's very ironic, Theresa, that you
are seven o'clock winner, because you know, every weekday morning
at this time, we do the brighter side. So in
a way, not only are you our winner right now,
but you've just become our brighter side as well. Honestly,
because well you you gifting this to your neighbors is unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (10:50):
Oh, it's at least. Oh, I'm quite excited.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Yeah, And we have this happened from time to time
people when the Thanksgiving dinners and they realize that somebody
else can use it more than them, and they whether
it's a neighbor or a family member, it's such such
a great thing that you're doing. Teresa.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
Well, thank you so much. I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Ah, well, congratulations, thank you all for well.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
You know, honestly, this.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Is the brainchild of our boss. To give him credit,
because he's very quiet behind the scenes about it. And
doesn't take credit, and this is his baby. We've been
doing this since the Breeze launched back in what twenty
twenty sixteen, and we do it every year and people
just appreciate it like you and do all sorts of things.

(11:37):
Some people need it, some people gift it like you are,
I mean. And it's all his doing, So credit to him,
and of course to Premiere One Credit Union for funding that.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
Of course without them, we wouldn't be able to do this.
So congratulations, Teresa, you have officially won, as well as
your neighbors a complete Thanksgiving dinner, this annual tradition, taking
the stress out of your holidays. And don't forget everybody else.
We're doing us every hour on the hour. We started
at six o'clock this morning. We'll go until six o'clock tonight,
which means your next chance to win is coming up
at eight o'clock here on the Breeze.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
Oh gosh, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Seven twenty six and the Eagles here on ninety eight
point one the Breeze. You've got the Morning Breeze with
Carolyn and Cord, and I'm going to kick things off
here Carolyn with a quote from one Henry Ford. Oh wow,
what a show this morning. Anyone who stops learning is old,
whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.

(12:33):
Thank you Henry Ford, and thank you Court. Which is
why we love to bring you The More you Know
sponsored by the San Francisco Symphony. That is a really
tough setup to follow. You better teach us something. This
is what I'm doing, what I'm bringing you with The
More you Know.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
Wow, get ready to let the air out of that balloon.
So a place that I spent a good portion of
my childhood at is closing. They're closing hundreds of locations
across the United States. There's a good chance that you
have probably spent a good portion of your time here
as well over the years.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
I'm talking about Wendy's Restaurants.

Speaker 3 (13:12):
Wendy's said they are closing between two hundred and three
hundred and fifty locations over the coming months into twenty
twenty six. It's because they have several locations and their
franchise that are really underperforming and they're bringing sales down overall,
so they need to close those locations. And while they're
closing those locations, they're also going to like revamp the

(13:32):
existing locations, hoping they can increase their profits.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Who knew that Wendy's was struggling this way the House.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Of the Square Patty.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
That's exactly right, man.

Speaker 3 (13:41):
I used to love Wendy's back in the day. My
friends would go to the Wendy's on Monument Boulevard and
Conquered and we would sit there and I would get
myself a baked potato potato because that's all I could
afford it by ninety nine cents h and I would
eat that potato, and if somebody in my group got
a hamburger, I was like, how they get so rich
a burger? So that for me growing up, we did

(14:04):
Wendy's a lot. But I started thinking about, like other
fast food restaurants, like your go to fast food restaurants
if you were a kid, if you were a child
in the seventies or the eighties or even the nineties,
you went.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
To a lot of fast food.

Speaker 7 (14:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
My mom tells stories of the old A and W restaurants,
which were kind of more restaurant ye than fast food,
but they were fast food. That's that's technically fast food. Yeah,
So they would they would pile all those kids into
the station wagon. We'd go to anw for dinner every night.
I have no memory of that. My memory is full
on McDonald's and my favorite thing in the world and
it kind of still is today is going into McDonald's

(14:39):
during breakfast and the smell of the McDonald's coffee and
the and the sausage and McMuffin with egg and all
that breakfast food.

Speaker 6 (14:48):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Yeah, it's just like I just love it.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
See, we never went to McDonald's for breakfast. That was like,
I don't know, it wasn't off limits, but we just
never did. I think we did Winchle's Donuts and conquered sure,
but McDonald's for us was dinner. It was a special treat,
like maybe once a month, and we would go when
the chicken well, first we went cheeseburgers because gotta love those.
You could eat like three of those, But when the

(15:13):
chicken nuggets came out, oh yeah, and you could do
like a five piece or a six piece or a
twenty My brother Rogan would crush a twenty piece no problem.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Did you ever have a friend invite you to a
birthday party at McDonald's.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Oh with the play structure.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Yes, that was a chin that was special. Yeah. Wow,
had like they had this big cooler full of their
orange drink.

Speaker 2 (15:35):
Yeah, Fanta. You know what, I'm realizing, we are old.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
We just have good memories.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
We put this question on our Facebook page at ninety
eight one of the breeze what was your favorite fast
food place as a kid, And the first comment I
see is from Cindy. She also said McDonald's. She said,
was a huge thing when we were little. Whenever Grandma
would come to watch us, we would go there. It
was always a grandparent thing. It would always take in McDonald's.
But she said that her grandma used to steal the
ketchup packets and one day Cindy opened her grandma's glove

(16:04):
compartment and it was just full.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Of catch up. He's always ready.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Oh good, So join that conversation on our Facebook page
or call us with your favorite like fast food restaurant memory, and.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Maybe head to your local Wendy soon because it might
be closing down.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Do they still do the square patty? Sure they do.
Oh they do, Oh they do. How do you know
I've they frequented Wendy's in the recent past. All right again?

Speaker 3 (16:29):
Eight seven, seven, nine, eight one, or send us a
talk back with our iHeartRadio app and be.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
Sure to join us at eight o'clock this morning as
we continue to take the stress out of your holidays
with Complete Thanksgiving Dinners. We're doing this every hour on
the hour, from six in the morning until six at night.
Your chance to win this complete Thanksgiving Dinner.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
Yeah, this is an annual tradition of ours. We are
having such a good time doing this with and for you,
and we will have another chance to win coming up
at eight on the Breeze.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
It's the morning Breeze. It's Carolyn and Court. We were
talking a few minutes ago.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
Go about Wendy's closing hundreds of locations across the United States,
and it takes us back to growing up going to
fast food restaurants.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
How much fun that was, all the memories.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Good Morning West and Conquered.

Speaker 7 (17:12):
We had a Wendy's in Cody, Wyoming, which was touristy
and that was like the big deal. When you go
over to the Walmart, you know, that was like the thing, Oh,
we're going to Walmart and you drive over to Cody
and then you get to go to the Wendy's and
actually eat there.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
You know, Court kind of alluded to this earlier when
you would go into the restaurant to eat. Sure, you
leveled it up that special versus taking it home in
the station wagon. When you actually got to go into
the fast food restaurant and sit down in those plastic
chairs and eat a meal.

Speaker 7 (17:42):
Oh yeah, it was pretty often. It was like when
they built the play structure in the McDonald's over there.
It was like if you got your like Cord was saying,
that was your birthday, you're pretty swaying because you had
to pay for them. Oh god, we're dating ourselves, people know.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
But you know what, this is the best conversation because
it take it's taking all of us right back to
that special place in time, like the fact you had
to pay McDonald's to use their place, a special room,
special area.

Speaker 7 (18:11):
It was like fifteen bucks or twenty bucks or something.
But you know back and then you know eight but
that was a lot of money. It was, well, you guys,
have a good one. I'm getting ready to go into work.
You'll have a good day. We'll get you again.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Let's take care. Bye bye bye guy.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
That is Jason Moraz It's eight o nine It is
the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cort an annual tradition
of ours giving away complete Thanksgiving dinners every hour on
the hour. Here on the Breeze, Nanette from San Ramon
one just now. She was so excited and from what.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
I recall, mashed potatoes and gravy is like number one
on her must list that's going to be on the
Thanksgiving Day dinner.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
We had a whole conversation with her off the air
and we were like, what what's your go to for Thanksgiving?
For her, definitely the mashed potatoes and gravy. I said,
well the rest is just gravy. If you nail the
mash potatoes and gravery gravy. So congratulations to her and
thank you again Premiere one Credit Union. This is an
annual tradition, as I mentioned, and they make it possible
every year.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
We do this every hour on the hour from six
in the morning until six at night. So that means
your next chance to win is happening at nine o'clock
this morning.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
That is correct, Court Chansons.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
So Carolyn, let me ask you this. We both take
ubers on occasion, sure, and every uber or lift experience
is different. You've got different drivers, You're going different places
for sure. Have you ever had a driver have a
car symbol? What does that mean? So I'm not talking
about the symbol that's on your car, like like if

(19:45):
it's a Honda, it's got the little honted, it's a logo. Yeah,
it's not that kind of symbol. I'm talking about a
musical instrument that's a symbol. But it's called a car symbol.
Oh like a symbol to play like, but this is
small and miniature, and it attaches to your air vent.
And so as you're playing air drums or banging on
your steering wheel as one might do this. Oh yeah,

(20:08):
of course it during a thirty minute drive. Oh court,
I got to hear my friend drum away with his symbol.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
So the symbol attaches to the air vent. And then
did your driver have drumsticks? No, you just use your
hands because it's like, you know, like you're sitting there
in traffic and you're like.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
You can hit your steering wheel. E. Phil Collins is
playing on the breeze oh in the air tonight, and
you're like, and then you need that, you need that
crash symbol at the end. That's what it's for. It's
just for the like the crash, the.

Speaker 3 (20:42):
That's I've heard a lot of uber stories or rideshare stories.
I don't know if the uber left, but that's my
favorite one. And the fact that it happened to you
makes it an even better story. He was when I
will be honest with you, the first five minutes, it
was very, very symbol heavy on a symbol happened now
and I think I think he realized what was going

(21:04):
on and he toned it down a bit.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Let me let me ask you a question.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Yeah, do you ever have things happen to you in
life like that and your first thought is, I'm taking
this right to the air on a breeze. I do

Stuff You Should Know
Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
