Speaker 2 (00:58):
All right. The average per person stops doing this on
their own at age twenty nine.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine eight one.
Do you think you have the answer to this morning's
brain teast? What a way to start off your Friday. Yeah,
if you get this right, man, we will play next
on the Breeze at Birth the Breeze. It's Richard Marks
on the Morning Breeze. Happy Friday morning to you. It's
Carolyn and Cord and it is time for the Morning

(01:26):
Breeze brain teas. We do it every weekday morning at
this time. It's sponsored by our friends at my Counsel
Plumbing see them online MCEE plumbing dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
The average person stops doing this on their own at
age twenty nine, and we.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Are at eight seven seven nine eight one oh nine
eight one. You can always send in your guesses with
our talkback microphone on our iHeartRadio app. It's Sue in
Santa Rosa. Good morning. What do you think the answer
is to today's brain tease?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Go to the clubs by yourself? Oh oh yeah, or
just for me going to the clubs at all?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
All right, But you know I was a very free person,
so you know going to the club by myself was
no big deal. Sure, and when you get older, your
friends are.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
All coupled up, but you don't want to go out
alone because you don't want.

Speaker 5 (02:13):
To look like that person.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Then why bother when you could just stay home? That's
what we all just really want to do. When was
the last time you went to the club?

Speaker 2 (02:23):
I don't even know the last club I went to.
I think it was like W P.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
L j'son Walnut Creek, and just based on the name,
it is what it sounds like. Right, Okay, yeah, how
about you court, When was the last time you went
to a club?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:35):
I've never been to a club, That's what I thought.
I'm not the club going type.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Great answer, Yeah, and fun conversation around that too. That's
trip down memory lane.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
But not the answer. We're looking forward today, all right,
I'm a great day. Guys. You do to buy Sue
Nikki in Daily City? What do you think the answer is?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
So?

Speaker 4 (02:53):
I think maybe taxes, because I think like you don't
really have like either a full time job when you're younger, so.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
You don't, or your taxes are easy because it's just
a simple like ten to forty easy form.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Espectually, right, Yeah, you're talking my language.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
And as you get older, as you get older, and
you buy a house and you have more money, you
probably need somebody to help you with your taxes located.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
Well, Nikki, guess what you are one hundred percent correct?
She got it. Yeah, no, are you serious? The average
person in America stops doing their own taxes at the
age of twenty nine. What a smart gass. And you
totally worked it out.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
That's so funny. Wow, my fiance, my fiance was.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Here in the So you're at home playing the brain
teas with your fiance.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Yeah, he was in the kitchen making his coffee and
he just was like, what about taxes?

Speaker 5 (03:51):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (03:51):
I love it. I love when couples call and play.
It's always fun right. Yeah, Well, you guys did it.
Congratulations and thank you for listening to our station, and
thanks for listening to our show. We really really appreciate it,
we do.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Thanks you guys, have a great one.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Gature you too, Bye, very bye.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
It's the Morning Breeze Raine Tees and we do it
every weekday morning here at six point twenty here on
the Morning Breeze.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
And just remember coming up at seven o'clock. Our annual
tradition here on the Breeze continue. So giving away complete
Thanksgiving dinners as we try to take the stress out
of your holidays.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, you don't want to miss out on this. A
complete Thanksgiving dinner every hour on the hour, from six
in the morning until six at night. And as Carolyn mentioned,
seven o'clock your next chance to win. Here on the breeze,
Michael Jackson at six forty one. Here on ninety eight
point one the breeze. You've got the morning breeze with
Carolyn and Court and it is time for ask us anything.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
We do it every weekday morning right around six point
forty a chance for you to call and ask us
anything that is on your mind. Eight seven, seven nine,
eight one oh one. It has been great this week.
We've had all kinds of questions. We had a couple
of questions that were very tough to answer. Oh yeah,
I think today's question is gonna be easy.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Carolyn. Okay good. This was submitted to us through our
website by email from Samantha in Union City. Okay, who
says Carolyn in Court. Since you're giving away Thanksgiving dinners
this week, I want to know what is your favorite
pie on Thanksgiving?

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I thought it was gonna be favorite side because that's
always a common question favorite.

Speaker 6 (05:27):
Pie because I think this is both easy and hard
because totally depends on the you know, my general mood
and what's available at the time. I know, if you
had to pick, though, but if you've got like a
variety of pies on the pay on the table, and
there happens to be a pecan pie, hands down, that's
the first one I'm going to.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
And I agree with that because I think pecan pie
is one of those that you only have at this
time of year.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Sure, sneak a pumpkin in another time of year.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
I suppose, but a pecan pi just feels very Thanksgiving only.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
S I have never had a pumpkin pie outside of
the holidays, Well I have either. I'm just trying to
make it flexible, but there's no reason why you couldn't.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
You could, but you could have a pecan pie outside
of the holidays.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
With that argument, but I don't know.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Pecan pie to me is like just Thanksgiving es the
pie nuts, It's like all the all the stuff.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
The official pie of Thanksgiving. You're saying.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Some may say pecan pie the official pie of Thanksgiving and.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
The morning breeze. Apparently, I would.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Have to say for me, just growing up, my mom
always made a pumpkin pie and a pecan pie.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
We always look forward to.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
My mom's pie at well, both of them Thanksgiving, because
my brothers and I would always do a slice of each.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Oh sure, yea.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
So for me, like going back to the I know
we have to pick one, sam Sorry, but I'm going
one of each for Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
I'll allow it, and I think Samantha will too. I
love that question. And now I want pie?

Speaker 4 (06:53):
So why.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Is it too early for pie?

Speaker 1 (06:56):
No, it's not, it's not all right. It's ask us anything.
We do it every weekday morning at this time at
six forty here on the Breeze, and stay with us,
speaking of Thanksgiving, because coming up at seven o'clock that
is going to be your next chance to win a
complete Thanksgiving dinner.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
That's right. Our annual tradition of taking the stress out
of your holidays with these complete Thanksgiving dinners. We're doing
it every hour on the hour. We kicked it off
at six am this morning. It'll go until six o'clock tonight.
Your next chance to win at seven here on the
Morning Breeze.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Cord where we
are giving away complete Thanksgiving dinners every hour on the hour. Congratulations,
you did it. You are caller twenty.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
Yeah, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Nice job. Who is this and where are you calling from?

Speaker 1 (07:42):
That?

Speaker 3 (07:43):
I got family coming from Hawaiian meeting up from all
my kids and so this will be a real pleasure
prayer for you guys giving out this good nice job.

but it appears very busy. Yeah, daughter Natasha. So we're

about Natasha before we try and get Natasha on the phone.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Hello, Hi, is this Ruth?

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Yes, by good morning, Good morning, it's Carolyn and Court
from ninety eight point one The Breeze.

Speaker 4 (08:45):

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Oh well, we got your nomination about your daughter Natasha.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Yay, that's my bo Yeah, tell us about her.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
She's a hard worker and she's just becoming a adult. She
just turned twenty one. She's a really, really, really dacy woman.
She works forty hours a week. She wills to a school.
She's at college. She's a study in psychology.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
What sounds like you described her Ruth as superwoman. So
I'm going to do a quick recap on all of this.
She's working full time, she's getting her bachelor's degree in psychology.
She's also running a small business, Flower Arrangements, And on
top of all of that, she's also helping you out
with the education of your son, her younger brother.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Yes, Do you think if we tried to call her
right now we would get her on the phone with us?

Speaker 2 (09:54):
I know she's so busy.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
So absolutely, maybe she said lunch.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
All right, Well, we're going to put you on hold
and we're going to try and get her on the phone.
Hang on for just a second.

Speaker 5 (10:04):
Hi, thank you, Okay, hold on don't hang up.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Hello.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
Hi is this Natasha?

Speaker 5 (10:14):

Speaker 4 (10:14):
Yes, that's Oka.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
This is Carolyn and Court. We have your mom on
the phone too. We work for ninety eight point one
The Breeze.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
My gosh, no way.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
So we got a really nice note about you from
your mom. We do something every Friday morning on the
Breeze called the Morning Breeze Person of the Week, and
we take nominations from people all over the Bay Area
who nominate these great people. But we got a note
about you and all of the things that you're doing,
and we were like, we have to call her and

(10:45):
make her our person of the week.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
What's so special?

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Are you excited? I'm very excited.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
I've never experienced anything like this before. Oh.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
A lot of people that are nominated for a Person
of the Week, when we call them in surprise them.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
They're like, I'm just doing my things, doing what I
think I'm supposed to be doing.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
Well, yeah, right now, I'm currently working. And then when
I get off a streets of school and I have
my little uh sorrel business that I do, I'm a luquet.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
We hear that a lot with our Morning Breeze persons.

Speaker 4 (11:23):
Oh yeah, week, that's true.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
So, and those people a lot of times, like you,
they never take time to do anything for them because
they're always doing stuff for others. And that's where we
come in. And what we're going to do is give
you a brunch for two. Thank you to City Cruises
out on the Bay. Yeah, Sunday morning, you go out
on the bay and you just enjoy some good food

(11:45):
some I see.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
Okay, Yeah, she's twenty one years old. She's a bottomless mimosas.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
I love to eat.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
I'm enjoying that her speechless.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Yep, no, not at all.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (12:01):
I really appreciate you guys for that.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Of course, Well it's all your mom's doing. She nominated you.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
Yeah, yeah, I love my mom. Love my mom.

Speaker 4 (12:08):

that you do. Thank you so much. All You're welcome.

your lovely daughter.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Thank me.

Speaker 5 (12:24):
You guys have a wonderful day.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
So adorable. I love both of that. Oh yeah, if
there is somebody like Natasha in your life, somebody that's
going above and beyond, but again not looking for recognition.
That's the perfect candidate for the Morning Breeze Person of
the Week.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Yeah, get those nominations into us for next week's Morning
Breeze Person of the Week. You do that right on
our homepage ninety eight one The Breeze dot Com.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Juce Newton with the song you Will Hear only on
ninety eight point one The Breeze. It's the Morning Breeze
with Carolyn and Court. Seven twenty nine is the time,
and that means it's time for the more you know,
sponsored by the San Francisco Symphony.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
So, as I mentioned Court, why caations is the latest
travel trend. Yeah, now, a hykation, it's why. A hykation
is a play on the words why and vacation. Basically,
it is a vacation that is taken with a purpose.
A tripper, you ask yourself, why am I traveling? Why
am I going here? You focus on something in particular.

(13:23):
It's meaningful about the destination, or maybe you're taking it
specifically because you are dedicating yourself to relaxing.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
It's got a purpose, So you're the man. The purpose
is defined before you go. It's it's not like ending
up in the middle of nowhere. Nevada and being like,
why are we here? Correct? Okay?

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Yes, this is like let's say you want to go
to I don't know, Costa Rica to see see turtles.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Sure or great?

Speaker 1 (13:48):
Can go to a yoga retreat because you want a
mental birth not you purpose?

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Yes, yoga retreat?

Speaker 1 (13:57):
No check? Okay, got it. What about visiting your family's
homeland to learn about their roots?

Speaker 5 (14:02):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (14:02):
I love stuff like that. What's Randy? Where's Randy's homeland?
Randy's homelan where she comes from?

Speaker 6 (14:07):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (14:08):
In the United States? Kentucky? Ohe The old family homestead
is there in the middle of nowhere, Kentucky. Okay. So
going and reconnecting with our roots is a great whycation
because otherwise you go to the middle of nowhere, Kentucky,
and you might be like, why are we vacation in
the middle of Kentucky.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Well, then here's exactly how you would handle that. In
the world of Wycasians. It wouldn't be We're just going
to Kentucky to see Randy's family. It would be We're
going to Kentucky because I want to learn more about
the roots of her ancestry.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Exactly.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Yeah, So that is what a wykasi is nice. I
love it all right. It is the more you know,
we do it every weekday morning at seven twenty five.
You can reach us at eight seven seven nine eight
one oh nine eight one. Do not forget we have

Speaker 2 (15:37):
Right now, I am in Vacaville going to Sacramento.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
We appreciate you listening. Thank you so much and thank you.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
For what you do because you bring my morning.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
That is so nice. Thank you em And we should
point out your next chance to win that Thanksgiving dinner
is coming up at eight o'clock.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
Yes, okay, great, have a great day.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
That's right. It's an annual tradition here at the Breeze
where we help take this show dress out of your
holidays with complete Thanksgiving dinners. And we're doing it every
hour on the hour, starting at six in the morning
until six o'clock tonight.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
So again, your next chance coming up at eight on
the Breeze. It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court

in the morning till six at night.

Speaker 2 (16:20):

Speaker 1 (16:21):
You are collar twenty. How about that for a Friday morning.
You just want to complete Thanksgiving dinner?

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Oh, thank you, thank you very much. Tell us who
you are and where you're calling from.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
And Jeanette, I'm calling it from South San Francisco.

Speaker 5 (16:34):
I'm going to cook a a week after only because I,
you know, want to make sure my mom could make it.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Sure easactly, all right, that's why we love these Thanksgiving dinners.
They are perfectly customizable, so however you want to do.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
It, well, Thank you all right, a complete Thanksgiving dinner
for you as we try to take the stress out
of your holidays. Thank you Premiere One Credit Union for
making this happen. We do it every hour on the hour,
from six in the morning until six at nights. We
got another chance coming up for you to win at
nine o'clock here on the morning breeze.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
So, Carolyn, as we head into the weekend and just
a few days, a little over a week and a
half from Thanksgiving itself, I want to give people a
bit of advice from my own mistakes and failures. Oh As,
I'm pretty sure a lot of people are gonna go
do some grocery shopping this weekend. Yes, and you might
be thinking to yourself self, I'm gonna go to Costco

(17:29):
or another big box store as soon as they open,
and I'm gonna get all of my shopping done. I'm
gonna beat the crowds, and then I'm gonna have the
rest of my Saturday or a Sunday to relax and
just chill out.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Does this have to do with what happened to you
this past weekend because yes, this story.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
It has everything. Okay, this was me going to Costco
last weekend thinking I'm gonna get there right at ten
am when they open up. I'm gonna beat the crowds.
I'm going to be in and out seconds flat, and
everybody else in San Francisco had this exact same idea.
How long was the line?

Speaker 1 (18:01):
It was chaos?

Speaker 2 (18:02):
It was It was crazy chaos. Costco and the holidays.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
I love Costco and I'm not saying don't go because
I will be going to Costco too, like, but you
it's a hit or miss.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Every checkout was up and running. There were there were
employees everywhere helping out and actually, for the first time
you go that early, you actually get to see that
all the clothes folded. Yeah, well for about five minutes. Yeah,
because I literally walked through that door at ten oh
one and it is as if they'd been opened for
ten hours because it was packed.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Here's the rule with the holidays with Costco, at least
the rule that I follow, and that is the rules
that you have in place for Costco for your regular shopping,
non holiday months, week's days. Yes, sure, those go out
the window with the holidays. Because with the holidays it
is a free for all. It doesn't matter if you
go when they open, if you try to sneak in
right before they pull those doors down and.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
They close, it doesn't matter. Everybody's going. I would have
to think though, maybe like on a random Tuesday or
a Wednesday, you might luck out, maybe maybe beat the crats.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
I don't know, because now now we're entering into the
season of random vacations.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
You know, if people have pato burn, like, you know.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
What, I'm gonna be out the second week in December,
You're like, why would you do that week?

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Can you do?

Speaker 5 (19:10):
So?

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Maybe I would say learn for me and just have patients,
because I had zero patients last weekend.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Now people have expectations. So you have helped because you
know what you're getting into. And if you go and
it's fine, consider yourself pleasantly surprised, real.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
And also just you you've been warned.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Also, we're at eight seven seven nine eight one, nine
eight one coming up later this hour eight fifty we
will be commercial free. It's a great way to start
off your Friday morning. Maybe on your drive to Costco
this morning, you've got a breeze on you relax.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Ninety eight minutes of NonStop commercial, free relaxing favorites, and
we'll kick that off at eight fifty here on the
Morning Breeze. It's the Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court
and our annual tradition continues giving away complete Thanksgiving dinners
every hour on the hour. And congratulations to you. You've
done it, your coll what thank you so much.

Speaker 5 (20:04):
I've been trying all week.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
Well, thank you.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Your hard work has paid off.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
Oh, thank you so much. Okay, so who are you
Where are you listening to us?

get some food, put it on the table, some puffing pie.

Speaker 5 (20:21):
I'm going to have a delicious Thanksgiving dinner.

Speaker 2 (20:23):

Stuff You Should Know
Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
